What must it feel like to realise you are part of an organisation that has placed so-called progressive values ahead of evidence, risking real-world harms to countless vulnerable young people?  

In the wake of the publication of the Cass review into gender identity services for under-18s in England, I know exactly how that feels. No, I’ve not been moonlighting for the now defunct Tavistock clinic: I work as a journalist for BBC News.

Regrettably, I believe there is a straight line between the BBC’s capitulation to extreme trans rights ideologues and the disturbing findings in Dr Hilary Cass’s 388-page report.

Crucially, what Dr Cass has exposed was only able to happen because of a skewed and distorted national conversation around the issue of sex and gender, a narrative I believe aided by the nation’s broadcaster. Dissenting voices have been marginalised, castigated, cancelled, silenced.

Well before Dr Cass got to work, BBC employees started putting their preferred pronouns in their email signatures. Given the increasingly polarised political debate over self-ID, these virtue-signalling postscripts made a mockery of the BBC’s neutral remit; they also exerted an unspoken pressure on colleagues who resisted this posturing.

When Dr Cass began her work in 2020, after an alarming spike in the number of gender-questioning patients being referred to the NHS, mainly teenaged girls, what was the BBC doing? Was it providing an evidence-based corrective counterweight to the toxic trans extremist narrative gaining traction online?

Nope. As children spent even more time on screens thanks to the Covid-19 restrictions and school closures, the BBC Teach website was hosting an educational film in which young children were told there were over 100 gender identities.

As Dr Cass tried in vain to wrest data from the uncooperative Tavistock clinic to assist her work, the BBC was doubling down on its adherence to the cultish self-ID doctrine, depicting in news reports sadistic male murderers and devious rapists as women so as not to offend these odious men; victims be damned. This approach by a news organisation on any topic, let alone a hugely disputatious issue, looks like pure propaganda.

Despite having a well-funded Verify department, the BBC has made no attempts to set out the cold, hard scientific reality that modern medicine has found no way of changing a healthy biological male human into a woman, or vice versa. 

Neither has the BBC’s Disinformation and Social Media Correspondent ever tried to interrogate the often-aired claim that ‘trans women are women’, a favourite slogan of the charity Stonewall, which the BBC was closely affiliated with as recently as late 2021.

Even simply looking the other way was not enough for the BBC. Instead, it signalled what looked like a complete abandonment of accuracy on the trans issue when it upheld a complaint against the Today programme’s Justin Webb for daring to say that trans women are ‘in other words, males’.

Now, thanks to the diligent and courageous work of Dr Hilary Cass, the BBC has been forced to reflect on its sins of commission and omission, and platform some sane voices on the subject.

On the day of her review’s publication, Radio 4’s Today programme broadcast an interview with Dr Cass. With the measured and level delivery one would expect of a respected clinician, she detailed some of her shocking findings, from the rocketing number of troubled teenage girls seeking gender dysphoria treatment to the fact there is no good evidence puberty blockers are a safe treatment for young people wishing to transition.

She refused to opine on whether her review had uncovered a scandal. The author Helen Joyce was far less reticent when, nearly three years after publication of her book, Trans: When Ideology Meets Reality, she was finally invited on to the BBC to talk about the issue.

She told the 5 Live breakfast programme the report was: ‘A stinging indictment of the NHS, of the regulators in healthcare, the politicians and the media, including the BBC… all of whom have looked away as a medical scandal unfolded with vulnerable children at its heart.’

In a move characteristic of the intellectual level of 5Live debates however, Joyce was only allowed to speak after listeners had been subjected to the views of former Big Brother contestant and transgender celebrity Hallie Clarke. Clarke declaimed she had always known that she ‘wasn’t in the right body’ because she used to dress up in ‘blonde wigs’ and wore pink as a young child.

Nicky Campbell was up next on 5Live, hosting his weekday phone-in. It soon became clear that there was relief among callers that the BBC was finally waking up and smelling the coffee. One mother told Campbell how her daughter’s school had connived with the youngster, who began questioning her gender after being ‘horribly bullied’. The school allowed her to use a different name and referred her to a gender clinic without her mother being informed.

Mercifully, the story had a happy ending. The teenager narrowly avoided gender dysphoria ‘treatment’ due to long waiting lists and had grown into a young woman who was now a ‘happy and thriving lesbian’, content in her own body following ‘lots of counselling’.

‘Thank goodness I didn’t take her to one of those private gender clinics,’ her mother said. ‘She could have been prescribed hormones; she could have gone down the wrong path. Thank goodness we didn’t do that.’ This brave mother then gave words of advice to other parents of gender-confused children: ‘Watchful waiting. First do no harm.’

Another courageous woman, one of the few BBC journalists to emerge with credit from the gender treatment scandal, also appeared on the airwaves. Hannah Barnes, formerly of Newsnight but now associate editor at the New Statesman, wrote Time to Think: The Inside Story of the Collapse of the Tavistock’s Gender Service for Children.

She told Woman’s Hour the disturbing findings of the Cass Review had been known for a long time.

‘For those who have followed this for many years, there are no surprises in there but it’s quite shocking to see it laid out in such devastating and comprehensive detail… For the Prime Minister to say a spotlight has been shone (on the issue), well, yes, but it’s been shining in the background for a long time and really we probably should have acted long before this.’

A brave mother and a courageous journalist. Perhaps in future, BBC editors should be guided by these fearless women, rather than fretting about ‘misgendering’ killers and sex offenders.

All-Star Squadron #13

Warning, Spoilers Ahead…

“One Day, During The War” by Roy Thomas, Adrian Gonzales, and Mike DeCarlo.

Hawman calls the first official meeting of the All-Star Squadron to order. Present for the meeting are the Shining Knight, Johnny Quick, Liberty Belle, Hawkgirl, Robotman, Commander Steel, Firebrand, and the Atom.

Hawkman’s first order of business is to elect a chairman for the All-Star Squadron. Carter has declined the position as he is still and active member of the Army Air Force.

Hawkman notes Batman, Superman, the Spectre, and the Flash have not enlisted in the armed services. Wonder Woman is noted to not be a member of the Justice Society but she has accepted membership in the All-Star Squadron.

The Shining Knight reports that his fellow members in the Seven Soldiers of Victory (Green Arrow, Speedy, Vigilante, Crimson Avenger, Star-Spangled Kid, Stripesy) have not enlisted in the arms services but stand ready to aid the All-Star Squadron as individuals or as a group.

Robotman mentions other possible candidates for membership: Mr. Terrific, Wildcat, Air Wave, TNT & Dyna-Mite, Doll Man, Mr. America, Manhunter, and Plastic Man. Plas has previously assisted the All-Stars on two occasions.

Commander Steel is amazed by the number of mystery men that have debuted since he was a prisoner of war.

The group votes – by ballot – to elect a new leader. The winner is…Liberty Belle! Johnny notes Libby is the “most widely-read lady columnist this side of Eleanor Roosevelt.”

Sir Justin announces he is taking a leave of absence as he will be returning to Brittain to serve as Winston Churchill’s personal protector. No, don’t take Justin away, he’s my favorite part of the series!

Firebrand, Johnny Quick, Liberty Belle, Hawkman, and Hawkgirl travel to California to visit Danette’s brother, Rod, who was wounded in the attack on Pearl Harbor. Rod was the original Firebrand.

Danette is having a difficult time letting go of her hatred for all Japanese due to the attack on her brother. Libby reminds Danette she lost her father to a Nazi bomb but she doesn’t hate all Germans. Libby couldn’t do that and remain sane.

Roy mentions this in several issues – the importance of not hating an entire country/ethnicity/group of people – due to the actions of a few.

The Hawks ditch the rest of the group as they travel over San Francisco. They want some alone time to make out.

Danette’s trauma from the first arc of the stories seems to be catching up to her. She’s certain nobody can protect her “just like nobody could protect my brother”.

Libby reminds Danette their true enemies are the fascist dictators, not the people under their yoke.

Back in New York, Commander Steel checks up on his old mentor, Dr. Gilbert Giles. Steel meets with his former fiancé, Gloria Giles, who informs him her father is dead. Steel almost reveals his identity to Gloria but doesn’t when he realizes she’s married to a serviceman named Brad Farley. Steel informs Gloria that Hank Heywood died on a mission in Europe.

Robotman returns to Queens, New York to check on a project Chuck Grayson, his assistant, is working on. Bob discovers Chuck and Joan Carter, Bob’s former girlfriend, unconscious. Bob destroys the malfunctioning machine that knocked the duo unconscious.

Joan is unaware of Bob’s survival in his robot shell. Bob wants it to stay that way until he is more comfortable in his new self. Bob uses a rubberized face and hands to appear as “Paul Dennis”.

“Paul” and Chuck are informed by a henchman for Sam Glottery that the lawyer is going to have Robotman declared a public menace.

The Shining Knight and Churchill return to England. Justin battles the planes that are blitzing England.

Danette, Johnny, and Libby enter the hospital where Rod is a patient. Danette reunites with Rod. Rod mentions Slugger Dunn has already returned to active duty. Danette confesses her hatred to Rod only to be scolded by her brother. He tells her she is “too smart for that kind of racist talk”. Rod reveals it was an American soldier of Japanese descent that saved Slugger and Rod’s lives – at the cost of his own.

Danette comes to her senses and begs forgiveness for being “fool-blinded by hate”. Rod tells Danette to be a force for good.

Firebrand, Johnny Quick, and Liberty Belle entertain the wounded soldiers at the hospital.

Back in Washington, Al (the Atom) meets up with Mary James, his girlfriend. Mary isn’t thrilled with Al’s enlistment and begs him to come home safe.

A simple “day in the life” issue that wrapped up the loose ends on Commander Steel’s plot and set up Robotman’s future plot. The past few arcs (Feathered Serpent, Baron Blitzkrieg, Hastor/Flying Eye) were weak, but this was a return to form. Great character moments for most of the All-Stars. Loved it.

Of your own choosing...

CS Lewis famously remarked that “the gates of hell are locked from the inside.” In other words, the residents of the damned are there based on personal preference. It’s not because they’d rather be in heaven but only lacked sufficient information.

Echoing Lewis, Christian philosopher Dallas Williard wrote that hell isn’t “an ‘oops’ or a slip. One does not miss heaven by a hair, but by a constant effort to avoid and escape God.”

But are these famous Christian thinkers correct?... Let’s take a look at some notable examples:

Mark Twain, who is considered to be the father of American literature:

“I am plenty safe enough in his hands; I am not in danger from that kind of Deity. The one that I want to keep out of the reach of is the caricature of him which one finds in the Bible. We (that one and I) could never respect each other, never get along together. I have met this superior a hundred times in fact I amount to that myself.” (Personal correspondence to his wife 7/17/1889)

John Shelby Spong, author, liberal theologian:

“(The God of the Bible is) a God I cannot respect, much less worship, a deity whose needs and prejudices are at least as large as my own.” (Rescuing the Bible From Fundamentalism)

Desmond Tutu, civil rights activist, liberal Anglican cleric:

“I would refuse to go to a homophobic heaven. No, I would say sorry… I would much rather go to the other place.” (Archbishop Tutu ‘would not worship a homophobic God’, BBC News)

Kingsley Amos, novelist, poet:

“I’m an atheist, yes. But it’s more that I hate Him”, explaining his view of God to Yevgeni Yevtushenko. (God Meets the Old Devil, The Independent)

Dan Barker, Founder of Freedom from Religion Foundation, said in a debate with Justin Bass:

“Even if Jesus did exist, even if I agreed with [Dr. Bass] 100%,  yep, he rose from the dead, yep, there’s a God, yep, I don’t deny any of  that, does not mean that he is my Lord. If he did exist…I will go  happily to hell. It would be worse of a hell for me to bow down before a Lord…regardless of the legend and historicity issue…Even if I agreed 100%, I would still reject that Being as a Lord of my life because I’m better than that…I cannot accept Jesus as Lord…You’re much freer to live  and enjoy your life unshackled from the demands…” (The Bible and Beer Consortium, Jesus of Nazareth: Lord or Legend? / Dr. Justin Bass and Dan Barker)

Donald Fagen, lead singer of the band Steely Dan:

When asked about the meaning of his song titled Godwacker, Fagen said, “It’s about an elite squad of assassins whose sole assignment is to find a way into heaven and take out God. If the Deity actually existed, what sane person wouldn’t consider this to be justifiable homicide?” (Eminent Hipsters by Donald Fagen)

Zora Neale Hurston, folklorist, anthropologist, and author of Their Eyes Were Watching God:“

All gods who receive homage are cruel. All gods dispense  suffering without reason. Otherwise, they would not be worshiped. Through indiscriminate suffering men know fear, and fear is the most divine emotion. It is the stones for altars and the beginning of wisdom. Half gods are worshipped in wine and flowers. Real gods require blood.”

JS Mill, philosopher. Mill is considered to be one of the most influential thinkers in the history of classical liberalism:

“Whatever power such a being may have over me, there is one thing  which he shall not do: he shall not compel me to worship him. I will  call no being good, who is not what I mean when I apply the epithet to my fellow-creatures; and if such a being can sentence me to hell for not so calling him, to hell I will go.” (An Examination of Sir William Hamilton’s Philosophy, p 103)

William Ernest Henley, poet, in his famous poem “Invictus”:

Beyond this place of wrath and tears, Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years, Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.

Henley is quoting Matthew 7:14 and is pretty brazenly saying he is the captain of his soul, not God.

OCPD: Prologue

9/28/97

I turned the corner, and stood for a moment, staring at the ominous gray building ahead, before walking in. The medical center on campus. I wasn’t sick, and certainly didn’t have health issues, but maybe there was an underlying issue in my head. That’s what brought me here last Thursday. My roommate and best friend had already deemed me “crazy”, but I knew they were just joking. I was the sane one in the group of friends, they were the crazy ones, always making risky decisions and not following order. But, I guess, being fired from my job publicly and then blowing up at my ex-manager, brought a realization that I might actually be in the wrong. All I was doing was cleaning all the dishes, syrups, and the counter at the local coffee shop I used to work at. That should’ve been appreciated, I’d think. Instead I got berated for not making the line of 6 drinks. Excuse me?? How can I possibly make drinks when the entire environment is filthy! And so, I raised my voice, made a scene, and was promptly given the boot. I explained the whole situation to my best friend, Kelly after the incident on the corner phone booth, and she remarkably seemed unfazed.

“Justin, you really should’ve made the drinks. You shouldn’t have customers wait just because the work area is messy.”

“But it was a pigsty!”

“Look here, I’ve been friends with you for over a year. And I can tell you for a fact, there is never a place you’ve been that has ever been a pigsty! You clean everything- to perfection. There is no way you would’ve been working and the mess would’ve been so huge.”

“Perfection? Nothing is ever perfect. Especially not me. I just got fired!”

And so, I hung up and things between me and her have been icy since. That’s what really prompted me to go to the medical center and ask to see a psychologist. Kelly had been by my side since the beginning of freshman year, always pushing my boundaries into trying new things, caring less about structure and orderliness, and even drinking at a party! I really did consider dating her, so I could have a wife who could relate to me so well- even if that isn’t what I really desired.

“Hi there! Can I help you?” a soft-spoken, husky voice asked from below me.

“Yeah, sorry. I was lost in my thoughts.” Instinctually, I pinched the back of my left wrist, and made a mental note for that never to happen again. To never embarrass myself by not being attentive.

“It’s alright, man. Now what are you here for?”

“I have an appointment for Dr. Philipps at 4.”

“And your name?” the cute stranger probed.

“Justin Pawlowski”

“Ah, nice. A fellow Pole. I’m Scott Novak.” The secretary said, reaching out a hand. I noticed out of the corner of my eye that the clock had just struck 3:59. Now I’d have to make small talk for a whole minute…Luckily this Scott guy was cute.

“So, do you go to Notre Dame?”

“Nah, I graduated last year, in ’96. I was a psychology major though and found an easy job just working right here, on campus. I would like to move to Chicago eventually, but this area is still nice.”

“Oh, I graduated in ’96 also. From high school, though.”

“Yeah, I guess I’m getting old. 4 years older than the patients…ah”

“So, you’re from Chicago?”

“Actually Evanston, but it’s a suburb just north of the city.”

“Do you like what you do?”

“Yeah, it’s a great job, and not that hard. I really do gain experience though by meeting all the patients and with real disorders.”

The clock was about to strike 4, so I simply said “Nice to meet you Scott. Is Dr. Philipps ready now?”

“Yeah, he’s in room 208. I’ll see you later.”

I walked into the room, thinking of how although I did want to see Scott later, I didn’t want to come back into this building again. I wanted a simple diagnosis, a prescription, and no need to come back. I greeted Dr. Philipps, the same psychiatrist who evaluated me last week. He was a stocky middle-aged African American with a soothing voice and salt and pepper hair.

“Alright, Justin. Let’s get right to this. I analyzed the various tests from last week and can conclude that you have obsessive compulsive personality disorder.”

“I have OCD?” I said thinking of how Monica on “Friends”- that popular show Kelly had convinced me to watch, even it was all immoral- had OCD.

“No, not quite. OCPD. While OCD is an anxiety disorder, OCPD is a personality disorder.”

“So, what medications are you prescribing?”

“None actually. Because you have a personality disorder, I can’t simply give you anxiety meds like if you had OCD. Instead, I have to prescribe you to come here every Thursday afternoon at 4. I’ll help alleviate your disorder by counseling. This is actually much better for you, because these 1 hour counseling sessions are covered, since you’re a student here. Medication wouldn’t be covered, and you’d have to shell out a hundred or more dollars a year.”

“Yeah, I guess that’s true. But is there really something so wrong with me that I have to do this?”

“I’m sorry Justin, but your story about being fired is rather disturbing. If your disorder goes unchecked, that could repeat itself at your next job, and you could lose friends. It really is in your best interest to show up every week. At least until your condition is alleviated, and you can assimilate back into normal life. Chances are you won’t ever be ‘cured’, but it is critical that you can control your need for perfection.”

“Ok, I guess.”

“One more thing, and I know this might be hard to hear, but you’re underweight. I’m going to have to prescribe you to eat more, and more foods high in fat and sugar. If I don’t see progress on that scale, I will have to prescribe you ensure so you can take in calories more easily.”

“I beg your pardon?! I’m perfectly healthy. I eat only healthy foods and exercise 2 hours every day.”

“And that’s your problem, Justin. When was the last time you ate a dessert?”

“I certainly don’t remember why I would ever have an occasion to do that to my body.”

“Exactly. Eating sweets, and simple fats- in moderation- is key to being healthy. Your weight indicates that you’re more susceptible to getting sick, being fatigued, and puts extra pressure on your heart- especially with that much exercise. With 2 hours every day, you really should be having more muscle mass than you do. But because you don’t eat enough, all that work is only combatting the little fat on your frame.”

I took a gulp, thought with dread, of eating a single dessert, and said “ok.”

“Ok, look here at your weight. You’re 131 pounds and at 6’1 that puts your BMI at 17.3, below the 18.5 needed for the bare minimum healthy weight. That would be 141 pounds, a 10 pound gain. Although, realistically, you should be aiming for a BMI around 21. That would be 159 pounds. If you can gain the 28 pounds needed to put you there, and improve in other facets of your life, I will discharge you from coming each week.”

“Are you sure that’s necessary? I thought you said 141 would be good.”

“Being at the very edge of healthy would allow for you to simply bloat to get up to there. It wouldn’t be stable. I’d suspect if you only gained 10 pounds, you’d easily lose the weight after these sessions. I need to ensure that you gain and keep the weight on. “

“But why is my weight so important to my mental health?”

“Because your strict regiment, which has led you to this underweight status, is indicative of the serious mental liability, of having OCPD. You are aiming for a perfection- one that you feel that you never will reach, that is only ever skinnier and more muscular- a walking contradiction. I don’t want to put a label on it, but there’s a high chance that your mental disorder has caused an eating disorder also.”

I bit my lip, looked down, and said softly “alright”

“I’ll see you next Thursday, at 4, for a proper session, Justin.”

As I walked out of the building, I peered back at the cute round face behind the counter. I felt a deep longing to kiss Scott, feeling his light brown beard on my own cheeks. I rid these thoughts and plodded on downcast.

“Next Thursday?” he called out as he saw me leave.

“Yeah.”

‘Swimsuit’ Stunner Kate Upton Says She’s ‘Still Not Confident in a Bathing Suit’

She’s been on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue three times. But Kate Upton is no bold beach bunny. Yes, the stunner still has her off days, she’s the first to admit.

“I’m still not confident in a bathing suit!” she tells Yahoo Style. “That’s why you eat healthy and work out, to feel your best. You always have struggles. It’s not like I always feel my best. Everybody has moments where they don’t feel confident in a bikini. It’s what we’re striving for: self-love. We work our way up. When I don’t feel my best, that’s OK.”

She’s engaged to Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander and is understandably sick of answering questions about her wedding. But one thing is for sure: Unlike Pippa Middleton, who reportedly took part in a pre-wedding fitness boot camp, Upton has no intention of losing weight before her big day. She doesn’t own a scale — and never has.

“Honestly, because coming from the fashion world, weight — when I first started modeling — was very important. How much you weighed, how much you needed to lose, whatever it was,” she explains.

Like most members of her profession, Upton was told to drop pounds. “Yeah. Maybe not like that, but they insinuated, always,” she says. “I’m not trying to be fit for a number on a scale. Whenever I’m happiest, I try to maintain that. I don’t need a number.”

In general, her philosophy toward her health and well-being seems admirable and enviable.

“Anytime you take something away, you’re always going to miss it and want it. I try to eat healthy and work out and keep up a healthy lifestyle. But if I want a treat, I allow myself that freedom,” she says. “I weight-train, which also really helps raise my metabolism and gives me the ability to enjoy food.”

Taking her dog, a boxer named Harley, on daily walks also helps Upton stay sane and Zen. Shockingly, when she’s with him, she says, she mostly goes unnoticed.

“He’s the best distraction. People are drawn more to him than me,” she says. “He’s so good-looking.”

She’s the spokeswoman for the Link AKC smart collar for dogs, which connects owners and their pets. When Upton travels, for example, she can track whether Harley got enough exercise and, via GPS, see precisely where he is at any given moment.

“Look at that face,” she coos of her 7-year-old canine. Once a year, Upton and Verlander go to the Bahamas and bring Harley. “Everyone was laughing because I was telling them how his personality changes. We go poolside. He’ll follow any good-looking girl who passes. The guy’s gotta flirt.”

Recently, Upton was snapped walking Harley in sweats paired with $900 Manolos. No big deal, she says, given that when nature calls, she listens. “When you’re a dog mom, it doesn’t matter if you’re going to an event or not. You still have to walk them,” she says. “They still have to go to the bathroom.”

And don’t get her started on those who don’t scoop after their pets. She recalls that one time, while she was walking Harley at home in Florida, a stranger approached her and thanked her. “I said, ‘For what?’ ‘For picking up your dog’s poop.'”

In person, Upton is gregarious and gorgeous. Her skin alone could launch a thousand ships. Her routine is fairly simple: She washes her face every night and tones it. “I try to take care of my skin,” she says. “I find good products. I just started using Dr. Diamond’s serum. It just came out. I just started doing it. It helps my skin stay good and clean.”

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Release Date Revealed!

Everyone’s favorite marsupial is in the process of getting enhanced, entranced, and preparing to dance in HD graphical glory when he bursts back onto the scene in the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy game collection. But don’t worry, because the process isn’t that painful for him. At least it’s not anything that a couple of wumpa fruits won’t fix.

Now we know that Crash has plenty of fans out there, all eager for news about when this orange critter will spin things up again. And you’re in luck, because your patience has paid off. Activision and the development team at Vicarious Visions have been hard at work updating this classic trilogy. They have some big news to share with you and are answering some of the questions they’ve received from fans, so read on!

No, seriously, from our point of view it’s about being confident in a schedule that allows us to deliver on the quality of games we all want. We had to ensure everything’s aligned to deliver it smoothly. Sometimes it takes a bit of time to know these things.

What has changed from the original games in the environment art?

This is a great question and something that we’ve been working pretty hard on. The addition of real-time lighting in a PBR (Physically Based Rendering) engine, along with an increase in texture size, can sometimes make our environments look different than the originals.

Generally, while we strive to recreate each level so it looks and feels like the original, we also want to make sure that environments are fun, colorful, and read well in the fast-paced action with the addition of the new technology we are using.

What’s been your favorite level to make art for and why?

I’ve enjoyed working on the prehistoric levels, and I found them to be a good case for reinterpretation. As I started working on them, I found that adding more greenery helped bring more of the earthy, prehistoric look that hearkens back to the illustrations in dinosaur books I loved as a kid. I also decided the path is more like shallow swamp water, since a tar pit would slow the player down.

I like the contrasting mix of familiar elements of earth, fire, water, and plants, and it has been fun trying to effectively blend these elements.

My favorite level to work on was Future Frenzy.  This level was jam packed with lights, signs, and all of these cool futuristic shapes.  It was really fun making the city look alive, with all of the neon signs and the flashing lights.  Getting the reflections on the buildings to look just right was a lot of work for the engineering team, but I'm really excited with how it turned out.

My favorite levels to make art for have been Deep Trouble and Under Pressure. These underwater levels are full of colorful and exotic sea plants that bring the whole environment to life. I wanted to give more depth to these levels, so look out for a fuller looking ocean.

Wow, I actually had to look up ‘jorts’! Our version of Crash is wearing surfer shorts which we felt reads much closer to the shapes, colors, and forms in the original games, and is in line with the original concept art we started from that was provided to us by Sony. We feel it also speaks to his ‘90s era persona.

Why did you remake the soundtrack compositions, instead of reusing the originals?

We are recreating the original compositions to match the high-definition visuals and the updated look and feel of the game.  The original music was brilliantly composed and arranged to get the most out of the memory and processing power of the original PlayStation. With much expanded resources, we are able to really improve sound quality and fidelity, while staying faithful to the original compositions.

Hailey Bieber Says Her Skin is Better When She’s in Canada

It’s no secret that Hailey and Justin Bieber are spending their days social distancing in Canada. Shortly before the borders between Canada and the US closed, the Biebers decided to hole up in their Ontario home for the foreseeable future and as it turns out, the decision has proved to be particularly good for Hailey’s skin.

In a recent online masterclass with Dr. Barbara Sturm, the bareMinerals ambassador shared some of her skincare secrets and revealed that Canada’s fresh air plays a key role in keeping her skin sane. “My skin actually stays a lot better in Canada with less issues, than when I’m in a bigger city where there is more pollution like New York or Los Angeles,” she shared. The model also added that she likes to keep her skincare routine fairly simple and that she has never once fallen asleep with her makeup on. “I know a lot of people who forget, they fall asleep with their makeup on, but let me just say this: Even at my drunkest I’ve never fallen asleep with makeup on my face.”

She also shared that husband Justin is battling adult acne, and that she has Perioral dermatitis which means that “certain products irritate my skin, giving me a horrible itchy rash around my mouth and eyes.” As a result, she avoids products that are heavily fragranced “as it’s too much on the skin.”

Skincare is clearly something the 23-year old is passionate about. During a recent Instagram live on Justin’s account, she hinted that her own skincare line could potentially be in the works in the future. “My mom and my grandma have taken really good care of their skin. They taught me the importance of skincare. It’s all about how you eat, how you take care of [your skin] – there will be some things in the future from me that have to do with skincare.” Watch this space.

Regarding, insurance options, one way of healing, recalling my days, in college of how I cherished, having an alumni access to computer labs that enable connections with fine tutors and university libraries that gave access to special archives and antique books that allowed you to see the difference of worlds far apart --between holy and the world man...

 And access to a health/gym to keep you healthy, and sane, that with that alum card and membership --you know  that since there are many state and government, in conjunction with NGOs and NPOs  And, many with Access to University Health or Hospitals, alums, should easiliy have access, and especially those veterans, or hopefuls to serve.

And  Regardless of disability, as long as, the mental capacity is high.

That.the gauge for service in any capacity is high mental spiritual, and emotional capacity, with not only a 1)combination of education, internal but external --2)including, service, self-learning, 

3)life-experience, with mentorship and training --

A requirement which in the end, will yield to quality service for the nation or in some sense nation states like commonwealths. 

The notion, that not only you, but your ancestors, generational sacrifices and in what is meant by that is legacy --lends identity in particular to locale --gives you access.

The proposal, is that along the way, this determines where you belong and deserves, access through sacrifice. Especially considering that your University, considering it is in conjunction and in the circles and confines with the City or State (Commonwealths)--  conjunction with your legacy.

Who doesn’t know all about the 140 character goodness of Twitter these days? Originally, the 140 character limit was designed to allow users to send a single “tweet” through a single SMS text message. With over 300 million active monthly Twitter users, it’s hard to imagine a time when people weren’t using this social media giant! If we zap back into reality though, the service has only been a part of our lives for just over a decade. This has us all remembering a time when celebrities, politicians and billionaires were just discovering Twitter. At first, it was just a fun little pop sensation that kept them all current, but soon they realized that it was a powerful requirement to staying relevant! So in researching some of the most active celebrities and Twitter users these days, it is interesting that just like every person’s first words as a baby, we each get one shot at our first tweet! Some make the most of it, tweeting a profound statement or making a hilarious entry, while others have a very anti-climactic debut to the twitter-verse. Amazingly, there is one instance where someone has thousands of followers despite not having ever sent a tweet! While sifting through countless celebrity accounts, I have identified 15 of the best, funniest and most interesting “first tweets” put out to the world.

#1 Donald Trump Way back in 2009, when Donald Trump was some ordinary celebrity billionaire with a reality television series, he (or rather his people) decided to try this Twitter thing. Over 33 million followers, a Presidential election and daily news media discussion concerning his personal tweeting later and The Donald has so much social media power that the mere mention of a company or industry in a single tweet can create a change in the stock market! But waaaay back in 2009 when it all started for him, his epic first tweet was asking people to tune in to watch “him” do the David Letterman Top Ten list. At that point, other people obviously handled his tweeting for him. He wasn’t even a candidate at that point, but perhaps his old tweeting habits would serve him better than the personal touches he has added now.

#2 Katy Perry With over 100.5 million Twitter followers, Katy Perry is the number one account with the most followers in the world. That is such an amazingly impressive number that she could literally stop performing and recording music and just work her Twitter presence and still generate millions of dollars every year! But the monster that is her Twitter following all got started back on February 20, 2009 when she decided to tweet out that she had just arrived in Berlin and that she was feeling better (she was apparently a little under the weather). She also excitedly acknowledged her new Twitter presence and called herself a “follower.” Well Katy, with over 100 million “followers” to your account, we think the tables have turned. Who is the follower now Miss Perry?

#3 Cashmeousside Girl Danielle Bregoli, more commonly known as “Cashmeousside Girl” is known for her terrible behavior toward…well, everyone! She rocked the world when she went on Dr. Phil and showed off. Since then, she’s become one of the most viral memes of all time, has been on a variety of web shows and commands (and gets) big bucks to make personal appearances and say her famous catchphrase “cashmeousside, how bou dat?” But this has all been at the age of 13 when she was young and dumb. She’s now at the mature age of 14 and seems to be growing up. So what was her first tweet almost five long months ago? It doesn’t make much sense to anyone that doesn’t know what on earth she’s talking about. Calling some girl a hoe and referring to a butt pad. Way to keep your twitter entrance classy Danielle.

#4 Justin Bieber While Katy Perry is solidly in first place when it comes to Twitter followers, Justin Bieber is at an impressive second place. Bieber has had his ups and downs as a celebrity, going from cute kid singing his heart out on YouTube to international sensation, to self-absorbed douchebag celebrity to back on top and a little more classy. Through it all, his loyal fans (Beliebers) have kept the faith in him. His Twitter following has climbed and climbed since his first tweet in May of 2009. His first tweet was nothing ceremonial, except to promote “One Time” on his myspace page. If he knew then that his Twitter following would be as substantial as it has become, he likely would have said something more clever. But then again… this is Justin Bieber we’re talking about.

#5 Kris Jenner March 10, 2009 is a day that will live in infamy. Why? Because it’s the day Kris Jenner announced herself to the Twitter world and confessed that she invited all of her kids to join Twitter as well. I wonder if Kris realized the Pandora’s Box she was opening with those invites?! Truthfully, they probably would have found Twitter anyway, as it has obviously become a force that just couldn’t be stopped. Kris has managed to keep her fame and fame of her children going well past the typical fifteen minutes they deserve. She is still a hot reality star and a household name that most everyone recognizes. So sure enough, she’s been tweeting up a storm ever since that fateful day and hasn’t looked back. Thanks for nothing Kris.

#6 Kim Kardashian West One of those kids Kris Jenner invited to Twitter was her oldest daughter Kim Kardashian West. We all have come to know and tolerate Kim for so many different reasons. She is best known as being famous for being famous. Kim has done modeling, but it was the reality television show Keeping Up With the Kardashians that really made her “career” take off. So what was Kim’s first tweet and when? Well, it was a whole 11 days after her mother’s invitation to join (I guess she had to do some research) and Kim said to the world that she was on Twitter and while there were some fakes, this was the real one. A likely story for any posers out there. Of course, this was before Twitter had “verified” accounts.

#7 Oprah In April of 2009, her royal highness, Oprah Winfrey herself graced the Twitter world with her presence for the first time! Oprah today has one of the most followed accounts on the whole platform, but at the time, she very humbly said hello and acknowledged that she was a little late to the Twitter party by saying that she was feeling “really 21st century.” Oprah also said hello to the “Twitters.” This has us really wondering…considering that the term for those using Twitter tends to be questionable. Universally though, we are pretty sure that the term “Twitters” never took off. Tweeps, Tweeple and others have picked up some steam, but there isn’t just one word for users of the site. Sorry Oprah, but you don’t get to claim that one.

#8 John Cleese Some of the funniest things ever said didn’t actually use a whole lot of words, or require an extensive setup. John Cleese is known for his work with “Monty Python” and he has had a very prosperous and successful acting career. He is also one of the funniest British actors of his generation. He is also 77 years old, leaving us to think that perhaps he may not have the most to say on Twitter. True, his account isn’t at the top of the most followed list, but he does have 5.5 million followers. His first tweet was way back in December of 2007 when the platform was still very new. His profound entry into the world of Twitter was to say “ i am still alive” (all in lowercase with no punctuation). Nuff said I suppose John. Well done.

#9 CNN CNN has among the highest followings on Twitter. They have embraced the notion of using social media to expand their mission of delivering information and breaking news beautifully. Coming into the world of Twitter in early 2007 was a brilliant early move and they have reaped the rewards of being the news source with the highest following. So what amazing statement did they make as their first mark on the world of social media via Twitter? It was to announce the death of Anna Nicole Smith at age 39. While this was truly a sad event that no one would mock, it does seem somewhat odd that this is the first thing CNN decided to post. Either way, welcome to the tweeting world CNN, we’re glad you were one of the first to the party.

#10 Conan O’Brien Spending years as NBC’s show after the Tonight Show, Conan O’Brien established himself as funny, personable and one of the greats in late night television. Conan briefly took the reins of The Tonight Show but was quickly let go. Not one to run away with his tail between his legs, Conan went over to TBS and introduced their first step into late night. His show Conan has been extremely popular and well received by fans. Conan has been on Twitter for awhile now and looking back to his first tweet, we are not at all disappointed to see how funny he was from the beginning. He tweeted that he interviewed a squirrel in his backyard and then threw to commercial. This was in early 2010 in between his work at NBC and TBS. I think he was trying to tell us something with this tweet.

#11 Bill Clinton Former President of the United States Bill Clinton really needs to introduction. He spent eight years living in The White House and sincerely believed that he would be living there for four more at least. Bill didn’t have the luxury or burden (depending upon how you look at it) of Twitter during his two terms, but he did decide to join the party in April of 2013. He was a little late, but decided to get on board anyway. I guess he figured he’d better get all setup with social media before the 2016 election. Stephen Colbert gets the honor of being the topic of his first tweet. Clinton asked if he was sane? Then he said that he was cool. He even added a hashtag at the end of the tweet…#cgiu. Look at you being all modern Bill!

#12 Evan Spiegel Evan Spiegel is known as the youngest billionaire in the world. He is the CEO and co-founder of Snapchat. Sure, all these social media platforms are kind of indirectly competing with one another, but they still all use each of the other’s platform (even if it’s a secret account). Evan Spiegel has a verified Twitter account, meaning that it is the REAL him. He only has 58,000 followers though, which seems insanely low for such a high profile guy. He joined Twitter in 2010, so what gives? Well, you may notice that he has never…not once sent a tweet! Evan apparently has nothing to tweet about…but plenty to snapchat about I guess. It is kind of interesting though that 58,000 people follow an account that says absolutely nothing. The silence is deafening.

#13 Jerry Seinfeld Jerry Seinfeld is one of the most respected comedians in the world. Heck…at this point, he is one of the most respected comedians in history! He has carved out his place in history for sure. Best known for his “show about nothing” called Seinfeld back in the 90s, when Jerry speaks, everyone listens. So in 2013, when he opted to join Twitter, he said “hello Tweetarians” (that’s a new one) and acknowledged that this could be his last tweet. Well thankfully, it wasn’t his last tweet. He has tweeted out nearly 1,500 times and is followed by almost 5 million people! Surely he realized quickly that this was a pretty great way to communicate with fans and promote the work he does. Good thinking Jerry and we’re glad you decided to stick around.

#14 Kate Upton Model and actress Kate Upton may get the award for most hilarious first tweet. We have got to give her a lot of credit for coming up with something so witty to introduce herself to the world of Twitter. Back in October of 2010, she tweeted out: “I am trying to figure out how to make the background a picture of my boobs.” While this is surely something many slack jawed gawkers would absolutely love (anyone that has seen Kate Upton will get the point), Twitter wouldn’t stand for it I’m sure. She now has a couple of million followers, which clearly indicates that she doesn’t take building her social media presence all that seriously. Either way…she has a verified account and a few thousand tweets under her belt.

#15 First Tweet Ever…Jack Dorsey (CEO of Twitter) We really couldn’t have a list like this without posting the first official tweet ever sent out into the vast expanse of the Twitter-verse. Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Twitter established his account, @jack in March of 2006. What did he say you may ask? “Just setting up my twttr.” That’s kind of a let down when it comes to a historic event like the first tweet. Heck…he didn’t even spell out the word “Twitter.” He wasn’t even close to the 140 character limit! To paraphrase Forrest Gump: “If I had known that would be the first tweet I sent the world…I’d have thought of something better to say.” Nevertheless, when you need a conversation starter, here is a little nugget of information for you…the first tweet in history.

All-Star Squadron #3

Warning, Spoilers Ahead…

 Per Degaton has a hissy over the masked men running loose in the city. Degaton still thinks he’ll be victorious as he has captured the majority of the Justice Society along with “non-members” Wonder Woman and Robin.

Why exactly are Wonder Woman and Robin relegated to “non-member” status? Boo!

Wotan, Solomon Grundy, and Professor Zodiak are throwing down with the Shining Knight.  Sir Justin does an admirable job of holding his own.  

Wotan calls Solomon Grundy a “heap of rotted vegetation with delusions of grandeur”.  Harsh, dude.

Sir Justin refers to Solomon Grundy as a “grotesque distortion of life”. Is it pick on Solomon Grundy day?

Sir Justin and Danette escape the ship and are rescued by Winged Victory (Sir Justin’s Pegasus).  They head off to free the captured Justice Society.  Professor Zodiak and Wotan are in pursuit.

Plastic Man, Phantom Lady, Dr. Mid-Nite, the Atom, and Plastic Man launch an assault on Per Degaton’s ship.  Plastic Man transforms himself into a drill and bores through the ship! Cue big fight with Solomon Grundy and Per Degaton.  Plas is wiped out from drilling through the ship leaving the rest to battle the duo. The group does pretty well considering the difference in power levels.  Dr. Mid-Nite, Phantom Lady, and the Atom are basically hand to hand fighters. I can’t remember if the the Atom had his enhanced strength at this point.  Liberty Belle has enhanced strength and speed.  Solomon Grundy, on the other hand, can brawl with Superman.

“I gotta hand it to you, Belle, for a girl, you’re a great little fighter!” – Way to show your 1940s’ attitude, Atom!

Hawkman, Robotman, and Johnny Quick are fighting Per Degaton’s forces in the city.

“Holy cats!” – Still loving the cheesy catchphrases.

Wotan and Professor Zodiak defeat the Shining Knight and pursue a fleeing Danette.

Wotan blasts her into a vat of artificial lava.  Professor Zodiak recoils in horror: “What a horrible end for a woman!”  Wotan responds with “Such hypocrisy you mortals are guilty of.  As if a woman’s life were somehow more precious than a man’s! Or as if either were worth the merest...”   Wotan is unable to finish his statement as the island is self-destructing.  Degaton sends the duo back to the future.

The Justice Society, including the Spectre, escapes their captivity.  The Shining Knight and an unconscious Danette accompany the group.  

Per Degaton, in order to avoid an angry Spectre, retreats to the future. Running far away is the only sane response to a pissed-off Spectre.

Robotman, Hawkman, and Johnny Quick arrive to help in the fight against Solomon Grundy.  Solomon is transported to 1947 by Per Degaton.

The groups meets up with the Justice Society.  They inform the JSA of the plans to form the All-Star Squadron.   Atom states “Pretty snazzy name, huh, Superman?”  Superman responds with “As long as you’re careful how you abbreviate it.”  

Danette has a dizzy spell.  Sir Justin comments that “Tis amazing I found you alive at all, lass, protected by Wotan’s own spells from volcanic fires!” Cue foreshadowing.

The group are losing their memories of their encounter with Per Degaton due to time-travel shenanigans.

This was a nice three-part introduction storyline.  The team was formed and the groundwork was laid for future character arcs and romances.  The story established why Superman, Green Lantern, and Dr. Fate were unable to stop the attack on Pearl Harbor.  I recommend reading Secret Origins #26 to discover where other heroes were during Pearl Harbor.
