DR21 Halloween Headcanons
Happy Halloween everyone!! Thought some of you might like to know what the families get up to on Hallow’s Eve, soooooo... headcanon list!
- It’s a busy night full of trick or treating and parties for the kids! Each and everyone of them is up to something. The eldest kids, being Sakura, Leon and Hope, attend a Halloween party at another student’s house. Seiko, Junichi, and Kameyo have all agreed to go trick-or-treating with the middle children as their supervisors. Since Natsumi and Phoenix have never had the chance to celebrate Halloween, Koichi offers to take them out for a trick-or-treating session. His parents have already asked him to watch Seiko and the other kids anyway!
- The eldest kids have a variation of costumes. Playing into her and her mother’s love of athletes and swimming, Sakura chooses to dress as the American Olympian, Simone Manuel. Her costume is cute, fun, and comfortable for her. She can’t help but feel proud wearing it. As for Hope, she takes an excessive amount of time to turn herself into a zombie prom queen. It’s extravagant and over the top, which is funny considering Leon offered to match with her. He’s happy in the costume because he’s making his friend happy, although he did refuse to have her make the costume (”You’re crazy over stressed right now already, Hope! Don’t worry about it, I’ll make it the best you’ve ever seen!”)
- For the middle children costumes, they’re all varying. Considering his love for fish, Phoenix decides to turn himself into a merman. He’s gotten his make-up all done and a shining tail all made for himself, and fortunately he can walk in it. The only issue with it, really, is that he can’t see so well with his glasses off. He’s never really liked contacts. Koichi takes a different turn, choosing to be his favourite character from his favourite video game, Chi No Kishi 3: Death Rising. Considering the game itself is more casual and apocalyptically grungey, his costume’s a lot easier. The craziest thing he gets to do is apply a fake scar to his face. As for Natsumi, she happily turns herself into a marionette. She thinks there’s just something fun about being a cutesy doll that is so different to her natural personality. Her look is completed with stitched lip make-up, and a multi-layered ruffled skirt.
- The little ones are chock full of fun costumes, too! Junichi’s is perhaps the silliest among all of the kids, as he chooses to go as a CEO. Many adults don’t get it, including his honorary aunts and uncles... much to his disappointment. He wears a suit and carries around a little briefcase. In case you’re wondering, yes, his briefcase is where he keeps his candy. Kameyo dresses as a friendly spirit girl, having her mom paint her face with whites and blues to give the appearance of ghostliness. She’s got the cutest white dress on, too! Finally there’s Seiko, who decided to go as Queen of The Underworld. Which means she’s Persephone, given her interest in mythology. It’s just easier to say Queen of the Underworld. Hope made her costume for her, decking her out with a real flower crown and a ancient greece-inspired gown decked out in various shades of purple, blue, and green.
- Admittedly, most of the parents are spending the night at home. Makoto and Kyoko have dressed up as the princess and the frog to hand out candy to kids on their street. They’re pretty generous with their candy; they’re well-known for giving out full-size chocolate bars. Kyoko was once rich and Makoto is incredibly friendly, so it’s only natural that they end up this way.
- Aoi’s a bit lazier with her handing out candy costume. She slaps on her swimming outfit and her Olympic gold medal, and says she’s an Olympian... which she is. In addition to handing out candy, she also is the driver taking the older kids to their party.
- Byakuya chooses to go to a dinner party that night. He’s not one for handing out candy to kids. He’s never really even taken his own son out to participate more than a few times. So he’s on business that night.
- Kanon and Yasuhiro, they choose to hand out candy with only a bit of make-up on. Kanon’s a 1950s girl, while Yasuhiro puts on his old Future Foundation uniform and hands out candy as himself. They’re known for giving out a good variety of candy, as Kanon wants to make sure all of the kids can have something good to eat.
- Fuyuhiko, Peko, Sonia, and Gundham spend their Halloween on Jabberwock. They can’t be with their kids at the time of year, so they wait patiently for the pictures being sent their way of their kids in their costumes. They proudly show them off to the other islanders, and Mahiru even offers to develop some of them to hang in their homes. A kid’s first Halloween is massively important, after all!
- Toko spends a quiet night with her housemate, watching her hand out the candy for the most part. She doesn’t quite like kids, so Komaru does most of the work. Toko just works on keeping their dog, Yumi, at bay. That’s what they get for having a Shiba Inu, she supposes.
- The oldest kids, they have lots of fun at the party. After taking a whack load of pictures with each other and their classmates, they spend their night doing karaoke and dancing with one another. It’s not until later in the night, when some of the other kids have had a little too much to drink, that they dive into a quieter night of being friends with crying drunk girls who really need them. They make sure to cheer them up and make sure they get home safe, before getting Aoi to pick them up.
- The middle children spend their night trick-or-treating and taking the other kids around. Luckily, they don’t get shunned away too much for being older. Most of the adults just remark on how nice it is that they’re looking after the little ones. They get pillowcases stuffed full of candy that they can munch on for days to come, and a night full of amazing memories. Koichi’s stunned when his friends give him a big hug and thank them for taking them out.
- The little kids have a good night too! They get cooed at by candy-givers and other trick-or-treaters alike. People even begin to smile at Junichi’s little CEO costume, and he gets encouraged to follow his dreams. They also get bags full of candy that the middle children check to make sure that they’re all safe. As soon as they’ve been checked, they spend their night munching on candy treats and laughing together.
- Sakura’s favourite Halloween treat to get is Swedish Fish gummies. Leon’s is any form of potato chips. Hope likes Kitkats the best. Phoenix is the type of kid who would be fond of Almond Joy, and Natsumi loves Sweet Tarts. Koichi has to be pickier due to his peanut allergy, and so his favourite tends to be Skittles. Junichi’s favourite is admittedly licorice; he pretends to like black licorice to be mature but really his favourite is the classic red. Seiko adores Aero, purely because she thinks they’re so neat. Kameyo likes to eat Smarties (Canadian Smarties, I should note -- here, we call your Smarties: “Rockets”) because of all of their wonderful chocolatey colours!

Writing Prompt Requests [CLOSED - thank you for your submissions!]
Alright, as promised, here we are! My writing prompt requests are officially open. In order to show my appreciation for all of you, I’d like to get some requests underway.
But of course, before we can get everything underway, I’d like to talk a bit about some things to keep in mind for working on the requests...
#1: The requests will be done with dialogue prompts! I’m going to try to reblog a couple over the course of this week so that you guys can pick from the list and send your requests in. I probably won’t get to work on them until the 15th, but I’d like to collect some before then.
So, if you’re interested, please check out the dialogue prompts I reblog(ged)! If you’ve submitted already without dialogue, don’t worry — I’m still going to write for you, haha.
#2: I’d like to ask that we don’t get smutty/spicy. I’m fine with writing in a way that is suggestive, but I’d prefer to not write smut please and thank you!
#3: You can request writing based on DR1, SDR2, UDG, DR3, DRV3, DR:IF, DR0, DRK, and DRT. I’m also willing to write for DR21, but I don’t imagine anybody’s gonna request that, haha. Really, the only thing I can’t write is Danganronpa: Killer Killer and anything related to some of the popular fan games.
#4: For pairings, no incest/pedophilia. Just a little general rule for everyone’s health and safety!
#5: For pairings, please send me the ask as Character A x Character B or Character A/Character B... or the pairing name! If you send Character A & Character B, I’ll probably end up writing you some friendship/family fic, and that might not be what you’re after!
#6: Please, I beg of you, be patient with me. I have no idea how many requests I could get, and I’m still a full-time student. There’s a chance these will bleed past my week off, and so I’ll need you to be patient with me. No matter how long it takes, I try to be a woman of my word.
#7: Feel free to tack on some headcanons to your prompts! I don’t mind incorporating them.
With all that being said, I hope you’ll have fun sending me requests! I greatly look forward to writing whatever you might send to me, and as this is an event for a follower milestone... I’d like to say thank you once again. Much love to all of you ♡

Hey koto why does kyoko have ptsd? Doesn't makoto also have ptsd? Makoto and kyoko share the same illness because of a certain ultimate despair's chaos and destruction that once tore apart hope's peak Makoto is the ultimate love, faith and hope/ultimate lucky student you should start a story called the chronicles of the ultimate hope and the ultimate detective.
(For those of you who don’t know, this question is in reference to my Naegiri Week Day 2 post: https://archiveofourown.org/works/21828169/chapters/52126780)
Well, Kyoko has PTSD for all the reasons you mentioned! All in all, even in comparison to other characters, Kyoko’s lived a messed up life. She’s been around killing and death from as young as thirteen (or even younger) to as old as twenty-one, and furthermore is someone who was abandoned by most of her family and seemingly manipulated and used by the one member of her family who stayed. I imagine that would be a scarring experience for anyone, so I do interpret Kyoko as having PTSD. I also tend to headcanon that she hides some deeper attachment issues due to her familial struggle, but that’s a different story.
But yes, Makoto does have PTSD as well! His life is more normal than hers, but still infinitely weird and messed up. He and Kyoko both have it; they just struggle in different ways. That doesn’t mean there aren’t similarities between their struggle; it just means that they’re not exactly the same. I would say the rest of the survivors probably have PTSD, too.
As for your suggestion about the story, I would love to, but I’m awfully reluctant to start up anything new in terms of full-length fanfictions. Naegiri Week is something I look forward to every year, but I burn myself out so many one-shots so fast (because I can never seem to get them done until the day of). Plus, I’ve told myself a million times that I need to restrict myself to DR21 being my big focused project. That being said, though, Regeneration, Rebuild is probably the closest I can get to having something like that. There is much Naegiri to be had there, if that’s any comfort.

DR21 Family Trivia Pt. 2
So I realized that I originally only released half of this, for I wanted to wait to have a little more knowledge of certain fankids out there. But there’s enough known about them now, so I present to you:
Some good old Post-Hope Arc family headcanons featuring the Neverminds, the Togamis, and the Kuzuryuus.
The Togami Family (Byakuya & Junichi Togami):
Junichi’s mother was a French-German woman named Aceline Aleshire.
Byakuya had been desperate when Aceline had offered herself up as surrogate for his heir, so despite how insufferable she could be, he took her on in exchange for him paying her a great sum of money. After Junichi’s birth, she took the money and abandoned Byakuya and the child despite being expected to carry out more responsibilities until the child was older.
Byakuya has chosen to raise his son in the exact same way his father brought him up, but in truth actually has some doubts when it comes to that parenting style.
Rather than living in a mansion, Junichi and Byakuya actually reside in a house, for Byakuya does not want to waste any of the money the Conglomerate is earning on more than he needs.
Despite Byakuya not wanting to waste money on things that are not necessity, he has still hired a maid, a nanny, a chef, and a butler for their home.
Though he does not live with them, Byakuya still pays for all of Aloysius Pennyworth’s expenses and ensure that he is safe and healthy.
If Junichi had been a girl, his father would have named him “Shinobu” after his deceased aunt.
Junichi wishes he looked more like his father, despite inheriting most of his facial features. Byakuya agrees, hating to be reminded of Aceline.
Junichi and Byakuya both deny Toko, Kyoko, Aoi, Kanon, and Komaru’s insistence on trying to be mother figures for Junichi. Junichi secretly likes it, but Byakuya wishes they wouldn’t interfere so much as his ego allows him to believe that nothing is wrong with his parenting style.
Junichi won’t admit it upfront, but he wants a more wholesome relationship with his father rather than having his most important role be the Togami family heir.
The Kuzuryuu Family (Peko, Fuyuhiko, and Natsumi Kuzuryuu):
Fuyuhiko did not propose formally to Peko. His words were, and I quote, “So are we gettin’ fucking married or not?”
Peko actually adores motherhood and loves Natsumi more than just about anything. She was definitely uncertain at first, but loves it to pieces now. So much so that she can be a little over involved in her daughter’s life.
Peko and Fuyuhiko are highly overprotective parents, which annoys Natsumi to no end. It is actually what sparked her urge to be rebellious.
Natsumi is pretty handy with a bamboo sword and a handgun. Both skills are things she was taught by her parents.
\Natsumi is the queen of hide and seek. She used to be able to hide for hours on end (typically in trees) without being found, to the point of Phoenix having to ask her parents for help in finding her because she was just that good. There were quite a few occasions where Fuyuhiko and Peko had to temporarily ban Natsumi from playing hide and seek.
When Natsumi first started mixing her non-alcoholic drinks, Peko and Fuyuhiko were her first test subjects. They were the ones who would drink every kind and tell her which flavours were the best. Sometimes if one was a particularly bad mixture they would end up getting sick from it, but they didn’t care because they had helped their little girl do something she loved.
Fuyuhiko and Natsumi used to go flower picking together, and once they had picked a beautiful array of flowers they would bring them home and present them to Peko.
Natsumi’s love of volleyball caused their family to start playing regular volleyball games with the Nevermind Family and other Jabberwock Islanders on Tuesday nights.
Sometimes Natsumi likes to draw pictures of her parents having fun and being in love, though her favourite things to draw are typically landscapes. She draws them more often from memory while at Hope’s Peak when she’s feeling homesick.
Peko is the only member of their family who is not lactose intolerant.
When Natsumi got old enough, Fuyuhiko and Peko came clean about being former members of the Yakuza. It was a hard conversation to have, but ultimately Natsumi accepted their past for what it was and said she was proud of them for trying to change.
Peko and Natsumi sometimes like to go seashell-collecting together on the beaches of Jabberwock Island.
The Nevermind Family (Sonia, Gundham, and Phoenix Nevermind):
Gundham and Sonia were the last couple with children to get married.
They half-planned for Phoenix, deciding to have a child soon but not deciding on an exact time period. A week or so after this discussion, Sonia discovered with Mikan’s help that she was pregnant! Gundham was so delighted that he lifted Sonia up in his arms and swung her around gleefully.
Gundham is the primary cook of their household, as Sonia had less knowledge of it and Gundham did not want his son to have to eat “poisonous” food in order to keep his mother from tearing up.
Before Phoenix left for Hope’s Peak, Gundham gave his son his very own scarf and a hamster. When he’s not in uniform, Phoenix will wear the scarf. He also brought the hamster with him to Hope’s Peak, and dubbed it “Sir Squeaksalot”.
Sonia is still in communication with the kingdom of Novoselic thanks to Makoto’s help, and discusses the country’s progress under the rule of her cousin Azaiah.
When Phoenix was small, he and his parents would play together as a family. If he was playing with dolls, stuffed animals, actions figures, etc.; his parents would ask if they could join and soon the three of them would be absorbed in to a world of happiness and wonder.
When they got married, Sonia was the one who proposed to Gundham. Gundham did not propose to Sonia.
The whole family watches Japanese dramas together, but Phoenix and Sonia are the only ones who truly enjoy them. Gundham just enjoys seeing the way his wife and son’s passion shines through their faces, and he enjoys being able to spend the time with them.
Gundham and Sonia did not teach Phoenix about the tooth fairy. Instead, Gundham told him tales of the Tooth Demon of the Underworld who takes children’s baby teeth to offer in trade as a delicacy of the Underworld. Gundham claims that due to the demon’s belief in the trading industry, he will leave candies for the child in exchange for their baby teeth as thanks.
Sonia was the one who taught Phoenix how to sword fight, and later the two of them were having so much fun that Gundham awkwardly asked if he too could learn. Soon enough it became something the whole family would do for fun.
Despite the fact that they have never returned to Novoselic, Phoenix takes great pride in his Novoselican roots and wishes to return someday. Sonia even remarks that he seems to have the idea of challenging her cousin’s daughter for the right to the throne in a friendly competition. This dream worries his parents somewhat.
Phoenix is the only fanchild to have a middle name due to his half-Japanese roots. When selecting a middle name, Sonia proposed to Gundham the names of kings of Novoselic’s past including Frederick, George, and Bartholomew. Hearing the word “mew” and being reminded of a cat… guess which one Gundham selected.

A Reminder about Asks
...
SEND ME AS MANY AS YOU WANT.
I really do mean it! I would absolutely love to receive asks for just about anything, really. I’d also just like to say that it does not have to be related to Danganronpa 21 in any way, shape, or form. If you’d like to submit asks about DR21 of any kind, you’re definitely welcome to do so... but you are not obligated.
Headcanons, recommendations, opinions, trivia, thoughts about characters, messages just to say hi or requesting for friendship, appeals for advice, writing/character help, writing feedback, progress update requests, any random thoughts you may have, requests for emotional support... the list of what you can send to me goes on and on and on. I might even open one-shot requests at some point when I’ve got more time!
Really, I’d just like to start to interact a bit more with everyone. So if you want to submit some asks, it would totally make my day --- but don’t feel obligated if you don’t want to!
Thank you very much for your attention and support, and as always I hope you have a very good day!!
