Productivity Hour

Hey ya'll! I'm in crunch time for a few different deadlines so tonight (Wednesday, December 21), tomorrow, and Friday I'll be doing 2 productivity hours.

They will take place from 6:30-7:30 EST and 8:00-9:00 EST

jaskier x geralt, geralt sees jaskier for the first time since he pushed him away at the dragon hunt.

oooh, Dragon, i love you for this.

It’s always surprising, doesn’t matter how many times it’s happened before. Anytime Geralt reaches for him, it’s still a shock, still fills him with disbelief and wonder.

Yen was gone, the dragons behind them, Jaskier missed the whole ordeal, but even peppering and poking Geralt all the way down the mountain for details hadn’t put the man in a better mood. 

(And oh, Jaskier prided himself on reading the man’s moods - the different shades to his slight frowns that ranged from amused to murderous, the rise and fall of his shoulders, the line of tension or lack thereof in his shoulders, all spelling stories of acceptance or grief or humour or denial. He’s been creating a catalogue, a song in his head to place each one, but it’s one he’ll never sing out loud, not for any gold or crowd).

But it’s back at the inn, a bath drawn but untouched between them, Jaskier’s fingers itching but unable to touch because that crease is still there on Geralt’s face despite the fact he won the day, and he doesn’t know how to make it better. 

But then - 

Then Geralt sidesteps the bath basin, fast and sudden, wraps Jaskier up in his arms and lips fall bruising on his. Jaskier’s oh of surprise isn’t put on, even as his body leans right into Geralt’s, his arms clutch those massive biceps. Sweaty and dirty from battle and hiking and hungry for a meal and a proper night’s sleep, he forgets all of it when Geralt lifts him like a feather and puts him against the wall, his own legs snapping easy around Geralt’s lean hips.

It’s still surprising. Geralt could have anyone; he chooses Jaskier. Only at times, as unpredictable as flame, always burning up inside him, but when he does it’s like Jaskier is the only one in the entire world who exists, like this right here is all that exists. He’d write songs about the pleasure but when Geralt is inside of him he’s speechless every time.

They take their fill, twice in fact, before more words need to be shared between them. 

And then finally, he coaxes Geralt into the bath. His fingers tug at Geralt’s hair, wet with washing and suds, pull enough to get the man to drop his head back, looking up at him upside down. And Jaskier smiles, the catalogue of faces flipped over, Geralt’s griefs and frustrations rinsed off with the water.

HIHI - I was re-reading Control and just noticed your AO3 tag: Patrick is the most Canadian Dom and I love that so much. Do you mind tell me more about what makes Patrick the most Canadian Dom? Thanks!

Ha! That tag belongs to Leupagus who came up with it while beta-reading for me and we were talking about how Patrick would definitely be the nicest and politest dom in existence. And Canadians are so famously polite and unwilling to give offense that they couldn’t even trash-talk Warriors fans during the NBA playoffs because it would be TOO RUDE and unmannerly. I hope I’m not stereotyping Canadians in an offensive manner here, but it seemed pretty apt!

“Iris! Love the ice!”

She starts, glancing at her finger in confusion for a half second then crosses her arms in a glare. “Not funny, Cold!”

He’s nodding down at her boots which are conveniently iced to the pavement, cold reaching halfway up her legs thanks to him and that gun of his, strapped to his hip. She scowls at it as he approaches.

“It’s a little funny.”

“I was chasing a story!”

“You were chasing danger,” he moves into her space and tucks her hair behind her ear, voice all warm and honey, a total contrast to the frost making her shiver.

“I’m getting cold, Cold.”

“Brrr, you are mad.”

She only calls him Cold when he’s working or when she’s displeased. Right now it’s both an she huffs at him. “Barry’s gonna have your head for icing me.”

“You’re in jeans, I made sure it wouldn’t hit your skin.”

“Uh huh, and am I gonna be out of here before I get frostbite, Lenny?”

He hesitates for the first time and glances more carefully at the ice encasing her legs. She takes the opportunity to continue her lecture,

“And you know, you don’t get to decide if I want to trail after Mardon and Bivolo in my spare time or not.”

He quirks an eyebrow at her, even as he takes out his phone and starts typing into it. 

“You’re right, I don’t. But you were tailing after me too, Iris, and Captain Cold gets to decide if he wants reporters following him.”

“You sure doubled-back fast enough,” she finally gives him an opening to abate her anger. Her arms are still crossed but it’s mostly because she’s chilly now.

“Mhmm,” he agrees and leans forward to kiss her cheek. “Gotta go, love. Barry will be here in a minute to get you out.”

“Go - hey, Lenny - you!” 

He’s already ducking into the nearest alleyway and she throws her hands in the air in exasperation.

This is what she gets for falling in love with not just a superhero, but a supervillain also.
