Ohh hell yeah! literally could not do all of them because it would be a million words long but here are some . i went mostly with mid-style headcanons because italk about the outlandish stuff a lot more than the normal everyday things.

Austin's personality takes after his mother more than his father. His dad was always very calm and pacifistic. His mother was a proper firecracker and quick-witted with a sharp tongue. He still hates this fact.

Firestorm is prone to overheating when he's in a high emotional state. He's known for spitting flame or catching himself on fire in an intense situation. (wink.) He fixes the damage himself.

Rundown learnt to play piano as a child in England, and is still quite good at it. He picks it up again when one of Firestorm's kids wants to learn.

Myles loves hiking!! Her early memories are of going hiking with her folks. She drags everyone else along whenever she can. Her other hobbies include prawning and fly-fishing.

Manuel is a lot more artistic-minded and enjoys painting. Before meeting the crew she was very reclusive and only painted from the imagination. Now she lets herself be dragged off on hikes but carries supplies with her. While Myles is setting up the picnic, Manuel has her easel out, she makes almost cubist depictions of the landscape.

Michael always secretly looked up to the road trains and wanted to be one when he grew up. Being convoy for the military was the closest he ever got.

Cass grew up in the Snowy Mountain region. She was a drover for her grandpa's farm and helped her cousins with crops as well. She only moved to Queensland in her later years, when Joyeuse Sr. was suffering arthritis from the cold. She used to shoot rabbits and roos and still has a shotgun, and she never wastes a bullet.

Dusk is from VIC and his first job was in a wrecking yard. He now works helping analyse car genomes and determine successful lineages, as well as predict 'recall' flaws in model groups. He also consults couples to determine if they can successfully hybridise. He sparks occasional controversy with his peers for having such an outlandish model for a partner.

Dusk and Cass have been together thirty-six years and are not married. I think theyre the only cishet relationship in the entire series?

Artemis is a big fan of the stars and has a bunch of glow-in-the-dark stickers on his ceiling in the pattern of actual night skies. He also joined the school boxing team without his parents knowing and is one of their most feared fighters now.

Joy Jr. is continually being pressured to race by her peers and teachers. She wants to be a firefighter! She wants to be a firefighter. She does volunteer work with the local station but she can see in their eyes they don't believe her.

Basil learnt to weld from a random old bloke she met at work while doing her apprenticeship for medicine training. The old man mentored her for seven years. She's one of the best welders in the country and has extensive practise because she has to fix and jury-rig Reg every time he breaks, which is often.

Reg got a creative streak the rest of his family seem to lack. He makes things for whimsy as well as practicality. He's been painting the walls and adding flower-shaped stained glass to the windows since he was a baby.

Aggie is the oldest running road train in the registrar and basically is connected to her trailers permanently now. She can move a lot like a snake, even whipping around like a twenty-tonne taipan. Like all road trains, she idles along the road even when sleeping, and will often wander off in the night without even realising.

It's common to hear screaming if certain lights go out in the opal fields. Johnny's experience in a cave-in haunts his young mind. He can't handle darkness. His mama can't run a generator all night, but he has battery-powered fairylights. If they go out he can't help it; he wails and roars until someone can calm him down. Reg is the one that pulled him out of that dark hellhole the first time, and he's often the only one that can bring Johnny back to the present now. There's good reason Reg is so strict about mining safety in the BWD region.

My headcanon that Rowdy Yates turned into the Man with No Name is really sending me. Cattle drover turned bounty hunter/mercenary.

It would've happened by accident of course, perhaps Yates would've still been with Favor as his ramrod and perhaps he was trailbossing his own herd by then. Either way he would've killed a man, shot him down to protect either himself or the herd or even Favor (if he was still with him) and of course they would've taken the man into the nearby town. Come to find out the man was wanted dead or alive and Yates got the payoff for the bounty, which was more than he would've made the whole entire drive.

Yates realized there was another way to make money than pushing cattle across perilous terrain. Regardless of whether he was still with Favor or bossing his own herd, Yates would've finished the current job then he would've quit the drover business and started making a name for himself as a Man with No Name.

Thus Rawhide would've transitioned into what we see in the events of A Fistfull of Dollars and that's when Yates would've already started building his reputation in that profession.

1. Favorowdy

*I started shipping Gil and Rowdy about a year and a half ago.

* I didn’t see it at first but the more I watched the more they just clicked. The show just gives so many great moments to build a ship on, it’s irresistible.  

* What makes me happy about them is that they’re an awesome power-couple who can be really sweet and supportive of each other. 

* What makes me sad about them is how often canon has Gil being quite mean to Rowdy and their relationship becomes very conflicted and unhealthy. 

* The fanfics for them are really good. I think the only things I don’t like are when Gil is written as overbearing or Rowdy as to immature. 

* Things I look for in a fanfic are things like Gil and Rowdy actually talking and communicating, stories that involve the kids and in general drover shenanigan.

* Who I’d be happy with them ending up with. I don’t really see them making it work with anyone else except Pete. Especially for Gil. 

* My happily ever after for them. Retired from droving and owners of a cattle ranch in Texas and raising the girls together. 

* Big spoon/Little spoon is again something that depends on the situation. It changes depending on what’s been happening, who’s feeling more protective and who just really wants to be held. 

* Their favourite non-sexual activity. I think at the end of the day, when things are quiet and they can just relax for a while. Sitting next to each other by the campfire, just enjoying the closeness.

2. Pete Nolan

* Pete is the best and I love him. :)

* People I ship with Pete. Gil mostly. Sometimes Rowdy but the connection he has with Gil really sells it for me. 

* BroTP is Pete and Wishbone. They’re friendship is the best. 

* I wish we’d found out more about Pete’s backstory. The show never really gives much info past a couple of years and the lack of backstory bugs me. 

* OTP BossScout. 

* My crossover ship. Pete and Nyota Uhura from Star Trek. They bond over stars, music and languages. 

* Headcanon fact. Pete has two younger sisters. One lives in New Orleans and the other lives in Maryland.

Idk you know headcanons get obscure, also thanks to all the westfic contributers.

Gil Favor, Head of Engineering. Has been here a long time. Thinks MS Command prompt is the best shell. Believes in process and things done right. Likes the earliest form of Agile that’s more authoritarian, and that’s it, hates any further developments on agile. 

Rowdy Yates, Senior Solutions/External IT. Fast, sloppy code but is ace at debugging and really good at talking to people. Is always dicking around on the company bouncy ball. Really good at foosball. Favor always takes him on the business trips and no one really knows why.

Pete Nolan, Senior Engineer. Is in charge when Favor is away. Knows a little bit about everything, reliable, writes excellent code reviews and is the local expert on digging up source code and manuals. Will get grumpy if you don’t write good git commits. 

Wishbone, Senior Engineer. Very slow but very talented coder, his code is meticulously written but runs perfectly on almost the first go at it. HATES being rushed by management, and bitches to Favor (or anyone else who will listen) about product, advertising, timelines, whatever. Will get VERY grumpy if you don’t write good git commits. 

Mushy, Engineer. Good at a few really really old languages but has trouble keeping up with the new stuff. Definitely the person to ask if you need a reliable patch for v2.01 in Fortran when everyone else is working on v12.03

Jesus Patinas, QA Engineer. Engineer from another branch of the company, knows a lot about unusual bugs and how to do language/accessibility interfacing. The other coders (hehe drovers) do their best to make him feel welcome. 

Jim Quince and Joe Scarlet, Front End/Webdev. Dynamic duo, can make anything look pretty. They originally hired Jim as front end, Joe as back end for their website, but they both seem to have good experience in both. 

Clay Forester, Engineering/Product. Everyone’s natural enemy, keeps trying to push different AGILE styles that irritate the hell out of Favor and expects unreasonable deadlines with no care about whether the code is shitty or not. Then blames engineering for the fixes that Engineering said it would need. Bad.

headcanon’s for pavel’s life under the cut

grew up in a very rural russian village 

it was a very traditional place, not a lot of technology and new medicines 

the kind of place where everything could be cured with soup and ‘sucking it up.’ broken bones were given wooden splints and deep cuts were often left unattended because ‘it will heal faster that way, make the skin tougher’

pavel’s mother, anna, was in an unloving marriage to his father. it was a union of convenience.

but damn if anna didn’t love pavel more than anything else in the entire universe 

she was the one who instilled in him a love for science and discovery; taking him out whenever his father passed out to look at the stars. getting him every book under the sun

she grew very ill one morning and never got better

her husband refused to take her to the hospital because he thought it was nothing and that she would get over it with rest 

it got to the point where pavel, age 10, stole a hover car from an out of towner and drover her to the nearest facility himself 

she died days afterwards

pavel’s father blamed him for what happened 

“dammit you little cretin, if you had just let her rest she would’ve been fine! if you had just let her be she would still be alive!” 

it got to the point where he believed it. 

he ran away at 11, stowing away on an aircraft leading out of russia

for two years he lived on the streets; stealing to survive and hacking for extra money 

he got caught one day but instead of turning him in the shop keeper was very...impressed 

pavel showed such extreme intellect and after she pried his story from him she knew it would just be wasted if the police sent him back home

she helped him get into college, where he graduated in two years (15), and then went on to starfleet academy, where he graduated in another two years (17) (side note: take that kirk)

extra stuff: 

the first time he said something was ‘inwented in russia’ it was much less him bragging about his home country and more of him assuring himself that good things could come from where he was from

because of how he was raised, all of the high tech medical equipment still puts him a bit on edge

he is always in a constant state of being underweight/almost underweight which comes from his time on the streets; preserving food and surviving on as little as possible

he has no desire to become a captain. he is very proud of his promotions, but he does not want to lead, only to fly and discover

his father mistreated him badly because he’s trans

in his mind he has killed two innocents: his mother and spock’s mom.

DEXTER PARRISH is TWENTY-FIVE years old and lives in LAKE SWANSEA. He is a MALE and is UNEMPLOYED / a TRUST FUND KID. He has been in Clovers Circle for TEN years, is portrayed by EZRA MILLER, and is OPEN.

When Dexter first moved to Clovers at FIFTEEN, he was just about as mysterious as they came. More than anything, though, Dexter was fascinated by how quickly news traveled, fascinated by how everyone new everyone. This fascination ended abruptly, however, when the LAKE SWANSEAcommunity discovered his father was having an affair with another man. The news of such a scandal spread through the gated community like a wildfire, and his parents headed in the direction of a high publicized divorce.

After, Dexter found himself in a constant whirlwind of substance and naked women. Dexter knew the neighborhood boys watched in awe as his style and swagged commanded drovers of admiring girls who baked him food, warmed his bed, and left sweaty notes in his car. Dexter’s virility typically set him against the the effeminate women of Lake Swansea, but also against the boys themselves. His relationship with his father, however, was also different than the other boy’s in Lake Swansea. Dexter and his father always treated each other as equals, turning a blind eye to each other’s erotic adventures. Within their community, his father’s homosexuality was strictly taboo. It was for this reason that Dexter always respected the privacy of love and refused to discuss a single detail of his sexual exploits with the other boys.

More generally, Dexter’s drugs, alcohol, hair gel, and hot rod were common symbols of the typical suburban masculinity. His burgeoning drug trade showed that he was a self-made man, and that specific endeavor freed him from the restraints of high school. His epicurean love of women showed the refined taste and conspicuous consumption of the affluent playboy, while his discretion marked him as a gentleman. But just after Dexter hit the tender age of TWENTY, his father died of liver failure, leaving his son with the family’s multi-million dollar mansion and a hefty trust fund. After this, Dexter found himself in the downward spiral of a young playboy: alcoholism, a new found dependency on heroin, and a different lover every night.
