When the doorbell rings at two in the morning, it's never good news.

Tommy Innit Watson would have been woken by the first chime, if he hadn't already been up playing Minecraft. His eyes widened in mild surprise but for a moment he stayed completely still in front of his computer, Minecraft cows milling about peacefully in their field. He heard a bedroom door open and a creak of wood as somebody went downstairs. The bell rang a second time and he looked at the tiny digital clock on the corner of his screen. 2:03 a.m. There was muffled swearing as someone slid the security chain off the front door.

"This better be fucking impor- oh. Shit. Uhh, hello officers. How can I help you?"

"...Excuse the question sir, but er, are you wearing...?"

"...Oh. Oops. Really sorry officers, let me just... go grab some pants real quick."

The front door slammed shut and there were hurried footsteps making a mad dash up the stairs. Tommy snickered. His babysitter slash housekeeper slash blood-brother-he-would-kill-and-die-for, Charlie, had apparently forgotten that he sleeps exclusively in his underwear.

(Obligatory @greenbeany I don't know what this is or why I did it, I just copypasted the first paragraph or so of Stormbreaker and messed around with the words a lil bit lol.)

(P. S. Also the time was changed from 3:02 a.m. to 2:03 a.m. as a slight nod to my younger self, because for some reason, younger me misremembered it as 2 in the morning. I thought it was 2 a.m. for years, until I finally started on a reread after getting properly into the AR fandom.)

Korean DSMP (AUs) would be hilarious, but Korean Alex Rider would never work. Because missions be darned, you ain't dragging a Korean kid out of school for anything. (The ones who are serious abt studying at least.) Also, Korean!Alex would absolutely record everything Blunt says and post it on social media, going viral in a mere couple of hours. It's Alex after all, he's deffo sneaky enough to do that. I mean, unless Blunt bribes him with a freepass into Seoul University(the most prestigious college in Korea), Korean!Alex is NOT going on any missions.

Korean Artemis Fowl might work ig, something doesn't feel quite right to me but I can't think of any major issues atm. Maybe the fact that Artemis missed so much school, which is NOT happening in Korea. We only get a handful of days off for illnesses(a reasonable amount for any common illness, but definitely way less than Artemis would want), plus 10 days for "Home Education(basically for family trips and stuff)". Miss any more school, and you might be held back. We also have Period Absences (originally meant for when your period is particularly bad, but a lotta ppl use it as a free day off/as an excuse if you've slept in) but those are only once per month. Coming in late/going home early counts as well. So. Yeah. Artemis is NOT bunking off that much school, and if he does, the LEP might have to do a mass mesmerizing.

I just wanna say, if you aren't American, definitely try setting a modern AU in your country. Fill it with the things you know, to breathe life into it. It's really nice to see new settings, to open up a fic and go 'oh wait, hold up, I know that place'. It might only apply to a few people who read your fic but it's really rewarding to get that feedback.

Uuuuhhhh anyway!! Bedrock Bros bc we love Bedrock Bros in this house!!! Phil got discovered/fought his prodigy/got betrayed a little later than John did in AR canon, so Techno met baby Tommy a few times. Tommy's blue sweater coming from Techno was what we agreed on I think!

Anyway even though Techno felt betrayed by Phil being a spy, I think his feelings are a little different than Yassen. With Yassen it was pretty complicated, with him already being committed to Scorpia/the morally grey(like, really really dark grey) side, still being grateful to John for saving his life, etc. Meanwhile Techno would betray the Eggpire for one corn chip- if said corn chip was Phil. He was just angry Phil never told him.

Also, staying with the Eggpire means he can keep an eye out for Phil's remaining family, so that's what he does till one day he sees Tommy(Techno had been keeping track of him so he knows what Tommy looks like, but the kid looks exactly like Phil anyway) in a... rich kid boarding school?? And he's going by Tommy Outit(/ref)??? Bruh???

Tommy, of course does NOT recognize Techno and he's like Why is that guy looking at me like he recognizes me. Meanwhile Techno is bluescreening bc Hey. Hey Kristin? Why is your son doing spy work? Kristin???

SJAKDSJAGSHDK I don't know much abt the hermits/life series-ers so I can't comment on Martyn and Etho, but Pac and Mike as the Grimaldi twins is hilarious. The mad scientist duo kidnapped Charlie to study him under a microscope >:( (/j)

Molly being Sabina is amazing, I was thinking more along the lines of dsmp canon but shuck it, I can and will bend all the rules for miss Molly Melinks our queen.

Okay so I... may have forgotten earlier that Techno is supposed to rage-stab Q's eye, so a little revision:

Phil is handing off info about the Eggpire, something that can only be passed on directly. Techno crashes the exchange, blindly swings his knife at the agents trying to subdue him and catches Quackity's face(ow). He then proceeds to yell at Phil while Quackity gets medical treatment, after Phil forbade ppl from attacking Techno. Q isn't hurt enough to be in active danger, but the eye is deffo gonna need more treatment(idk if it's gonna be completely blinded, partially, or even just minimal loss of sight- just enough to be inconvenient for a field agent. Phil needs to focus on Techno and not Q here, so I don't think Q should be hurt enough to be considered critical, especially since Phil and Q have a mentor-mentee relationship here as well as Emduo.) and there's gonna be scarring.

Anyway Phil agrees to include Techno in his spying gig(?), this can be his trial period of sorts. Phil gets pulled out earlier than Techno for some reason(read: then-MI6 head XD didn't trust Techno and wasn't planning on recruiting him. He told Phil he'd bring Techno in though, and since XD had never lied to Phil before, Phil had no reason not to trust him. Dream isn't aware of this bc XD buried any & all records of Techno's potential recruitment.), but then Phil dies and... the operation kinda falls apart. Techno doesn't try to contact & ask MI6 about his recruitment, and MI6 never contacts him back.

Quackity is bitter bc he got moved off active service & got stuck doing in-office jobs, plus Phil was obviously more worried abt Techno during the confrontation. He jealous :(

Thought abt it a bit more, maybe Quackity was Phil's assistant/protégé in MI6? It was his first time in the field as a fully-fledged operative. He was waiting for Phil w a helicopter on standby, ready to pull him out of... whatever Scorpia is called in this AU. What nobody expected was Technoblade suddenly appearing and killing all the other operatives, and scarring Quackity in the face(and blinding him in one eye). Dream doesn't want Quackity in the field(a blind eye could be dangerous, also his scar makes him noticable- though a little makeup should fix the problem short-term, longer missions would be harder since the makeup would need to be reapplied every now and then), which makes Quackity go rogue.

Oh and, I wasn't really planning to kill off Techno, bc a) we all know Yassen isn't really dead, wdym he's dead, nope he's alive and well, Ahorz is lying to us(/hj), b) I still need 4/4 SBI... and c) Technoblade never dies. 👑

I thought Techno might take Tommy to "Scorpia" without telling him the full story, mostly bc he knows Tommy wouldn't come with him otherwise and he needs to get Tommy out of Dream's reach. (Not sure if the setting would be Britain, or a made-up country called idk, Essempi or L'Manburg) When Tommy finds out he wasn't told the entire truth we get ANGST

Speaking of angst, the fact that you read Passerine just like that made my respect for you increase by 100p and my fear of you by 1000p

Cue Techno desperately tryna get Tommy to talk to him but Tommy never responding, because he's in hospital for a bullet in the heart but Techno doesn't know that

I thought they could show up at the end or smth. Idk why they might have gotten kidnapped, but I was thinking, even with all their skill and expertise, they wouldn't be able to make it in time to save Wilbur. Also potential Emerald duo confrontation. ANGST
