Ch211, Spoilers part 2
Artie and Theo had gone back into the water to get Finny. Maybe he thought he'd been left behind, and they had to reassure him they wouldn't do that? 🤷🏻‍♀️
Finny might have thought he was a goner for sure this time, but Oliver hugs Finny to thank him. Theo isn't wasting much time and gets to thinking about the jars of organs, perhaps the fact they don't have them anymore. What are they going to use as evidence, if they get to the authorities?
Theo says something else, then they look back to the orphanage.
Finny looks at the nearby windpump and is reminded of when he and Snake arrived. Then he starts to cry.
The chapter isn't over just yet. Ultimately, I hope Finny and the others figure out a way to break the windpump and flood the underground facilities, along with any staff that might still be down there.
But....

Choosing between sewage and drainage pumps is crucial when managing wastewater and excess water. Both pumps have specific applications and are designed to handle different types of water waste. In this article, we will explore the key differences between sewage and drainage pumps to help you decide on your specific needs.

A drainage pump is primarily intended for pumping surface and seepage water to different locations and groundwater. On the other hand, sewage pumps are mainly used for wastewater disposal. This includes, for example, pumping wastewater from collector sumps and pump station applications. Sewage pumps generally have a larger free passage than drainage pumps.
Drainage pumps for any application
Pumping muddy or sandy water out of a trench, draining a flooded cellar, draining a sump, emptying ponds or swimming pools or actively protecting against high water: They offer the right pump system for all drainage tasks – including accessories. These pumps are designed for safety and longevity: They are made of unbreakable plastic, robust stainless steel or grey cast iron and have particularly high-quality sealing systems. Drainage pumps manufacturers guarantee you can be sure that you are always on the safe side with all pumping and water systems.
Construction site and wastewater pumps – the specialists for heavy-duty work
The powerful construction site and wastewater pumps kick in when others give up. Whether it is suction and emptying of excavations with sandy or muddy construction site water, rainwater or groundwater, for our compelling models, it is irrelevant: they transport quantities from 7,500 to 28,000 litres per hour, even of heavily contaminated drain pipes and with dirt particles up to 50 millimetres in diameter.
Robust self-cleaning impellers with particularly quiet running, integrated overload protection and long-lasting sealing systems guarantee reliability. Drainage pumps can be used with great versatility. Of course, they are also suitable for automatic operation and continuous operation. Special applications – such as vacuuming cellars or emptying trenches – are no problem for these robust pumps.
Submersible combination pumps for versatile use
Combined submersible pumps are versatile and can be used for clear and sewage waters. For the TPS 16000 S Combi submersible pump, even dirt particles with a grain size of 30 millimetres are no problem. Submersible pumps combine three different applications in one compact machine.
In automatic operation with a float switch, submersible pumps are suitable as drainage pumps for sewage and wastewater. In manual operation, they can be used for suction close to the ground up to a residual water level of just one millimetre. The flexibility of the combined submersible pumps is evident in the simple and convenient change from one application to another and in adjusting the pump base for the respective function.

The cool and mildly scary thing about the area my dad's partner lives in is that because the land is SO flat there's fields running parallel to the road and houses that just turn into lakes when there's too much rain or the river overflows. Looks pretty, but also means that there's a flooding risk even with dams everywhere.
You can see where the usual drainage ditch is. Everything up to the trees on the other side is usually a field.
#one of her neighbors apparently has a constantly flooding basement and pumping water constantly#so the ditch in front of the property on the other side of the street was completely full#at least the house on that property was at least 20 meters away from it but uhh I sure hope they have better drainage#my dad's partner dug a drainage pipe? reservoir? 8 meters long and 1.5 meters deep along her property when she got the house#but yeah having a basement in this area is stupid as hell lol

So far the previous homeowners have:
-slapped vinyl siding directly over the original siding without even insulating between the two or properly securing the siding
-installed an above-ground well pump without providing an enclosure/insulation for said pump
-directed the water softener to drain underneath the house
#pump stopped working this morning bc the rust was frozen but we knocked off the rust and it’s working now#and we are temporarily directing the drain to a Rubbermaid container#next steps after the holiday are getting more pvc to drain the water to our drainage ditch#and replacing the rusted parts of the pump and building an enclosure for it#they really didn’t know how to take care of this house#also we have to insulate pretty much all of the pipes

Ch210 (p3), The wind pump
They get to the end of the tunnel on the right.
At first I wondered why they saw the drain and thought it was a dead end until someone heard running water. I guess it's because the water in the drain doesn't move fast enough to make that sound. It could be the river nearby that they hear.
I'd previously blogged about the wind pumps, more commonly called drainage windmills. Norfolk has a lot of them because the land is low-lying and might otherwise be a bit swampy. There are at least four rivers that help to drain the county: Wensum, Yare, Bure, and Ouse. Apparently, these wind pumps draw water away from areas that the rivers can't drain directly... then dump that water into a nearby river.
Artie is first to prepare for the water, and he mentions the mistletoe (parasitic plant). Mabel quickly follows suit, even though she's scared, because she's determined to help the other kids.
But Oliver refuses to leave because he can't swim. Perhaps he's hoping the staff will accept an apology from him if he stays? They don't know what part he's played in their activities, so far, so he could lie to stay alive... a little longer.
Finny rushes at Oliver to take him into the water with him, as staff open fire (which Oliver maybe wasn't expecting so soon, without first being questioned).
And Finny takes a bullet to the left calf, or possibly the shin. He has a bullet wound to his left shoulder from before, so that's two major wounds that are about to end up in the water... which probably isn't too clean. The bleeding will be worse in the water, but that's the only thing that might help keep the wounds from getting too infected. Unless he has healing abilities gained from the drug tests that we still haven't learned about....
We know he's strong, and we know he's tough (endurance), but is there more to it? Can he withstand these kinds of injuries?
And what will happen now that they -- including Oliver -- are in the water?
I'd love for them to make it to the mill. I wonder how long it would take to flood the underground tunnels and chambers (and drown those staff members), if they sabotaged the wind pump.
I'd also love for Mey-Rin and Ran-Mao to show up, on their way to a final meetup point. We don't know the instructions they were given after they completed their missions -- none of them -- so... perhaps they might meet up with Finny (but without Snake) in Norfolk anyway?

Good drainage is key to keeping your home or business safe from flooding, and a drainage pump can be an effective way of ensuring that the water stays away from where it’s not wanted. But with so many options on the market, how do you know which one is right for you? This guide will provide all the information you need to make an informed decision when selecting a drainage pump for your home or business.
What Is a Drainage Pump?
A drainage pump offered by drainage pumps manufacturers is designed specifically to remove excess groundwater and wastewater quickly and efficiently. They are commonly used in areas prone to floodings, such as those near rivers or creeks, but they can also come in handy during heavy rainfall events. These pumps work by drawing in large amounts of water at once and then forcing it through pipes into an area away from where it might cause damage such as a storm drain or other runoff area. By doing this, these pumps help keep homes and businesses dry during flood conditions.
Types of Drainage Pumps
There are several different types of drainage pumps available on the market today depending on what kind of task you need them for. Here are some common types:
Submersible – Submersible pumps sit below ground level inside sump pits or well systems; they use impellers to draw up large volumes of liquids at once before pumping them out again without any risk of clogging due to their enclosed design.
Centrifugal – Centrifugal pumps have impellers that spin rapidly within their casing; this helps create suction power which draws liquid up before pushing it back out through discharge pipes more quickly than submersible models can manage alone (they’re often used alongside submersibles).
Non-Submersible – Non-submersible models offered by drainage pumps manufacturers typically consist of diaphragm-type units with perforated plates lining the bottom side; these plates act like strainers allowing only certain-sized particles (like sand) to pass through while trapping debris larger than what would get stuck in other types of drains/pumps (these models tend to be better suited for larger jobs).
Things To Consider When Choosing The Right Drainage Pump For Your Home Or Business
Size & Capacity– Make sure when selecting a pump that its size matches your needs correctly; you want something big enough that won’t run too often but also not so powerful that it’s overkill (also consider capacity if dealing with multiple sources since most pumps have limits).
Location – Where will your drainage pump be located? If close proximity isn’t possible then make sure there’s a sufficient length between source point(s) and destination so pressure loss doesn’t become an issue further down line (especially important if using a centrifugal-type model); additionally check local regulations regarding placement just in case permits may be required first prior installation taking place!
Environmental Factors – Take into account things like nearby tree roots that could interfere with lines being placed underground plus any potentially hazardous materials present due to exposure risks associated when handling said items around children/animals etc.Â
