fizzles what is the trick to making all of your men(and women and vaguely gendered Beests as well) SO smoochable. Smith is like my favorite right now and i have been a silent Cain enjoyer for ages

tbh, I don't know the exact science of getting characters lots of attention? A nice design is a good place to start, but it also probably has to do with having an interesting story and personality, one that people want to know about and read.

Smith is a fan favorite for a few reasons, if I had to guess;

Smith is a family man! He's the eldest brother, and in a way, a makeshift/stand-in father figure. I mentioned once that Smith wants to have a few kids of his own one day. A lot of people are into family dynamics! One of my favorite posts involving him was the comic of him struggling to help Goldie with her math homework.

He's a complex, flawed character. He's got a lot of vices. He's done a lot of bad things in the past, and still continues to do bad things. But he also takes accountability for his mistakes, holds onto guilt, and tries to make things right when he realizes he's messed up. Smith apologizes.

Some people just prefer the more rural vibe of a farmhand guy who works on an orchard. A muscled sweaty dude in a tank-top lifting 50 lb bags of topsoil is nice to look at :)

He's admittedly. just an asshole?? And sometimes that's all you need!!!

Cain is a little different, because he doesn't have MUCH story or personality, so maybe a nice looking design could be enough? :)
