BC/Arkham Horror LCG Crossover

As I was losing my mind making investigator cards, I was, ofc, talking with @kalolasfantasyworld, and she asked if I could make cards for Helena.

I wish I could say I did most of the work but that's not true because I asked waaaaay too many questions to Lola about what to make for her OC, and she also had to quickly draw something for the weakness card. But anyway. There she is: Helena Drazel.

The first question was Guardian or Survivor for her. We came to the conclusion that she'd be a Survivor, but since most of her cards would be to heal and protect, I think I'd give her access to some Guardian cards (maybe level 1 only? I don't know if first aid kit or other healing cards have higher levels. I'd have to check).

That's a medic. So her entire play is about healing damage and horror. Paper Bandages is pretty powerful if Helena sticks to the other investigators (especially the fighters).

She's not an investigator that can be played alone

When she's not busy saving everyone's lives, she can probably find some clues. 3 in intelligence is decent for most locations.

The weakness is not too hard to deal with: you only lose one turn to discard it.

She'd better not find herself in a fight with a powerful enemy though. But since she sticks with the fighters to heal them, she'll be fine. And there's always... the baseball bat.

For the Japanese words ask game could I ask for Nozel (Nozeru Shiruva it's this in Rōmaji 🤔) and Helena? (Are we surprised? No 😂)

You can certainly ask for the both of them! And yes, no one is surprised by your choice of characters to ask for. But that's okay. We gotta have some consistency to ourselves. 💖

Now, time to show you the words I've come up with! Here we go!

So first up we have Nozel Silva. The words I've associated with him are 覆い隠す (ooikakusu) and 不幸 (fukou). 覆い隠す means "to mask, to conceal, to hide" and Nozel is known for masking his fear and self-loathing. He wears a mask of dignity and strength and hides the frustrated, mourning man he is deep down. The second word, 不幸, means "sorrow," "unhappiness," "disaster," and even "death (usually in a relatives)." And, well, Nozel experienced the tragedy of his mother's death and was left in a state of misery.

Now for Helena, her words are 繕う (tsukurou) and 西洋紙 (seiyoushi). 繕う means "to mend" or "to repair," as well as "to keep up appearances" in some contexts. And, albeit archaically, it means "to treat" like for an injury. It suits Helena as her royal status means she must be mindful of how she presents herself, her character is meant to help the Silva family mend as individuals and as a sibling unit, and she is a healer. Now for 西洋紙, it means "Western paper." Now obviously, it's a reference to Helena's Paper Magic but there's more to it. Usually it's only written as 洋紙 but I like the inclusion of 西 because while it literally means "west" it's also the character used for one version of writing the word for Spanish language 西語 (it's typically written スペイン語), and the Drazels are Hispanic if I recall correctly. So 西洋紙 felt like a good word to have a layered connection to your girl.

Paper Hearts anniversary

Today passes exactly a year since I published the first chapter of PH and at the same time joined the BC fandom.

I want to thank everyone who supported me through this amazing journey. Tumblr is annoying and is not letting me tag people so I will make few posts with some special thanks yous 🥺 Treat this post as the main one of sorts.

There will be few of these and I'm sorry I probably won't get to everyone. If you're not there please don't take it as if I don't appreciate you, because I really do. I also won't talk too much, because we would be sitting here all day, but I really wanted to thank few people directly. Also it's a PH anniversary, so that's what I'm focusing on with these.

Have a little art of my blorbos. These characters gave me so much and I didn't expect to love them as much as I did. I had PH plot obviously planned beforehand, but while writing I fully connected to the Silvas and in a way discovered Helena.

PH gave me so much this year. I talked to my friends about it when I was very emotional, that this fic in fact will come to an end at some point. It was then when I summarised some of the amazing things PH gave me.

This story is the reason I engaged in the fandom in the first place I wouldn't have posted my art if not for PH Posting the fic kind of started everything But it also brought so much change to my rl

It got me through a serious break up. I learned how to have fun by myself, made new friends, saw who were the fake ones, laughed a lot, cried as well, stayed up many nights, learned how to draw, had an escape when uni was hard, learned how to be true to myself and brave. but I suppose most of all PH brought back my inner child I lost it four years ago, when my life hit me hard and it took me 3 years to get it back to start dreaming and coming up with stories again to go back to my fantasy world

now you know the story behind my username 💕
