Sands of Iwo Jima by Drive-By Truckers might be one of the best songs of all time because it makes me come very close to crying despite the subject matter (the plight of veterans) being something I've experienced through media a million times before and have never been particularly sensitive to.

"Goddamn Lonely Love" by Drive-By Truckers has no right to go that hard. I mean seriously. This is the kind of song where if you start listening to the lyrics, you suddenly find yourself needing to sit down.

My first patch of the summer! He doesn't photograph well, but this is a Drive-By Truckers patch that I made for my boyfriend! Finished this 3 days ago but I only made this blog today. Self-critique under the cut!

I'm super proud of how the eye turned out, the contrast in the picture is thrown off but in person the thread I picked has the perfect amount of glow to it it's just awesome. I also think I nailed the texturing, again the picture doesn't show it bc idk how to photograph embroidery properly yet BUT the stitches on the wings are laid PERFECTLY it looks and feels feathery.

The outer border definitely could be better. I tried 3 different techniques and I definitely should have just stuck to one lmao. But now I know which one I like best (the bottom middle to right section) and I can use that for future patches! I do think it adds a little visual interest? And my bf likes it anyhow so that's all that matters.

If anyone with embroidery/sewing experience has any other critiques of this piece, feel free to let me know! I'm fully self taught, always looking for more tips!
