Sorry this is a little late everyone, but I had to do some work on the skam big bang this week and ran out of time!  But the good news is that you’ll all be treated to some more Davenzi fic sometime soonish!! (and I may even share some snippets here and there!)

Anyway, because I’m late I’m going to make this one much less detailed.  Mostly pictures, in fact!!

1.  Honestly, in a sea of angst this week, this scene holds me over.  From the way we can see Matteo has saved David’s pictures and keeps them close by his bed (even the one he screwed up), through the care and attention he pays to David before their talk, to David’s heartfelt and beautiful expression of his identity.  It’s just beautiful.  Hard to watch in places, big ideas addressed, but under it all is a powerful scene which I am so thankful exists.

2.  Matteo’s support as he works his way through his feelings and understandings about all of this.  While I don’t love the pacing in this part, I really do love that he tries to understand all this, that he doesn’t close himself off from others as his habit has been before, and I particularly love that Hans is there to give him the talk he needs even if it’s not the one Hans expected to be giving.  Also shoutout to finally having someone say it’s not okay to go around outing people!!  While there are far more instances even in this season where outing should have been called out, it’s nice that it’s at least mentioned here.

3.  Finally, because I’m not going to deal with some parts of this episode which I find uncomfortable, is Matteo’s relationship with his mother.  He’s slowly realising that he’s able to reach out to her, and even if it’s hard I’m glad he did tell her about David.  Hans is the mvp of this episode for sure because his words last episode allowed Matteo this moment of growth in this one as well as his very kind and wise words to Matteo regarding the whole thing with David.

Now, I haven't watched a show in a loooong time, so let's see if I can think of nine shows in general 😅

1. The Simpsons: ultimate comfort show. I watch reruns in TV when I'm at my parents. I think I've seen every episode (till season 20) about ten times each.

2. IT Crowd: another comfort show. It makes me laugh every. Single. Time.

3. Black Books: look, I have a lot of comfort shows that I keep watching over and over, don't judge me. And Bernard doing his tax returns lives in my head rent free.

4. Monty Python's Flying Circus: this show has shaped my sense of humour. Either you find Monty Python's humour funny or you can't be helped. I'm happy I'm in the first groups. I remember way too many quotes from the show instead of important things. But I don't care.

5. Derry Girls: one of newer shows that have the comfort show potential. I haven't watched the last season yet. But hey, as a fan of Take That, I LOVED the episode when they went to the show.

6. Skam: I think this is the only show that I binge watched. I don't do binge watching because of my attention span and there's always something that has to be done and you can't spend the whole evening, night and morning watching a TV show, but Skam (and Druck) did it.

7. Gilmore Girls: the older I get, the more annoying I find both Lorelei and Rory and I wish I could forget the clusterfuck that was Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. But this show was a too big part of my life to not mention it. (And Rory jumping with Logan from that scaffolding with umbrellas? Poetic cinema.)

8. Doctor Who: I haven't watched all episodes, it is a show I keep telling myself "when you have the time, you'll catch up with the rest of the episodes" but it's hard to find the time with a full time job, a life AND multiple hours of cycling to watch every day 😅 I find some of the companions annoying (cough Amy cough), but the comedic genius duo that was David Tennant and Catherine Tate is iconic.

Don't blink.

9. Mistresses: (the UK version PLEASE) look, I'm gay. And there's Sarah Parish and Orla Brady in this show. There are few moments that make me want to climb the walls (in a good way). Too many 'we shouldn't be doing this' that I enjoy way too much. Another sort of comfort show. Did I mention Sarah Parish is in this? 😍

wait how did the old writers intend s7-8 of druck

Well, first of all s7 was supposed to be avas season, and s8 isis, which would've made more sense anyway, but funk/zdf saw how (unfairly) disliked ava was in s6, and decided to change things up, the old writers were not okay with that and left/were fired. And now we have this mess of s7 and 8

I still laugh at the fact that they tried so hard to make mailin the new noora/mia, and tried giving her all characteristics that ava actually had, and how it all blew up in their faces, and how after s6 there suddenly wasn't any need for labels anymore from their side

I feel like a lot of texting fics (not that I’ve read that many, mostly out of this reason) don’t text like real people. 2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

My word count is 229,462

3. What fandoms do you write for?

I write for Tatort Dresden and Tatort Saarbrücken. Sometimes other Tatort teams or Radio Tatort are included as well. I've also written for Lost in Fuseta, Druck, Ragnarok, Blutige Anfänger and Babylon Berlin. Everything except Druck and Ragnarok were crossovers with Tatort because I like combining the stuff I like.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Tatort Pride Month Drabbles: my very first drabble collection that I wrote. The one that started this all. The one that makes me unable to stop writing more drabble connections. The one that no other drabble collection I'll ever write will reach.

Italian Summer (lol ur not harry styles): a Druck fanfiction that I gifted my girlfriend for Christmas when she was still just a friend. Started writing it in summer, so it was summer themed, but only finished it in winter.

Don't be sad, Mr. Laurits: a Ragnarok fanfic written after the end of the second season, because I did not want Laurits to suffer all the time. He needs someone who supports him and he now does.

Es geht weiter (Drabble Collection): one of my many other drabble collections. This one is there, so I can post drabbles whenever I feel like it, when I'm not doing a monthly collection.

And the walls kept tumbling down: an unfinished Druck fanfiction in which I gave Leonie and David a shared past. I never finished writing it and the first chapter is all that exists of it.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I try my best to respond to comments. Comments make me so happy. It's so nice to see that others appreciate my work. But I'm not as good at replying as I wish I was. At the moment I have quite a few comments that I have not answered to. I try to get to it from time to time, but the more there are, the harder it is sometimes.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

The angstiest ending I ever wrote was for Zu spät. I want to make it an open ending, but I almost certainly ended up killing one of the characters. And then I did it again for Feed me Poison, fill me 'til I drown except that this time it actually was an open ending. Sorry, Leo.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

A baby being born on Christmas eve is the happiest ending you could ask for, right? Then Freudige Erwartungen – eine Weihnachtsgeschichte in 24 Drabbles is my story with the happiest ending. If a wedding is the happiest ending, then it's Tatort Pride Month Drabbles.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I got a negative comment once on Italian Summer where I was accused of transphobia. But like that's the only time I really got a negative comment and I'm not sure, if it qualifies as hate.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Uhm, yes. So much of it. I feel like lots of it is a little unhinged, if you can use that to describe which kind of smut I write. But I think I also write smut that is more ''normal''.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Yes, I do. I'm not sure, I'd call them crazy. I have written Tatort Dresden/Tatort Saarbrücken, Tatort Dresden/Babylon Berlin, Tatort Dresden/Lost in Fuseta and Tatort Dresden/Blutige Anfänger. I once started writing a Drei ???/Ragnarok crossover, but I never finished it and haven't posted anything of it. That was a crazy idea for sure.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Nope

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Not sure, if it really counts, but I have two shared drabble collections with @disappointingsalad. We've both written our own drabbles independently from each other, so not much actually working together. She's also written a scene for Ein nicht so stilles Wasser and she's helped me ''translate'' for I don't want a lot for Christmas. Looking at all this, I want to thank you so much. You've done so much for me.

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

I know, I should say Karin Gorniak/Leonie Winkler, but I also love Esther Baumann/Pia Heinrich so much.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I really want to finish my Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel Tatort AU, my Aaron Gorniak as a toddler AU and my Vampires in Saarbrücken case fic. I don't think that's actually happening in the near future. I also should be continuing my rainbow family Tatort Dresden Fanfic.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I'm honestly not sure. Maybe it's writing stuff that is a little unhinged.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Staying in character and actually finishing my work.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I've written English fic in the past and sometimes I'm wondering how. Writing dialogue in German comes a lot easier to me.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Surprise, it was One Direction. I since orphaned the fics I had published, because I now believe that it is wrong to write fanfic about real people. But that's everyone's own decision. If you do write fanfic about real people, you do you, but I won't.

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

My favourite one is Durch den Sturm. It was my first big writing project and my first cross-over. It was also my first time writing smut. So a lot of firsts. It will always have a special place in my heart.

what actually happened at the end of s8? I feel like s7-8 were kind of blurry to me as I didn't really pay much attention to what was happening in druck

Can we swap brains please?? I would love to get rid of these memories, but they are stuck in my head and everytime I think about how these producers destroyed my comfort series, I get really mad. Anyways, here is an incomplete summary of what happened:

Mailin didn't have to face any serious consequences for burning half of the school library's inventory so (to nobody's surprise) she was allowed to got to the Abi celebration

The Failin relationship ended in an unlabeled "We'll see how it goes" state, never even mentioning the term 'asexuality' (plus several acephobic notions in other clips, the Druck team really seems to hate people on the ace spectrum)

the conflict between Zoe and Mailin ended up revolving around Finn (which... idk if they wanted to be funny having the two feminist girls fight about a man? but also storytelling-wise it was the least creative option imo... but don't even get me started on creativity)

Ben was forced to delete the pictures of Mailin, but he also didn't have to face any serious consequences (did anyone?? except for Ish, maybe...)

the cashqueens had a kind of cute moment when they buried personal objects and remembered the time they spent together throughout the last 4 seasons. But it got a bit akward when it was Ava's turn, as not so much had happened with her in the last two seasons (except for the very unsatisfying Huelk storyline)

Everyone was cool with Constantin all of sudden, probably because they had another toxic white man to be mad at

Oh, and the project with everyone making a video for each other also somehow revolved solely around Mailin, because they only showed the video she made and the video about her (and I am actually still mad about this)

I know druck season 7 and 8 was a shitshow but i'll be forever grateful for druck giving us the machwitz sisters and giving kiki a proper story arc and maturing her character, it's something I think the new gen and later skam remakes have excelled at, giving the vilde some other characteristics other than ignorant racist who has boundary issues, plus i will forever love nora and zoe and just the machwitz sisters bond as a whole

I agree! While I wish season 4 had fully explored Kiki’s maturity (and made her properly apologize to Amira), season 5 did a wonderful job of exploring Kiki as a young adult, as well as a sister and support system to Nora and Zoe. There’s a reason why I love the Vildes that get more to do early on, i.e. Kiki, Engel, Viri, because they get to grow, change, and flourish more as characters. I, too, love the Machwitz sisters. They’re perhaps my favorite Skam siblings and hold a very special place in my heart. Thanks for the ask!

looking at ava's "you're no boyfriend material" from an aro perspective:

this is the last thing anyone of the group says to ben, this is the final mic drop

that's - at least how it's framed - the worst insult

at the same time, it says a (good) boyfriend is the best thing you can be, that's what's most important about your character

and whereas it's true that ben probably wouldn't be a good boyfriend, seeing how he treated mailin, that's not what makes him a "bad person"

he was an asshole completely unrelated to romantic relationships

and being a boyfriend (or romantic partner in general) is not everyone's goal

that druck frames being a romantic partner as the most important thing in the world, as what everyone longs to be, is definitely disappointing

the only thing that annoyed me about druck since the og generation, is that the main story was always about love interests, but it was okay because, for many people romantic love is important and i can still enjoy it even though i don't feel it, it was written well and friendship was always pictured as important even when it wasn't the main topic

but now, this season isn't written well, there were many hopes that it would bring some aspec rep, and now they follow a highly allonormative and amatonormative trope which just feels like the exact opposite of what we've hoped for

and amatonormativity isn't only harmful to aro people, nobody needs (or should need) a romantic partner to be happy, there's cool things about being single and if you're unhappy or have problems of whatever sort, having a significant other won't solve that

that druck follows potentionally harmful tropes, that also alienate aro spec people, is not what i would have expected them to do

(and i don't feel like it fits ava's character at all, but they already did ava so bad this season, this is not what surprised me about this scene)

sooo, under the last clip (the mailin getting off after her controller vibrated for some reason one) i wrote a comment which i guess i'll translate now

i don't really like this season, i enjoyed the first 3 episodes and was exited for the further developments.

but, there weren't any developments, not really. like, yes, if you enjoy mastturbating, go for it, but it's not like you have to.

that masturbating is portrayed as something that's always positive, feels weird to me

for me, druck has always been a series, that tells new stories and the "masturbating can be nice"-story, we just know that story already.

this season would have been the perfect opportunity to tell something new.

at first i thought, this season would be aroace rep, which i was really exited about. then it was clear that mailin was into finn (romantically). and yes, she could theoretically still be on the aro spectrum, but it was a way to little topic, for it to be relevant.

then i had hopes for mailin being ace, but if she actually turns out being ace, it wouldn't feel like good rep. i know that asexuality is a spectrum and asexual people have different relations to sex or masturbating etc.

but designing asexual representation in a way that best fits allonormative standards? doesn't feel right to me. and if mailin would come to the conclusion that she is, in fact, ace, it would happen in the last episode. asexuality would only be a topic in one out of ten episodes. that's not a lot.

and if she's not ace, this whole season feels like a missed opportunity. then we would have followed a white, cishet, allo, young woman, who is also quite rich, for ten weeks. a woman who doesn't even acknowledge her privilege, who doesn't reflect on her own mistakes (she still thinks you can destroy books because you feel like it), who isn't good at communicating (like not being in contact with finn after small problems, or drunkenly telling him a week later that the sex was not the best idea) even though she said (in previous seasons) that she was taught to be open about feelings etc. when she had a fight with ava. and the problems that she actually has (ben, but that's it) are handled weirdly. it was only said once or twice that ben was the problem, that it was simply wrong of him to send mailin's nude (that he only got in the first place because he coerced her after she said no). instead the whole screentime was devoted to mailin and zoe fighting and finn being angry about mailin for sending the nude (that was before your relationship?! i don't think you have any right to dictate what mailin should or shouldn't do, and i honestly don't think it fits finns character to react that way).

there've been a lot of storylines, but none of them had a real ending (i wanna know who snitched on mailin and zoe, but there's a week left, so i still have hopes), none were told well (at least that's what it feels like to me), it feels like they just ignore old seasons (isi being non-binary and using all pronouns, what ava and fatou talk about in the abi prank, ava who has always promoted interscetional feminism and everything connected to it is now hyping mailin up even after mailin acts against what ava stands for)

what annoys me the most is that we have lots of cool characters in this show, whose stories haven't been told (in the series but also in mainstream media) who just get ignored

looking at the comments under the latest clip rn and there are a lot that are really cool

but some are just... eh

there are people saying that every victim of SA should decide for themselves how to deal with it, whether they want to go to the police etc.

and yes, that's true, but it also misses the point

because most victims are scared of going to the police, of what the police might say to them, of having to go through the traumatising events again, and then not even knowing that the abuser will get any consequences

but that's exactly the reason why we should show characters successfully reporting their abusers to the police, especially characters that are praised for "being strong" by their friends

we need to show young victims that going to the police can work and that it doesn't make the situation more traumatising

if we show a charcater not going to the police, even though they are "strong" and have the help of a big friend group, then victims will feel even less like going to the police, because if this strong character with lots of support can't do it, how could they?

- early s5 fatou/nora! the parallels to davenzi (nora’s art) and nooreva (the seat in class)

- s5 of druck was so good ;_;

- JOSH AND THE NORA WITH THE MEET-CUTE OF ALL TIME! what if i parkoured into you and broke your phone screen. and then kept on parkouring

- i really like how the season really lets us be with nora in her day-to-day life, and really get into her head

- amazing how much i end up loving kieu my bc she’s really so shitty to nora in early s5 (and iirc p shitty to fatou in early s6? and i dont think the stuff with her family’s store ever gets expanded on in s7/8)
