This series is written as excerpts from Dawntreader's Guidebook, a novel written by the trezlin/drakling Tavra Fangrender under a pseudonym to avoid persecution by her own kind. The second entry is on her own people, the trezlin. Paper textures are from textures.com. Transcript Though I have written in Gren, I cannot assume that all who obtain this guidebook are Gren. It's unlikely to speak the tongue without hearing of my people, but who knows what may happen in the future. Records of these sorts may be valuable, so I shall document regardless.
While we have many words for ourselves, I'll choose the most scientific: we are draklings. It's more accurate to prefix us with 'forest' or 'nature' draklings, compared to those of the sea or desert, although few of us would ever bother to specify. We arescaled upright beings, like all draklings, and sport short horns and protective scutes on our cheekbones and backs. Every individual is different, but most males are of taller stature than females and are heavier built. We are collectively shades of green with different striping patterns based on differing regions of family origin. Using the Verdant Valley, the homeland of my people, as a point of reference: Southwesterners, such as myself, have forked and mottled striping patterns, even those beyond Vandell. Most valleyfolk and northerners come with more defined stripes. Southward, in and beyond the Scarwood, live those with spots. In-between dale and Scarwood live a folk with a mixture between the former two of broken spots and stripes. Those of the most notable nations are known as the Gren, a strong-willed, prolific, and powerful people. They have spread across much of the Verdant Valley, forming multiple distinct nations and governing bodies. Namely, these are Vandell, Suwehb, Jamgadir, Thirpof, and Manhomir. Our realms are perhaps only matched by the most clever of dragons and draklings, as I've not yet discovered a people more advanced than our own in all aspects of a society, except perhaps the wind kingdoms of the mountains. Our culture is vast and will vary greatly in detail, but in all nations, it is the nobles who lead. Although they hail from long family lines of high standing, knowing how to handle a spear and order men in war is what makes them nobles above all. Commoners take up the menial tasks that keep society running. Thanks largely to our religion emphasizing unity among Gren, peace is mostly had across the realms and violence rarely exceeds raids of greed or vengeance. Trade is common in our society, with goods produced in different regions transported and exchanged for those in others. Uniting all of the Gren is the belief that we are born of Yggorum, a deity that made us in his image to fight against the corruption in this world that is the bloodthirsty dragons. Those of us that show prowess with our innate nature magics are thought blessed and often become 'druids' under Yggorum's guidance. Due to these beliefs, dragonslayers are the most revered of all walks of life, followed by druids. Taking a dragon's life is the ultimate goal as Gren - an opinion I do not follow.

-Goblins: Life Through Their Eyes + Tempts Fate - By Ellipsis "Elli" Stephens and Danielle Stephens
A webcomic about a bunch of goblins who decide to form up their own rpg hero adventuring party. while another goblin has their own reluctant adventure as a b-plot. Arts seems fine, but then you notice stuff how the goblin main characters look like chewed gum people. It also kinda chucks the characters into their dangerous situations REALLY fast and fequently, relying on a lot of ass-pulling to get the main characters out of them. I've also heard someone from fellow Bad Webcomic Entry "Girl Genius" worked on this too. Lots of time wasting mook battles and skipped updates for advert shilling.
As if that weren't enough the other comic, "Tempt's Fate" is on the same site and is more or less just a donation drive where people paying keeps the titular goblin from getting killed by death traps.
- NIHILGUNZ - By Exzeedvelocity
Possibly the most tryhard edgy thing you will ever see in an ongoing webcomic. About an anthro cat named Malice(?) Wh9 helps a mouse dispose of bodies, it feelscomic equivalent of what is basically the video game "Cruelty Squad" in that is over-the-top mean and crazy, but lacks the involvement of bein a game and is less self-aware. Or maybe it is and its just kinda missing its own point? Im not sure? The style is very stylistic and angular and leads to some weird sequences and anatomy, and the writing in AND out of the comic is juvenile constant swearing.
-Realm of Kaerwyn- by Long Tom and then ZenForce
A fantasy comic that started as different webcomic, which became a roleplay, which became this. The world was once ruled mainly by dragonpeople and is now lived in by humans who were teleported in from another universe, though there are still dragon people around. The world is also overridden by werewolves that spread like a zombie disease through scratching and biting, with only one city left. Honestly don't know too much else aside from the art looking amateurish and the fact that the character who was the protagonist of the original comic and the role play (a half-wolf girl adventurer) is not the real main character of this comic.
Oh god, is the first one THAT Goblins? I've heard it's extremely infamous and the author does not take criticism well As for the other two, NIHILGUNZ does sound genuinely awful. even if the art style is kinda neat. And the third one, I am just confused, but I don't see why I shouldn't give this a chance.

favorite top 5 of your ocs
Asking this of me who has no less than 10 aus of the same 3 characters is going to kill me... I can't put the same purple eyepatch bastard here five times or the invisible powers that be will come after me. Hard limit of two of the same guy (AND ONLY ONE GUY ALLOWED TO DOUBLE UP) only!! Here we go I finally put some names to the characters I mention in my tags:
(MORE UNDER CUT)
NERO listen years ago I did a silly challenge to throw together a bunch of design notes you like into a single guy and out came bigtits mchimbo over here. I don't know what more to explain besides I made him for myself in a very self indulgent way. Flames and passions god who's just here for a good time and make sure everyone else does too. Specifically I really like his tiny gay little earrings. And his velvety fuzzy body. And his wings good for hiding/setting around his waist like a skirt that hang right over his ass. I like a lot of him. He's like a stressball to me. Sorry ok next guy
NADINE DUVAL otherwise known as why I had to put a au caveat answering this. Yes I love Zinadia, my main girl's, FFXIV iteration—the evil 200 year old viera and her posession/longing subplot—but I am... really attached to FE3H still and still REALLY jive with Nadine's place in the world, and the reinterpretation of the main "noble dad died, get exiled, come back for revenge about it years later" she gets. She's more heroic here!
The devastation of that loss and event gets cranked down since FE3H's plot takes prescendence and character narrative importance—so... It's fun exploring how she turns out in a time where she gets socialized properly, has friends, people to fall back on, to fight for and who look for her not as a symbol to prop up but a friend who had connections and good dreams for the world...
She touches my heart in a really specific way. Fire Emblem Three Houses as a world sucks YES i am sure and know, but it has chances for her to turn things around that most other verses she doesn't get. I love you handsome noble woman
WYRM my big bastard. My "true dragon" among a sea of dragonpeople/elkiir.... Fafnir, Moby Dick, Frankenstein, the devil hiding in the truth, warnings-ignored manifest, will to survive at any cost incarnate. Wyrm is a suit of armour mangled and bloodied and brought to life, fueled by eating magic-drenched flesh, eventually burning up its previous owner inside it too—their bones fused to its organic-metal like a living casket. As that person wanted, they will not die without their revenge. Wyrm will take as long as there is something to take.
The biological anomaly of its "life"—not continuation of its previous one, but still not truly "alive" now either—is an insult itself. You can't pierce him with a lance—a stab doesn't kill metal. You can't take them apart either—they're not made with vital organs and blood, as much as the flames of burning it sustains movement and thought. Weapons of those who fail to kill her are embedded in their body, and where this endlessly-growing beast has outgrown its once human-sized form—leg growth shooting through boots and fresh skin and muscle filling in—those remaining claws and hands and limbs still work, endlessly trying to grow, to "live" as commanded.
Wyrm is far and away one of my favourite creatures. Fucked up dragon eating people alive, and its hunters slowly start to recognize what corpse exactly has sustained it.
CAIA SINNORHA it is known I adore this knight woman. It stings to try and be the best of anyone. And to come so very close to your greatest dreams, only to be thrown back down to the start because the person you love most—who you wonder if you still love—has done the worst thing possible. The eldest daughter, the eldest child, the symbol of the military-nobility's promise to continue serving and fighting, as symbols of a new era.
A shining hero who gets told by those who inspired her that they don't believe in that idea anymore, and she ought to give up rather than keep continuing on that hope she'll make it. Her bird-of-prey motifs in her gold eyes, featherlike wrist decor and her tail's scales, her double-kneed legs... I'm so so fond of her design, the way she carries herself in it... Strange half-dragon people and the minute ways they're different and work around it, like her leg braces and how being neither fully once species or the other impacts her idea of lineage and legacy. She is sooo compressed by the system and trapped in it and needs it to work because she thrived under it once and cannot bear the idea it will never be good as that again. Ms Sinnorha my proper knight crumpling under the weight and expectation of what it means to be what you imagine you need to be... wah
ZINADIA AEDELRIC it is known I am helplessly dedicated to Zinadia. She's the beating heart of this machine and all my ocs. Greasy kicked dog demeanor, kicking and clawing your way back no matter what. She always gets up, no matter how it hurts. Twenty long years it takes for her to have the battle against her traitor king of a brother—twenty years of this hound knight chasing down her dragon. Uuruurgh. Exiled and scapegoated, and taking up that mantle anyway—if she's accused of being a Kingslayer, then her noble brother will see what one really looks like. I'm fighting to not say in every sentence "She is so cool to me."
Electric wolf knight with ambiguous dragonblood in her, hunting down monstrous dragonhounds and biding her time until she gets her hands on her real prize, the man who stole away her life in seat of luxury, safety, love... Everything she's done will be worth it in the end, if her love is awaiting her still, and all it takes is to prove that she deserves to live, and always has, all this time, to the man who condemned her to death.
Zinadia and the story in Thunder—which IS Zinadia—means the world to me. Aaa. Wolfy scarred woman...
#OCs who didn't make cut: Kirkegrim (FFXIV Zinadia) / Hunter (Zinadia's brother/Caia's friend) / Sirah'li|Chocoboman(FFXIV)#Who i do like a LOT STILL!!!! HOWEVER I only could pick 5. unlike BB top 5 these are immovable. My favourites forever#well maybe Nero and Sirah'li switch around. catboy privilege. my silly cat. I really like Nero rn though.#i need an oc tag#Armour clanking#my asks#jinkisaragi

It's ranked kinda high in some niche categories like 'animalpeople' and 'dragonpeople' and 'multiplepov'.
Humble brag, but I think that means it's a pretty good story.
Come give it a shot! Update schedule for this week is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
This is from a story I have no plan for an ending and just wanted to write some scenes for. Things got out of hand. FML. I still have no ending for it but I don't know what to do with it now x_x

CHILDREN OF GAIA: TAMING NEW FRIENDS. Details of my latest work in progress for this illustration from the sci-fi fantasy franchise, Children of Gaia from Oneshi Press. - This image depicts a scene where Ghoowahlly (the blue guy) and his travelling companions including Saquill the Griphon, Zartain the elven gryphon rider, Deetry (the goblin-like character in the foreground) and the rest of the Dragon-born type characters (including the wounded one in the griphons saddle) are all circled around a strange new friend. Zontack, the mostly elven Frankenstein's monster-like creature is more beast than person when they first meet him. Here the group discusses whether or not its sensible to allow their new friend to join the party as they cross through the treacherous rubble plains that used to be The Great Nation Aryliness - #fantasy #fantasyart #scifi #dnd #ChildrenOfGaia #ocs #dragonpeople #dragonborn #wyrmkin #frankenstein #gryphon #elves #blackelves #goblins ruins #rubble #digitalart #digitalillustration #twitchcreative #inclusion (at Oneshi Press Headquarters) https://www.instagram.com/p/B5qV0nhg6Q7/?igshid=1r6qsscovn718

Review: The Other Wind [Earthsea cycle #6]
Title: The Other Wind Author: Ursula K. Le Guin Genre: Fantasy Publication date: 2001 Summary: The sorcerer Alder has the power of mending, but it may have become the power of destruction: every night he dreams of the wall between the land of the living and the land of the dead, and the wall is being dismantled. If the wall is breached, the dead will invade Earthsea. Ged, once Archmage of Earthsea, sends Alder to King Lebannen. Now Alder and the king must join with a burned woman, a wizard of forbidden lore, and a being who is woman and dragon both, in an impossible quest to save Earthsea. I don't know why but all book or series endings leave me with a bitter taste in my mouth. Maybe I hate endings, or maybe I don't like how the author decided to end their story — either way, I am never happy to read the last page. The Other Wind, the sixth book of the Earthsea cycle by Ursula K. Le Guin, and so far the last one confirmed, was not what I expected as a conclusion of the story. It started promising with a bit of mystery and new, diverse characters (something that has been missing for me in the previous books) and then when they all got together their personalities more or less disappeared and it was hard to tell them apart. I don't say that juggling a big cast of characters is
easy, oh no, but I've read many books where it is done marvelously. And here, well, it was OK. The story goes like this. We start with a new character, Alder, who has powers but not distinctive enough to go to study on Roak. He has a very specific skill though — to mend broken things. After losing his wife and unborn child and grieving over them he begins having a weird dream where his wife is calling him from 'the other side' of life, begging for freedom. The dreams become more frequent and more scary and he seeks help until he ends up at Ged's door (being send there by the mages of Roak). After we spent some time watching Ged and the young man tend to the house chores, eat and sleep (unnecessary long and quite boring) Ged then sends him to Havnor, where King Lebannen rules, and where Tenar and Tehanu have gone prior, to assist the king. There are several plotlines happening here, which is surprising considering that in the previous books the plot was all straight-forward and linear. Here we have Alder's problem on one hand, the dragons coming back East to reclaim what was owed on the other and then we have the king of the Kargs, a warlike people
from the East who despise sorcery, who has sent his daughter to marry Lebannen as the price for peace between them. All in all, we have all the ingredients for an explosive adventure. Unfortunately, Le Guin stays true to her style and all we get is talking, talking, sailing, more talking and occasional dragon sighing (but the dragons mainly talk and look threatening). I won't go on much about the prose and writing style, I have already said how much I adore them, but they alone can't carry the story. Tehanu, who was supposed to be 'The woman from Gont', a dragon and what not played such a tiny role that it was utterly disappointing. And there was absolutely no magic involved this time, not even to make the boats go faster, which was also disappointing. My biggest disappointment, however, was the ending. Or to be precise, the events that lead to the ending. I won't spoil it for you, of course, I will just say that the ending itself was good and logical. And it all built to it so it wasn't at all surprising. But all the events that led to it, and they were many for sure, were either pointless or just delaying the action endlessly. For such a small book I feel like it was never going to end, and not in a good way. And I know this is common practice with writers but at the end I half-expected to know what happens with most main characters. Here we got hits and bits for half of them which just intensified the bitter taste as I closed the book. Anyway, I am happy I read through the series - I found the writing engaging, the overall story was interesting and it got me to care for some of the characters so that's great. I'll give it 3/5 rating since it really should have been better for the conclusion of the whole cycle. What about you? What rating would you give? What are your thoughts and takes on The Other Wind? in a fantasy world i have invasive monster drakemutt things and bipedal dragonpeople who are deer or birds respectively and to use magic you need to bleed and therefore dragons bleeding fire is igniting their own blood like oil and drinking/eating it turns you into a walking crucible/forge in a cauldron-shell of metal . I have never enjoyed that i had to pretend horses are real and fine in there
#i think chickens could exist. i think boars and dogs do. why the fuck do i need horses. why cant it be the freak drakes. so now it is#i need an oc tag#armour clanking
