Episode 2: Photobooth

The all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant buzzed with energy, and your competitive streak was in full swing. Plates of sushi piled up in front of you, but no matter how hard you tried, he kept his pace steady, teasing you all the while.

“You really thought you could out-eat me?” he smirked, effortlessly stacking another plate on his side. “You’re like… five sushi rolls away from tapping out.”

“I’m close! Just you wait!” you huffed, popping another piece into your mouth. He laughed at your determination, then cheekily slid a roll from his plate onto yours.

“That’s cheating!” you protested through a laugh.

“I’m being supportive,” he replied with a grin, making it impossible for you to stay mad.

In the end, he won—but barely. You sat back in your chair, stuffed and defeated, but not without pride. “Fine,” you sighed dramatically, “you won the bet. Go-karts it is. But just so you know, I was this close.”

He patted your shoulder with a mock-serious expression. “You were brave. I’ll always remember your valiant effort.”

Go-karting was a whirlwind of adrenaline. He reveled in the thrill of speeding around the track, while you tried to keep up, laughing as he glanced back to check if you were gaining on him. By the time the race ended, you were both exhilarated, cheeks flushed from the cool air and excitement.

As you walked back to the parking lot, he suddenly stopped in front of a photobooth.

“I think I like… that frame,” he said, pointing to the most over-the-top design with glittery hearts and stars.

You gasped in mock surprise. “You want to do the photobooth?”

He blushed, turning his face away. “I mean… if you want to. You did want to do this earlier, right? It’s only fair.”

You grabbed his hand, grinning from ear to ear. “Let’s go!”

Inside the tiny booth, the first frame was awkward. He sat stiffly, unsure where to look.

“Relax!” you giggled, elbowing him lightly. By the second frame, you both managed a genuine smile.

The third frame was all laughs—he leaned over and pulled a ridiculous face while you playfully stuck out your tongue.

Then, just as the countdown for the fourth frame started, you leaned over and kissed his cheek. His expression was priceless: wide-eyed, startled, and turning red as the camera clicked.

On the way back to the car, you looked at the printed photos together.

“Do you like them?” you asked, watching his expression.

He glanced at the last frame where your kiss was perfectly captured and smiled softly. “Yeah… I do.”

You couldn’t resist pushing your luck. “Can we do it again sometime?” you asked, batting your eyelashes like a little kid.

“No!” he exclaimed, but his hand slid around your shoulders, pulling you closer.

You laughed as he kissed the top of your head. “Okay,” you whispered. “But I know you secretly loved it.”

His smile gave him away, but he didn’t say a word—just held you close as you walked back to the car, the photobooth pictures safely tucked in his pocket.
