This is Dream Catcher AU!!! It used to be called OMORI au but the story strays away from the actual story of OMORI so yep !!!

i’m making an AU about butters!

a plague of nightmares is bringing the spirits of south park down, and butters has taken it upon himself to solve it! he has a toy wand that he uses in dreams, where he can use his strong imagination to defeat all things evil through.

the story is still a WIP, so please let me know if anyone is interested, and if so, i will keep this account updated with the things i create for this AU! i’m currently making a mini comic so if people enjoy this i will share it! (also i don’t expect anything of course, but i’d appreciate asks so you can help me define little details about this world!!!)

DREAM CATCHER — 05. that look

You took a few deep breaths as you bounced on the balls of your feet and hummed the first song prepared in the set. You eagerly tapped your drumsticks against the wall to the beat of one of Navia and Clorinde’s songs.

Your inability to stand still made Kuni grab onto your shoulder and turn you to face him and Xiao, who was tuning Kuni’s guitar for him.

“Stop that, it’s annoying me.” Kuni growled, leaning his arm on your shoulder.

You sent him a half-hearted glare and attempted to stick one of your drumsticks up his nose. He flinched away from you almost instantly with a scowl on his face as you snickered.

You grabbed his hand and ran your fingers over his many rings— most of which you gave him for his birthday.

He curled his fingers around yours and shuffled closer to you. “You ready?”

“You bet!” you answered excitedly.

Even after years of performing, you still had stage fright. The anxiety you felt before stepping on stage made you feel like you were going to vomit, but the excitement would always override the nervousness in your heart.

Xiao wrapped his arm around yours and Kuni’s shoulders, resting his head between the two of you. “Two minutes,” he told you, his voice shaking a little.

You raised a hand to his cheek, tapping it softly. You sent him a smile. “Ready, pretty boy? You’ll be fine.”

Both you and Kuni were well aware of Xiao’s stage fright. However, no one could ever guess that he had it with how confident he presented himself on stage. He was undoubtedly a performer, despite his own objections to that statement.

He sent you a tired glare and dug his face into your hair. You felt him smile against your neck. “I’m not scared.”

“Mhm sure,” Kuni smirked, leaning close to Xiao, his nose inches away from the stoic-faced man. Xiao pushed Kuni’s face away with his hand, causing Kuni to laugh loudly.

A red tint settled over Xiao’s cheeks, and before you could tell Kuni not to provoke him, the man was teasing Xiao to hell and back. The two boys were arguing in no time, causing you to sigh.

They’ll kiss and make up later, it’s fine.

“Hey idiots, it’s time!” You yelled at them, watching as they both shoved each other towards the stage.

You watched as Kuni grabbed his guitar from Xiao and ran on stage, raising his hands into the air and introducing himself. The crowd erupted into a fit of cheers.

With a burst of confidence that you never knew he had, Xiao kissed your cheek before Kuni announced his name and he walked on stage, greeting the crowd with a hand raised into the air. Ear piercing screams followed, making you chuckle under your breath.

Xiao was the fan favorite after Kuni, and you were content not being a fan favorite at all. However, Xiao always argued that you were loved way more than he was (which you claimed was a lie). And in your manager’s words, you were “the people’s princess.”

Kuni announced your name, and you ran on stage, pulling both of the boys into a side hug and kissing their cheeks before you sat at your drum set. The crowd cheered louder than before at your entrance.

Adjusting his mic, Kuni looked at the sold out concert hall. “I was going to say ‘good evening’, but never mind, I don’t care how any of you are doing tonight.” He said into his mic, prompting the crowd to laugh.

You twirled your drumstick around. “He’s especially sassy today, don’t listen to him.”

Kuni turned around to flip you off before he sighed into the mic. “Alright, Dornman. Let’s blow the roof off this place. This song is called The Fire, The Dark.”

[One Piece - ASL Solo Trio AU]

That day, he didn't lose one brother. That day, Luffy lost both of his brothers. And everything changed.

This is a story about a Luffy who lived through his childhood alone, about a Luffy who lost both of his brothers.

eclipse (the day the sun was eaten)

Four days after the fire, Dorga came back with bad news.

Four days after the fire, Dadan came back alone.

That day, he didn't lose one brother. That day, Luffy lost both of his brothers. And everything changed.

Luffy stayed on the cliff where the three of them promised to be free. He didn't want to move. Hence, he didn't even want to live. After all, his brothers were...

=Dream Catcher=

Three days ago...

"What do you mean!?!"

Luffy shouted. Dorga can't be telling the truth. He had to be wrong. That what he said had to be a lie. C-cause there was no way Sabo was dead, there was no way Sabo would leave them to set sail alone.

Except Sabo had left them. To protect him and Ace but he still had left them. And Sabo hated his parents, hated his previous life. He wasn't happy, he wasn't free. Of course, Sabo would want to get away from that place, just like what Luffy told Ace.

Oh god, Ace.

Ace who said that Sabo would be better off without them, who Luffy knew will blame himself for all of this. Cause Luffy isn't stupid. Okay, maybe a little but he knew enough thank you very much. And he knew that if Ace was here, he would be so sad and angry and-

If Ace was here. But he wasn't. So Luffy wouldn't cry yet no matter how much he wanted to cry, to be sad, to mourn- But Ace wasn't here so Luffy waited.

...

It wasn't even an hour later that Dadan came back. Alone. With no Ace.

Just one look at her eyes and Luffy cried.

Luffy was alone.

And it was terrifying. He didn't really remember those days before. Days when he had no one. Days when he was all alone. He only remembered, only truly lived when he met them, his brothers. The days before were never really a matter. He only remembered the time he spent with Shanks crew, the time he stayed at Party Bar with Makino, and even the time he 'trained' with his Gramps but never the time he was alone.

And now he was here, alone again.

He never truly thought about it before, not after their sworn brotherhood. Because he thought that they would never leave him, not after he told them that being alone hurts worse than being hurt.

And it's hurt. It hurt so much that he wanted to scream, to shout at the people who let it happen, at Sabo's dad for taking him away, at the nobles of this kingdom for burning the Grey Terminal, at Bluejam for starting the fire and for locking Ace and Luffy up, at the stupid World Noble for shooting Sabo's boat when he just wanted to be free, at the whole world like Dadan said. But most of all, he wanted to scream at himself because he was too useless, too weak to protect anything including himself. If he was stronger, Sabo wouldn't had to leave to protect them. If he was stronger, Ace and Dadan wouldn't had to be injured to protect him. If he had been stronger, Ace would have survived. Except he wasn't. And now both of them were gone forever.

=Dream Catcher=

Luffy opened his eyes and realized that he wasn't on the cliff anymore. He was at Dadan country. Somebody probably brought him back when he was unconscious.

"Brat, you're awake?"

Luffy turned his head and saw Dadan sitting near him. And god, she looked horrible, like she hadn't slept for days, which is probably true. (He would never forget the look in her eyes, the way her heart bled when she said that Ace was gone, the way her heart shattered when she heard about Sabo's death- like how he would never forget the way she called herself their parent.)

He closed his eyes and didn't answer.

"Brat, you know that I can see your eyes right?" She said sarcastically.

"...what?" He mumbled.

"Don't die." She said.

He took in a hitched breath but didn't reply. He listened a sigh left her mouth and something stumbled. He opened his eyes a little and got a peek at her standing up and leaving.

Before she left him alone, he heard her voice again, this time slightly trembling.

"...just don't die. You're the only brat left." "You're the only brat I have left." left unsaid.

The Former Nightmare Critter

(Theory a little lower this post)

Decided to make a drawing similar to how Mob Entertainment showed the Nightmare Critters but this time with the idea of Catnap being one of the Nightmare Critters in the past.

His name when he was with the Nightmare Critters was "Nightmare of "Night" as shown. To be honest, none of the critters knows Catnap's real name, they just give whatever name and see if it sticks which in this case was "Night".

The Nightmare Critters represent negative traits typically such as laziness, gossip spreading, narcissism, etc. For Nightmare, the negative traits he takes after are his unsettling nature, obsessive loyalty, and the nightmares he often provides as punishment if a Nightmare Critter goes too far. His charm is a dream catcher which I figured would make sense.

Some additional facts include the extra markings painted by Simon because he thought it would make Nightmare look cooler, the fact that his smell is still Lavender which is also a nickname(Lavender) that Baba has for Nightmare(I also imagine Dogday giving him more moon-like nicknames such as "Moon", "Moonlight" etc.), and Touille was the replacement for Nightmare once he left.

The Nightmare Critters still view Nightmare/Catnap positively but admittedly a couple of them felt hurt and betrayed when Catnap left to be with Dogday. They consider Dogday to be someone who "stole" Nightmare away from them because he was the reason Nightmare left after all.

Now, although this could be easily an Au, there can be some parts of this that could make sense being added onto the story of Poppy Playtime especially with the lore of the line of Nightmare Critters even after the Smiling Critters were deemed a failure.

Imagine this, the Smiling Critters began failing and one of the main reasons was because Catnap often was considered creepy by children watching the show, and the "Catnap Killer" incidents where the plush caused horrific nightmares made things worse. They couldn't get rid of all of it because it had already launched and Playtime Co. was forced to innovate and find a new solution to this issue.

They realized that if these characters were considered too creepy for children, then why not make a variation that would be for older audiences, thus making the Nightmare Critters. With this, they could use the Nightmare Critters as their explanation for certain things about the Smiling Critters such as why Catnap was more creepier than the others.

Why? Simple. Catnap was a former Nightmare Critter. That's why he's the odd one among the other Smiling Critters. That's why he would be the one giving "violent nightmares" as that might just be a shadow of his former self bleeding once in a while(the name matches as well). It might not be perfect but it could do the trick and if things went well enough, then they could use this plot point as an explanation for why the Nightmare Critters would be against the Smiling Critters.

I'm not saying that idea is canon or going to be canon but if it ever has something similar to this, I wouldn't be surprised.

Now then, going back to the "Night", what are some of your headcanons and ideas about the relationship and possible interaction between Nightmare and the other members?

I love the concept of your Dreamcaptor au so much!! But the fact that the orb that Bills trapped is meat to represent the axolotl caught me a bit off guard because I thought that it was a dream catcher!!

Anyway, I love that Fidds and Stan work together at the shack, that dipper seems to always be done with things and that Ford is unhinged here!

DREAM CATCHER — 03. discreet

As you scrolled through social media, liking every cat video on your timeline, you failed to notice someone walking towards you.

It was only when they knocked your baseball cap off your head that you looked up, an insult ready on your lips. You picked up your baseball cap and turned to the person, your scowl immediately turning to a smile at the sight of your best friend.

“Xiao!”

You threw your arms around his neck and pulled him in for a tight hug. “I’ve missed you so much. Life is so uninteresting without you and Kuni.”

Your complaining made him huff in amusement, a hint of a smile tugging at his lips as he snaked his arms around your waist. He sighed contentedly into your shoulder, muttering a small “I missed you too” under his breath.

When he pulled away, he took your hat from your hands and placed it back on your head. You sent him a smile and took his suitcase and backpack from him. Slinging his backpack over your shoulder, you began walking towards the entrance.

Xiao grabbed your phone and placed it in your back pocket for you. He grumbled, “I could’ve carried all of that myself.”

“Nonsense,” you shook your head. “How was your flight?”

The flight from Liyue Harbor to Dornman Port was an exceptionally long one. You knew that all too well since you often traveled back and forth between the two places. Your home in Dornman Port was farther up North in Mondstadt, which was quite the inconvenience when it came to traveling to Liyue Harbor or Sumeru City.

However, you liked the peace and quiet the port. Although it was bustling with people, it was much quieter than the main city on the lake. You’d take it over living in the city any day.

Xiao shrugged, sending a quick text to Zhongli that he arrived in Mondstadt safely. “It was okay. A lot of screaming babies.”

Your face scrunched up in disgust as the two of you exited the airport. “Damn, that sucks. Lucky it wasn’t longer than seven hours, though. You would’ve had to deal with them for longer.”

He groaned at the mere thought. He walked ahead of you, scouring the lanes for the car you’ve had since high school. He found it instantly, making a beeline for it.

You jogged ahead to catch up with him. He was one step ahead of your own thought process, as he opened the trunk for you to haul his things into. You did so effortlessly and climbed into your car.

As he buckled his seatbelt, you handed him your phone. He unlocked it (having known your password) and pulled up one of your rock playlists.

“Well, nothing’s changed with us, huh?” You sent him a smile.

He glanced at you. “What do you mean?”

“In our twenties and you’re still my passenger princess.” You smirked as he scoffed and turned away from you.

“Whatever.”

You shrugged and pulled out of the lanes. “What? I’m just stating the facts. You were always my passenger princess in high school too.”

Even now, you could remember how the two of you would always sneak away from your school’s band and go off on your own. Sure, it worried your band directors to see the two of you had gone missing during the trips, but they eventually got used to it.

You would show Xiao around Mondstadt, and he would show you around Liyue whenever your school’s band made the trip to Liyue Harbor. The two of you would spend nights wandering the streets, talking about anything and everything, and buying snacks or walking around inside shops.

You still had the jade elephant keychain he bought you during your senior year— the one you couldn’t afford because your family wasn’t doing so well financially. With his father’s money, he bought it for you, and you promised you’d always keep it with you. Now, it hung from your car keys.

Your favorite memory was when you were in Liyue Harbor during Lantern Rite. Both you and Xiao snuck off again, this time to the outskirts of the harbor. He showed you his handcrafted lantern he made, a proud glint in his eyes as you praised his handiwork.

When the fireworks went off, signaling the new year, you released the lantern into the sky together, and unexpectedly, Xiao kissed you. None of you dared to bring that up afterwards, but you could still remember how soft his lips were, and how gentle his hold was on your chin. And the way his golden eyes sparkled, holding a certain fondness for you and you only.

You took a quick glance at him, admiring him for a quick second as you stopped at a stoplight. Even though he was turned away from you, trying hard not to let you see his face, you could see a small, fond smile on his lips.

He made a hum of disagreement, but you could tell that those memories of the two of you from high school were as important to him as they were for you.
