She's lucky she came with that purse or I probably wouldn't have been pushed over the edge to buy her.

@dollsahoy Thank you for reminding me about the eyeliner you did before. I made a quick and dirty phone edit and it does help. Faux widening her mouth helps me a little too, but it's so deeply sculpted at the corners that I don't think I can pull it off in real life.

Barbie Dream Besties is a new line currently in stock in stores. As an utter casual to the world of dolls (I know a lot about Barbie, but my knowledge is shockingly niche), I can describe this style only as "Bratz-esque".

Rather than the typical Barbie style, these are differently proportioned: short with bigger heads. They also feature more casual clothing styles and a variety of accessories: makeup, phones, laptops, grooming supplies... and pizza?

At the moment, the line consists of four characters: Barbie (Malibu), Barbie (Brooklyn), Renee and Teresa.

This is particularly interesting to me because there have been startlingly few Teresas in the playline lately. There were frequent appearances from her debut in the late 80s through to the mid 2000s, then none at all between 2008 and 2021. Then there was one playline appearance, then one collectible in 2023, before her return in the Dream Besties line.

Renee and Brooklyn, by contrast, are newer characters in the doll ine: Renee first appeared in 2016, and Brooklyn (or at least, the first identification of an African-American Barbie by the name "Brooklyn") only appeared in the 2020s.

I pick up the dolls i ordered. The accessories were harder to get out of the box than thought. I thinking while struggling with it: “How does a young child able to open this when im an adult and i have a hard time.„

I ordered Dream besties Teresa and Brooklyn today. I will open Teresa first and put her next to Ghoulia obviously. Until i get all the ghouls and Heath, the dream besties (except Teresa) will be moved around a bit. I also forgot to lock the place where we store wood and dog got in there. Thankfully she just moved some stuff. Tomorrow me and my mom will talk to the math teacher. In the meantime i will write while listening to Lily simpson 4 hour Riverdale video.

I did end up driving way down to the Walmrt that had Dream Besties stock where I got Renee and Teresa before. They had a few Malibus still and they seemed okayish on the face prints so I grabbed one.

I cannot make myself see her facial expression normally though. I can't decide what kind of repaint trickery might help. It's the mouth, it's awkward.

Maybe I'll like her better once I get through this SUPER GRUMPY pms.

I also can't find thread or yarn or anything in that shade of pink so I'm mad about that too. I fell back on solid white but it's not very fun. I kinda want to cannibalize the flowers off her gloves and put them on the cardigan ...

So...yeah. I know people are going to compare these to Bratz, and bitch about the hair tinsel, and the clothing (which admittedly could be better). Don't care. I think they're cute and their Ever After High-esque faces are really sweet (@dollsahoy please remind me who did these sculpts again?).

At any rate, I'm fairly confident Brooklyn, Teresa, and Nolee Renee will be joining my collection as soon as I can manage it. As for Malibu...she's bound to go on sale eventually XD
