iirc you said you wouldn't really touch totk's story for your au but like... just as a thought exercise... what would sheik and/or ganon look like as dragons? 🫣
i've humored the idea of draconification for my au and im kinda in between abt it I can't really 100% confirm if I'll add it to my au but I have drawn draconified Sheik a while back so I'll share that :]

Link loses his arm and just... doesn't have an arm anymore AU. Thoughts??
Thinking about the end of the game when Rauru's spirit moves on and just takes his arm with him and NOW Link can't hold a sword, off balanced, having to re-learn how to do so many things. Starting with eating and getting dressed but then moving toward gardening, riding and grooming his horse, *climbing.* Luckily his fish boyfriend will carry him around but
Anyway. Been rattling that around in my head lately but I wanted to see what your big noggin would do with it!!!!
HI FRIEN!!! :D thank you for the wonderful ask lemme take a crack at this...
I've always thought it was a shame there wasn't any lasting consequences to the shit the characters go through in TOTK. I'm thinking about Zelda and the supposedly irreversible draconification but indeed also Link and his fucked up arm being brought back to normal like nothing happened. If it was a result of time reversal magic then surely they should have lost their memory of the game's events, which is an interesting concept but not the topic. Besides Link has gone through the amnesia thing already, so. Let's focus on the alternative which is: Link's fucked up arm indeed remains fucked up and he loses it altogether.
I think Link would take losing his arm horribly. He is an independant person at heart and suddenly losing so much autonomy would be like getting slapped in the face by a Hinox. Losing his ability to fight like before would be especially trying for him, I think. Not only is he independant, he's a protector. What good is he if he can't defend people? If him losing the use of his arm happens gradually as opposed to all at once, I feel like he wouldn't tell anyone until the last possible minute where he physically cannot move or feel his arm at all.
Purah would make a prosthetic for him, but that wouldn't magically make things go back to how they were. Even though Sheikah tech is cool as fuck and way more advanced than what we have in the real world, I don't think it could perfectly replicate a limb. Link would need some time to get used to it and that would be pretty frustrating for him.
As for the prosthetic itself, I imagine it would function in a similar way to the Divine Beasts. Now hear me out— I didn't see any steering wheels inside those things, so I think it's safe to assume the Champions piloted them via some sort of mind/spirit connection. So in Link's case, he'd have to force his own body to make this connection to this lifeless, inert metal thing, and that would be difficult for anyone – way more difficult than, say, being magically connected to the arm of a dead guy, cause at least that had been alive at some point.
Even when he does manage to make the connection, it still wouldn't be all that simple for him because he now has to learn to control it. Which would probably end up in embarassing or even potentially dangerous situations if the arm only obeys him half the time. (Imagine trying to keep a secret if your main mode of communication, sign language, has been hijacked by a limb that's intent on accomplishing your every thought and impulses! or, trying to sign something important when your prosthetic has decided to go limp and dead. And that's not even touching on how dangerous fighting or even cutting vegetables could become.)
By the time Link gets even halfway used to the prosthetic he's horribly out of practice in archery, climbing, horseriding, even cooking, and basically everything he enjoys doing, and that supremely pisses him off. OH and also. He's just gotten used to compensating for the unfamilar balance of having just the one arm and now he has a heavy metal thing strapped to him and he has to compensate all the opposite ways and it's a mess for him. Not to mention a lot of his horses aren't fond of this weird spooky new thing when he tries to pet them or offer them a snack, which is just the icing on the cake (not Epona though, she's a trooper and she loves carrots too much).
Now I know I've yapped a lot but this is where his support system comes in clutch (that said I'm not gonna describe every sage's reaction cause it pretty much boils down to worried but supportive and helping in their own way). Even though Link is a stubborn little shit who wants to do everything himself and keeps forgetting he's able to rely on his friends, Zelda does her best to help him day to day, even though she's dealing with her own trauma (and in my mind, the aftermath of being a dragon for fuck knows how long).
When they are together, Sidon makes a point to show Link how amazing he still is and always will be in his eyes – not because of things he can do but because he's so determined and never gives up. Neither Yona or Sidon are as skilled at healing magic as Mipha was, but they both try to soothe Link's phantom pain as much as they can, and Sidon has been learning a lot about his new powers while doing this, which is incidentally a convenient excuse – if you want to trick Link into letting you help him, you have to make him think he's the one helping you ;)
Okay that's all I've got!! hope this was a nice read despite how long this was :)

Been pretty busy this week so sorry for the late post!
Have some rough wips of a Zonai side-character I'm making for the Zelda AU - to give a rough summary, he is one of the Zonai that underwent draconification, a wielder of a spirit secret stone, but through mysterious means, he woke up one day as his regular Zonai self, just not completely. Seems that whatever helped him reverse the draconification only did so partially, causing him to have draconic traits, and his abilities became unstable and unsafe. So now he's a wandering merchant who goes all over the world in hopes to find a secret stone to see if it will help him stabilize himself!

wooahh am curious about the “Dragonborn au” idea :O :O
itsd be coolio!! what if the drakoized people/newspawns came to be after the ender dragon was zapped outta existence??? thads all i got sorrys ;~;
Ooooo that is a pretty good one!! Like with Soren getting rid of the ender dragon, it causes the command block to mess with the worlds code or something, and suddenly, new people coming in are half dragon? I really like that :D
The only stuff I had come up with so far was some hierarchy stuff, some ideas on the differences of horn size and wing spans, and then something about Romeo deciding to change the world completely after bedrocking the old one and that would be the cause of draconification.

But Ganon already loses the imprisoning war. Surely there's no need for an AU this time.
He doesn't "lose" it (at least in ancient Hyrule times) so much as he's put on time-out by Rauru until Link and Zelda reawaken him at the start of TotK. Sure he's out of commission for a while, but never truly gone (kinda like Zelda sealing Ganon away for one hundred years; sure he's not an active threat, but he isn't fully defeated until the end of BotW)
Just like AoC is a "happy ending" AU where the Great Calamity ends immediately with Ganon defeated and the Champions live, I can see AoI being an AU where the Demon King is fully defeated in the ancient past and Rauru, Sonia and Mineru live, and Zelda never has to undergo draconification. Basically, in AoI's continuity, TotK never happens (and possibly BotW, since Mummydorf's leaky fumes are what cause the Calamity, so if Ganondorf's never sealed by Rauru, the Calamity doesn't exist, but that's a whole other can of worms), just like in AoC's continuity, BotW never happens
I wouldn't know the specifics of how that would happen yet, but if I were to guess using AoC as a blueprint, there's gonna be more time travel involved where eventually, Link and the TotK Sages (and more, since this is a Hyrule Warriors game) join Zelda in the distant past and they tag-team to defeat the Demon King

TOTK AU idea!! spoilers for the ending of the game!!!
so you know how Zelda got un-dragon-ed by Sonia and Rauru at the end. what if it didn't work right? like, it only *mostly* reverses the draconification, so zelda has horns and a tail and spikes and scales, all that fun shit. But where did all that extra energy go?
It went to the other three dragons, who are now hanging around in hylian-adjacent forms in Hyrule (or the Depths ;)) and having fun/making trouble. I'm going to posit that they didn't start out as mortals like Zelda, so they have more memories of being dragons, unlike Zelda who was 'sleeping'. Also I'm bringing Ganondorf back, but getting exploded has knocked a lot of memories out of his head.
While the defeat of the Demon King has slowed the Blood Moon phenomena and greatly reduced the number of monsters on the surface, it has correlated with a surge in monsters and stalfos in the Depths, making it incredibly difficult to traverse, even by the Yiga. the Gloom has also disappeared from the surface, and only pockets of it remain within the Depths.
Because both Zelda and Link are trying to recuperate and manage the kingdom (and her new body,) they don't find out about this development until a few months after the defeat of the Demon King.
I've been alternating between he/they/she pronouns for all the dragons btw, i don't think they'd particularly care. (all three of the dragons are also wearing their respective armor set for convenience)
More on the dragons below the cut
FAROSH:
They are the tallest of the trio, (3.5m) and also bear the most resemblance to a Gerudo voe.
I have no way to describe his hair other than that it's Gotenks hair. Their hair conveniently sticks up like their horn.
Prefers one-handed weapons and shields.
He wakes up on the shores of Rassla Lake, heads to Tuft Mountain to get the lay of the land, and runs into Bolson.
Farosh: my name is Farosh.
Bolson: like the dragon?
Farosh: ??? of course???
I don't think anyone would immediately clock her as being The Thunder Dragon, just some weird Gerudo who chases off all the pirates.
They don't go to Gerudo Town because she gets mistaken for a voe by a stable attendant, and he misunderstands it as 'dragons aren't allowed'
NAYDRA:
They have the smallest stature, and besides the dragon features he also has a variety of malice scars (a la botw) and feathers (for flavor).
She also has the longest hair, like a waterfall, and white/light blue in color.
Prefers bows and wands/staves.
He initially patrols Mount Lanayru and slowly starts interacting with Kakariko, Hateno, and the Zora as a 'lone wolf monster exterminator'.
I think she would be the first one that Link & Zelda would learn about, and the least cooperative (they don't want to leave their territory.)
I think that their horns would look a bit different than the frostbite headdress, having three large separate spikes with smaller shards in between.
DINRAAL:
Poor Dinraal got their legs while they were in the Depths, and being unable to fly means that he's just kinda stuck down there-- not like she's complaining!
Dinraal is the most muscular of the dragons, and his skin has a rocky texture where it's not covered by scales. Their skin tone is also notably grayer than a normal Hylian.
His hair is very curly, in red/orange/yellow hues, and she keeps it tied back with a metal band.
Prefers two-handed weapons and hammers.
They are the one who finds the returned Ganondorf, who is stumbling through the Depths trying to avoid dying (he is bad at it, because he's lost most of his memories: Dinraal saves him.) She takes him under their metaphorical wing, and tries to teach him how to be the wielder of the triforce of power *without* becoming corrupted by Demise.
thank you for coming to my ted talk. if you want to write/draw anything from this, just tag me because i wanna see

Nintendo didn't actually say Age of Calamity was canon like they are with AoI. They certainly implied that AoC was the canon event, but they didn't explicitly say it was. I don't think there's a need for deviation this time since Ganon is supposed to lose while Zelda is in the past.
Honestly, Nintendo might as well have said it was canon the way it was marketed. There were a LOT of Zelda fans who went as far as to say it was false advertising. Or at least that they were disappointed and or surprised it was an AU.
Granted, I think Imprisonment COULD much more easily fit into canon if it tries. But like, there's still a few glaring issues I can see. Will Sonia be playable? How will the game handle her death? Is the game just going to end with Zelda's draconification? (Because if AoC couldn't bare to end with Link dying, I don't see them leaving it on an equally tragic note). Once again I think the HW games are very much allergic to anything too serious, and I do not trust Nintendo's word until I see the game for myself. Even them explicitly saying it's "canon" may not necessarily mean it's TOTK canon. They could be planning to put it on the timeline regardless

Can you tell us about the Horn incident?
the simple answer of the horn incident is: a Bad Decision that lost made sprung from misunderstandings and misinterpreting i'll give the tldr and not give all of the details in case kay (the other person working on this au w/ me) wants to write a fic abt it basically the horn incident is a moment that happens soon after lost returns from totk (reminder: he's the one that became a dragon this time around) the chain didnt realize how self sacrificing lost actually is until they learn abt the draconification. the difference between flora and lost is that flora became a dragon as a last resort. for lost, it was always the plan, because what's losing yourself if you don't know who you are? lost doesnt regret his decision, but he Does Not like the looks the chain gives him. genuine concern and worry is interpreted as pity, and he has mixed feelings about the physical changes that happened to him (thicker hair, fangs, face markings, n 3 horns) anyway so as a desperate measure to try and make things go back to how it was, he breaks off one of his horns this results in him losing a lot of blood AND magic almost killing him, hyrule's first time healing him (which was an Experience) and a loud wakeup call to the entire chain that He Needs Help (they all had their own smaller wakeup calls but this is the one that springs them into action) this is the lowest low of lost in this au so thankfully it can only go up from here

So how would some of ToTK concepts be incorporated into your au (Like the fckin dragons, stones, ultra hand, etc?)
Also does Kohga exist in the Lost Family au?
The whole Zonai magic technology thing does not exist in my au. As well as the Zonai they are more as a footnote like how they’re treated in BotW. The secret stones don’t exist sorta…the triforce does but they take a more physical form like the secret stones. Draconification…………..thinking abt it
Kohga does exist in my au as well as Sooga for all my Sooga enthusiasts out there, I don’t talk abt them much cause I’m not a big Yiga enjoyer like others </3 but they do take an important role to my au’s story

ToTK: A princess left behind
This is my entry for @zelinkcommunity Zelink week 2023 day 2 forbidden. The forbidden comes from this being a AU ending of Tears of the Kingdom in which Link kill Ganondorf before he turn into the Demon Dragon and swallow his secret stone. Spoliers for Tears of the Kingdom. Also, Link and Zelda's daughter Charlotte is named after her grandmother.
It has been months since both Charlotte's mother Princess Zelda and her father Link has disappeared and the Demon King has been defeated by the team work of Link and the new Sages. Right now, the four years old princess is on a sky island with her parents' close friends the Sages and Purah the Shiekah scientist. The Sages has last saw Link take a Secret Stone, a Zonai artifact that amplify the powers of the one whose wear it, from the Demon King dead body and strangely request that the Sages guide Charlotte in her duties as heir to the Kingdom of Hyrule and he is sorry for not saving Zelda from a fate. Weeks later, there begins sighting of a green dragon that sudden appear above Hyrule Castle before flying off to the clouds, where the mysterious Light Dragon was waiting for it, and there is no secrets that begin rumors of how the dragons are somehow connected to Princess Zelda and Link disappeared. Among the Sages is the spirit of Mineru, the Sage of Spirit and Charlotte's ancient aunt.
Mineru explains to Charlotte, "Long ago, when your mother end up in my time, in the begining era of Hyrule, I hold Princess Zelda about stories of a forbidden act called draconification. The story goes that 'to swallow a Secret Stone is to be become an immortal dragon... one blessed with eternal life. To become a immortal dragon is to lose oneself.' That is why it is forbidden. After my brother Rauru seal the Demon King at the cost of his life, the broken Master Sword appear in our time and your mother, Charlotte, decided..." and Mineru become sadly, "so that Link could get the sword in time for the final battle..."
Everyone realized what Mineru is hinting at with Purah saying in disbelief, "T-That's nonsense... Zelda would never turn herself into a dragon!" which the Zonai call out, "Maybe that why Link didn't tell any of you when he found out about Zelda's fate! You would have call him mad with grief, when Link was losing his will except to destroy the Demon King as Zelda wanted, just like my brother when his wife Sonia was murdered in cold blood by the Demon King for her Secret Stone! Beside, both he and Zelda suffered a crushing defeat by the Demon King's evil you called Calamity Ganon 100 years ago and it affected their minds!" Purah and the Sages understand that Mineru was right about their possible doubts as Charlotte ask, "What about daddy?" and the Zonia close her eyes and said to the little girl as she open them, "I am... I am sorry, little one... I told you about your mother's fate, because I tragically have a theory about what happen to Link, as he has saw Zelda's memories of me telling her about draconification and her transformation. I see in his face that Link was desperate to defeat the Demon King for something only than protecting Hyrule..."
Sidon made a horrible conclusion and ask, "Please... Don't tell us... Did you believe Link truely swallow the Secret Stone of..." Just then, two roars full the skies and everyone look up to see the Light Dragon and the Green Dragon, both has mane of blonde fur, which are proof of their identities. Riju speak out, "That Light Dragon... she must be Zelda. That mean that other dragon is truly..." and Charlotte speak this terrible realization as well, "Daddy..."
The two dragon sit down to the platform before the gathered group and lower their heads so that their Hylian daughter would touch their fur, just like she would feel their hands. As she does, a glowing light came from Charlotte's hands and spiritual avatars of Link and Zelda appear. Zelda's avatar happily, "Charlotte... oh, my Charlotte..." before she notice Link and realized, "Link... you are here.... but, did you..." and Link reply, "Yes, my love. I defeat the Demon King, with the Master Sword you keep safe for me, and swallow his Secret Stone to be with you."
A few weeks back, Link hold the Secret Stone he took from the beheaded body of the Demon King, seeing that it does amplify the recall ability as he hope, so he is left with his other option to be with Zelda, even if it means forshaking what make Link himself and leaving his daughter and his friends. Link has saw that he has become like Rhoam and Rauru when he learn Zelda fate 10,000 years ago of become a father and king of Hyrule whose lost his wife.
Just like the memoires of Zelda, Link put the Secret Stone and swallow it, which he feel everything fading away as a glow comes from his body before his blue eyes become the eyes of dragon and his Hylian body become a long green dragon with a mindset of finding his mate, the Light Dragon, roaring as it fly from above Hyrule Castle and into the skies of clouds where she waited him.
Link said to his friends with one last look, "Please... protect Charlotte... make her happy... ensure that the Hyrule she will lead will never face another evil like Ganon again." and both Zelda and him said to their daughter as their avatars fade away, "We love you, Charlotte... with all of our hearts." Soon, the two dragons fly out to explore and protect this land, together in eternal union. Mineru sigh and said, "It's a bettersweet ending. My brother and the wife he loved... their Secret Stones has made two lover forshake their mortal lives to be immortal dragons that wouldn't remember their past lives."
In a attempt to cheer Charlotte up, the Sages speak, trying to do so together, "Those of us... gathered here... swear on our lives... to support Princess Charlotte and...." They stop for a brief moment which cause Charlotte to giggle before the Sages try what Link told them before his transformation again, "to support Princess Charlotte Zelda Hannah Hyrule and safeguard the land of Hyrule."
After Mineru's spirit fade away, and Charlotte see that the Secret Stone that is now hers has become the mix of white and yellow to symbol her light and time powers, which her powers and her ancestors has.

SPOILERS FOR TEARS OF THE KINGDOM
my brain wouldn't allow me to sleep last night so I bring to you: QSMP TotK au
This is gonna be mainly Jaiden focused bc I don't really watch anyone else's pov lmao. Things mainly play out the same as they have already except with a few changes like the eggs coming from the feds experiments with secret stones, most of the mobs are replaced with your general monsters in TotK, and things are more modern than they were in TotK but the Islanders don't have access to a lot of the tech. The races of a few of the islanders are changed as well, for example Foolish a Zora, while Jaiden is a Rito/Hylian hybrid of sorts created by the federation bc why not. Story wise things are about the same up until Jaiden is asked to work for the federation, she does work with them for the sake of protecting the eggs but she has different tasks, like examining Zonai ruins and researching the secret stones. Eventually Cucurucho gives her a secret stone, but she still has no idea how it works or what even to do with it. She continues to explore more and more ruins, learning how the stones allow the user to channel their powers and stuff, but she has no powers to amplify. (I'll write this off as a side effect from growing up in the federation, totally not cuz I have no idea what power to assign her with lmao). She eventually learns about draconification, and initially is like "why would anyone do this" but her position on it changes pretty quickly after the remainder of the eggs are gathered into one spot for an event along with the islanders, only to be attacked by multiple codes that quickly overwhelm even the strongest fighters in the group. Jaiden panics, and looks to cucurucho for help, but it only laughs and gives her a book that says "protect the eggs". She realizes what she has to do, swallows the stone, and undergoes draconification. She kills the codes, but is now stuck like this. Plot twist, the federation engineered her specifically for this purpose as they wanted to study the dragons further than just experimenting on the eggs. Because she was made for this, she has more consciousness than your average dragon and is much more agreeable to work with the federation, she's not totally there but enough of her is to know she doesn't want to hurt anyone.
I guess this would count as a fanfic idea? I'm not confident enough in myself to write tho haha. For all I know this could be incomprehensible rambling, but this idea has been bouncing around my head like the windows screensaver and I needed to put it down somewhere

What do you say to a giving a little more lore on the priestesses AU?
I WOULD LOVE TO
first of all, some things need to be adjusted for totk, and that means I have to share a different theory that I have that's kind of independent from the priestesses au.
The idea that the Zonai weren't the only race that disappeared. I think that probably at the same time as the Zonai there were a race that lived almost exclusively in the depths and were able to manipulate the darkness. (see Thypho ruins in botw) they could be what form the ancient hero took, (bc that magical fursuit does not look like any zonai we know, the tail, the ears, the hair, etc...)
That way there could still be a connection to the Twili, (also since Midna's and Zant's helmets are down there). It really bothered me that the Zonai suddenly came from the sky and looked like goat people and what little we knew about them was shattered. But if there were a race that cooperated with the Zonai in the depths, a mirrored world of the surface, blanketed in pitch darkness, that may have disappeared alongside them, and after thousands of years had been forgotten entirely, that makes sense to me.
The priestesses au is largely centered around creating a backstory for the three elemental dragons in botw, and so totk... made me have to make more changes for it to make sense. Originally the AU was supposed to happen a hundred years after the first calamity, like how botw happens a century after the second and final calamity. The plot was going to be that just like in the future, even with all the tech and the might of the champions and the princess and the hero, the calamity still wasn't quite sealed. It still had influence and a wanting to take the triforce from its chosen guardians.
But in totk the whole idea of the dragons was kind of explained (though I'm not sure if the dragons appeared in any past cutscenes or if Zelda was kind of 'the first'. I have a feeling due to the abundance of massive skeletal remains, the dragons aren't as immortal as they seem and there were more of them than just the four that we know about)
So, that just means that I now have a method of how the priestesses became the dragons. Perhaps after Ganondorf was sealed, more secret stones were discovered and given to those of extraordinary power, or perhaps they were just a last resort to keep the sacred springs and the goddesses that they represented safe. There was a reason calamity ganon tried to take over Naydra (Zelda) but wasn't able to fully control her. Her divinity was too much to turn her into a threat against Link. I have a feeling he would've tried to go after the other dragons but after the first one, knew it was a losing battle.
Or, they could be the reason draconification was banned in the first place and they turned before Hyrule was even a kingdom. Perhaps there used to be nine secret stones (Rauru/Zelda's- Light/Time, Sonia/Ganondorfs- Time/Gloom, Sages- Lightning, Fire, Wind, and Water, plus three more for the dragon trio) and the Zonai, who wanted to keep the secret stones within reach, banned the practice. After all, dragons don't really do much other than vibe and a secret stone is much more useful to have available.
Now, enough of that, it's kinda boring, let's get to the good shit, I want to talk about Ravio being the equilibrium between darkness and light, out of the rest of his siblings, he's the one who takes on the most 'twili' traits, he has the greatest grasp over darkness, which he uses to conceal his face, and his hair glows the brightest. And he's the one chosen to wield the sword that seals the darkness. I think it's important to note how the character of Link as the hero is always kind of a sponge of the magic and people around him, so Ravio is no different. He's the balance of the darkness and the light, and the magic prowess and the skill with a sword that it's important for the hero to have.
Every other character has a more clear delineation of skills, they have more extreme strengths and weaknesses but Ravio is made to be a little more adaptable, he is the duality that is needed to be the hero. He knows when to run and hide in the shadows, and he knows when to fight. He just has to learn that his nature of being a jack of all trades is a good thing rather than being disappointed that he can't seem to get good at one specific thing like all the people around him.
thanks for letting me go on a tangent, however, I am still open to more instigation lmao, my typing fingers aren't tired yet
