Depending on what fandom you know me from, I'm CoriMariee, PurpleRoselets, @purple-roses-words-and-love or here @the-heartstring-chronicles, and this is my general update.
This will now be my only Tumblr where I post anything. Please follow me here if we are friends.
(I will still post on Twitter or Facebook as well if we are friends there.)
I tagged all my fandoms to find folks I know, but if you don't know me, sorry feel free to follow or ignore as you wish :))
All the text posts were put back on my old Call The Midwife blog today, after Tumblr deleted them all without warning and for no reason years ago because i guess the AI marked them as spam when the spam bot hacked me.
So I got all my missing fics back and put them up on A03 today. All of those are for Call The Midwife
I will not be using my old Call The Midwife only Tumblr anymore though now that I have retrieved my fics because I am wary of it because it was spam bot hacked before, as I said,
So this will be my only tumblr blog.
(I actually have an even older Tumblr blog, older even than my Call The Midwife one, that I don't even know if it still exists due to it being over ten years since I logged in. I am writing that one off)
But, this is my only tumblr home now.
I will leave my now funtional CTM tumblr with my CTM fic on it, existing as a backup for those stories in case A03 takes a nap , but I won't be interacting with it.
This current tumblr is where I will combining all my fandoms and posting/ reblogging content for them and doing fic ask responses for them all.
And like I mentioned, the fanfiction I'm most proud of having written In each of my fandoms is slowly being compiled by me as CoriMariee on A03. There are also fics by me under that same name on Fanfiction.net, some are the same there as on AO3 and some are just on FF.net because i don't feel those are worthy of transferring to A03. There are also a few fics written by me on several different fandom specific websites on the web. Some under the Star Trek umbrella for J/C and some for Dr Quinn Medicine Woman, I have not decided how many of those are good enough for A03 yet.
But in general i'm still just the Cori you know and if you follow me here from any fandom , you will likely see some content in which we both share an interest. Thank you for continuing to be my friend.

Recommending some of my favorite rap songs. As a latin american trans woman, I didn't grow up with rap, but I learned to listen to and appreciate it. These are some great songs I think everyone should hear, and hopefully add to their playlists. These are Spotify links, but you can find these songs elsewhere too. My favorites are in blue:
Pop Rap: She's a Bitch by Missy Elliot (1999); Comfortable (ft. Babyface) by Lil Wayne (2003); Savage (ft. Beyoncé) by Megan Thee Stallion (2020); Too Many Nights (ft. Don Toliver & Future) by Metro Boomin (2022); Never Lose Me (ft. SZA & Cardi B) by Flo Mili (2024)

I strongly recommend checking out other songs by these artists, the albums these songs are from, more songs from these genres and others I didn't include, and to explore everything hip hop has to offer (especially hip hop made by women). Feel free to add any artists and songs I (obviously) missed, that you think deserve more love and recognition, particularly independent music. Enjoy!

Who do you think will survive the killing game??? ( also if you were already asked this my B )
:D
Hi! Don’t worry, I don’t think I’ve ever talked about it, so I had to give it some thought :p It’s an interesting question, so let’s see!
As a TL;DR, my “most likely,” in order and assuming a standard killing game formula (obviously the amount of survivors could be way different), are Teruko - J - Whit - Rose - Levi
Spoilers up to CH2 EP15
Of course, there’s one character that’s already kinda locked in as a survivor (assuming a more or less standard fangan ending and not an “everyone dies” sorta situation), and that’s Teruko. While there were theories about a possible protag switch post-LGI release, I’ve never found them particularly believable, and I don’t really think they’re very popular anymore.
The next character that’s basically a survivor already is Min, because if I never accept her death, she will always be alive in my books. /j
Yeah honestly after Teruko my confidence on survivor guesses drops dramatically, since there’s obviously no good way to tell.
Still, one character that particularly stands out to me is J. I have my reasons to believe she might become the primary support character a la Kirigiri, and while that doesn’t guarantee survival, I’d say it ups the chances a bit.
As to why I believe that… well here’s the thing. I’m kinda planning to make a mastermind probability ranking post after CH2 ends, and I’ll talk about my predictions for J in more detail there. As a result, I’d just be repeating myself if I talk about it here. So, I'll give you the quick rundown and leave the more detailed explanation for that post.
Basically, I believe the core theme of DRDT is the concept of “fate” and the possibility of change, where the big climax for Teruko’s character arc in particular (the single most important arc for the narrative, protag privilege) will be rejecting the notion that she’s fated to have bad luck forever. She already talked about it with Xander before he stabbed her, and her primary character foil, David, “covered” Literature Girl Insane. You don’t exactly give that song to a character who is very hopeful for a better future. Even Teruko’s trust issues are born from the belief her bad luck makes betrayal inevitable. And with Ace talking about how he’s “a coward who couldn’t fight his fate” (paraphrased), the connection seems more solid than ever.
J is important in that context because her entire character is sorta designed around the concept of rejecting fate, the thing Teruko needs to “learn to do” as it were. J was born into stardom and fame, born “lucky” (LGI numeral number seven symbolism go brr), but hides it and rejects her birthright down to her secret quote, “Please don’t call me your daughter ever again.” If Charles and Eden are the ones who are trying to get Teruko to trust again, I see J as the one who has the best shot at convincing her that she’s not doomed by the universe itself, giving her the best shot at survival out of any non-protag imo.
Also, silly yet existent argument: the CH1 title screen had Teruko (and Xander), the CH2 had J. Is it possible the survivors will each be featured in one screen? Probably not, but still.
The next one’s Whit. DRDT seems committed to explore its characters as much as possible before they die (which I think we all agree is awesome), and that means those that haven’t been fully explored or developed yet have a higher chance of a late run, thus a higher chance of survival. This applies to J and Rose somewhat, but it applies to Whit especially. I sometimes feel that we know more about Mai Akasaki than we do about Whit, which should tell you something.
Contrast that to Charles, who is absolutely dying sometime soon (imo). Even ignoring the “Charles dead at three” Whit comment from the prologue, Charles’ character arc is a little too complete for me to think it’s likely he stays ‘till the end. After we close out the Elliot subplot (which could easily be in CH3 given Elliot’s MV is already out), killing Charles off would be a good way to really kickstart Whit’s inevitable Breakdown Arc.
Final points to consider about Whit are the fact that luck is mentioned in his character bio, which along with J’s LGI numeral VII and Teruko being Teruko gives him an extra connection to the two survivors I’ve pointed out; and the possibility of him being the mastermind. Again something for the MM post, but put briefly; he’s not a bad mastermind guess, but I think it’s very likely that if he is, he won’t survive, so there’s that.
The next one might be Rose? Recap foil with J, so if the dev wants to explore that to its fullest, Rose will probably make a late run at least. There’s a lot to explore with her character too, but frankly that’s a bit of a moot point; every character in DRDT has a lot to explore.
Even if she’s one of, if not the best pick for mastermind imo, it’s very possible she can be the type of MM to be redeemed and survive alongside the cast. Again, details will probably have to wait for the mastermind post :v Hate to be saying that so much, but understandably given some of the reasoning is similar, a lot of good MM guesses are good survivor guesses.
As for the fifth most likely… well, this is the reason this post took me a week (this and I was busy :v). See, if you’d asked me during the hiatus, I would have said Ace. Obviously, that wouldn’t have aged very well now would it?
The ask was sent a bit after Ep14, and by the time I got some free time to write this, it was already Wednesday and anything I said about Ace or Eden could have very realistically been proven wrong in just a few days, so I decided to hold off until culprit reveal. And now that Ace is looking like the blackened, I’m pretty glad I did.
This does bring up a curious issue of gender balance. In theory, there’s nothing stopping DRDT’s survivor cast from leaning one way or the other, but generally survivor casts do try to keep it as equal as possible. And with three women already listed, even putting Nico here would cause an imbalance. But the thing is… I don’t see almost any of the men surviving?
Hence, Levi. I frankly have no clue where his character is going with the recent reveals and the fact Ace is dying soon; I could just as easily see him as the second CH3 victim (if there are two) or fulfilling “buff character curse” by dying in 4. But… not knowing where someone’s arc is going is kinda the reason Whit is up there, so I’m using the same reasoning. It’s my least confident guess, so yeah. He’d certainly be an interesting survivor at least, I wonder how he’d play off the mastermind in trial 6.
To quickly cover the other characters, I’ll go in order of least likely to survive to most likely. Excusing the dead, of course.
-Ace: He’s technically still alive, but, uh… uh…
-David: If he were to survive, he’d need to go on a near identical arc to Teruko, which is… hard to imagine properly working. He’ll make a late run, probably, but I can’t see him reaching the sixth.
-Charles: Already explained.
-Arturo might be a little too insane to work. It’s hard to imagine a sixth trial with Arturo of all damn people around. Especially if J’s there.
And… those are kinda all the guesses I have for who is (in my belief) 100% dying. I could actually see every other character being a survivor :v
-Veronika runs into the same issue as Arturo; it’d be hard to let the mastermind do MM stuff when this girl’s there simping for them. However, I could see a world where dev keeps her for the psychoanalysis of the MM… kinda. Frankly, she should be in the “no chance” list, but… she’s my favorite alongside Min so let me have hope!-
-Nico has the advantage that they’re the only way to make a cast of 5 survivors perfectly balanced in terms of boys and girls; two of each and Nico. But that’s not very strong. The main issue is that I don’t really know what could happen with them in the remaining chapters that would advance their character to a point they’re a survivor, if that makes sense. Maybe if Rose makes it?
-Hu is weird. From what we’ve seen in the series, she would make a pretty compelling survivor. But… her secret quote…
Hu: I want to pay for what I’ve done. But even then, I still want to live.
Like, that’s the most “blackened” line in history; do you wanna state your victim’s name while you’re at it? Part of me wants to say that’s too obvious and the line will have a different context, but… it’s a secret quote in the source code of her character page. It’s not that obvious to anyone who follows the series more casually.
-Eden: I could see the argument of Eden>Rose (and therefore Eden>Levi as he’s only there due to gender balancing), since our favorite Clockmaker is quite easy to imagine in a final trial setting. The main issue is that… assuming a more or less standard formula, it’d be sorta weird to have someone in the sixth trial who can out-hope speech the protag, and Eden definitely fits that bill. It’s possible she makes it, especially given her involvement in the pre-prologue scene with Xander’s eye, but idk.
Here are a few extra survivor configurations I could see happening! Obviously there’s plenty more, so watch absolutely none of them be right.
Teruko-J-Whit-Eden-Levi/Nico (Teruko MM or dead MM with no “two victims” case)
Teruko-J-Rose/Eden-Levi/Nico (Whit MM)
Teruko-Whit-Rose-Nico (J MM)
Teruko-J-Whit-Hu (Veronika MM)
Teruko-Whit-J-Rose/Eden-Levi-Min?!?! (Min MM)
Teruko-Rose-Eden-Whit-Levi/Nico-Min (Baking Squad Cope!!!)
Teruko-J-Whit-Veronika-Levi/Nico (Why not?)
Everyone (The only right answer)
Thanks a lot for the ask! Fun to ramble about this series lol.

whats ur opinion on dean elliot's scores for chuck jones's MGM shorts and the dr. seuss specials depatie-freleng made? i feel like he's an underrated composer and he needs more attention JUST how radically different his work was from eugene podanny (but still has charm)
IF NOTHING ELSE, his work is VERY amusing to me LOL. i actually haven't really paid attention to the Poddany scores that much to really fully differentiate between him and Elliot (Eugene Poddany is still the "he scored The Wearing of the Grin for some reason!" guy to me, i have a lot of revisiting to do in regards to Jones' T&J shorts).
i'm not really gung-ho on his music on the regular, but i am certainly fascinated by it. i always associate him with very '70s sounding choruses (which i am a bit nostalgic for, we'd watch Seuss on the Loose every year in elementary school for Dr. Seuss week and so songs like this and the flavor profile within are very nostalgic to me LOL) and i wholly admire the campiness for that reason. this is what i think of when i think of Dean Elliot, songs that sound like they play as radio jingles for Casey Kasem
youtube
AND, i will give him further credit, the only thing i can remember from A Connecticut Rabbit in King Arthur's Court besides the baffling decision to have Porky read a newspaper for about a minute straight--which is even excessive for me and i do not say that lightly--is the wah-wah guitars and disco-adjacent music stylings for... a 6th century jousting fight?
youtube
i'm moreso fascinated by his work than actually a fan/like it, but i genuinely admire the campiness
(ALSO if you’re on mobile and the timestamps don’t work, it’s 0:50 and 17:25 respectively)

The 80s Grue-Crew and guest Ralph Miller III take a trip to a hospital in Canada to diagnose Blue Monkey (1987). This one features the beginnings of an epidemic, some ludicrous laser shenanigans, an extraordinary amount of green goo, and a freaky larva that magically metamorphoses (we think) into a giant insect that begins killing patients in the now quarantined hospital. All of this is accomplished with some generally good effects work and an abundance of pseudo-sciencing. Steven Railsback, Gwynyth Walsh, Don Lake, Susan Anspach, and John Vernon jump into the fray, accompanied by Marwella and Dede, a pair of golden girls getting drunk in the background, and Robin Dukes and Joe Flaherty having their first baby. Ah, yes. Canadian horror has such a unique flavor. As you can tell, there’s plenty of material for our talkabout… even though there’s no actual blue monkey.
At the time of this writing, Blue Monkey (1987) is available to stream from Tubi and multiple PPV sources.
Every two weeks, Gruesome Magazine’s Decades of Horror 1980s podcast will cover another horror film from the 1980s. The next episode’s film, chosen by Jeff, will be Angel (1984), starring… wait for it… Rory Calhoun! Joining him are Donna Wilkes, Cliff Gorman, Dick Shawn, Susan Tyrrell, and John Diehl, all cavorting on the strip. Unfortunately, there’s a serial killer on the prowl.
Please let them know how they’re doing! They want to hear from you – the coolest, grooviest fans – so leave them a message or comment on the Gruesome Magazine Youtube channel, on the Gruesome Magazine website, or email the Decades of Horror 1980s podcast hosts at [email protected].

2023 readings: this is a ranking of books i read in this 1st semester of 2023.
details:
what i consider for my personal rating: story + writing + reading experience with a 0 to 5 stars standard;
reading experience is a main point for me to rate a book btw;
im not including on the list: uni readings, books i gave up on half way through or books i reread;
also not including mangas/graphic novels (i read too little this year so far its not worth mentioning);
im linking all the books to their storygraph pages;
books with a non english title means there's no official eng translation :/ ;
im always uncomfortable rating non-fiction books... so my rating in those cases considers only my personal reading experience.
books with a little heart means it became favorites!

thank you for your time,

Oh, of course, I don't mind talking about that. It was a Halloween party at a gay bar, I was Madonna. I don't do it regularly but I know the queens at Midtown.

CELEBRATING 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIP HOP, THE MUSEUM AT FIT PRESENTS FRESH, FLY, AND FABULOUS: FIFTY YEARS OF HIP HOP STYLE
The Museum at FIT (MFIT) presents Fresh, Fly, and Fabulous: Fifty Years of Hip Hop Style, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the birth of hip hop. The largest and most comprehensive exhibition to explore this revolutionary and influential style, this also marks the first time that the museum examines fashion exclusively through one musical genre. Over 100 garments and accessories capture the pivotal moments in hip hop fashion’s evolution, ranging from Kangol hats to custom Dapper Dan jackets and the Manolo Blahnik Okla Alta booties inspired by Timberland work boots. The exhibition is curated by Elena Romero, journalist and assistant chair of Marketing Communications at FIT, and Elizabeth Way, associate curator of costume at MFIT. Romero is the author of “Freestylin’: How Hip Hop Changed the Fashion Industry (2012).”
“It was important for The Museum at FIT to organize this exhibition, because hip hop—the most influential music genre of our era—has had such a profound impact on the world of fashion,” notes Dr. Valerie Steele, director and chief curator, MFIT. “Furthermore, hip hop fashion and music are cultural expressions of the African and Hispanic cultural diasporas, which MFIT seeks to amplify as part of our goal to expand the understanding of fashion.”
Visitors will see looks worn and made popular by artists Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, LL Cool J, Chuck D, Missy Elliot, Aaliyah, Khaled, and Cardi B, to name just a few. Fresh, Fly and Fabulous will also feature designs by 5001 Flavors, April Walker, Misa Hylton, Cross Colours, Karl Kani, Shirt King Phade of the Shirt Kings, FUBU, Rocawear, Wu Wear, Mecca USA, Baby Phat, Pelle Pelle, and Sean John, as well as Lee, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Versace, among many others.
A digital guide for Fresh, Fly and Fabulous: 50 Years of Hip Hop Style can be found at Bloomberg Connects, the free arts and cultural app created by Bloomberg Philanthropies. The Bloomberg Connects app, available for download from Google Play or the App Store, makes The Museum at FIT accessible for either onsite or offsite visits through photo, audio, and video features offering insights into the world of fashion and design. The digital guide goes behind the scenes of the museum with exclusive multimedia content about designers, exhibitions, programs, and conservation. Visitors can plan their visit, access helpful insights on site, and dive deeper into favorite works at home—anytime, anywhere. Guide highlights include interviews with hip hop experts, designer spotlights, and details about works from our collection, with new content added regularly.
The exhibition is accompanied by a book, Fresh, Fly, and Fabulous: 50 Years of Hip Hop Style, published by Rizzoli with a foreword written by Slick Rick, and a symposium on February 24 that will be free and open to the public.
Fresh, Fly, and Fabulous: Fifty Years of Hip Hop Style has been made possible thanks to the generosity of the Couture Council of The Museum at FIT and The Coby Foundation. Special thanks to Barrett Barrera Projects.The museum is open Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from noon to 8 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is free. All visitors are requested to review the latest safety guidelines and protocols. For more information and the latest MFIT updates, visit fitnyc.edu/museum; register for the MFIT newsletter; and follow the museum on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

In order to protect the reputation of the American space program, a team of NASA administrators turn the first Mars mission into a phony Mars landing. Under threat of harm to their families the astronauts play their part in the deception on a staged set in a deserted military base. But once the real ship returns to Earth and burns up on re-entry, the astronauts become liabilities. Now, with the help of a crusading reporter, they must battle a sinister conspiracy that will stop at nothing to keep the truth hidden. Credits: TheMovieDb. Connell Title Designer: Dan Perri Movie Reviews: John Chard: It’s a pleasure alright, and I don’t feel guilty about it at all!. A NASA space mission up to Mars fails to get off the ground due to major technical problems. Fearing funding could be taken away and wishing to avoid embarrassment, the powers that be decide to do a fake landing in a studio. With the astronauts forced to pretend that they are actually up on Mars, and fighting with their own personal belief systems, the government executives in charge fear that the fake flight could come to light. Upon learning that the outside world actually thinks they crashed upon reentering the earths atmosphere, the astronauts run for their lives knowing that the government can’t afford for the men to stay alive. Capricorn One is an excellent conspiracy picture that sadly seems to have been largely forgotten. Even today we are still hearing mooted stories of the landing on the moon actually being fake, so here director and writer Peter Hyams takes it and crafts a thrillingly taut piece of work. At the films heart is Elliot Gould’s (his great 70s work under valued) intrepid journalist, Robert Caulfield, after being nudged in the ribs by one of his friends at NASA, is himself under threat of death from shadowy government types who will think of nothing to offing him along with the astronauts. The film is split into two very significant halves, the first half is the set up, the conversations before and after the fake landing are clever and crucially attention grabbing, and of course we get to know our characters with the right amount of time. The film then shifts for the second half into a quality thriller chase movie, our main protagonists pursued by the government assassins courtesy of two gun toting helicopters. Jerry Goldsmith’s score brilliantly becoming part of the chase sequences, making the helicopters seem like death stalking machines operated by no man alone. We even get Telly Savalas joi...
