mare: grand theft auto 💀🙏 any gta game she can get her hands on but it started with the chinatown wars on ds

cal: missed out on a proper childhood so is treating his inner child to fnaf for the first time and idk… something something about the story being an overarching narrative about a brother trying to pick up the remnants of his family through his grief… he says he doesnt get the lore butbhe kinda does. also had a goat simulator phase for the same reasons but minus the angst

maven: i would like to say some really cool psychological game but this mf would probs love playing chess against a cpu the most 💀 silent hill takes second place though (he’s obsessed with the idea of a purgatory of one’s own making… hmm… i wonder why 🤔)

diana: she genuinely doesn’t play any game besides minecraft because she gets forced it by other people. but i know she’d love red dead i just don’t think she could be convinced into playing it (tragic)

iris: virgo versus the zodiac would speak to her, i feel. she has a secret weird side that only indie games could tease out of her.

wren: star stable!!! secret horse girl lore.

thomas: resident evil 4 because depending what you headcanon him as hes either feening for leon or ada or both.

Ds Night Market, 1100 N Main St, Los Angeles (Chinatown), CA 90012

The newish Damnoen Saduak (DS) Night Market in the LAX-C (aka Thai Costco), parking lot has over 30 vendors serving up a wide range of Southeast Asian (mostly Thai) food. There were also a few non-food vendors but the vast majority of vendors serve food. I spotted several drink stalls, dessert stalls (e.g., Thai pancakes, coconut pudding, coconut cakes, coconut ice cream, dessert toast), Thai salads, meat skewers, tanghulu, souffle pancakes, noodle soups, crispy pork, dim sum, fried egg rolls, waffles, fried octopus, roti, kha moo (pork stew), etc.  

Prices are on par with restaurant prices and some of the items would be hard to find elsewhere. Most vendors accepted cash, Venmo, or Zelle. The lines, if any, were not long. Some items do sell out though, so it’s probably better to come early.

The area is not the nicest (it’s on the outskirts of Chinatown). It looks industrial and is not too far from the Chinatown Gold Line station. However, it’s not too bad either. I found free street parking easily but I did see one parking lot charging $10 to park. Avoid it because you can find street parking.

The market is open Friday – Sunday nights from 6 PM till midnight. It had a lively feel with loud music and a few tables, some with chairs. Also, they had security guards at both entrances.

This market is open weekends until midnight. Free admission. Service dogs are allowed.

What item did you lose that still bothers you?

Keychain of two polar bears hugging that I lost with the rest of my keys like a decade ago- while that single keychain was found by someone else, it only had a single bear on it. Neither the keys or the other bear were ever found ;-;

I also dropped my copy of GTA chinatown wars and it just Fuckin. Disappeared into the void. I dropped it, looked down, and it was GONE. Never saw it again after that, even after searching. Glitch in the matrix fr, somewhere in the backrooms is a ds game lying around

There was a certain life I felt as a kid. On a particular alley in Chinatown that you can enter after walking out the food court exit door next to the eastern medicine shop and old bubble tea shop. I’d imagine a tmnt Nintendo DS game that I thought was real. That felt like an arcade street fighter’s game, but you can explore the world. I’d imagine Donatello having one of those triple nunchuck bow staff. Expect I thought it was all real, and I wanted to be like that. A ninja in this world with that bow, in that alleyway, next to the eastern medicine place and old bubble tea store where I used to get my green apple lychee jelly drink, dressed in cool black and purple clothes. It was just a bubble though, a momentary bubble that popped when I walked out of it. Because around that corner wasn’t the world I envisioned that alleyway leading to, it was just the town I was in. I wasn’t living that kind of life, I never left the house. It’s 13 years after and I’m only now being independent, walking around Chinatown alone. That old bubble tea store is gone. It got replaced by mainstream “boba” brands that are all over the town. Everyone drinks it now, but no one’s gonna know what that old store tasted like, smell the medicine next shop over. I don’t even think the other boba store I used to go to is still there anymore.
