A SENKU x READER DRABBLE
Synopsis: Normally, you're perfectly happy to idle away at Senku's side as something of an assistant, helping wherever he might need you. It's not until a few hard-hitting comments by the campfire that you start to think you might be overcrowding your favourite scientist.
Requested by: A Lovely Anonymous Requester
Request: 'I am sorry I am distrubing you but do you open for request now? I apologize if Iam impolite but if yes, can I request drabble of senku x reader (dr.stone) where reader is a clingy person who follow Senku everywhere and do things Senku ask that are within her ability. Reader love language is physical touch though doesn't show it to Senku because afraid of annoying him. Basically , How do you think Senku will react if Reader suddenly doesn't cling to him anymore because afraid of annoying him.'
Age Rating: N/A
Warnings: Topics of insecurity and self-doubt
Genre: Fluff, Hurt/Comfort
There was no way to sugar coat it, or any more flattering way to splice it; you were, for better or for worse, clingy. You knew it - Senku knew it - everyone knew it. It wasn’t a secret you exactly tried to keep hidden. Mindful as you tried to be of others social energy and where it might not align with yours, you couldn’t help but find your days more enjoyable when you had those you cared for at your side to enjoy them with you. It wasn’t always romantic - you tended to cling to your friends, too, often finding yourself craving the company of some manner of companion over the entertainment of your own thoughts. Of course, that wasn’t to say it was entirely unromantic either. Once the spark of attraction was lit, you couldn’t help but crave the attention of the person who interested you most over that of anyone else. So, once you had finally realized just how much you had come to like Senku, you had begun to find it hard to keep yourself apart from him.
Very much contrary to yourself, Senku wasn’t a person for such sentiments. He had a goal in mind, and if he wanted to finish it in time to see it come to fruition he had a lot to get done. For better or for worse he was level-headed, practically minded, and extremely logical. If spending time with someone would take away from his goals, he wasn’t going to be inclined to do it nearly so often, enjoy their company or not.
Drawbacks as they may have had, the machinations of Senku’s mind were something you’d come to love about him. His over-logical, straightforward responses often triggering fondness in your chest where others may have faltered under his blunt-faced words. Respect his nature as you might, though, none of that stopped you from wanting to spend time with him. So, you resolved ever-simply to make yourself useful.
It wasn’t as though that was a particularly tedious goal for you to start. It had always been important to you to be useful, to help the people you cared for however you might be able to. After the world’s descent into stone it was more important now than ever to work together, anyway, so helping Senku rebuild what was lost hardly seemed to be any sort of burden.
Before long you’d earned yourself the honorary title of Senku’s loyal assistant. Though it was a name first given to you in jest by Gen, who’d opted to poke a little fun at you for your ever-obvious feelings for your mad scientist of a leader (and he had been chastised rather quickly by Senku for it) it hadn’t taken too many more days of you following around after Senku to help with whatever work he happened to find for himself for the nickname to catch on.
It had embarrassed you at first, a little, to be called out so bluntly for the way you followed Senku about, admittedly a bit like a lost puppy. But, behind the teasing words were kind smiles and supportive friends, and soon you’d settled into the moniker. Once you’d begun to take the jabs with teasing pride Senku’s disdain for them all but seemed to disappear, the joke becoming commonplace.
A loud voice pulled you from your reminiscence and a slight inclination of your head brought Yo into view, arms waving enthusiastically above his head as he beckoned you to join the group he sat with at the fireside.
“Yo! It’s [Name]! Rare to see you out of the lab. Senku finally pass out on his paperwork?” The bellowing laughter that came to follow would have told you Yo was drunk even without the wafting smell of stone-age alcohol that coated him like overapplied cologne, hitting you like a wall as you came closer. Still, rambunctious as he got, he wasn’t… bad, exactly. So, even as a bulky arm wrapped around your shoulders and pulled you into a sloppy, sideways hug, you just gave Yo an awkward smile.
“Oh, no, he just told me I should take a break. We’ve been working since lunch so I thought maybe I’d bring him someth--”
“Ahhh, that’s rough!” Yo’s sudden exclamation took you by surprise, especially as one dramatic arm (the one that wasn’t still holding you in a drunken embrace) raised to hold his brow, lips downturned in a deep frown, “No wonder you came to grab a drink, eh? You! Go get them a double.” Though you initially met Yo’s apparent sympathy with blank-eyed confusion, the solemn nods of the others around the fire had your brow slowly curving in concern. While the agreement of Yo’s men was questionable, even Magma and Mantle were nodding along as if witnessing some unspoken tragedy that you, despite being the star of, had yet to be informed about.
“Can’t say I blame him though. A man needs some space every now and again.” Magma’s shrug, heavy but dismissive as he threw a clean-gnawed bone into the fire, put together the missing pieces for you.
“Hey, don’t feel bad. Don’t get me wrong, Senku’s a good guy but he’s like. Weird, you know? Here, don’t beat yourself up.” Though Yo seemed to pick up on your shift in mood as your face fell, and you knew he was well intentioned as he pushed the drink he’d had one of his subordinates fetch you towards your face, but the acidic smell of alcohol against your nose burned like insult on top of injury, and as your mind swirled in new-found paranoias you found your feet moving, quickly untangling from Yo’s light grip as you found yourself needing to be anywhere else.
“Um, sorry I’m not really thirsty. I have something I need to take care of, so…” Polite as ever you tried not to trip over yourself as you made your exit, struggling to keep your voice even over the lump aching in your throat. Too distracted to catch the way Yo turned to chastise Magma, you found your thoughts all-encompassing, your walk back to the small hut that served as your sleeping quarters a blur of whirling emotion and the strained effort to hide it.
You had been trying, for a long time, to tell yourself that you weren’t a bother. There were others in the village who were stronger than you, smarter than you, more dexterous and more inventive. But, you had always told yourself that none of that mattered. Maybe you couldn’t be as intelligent and persistent as Senku and his unwavering spirit; maybe you couldn’t be as quick to learn and improvise as Chrome; maybe you couldn’t be as fast as Kohaku, as strong as Magma, as charismatic as Gen, but if you could just be useful, it didn’t matter. If you could just help everyone, anyone, in whatever way you could, you had told yourself that that would be enough. But, maybe you were a liar. Maybe all of that, all of those thoughts, were nothing more than an elaborate way to free yourself of the guilt of trying to steal all of Senku’s time away for yourself; of being deeply, whole-heartedly selfish. Were you even trying to help him, anyone else, at all? Or did it just benefit you?
It would be those thoughts that kept you paralyzed for the next week. Each temptation to find Senku, to check in on his progress or see if he might be in need of a hand, was met with the icy thought that he may very well prefer that you didn’t. Hesitation held a cold grip on your heart, squeezing when you pictured the confrontation. If you asked Senku if you were a bother, you knew he wouldn’t lie to you. While Senku’s honesty usually made you feel safe, right now you couldn’t help but admit that it scared you. And so, you found yourself spending your days shying away from the lab you’d spent the last several months in, time spent with the others keeping you sated and perhaps sane as they drove away the chattering demons of self-doubt. Living to keep the demons at bay led you into a pattern of monotony, empty-eyed and unenthused as you painted on a smile you knew wasn’t as convincing as you wanted it to be. Still, it was better than being a burden.
It was the final evening after your week of reclusion that you finally felt something other than cold emptiness and choking depression; hysterical terror. Though, this stint of horror was blessedly short lived.
When the end of your work days came you had, as of late, found yourself longing for the thoughtless bliss of sleep almost desperately. Shrugging free of your clothes as you walked into the mud and straw building you’d come to call home you’d drop into a bed of straw and wait for the darkness to come. It had become such a standard routine that, when it was broken, you thought yourself viable to have a heart attack. Stepping into a dark home and hanging the leather overcoat that kept you warm through the change of seasons and seeing movement in the dark would have been enough to set you on edge; the lighting of your bedside candle from across the room made you scream.
“Wh-- hey, it’s me! Calm down!” Standing at the opposite end of your hut, illuminated now in the flickering orange of candlelight, Senku had the audacity to look annoyed by your reaction to his break-in. As you stared at his familiar, flat expression you found your fear begin to ebb - only for it to flow back as your eyes caught the shadow cast on the wall. In the unsteady light of a tiny flame his hair swirled in angry shadows behind him, limbs overlong and twitching; Senku, and the version of him you’d been so afraid to face. It didn’t look like he was going to let you run anymore, either.
“What are you doing in my room?” Senku’s frown only dipped as you posed your question, eyes locking with yours with a stern hardness that told you he wasn’t here to play games with you.
“You’ve been avoiding me.” Seeing you open your mouth to protest Senku raised and hand and continued, not giving you the opportunity to defend yourself; he didn’t want to waste time with the argument, “You’ve spent approximately 10 hours each day in the science lab working on projects with me each month up until last week - when you stopped coming altogether. You also haven’t been to any of the places you normally go, which means you’re avoiding whoever might look for you there.” Senku’s eyes dared you to challenge him, crossed arms speaking of his rigidity. Still, with your shoddy plans and simple intentions laid so plainly bare, it was hard to find any genuine argument.
“Well?” His simple response in the face of your downtrodden guilt snapped your eyes back from the floor to his, the casual, brow-quirked expression on his face only surprising you further. He hardly seemed upset - just impatient, perhaps as his hands found his hips and he inclined his head slightly towards you, “What did I do?”
This time your shock seemed to surprise him, too. Still, you couldn’t help your wide-eyed stare as, once again, the pieces clicked into place. You’d fit in the ones Magma had given you before, but you hadn’t stopped for even a moment to consider if they were even a part of the right puzzle. So overwhelmed with self-doubt and anxiety, you hadn’t stopped to see if they added to the right picture. While you’d been busy drowning yourself in your own tears, Senku had been trying to figure out how he’d upset you.
“N-no, Senku, it wasn’t--”
“Seriously, don’t bullshit me. If you’re mad at me I can’t fix it if--”
“Senku.” It wasn’t often that you spoke so softly and so genuinely, old habits of smiling to appease and speaking to placate carrying over even in this new world. It took Senku off guard to hear you speak his name that way, your smile somehow both guilty and earnest as you finally crossed the room to stand closer to your friend.
“I mean it. You didn’t do anything.” As his eyes pushed you for explanation you found yourself becoming bashful, gaze escaping his as nervous hands began to play with grown out strands of your hair as if you'd find an excuse less embarrassing than the truth within their tresses, “I just got worried that I was bothering you so I decided to give you some space.”
Senku’s eyes, narrowed as his lips pursed to push out a small hum, told you that explanation wasn’t quite enough for him - he could tell there was more, and he wasn’t about to let you go with any unspoken turmoils. Not after he’d gone through all the effort of learning your ever-changing schedule to corner you just to address them.
“Yeah? Who told you that?” The way your shoulders stiffened at the question told Senku immediately that he’d hit the right nail, and rather directly. It made him pause, for just a moment, thinking about how you specifically must have felt being made to think of yourself as burdensome; he was quick to sigh off the dull ache it caused in his chest, shrugging to himself. He’d found you and cleared the issue, which he supposed was all that really mattered now.
“Yo and Magma said that maybe… I should give you… space…” Senku had finally been ready to let it go when you opted to answer. The way he looked at you as you spoke, though, took away what little steam you’d had starting the sentence. Mouth having cocked ever so slightly ajar as brows flattened and eyes focused in on you, Senku’s reaction to this information was obvious. It did little to ease your embarrassment when his words came out to echo what his face already spoke clearly.
“You took advice from Yo and Magma?” Despite himself Senku found a grin quirking his lips as your cheeks tinged pink, pouting over your light-hearted embarrassment at having your actions laid bare so logically. As you began to whine about his assessment, Senku found himself unable to hold back a laugh. He couldn’t deny that you were cute.
“Look.” The sudden serious shift to Senku’s tone took you off guard once more, pout-protruded lips parting as you snapped back to genuine attention, “You don’t bother me. If I needed more time to myself I’d just say that.” Though the casual way he scratched at his ear feigned ease, you knew he was trying to settle your nerves.
“Besides,” Senku’s grin turned sharper as his voice took on a teasing lilt, fingers raising to give your cheek a teasing pinch, “who’s going to test out all of our experiments if I don’t have my assistant with me, huh?” As often as others had referred to you as Senku’s assistant, he’d never admitted it himself; hearing the words from his mouth made your heart clench and you moved despite yourself as your arms came to wrap around Senku’s waist, pulling him in for the hug you’d been aching to give him for ages.
Much as Senku groaned a mild complaint about the overly-emotional contact he made no move to resist you, fighting only the smile that threatened to show his thoughts more honestly on his lips than he wanted, for the moment. Rather, he allowed you your moment, reciprocating by means of a somewhat stiff hand resting atop your head.
“If you’re worried about something just talk to me about it. That makes the most sense.” Even under the light chastisement you just smiled, nodding into the loose leathers of Senku’s clothes. You’d spent more than enough time to find comfort in his bluntness, knowing he had just as much told you not to be stupid next time as he had told you that he was there to support you, and he didn't want you hesitating to rely on him.
“Thanks, Senku.”
“Yeah.” A soft scratch to your hair made you hold tighter, and Senku was quick to take to surprise.
“You can let go of me now.”
“One more minute.”
“Eh?!”

Hello, Merry Christmas! 🎄🎉 I love your work, you are great. 🔥✨️
I would like to request a Senku x fem!reader. I thought it was cute that they go to a museum (maybe a date? whatever) Discuss the artifacts, make fun of an ugly wax figure, mimic portraits, maybe Senku corrects a science myth or something. They are having a good time. She takes pictures sometimes.
Have a great day! 😁🪐
-M.
hello M! thank you for your request (and your patience…this ones from christmas…)! i got super excited reading this one, it’s so cute!
One of Senku’s favorite places in the world were science museums.
He’d been visiting them since he was a kid with his father, something that became tradition over the years, with every visit further encouraging his love of and fascination with science. It was like stepping into a playground. His excitement and enthusiasm were boundless, and he always ended the visit with more questions and ideas mapped out in his head that inspired the following day’s experiments to follow up on them. The museums became a sort of sanctuary for him, as he was surrounded by nothing but the thing that he holds the most love for, getting lost in the dizzying amount of information and endless exhibitions.
He carried on the tradition with you, not being able to think of a more suitable way to show you his affection; taking you, one of his favorite people, to one of his favorite places in the world.
He’s taking you to his favorite museum today, one that he’s been to so many times that he knows everything it has to offer, from the events to the exhibitions. One of his favorite events is being hosted on top of everything else the museum has to offer, an annual tradition,, and so the time and date and location were all very purposeful.
He lets you be the one to drag him around. He doesn’t need a map, he knows the place like the back of his hand, but you still grab one to make sure no stone is left unturned, no corner unvisited.
You first drag him through hallways filled with ancient artifacts, from pottery to metal objects, encased behind glass panes and gleaming under bright white lights. The walls behind them convey lengthy paragraphs on each, with a picture or two to follow up or help visualize the setting from which the artifacts originated from. You and Senku leaned in close and whispered back and forth about each as you moved along the rows, bumping into each other’s side as you nudged at Senku to answer a question of yours, and him turning toward you to give you the clarification you sought. After your questions were all answered however, you managed to lose each other quite often as you browsed through the rooms and swerved through tall displays littered throughout, each of you getting caught up in your own curiosities, which led the two of you having to retrace your steps and dart your heads around to try to spot one another amidst the displays and crowds of people.
He usually leans in to give you additional information about the information on tablets, debunking common science myths. He tells you that Mount Everest technically isn’t the tallest mountain in the world and that the sun isn’t really yellow. They’re all pretty common misconceptions, which he’s quick to correct if the subject the two of you are reading about is related to it. He tells you that the tissue covering your veins makes your blood look blue, but it's always red, and that lightning can certainly strike a spot more than once, especially tall buildings.
The space exhibit is his favorite. You know because he tells you, but you don’t need Senku's extensive knowledge to come to that conclusion on your own with the way he’s so immersed in the videos, in the stars and planets floating around in the planetarium. It’s the one room where he’s mostly quiet, simply taking in the information, even if it’s already ingrained in his very DNA from how many times he’s seen the shows. He seemingly never tired of it, you observed with a smile as you watched him stare in awe at the projections, as if it was his first time sitting in that theater filled with constellations and planets, with that familiar narrator telling him facts he already knew. He’s a lot more eager to talk as you walk through the rest of the exhibit, telling you even more additional facts under his breath. But you still find he has moments of silence, possibly reflection, when he stares at space suits displayed behind glass and holograms of the astronauts who once donned them.
He attempts to fight back a teasing smile when the two of you find yourselves in a scientist exhibition, with wax figures of the greatest minds in history posing next to plaques with information or TV’s running related informational programs. He snickers at the particularly horrid ones, elbowing you gently and turning his chin up toward Albert Einstein and Madame Curie looking onward with serious expressions, which send the both of you into bouts of giggles, leaning into each other to try and contain your immature outbursts and commentary among yourselves. You start to draw attention from nearby visitors when Senku poses beside them, not being able to contain your laughter from how silly he looks.
Senku always loved the play spaces as a younger kid, but now he was older, and though he hadn’t outgrown his love for the activities, he unfortunately had outgrown the age limit set for who could participate in them. He recalls fondly the memories he made in those places when the two of you pass them by, telling you about the messes he made and how he got a bunch of kids hyped to help him. He’s still welcome at a couple of hands-on stations, however, and he’s just as enthusiastic as the younger children surrounding him, but he seems very knowledgeable in these little people’s eyes, and they watch him curiously as he tinkers meaningfully with the materials in front of him. He spots their gazes and smiles slightly, and performs the experiment with a dozen pairs of eyes on him from every angle. Oou’s and ahh’s and other impressed exclamations go around as you watch Senku help the kids perform the experiments themselves, patiently walking them through each step and answering all their questions as they eagerly crowd around him, mimicking his smile from further away.
Most of the time Senku isn’t posing for the camera, but you still manage to capture some nice photos with him in it. You step back to take a photo as he admires the sea creatures in the aquarium tunnel, a small smile on his face as his head is tilted upward and making direct eye contact with a turtle swimming above. You manage another one which he catches on to, with Senku looking over his shoulder mid explanation about something at the camera, as airplanes of different sizes decorated the background. He tells you to cut it out when he catches you, but he’s also a bit of a hypocrite, because when you ask him to hold your camera while you go explore something for yourself, he’s bringing it to his face and focusing the lenses on your awed expression.
He’s taken aback when you kiss his cheek suddenly as you file out of the museum into the night along with the remaining visitors, and he chuckles to himself when you tell him about the wonderful day you had and that you can’t wait for your next trip. Senku makes a mental note to research the events they have going on at his second favorite location for future reference.
Little would he know that over 3700 years later, his own exhibit would be open to the public, recollecting his life and achievements as the leading driving force behind humanity’s revival through his love of science that was fostered in similar museums.

. . . ⇢ ˗ˏˋ 𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 ࿐ྂ
Pairing: Senku Ishigami X afab!Reader
Synopsis: So, how did MC, an average student, get personally tutored by the genius scientist in school? In math lessons, nonetheless.
Word Count: 4,220
Tick... Tock... Tick... Tock...
You block out the white noise that encompasses the entirety of the classroom; the white noise being—in your vocabulary—your Math teacher, Mr. Ishikawa. You couldn't be bothered to listen to his discussion anymore, seeing that you've been so lost in thought for at most the initial 15 minutes of his class that you practically cannot catch up with the rest of the students. So why not spend the remaining hour doodling and watching as the clock hand goes by? And that, you did.
The middle-aged teacher had noticed your aloofness from the corner of his eyes. He knew that you weren't paying any attention to the lesson at hand, not to mention that you were in contrast to the sea of students who had their heads buried deep in their textbooks. Your [e/c] irises were blankly staring at the wall clock located at the front of the class, just above the board. If others were to observe, they would be convinced that you were paying attention to the mathematical equations scribbled on the chalkboard. In a nutshell, you stuck out like a sore thumb.
The man sighed, easing his headache by gently massaging his temple. The midterms were coming right up, and he feared that his students wouldn't have enough time to prepare and study for the test. To say that he's slightly concerned is an understatement; he's anxious for them. The majority of students had problems with the Math lessons this semester, and he couldn't blame them. Imagine having to memorize more than 10 formulas and being expected for to stay with you until you use it on exam day. And that's not all, you also have to familiarize yourself with the terms used and avoid confusing it with another.
He knew that his students would pay attention to the lesson and try to catch up as much as possible, but what he didn't expect was you be absentminded and have your head up in the clouds in his subject: Mathematics. Mr. Ishikawa never doubted your intelligence as a student; you are averaging and have no problems with Math, though a bit confused at times, but nothing that you couldn't get your head around. However, at a critical time like this, he can't help but reprimand your behavior later.
Ding... Ding... Ding... Dong...
Finally, the awaited hour at last. The school bell's chimes resonated around the whole campus, enveloping the students and faculty members alike with its gentle, relaxing tune. A sigh escaped your pink lips as you glanced at the time for the last time. 3:15 in the afternoon, meaning, the dreaded period has ended and you can finally go on to your merry way. Mr. Ishikawa stood up from his seat and faced the students, addressing his concerns about the upcoming exams. After, he had dismissed your class.
You immediately fixed your belongings inside your black shoulder bag—not that you have a lot to return inside since you zoned out from the last period—and stood up from your seat. Bringing the strap over your shoulder, you watched as your classmates headed out from the back door, leaving only a few, you included, inside. You were about to take a step towards the exit when a stern voice called you.
"Miss [L/n]."
You visibly flinched at the tone of his voice—serious and firm. It was the usual setting between student and teacher, although the way that it was delivered to you made you unsettled. It's like you've been caught red-handed by your parents, only this time, you didn't even know what you did wrong.
You whipped your head back to the older male at his table, dark blue eyes boring holes into your soul. You were tense but still decided to wear a convincing confused front, masking your anxiety effectively.
"Yes, sensei?"
"Please come here for a second. I need to address you about something."
The way that he motioned you over or the fact that he had his finger on his temple didn't look like it was going to be good news of some sort. You swallow a small lump in your throat as you saunter to where the teacher is. You surely didn't get into trouble, right?
"What it is you wanted to talk about, sensei?" You cautiously queried, becoming more anxious than you already were.
"Miss [L/n], I know that you're a hardworking student and your grades in Math aren't that bad. However," Mr. Ishikawa spared a glance at his student, observing your bodily cues. "—it seems that you weren't paying attention in class today. Is something the matter? I know that lessons this semester are quite difficult, but please be aware that midterms are approaching. I don't want your grades to be in danger, especially in my subject."
You pursed your lips at his words. You didn't hate him or his subject in any way. Although Math has given you quite the difficulty—no, wait, scratch that. It is literal hell—you still manage to bring your grades up even just a bit. You consider yourself as just average in the subject, not that smart to constantly have an achievement, nor dumb to fail. It's just so-so, enough to let you pass. However, it seems that your grades are suffering and on the verge of failing.
You weren't so sure what the cause might be, or if you were to blame in this situation. Nevertheless, the news is certainly not good for your ears to hear. You glanced at the oakwood floor for a while, before returning your attention to the teacher.
"I'm sorry, sensei. There's nothing wrong. I just feel overwhelmed with the subject that I tend to space out," giving a sincere bow, you explained your reasoning.
Mr. Ishikawa's calculating gaze didn't leave you for a bit, making you shuffle slightly in your spot. He then let out an exasperated sigh, his hand waving dismissively. "No matter, it doesn't change the fact about your grades and midterms. If things were to continue like this, you'd surely fail my subject. I'd recommend that you have someone to tutor you in the meantime, in that way, you won't fail."
The male before you gave you a knowing look. You weren't quite fond of having a tutor, to say the least, especially when if it's someone you don't know. But, what other options do you have? It's not like you want to fail in your second year of high school. So with a squeamish heart, you spoke, "...Alright."
"Great. I'm sure that Mister Ishigami won't mind tutoring you," with that said, Mr. Ishikawa flashed you a smile as he fixed his books.
Pink flushed across your cheeks at the mention of the student. Sure, you and the leek-haired genius were friends for like, years. But just pondering about the thought of him tutoring you sent you into overdrive. You secretly had a crush on the male since but didn't have enough courage to confess the feelings. Just acting normal was tough when every time, you're being assaulted by your hormones to do something intimate to him. So spending time with him tutoring you was something you haven't imagined, even in your wildest dreams.
The sudden screech of metal against the wooden floor broke you out of your trance. Facing the teacher once again, he patted you on the shoulder and stepped out of his seat, pushing the chair further into the work desk.
"I'll be leaving now. Be careful on your way home, Miss [L/n]. And please don't forget our discussion, alright?"
You bowed your head. "Yes, sensei."
"Good," a smile etched on his aged face.
Your gaze trailed upon Mr. Ishikawa's back as he walked out the front door, probably heading back to the faculty room. You let your eyes linger on the closed sliding door, before releasing a huff of annoyance. Gripping your bag strap, you trudged over the aperture and exited the classroom.
The hallway was seemingly empty, considering that your earlier discussion took more than five minutes. Your [e/c] eyes observed the surroundings as you walked—cream-colored walls, wooden oak floorboards, metal plaque located above each room to indicate the room name, and sliding doors with windows. You muttered in each room as you passed by them, boredom lacing in your tone.
"Class 2-2, class 2-3, literature club, library..." An exasperated sigh escaped your lips after, noticing that there was no more classroom by the end of the hall.
Your feet immediately turned a swift left into another hallway, only this time, you were met with a familiar person. You recognized the skinny young man with his iconic anti-gravity leek hair with two locks that drape over his face. He had his hands in his pockets while staring at the floorboard, seemingly lost in thought—you noted. Yet, despite him not noticing you, just the sight of the teenager made your face flush.
Eventually, the student turned his gaze to the front, landing on nothing else but you. The surprise was written over his expression, but he nevertheless smirked at the sight of his best friend. "Well, isn't this a surprise? I was 10 billion percent sure that you're on your way home right now."
You playfully rolled your eyes at him, stopping just a meter from your best friend. "Well, apparently, your calculations were off since I'm here right now."
"Let me guess, waiting for me?" the male said, placing his hand on his chin as if thinking. Though the smirk on his face never left, making your blush redden.
"Sorry, but I wasn't boy genius," you let out a scoff, crossing your arms as you tried to cool down your cheeks. "I would be delighted if that's the case since you're nowhere to be seen during the last period. Speaking of which, where were you during Math?"
"Since the school's Science competition is nearing, every teacher gave us, the Science club, permission to spend the last period preparing for the competition," Senku explained, placing his hands on his hips as he did so. "So being the club president, I was at our club room for the hour."
You nodded in understanding. But soon, your lips contorted into a pout, eyebrows creasing to accentuate your hidden indignation. "How nice. I wish I could escape the Math period as well."
"Silly," without warning, Senku flicked your forehead which earned him a surprised yelp. "You know that you can't just skip the subject. So tell me, what makes you upset this time?"
Despite Senku's remarks and occasional forehead flicking, you knew that he was genuinely concerned about you, especially your studies. Sure, he would appear arrogant and overbearing, often annoying you about your oh-so-average grades, but there isn't just a moment when he didn't help you improve. Not to mention that he's so observant about you that he can point out your cues and even know what you're feeling at the moment. That's why you admire the boy so much.
A frown replaced your pouting lips at his words, slumping your shoulder a bit. "I was held back to discuss something with Ishikawa-sensei."
"And that is?" he quirked a brow, prodding you to explain further.
"Ishikawa-sensei told me about my grades, and apparently, it's suffering. So for me to pass the upcoming tests, he advised that I should get someone to tutor me in the meantime," an annoyed sigh escaped your lips after that statement.
"If that's your concern then you don't have to worry about it too much. Overthinking might lead to losing more brain cells."
"Hey!" you shouted at him, offended by his sarcastic remarks.
"No need to shout at me, [Name]. Geez! I was only joking," he pulled up his hands in surrender. "Besides, you already have me. Who else helps you study, silly?"
Your [e/c] hues stared at the male's face, still not quite convinced. A pout graced your lips while your cheeks were red in embarrassment. Eyebrows still creased up, indicating your agitation. Senku didn't bother to move an inch under your heated stare. The boy knew all too well about your tendencies and antics, and this one of them.
The moment lasted for another minute when Senku broke your trance with his iconic smirk. This made you blink in surprise as realization fell on you; you'd been staring at your best friend's devilishly attractive features for too long. You instantly flared at this, moving your head back while averting your gaze somewhere but him.
God, couldn't you be a little more cautious around him? You're ogling him in front of his face! Isn't that super embarrassing? Whatever excuse your head came up with, you couldn't justify your earlier action by any means. So instead of speaking, you decided to remain silent until he spoke first. Damn, your teenage hormones.
"What? Too embarrassed to have me as your tutor?" Senku mused. Despite you being unable to see his face, just hearing the teasing tone of his voice is enough to know that a smirk was still on his face.
You were close to snapping back at him, but you held your tongue back at the realization. It dawned on you a moment after his claim that he was volunteering to tutor you in Math. You were beyond baffled. Sure, the two of you occasionally spend time reviewing and studying, but that was way too long ago. Considering that he's always busy in his club and studies, you concluded that you should just leave him be—not bothering to ask him to help you study.
"Wai—w-what?" you whipped your head back at him, face covered in a red hue.
Senku just sighed. "You told me about your grade problem, right? So to help you study, I'll be tutoring you starting today."
Your eyes widened at his claim. Surely, your mind isn't just making up the scenario, right? Admittedly, due to your annoying hormones, you once imagined being tutored by this leek genius at school in private. And not only that, but your dirty mind also added another scenario following that. But we'll never speak of it any further.
"Can't it be tomorrow?" you whined, pleading him with your puppy eyes to at least let him save you from further embarrassment. Who might know? Your hormones might initiate something you wouldn't want to happen.
"No, the earlier, the better," he retorted, grabbing your hand and dragged you inside an empty, unused classroom. "You will improve quickly this way, I'm 10 billion percent certain."
You just swallowed a lump in your throat as he led the way, nervous sweat rolling down from your forehead as your heart sped up. Your head was swirling with dirty thoughts and different scenarios. Once the two of you entered the room, you shook your head, ridding yourself of those thoughts, and tried to focus on the situation at hand.
Your eyes observed the classroom—even though it was unused, it wasn't overall bad. The room had a total of 20 desks with five chairs in each row, a rather small chalkboard on the front, a shelf that stores personal belongings at the back, and a storage cabinet at the farthest corner. You sat on an empty chair in the front row as you were instructed to. Taking out a notebook, the Math textbook, and a pen, you then set down your belongings on the table while placing the bag on the ground.
A frown made unto your face at the idea. Sure, you wanted help with your current problem, but you aren't that obliged to start the tutoring session right away. You thought that maybe you could have a day or two without worrying about your brain exploding from information overload. Though it seems that Lady Luck has long abandoned you.
A comfortable silence settled between you two. Senku scanned the vicinity to find—what you guessed as—chalks while you were watching him. You hadn't noticed it earlier, but now you knew that the male wasn't wearing the usual uniform, nor his iconic lab coat.
"Why aren't you in your uniform, Senku?" you asked, trying to spark up a casual conversation before getting down to studying.
"We made a miscalculation with the project, and then one thing leads to another, then kaboom—" the leek-haired replied, rummaging through the storage cabinet and found the item he's looking for. "—We're all covered in dust that's why I decided to change."
"Oh."
"Anyways, let's start," Senku announced as he made his way to the front. "I'm guessing that the lesson is still about 'Estimation of Parameters', right?"
You nodded in reply, opening the textbook to what you assumed was the last lesson discussed. "Ishikawa-sensei discussed 'Calculating the Confidence Interval', I think. I wasn't listening."
Your best friend let out a disapproving sigh. "No wonder you need a tutor."
"Eh, not my fault that Math's scummy and difficult to understand," you scoffed, rolling your eyes at him.
"No, it isn't. You're just not paying attention during lessons," he deadpanned.
"No. And yes, I'm paying attention. Why do I even pass the exams if I wasn't?" you quipped back.
"Who knows? Maybe it's just your abundant amount of sheer luck," the male shrugged before facing the board. "Anyway, I don't have even a millimeter of interest arguing with you. So please listen to me as I review the basics of this unit. We don't want you to fail now, do we?"
The deliberate side glance Senku gave you made you huff in annoyance. You were about to resort to another snappy remark earlier if it wasn't for his immediate interruption. You two knew all too well that once either of you started something, it wouldn't be the end of it. So instead of a peaceful study session, it might've ended up in a full-blown squabble between you two. Slumping deep in your seat, you watched as Senku scribbled formulas and definitions on the board with a blank look on your face.
Senku started to re-discuss the lesson shortly after, with you trying to catch up with his explanation and take some notes as he continued. The male would often pause or slow down his speech as he waited for you to comprehend the lecture. He would also approach you and inspect your progress, checking out any errors that you've made and aid you with some tips for the solution. At first, it didn't seem so bad, until you came to a certain point where your brain could not grasp the new information anymore.
It didn't take you an hour to zone out from the seemingly long lecture. The fact that the young scientist was busy writing down the next sample problem gave you the spare time to take a trip to fantasy land. The scraping of the white chalk against the wooden board was the only sound that you could hear.
"First, identify the variables before substituting the formula. It's crucial to know which is the mean, standard deviation, and the sample size," the teenage male instructed, writing down the solutions with his left hand resting on his hip.
You began to tune out his voice by this point, boredom was visible on your blank [e/c] irises that were staring downward. You propped up against your right elbow on the table, resting your cheek on the base of your palm. Holding up the pen in your left hand, you let your thumb graze the tip before pushing it down.
Click! Click! Click!
Senku turned around at the soft sound that distracted him, his crimson hues landing upon the female he was tutoring. He noticed that you've let out a disinterested sigh, continuing your small ministration. Senku's eyebrow twitched a bit, silently face-palming—you will surely be the end of him.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
Footsteps echoed inside the room as a certain male trudged over to where his best friend sat. Once he's in front of your desk, he gently—but still making sure to produce enough sound to alert the girl—slammed his right hand on the wooden table while the other made its way under your chin. Placing his thumb below your parted lips and folded index finger below your chin, he slowly lifts your head, forcing you to make eye contact with his mesmerizing ruby jewels.
Your cheeks heated up at the unexpected intimate gestures; your eyes were wide as saucers as you willingly stared at Senku, your soft lips were parted out of shock, your heart racing inside of your chest, while your brain could not comprehend the situation at hand. Senku's face was just a few inches from yours, making it accessible for you to observe his flawless features; the stray locks of greenish-white hair that gently draped over his face as his eyebrows were scrunched up in a frown, crimson orbs contained disappointment and concern. You could've sworn that you weren't even breathing at this point due to the unexpected turn of events.
"[Name]..." he started, voice gentle as he chided you. "How can you pass the upcoming exam if you don't pay attention to me?"
You could've sworn that your brain interpreted that differently. Surely, he only meant about him explaining the lesson, right? But then why did the red hue across your cheeks darken? And most importantly, when did he start to sound so concerned about you? If you could remember correctly, never did he ever do this kind of thing to you. Like ever. So why the change? Honestly, your mind was brewing a lot of questions that you're pretty sure wouldn't get answered at all.
The two of you stared at each other's eyes for another minute before you broke the interaction by shyly averting your gaze away. You pursed your quivering lips, the sound of your heartbeat ringing in your ears. Senku disregarded your initial reaction and decided to pull back. He isn't an idiot; he knew that you were a bit uncomfortable and flustered at his action.
"[Name], you need to pay attention when I'm teaching. Or else you won't pass the midterms," the male sighed, pulling a nearby chair and setting it beside the girl, sitting on it after. "Maybe it's better if I teach you this way."
However, you didn't respond to his remark, feeling your face flush red at this proximity. Senku resumed tutoring you—his whole attention on you and your notes which you found embarrassing. You didn't hate this setup, however, it made it difficult for you to focus on the lecture when your [e/c] hues kept stealing glances at your crush.
An hour later, the young genius eventually ended the session. Both of you prepared to go home—you fixed your things while Senku erased the writings on the board. After that, the two of you exited the room and walked in a comfortable silence through the halls. Your [e/c] hues glanced outside the window, witnessing the sun descending behind the horizon. The palette of orange, yellow, pink, and violet decorated the evening sky, providing you a sense of warmth and serenity. Your mind wandered back to earlier events, a slight scarlet hue spread across your warm cheeks.
Letting out a contented sigh, you gaze back on the front. By this time, you've noticed that you and your best friend were out of the campus and heading home. Once more, you stole a glance at the male beside you. Senku was facing forward, his ruby orbs intently locked on the path both of you were heading. The way that the yellowish-orange rays adorned his features gave off a gentle glow. You didn't notice a small smile tugging at the corners of your lips at this sight.
"Well, this is home," you chirped once the two of you arrived at your street.
Senku halted at your announcement, his eyes landing on your petite back. You stayed standing for a moment before turning around to the male and stepping closer into his personal space. Senku closely watched you as you leaned in, pressing your soft lips against his pale cheeks. It happened so quickly that when the male finally registered the occurrence, you were already on your heel and ran away from him. His cheeks bloomed to a shade of scarlet at your bold gesture. Surely, he wasn't expecting this interaction to happen.
A smile adorned his handsome features, soft crimson hues staring at your faraway silhouette. "Well, this is exhilarating."

TickleTober Day #18: Jell-O Brain
SenGen (Dr. Stone)
~~~
Gen was never up before Senku. While his scientist boyfriend loved to make use of every drop of sunlight, the mentalist preferred nighttime, when the world was quiet and he could focus on honing his magician skills and learning about people through articles and the like without interruption.
But today, he absolutely had to be awake to witness the fruits of his labor.
Hiding in a darkened corner of the living room, Gen watched as Senku got up at the ass crack of dawn per usual, plodded only mildly sleepily into the kitchen, and reached for the handle of the fridge. He didn’t look twice at the hidden camera Gen had set up on the counter behind him (just in case he couldn’t crawl out of bed in time!). It was one of two; the other was in the fridge, to capture his facial reaction to what lay in wait.
Senku pulled open the door and – Gen knew, as he’d placed them there – was met face-to-face with a bright pink Jell-O brain on a platter, along with a few jellied eyeballs and gummy body parts he’d found at the store. (Hey, he couldn’t be expected to do it all.)
“What the—?!” Senku cried, stumbling back into the countertop in shock more than fear, blinking as the fridge door swung closed.
Gen clamped both hands over his mouth to keep from bursting into laughter and ruining everything. Senku took a moment to collect himself, then pulled the fridge open again, staring at the concoction inside before turning around and looking about the apartment, bewildered.
Then the scientist found the camera on the countertop, and everything clicked.
“Gen!” he shouted into the quiet morning, and the mentalist bit his lip to keep his giggles at bay.
It did no good. Mere seconds later, Senku’s eyes met his in the dark, and he surged forward, a wicked smirk on his lips.
“Eeeep!” Gen squealed, shooting to his feet and attempting to dart away, but he’d quite literally backed himself into a corner. He hadn’t thought this part through very much, mostly because he didn’t mind whatever Senku would want to do to him in retaliation.
The scientist was quick to wrestle him onto the couch, fingers deep in his ribs and belly as he growled, “Thought you’d make a fool of me, eh?”
“Nohohohohohoho!” Gen shrieked with giggles, kicking his legs uselessly as he squirmed on the soft cushions. “It wahahahahahas only ehehehehehever for me, I swehehehehehehear! It wasn’t gohohoing onlihihihihihine!”
“How considerate of you.” Senku smirked, taking a seat on his hips to keep him even more still as he let his fingers fly across his partner’s prone torso relentlessly. “Just for that, I think I’ll be nice and not go for your worst spot.”
“Eheheheheheheek! Thahahahahahahank you!”
“Right away, that is.”
This writing request comes from my friend @gamemasterofscratch who requested Dr. Baggs being comforted as he's always so stressed and busy. I decided to try my hand at writing in third person for the first time in a while and chose the Reader-Insert character from the Bad Sansuary challenge I wrote, "Have Some Empathy, Dear." (I hope you like it, even if it isn't how I usually write!)
Dr. Baggs belongs to @/megalommi
CW: Mind control against an unwilling person. Nothing explicit happens though.
Doctor's Orders
Dr. Baggs & Female!OC
Word Count: 3,397
Careful...this next part was especially sensitive.
His phalanges trembled ever so slightly as he started to pour the contents of one beaker into another one. He only needed a drop, any more would ruin the experiment and mean the last twelve hours of work had been wasted.
He had taken the necessary precautions of course, just like he always did, even if his bones weren't as frail as many other's bodies were. He had thick black rubber gloves on that covered his entire forearms, a white lab coat that was specially treated to be fireproof, and he was even wearing safety goggles in case there was an explosion.
He narrowed his eye sockets as he scrutinized the bright pink liquid that he was trying to add to another beaker that contained an ashy powder. There was no guarantee that replicating it was even possible. He still had to try though. It would change everything if he could successfully make a synthetic version of that peculiar substance that humans produced naturally. There was no limit to how useful their own version of Determination could be.
Why, he would never have to worry so much about monsters losing hope and falling down. The Guard could have stronger soldiers that could evenly match the most competent human ones, not they weren't already capable in combat that is. He could even break the barrier and reclaim the surface for Monsterkind if he so chose. Not that he was sure that was even feasible in the first place.
A drop of the pink liquid landed on the small pile of ash and...nothing...
He held his breath and studied the beaker closely for several long minutes. When still nothing happened, he finally caved and added another tiny drop, just hoping that it was a fluke. He couldn't have messed something up, he just couldn't have!
A small puff of smoke curled up from the ashes, flooding his nasal cavity with an acrid stench that forced him to take a few steps away from his desk.
He clenched his fists, the rubber material of his gloves crying out in protest, and grit his teeth so harshly that he felt a small jolt of pain in the back of his skull.
wonderful job, sans... you've failed again...
As soon as the thought entered his skull, he frowned and tore off the goggles. He hadn't gone by that name in years, so why had it returned to him at a time like this?!
With a huff, he threw the eye wear at the far wall. The action wasn't nearly enough to placate his growing frustration and with a growl, he turned his attention to the desk. He swept everything to the floor and pounded a clenched fist onto the metal surface, hardly registering the pain from doing so.
Now he'd made a mess of his work area that he'd have to thoroughly clean up. It was a pain to get Monster dust off of anything, let alone that synthesized mixture his assistant had invented. The only good side was that this room had been constructed from easily sterilized materials.
He was so tired.
Yet no matter how hard he had tried to find a remedy in the past, he couldn't sleep. While having more time to dedicate to his work was helpful, it was also detrimental for his health to constantly be burning the candle at both ends.
Dr. Alphys had called him a workaholic once and he'd laughed. She was right though. He couldn't leave well enough alone or stop working for a moment, lest he fall behind some unseen competitor.
He took a few deep breaths and counted backwards from ten. It was such a simple technique but humans certainly knew what they were talking about when it came to psychology. Now if only they had information in their books on how to counteract magical insomnia...
Rubbing small circles over his sphenoid bone, or where his temples would approximately be if he had flesh, he did his best to ease the tension and stress that had built up inside his soul. His frontal lobe felt sensitive too, like he was about to get a migraine, which he really didn't want to deal with right now.
Something set his instincts on high alert. It was a soft sound, like someone had scuffed their foot against the tiled floor when they'd taken a step.
His skull whipped in the direction of the intruder.
His eye sockets widened when he realized they weren't a Monster at all, but a Human. One he'd never seen before either, which was impossible, what with all the surveillance systems scattered around the Underground that he personally oversaw.
They appeared to be a woman with shoulder length dark hair that had loose ringlets at the ends. She had a lighter complexion compared to some humans he'd interacted with and striking eyes that seemed like a mix of green and blue. She was dressed causally in a simple striped cardigan and a pair of black jeans. Interestingly, she also seemed to have some sort of thin plating poking out from her clothes that kind of resembled armour.
She was also taller than him, by at least six or seven inches. Granted, most people were taller than he was, but it was another factor he found concerning about her.
The weird thing was that she was just watching him. All other humans had at least tried to attack him or flee on sight. So why wasn't she?
Forcing himself to relax, he let his arms hang loosely at his sides in an attempt to appear non-threatening for the moment. "can i help you?" he asked, his clear baritone voice easily carrying across the room to her.
She shook her head, although he didn't fail to notice the glimmer of curiosity in her eyes. He could also tell that she was a little nervous, although she was trying to seem relaxed like he was. Her shoulders were rather stiff and with the way her feet were spaced apart, he could tell she was readying herself to flee if he made any sudden movements.
"I was about to ask you that same question," she responded. She let out a bit of an awkward chuckle but made no moves to approach him.
He shook his skull. "i don't need any help you think you can provide, human." He didn't really mean to sound hostile but he couldn't help it.
She seemed completely unfazed though. "That's okay then."
"who are you?" he asked.
She got a strange look on her face and the corners of her lips quirked up slightly. "Well, I have a lot of names, but you can call me...Minty."
He could only look at her blankly. Someone was messing with him, surely. Where had this odd human even come from? She hadn't popped out of nowhere, right? He needed to buy some time and maybe get an idea of what was happening.
Folding his arms behind his back, he drew himself up to his full height and briefly regarded the woman in front of him. "my name is dr. baggs and if you aren't interested in a fight, i have some questions for you..."
She smiled in a more genuine way which was slightly reassuring. "Of course, so long as you let me ask a few of my own."
Baggs nodded and gestured to a rolling chair next to another desk. "feel free to sit down and make yourself comfortable." When the human did so, he pulled another chair over and sat down, although he was careful to stay just out of her reach.
"how did you sneak past all the cameras and get into my lab?" he asked.
She laced her fingers together in her lap and fiddled with her fingernails. Her posture still seemed tense but she appeared calm at the moment.
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you," she said with a slight chuckle.
He raised a bonebrow suspiciously. "try me, i've seen a lot of things that many would consider unbelievable."
She seemed concerned and her eyebrows furrowed as she considered it. After a moment, she made up her mind and looked up at him again.
"Alright, if you say so. The truth is that I'm not from this world and...a friend dropped me off here."
He understood why she didn't think he'd believe her. In the past he'd theorized about the existence of alternate timelines or even a multiverse, however it hadn't been feasible to explore such theories. He still didn't have the ability to properly do so and even if he did, it could prove dangerous to his own timeline. Who knew what entities existed beyond the veil of reality?
He tapped his clavicle with a phalanx in a thoughtful way. "i see...then why are you here? what do you want from me?" he asked carefully.
She opened her mouth to answer but shut it again with a frown. After a couple seconds of contemplation, she tried again.
"I'm here because of you..."
"why is that?"
She took a deep breath and made eye contact with him. "I can sense how stressed you are and...how your soul is crying out in pain," she stated.
Baggs was a little surprised at how frank she was being right now. Still, he couldn't help but remain on edge. He knew how dangerous humans could be, even without magic, but he was a bit curious how she could sense his emotions.
"how do you know this?"
She pursed her lips as she tried to figure out the best way to answer his question. "It's a little complicated to explain but I've always had a talent for reading how people are feeling. I wouldn't exactly call it magic but it has similarities."
He wasn't sure what to think about how vague her answer was, but he didn't like this situation at all. She was pretending to act casual but he could tell that she was just as, if not more, on edge than he was. Yet she had been polite and actually had tried to relieve some of the tension between them. There was one thing that wasn't sitting well with him though and that was the fact that she seemed to want something from him.
Her gaze shifted from him and towards the discarded experiment on the floor. "I'm guessing whatever happened is why you're so stressed right now, huh?"
"you would be correct."
"Did you want to tell me about it?"
When he didn't answer immediately, she glanced back over at him and tilted her head in a questioning way.
"no, i wouldn't tell anyone, let alone you."
She didn't react to his harsh tone and simply nodded in an understanding way. "That's fine, we don't need to go into details. I can see you didn't get the results you wanted though. How many times have you tried to do this?" Her tone of voice was soft and she seemed to be choosing her words carefully so as to not upset him.
Baggs sighed and shifted in his chair uncomfortably. "nine times now," he muttered under his breath.
She inhaled sharply and he could feel that she was studying him. "I don't think I would've tried again after failing three times. It's impressive how persistent you are, at least in my opinion anyways," she remarked.
She asked a few more casual questions about various topics and he responded in kind. However, the longer the conversation went on, the more uneasy he began to feel. It was like she was trying to get him to feel more comfortable around her. The whole situation felt familiar and he knew why.
It was something he'd often done in the past.
If she was planning to do something, getting him to feel more at ease was the perfect first step.
He hated it.
Before she could ask another question, he interjected with one of his own. "i might be wrong here, but you have experience as a therapist, don't you?" He'd kept his tone even and leaned forward while speaking to express interest in what her answer would be.
She seemed surprised but soon smiled warmly at him. "Yes, I-"
No sooner had she responded did Baggs do what he should've done from the beginning. His magenta right eyelight expanded until it filled his entire socket and the pink swirled with blue to create a hypnotizing array that couldn't be ignored.
She fell easily under his control, just like everyone else before her, but in the split second it took to do so, she seemed to realize what he was doing. She had a look of shock but there was also a strange glint in her teal eyes. She lunged for him and while he tried to move away, her hand closed around his left forearm in a vice grip.
His mind was suddenly flooded with an overwhelming sense of compassion and empathy. However, the feelings weren't his own and for a moment, he was paralyzed from the shock.
He was stronger though.
A simple thought was all it took for the feelings to fade.
Baggs leaned his skull back against the chair and let out a heavy sigh. He'd never had anyone react like that before. Violence sure, but never using...Intent. It didn't make any sense...
He looked down at her, half sprawled on the ground where she'd collapsed and half sitting up almost leaning on top of him, all the while she was still clutching onto his arm. She was stronger than he'd first assumed and he was lucky she hadn't had a chance to go for the kill. But...that wasn't what she'd even tried to do in the first place...
why didn't you follow through and attack me? he asked, using his own thoughts to communicate.
Her expression remained passive and her body didn't move at all, meaning she was still completely under his control. He wanted an answer though and used his magic to gently prob into her mind.
"...I only wanted to help you," was her silent response.
how does any of that help? he pressed further.
"I could feel how much you were hurting. I want to help you with shouldering it, if you'll let me..."
how is trying to influence my mind and emotional state supposed to help?
"I wasn't trying to control you... You didn't believe that I truly wanted to help earlier...so I had to show you."
Baggs narrowed his eye sockets suspiciously. He knew she was telling the truth as no one could lie to him when under his direct control. However, he was a bit intrigued as to what her goal had been.
what else would you do to help me? he asked.
"..." Her thoughts were silent, although he could sense that she was struggling to come up with an answer. "...Anything you allow me to. Although earlier I was thinking of trying to comfort you if you don't mind that," she finally answered.
He decided to give her a chance and relaxed the hold his magic had on her mind. He didn't release her just yet though.
She was still for a moment before she let go of his forearm and sat up properly on the floor. Her eyes never left his and she remained docile, not making any sudden movements.
"May I hug you?" she asked in a soft whisper.
"you may."
She dragged herself to her feet and shuffled towards him. Her movements were slow and unsteady, likely from the effects of the hypnosis, but she managed to stiffly wrap him in a hug.
Baggs let her hold onto him for a couple of minutes before gently pushing her arms away. It felt rather odd allowing a stranger to touch him like that but it wasn't entirely unpleasant either.
Her eyebrows were slightly furrowed with concern and she tilted her head. "I can sense that you're still tense. Would you like it if I tried something different?"
He gave her a curious look. "what else can you do?"
"Well, I know how to use magic to absorb negative feelings."
"i know most humans are incapable of using magic, so could you explain your magic and who taught you how to use it?" he asked.
She nodded and sat down on the ground again, although she crossed her legs this time so she could be more comfortable. "I've always been good at empathizing with people but I can do two things with my magic. I can transfer my own positive emotions to someone else by touching them or I can replace their negative emotions with my own positive ones, absorbing them into my own soul."
She paused for a moment and, sensing that she wasn't willing to reveal who had taught her, Baggs focused his magic again to probe her into telling him.
"His name is Nightmare and...he was also the one who brought me here..." she whispered.
Baggs felt a wave of annoyance flicker over him at the mention of the god of negativity. They'd only met in passing before and it hadn't been a pleasant one.
"Are you okay? I can try comforting you again..." She asked quietly, having apparently sensed his change in demeanor.
He shook his skull and sighed. "no. tell me why he sent you."
Her passive expression faltered and her eyebrows knit together with concern. Still, she was powerless to refuse a direct command in this state.
"Nightmare can sense your negative emotions and he's become very interested in your work," she muttered. "However, I'm not here to convince you to make any deals... I just want to help you."
He knew she was telling the truth and yet he couldn't shake the feeling that Nightmare was using this situation in an attempt to establish good relations. It didn't sit well with him at all.
Baggs fully released his hold on her soul and mind, his right eyelight returning to its usual size and magenta colour as he did so. He could take back the control at anytime and she wouldn't even be able to notice if he did, but he didn't tell her that.
She inhaled sharply and her eyes flicked around the room before settling on him again. As she did so, her body jerked backwards as if to instinctively get away from him but she stopped herself. It was incredibly apparent to any outside observers that she was struggling to remain calm and not freak out, which was commendable.
Baggs stood up and offered her one of his hands to help her stand up as well. "i should apologize for being such a poor host. would you like something to drink?" he inquired.
She grimaced and shook her head but still accepted his help. "Please don't take this the wrong way, but I don't trust you after...that." She looked away from him and dusted her clothing off.
"i understand your concern, but i have no intentions of harming you." He smiled and tried to change the subject with a different question. "may i ask how you came into nightmare's service? you don't seem like the type someone like him would select for his...work."
She smiled while recalling the memory before answering. "You're right, I actually met and befriended his henchmen first. He saw fit to rescue me when my own world collapsed."
He raised his bonebrows in surprise. "I'm amazed you're still in one piece," he remarked dryly.
She chuckled and waved him off. "Well, I have a few more scars now compared to before, but those are mostly from learning self-defense. I'm not deployed for the usual missions so I haven't had to kill anyone yet."
"what missions are you usually deployed on then?"
"I am tasked with the missions that require more tact than what Nightmare himself is able to perform."
It seemed he'd been right from the beginning.
Neither of them said anything for several long seconds. Finally, she put her hand on his shoulder and gave him a gentle smile.
"Is there anything else I can do to help you? I don't know about you but I'd like to at least end this meeting on a pleasant note," Minty commented.
Baggs nodded slightly. "i suppose i can afford to take a break for a little while..." he hummed.
of ocean waves and cheek kisses
episode 11 of season 3 had me feeling some sort of way
It’s nighttime.
Clouds scatter throughout the sky and the waters of the Sapphire Cave sway ever so slowly, reflecting the slight glow of the moon.
Between the sounds of gentle waves and ambient wildlife is Soyuz’s sleepy snoring, Suika’s soft breathing, and Gen’s occasional rustling underneath his blanket.
All your companions have found sleep, all except one.
His back is turned towards you, frame leaned slightly forward towards the cave’s entrance. Though Senku is known to have all the answers, navigating through all the steps required to bring back humanity with scientific ease, his presence by the ocean’s waves whispers a different tale. The weight of his responsibilities seems to be that much more pronounced tonight, highlighted by the faint illumination of the moonlight and the just barely audible breath of a sigh that escapes his downturned lips.
This Senku is one that not many people have witnessed before, and understandably so.
Yet after today’s delivery of golden dust and the discovery of just how much platinum Byakuya had been able to collect for his son, you’re not exactly surprised to see him in such a contemplative and vulnerable state.
But at the same time, you definitely are not deluded enough to think that he is so lost in his thoughts to be unaware of your curiously observing presence. Senku always has a hyperawareness of his surroundings, scientific-brain constantly analyzing the world, and tonight is no different.
While he rarely is one to admit it aloud, as his partner, you know just how much he trusts you and feels comfortable in your company. And as his partner, you have also come to learn what he needs, even without any sort of prompting.
Gingerly, you rise up from your makeshift bed, blankets pooling to the cave floor in a discarded pile as you slowly make your way over to the entrance overlooking the ocean. You try to be as quiet as possible, mindful of your sleeping companions, and eventually make your way over to where Senku sits.
He acknowledges your presence with the tiniest of nods and shifts over to make room for you to sit down by his side. You smile at the small gesture, yet you can feel your heartstrings pulling at the sight of him, eyes a deep crimson and absolutely swimming in a rare moment of unbridled emotion. You’re not entirely sure if he’s aware of just how much his personal feelings are bleeding through, but you keep your mouth closed and curiosity to yourself.
Leaning over, you touch your cheek gently against his, aware of the temperature contrast between your blanket-warmed skin and the sea-salt breezed cheek of his. With the lightest of touches you give him a loving kiss, hoping to convey a sense of not only comfort but unconditional support, ready to be there with him throughout it all no matter what the cost.
Senku doesn’t say anything in response, but the way you feel his cheek rise up in a smile is the sweetest response, warming your heart and soul more than any modern invention ever could.
Smug :: senku x reader
fandom : dr. stone
type : drabble, fluff?
note : i feel like this is a little silly but enjoy!! i really want to learn how to write him :]
requested : no
The whole Ishigami Village mistook you for enemies. Always fighting. It was simply childish banter, really. So, they tried to make the two of you get along and when that didn't work they had the idea of separating you.
However, eletricity was your strong suit and when batteries were needed you were ready to make them, a huge smile on your face. Although that smile soon left when you started to struggle to set everything up.
Senku watched from the back, a smug look on his face. "Kukukuku, I thought you knew how to make batteries?" He laughed.
"Shut up, I'm doing my best." You huffed, grabbing a handful of dirt and throwing it at him.
"Woah woah, guys come on. Stop fighting!!" Chrome whined, pushing Senku away from you as you snickered at them.
You didn't mind the silly banter, the smug look on his face was as good as the small but precious moments the two of you had in the privacy of the science hut.
WHOEVER THOUGHT THIS UP WAS A GENIUS OMG 😍
Dr. Stone for the headcanons to drabbles, if you don't mind!!!
Hc that pre-petrification, whenever Senkuu would visibly pout ANYWHERE in Byakuya's line of sight, it's just an immediate 'my son is upset, SILLY DAD MODE ACTIVATED' and he do all these frantic gestures and funny little phrases like 'Is that Senkuu? Pouting!? OH, I thought I'd never see the day come!' and Senkuu would stare at him like he'd gone insane.
When that doesn't work, Byakuya then decides 'Well, damn, gotta take it up a notch smh' and then proceeds to tickle the science outta Senkuu until he's screaming that he's better now, it's hilarious.
{Headcanons to Dabbles: CLOSED!}
CUTE!!! Oh my god I love this! We need more Byakuya Senku stories! I've gotcha covered, anon!
Senku's around grade school age in this one? Like- whatever the age he was when we first see him and Byakuya.
Byakuya had never seen a more appalling sight.
“What’s THIS?” He gasped, clutching his pearls upon witnessing Senku leaning against the window seal, mouth formed in a promident pout. Rain pattered against the window, officially ruining the young scientist’s plans. “Is that my beloved son pouting? Oh this can’t be? I have no choice- I must fix it!”
“...” Senku barely looked his way before returning his attention to the window, leaning further into his hand. His pout intensified, becoming a full bottom lip situation.
“GAH! No- my poor Senku!” Byakuya fell to his knees, one hand outstretched to the child while the other clutched his chest, fake tears and all. “My son! My dear boy! Falling victim to the evil pout monster!” He scooted over on his knees, falling just before the window seat as he collapsed against hit, bowing his head. “Come back to me, child!”
Senku continued to look out the window, lips quivering. A small puff escaped, the pout lessening some. Byakuya looked up with wide eyes.
“I see now…the cure to bring back my boy!” He rose, revived with a new set of determination. “Begone, pouting beast! For I am- BYAKUYA!” He roared as he gathered the boy in his arms, bringing him into his lap as his fingers danced along Senku’s belly.
“AH! Ahehahahhahahha! Dahhahahahd, stahhahhahahap!” The child squealed, curling up against the hand clawing at his torso. “Doohoohhoohn’t tihiihihihickle mehehehhehhe!”
“Huh? What’s that? I can’t hear you over the sound of my swords! Clink, clink!” He switched to poking, prodding at Senku’s ribs. “Unhand my son, pout monster!”
“Ahehahahahhahaha! Dhahahahhad pleahhahhahahse! Gehahahhaha I’m nohoohoht poohoohohuting ahahahanymore!” He reached out, banging his fist against his father’s chest. “Tehehhehehere!”
“OH! My heart!” Byakuya groaned before rolling backwards, still holding Senku against his chest. “I’m done for. Goodbye cruel world!”
“Ugh, get ohohoff me! Dad!” Senku laughed, giving some fight to push Byakuya’s hand away before snuggling into his chest, shaking his head with a sleepy smile.
Right Infront of My Salad?
Request: @dreamtogether2000 I was only doing it because I was curious but then I got Obsessed?! Please this with gn reader is everything I love! Go Buck Wild.
AN: First of all what a pick. Second of all, thank you for requesting this. I love writing crack fics especially this one was awesome. I hope you like it. We shall name this the Tropesvania Event- feel free to request
Genre: Fluff
Pairing(s): Adrian Tepes x GN Reader
Summary: Obsessed-gn-drabble
“They are, to put it mildly…” Lisa cringed, glancing into the camera, “obsessed with each other.”
“They’ve lost it. Whatever this is, it’s worse than anything unholy,” Dracula deadpanned, his tone dripping with the resignation of a centuries-old vampire.
Somehow, it had come to this: Dracula and Lisa, dragged onto Dr. Phil, seated stiffly next to their son, Adrian, and you. The root of the chaos.
Yet, the elephant in the room remained unaddressed. And riding triumphantly atop that elephant, entwined as if nothing else in the world existed, were Lisa and Dracula’s beloved son and you.
It had all started innocently enough, during the honeymoon phase of dating. At first, Lisa had found it endearing. Adrian gushing about you had been a breath of fresh air.
Every detail about your smile, your laugh, your favorite book had been recounted with an enthusiasm so pure it melted even Dracula’s icy heart.
Lisa had helped Adrian pick out the right outfits, thoughtful gifts, and conversation topics to avoid awkward silences. Dracula had joined in too, bemused by the adorable mess his son had become under the spell of young love.
Then, they met you.
From the moment of that first introduction, you had stormed into Castle Dracula like a burst of spring sunlight, your chaotic energy scattering the stoic gothic gloom.
Supper, once a quiet affair for three, transformed into a nightly event for four. The castle seemed warmer, brighter—alive. Though neither parent would admit it, there were moments they almost welcomed the change.
It was as if the wintery gloom of their home had been replace with fistfuls of spring shoved up ever nook of the castle.
But young love is nothing if not overwhelming.
Catching the two of you making out had been amusing at first, Dracula turning a delicate shade of crimson and retreating with an indignant swoosh of his cape.
But the charm wore thin quickly. After exactly twenty-three incidents of stumbling upon you in her lab, Lisa’s patience finally snapped.
And yet, here you were.
“I love you,” you giggled, nestled against Adrian, your hands wrapped around a mug of hot chocolate, the matching rings on your fingers glinting in the firelight.
Across the room, Lisa and Dracula watched from the couch, their expressions somewhere between weariness and acceptance, as Adrian’s face lit up to match yours. “I love you more,” he replied earnestly, leaning in closer.
“Noooo,” you drawled, sticking your tongue out at him playfully. “I love you more.”
Adrian pressed a kiss to your cheek, his golden eyes brimming with adoration. “I love you more than anything.”
Lisa saw Dracula’s face turn a distinct shade of green. Whether it was from the sweetness of the hot chocolate or the relentless PDA, she couldn’t say.
The count excused himself abruptly, clearing his throat as both parents caught sight of Adrian’s hand slipping under the blanket.
A single day. Adrian had been gone for one day to retrieve an ancient tome.
It had been an ordeal pulling him away, his golden eyes darting anxiously between you and the door as he nodded solemnly to your endless instructions about his health. To Lisa’s surprise, you had smiled and sent him off with a merry wave.
It unsettled both parents when you slammed the door shut immediately afterward only for your composure to crumble into pieces.
“I miss him,” you whimpered, staring forlornly at the cracks in the stone floor. “However shall I endure this?” you sobbed, burying your face in your arms.
For hours, you parked yourself by the door, refusing to move, before embarking on a grieving tour of the castle. Every room bore witness to your dramatic laments as you sprawled across tables, sighed mournfully in hallways, and flopped listlessly onto chairs.
Lisa and Dracula followed at a safe distance, watching in silent horror. By the end of the day, Lisa questioned her son’s doting nature, and Dracula could only mutter, “I'm too old for this Lisa.”
When Adrian finally returned, all hell broke loose.
You bolted toward him the moment the doors opened, nearly tripping over the carpet in your haste to reach him. Lisa and Dracula stood frozen in place, watching the soap opera that Castle Dracula had somehow become unfold before their eyes.
But it wasn’t the excessively affectionate reunion that left them speechless. It wasn’t even your tearful declarations of love or Adrian’s matching intensity.
It was the bold black ink scrawled across Adrian’s arm.
Your name. Permanently tattooed, proud and unashamed.
The sight left the family in stunned silence, each member processing the revelation in their own way.
For Lisa, it was an emotional breakdown, complete with head-in-hands groaning. For Dracula, it was a mental and spiritual crisis, punctuated by a mumbled, “By all the dark powers… what has he done?”
Meanwhile, the happy couple remained blissfully unaware of the chaos swirling around them, lost in a world that consisted of only each other.
Castle Dracula would never be the same again.
'UNSUNG SONGS' A SENKU x READER DRABBLE
Synopsis: After literal years of watching Reader pine over Senku, Gen decides to give them both a little push. [Indirect sequel to this fic] Requested By: A Lovely Anonymous Requester Request: 'Hello Author! Iam the person who requested Senku x Reader a few days ago that you already made into drabble. I came here to request a Part 2 of the drabble.A few days have passed, and Reader can't help but fall deeper for Senku. She remembered that someone used to say to her that a crush is just lack of information but years, month and days have passed since she met him long time ago but the more she get to know Senku the more she fall in love with him. It's feel like she have fallen into a black hole with how deep she have fallen. Though of couse the black hole she have fallen is quite a pleasant one. Without knowing her eyes light up everything time she see Senku. When she look at Senku, she smile without herself realising. Her heart feel light and fluffy when thinking or being with Senku. Though Reader does wonder if Senku feel the same way. She didn't dare to ask him anything. Fearing that his blunt word would break her heart and ruin their relationship ( Soft Hearted Reader here! ). Reader feel it's more better like this ( Their current relationship ).Basically, Iam pretty sure people around would notice the adoration/love/soft look in her eyes when Reader look at Senku ( I guess ? What do you think ) especially Gen. What do you think people around would do when they looked at Reader being like that and surely will Senku do something? If not the it's alright too. Because I don't think Senku is the type of person who will tell the person they in love with that they have fallen in love with them straightforwardly consider in the anime Senku want to quickly return from the island because afraid of Tsukasa body rotting because left too long in the freezer but of couse he kept it inside his heart since he didn't want to be emotional???? Basically with the second paragraph I write can you write a FLUFF drabble of Senku x Reader.THANK YOU FOR READING THE LONG PARAGRAPHS AUTHOR!!!!!! I plan to write my request just like before but it's came out like a story. Iam pretty sure you can write something more amazing with the information ( Second paragraph). I think you are quite AMAZING author. The way you write Senku is like the real Senku ( You get what I mean right? (″ロ゛) )' Age Rating: E Warnings: N/A Genre: Fluff Word Count: 4,760
With legs crossed and shoulders rounded you sat relaxed, palm cradling the jut of your chin as you watched Senku work on his latest science project. The finer details of what exactly he was doing were somewhat beyond you, but as you watched him carefully pour out a measured test tube into a larger beaker, grin almost manic-looking with his brow furrowed in concentration and eyes focused in with pinpoint precision, you could easily tell that the scientist was absolutely elated about whatever it was he was doing. That was more than enough for you to be excited about it, eyes soft as you watched him work from a safe distance across the lab.
“You could just tell him you know.” While Gen’s voice was mischievous, matched by a grin that would make the devil flinch, he wasn’t exactly joking. He’d been the first to pick up on it, noticing the way you began to follow Senku about with a near desperation to be in his presence, catching your change in demeanor at the mere mention of their head scientist’s name before you had yourself; he had not, however, been the only one to notice it. In fact, it was common knowledge amongst the kingdom of science by now that you had fallen hard for Senku, and you had no chance of recovery. Some had even taken to making bets on who would say something first - surely, if they had all noticed how you felt, Senku had too.
“Huh?!” Gen’s sudden intrusion into your thoughts made you jump: you had nearly forgotten he was there, “Wh- I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Though you found yourself no less startled as you processed what Gen had just said, you struggled your way towards an attempted recovery, stuttering through a weak denial as you pleaded silently for Gen to drop the subject. You knew as well as he that, this wrapped up in an experiment, Senku wasn’t listening to you. Still, he was right there - what if he heard you?
“Come on…” With a heavy sign Gen deflated with ever-dramatic flare onto the countertop he sat in front of, squishing his cheek to the cold stone as he drew out his words in a whine. Though when you showed no signs of budging, even as he pouted up at you, Gen was quick to change tactics. His back straightened so gradually he almost seemed to be a snake, slithering upright as silver tongue danced behind smirking lips and mischievous eyes cracked ever so slightly open to meet yours.
“It’s been nearly three years [Name]. You’ll never move forward if you keep running away.” A weak protest died in your throat, lips parting but sound failing you as you stared at Gen. Even as his high tone lilted lightly, much too casual for the words spoken, his words struck you. Seldom was Gen ever so serious - you couldn’t help but take what he said to heart.
“Besides,” A sharp poke to your cheek pulled you from your whirling stupor, Gen’s expression becoming light again as his eyes closed and his lips quirked into a boyish grin, “...it’s no fun to watch a drama if there’s no drama.” The joke hardly bothered you, a part of you even thankful for the way it smashed away the lingering tension. Still, you felt obligated to shoot Gen a small, pointed scowl, smacking away the finger still pressed to your face indignantly as you clicked your tongue.
“Oi, quit fooling around!” Senku’s voice cutting into the conversation stopped the topic dead, both your and Gen’s attention drawn immediately as Senku spoke up for the first time since he’d begun his work perhaps an hour ago.
“We’re about to make a serious breakthrough here.” Though his words were rough as always, the grin that spread wide across his face told of his lack of malice. All those in the lab were quick to gather around, yourself and Gen crowding on either side of Senku as Chrome and Ukyo padded over from the opposite station where they had been working.
“Look at this.” Raising the beaker he’d been so carefully mixing and measuring with a success that told you he’d finally gotten the reaction he’d wanted, Senku showed off the fruits of his labor. A glass beaker, carefully modeled and crafted, filled about ⅔ of the way with clear liquid. Most stared at it with clear confusion, heads tilted and eyes blank as they tried desperately to recall what Senku had been making through his ever-detailed explanation of how exactly he was going to make it; Chrome specifically stared with bright-eyed excitement, fists clenched as he took a wide stance and pushed his face so close his nose nearly touched the glass.
“Woah! It’s so cool!” You could see Senku inflate under the praise, “What is it again?” only for his shoulders to drop and his eyes to narrow, looking around at four confused faces staring between him and the beaker. You held back a giggle, listening to Senku sigh, pretending he was the least bit upset about “having” to explain the process again.
“To put it simply, once we were able to grow our own crops and find a way to preserve them it was only a matter of time before we had everything we needed to make this.” A small, empathetic swirl, sent the clear contents inside the beaker to spin and bubble ever so slightly, “Antiseptic.”
xxx
The evening was one of celebration. With the creation of an antiseptic, even a mild one, came a world of possibilities for the health and wellbeing of the Kingdom’s people - a world most had never dreamed being possible in this stone world. The introduction of something that could destroy an infection, kill something that so easily robbed the life of even the most able-bodied, the antibiotic, had been revolutionary - the introduction of something that could prevent the infection to start was enough to bring many of the village elders to joy-filled tears, more hopeful than ever for future generations.
Their happiness was ironically infectious, the evening quickly picking up into a boisterous feast that continued even as the sun said it’s goodbye’s for the night and the moon rose to greet you. The fire’s flames flared high, rising in flickering curls that left tendrils of smoke trailing into the chill of the night air as the firewood beneath popped and crackled with the heat. You watched as many of the people you’d come to call friends danced in its orange-tinted glow, moving along to the swaying beat of makeshift instruments created for the more musically-inclined. It made you happy, seeing those you cared for so much basking in so much excitement, given such hope and purpose; knowing it was Senku who’d made this all possible, facilitating every step of the road you’d paved together, made your heart swell.
The longer you had spent by his side the harder you had fallen. Even as you’d tried to wiggle yourself free from the desperation of your heart, Senku had come to reel you back in, striking you with the realization of why you had fallen so painfully in love with him in the first place. At first, you’d feared being a burden - and then, as Senku wiped away both your doubt around your worth and any chance you had of getting over him in one fell swoop, you’d decided that you were simply happiest as things were.
Revealing your heart and placing it, open and vulnerable, before Senku came with freedom of burden, unspoken words and untold secrets finally free from the cage you’d trapped them behind. It also came with the danger of having it torn apart, revealing your tender heart to him and giving him the opportunity to break it. Terrified as you were of having the overwhelming warmth your feelings brought you turn cold, what you feared more than anything was the damage of the aftermath. If you broke the barrier that kept things strictly platonic between the two of you, you feared it may never heal back the same way. If you told Senku you loved him, would he start seeing you differently?
Brow furrowed and eyes downcast you stared into the dark liquid of your drink, rippling as your hands gripped tighter to your wooden mug. Your thoughts spiraled and just as you feared the anxiety may swallow you whole, a tug at the fabric of your clothes pulled your thoughts back to the surface.
“[Name]? Are you ok?” Blinking away the blur your head inclined to find Suika standing beside you, a hand still entwined in the loose fabric of your shit as she stared up at you, head tilted.
“Oh, I was just lost in thought. Nothing to worry about. Did you need something Suika?” Perking up as if your question had reminded her why she’d sought you out in the first place, Suika pulled her hands back to clasp them in front of her chest.
“Have you seen Gen? I have a very important message! Oh, that’s supposed to be a secret-- you won’t tell anyone, right?” You managed just barely to stop yourself from chuckling at the adorable way Suika looked at you, instead smiling and offering a small nod.
“Not a soul. I haven’t seen him at all tonight though, come to think of it…” Having spent much of your night distracted, wrapped up in your own thoughts as they warred between echoing Gen’s earlier words and blatantly trying to forget them, you hadn’t realized until Suika had brought it up that you hadn’t seen the offending speaker since you’d parted ways at the lab. As if in disbelief of your own memory you found your head turning, searching about the crowd for any sign of his stark white streak of hair, or the pale lavender of his flowing kimono. It was unusual for Gen to miss events like this, opportunities to unwind and focus on fun few and far between. Still, no matter how hard you searched, eyes straining and head swiveling, you found no sign of the Kingdom’s resident mentalist.
“Hm… Then that means this is a job for Detective Suika and her trusty assistant Chalk!” You smiled fondly as Chalk gave an affirmative bark, hopping about Suika’s feet in excitement. She thanked you as you wished her luck, giving the duty-bound detective a small wave as she tucked into the watermelon atop her head and rolled off.
xxx
“Everyone’s celebrating out there, you know.” As Gen made his rather dramatic entrance, arms open at his sides as he walked forward to allow a sliver of moonlight to illuminate him in silver, Senku found himself rolling his eyes. He’d known Gen had been standing there for just about two full minutes, but he was waiting to see how long it would take him to show himself; Senku had almost hoped that if he’d ignored him long enough Gen might leave him to his research.
“Yeah. Sounds like they’re having a good time.” A hand on his hip and an absent glance out of a nearby window allowed Senku a moment to grin fondly, thinking of the people outside as he heard their joy resonating through the wooden walls.
“[Name] is out there with them too.” Senku’s expression became level as he turned, studying Gen for a moment. He was done beating around the bush, it seemed. Still, as quickly as Senku had made his assessment he pulled his lips into a hard line, a finger scratching at the inside of his ear as he feigned ignorance.
“Eh?” Even as Senku refused to engage with the topic, hoping Gen would drop it if he didn’t pick up his end, the mentalist remained undeterred. Enough was enough, and he was going to push. This was a mental game, and they both knew Gen was winning it.
“Are you just going to let them continue like this forever?” Though Gen’s light tone and raised brow feigned amusement, Senku could feel the jab residing beneath as it swiped for his gut. Even in Senku’s continued silence, eyes hard as they met Gen’s slightly revealed ones, Gen pressed on.
“Hm. Maybe you like the attention, having someone hovering around you all the time like that? I can’t say I blame you.” As Gen gave a heavy shrug, hands facing palm-up as they came parallel with his shoulders, he felt the tension in the air become heavy. His words had made impact: good.
“Gen, this is still basic medicine. We have a long way to go if we’re going to get humanity back. I have work to do.” Senku’s eyes were downcast now, and as he took his seat back at his desk and began pouring over his paperwork again he made a show of apathy anyone else may have believed. But, as Senku’s voice shook with the lightest lack of it’s normal, unwavering conviction, Gen knew his point had been made.
“Fine, fine.” Raising his hands, pretending to surrender the battle he’d already won, Gen allowed himself to back towards the door, leaving Senku to stare blankly down at equations he could no longer focus on as he slipped out from the lab.
xxx
“Suika.” It had only been moments since Gen had taken his leave from the nearly-empty lab, just ranging out of ear shot when he spoke to address the person he knew had been listening for some time. Stifling a laugh as he saw the stem of a melon dart into and out of sight again as Suika jumped, Gen offered a smile in her direction.
“You heard all that, right?” Timidly, Suika peeked out ever so slightly from behind a protective curtain of brush, looking guilty as she stared up at Gen, as if waiting for punishment. As he met her expression with a grin, however, crouching to be eye-level with her, her eyes widened with curiosity.
“Then you know what we need to do, right?” As the realization dawned on her Suika’s lips broke into a beaming smile, hopping ever so slightly as excitement overcame her.
“Right!”
xxx
The echoing sound of the party outside still resounded through the small walls of your hut, though from in here the world felt much more contained. The flickering candlelight at your bedside was much less overwhelming than the roaring fire that burned at the center of the village, the weight of your own thoughts more than enough intensity for you to bear all at once. It hadn’t been long after your conversation with Suika that you’d opted to head home, saying your goodbyes and turning in for the night.
Even as you laid in your bed, covers pulled to your chin, you found yourself restless. Tossing, turning, your eyes settled on the ceiling, the candlelight, the small decorative plants you’d managed to keep, but not once did your focus stray away from Gen’s words from that morning. You wanted to fight it - argue that this was the best option for everyone involved. But the only reason you believed that was because it was the safest option - and if you only ever did the safest thing, abandoning any and all desire for fear of risk, what were you really doing but running away?
‘I have to tell him.’ The thought swirled, chased by nattering whispers that told stories of heartbreak and pain, loneliness and ruin. You wanted to give in - tell yourself those thoughts were your realistic side, the floating need to confess that you’d held back for years nothing more than a fleeting whim. But, if you did nothing but run from those thoughts, what did that make you?
“Shit.”
xxx
“Shit.” Head sinking into his hands Senku finally dropped the quill he’d been destroying his parchment with, letting it land atop a pile of scribbled over equations with a messy splotch of spreading black ink. Try as he might to get the numbers aligned in his head, making tables, compartmentalizing into columns, he couldn’t focus. Inevitably, every thought warped into a thought of you, Gen’s words playing in the background like a tortuous record: ‘Are you just going to let them continue like this forever?’
He had been correct in what he’d said earlier regarding the experiment; this was just the beginning. While he was happy his friends were happy, pleased to let them celebrate the accomplishment, he was nowhere near satisfied. This discovery had just been a stepping stone, and it only made Senku all the more eager to use it to jump to the next. Even that excitement couldn’t outweigh the plague of guilt that weighed in his chest like a tumor, though, and so long as he was worrying about you he wasn’t going to be able to focus.
“This isn’t good.” Sighing aloud Senku slowly forced himself to rise from his desk, hand rubbing at his neck as he glanced absently towards the ceiling above him. He allowed himself a singular moment to lament on how he’d gotten himself here, caring so much even after so many years of telling himself that a relationship, that love, would be nothing but trouble. Then, with renewed determination, he headed towards the door. He had to deal with this, and he was going to do it now.
“Senku!” The crack of the door ricocheting off the opposite wall was drowned out by Suika’s voice, high and pinched in urgency as she came bouncing down the path, “I think [Name] is in trouble!”
Senku felt his heart clench, beating once, twice rapidly as his thoughts turned to the worst; however, as the first shot of panic eased in his mind he found those same thoughts becoming suspicious. Suika’s explanation only confirmed the nagging conspiracy forming in his mind as she frantically told him that she had seen you running off in a panic towards the outskirts of the Kingdom’s boundary - right after speaking with Gen.
As the final piece of a puzzle he’d set off to the side came into play the picture fell into his lap. A heavy sigh deflated his lungs, hand leaving his hair in even further disarray as it combed through the jutting tangle. He may have been able to see through this little set-up, but there was no way you would be so logical; especially not if Gen was involved.
“I came to you right away!” As Suika finished her frantic story, manic gesturing stilling as she stared up at him with expectation, Senku found himself unable to be irritated. He could be annoyed with Gen for being meddlesome, certainly, but with Suika staring right at him, the innocence in her eyes only reflected by the glass that enhanced them, he found himself unable to be overly upset. She, at least, was genuinely just trying to help.
“Thanks - I’ll check it out.” As Suika hopped with excitement, beaming the way she did only after a job well done, Senku gave himself the moment to consider that he was walking into an obvious trap - all for you. A subtle shake of his head was all the response he offered the thought before taking off towards the spot he knew Suika was sending him, building up to a jog.
It was a blessedly short trip along a forest path for Senku, allowing him to limit the time he lamented on how troublesome this was whilst unsuccessfully trying to talk himself out of it. Still, it seemed he had arrived at least a few minutes after you had as he pushed away an overgrown branch to reveal you, head swiveling as you looked about with a frantic desperation that suggested you simply couldn’t find even a hint of what you had been looking for.
The ragged pants and harsh breathing that strained Senku’s lungs and pushed through his throat as he struggled to catch his breath caught your attention quickly, though, and you wasted no time in making your way to his side to begin worrying over him.
“Senku? There you are! Are you ok?!” A raised hand begged you to pause, give him a moment, as Senku tried to catch his breath. It wasn't a long trip to this spot, but he was not an athletic man. Still, much more worried over Senku’s wellbeing than his raised hand, you couldn’t stop yourself from continuing.
“Gen told me you’d gotten stuck out here and I came looking but I couldn’t find you anywhere-- what happened?” As Senku finally managed to stand upright again, turning to meet your eye, the flat expression on his face told you exactly what had happened, even before his voice chimed in to chastise you for it.
“Gen suddenly came to you claiming there was an emergency and you believed him without question?” The flash of memory that matched Senku’s hypothesis almost exactly had your cheeks burning hot with embarrassment. As your arms crossed defensively you mustered, just barely, the courage to meet Senku’s eye with the corner of your own.
“I… if there was even a chance something had happened to you I wasn’t taking it.” Courage faltering your eye fell to the grass below, light summer breeze sending it to sway at your feet, “You showed up too. That’s why you’re here - right?”
It was at the small grunt of surprise sounding from the back of Senku’s throat that you managed to look at him again. It was his turn to avoid your eye, head rolling to the side as he pretended to look at something in the distance.
“Suika showed up at the lab. I figured you’d end up out here.” There was a moment where you found yourself puzzled, struggling to put together the new pieces you’d been given. Gen and Suika had been working together to send you both out here? Though it made you fluster, you could figure out why easily enough - but why here? Curious eyes studied Senku, as if you’d find an answer in his eyes, until you decided finally to follow his gaze. Immediately you understood.
The top of the hill where you stood marked the crest of a clearing. From up here, you could see with complete clarity the way the risen moon, full and abundant, blessed the field of flowers below with it’s silvery light. The light breeze had the sunflowers, taller perhaps than you, swaying in hypnotic rows as evening dew sparkled like stardust on their vibrant petals. In this stone world, the loss of everything modern had taken much from all of you; sometimes, you forgot how beautiful the natural world could be.
“Senku?” Somehow the scene put you at ease, the peace settling a determination in your mind. Heads turned slowly, eyes met, and before you could even begin to think of any of the million ways you’d prepared for this moment you found your lips parting and words overflowing, spilling finally free.
“I love you.”
The silence that followed was heavy. You watched as Senku’s relaxed expression became uneasy, a wariness clouding his eyes. Your gut lurched as anxiety settled in your stomach like a stone. Senku had been your rock, his level-headed stability bringing you comfort; conversely, when he felt uneasy, you couldn’t help but mirror the emotion. Still, determination boiling, you reminded yourself that life wasn’t about just settling for being comfortable.
“I’m not asking you to do anything you don’t want to. I just…” A hand raised as if grasping for words you struggled to string together, “I’ve felt this way for a long time. I think you know that already.” A small, bittersweet smile met his guilty expression, “I needed to tell you eventually. But I also need to know how you feel.”
At first Senku avoided your eyes, too earnest, too vulnerable. But, as he steeled himself to meet your gaze he managed the response he’d had in the back of his mind ever since he’d first noticed your behaviour towards him changing.
“I don’t think I can give you what you’re looking for.” Somehow the answer upset you more than a ‘no’, his refusal to answer the question upfront making you frown.
“I’m not looking for more than you already give me.”
“I think you should be.” Senku’s response was too quick, giving you no time to explain as crimson eyes locked on yours, the hard line of his lips doing his best to keep you locked out, “My research is always going to come first. I’m never going to care about stupid days like Valentine's Day or White Day. I’m not the least bit romantic and I’m never going to be.” Though Senku found himself somewhat surprised by the way your eyes continued to meet his, gaze unwavering, he continued along with his explanation, “I’m not a normal guy. You should have someone who can match what you’re putting in.”
“What more can I ask for than someone who makes me happy?” It wasn’t often Senku was asked a question he found himself without any answer to, but having you retort so quickly, so assuredly, had him lost for words. As your hand outstretched to take his own, gentle as you placed his upside down palm in your face-up one, Senku struggled not to flinch; the contact was unfamiliar, intimidating. His curiosity won out as he waited, breath caught in his throat as he listened to you continue.
“I didn’t fall in love with you because I want you to change, Senku.” You felt long fingers tense in your own for a moment before the attached hand slowly relaxed, words striking Senku like an open palm. Even as his posture eased he stared at you with a lingering wariness, logic fighting heart behind burning crimson eyes as he fought between pulling his hand from yours and engulfing your fingers within his own.
“I’m not saying anything has to change if you don’t want it to, either. I just need to know how you feel.” Eyes wide, alight with unguarded emotion, you found your voice shaking as you again asked Senku to tell you how he felt about you; to shatter your heart, here and now and let you finally recollect it’s pieces, or to accept you as you were - and as he was.
“I think love is more trouble than it’s worth.” Senku looked again at the field of flowers below, lids low as you felt the tips of his fingers begin to tremble against your palm, “It impairs logical judgement, consumes valuable time, and promotes unnecessary risk.”
Senku’s eyes flitted back to you as you shrunk beneath his words, chest aching. Even as the mood of the situation began to sink, Senku couldn’t help the grin beginning to spread at the corners of his lips.
“Which is why I avoided telling you. But you’re kind of forcing my hand here, huh?” Lowering eye shot wide, the threatening burn of forming tears stopped immediately as you looked towards Senku again.
“Ahh, this is troublesome. You know I hate mushy stuff, so don’t expect me to say it often - but I love you too.” A sharp pinch to your cheek paused your beginning celebration, catching the smile that spread across your face as Senku’s expression became serious again.
“I meant it when I said I wasn’t going to change, [Name]. I’m always going to be who I am - for better or for worse. Are you sure that’s what you want?” Leaning forward, face inches from your own you found your cheeks burning from his sudden proximity, throat tight as the intensity of his stare threatened to rob you of your senses. A heavy gulp swallowed the feeling as you nodded, smiling again.
“It’s what I’ve always wanted.” Though Senku rolled his eyes, clicking his tongue as his fingers pinched again at your cheek, the small blush you could see dusting his cheeks made your heart swell.
“You’re a weirdo, you know?” Finally letting go of your face Senku freed you to laugh as he teased you.
“You’re one to talk.”
xxx
“So… it worked? We did it?” Suika’s voice was hushed as she stood on top-toe to peer from behind a stretch of underbrush, expression giddy as she turned to look at Gen, who’d been watching the scene at her side from the beginning.
“Yup! I knew they just needed a little push.” Gen spoke in a song, raised hand counting invisible numbers as flexing fingers did unknown math, “Which means Magma owes me 100 Dragos!”
Staring at the excited face of Gen as he celebrated his gambling win Suika found her lip curling.
“So slimy…”
A/N: Hello Anon! Thank you so much both for your request and your kind words! I'm SO glad you enjoy my writing, and I'm also very happy you like how I characterize Senku! I try really hard to keep the characters as they are, so I'm glad to hear it's working!
I got a little carried away with this one and wrote more than I thought I would, but hopefully you don't mind!
I hope all who read enjoyed. Thank you for making it to the end, and safe travels!
senku when you're sick
- LMAO
- YOU IDIOT
- he definitely gonna make fun of you
- you'll be sniffling, sneezing, coughing, suffering in your bed when he gets home and he'll start laughing at you on the spot, lovingly of course
"...Senkuuu..." You dared to utter another word, or else a coughing fit will start to erupt. He walks up to the side of your bed after hanging his lab coat and setting down his gear, covering up his smile with his hand.
"Pfft, are you serious, y/n?" He failed to hide the laugh that escaped going forward. "You weren't like this yesterday, with all that 'Oh no, Senku! I'm not gonna get sick if I go outside in the rain, in summer wear, and measure acidity levels! I'm practically immune to this weather!-" He palmed his head as his laughter let loose from the strain.
"Shut up! It wasn't supposed to happen like this! I.." You stopped and quickly stuffed your face into your arm as violent coughs began to force out.
"Like what..? You laid in bed all day all icky?" He retorted, taking a seat on the bed. He leaned closer to you and pushed back the hair in your face before resting the back of his hand against your forehead, feeling your warm temperature. He concluded with a hypothesis of what you had, judging by your temperature and symptoms. He looked down at your vulnerable form and sighed.
"...you're one stupid girl, you know that?" He remarked as you rolled your eyes in ignorance. He leaned down again and tucked your loose strands of hair behind your ear. Your cheeks burned from the small action. "...but, you're my stupid girl, so I guess you deserve a bit of leniency."
- damn i just reread that and it got me kicking my feet giggling and shit but anyways 💀
- don't you worry one bit, senku will have you taken care of after clowning you, starting in the kitchen with an apron tied on
- he'll cook you up a nice pot of chicken noodle soup, vegetables added for nutrients
- he'll make you a steamy cup of chamomile tea with lemon and honey, of course, the amount adjusted to your likeness of sweet or lemony
- he knows liquids are very important, so expect more room temperature juices and hot teas of the such from him
- he'll also gather all the supplies of tissue and cough medicine in the house and have it set up on the nightstand on your bedside
- if you run out of tissue, he'll bring you a roll of toilet paper bc they're basically the same thing, and you'll start laughing for no reason 💀
- after every cup of tea or bowl of soup, you compliment his culinary skills, and in some cases, you thank him dearly, to which he scoffs and rolls his eyes in response
- but in reality, it makes his heart beat a lil faster, makes him smile
- if your illness is way out of what he expected, he'll go out of his way to diagnose you, taking a small sample from you and checking the bacteria for himself under a microscope
- he'll do anything for you in order for your health to get back up to par
- except maybe one thing
"But Senkuuu I don't like that medicine..." you complained, eyeing the tiny cup of thick dark blue that he poured for you to take earlier. "It's gross...like drinking liquid metal chemicals."
"Y/n you're acting like a child. Of course, it's going to taste like that, it's medicine. Now, go ahead and take it already." He turned around to exit the room, but he was struck behind by the pillow you'd thrown.
"...I'll only take it if you give it to me." He turned around and stared at you. You stared right back at his crimson-red eyes as you crossed your arms. A long, heavy sigh escaped from his mouth as he picked up your pillow and made his way over to your side of the bed.
"Fine. But only because this medicine is really for your own good. It's important you take."
"Yeah, yeah, okay." You sat up while he first stuffed the thrown pillow behind your back. He picked up the cup with his fingers while the other hand cupped your cheek, his thumb resting just above your chin and under your bottom lip. Before he began the action, you stopped him mid track. "No I...I want you to give it to me from..." Your hand motions finished your words. Your thumb brushed over lips in a coy manner, but Senku could read in between the lines.
"Ew," he muttered stonely. "Why the hell would do something like that?" Rhetorical question, y/n.
"...it'd taste sweeter coming from your lips." You wiggled your eyebrows teasingly.
"..." He sighed once more, pinching his nose bridge. "...If you wanted to kiss me that badly, you should've said so in the first place," he chuckled, a smirk beginning to form. "You know I give what you ask for, y/n...Now, close your eyes." He ordered before filling his mouth with the medicine from the tiny cup. He leaned down, cupping your face and brushing his lips against yours, allowing you to part them a little. Then, his landed on yours, followed by the liquid slowly dripping down your throat. You quickly swallowed to capture his lips in an embrace, savoring the warmth you shared.
