Callum and Ezran exclaiming about “The Statue!” is particularly infuriating because the statue has literally never been called out up to that point, like we see it but there’s no comment on it, no explanation of what it commemorates, it doesn’t seem like it came directly from the temple because a) then the town would know they’d dug up an ancient elven temple, and b) it’s clearly a statue of a human. We don’t see Otti’s staff ever again after the few panels of his first appearance, making the statue’s staff even more baffling.

And furthermore:

idk if it’s the jetlag or what but I feel like Dreamer’s Nightmare cut a whole-ass subplot regarding the recurring eye motif, the statue, and the dream guardian’s missing eye because otherwise those parts, especially the statue, are completely fucking incomprehensible in context

With Hob having lived for approximately six and a half centuries, he's done a lot more sleeping than most living creatures (except maybe cats) and with that, he's probably met a significant number of the dreams and nightmares in The Dreaming at some point.

Hob is the quintessential dreamer, the dreams adore him, but his life has also not been easy and he's well-acquainted with the nightmares as well.

What I'm saying is, when Dream finally brings Hob to the Dreaming to introduce him to the family give him a tour of the realm, the dreams and nightmares come out to meet Hob like he's their old friend. Hob is strangely touched and also having the time of his life, while Dream is pouting that his creations have stolen Hob's attention away.
