Jarlaxle, putting the Spider mask back in Gromph Baenre's desk, holding uninterrupted eye contact with Artemis: "this item is the only thing that can get you into house Baenre. Would be a shame if anyone were to steal it. Btw the password for this drawer is 'password123'."

I opened my Streams of Silver to continue reading on my commute home today and this was on the first page after my bookmark:
Tumblr media
The narrator calls his features handsome, though it seems like this blue-robed Harpell mage in Longsaddle seems to be more interested in Drizzt due to his race rather than his canon-confirmed good looks.
*laying on the floor, staring into space*
...The books never acknowledge how attractive Drizzt must be by drow standards.
His mom was Matron "the envy of her generation" Malice and his dad was Zaknafein "hot enough to defy God(dess) and live" Do'urden. The first drow gal who spotted him in Starless Night immediately wanted to tap that. He MUST be hot, logic and evidence demand it.
But the books don't say it. Catti-Brie's beauty is praised nearly every time she's mentioned. Wulfgar gets acknowledged as a looker at least a few times. But does anyone ever tell Drizzt he's pretty? That he's a handsome young man? Does the narrative ever note his appearance beyond his mane of hair and his lavender orbs?
No. Never. No one on the surface OR in the Underdark appreciates that the master swordsman/strategy genius/golden hearted hero is also a total smoke show. This is a travesty. I demand justice.

I do find it hilarious that the author has to specifically say "his lavender eyes" basically every time Drizzt's eyes are mentioned. Can't let the reader forget that Drizzt has the most magical, beautiful, purple eyes known to man (or, at this point in the story, known to drow and deep gnome and pech/hook horror, I guess).
Also the amount of times it's "lavender orbs" instead, hilarious

Fun fact: About two hundred million years ago, I Larped Drizzt Do’Urden. (My name wasn't Drizzt; it was Drizil, which later became the name of my first tarantula, but boy, this was pretty much Drizzt.)
I thought I had deleted all the proof I had of this ever happening, but I found this pic.
I still have that armour, but I wonder what happened to my scimitars. Those two were some of the best weapons I ever built.

Thank you! Much to think about.
It would be very tough to read a fancy hardcover one handed on my commute… Luckily I was able to find some cheap copies on Etsy after asking so I may go that direction.
When I started reading the series years ago, i'm ALMOST POSTIVE there were none on libby... but checking again, a ton are available. As much as i love the convenience I may still go hard copy for a little collection and a break from screen time.
Hello! just seeking half to vent and half to see if you have any advice. I've been trying to thrift all my books as I read through the Legend of Drizzt Do'Urden, but I'm at a road block. I went to 8 used bookstores in my city though and I think the well here is running dry... I just finished #7 and I have #10 but I'm missing 8 and 9. I found a 7-10 collectors edition online but its a bit more $$ and I can't fit in in my pocket to read on my commute... thoughts on Collectors Edition or pocket copies of 8 and 9?
I feel the struggle. It's a pain to find specific old books... Collector's Editions never really interested me because they feel ☆fancy☆ and I don't want a fancy book, I want books that can get ripped and wrinkled and shoved into purses without guilt.
Good Advice: try Ebay and/or Thriftbooks.com as a solution. Thriftbooks is a good site that sells used books; I've used them a lot, they're trustworthy. And Ebay is where I got a cheap copy of "Exile" when other avenues failed.
Bad Advice: request the books from your local library and then steal THEIR copies.
