I recently got a comment about the use of the term Bird Pope within my charity one-shot Worth far more than your weight in gold, specifically about the world building implied there considering [Kristin] and [Philza] are notably very inhuman bird monsters (Ravengences). Specifically, the question was if there was Bird Catholicism and Bird Jesus died on the Bird Cross of Lorraine. (I think it would have to be a more complex shape given the extra wing limbs! Or perhaps an Orthodox Cross to pin the tail too?)

Anyway, let's examine the text between [Kristin] and [Philza] and the translator's note:

[Kristin's] expression changed utterly to one of delight, kneeling to affectionately bump her forehead against [Philza's]. “Praise be to the gods, I thought I was going to have to [bird divorce] you,” [Kristin] said with a relieved sigh, nuzzling into the crook of his neck.  (*While Bird Divorce is not forbidden, it is strongly discouraged by the Bird Pope.)

To explore Weight in Gold's species’ religious stance, I examined what terms they use:

Techno uses Gods (capital, plural). Ravengences refer to the seven winds (non capital, plural), gods (non capital, plural), and the Bird Pope (Capital, singular (*according to the translator)). Given Catholicism really emphasizes the singular God bit, I deduce Catholicism did not come from Piglins and Ravengences. Thus I am sadly assuming Worth in gold!Jesus was neither bird nor pig (which is good since pork is not kosher!).

As for humans, they are not worshiping Prime (as in, a god named Prime). Church Prime is the first church in the area. Akin to the format of First [Denomination] Church of [Town]. They worship the Catholic God, and centuries ago were very heavy into evangelizing. Has to be a very long time ago since Ravengences are mostly considered legends in the current time period, and aren’t particularly assumed to be sapient beings. So for the Ravengences it’s more of a legacy of cultural exchange than anything that’s happened of late.

Techno makes a lot of snide comments about the human church, and mentions not doing his sacrifices. But he does bite his tongue because the Church holds a LOT of power in human settlements. From this I gather Piglins on the whole are not Catholic, though as minorities have to navigate the sociopolitical power of the religion they don’t practice. Specifically, I note the way Techno uses the term Gods (capital, plural) which feels to me like a linguistic quirk picked up after the emphasis Catholics put on a capital G God, but in strict defiance of Catholicism by making it plural to reflect Piglins’ own pantheon before the humans started evangelizing. Along the line of 'Nyeh! Our Gods are just as important as yours!' Since we don’t see anyone trying to convert Techno, I reckon it’s something lots of wars were fought about way back when, humans eventually giving up (and probably writing Piglins off as demons in the process). Piglins rejected churches, partially rooted in the fact a central part is in money and donating it, and 1. Piglins do NOT give their gold away except in very intricate and personal situations and 2. Piglins think money is stupid. Using gold for fancy banners and clothing and murals (which Catholicism is very fond of) also didn’t fly with the Piglins. So a major part of human worship involves the (perceived!) frivolous use of gold, which is a big rift between human and Piglin culture.

Ravengences however do have a culture around donating gold, so it wasn’t as much as a massive conflict with human doctrine. In fact it helped facilitate the transfers in a way they liked. I imagine early evangelism with them was a desperate attempt to stop temple raids and was shockingly successful all things considered. To Ravengences, Catholic God is yet another god, added into the pantheon for flavor. I imagine they refer to God as god, since as tricky as crossing that language barrier is that particulars of capitalizing god names probably didn’t make it across. (Ravengences are seen only capitalizing names and the term Ravengence). Ravengences didn’t really agree with the whole abandoning their original gods things (what? You want me to STOP worshiping the seven winds? AND NEVER BE ABLE TO SAFELY FLY AGAIN? Are you MAD?!) and tended to eat conversionists who insisted on that point a little too firmly. The humans likely decided to shrug and declare that the Ravengence gods were really just saints if you think about it, so it’s probably okay please stop eating us now. And as the cultures lost contact, likely a lot of changes piled up in the centuries to follow. Ravengences probably lost the Catholic God (because of said lack of capital differentiation, and the lack of a name is tricky to keep track of when you have a lot of gods). But, positions like Bird Pope, which have lots of practical use regarding the distribution of donation gold so that families can have children, are likely vital to Ravengence society, and so remained, albeit looking very different to human popes. And the Bird Pope hates divorces, because Ravengences tend to want to take all of the gold for their new family, and the ex spouses probably tend to kill each other over it. Since, again, Ravengences are fond of the death penalty.

Alternatively: notably [bird divorce] [bird husband/wife] are within the translator's personal choices to explain concepts to a human audience, the mention of Bird Pope being within a translator's addendum. Even to the extent that within [Kristin’s] dialogue [bird divorce] is lower case, but the translator uses uppercase, further cementing the linguistic differences between Humans and Ravengences. So Bird Pope (capitalized) is how a human explains Ravengence culture to other humans, and may not reflect the capitalization Ravengences use (as they tend towards none) or even really the actual Ravengence cultural role being described. So all of what I just world builded could also be scratched out and explained with 'human translator trying to simplify for a human audience'. but one of those answers is a lot more fun!

Nothing made Quackitys skin crawl worse than the feeling of falling. Tulip would probably do unspeakable things first than falling. He didn't have a fear of heights, quite the contrary the higher she was the more free the duck hybrid felt. There was nothing more pleasant to them than the feeling of being high up and feeling the fresh cold air on your skin, the feeling of being so high being thrilling more than anything. It's is as if the fact that regen is so high, the wind almost blowing tulip from regens feet, which made regen so happy.

But right now something was clearly wrong. Regen can't exactly place why, which made zips already quickened breath even faster, for why was power feeling so wrong. Zip didn't really understand the meaning of that, the view from the cliff was beautiful. The bluest and wildest waves were hitting the cliff below, the scent of salt mixed in with the strong gusts of wind blowing towards Quackity. The sun was slowly going down as if to take a dip in the ocean. It was a truly magnificent sight to behold, but it only made Quackity panic even more. Even though the wind was strong there seemed to be no air left in zips lungs.

It only took a blink of an eye until Quackity slipped on nothing and started to plumet down the cliff. Power tried to flap powers wings, but straight up fear consumed him when she didn't feel any wings on her back. Feath, seemingly forgetting the fact that he was falling, started to manically look behind darkblueself in hope to find blues wings intact, but what he saw there, or the lack of something to see there, made her go pale in the face. Tulips wings just limp covered in blood, parallelised flopping in the wind just like regens legs.

Zip seemed to be falling for an eternity and some more letting out a scream while going down, before hitting the water.

But the water never came, instead regen quickly sat up eyes wide in shock, zips fight or flight activated. Power flinched hard when the door was quickly opened by a dark figure with shining green eyes. But Quackity didn't care for the intruder, normally shouting at whoever dare enter his personal space without knocking first at least, feath quickly started to turn around looking behind himself to check on her wings. Her breath became shorter and tulips vision got somehow darker, even though the room was already drenched in darkness since it appeared to be still night.

The big figure that entered the door was Foolish, but in the moment Quackity just couldn't recognise him. Foolish was tired, very much so, building was no easy task even if gold was used to doing it all day and night, but he got woken up by the others screams. Gold expected many things to see, fools boss flailing around in panic whispering things he couldn't quite understand was not one of them. The other seemed in distress, so much so that she didn't even knowledge the others presence. Even though trip promised foolself that he would not get close to the other, sym couldn't help but feel concerned about the others state. Trip inched closer to Quackity grabbing zips hands, which were hopelessly searching for something on his back that wasn't there. The touch made power finally focus on pick, not without flinching hard, but to Foolishes luck the man didn't protest or try to get away from gold.

Quietly Quackity repeated what she seemed to be muttering the whole time was "Where are my wings?" The builder looked into paniced eyes in confusion. What wings? The last time he checked syms boss was no hybrid of any kind.

Foolish didn't know how the other managed to do it, but somehow sym started to feel pity towards Quackity. There was this paranoia in feathers frantic gaze, panic mixed in with darks voice with a hint of sadness.

Foolishes grip tightened around Quackities hands, not to tight to hurt tulip, but enough to not let regen hit pick when he asked the following "Quackity,,,,,what wings?"

That was definitely the wrong thing to ask in that moment, seeing as the human started flailing more, trying to get away from Foolish, in desperation she even started to try to hit fool in golds chest. Quackity just screamed "My wings?! Foolish where are my wings?!"

Quackity just screamed until darks throat seemed to be sore and her energy started to dwindle. The only sounds that came from Quackity were broken sobs, which made Foolish embrace power, avoiding to touch zips upper back as to not potentialy trigger the other again.

Although Foolish likes to be a little goofy at times, he is no idiot and slowly he thinks he knows what is going on. One does not life for as long as pick and not know what is going on right now. But although he has heard of people not really feeling like their species, trip has never dealt with anything like this before. Maybe he should get Fundy,or even Purpled.

Low broken whispers of "My wings-" came from the human making featherself cry more and breaking pick from golds thoughts. From behind Foolish grabbed the discarded blanked in which Quackity was wrapped in before when she was asleep and draped it over tulips shoulders as to provide some weight on regens back. Maybe that would give Quackity some familiar weight that wings would usually provide.

Thankfully it seemed like the right move, seeing as the human started to calm down. No sobs came from zip anymore. Foolish slowly unwraped golds bosses hands from around fool and gently laid Quackity down. The human sleeping again, this time a calm expression on her face as if nothing ever happened.

Foolish didn't linger in the bed, as soon as Foolish draped a blanked over Quackity sym made sure to get out of the room. They aren't friends after all, just business partners. The builder made sure to repeat that to himself a couple of times to remind goldself where fool stood with the other. Pick shouldn't start to sympathise with the other, Quackity left sym to die, so why should he care if feather has some species dysphoria, why should pick care if regen had a nightmare?

A sigh escaped the demigod while walking through the quiet hallway. Whatever will he do with the other?

If Foolish made a mental note to goldself, to ask Sam to design some mechanical wings before trip went to sleep it was syms business and his alone.

“TOMMY?” Tubbo all but shouted, Bee wings on his back starting to go abuzz with flutters. “TOMMY! TOMMY!” Tubbo launched himself at the taller male and started laughing and hugging him, Tommy looking over Tubbo’s shoulder at Techno in shock.

“IT’S SO GOOD TO SEE YOU BIG MAN!!” Tubbo pulled back, all smiles. No disappointment. The wings were new, but he was too focused on the fact Tubbo was happy to see him. And…his scars! He didn’t have any!

Ok here we go back into posting the next batch of characters, starting with AHTFF!Tubbo. i never really finished his redesign but i like how it ended up enough regardless lol

I’m posting the art i made for my retired (incomplete) fic AHTFF, since most people agreed that i should post it. it’s a 70k+ 22 ch fic centered on SBI/Fantasy/Found Family, Timeline hopping, and sort of post-exile. Things get absurdly sweet in parts (though there is still a ton of drama and angst) so fair warning the cringe level might be a bit high for you.

Don’t follow me for DSMP content, i’m not producing art for it. I’m posting what i have, then it will be back to MDZS!

last year, i ran a survey to gauge tumblr's headcanons of the dream smp characters' species, and have decided to turn it into an annual thing! as always, here is the full powerpoint + the full data spread, for anyone who wants to look through them! thank you all for your continued participation, and i hope to see you again next year for round three!

It would be horribly difficult to try to explain it in their primitive tongue.”

yeah Phil, a real shame the 500 IQ Culture intricacies escapes the smooth brain of the plebeian normies (who think you are the equivalent of a clever dog).

Skywarians - Species List

Skywarians are born with a color for a team and have to just commit to it and it’s not genetic seems to be decided on different factors so your mom could be pink and your dad brown and you be lime

These creatures are very into entertainment like the sky wars which are competitions of strength, skill, smarts, and agility this is actually important enough to their society that they’ve evolved to more easily do these

They also like competitions like race car races, and one on one fights, hide and seeking games, and more they really like their competition or at least their society has conditioned them to do so

Traits

They got sticky paw pads to climb up walls and the paw pads are in your color

They have long thin tails with fur at the end (think lion tails but longer slicker fur at the end almost like a feather) that are usually wagging if happy or flicking back and forth at different speeds depending on emotion their tails are always moving unless they train themselves to not have it always moving

They have antenna that can sense air currents it’s like a second pair of eyes not strong eyes but they can sense around 5 inches around the antenna or more if they train themselves but may not notice something till it moves

They got pointed ears that are a bit bigger then human ears for better catching of sound and the points of the ears are in their color

They got blood colored based on team and certain veins may be where you can see them but that’s normal on certain Skywarians but if it just starts happening randomly past age 10 that may mean the Skywarian is ill

Temperature is always cold from 55°F-65°F their body keeps them at that temperature or if they get too warm their organs and veins get unhealthy and may fail

They usually have blond or white hair but other traits such as markings, tails, eyes, ear tips, blood, wings, paw pads, antenna and other things will be in your color also they somehow have human like skin colors but some are lighter or darker then what’s possible for a human (think colorless whites and pitch blacks) it’s really rare but possible in their genetics. They commonly also have something like Vitiligo but it can be spots of either other skin colors(rarer) or your color(almost everyone has these) and is more just markings either defined or really random. Freckles also can be of your color

Albinos are possible and would have red eyes despite their color so they’ll probably be classified a red despite how their personality will match the color they are might be kind of overwhelming to them

The colors on them can glow if they so choose to but they have to decide to do so it won’t happen otherwise

Gender does not matter to these guys but a lot do present masculinely or androgynous given they tend towards that over feminine characteristics but may like long hair if they weren’t fighting each other for sport where it could be pulled also they may use feminine pronouns

Outfits depend on the person but something similar to hoodies are common outside of the fights given the species likes the softness also in fights they avoid anything that could be grabbed usually some precautions being they have turtleneck based shirts that stick close to their skin along with long sleeves that just end in gloves and it’s themed in their color they also usually just wear this under everything

Colors and Traits

Red are usually more angry then usual and aggressive they may lean towards swords

Blue are calm and precise and usually use bows also they have bug like wings

Yellow are usually calculative and charismatic they may use their words over fighting also they have bug like wings

Orange are usually cheerful and are now users

Purple are usually sneaky and smart may sneak around and act kind of cold to others which matches how they are the coldest in temperature and may use any weapons

Pink are brave and use swords

Brown are creative and bow users

Black are usually outcasts but they sneak around dark areas being great scouts also they’ll usually make alliances if anyone agrees they use swords

Grey are outcasts as well but don’t try to make connections and they use a lot of weapons

Green are aggressive more then red they use swords also they have bug like wings

Lime are sweet and friendly but people are wary because of the greens they use bows also they have bug like wings

Cyan are silly and pull pranks and use bows

The colors only matter during battle otherwise all get along being families and friends and partners but when fighting they fight each other with few rules of competition like

Don’t kill someone purposefully

If someone says their down they are down

Don’t attack someone trying to retrieve a injured

If someone is dying pause and try to help

There’s a few leagues for them to fight in

Kiddos (5-10 in training)

Promising Kiddos (Stronger 5-10s)

Young (11-18)

Promising Young (Stronger 11-18)

True Warriors (18+)

Trained True Warriors (Stronger 18+)

Elders (Elders depends on the person they’ll be classified)

Let’s look at the two who exist so far

Astin is a purple one and actually is blinded but is still a purple clearly with how he will sometimes be sneaky and cold also he uses a sword given without his sight a bow is kind of hard to aim he’s actually in the promising categories given he was really good at it also he’s adapted to his blindness with his antenna and being good at hearing and smelling

Whiterose is a Yellow and he’s actually changed his theming to a white coloration with yellow detailing with accessories and his few yellow freckles that he usually uses makeup to cover also he’s got wings that kind of reflect bee wings which he really enjoys but hides in his hoodie also he has long hair in a ponytail which he hides his antenna in so only non human trait he shows off is his tail which he tends to still when being professional to show how much control he has over his own body also he uses a axe given those weren’t on the skywarian planet but once he found one he found it a great weapon!

I just made a entire detailed species for two characters in a dsmp rewrite I’m doing for my autism but like feel free to make ocs just credit me for the species tbh also I might add more later especially about their original world

‘Even though he’s not our Tommy, he’s a lot like him, huh?’

“Yeah…he is.”

 “You look like you’re having a rough time,” George addressed, letting out a deep sigh and taking in the other’s state. This guy looked more like a ghost than any living being George had ever seen. It was haunting, like he’d never been human at all. “Your family is worried. I assume you dug in here to look for Tommy?”
