Drink With Me: A Les Misérables Platonic Gift Exchange

Hello, everyone!

Are you ready to take part in another fandom event?

What is the Drink with Me Platonic Exchange? 

It's a fandom event to celebrate the platonic relationships in Les Misérables! In it, each person gives up to three platonic ships, and receives another person's ships to make some kind of content for. Let's get the wine of friendship flowing!

How do I participate? 

@p-trichor, @juliensorelisoverparty and @aromantic-enjolras are the mods. Just send any of us a DM with your three platonic ships. Let us know if you have a ship/character/user you do not want to write for and we'll assign you a person accordingly (and keep that information confidential).

After the inscription process is done, you'll be assigned one person, along with their top three ships, and you can choose which one to make content for. 

I can't write/draw, can I still participate? 

Of course! Fics, fanart, videos, moodboards, gifsets,  edits, etc.... All content is welcome! 

What is the timeline? 

Sign-ups will be open from the 22nd to the 29th of June. The ships will be given out the following day. All content should be uploaded on the 25th of July. Please remember to tag the person you are gifting the content to, tag @drinkwithme-exchange and tag it with #drinkwithme2021

For the @drinkwithme-exchange,  I lucked out and got assigned @aflamethatneverdies ! Who asked for Bahorel and Joly. I love these two and I’m delighted to draw them for you! 

@aflamethatneverdies​, since I know you like Art Thoughts talk, some of that, and a little bonus doodle, under the cut:

drawing this, I was thinking about the way that long-standing friendships have so many little acts of repetition in them-- the shared movie nights, the weekend outings , the same jokes and arguments repeated over and over -- little semi-rituals that change in details over the years;  and how all of those little repeated acts layer on each other, giving the relationship more weight and texture and color over time. Stories are about big, routine-breaking moments; but the little things over time are their own Big Deal .  A volcano changes the landscape, but so do tides. 

and a note on the cockade in  the last panel-- it’s natural for this fandom to read angst into any overt reference to the political activist side of things, and you may certainly do so if you wish XD But more benignly , I’ve sort of headcanoned Bahorel being the one to radicalize Joly for a while ; someday you and I can talk Meeting Headcanons :D

I’m so happy I got to draw something for you for this exchange; it felt very fitting that this was for one of my own dearest friends in the fandom <3

Werewolf Child is a short Twine game hosted on itch.io. Unlike many Twine games, it’s a single linear story with no branches--think of it as somewhere between a picture book and an animation you click to reach the next frame.

I had a fantastic time doing this project! @enjolrac, thank you so much for the prompt!
