  Hey friends, Dani of @goldcoastcanvas here! I’m so humbled that Luciane reached out to me and it is truly an honor to be featured among such incredibly talented designers here on HomeBunch. I never would have imagined that our once plain-jane rental home would someday be worthy of this. I am feeling excited and grateful (and maybe a little bit like the new girl at the lunch table!).

My boyfriend Brad and I both grew up in South Florida and we are true barefoot, ocean-loving Florida kids at heart. We’ve both bounced around the country (and the globe) quite a bit since leaving home. We most recently moved to Austin, Texas where we’ll stay until it’s time to make the permanent move back home to Florida.

As you can imagine, being away from family and the ocean takes some adjusting to. This is why it was so important that our home in Austin, no matter how temporary, still have space for guests and still reflect that breezy lifestyle we love most. We chose a modern, new-construction home in South Austin not far from downtown. It was the perfect jumping off point for the activities we love most: hiking the greenbelt with our chocolate lab Soko, hitting up our favorite taco truck, or catching some waves at the surf park (yes, you can surf in the middle of Texas!)

I have always loved coastal decor, but it took me years to hone in on my true design aesthetic. Once I started focusing on how I wanted our home to feel rather than how I wanted it to look, everything clicked into place. For this house, I really wanted to create a home that felt like a sanctuary and that was easy to live in – where spaces felt organic and nothing was too precious. I think that is what makes coastal homes so appealing to me. They are meant for the happy messes of sandy feet and salty hair.

The thing that sold me most on this house was the kitchen. As serial renters, we were used to dealing with suboptimal cooking spaces (our kitchen in our San Francisco apartment had about two feet of counter space!) This one felt like a long-awaited luxury to us. I softened the modern finishes with more organic selections like the vintage-inspired rug, aged cutting boards and handmade ceramic dishware.

Our dining room is small but I knew we needed a sizable table for big dinner gatherings. To make it work, I opted for benches that could be pushed under the table when not in use. I love how it created a cozy little nook on the wall side. The photos above the table are actually sketches of the different homes we’ve made memories in: Brad’s apartment in Sydney, the St. Louis bungalow my father grew up in and the 120 year old Victorian we lived in in San Francisco.

Master Bedroom

I took my time designing our master bedroom and it is my absolute favorite room in the house. I wanted to keep this room clean and simple, while still giving it enough layers to feel cozy. I stuck with two main colors – a blue/grey and cream – and brought things to life with lots of different textures. From the driftwood nightstands to the chunky cotton quilt to the faded rug, everything in this room is meant to feel a bit organic and weathered, yet still refined.

Having usable outdoor space was really important to us. However, when we moved in, our backyard was just a plain patch of grass. Since we’re renting, we worked with our landlord to come up with an affordable solution. With my dad’s help, we built this raised gravel patio ourselves!

The new raised gravel patio ended up being a hit in the neighborhood and inevitably, all of our gatherings end up out here. I’m so glad we went for it! About Me:

I'm a third generation artist. Bought my first Airbrush in 1977, found it to be a fascinating tool and control came easy. We opened retail stores after my Air Force jaunt after high school, an airbrushed my way to doing custom pieces for people all over the world. My Brother, Dad (second generation artist) and I ran and did all the artwork for 3 retail stores through the late 80's and 90's and into retirement in 2008. After a few decades of retirement, I've decided to get back to what I love, painting. I'm here to offer my artwork in print form, any size. I work mostly in Watercolor, Colored Pencil, Pen and Ink, Charcoal, Pencil.

Giclée Printing

What is Giclée printing and what do giclée prints mean to artists and photographers?

Giclee (pronounced Gee’clay) is a French term meaning to spray or squirt, which is how an inkjet printer works. However, it is not the same as a standard desktop inkjet printer, and is much larger and more detailed. Giclee prints can be a little over a meter wide and are printed on high quality archival papers. Giclee is the best way to produce archival reproductions of your fine art and photography.

Do Giclee printers use ordinary printers inks?

No. We use only brand name, special light-fast inks. Our inks are archival certified and if treated properly, will last a lifetime. My original 's are professionally large format photographed.

Observing the Franklin Anderson Gallery in Crystal River

The next place we will be discussing is the Franklin Anderson Gallery of Arts in Crystal River. Downtown Crystal River is home to many quaint shops and restaurants. One tiny place that stands out is the Franklin Anderson Gallery. 

The moment you walk into this gallery and shop, you feel welcome. The gallery owners and employees greet you right away, and the building itself has speakers throughout it playing popular songs from the 80′s. The atmosphere is overall welcoming and peaceful. 

Paula Bateman is an employee at the gallery and has been for seven years. She knows all about the shop and the people that display their art in it. Over forty local artists have their art on sale at the gallery. 

“Our top seller is always jewelry.�� Said Bateman. 

The checkout counter was filled to the brim with homemade jewelry, it also entirely lined one of the walls. Business cards for each artist were easily accessible, this is what helps spread their work far and wide.

Jewelry is not all of their inventory. They also feature many paintings, carvings, origami pieces, and metal works. Everything in the gallery is for sale, including one of their display tables, which was made out of a piece of driftwood.

The fact that this gallery sells its work is what makes it really special. If you see something you like, you have the ability to take it home with you, and a portion of the money goes back to the artist.

The Franklin Anderson Gallery is currently competing for the Citrus County Chronicle Best of the Best award. They have won versions of this award four times and hope to continue winning. You can vote for their shop at thechronicleonline.com.

Wall Hangings

I'm all about creating a dwelling. So rarely buy high priced art or affordable bigbox decoration because of your own islamic-painting It's unsustainable and expensive to purchase brand new items all of the moment; point! As an alternative, make things that are more meaningful and unique or I search for myself. Like stick at art. I have been loving yarn wall-hangings and the stick showing up online, and so that I tried building a few myself personally. One was completed with a branch using a driftwood rod and you also - equally equally found close where I dwell, out doors. It was done for one other for a colourful and enjoyable version, and a neutral , feel. That I watched for sales and earned them cheap as you can, although I'd need to purchase yarn for them. Plus, their own one-of-a-kind and meaningfulI think they're a beautiful way to decorate. Colourful yarn and stick dangling For this particular one, I wanted some thing bright, therefore that I found that a birch stick that'd come in rural New Brunswick from the forests round my mother or father's home plus bought 4 skeins of yarn. I didn't know what I was doing merely tried some thing and went with the flow. I believe it was pretty adorable! DIY yarn and stick islamicwall-art artwork Here is exactly what I did so. I slice on the pole to length for the size surfaces I needed (I used a Handsaw ). I minimize a bunch of lengths for each colour yarn - double click the span as you'll get two strands dangling from each slice bit, you want them to hang. Even the number of portions of every and every colour depends on how wide you want just about every colour to be around your own stick - lay them out and then get creative and adapt as you proceed. I then threaded the to ends throughout the loop, and left a loop pitched that the part of cut yarn, pulling into your pole. I maintained doing so one across the stick, shifting to another location colour along the way. I wrapped the rod by 2 screws made out from your wall. You can also use tiny cup hooks wrapped in to the wall (if your stick suits them) or curtain pole brackets. Screws were applied by me since I wanted. I used scissors to cut on the hanging yarn to the span and layout that I wanted onto the floor. Yarn alhamdulillah-wallpaper. Hanging and neutral Stick I created still another stick and yarn hanging, this time around together with yarn of all one colour, also I stumbled into a knot attached them onto the stick. Same instructions as above, simply use 8 lengths of yarn attached together instead of the one. It travelled a lot faster in this way! Some bits were braided by me and tied knots in a number lengths of their dangling pieces to produce matters fun and textural.
