Eddie Brock x Male Reader
Request: So the idea I had was we have a low level criminal escaping back to his apartment after a run in with spider man….He is seething at having to ditch the money he stole in order escape….his fellow criminals have been arrested but he’s confident they won’t talk as he has always had a way of convincing people to protect him.
He then hears his next door Neibour blasting heavy metal music so loud ….the walls vibrate . He finally has enough and storms out there to thump on the door…and it swings open
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You and your friends went to a casino to steal money, getting to the back room didn't take long. One of your friends started a fight with a random stranger and the guards went to break up the fight, while you and the others went inside the back room. The safe is open, then you and the others start to put the money in the bag. But Spiderman came through the window and did his hero pose, now you panicked. You just don't want to go back to jail
“It’s not nice to steal,” Spiderman said.
Two of your friends took out their guns and started to shoot. But Spiderman starts to dodge the bullets while you hid under the desk. You saw your friends fight Spiderman but they lost easily. Spiderman tied them up and you see the window open, you have some of the money in your backpack. You run towards the window then Spiderman starts to chase you. You run through traffic and he is catching up to you.
You run through the alley, and a stranger opens the door to throw out the trash. You ran inside and you ran through the kitchen fast. You notice that you run into a restaurant, and then you run toward the bathroom. You take off your jacket, and ski mask then you throw it all in the trash can. You take the backpack and you leave the restaurant, you still can feel your heart racing extremely fast. Feels like your heart will jump out of your chest. You look around and you don't see Spiderman, you head to the train station and he doesn't catch you. You sit down and you sigh in relief and you can't wait to go home and rest.
You finally made it home and you closed the curtains. You start to count the money and you have close to seventeen thousand dollars. Now, you start to think about where to hide the money in your apartment. You start to walk around figuring out where to hide it.
———-
You were sleeping but the loud sound of music woke you up. The heavy metal music is so loud that you notice the walls vibrating. You leave your apartment and you start to knock on the door very hard.
“Hey!!!” You screamed.
Eddie hears the door then he opens it. Eddie is shirtless and sweaty and he is gearing at you, but you find him attractive.
“What?” Eddie said.
“Loud down the music, it's too loud,” You said.
You noticed Spiderman articles on the wall, but his face crossed out.
“I will turn it down. Don't bang on my door” Eddie said.
“Fine. I hate Spiderman too” You said.
You walked away before he said something. You closed the door and Eddie went back to work out then Venom came out.
“Why you didn't punch him?” Venom asked.
“He didn't do anything. At least we know he hates Spiderman” Eddie Said
“He isn't our enemy,” Venom said
———
For the past few days, you have been seeing Eddie around. He does notice when you check him out but he hasn't said anything about it.
“You really hate him?” Eddie asked.
He saw you rip a Spiderman article in half.
“Yeah, I do. I don’t understand why people worship him, he isn't a hero” You said.
“I agree, he isn't a hero. I never met someone who doesn't like him” Eddie said
“There is a lot you don't know about me,” You said.
“My name is Eddie Brock and I'm your neighbor,” Eddie said.
“You looked familiar. I used to read your article. I remember you wrote an article about Spiderman is a theif and you exposing Dr. Carlton Drake” You said.
“You read my articles?” Eddie asked in shock.
“Yeah, I have. I see you around, neighbor” You said.
He watched you walk away then Venom said something.
“You like him,” Venom said
“Mind your business, V” Eddie mumbled.
“I knew it!” Venom said too loud.
✯ ✫ ✯ ✬
Eddie invited you to his apartment. Eddie has some workout equipment in the living room, then you see all the Spiderman pictures and articles on the wall.
“I almost killed him, but the police ruined it,” Eddie said.
“How?” You asked.
You move closer to him and he stares into your eyes.
“I almost snapped his neck. I wanted to hear the bone snap. I thought about it many times how I would kill him. You don't seem freaked out by what I'm telling you” Eddie said.
“I would do anything to see that happen,” You said.
“Why, do you hate him so much?” Eddie asked.
“He isn't a hero. I helped my friend steal because he needed the money to help his grandfather with medical bills. Spiderman caught us while fighting him, my friend fell through the window and Spiderman didn't catch him. I lost my friend that day” You said.
“Sorry, about your friend,” Eddie said.
“I didn't like Spiderman before and I will never like him. I see you are training to fight him” You said.
You stare at his biceps.
“I am. The next time I see him, I will be stronger than him” Eddie said.
“Who is that girl next to you in the picture frame?” You asked.
“Someone I used to know. She sees me as a monster because I wanted to expose Spiderman for the fraud he is” Eddie said.
He grabs the frame and throws it in the trash can. You and Eddie started to talk about something else then he told you why he became a journalist.
———
Eddie trains every day in his apartment. He had to buy another punching bag because the old punching bag ripped. He is getting more buffed and he still wants to get stronger. On his breaks, he would go on his computer, and he would hack into the police website. He searched your name and You have a record and he is in shock, he thought you didn't have one. He starts to read your records then he starts to search for information on your parents and where you grew up.
“Searching information on your nerdy boyfriend?” Venom asked.
“He isn't my boyfriend and he isn't a nerd,” Eddie said.
“I notice how he looks at you, Eddie. He likes you” Venom said.
“Shut up, V” Eddie said
He continues to search for more information on you. But Venom won't stop teasing Eddie about you.
You noticed that Eddie doesn't leave his apartment. He doesn't play the music loud anymore and you developed a crush on him.
You are going home, you an alley then you notice Eddie. You go into the alley and you see something black take over his body. Your eyes opened wider and Venom noticed.
“Eddie?” You said.
You saw Venom eat the bad guy then he looked at you.
“We are Venom,” Venom said
Before you can get away, he grabs you and you can't move. He takes you to Eddie’s apartment and he doesn't let you go.
“What are you?” You asked
Now, you see Eddie’s face.
“He won't eat you,” Eddie said.
“I’m a Symbiote and Eddie is my host,” Venom said.
He lets you go but you don't run.
“You don't seem scared,” Eddie said.
“A little bit, but I'm glad he won't eat me,” You said.
“I thought you would be scared and you would tell someone,” Eddie said.
“I won't tell anyone, promise. I think it's cool, you that have a symbiote. You can kill Spiderman since you have venom” You said.
“We are getting stronger, Y/N,” Eddie said.
Eddie punched the punching bag so hard, that he made a hole. You are impressed and you can't help to smile. Eddie started to talk about how he wanted to rip Spiderman apart, you egged him on to talk about it. Venom wants to eat him and he likes you. You notice his laptop and you see your record
“Did you do a background check on me?” You asked.
You point at his laptop and he closes it.
“I’m a journalist, Y/N. You sure have a long rap sheet, Y/N. Fraud, identity theft, robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon and more” Eddie said.
“I had my reasons,” You said.
“But why a rich kid like you, would do commit crimes? That kept me thinking” Eddie said.
“If you must know, my parents were never around. If they were, they wouldn't spend time with me, because they would be busy with work. I turned to crime because I felt I was good at something. Why did you do a background check on me?” You said.
“Relax, I’m not going to call the cops,” Eddie said.
“And I won't tell them about you planning to kill Spiderman, so we are even,” You said.
“We are,” Eddie said.
Eddie likes having you in his apartment. He takes off his shirt but he has a tank top on, you notice his bicep got bigger.
“You are definitely stronger than Spiderman,” You said.
What you said boosted his ego. You notice his tattoos cover his scars and you keep staring at it. Eddie stands closer to you and you stare into his eyes, then he always about to kiss you but Venom appears.
You sit next to Eddie on the couch. He starts to open up and you start to do the same. Eddie hasn't felt connected to anyone in a long time. You and Eddie are sitting very close to each other and you ask questions about Venom and what he can do. You stayed all night in his apartment and you fell asleep. But Eddie puts a blanket on you, he didn't want to wake you up.
“You should kiss him goodnight,” Venom said.
“Shut up, we can't make too much noise” Eddie whispered.
“I don't want to wake up your boyfriend, sorry” Venom teased
“Go to sleep, V, or else” Eddie whispered
“Fine. Tell your boyfriend goodnight” Venom said.
Eddie rolled his eyes and Venom went to sleep. Eddie sleeps next to you and it doesn't take long for him to fall asleep.
✯ ✫ ✯ ✬
You and Eddie had a plan, but Eddie and Venom didn't want to wait any longer. You went along with it, in the alley Eddie starts to mug you. Spiderman was swinging around and he saw what was going on.
“Hey!” Spiderman said.
“You won't stop us,” Eddie said.
Venom takes over Eddie’s body. Venom starts to run and Spiderman starts to chase him towards the church. They start to fight on the roof of the church. Venom grabbed him but Spiderman kicked him In the stomach, and he let go of Spiderman. You start to run towards the church and hope everything goes to plan. Venom managed to use his claw to scratch Spiderman on the chest and he started to bleed. Venom used his tentacles to grab Spiderman and slammed him hard onto the ground. Spiderman used his webs to cover Venom’s face and it worked, he managed to get away from his tentacles.
“I’m going to kill you!” Venom yelled.
Venom was close to biting him. But he managed to throw some punches and Spiderman was badly injured. But Spiderman started to move the bell and kept creating loud noises, that Venom couldn't handle it. You arrived at the church And Venom left Eddie’s body. Spiderman kicked Eddie off the roof and he fell on the second floor. You yelled for Venom when you saw Eddie fall, Venom went towards you.
You feel different and powerful. You can hear Venom talking to you in your mind. You struggled to get to the bell but you managed to stop it. You went to check on Eddie and he is passed out but he is going to make it. You went back to the bell and you managed to break it loose. Spiderman was going to punch you but you used Venom’s tentacles to grab him. You slammed him into the wall hard, then slammed him onto the ground. Spiderman is badly injured again then You start to punch him.
“You don't deserve to be a hero!” You screamed.
You kept punching him in the face then he started to bleed. You stand up now Spiderman struggled to get up. You make him chase you now you two are standing in front of the bell. Venom left and he went to get Eddie, he started to heal Eddie.
“This is the end, Spiderman,” You said.
“It’s not the end, I'm taking you two to jail” Spiderman
Spiderman is feeling weak but he doesn't want to give up. Eddie tackled Spiderman, you watch Eddie punch Spiderman in the face multiple times. Peter spits out blood then Eddie gets up and Peter puts his hand on the wall to help him stand up. Eddie used all his strength to push the bell towards Peter, you are in shock.
“He is dead, I can't believe it,” You said.
You and Eddie notice the blood, he moves the bell away from Peter. You checked his pulse and you smiled at Eddie.
“No more Spiderman” You smiled.
“Good” Eddie smirked.
You left with Eddie to his apartment. You and Eddie can't stop smiling because Spiderman is dead. Eddie takes off his shirt and he has some cuts, then you start to clean the wounds. Eddie pulled you towards him and he started to kiss you, he wrapped his arms around you. You feel his grip but you don't stop kissing him.
“Stay the night, Y/N” Eddie said.
“Okay, I will,” You said.
You start to kiss him again.
✯ ✫ ✯ ✬
It's been all over the news that Spiderman is dead. The cops don't have a lead on who did it, you and Eddie are able to live life fine. You and Eddie didn't put any label on the relationship, mainly just taking it slow and just dating.
You spent the night again at his place. You are lying on your back and Eddie comes out of the bathroom shirtless and has boxers on.
“You dyed your hair blonde, wow,” You said.
“Don’t like it?” Eddie asked.
“I didn't say that. You look different and hot” You said.
Eddie crawls on the bed and he lies on top of you. He starts to kiss you and you two start to smile. Then you start to touch his hair and you kiss him again
“I like the color” You smiled.
“We should go away and celebrate that the bug is gone” Eddie smiled.
He starts to kiss your neck.
“I like the idea. I have the money I stole from the casino, we could use that” You smiled
“Let’s leave tonight” Eddie smiled
You nod and he starts to kiss you again. Venom showed Eddie how you looked when you two teamed up, and Eddie was impressed. How he looks with Venom is a lot different from how you look with Venom.

The Estranged
Eddie sipped on his beer as the news covered the release of William Fisk. Cameras continuously flashed as he left the guarded gates of the prison to his car. Reporters instantly swarmed the armed vehicle, pounding on the glass and trying to take a peek through the tinted windows.
“What’s the point in bothering the guy?” the bartender muttered, “It’s not like he’s gonna say anything new.”
Eddie whipped out his phone and sent a quick text to you and Dora before paying for his drink. He slid off of his stool and headed out, worried about how vague your replies had been for the past few days. Whenever he asked about the blackout, you would say that your boss was looking into it and that there was only so much you knew about it.
When he had gone into Life Foundation to meet Dora, she had told him about the Super Collider that Doctor Octavius had been building for Fisk before he died. He wondered why you hadn’t told him about it, unless there was something else that you were hiding from him. It was clearly something important for someone to break into Life to steal the blueprints and powerful enough to wipe out the power lines in a big portion of New York City.
With that thought in mind, he sent another text, one to Anne to check up on you. If you won’t tell him what was going on, surely you’d tell Anne.
-
The key to getting the Spider Squad back into their own universes had finally been put together. The problem was, when they had left to look for the Collider, it seemed to have been tampered with or overloaded and broken. They hoped that there would be enough data left behind that could tell them what was going on.
“There were attempts,” Peter said, looking at the data, “of trying to get it to work.”
“But tampering with space and time isn’t like opening a door from point A to point B,” Tony added, crossing his arms. “These are rifts to different universes. Whatever went wrong had caused all of you to end up here. Which raises another question; who the hell is doing this? Fisk had been squatting in jail and Doc Ock had been killed from a lab accident. That building had been completely shut down.”
Gwen stood next to Peter, eyes scanning the data projected in front of her. If the person who had messaged her is who she thinks it is, that must mean that the failed Collider had brought her to this universe as well. But, that also means that it ruled her out as a possible suspect that could have tampered with the Collider.
“How’s Peni and Noir?” Peter asked her softly.
Gwen grimaced. “They’re dealing with it. Miles is helping (Y/n) and their team to monitor them. For now, they’ve got a temporary stabilizer working, but they need to go in every day to get it checked.”
“And you?”
“I’m feeling it more. So is Miles… We’ll figure it out, Peter,” she assured him.
“Yeah? Did you have a Peter in your universe that always figured things out?”
“I had. He was one of my best friends. He couldn’t figure out everything, but at least he admitted it… most of the time… and reached out for help. With all of us together, I know we can fix this.”
She squeezed his shoulder and walked away towards the elevator. There was something that she needed to be sure of, but she didn’t want to bring it up and distract Peter about the current task at hand. Gwen knew that you were currently with Peni and Noir and went straight to the lab.
You were reviewing different designs that could configure Tony’s iron glove into an atomic stabilizer of sorts while your team was doing their routine check up on Peni and Noir. Miles sat on the side nervously, eyes flicking back and forth between his two new friends and you. No one knew how long it was going to take to solve this and no one knew how long they had until they were ripped apart as their atoms tried to get them back to their original universes. Miles was a big help in relaying information to you, what it was like being pulled through the portal, when exactly each person started feeling the side effects, and what that experience was like, so that you had a better understanding of what you were dealing with.
Gwen sat down at one of the stools nearest you, waiting for the right moment to speak. Once Peni and Noir’s check up was finished, they made their way back to their rooms, doctor’s orders. Miles got up from his seat, glancing at Gwen who gestured for him to go ahead. He nodded, resting a hand on Peni’s head as the three of them left.
You turned away from the screen, raising an eyebrow at Gwen. She exhaled slowly, turning on the stool to fully face you.
“Who do you think would have tampered with the Collider?” Gwen asked.
You shrugged. You weren’t expecting her to ask you that kind of question, figuring that it was already something that had been discussed with the others. “It would have to be someone from this universe who could have used it, but all the ones I know from the top of my head wouldn’t have been able to, and yet -”
Your phone interrupted your train of thought, Anne’s name popping up on the screen. “I need to… hold on a second.”
Gwen nodded. “It’s okay.”
“Hello?”
“Hey, (Y/n/n), how’s everything over there?” Anne asked.
“It’s… complicated, to say the least. How about over there? Has Dora found anything yet?”
You heard her sigh, followed by a thud, which you assume was her briefcase. She must have just gotten home. “More like someone found her. Eddie had gone to see her when the lab was broken into. He made it just in time, too. Her and Scream had been locked in one of the symbiote test chambers by someone who really needed those Super Collider blueprints.”
“What? Who?” Your eyes caught Gwen shifting uneasily in her seat.
“I don’t know. Eddie said it was this girl in a black and gray costume. A red mask was covering her face. Oh, and she’s also from another universe. He didn’t really have the time or eloquence to properly explain it to me, but I think I got the gist. So, parallel universes, huh?”
“Something like that. Does this mysterious woman shoot webs or anything?”
Anne huffed. “She did. From her fingers, apparently. Would the Avengers know anything about that?”
“Yeah, we do, actually. I’m going to call you back later today, Annie, I just need to deal with something right now.”
“Alright. Please keep us updated,” Anne pleaded, “We were worried.”
“I will. Bye.”
You leaned an arm against your desk, taking a moment to process this new information. “There was another spider person that was brought here,” you started, “Is that why you came to me?”
Gwen nodded. “She… Cindy was a friend of mine. I thought I was the only one that got bitten by the radioactive spider, but she did, too. When our friend died, she didn’t take it too well. She lost her family not long after. It was like a switch had gone off and she suddenly became this other person.”
“Right, so she would have a good enough reason to set off the Collider, but she’s from your universe. There would be no way that it was her.” You plopped down on the seat next to Gwen, taking her hand. “She took the blueprints for the Super Collider, Gwen. I also want to know who activated it in the first place, but if she manages to get that machine up and running again, who knows what will happen.”
“I know. There’s so much going on right now and I needed to tell someone. She contacted me, that’s how I knew that she was here. If we go after her, she’ll be prepared to go against us.” She squeezed your hand, ducking her head as a heaviness settled in her chest. “I don’t want to fight her. I don’t want to lose another friend.”
“I understand,” you said softly. “Let’s hope it won’t come down to that.”
-
It took a while, but Eddie managed to contact someone to help hack into Carlton’s old computer and unearth his hidden files. Together, Eddie and Dora sorted through any potential leads that could give them answers about the Collider and anyone else who had access to it before the lab was destroyed. So many projects that were pitched to Carlton that he had saved and locked away.
He had his chance of being a hero, of making a difference. Tony Stark had even tried many times to reach out to him, and that was saying something. From the notes that Dora found, he had been exchanging correspondences with Doctor Octavius a few years back, discussions on possible project collaborations and the Collider.
Doctor Octavius found out why Fisk wanted the Collider and continued to build it for his own curiosity. If it were to fail, he’d make sure that Fisk would not have the blueprints. Thanks to the discovery of the symbiotes, all of that was put on the backburner as long as the blueprints were safely hidden from everyone. Fisk wasn’t the only one that was interested in interdimensional traveling.
Eddie had left an hour ago to see if he could get an interview with Fisk when a video call from Stark Towers pulled Dora away from the files. She answered without looking at who it was, writing down notes as she spoke. “I just found a couple of things that could be useful. I can send the files now,” she said.
“That would be great,” Carlton said, a small smirk on his face when Dora jumped.
“Doctor Drake, I… ,” she cleared her throat, taking a moment to compose herself. This wasn’t her boss Carlton Drake, the one who killed innocent people and threatened her family. This person hadn’t done anything to you, she reminded herself. “I’m surprised they allowed you access.”
He chuckled. “Yes, well, they’ve got an Avenger monitoring me, so it’s not free reign.” He glanced over his shoulder at Bucky who was watching him closely. “So, what skeletons have you found in my evil twin’s closet?”
Dora adjusted her glasses. “I don’t know if it’s appropriate to call him evil twin. For all we know, you could be lying about yourself as well.”
“That is true, but the Tony Stark from my universe can vouch for me on this,” Carlton countered. He lowered his gaze, frowning. “Why did (Y/n) stay with me for so long? Why couldn’t they just leave if I was so horrible?”
“You need to ask them yourself,” she said with a sigh. “What about you?”
“What?” He raised his head
“What about you and the (Y/n) from your universe. What happened?”
He licked his lips, his shoulders slumping. Talking about it was inevitable and he had been waiting for the right time to do so with you, but there was never a right time. Dr. Dora Skirth was one of if not the most trusted researcher at Life Foundation and also your close friend. Surely, she was safe to confess to.
“It wasn’t pretty. I was careless and the project just got out of hand. When (Y/n) tried to contain it, they got hurt. They got hurt pretty bad and, uh, our attempts to save them failed. They‘re gone now… because of me.”
The silence stretched on, tugging on his anxiety. This universe’s Carlton Drake was quickly established as someone that nobody could ever trust again, a danger to himself and those around him due to his ambitions. Now that he had confessed that his actions in his own universe had endangered you, what will they think of him now?
Dora let out another heavy sigh as she fixed her glasses. “Look…,” she paused trying to articulate her words, “I hope you know that our (Y/n) is not the same as your (Y/n) and that you’re not using them as some replacement.”
“No. No, of course not. I just… I just miss them, you know, and seeing their face again… Alive.” Carlton gave her a melancholy smile. “I wanted to get to know them more. We were supposed to sit down and talk, but my and the others’ condition is getting worse. We can only estimate how long we each have before it tears us apart.”
He seemed genuine enough. The rest was all up to you whether you wanted to interact with him or not. Dora trusted you to make that decision, so she didn’t continue with that subject.
“I’m sending you guys what I’ve found so far,” she said.
-
Fisk strolled through the desolate penthouse, surprised to see almost everything intact. He picked a competent security team. Or so he thought.
Striding over to his desk, there was an old file folder with a post it note attached to the top.
“We need a scientist and I know just the place to find them -S,” it read in neat script.
He flipped the file open, inhaling sharply at the contents. The blueprints for the collider. He can resume what he started. Whoever this person is, he’ll have to leave the rest to them.

I’ll Help You
PART 1
Summary: Carlton Drake has officially crossed the line in terms of morale and humanity. He’s threatened your boss, Dr. Skirth, to manipulate her into staying with the project just as he’s manipulated all the victims he’s putting at risk to further his own twisted research. And once you witness a man die right in front of you because of it, you couldn’t continue on. Shamefully enough, you’re too scared to leave, you know how Carlton is and it terrifies you to no end so when Dr. Skirth comes up with the idea to involve an ex investigative journalist, your desperation gets the better of you and you agree to tag him along. You find yourself spending more and more time with him until it seems like you can’t pry yourself away and he grows increasingly protective of you when you vulnerably express your fears to him.

You looked to your left at Dr. Skirth and smiled as the yellow symbiote merged successfully with the rabbit. It’d been months with failure after failure but not for nothing. You learned from each failure and changed according to that.
Dr. Skirth lit up as she observed the white creature in the box in front of her. You knew this project was a team effort but you were biased so all your pride centered around her. You were there alongside her when she trudged through the nights at the lab trying to make progress in the beginning. You’d ran to go get her coffee or ice water, whichever she was in the mood for at the time. On multiple occasions you’ve woken her up and pulled her from her drool drenched papers to walk her to the break room so she could rest on the couch. Then, the next morning, you showed up with two coffees in tow, one for the doctor and one for you, of course.
Dr. Skirth had graciously taken you under her wing months before this project came into existence. She’d needed an assistant for quite some time but never admitted it to herself, her explanation being that if she was tired then she was making progress through those late nights. But at a family party the word had gotten out that she had finally caved and was taking applications for the position. Now, you knew hardly anything about science excluding the little you retained in high school and whatever you managed to get through in college, but once you offered your help, she brought you onto the team anyway. You were beyond grateful. Although science wasn’t necessarily the way you thought your life would be heading, you figured as long as you could learn something new and enjoy yourself while doing it, there was no harm in leaping into that career field. It took a few months before you could actually assist on any physical labs but while you were getting her coffee and inserting her notes into a hard drive, you’d managed to teach yourself equations and terminology that went along with her field of work. She never held you back when she was certain you could advance and for that you thanked whatever gods were listening that your cousin married her because although your job description was to help her, she had really helped you in more ways than you could recall.
So, yeah. You were pretty proud of this intelligent woman standing on your left. But your cheery attitude dispersed quickly at Carlton’s words, “It’s too soon,” you cut him off, knowing exactly where he was going with his orders.
Carlton raised an eyebrow at you, his mouth hanging half open. It wasn’t a secret that Drake loathed you for some reason. Practically from the first day you arrived he’d had it out for you, he tried to demean you in front of anyone who was unfortunate enough to be present and when you would simply turn away from his childish behavior, he tried to continue and crawl his way under your skin.
Now, you didn’t necessarily think Carlton Drake was a bad guy, up until recently, that is. The way he spoke to children was always kind and genuine, he would never inhibit great potential and he appreciated intelligence like no other (you know, since it benefitted him) but after his most recent scandal with getting a man fired who had been prodding his nose deep into things that should’ve stayed buried and trying to wipe his hands clean of the deaths that he was responsible for, you’d changed your mind on what you thought of him.
“We’re not ready for human testing yet, it’d be unethical-” Dora tried to explain but you both knew her logic would fall on greedy, deaf ears.
You opened your mouth to back her up, already bursting with anger at his arrogant demands but once he’d mentioned Skirth’s children, your jaw shut hard enough to make you look into a mirror later and check for cracked teeth.
“How are your children by the way?” He asked, obviously not giving a damn how they were and trying to get his underlying meaning across.
Your jaw clenched and your throat tightened with fury. How dare this arrogant, greed-driven businessman threaten your fucking family. If he weren’t so powerful you would've killed him right then and there. But then again, if he wasn’t so powerful, his words wouldn’t have instilled the fear that they did.
-
“What a fucking psychopath!” You shouted after Dora closed the door to her office.
The volume of your voice made her flinch and you could tell she was fighting the urge to turn around and check to see if he was coming, “Please keep your voice down, (Y/N).” she lowered her hands to motion silence and when she thought the coast was clear she sighed, “But yeah. Psychotic,”
She walked around the edge of her desk and sat in its waiting chair before bringing her hands up to her head and rubbing it, “You don’t have to participate in this,” she offered, catching your attention away from the overwhelming anger coursing through you. “You could leave, keep your hands clean of this . . . and your conscious,”
You looked down at her then, her white lab coat stained with sweat from worry and the creases in her face now deep with guilt. Would you look like that if you continued working here? For Carlton? Would your conscious weigh down on you like the sky on Atlas’ shoulders? Would it be too much for you to bear with? Would people actually die from Carlton’s orders? Would you be there to be a part of it?
Dora still sat there, her thin fingers trying to block the light from her eyes. She was tired and worn from her head position and if it weren't for the obvious bags under her eyes, she’d look like a defenseless puppy waiting for rescue. Or, waiting for punishment. She was preparing for the toll that continuing with his orders would take on her.
“I’m not leaving you,” you responded without much thought. “Lord knows working for Carlton is hell in itself but possibly getting blood on your hands, that’s not something anyone can take alone,” you weren’t saying you were happy with your decision and if it had been anyone else you would’ve left them long ago when Drake’s dark side began to ascend but to leave Dora alone with this psycho? No way. Besides, it’s not like you had much of a choice, he’d threatened your family and if you left knowing what you already do, there’d be consequences.
“I’m sorry,” Dora whimpered, her body shaking a bit, “I never should’ve agreed to let you assist.” She shook her head in her hands and sucked in shaky breaths, “I’m so sorry,”
“Dora,” you whispered, grabbing your chair from the nearby desk and pulling it beside her, “I’m in this with you.” You placed your hand gently on her shoulder and squeezed reassuringly, “We’ll walk through hell burnt and scathed but we’ll make it out all the same,”
Her ragged breathing slowly steadied and you didn’t pull away until she shifted in her seat and sat back up, wiping her tears with the back of her hand as she did so, “I sure hope so,”
-
You nearly threw up at the sound of his bones breaking. His bones. Isaac’s bones. This poor man who Carlton swept up off the street promising safety in return for a lethal service. He wasn’t even completely aware what he was getting himself into. You’d spoken to him briefly right before he entered the lab, he seemed kind. In a sad sort of way. Like, he’d had no other choice but to be.
So when Carlton barely scanned over the dead body of his volunteer and called to bring the next one out, you tried to step out of the room slyly. You were scared what Drake would do if he sensed any form of weakness coming from you so you excused yourself to go to the bathroom and left quietly.
You shuffled to the women’s bathroom and slammed the heavy door shut behind you before locking it. You whipped around, your back clashing against the cold surface of the door and slid down, the friction bringing your shirt up ever so slightly. You grabbed the collar of your lab coat and chucked it across the room, trying to distance yourself from the growing heat. You’d already managed to sweat through your shirt in multiple places but in order to avoid suspicion from Drake you grabbed a hand towel and tried to pat yourself dry.
You just watched someone die. A person. Like, a real person. A human being. This wasn’t some controlled science experiment that your chemistry teacher supervised and had to give permission to move onto the next step. This was a risky and unethical and overall inhumane kind of experiment that you couldn’t go home and tell anyone about when the reality of a lost life has settled into your aching bones.
You couldn’t tell anybody. You couldn’t tell anyone.
   You had to tell someone.
   -
“Ya know, hiding in plain sight is difficult enough for one of you but with two of you, it’s even worse. A blind man could see you from miles away,”
And that’s how we’re here right now. Dora came up with the idea to search for Eddie Brock, the man who Drake had gotten fired when he’d asked a few questions that he found just a tad bit too intrusive.
“Okay look,” she started when we’d been caught, although it was clear from the beginning that we’d been caught by the way he’d kept looking over his shoulder all the way up this block.
You looked at the man with the creased forehead and plump lips. So this was the guy who wasn't scared to go up against one of the most powerful guys in the state. He looked like shit. Literally. Bags that could burden any shoulder that carried it and deep grooves that showed months of constant and deep guilt.
You were too busy trying to size this man up to pay attention to what Dora was telling him but when they were suddenly making a beeline towards the exit, you flashed the lady at the counter a small smile and slammed your body into the closing door.
The cool wind danced past your face and in through your thin coat. You shivered with the sensation and stepped to the side to follow wherever Brock was taking Dora.
“Who’s this?” Brock asked Dora, finally looking at you since the convenience store.
Your eyebrows lifted and you looked between the two, “Oh, I’m suddenly part of this conversation?” You sassily spoke and took a protective step closer to Dora.
“This is (Y/N), she’s my assistant, she can confirm everything I’m telling you,” she hastily spoke, handing him a piece of paper with our numbers written on them, “This is how you can get into contact with us,”
Eddie hesitantly took the crumbled paper into his hand and stared down at the sloppily scrawled phone numbers. His mouth twitched, as if uncertain and his shoulders raised a bit.
“People are dying Mr. Brock,” I spoke up, taking note of his hesitance, “We don’t know where else to go. He’s already threatened our family and . . .” you began to trail off, rubbing your clammy hands together and looking at the lights coming from the shops on the opposite side of the street, “I think he knows I’m scared,” You admitted, remembering how Carlton looked at you once you returned from the bathroom. “He’d know it was me,” you pleaded, trying to level with the burlyish man in front of you.
He studied you hard and for what was probably too long. His eyes scanned over your face, stopping at almost every feature you had before meeting your eyes at last.
“Please,” You begged again, “I’ve never seen anything like this,” you chewed back the words that dried up your tongue. You hadn’t told Dora how scared you were because she’d never forgive herself if she knew of the fear that consumed you or if she knew that every sound you heard in your house caused you to jump out of your socks in paranoia. “I’ve never been so scared for anyone before . . . these people are being manipulated with safety and security but don’t know the cost they have to pay,” you pried your gaze away from the hypnotizing lights and settled on his eyes, another thing to get hypnotized by, “Not to mention how scared I am for myself,” you whimpered.
“(Y/N),” Dr. Skirth softly spoke, placing her hand on your shoulder, causing you to look down in shame.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you,” you felt a trail of water trickle down your face and you fought against the urge to sniffle, “I didn’t want to leave you alone there, not with Carlton threatening your kids,”
You glued your sight to your shoes and how they traded your weight between each other, From this angle, you could see Eddie’s hand twitch slightly upwards towards you before his opening hand closed and lowered back down to his side.
Embarrassed with your vulnerability, you scurried away from the both of them back towards Dora’s car and waited for the conversation to wrap itself up.
Minutes later, Dora crawled into the driver’s seat of the car and sighed before turning on the ignition.
   “What’d he say?” you asked.
She remained quiet for a second then put the car in reverse, “We’ll have to wait and see,”
-
The rest of the night guilt racked you and kept you from another night of, let’s be honest, unpleasant sleep. Although you truthfully were scared for yourself, you felt bad for bringing yet another victim into this business and the fact that you depended on him for some sort of false safety made you almost as gullible as Carlton’s blissfully ignorant test subjects.
You almost regretted getting Mr. Brock involved when your phone vibrated in your hand. You pulled your gaze from the ceiling and looked at the unknown number sprawled across the screen.
You slowly brought the phone up to your ear after answering the call and let out a chest achingly slow breath, “Hello?”
“It’s Eddie, um, Eddie Brock,” he sounded uncertain, like he wasn’t sure why he called you, “Listen . . . I’ll help,”

Video games! Specifically a new marvel avengers based one where you get to pick any character from the marvel universe, who ever and what ever they maybe. Well that’s exactly what happens but you must choose wisely cause you don’t know what the future brings.
Authors note:

Warning: cursing here and there along with thoughts of insanity. (Mainly from the from the four main players)
Tumblr media
POV-(y/n)
They open the barrel and out comes that slimy thing to invade my body and take control. I close my eye and only cry more, with all the fucked up shit that has been going on this year and we only half way. I guess I never gave myself the chance to process it all and now this I can’t take anymore. I want to go home. The thing finally attaches itself to me and slowly hose up my leg. I’m hyperventilating too much I think I’m going to pass out.
I feel nothing for the first few seconds then they become minutes. I finally open my eyes and look to all the confused scientists' faces hoping to find an answer to what just happen? Then the droc sitting at the computer speaks.
“She and the symbiote have successfully bonded and her vital signs are normal. “The Doctor says solemnly.
POV- third person
Carlton smiles gleam of success shining in his eyes. “Wonderful well let’s go to the next stage and prepare for the first set of the testing.” The rest of the Doctors look at him like he’s crazy.
“Sir don’t you think it’s best to let her rest before we continue-”
Carlton does a full 180 on him. “What do you mean?”
“I-I mean we should just let the symbiote adjust to their new found host and see if it rejects them after a while maybe?” He’s looks to the others for help seemingly. Everyone shakes their head in approval of the statement.
Dr. Skirth then speaks up on behalf of everyone. “Sir he could be right and on the other half we also have so many others to bond with their respective host. Giving them some time might just be thing we’ve been missing from the others and like you say she might have “poor design.” She looks to Drake then to the girl strapped to the table looking ready to die as if that was her only escape. “Also look at her she looks extremely dehydrated and malnourished. We want to make sure that were able to take care of the symbiot properly. Don’t we?”
Drake looks to the ground and contemplation. “Fine we will make sure she’s up and ready for the incoming test. In the meantime we should test the rest of the host but first get her in a cell we can’t have her going anywhere.” The doctors immediately start scrambling and one of them pushes a button on the dash, smoke all of a sudden starts flooding the room and your vision goes black.
POV-(y/n)
After waking I found myself in a room that was cold, really really cold. I’m still trying to wrap my head around all this but nothing seemed to make sense.
‘This seems like real life but at the same time all of this happening in a game right?’
‘A game’
“AHHHHHH WHO SAID THAT!” I got to my feet in a flash and looked around for anyone that could of said that. There was no one near me not even the security guards were around.
‘Did I even say that out loud’
‘No’
I quickly turn “WHO SAYING THAT!?” There’s nothing in here with me am I going mental?
“Hello?”
“AH!” I push myself up against the wall facing the main door and see the same female doctor from last time.
“Hey it’s ok I’m not here to hurt you just wanna help.”

Assistance
[Carlton Drake x Reader] Summary: Working for Carlton Drake isn’t easy, but it might have its perks.
Request:  carlton drake x assistant! reader? where the reader is the one always pestering carlton to eat whenever he stays up and one day he pisses off the reader, making her take a long leave and then he realizes he likes her? 'm sorry its so long >'w'< (I really hope where i went with this is alright with you!!)
Word Count: 1,400+
Warnings: Implied smut, mentions of sex
A/N: I figured I’d post this until I can get my Venom smut finished. I hope you all like it! My Venom requests are open! If you would like to be tagged in future works let me know!
Being Carlton Drake’s assistant was never easy. You were kept in the dark about most things in the beginning, while still having to take care of his business at the same time. You had heard many things about his work, a lot of which you guessed to have been true.
You watched the way he had reacted when Eddie brought that stuff up in the interview. You knew whatever was going on behind your back was shady and deplorable. And yet, you stayed by Carlton’s side through it all.
At first you needed the job. Carlton was paying good money for someone who was basically his glorified errand girl, so you stayed. You stuck by his side, not really knowing anything that was going on. And you found out about most of the tests he had been running. But, you still stayed.
You didn’t know why at first, but then you realized... Somewhere along the way, through all of these awful experiments, running to get files, bringing him his morning coffee, you developed these feelings. Ones you weren’t sure you were shaking off anytime soon. You had told yourself time and time again to stop feeling that way, but then his hand would brush yours or his eyes would stay on you a second too long and these hot, horrible feelings would resurface.
It wasn’t love, far from it. You were sure you couldn’t love someone like Carlton, especially once he started the human experimenting. Getting homeless people to sign wavers they couldn’t comprehend for his own gain.
You didn’t love Carlton. You lusted for him.
Every time he entered the room, no matter the amount of people surrounding you, you wanted him to push you against the all and raw you on sight.
The chance of that happening was slim. Carlton was only into his work, not you, his meek assistant, who was just trying to get by. He had more to worry about. He had his horrible experiments to attend to.
“Mr. Drake?” you approached him with his morning coffee.
“Hm?”
“It’s been a while since you’ve eaten something, if you want I can grab you a muffin, or anything, from the cafeteria?”
“No.”
He took the coffee from you, his hand brushing yours ever so lightly. Your face scrunched at his short answer and you pulled your hand back from him.
“You really do worry about me too much.”
“Well, when I see someone not taking care of themselves-”
“I take care of myself, Y/N.”
He had gotten very short with you lately. Ever since Eddie’s interview with him, ever since he started trying to get symbiotes to bond with real live people, he had gotten more focused on his projects.
“Mr. Drake, I’m just trying to help you, that’s what I’m here to do.”
His hand slammed onto the desk and you reeled back. He stood up and looked at you with anger in his eyes.
“I don’t need your help at the moment.”
He had lost a symbiote recently, leaving him angrier than usual. Most of the time he was calm, collected, cool, but very recently cracks started to show; leaving you a little more frazzled than usual. He had never snapped at you before that moment. You weren’t used to be talked to that way by him, leaving you reeling.
Most of the time, when you reminded him to eat, drink water, take care of himself, he would just nod at you, and quietly wave you off to your next errand. But recently he grew more agitated with every gentle reminder.
“Mr. Drake,” you tried to keep yourself together, “if there is anything else you need-”
“I know, call you.”
You turned away from your boss and walked from the room. You trailed down the halls and made your way towards the entrance of the facility. You needed to cool off. You needed a break. You were done.
You weren’t sure what was going to happen to you, you knew too much. But you would worry about that in the morning. Or when someone was sent after you.
Your hands were held behind you as you were escorted through the back of the Life Foundation. You were absolutely terrified of what was about to happen. You were generously told about what had happened to Dr. Skirth, sending chills down your spine.
At least if I’m lucky, I’ll become a huge monster.
You didn’t want to think about being forcefully bonded with some symbiote. The chance of death was high, you had seen first hand what happened to some of the volunteers. You began to pray that Carlton would pity you and just give you your job back.
As you neared the heart of the facility you felt your heart starting to pound in your chest. You were getting closer and closer to your possible demise and nothing could prepare you for anything that was about to happen.
You were pushed through a doorway and you stumbled inside, falling as the person holding you released your arms. You pushed yourself up to your knees and looked upwards, through your lashes.
“You can leave now,” Carlton looked at the people who dragged you in.
You you were frozen in your spot, down on your knees looking at Carlton with pleading eyes. Carlton stared down at you, his hands clasped together in front of him and his head cocked to the side.
“I was beginning to worry they wouldn’t find you.”
“Mr. Drake,” your voice cracked as you tried to cover for yourself, “I promise I didn’t tell a soul. I, I just needed a break-”
“A break?”
“Um,” you clenched your eyes shut for a moment, gathering your thoughts, “I was tired of you getting snappy with me. I wasn’t being treated properly.”
Carlton stepped towards you and squatted down to your level. He gave you a concerned look, he didn’t look upset at all, but you could feel his anger. You swallowed hard, your mouth going dry.
“Stand up,” Carlton stuck out his hand and you hesitantly grabbed it. He gently pulled you up, standing with you.
“I can’t just let you get away with leaving like that,” Carlton kept a level voice, but something was off. You could tell something about him had changed.
“What do you plan on doing?”
Carlton gave you a soft smile and stepped closer to you. His hand cupped your face and his eyes were boring into yours. You felt your heart stop once his warm hand met your cool cheek.
“I’m not sure yet,” Carlton’s fingers gently ran down your cheek and to your jaw, “the only thing I’m certain of right now is that I need your assistance.”
You blinked up at him. He was so close to you, his hand still on your skin. You wanted nothing more than for him to take you right then and there. You tried to remind yourself of everything he had done, but his soft brown eyes held you captive. You could only think about everything he could possibly do to you in the best ways.
“You were gone for a whole week, Y/N.” Carlton’s hand fell from your face, “I didn’t realize how much I needed you until then.”
Oh, he just wants me back as an assistant.
“How much I craved you.”
Your mouth fell open and your stared at Carlton wide eyed. He stepped forward, causing you to take a step back. Your back pressed to the door behind you and you took a deep breath. Carlton had cornered you.
“Do tell me you feel the same way, Y/N.”
His voice was dangerously quiet. You could only nod at him, causing his brows to furrow. He pursed his lips and gave you a quizzical look. He was waiting for you to be verbal about your feelings.
“Yes,” Your voice was low and breathy, but you managed to speak, “I absolutely feel the same.”
Carlton smiled at you, bringing his face only inches from yours. He stared at you a moment, keeping you backed in your corner.
“Now, what are we going to do about your leaving?
You bit the inside of your lip, swallowing hard, “I think I have a few ideas.”
Carlton pressed his lips to yours feverishly, his hand moving to your hip. You kissed back, only for him to quickly pull away.
“Please, do share your thoughts.”

Science & Faith | Carlton Drake x Reader (1/?)
Words: 1962
A/N: Look who's back with this sequel series that was promised almost three years ago??? A side-note, since this is in the Venom-verse, it is separate from the MCU... for now. There will be some switching back and forth between different AUs, but again, the MCU is not added in this series.
Summary: You and Carlton used to be the vision of an ideal relationship and everything had been almost effortlessly, but there were things below the surface that many, even you, did not know or had just denied. After breaking away from Carlton and learning of his demise, you try to start anew back at New York where, just as things were looking up, someone who mysteriously looks a lot like him is given a second chance to make things right. Whether you choose logic or your heart is up to you.
Sequel Series to [Apples & Cinnamon] Pre-Venom, Current Series Post-Venom
---
The Blackout - Part One
It had been years since you lived in New York and while the business of the streets were no different than San Francisco, the vibe was different. You couldn’t quite place it, but you knew it had something to do with your current situation. Last time you were in New York, you were a clumsy medical student studying to be a doctor and left with a promising career at a clinic in San Francisco. The move from coast to coast was daunting, but you weren’t alone. You had friends there and someone by your side to ease your worries. Now you were back in New York. Alone.
You settled down in a simple apartment and applied to jobs around the area, setting down roots again. Starting over in another city and at a new job was a lot of stress on you and you finally decided to seek some help. It helped you look back at what you’ve done so far in your life and talk about the events that had led you back to New York.
The thought that maybe you were being overdramatic crossed your mind, but you knew that staying would have taken a toll on you mentally. He could promise as much as he wanted that he would change, but after years of giving him chances, you decided you had enough.
Carlton Drake was a man that you never thought would ever enter your life. He was practically married to his work and you were surprised that your relationship lasted as long as it had. It was a strange feeling knowing that he was gone, but you both knew that he got himself into that mess. Death can be so sudden that there wasn’t enough time to process it. It was a subject that was brought up from time to time during your therapy sessions. Apparently, wine and bath bombs aren't enough to deal with depression.
How much could you have achieved had you not continued to look down on yourself? As much as your mind wanted to dwell on the negatives, you wondered how much you could achieve with your new start. Maybe you could do more medical research or work for a big hospital. Even with a medical degree, it doesn’t guarantee that you could get any job, but you hope that your experience and past research material could help give you a boost.
-
After weeks of applying for jobs and waiting for the call back for interviews, you decided to take a break and attend the grand opening of a recently installed exhibit in the science museum. Since it was an event funded by Stark Industries, it was going to be a big thing. Cameras, music, food, and balloons. The perfect way to relax and not think of work.
Not even two blocks away and the streets were packed with cars and families with their children making their way to or from the museum. You hurried your pace, having overslept and skipped breakfast. If there’s not enough food to stave your hunger, you could always stop by the usual pizza parlor.
You weaved through the crowd and went to pay the entrance fee when the front desk stopped you, explaining that Tony Stark had made it free for anyone to go. You thanked them and grabbed a brochure of the map and the exhibits, seeing that you still had some time left before the big reveal.
You couldn’t remember the last time that you’ve been in the science museum. It’s been renovated a lot, exhibits shifted, but it still held onto that air of curiosity and knowledge. It was one of the things that motivated you to become a doctor in the first place. So, of course, the first exhibit you looked for was for technological advancements in medicine.
A smile made their way across your lips as you skimmed through each display, checking your watch every now and then to make sure you wouldn’t miss the big reveal. When you reached a display filled with prototypes of prosthetic limbs, the information placard made you frown. As someone who had studied this subject in particular for a while before deciding to become a physician, there were a few bits that stood out that were inaccurate. You ran a finger over the sentences, making sure you read that right, your frown deepening as you wondered how long this had gone unchecked.
“You’ve noticed that, too, haven’t you?” a familiar voice that you only heard on TV or the rare appearances at conferences.
Your eyes widened as you turned to see Tony Stark wearing sunglasses, a NASA hoodie, and a matching NASA baseball cap, standing right next to you. He glanced over to you and smirked.
“You’re Doctor (Y/n) (Y/l/n), right? Can’t forget that face - well, honestly, I did, but Pepper reminded me. But! I do remember your research that you’ve done a few years back. Good stuff,” he rambled while he waved his hands, “Anyways, you’re here for the grand opening. Should be starting soon.”
“Shouldn’t you be there right now, Mister Stark?” you asked, raising an eyebrow.
Tony shrugged. “I’m sure it’s fine. I just have to pop up at the right time, give a motivational speech for our future scientists, do some mingling, and -”
He was interrupted as his watch beeped twice, prompting him to lift his arm up. “Fifteen minutes,” a woman’s voice said sternly.
His lips formed a thin line as he tapped the screen. “I know, honey, but I’m recruiting right now,” he said quickly before tapping it again. “Anyways, do you hate your job right now?”
You blinked. “Uh, well, I’m looking for one-”
“Good, good. How ‘bout stopping by Stark Towers?” he said as he started walking backwards towards the event, “Tell the receptionist I’ve sent you.”
“Uh, okay, Mister Stark. But when-”
“Tomorrow would be nice. We’re changing up some things so this would be perfect timing.”
“Okay…”
That was something you didn’t expect to happen. Maybe everything was looking up for you.
-
Dora wanted to build a new foundation or at least lend her expertise to another research facility, one that would aid everyone and support eco-friendly technology. She believed, as someone who had worked with Carlton for a long time, that he once had that vision before he became greedy and power hungry.
She would check in with you every now and then, see how you were dealing with the news. After she had merged with the symbiote Scream, Eddie was the first person she notified. He wanted to make sure if the symbiote posed a threat and told her how to deal with living with one. He then suggested laying low until things settled down and making sure that no one gets a hold of symbiote research done at Life Foundation. Who knows what would happen in the wrong hands?
With that in mind, she took only a selected few scientists and security guards to the foundation, ones she knew she could trust and had been strongly against the experiments Carlton had been conducting. They swept every corner of the building, every computer and every file scanned through. Only certain research was allowed to be kept, ones that were deemed ethical. Others, though, were destroyed.
Dora stared at Carlton Drake’s old office, remembering hearing his passionate speeches to investors, remembering hearing you convince him to take a break from work and leaving with your arms linked together. You were so happy together, but when Carlton changed, it was no longer healthy for you to stay.
She entered the office slowly, as if she would be caught by him any minute. A few of his possessions were still around. He didn’t decorate his office much, so there wasn’t too much to clean. The problem was his desk. His luggage from his trip with you was still standing on the side. The photo of the two of you on a trip to London was one of the few items on his desk. The drawers were locked, but with the help of Scream, she formed a key with their hand and unlocked them with ease. Files upon files to go through; incident reports, experiment reports, and blueprints and notes for new inventions.
Meanwhile, Eddie had started on his exclusive story with Cletus Kasady. Within a few minutes of standing in the serial killer’s presence, Venom had already sensed that he was bonded with another symbiote. Eddie had cursed about how there was more of Carlton’s mess that they had to clean up and who knows how dangerous that symbiote was, especially with a psychopath like Kasady.
The whole interview was under wraps and he didn’t think telling the prison to add more security to the already highly guarded inmate would go through so well. It was something he knew he would have to deal with. The only question was when.
Looking over his notes from his interview, he let out a tired sigh and tossed it onto the coffee table. He scrubbed his face with both hands before attempting to do one of his calming exercises. He took a deep breath in-
“Eddie,” Venom said.
“Not right now, buddy,” Eddie muttered, exhaling loudly.
“We’re going to be late.”
“It’s just Annie and Dan.”
“But if we go early, we will have Annie to ourselves.”
Eddie huffed in frustration. “She doesn’t even know that you’re still alive. Besides, Dan’s a great guy. I’m happy for her.”
“But she’ll be happier with us-”
“You know what, fine! If you wanna start heading out, we’ll head out right now. I really don’t want to argue with you about this.”
Dan had finished his meeting early, much to Venom’s dismay and it was Anne that had been late. Eddie didn’t mind and was actually enjoying talking to Dan about the news coverage he had done over the years and what kinds of things that had happened at hospitals that would be worthy of such coverage.
When Anne arrived, she wasn’t sure if she should be relieved or worried to see them get along so well. It’s always good to know that they’re not fighting and they had no desire to when they first met anyways, but that also means that they could get up to all kinds of shenanigans without telling her.
Eddie was telling Dan about how he met you in New York when the TV at the bar had been turned up. All three of them turned as Wilson Fisk, another millionaire scientist, was being interviewed after years of being in prison and how he wanted to start working on a project immediately after being released, throwing a tactless joke about how the competition was finally out of the way.
Eddie grunted, taking a sip of his beer. “Great, he’s coming back, is he?” he mumbled with a roll of his eyes.
Anne pursed her lips, watching the heavy set bald man talk away to the reporter. He’s got a strong air of arrogance that could be felt through the television, but not the calm suaveness that Carlton Drake had. He was loud, but social with friends in high and dangerous places. It was a wonder why the news of his lab hadn’t been swept under the rug like Carlton’s had, unless one of his contacts used it to cover something else up. Perhaps, someone in the criminal world that he associated with. Fisk had been arrested and in Anne’s opinion, the bail was too low, but he surprisingly went and served his sentence. He had been keeping a low profile until recently when everyone else seemed to have forgotten his incident, his company owned lab shut down and was waiting to be of use to someone.

Science & Faith | Carlton Drake x Reader (3/?)
Sequel Series to Apples & Cinnamon

A/N: Tags do be screwing with me when I needed them the most, huh? More of Carlton in this one. I'll probably label the universes as OG-U and AU-1. What do you guys think?
Warning: Switching between AUs in this chapter and future chapters as well, mentions death of AU versions of certain characters.

The Invisible River Part One
-Alternate Universe One-
Sometimes, these science conferences seemed like a waste of time to Carlton, but at least he wasn’t alone in that sentiment. He took some time away from Life Foundation to attend a conference back in New York. He wished he would be taking the trip with you, he knew how much you loved visiting New York and it was never the same without you. It took some convincing from Doctor Skirth and Tony Stark to have him attend and in the end, he conceded.
“Hey, bud, snagged a drink for you,” Tony said, holding up a glass of wine.
“How considerate,” Carlton muttered, immediately downing it.
“Well, who else is going to be judging these snotty people with me, huh?”
“True, not many people can tolerate you.” Carlton smirked.
Tony snorted. “As if you’re any better.”
Carlton looked down at his glass, switching out for a new one as a waiter passed. “I know.”
He felt Tony slap a hand on his back. “Hey, sorry, man. Look, there’s going to be people that are gonna hang your sins above your head and there are people that are gonna forget about it. When it comes to people like us, it’s unavoidable. Your intentions were good-”
“I was being too selfish, too greedy, too impatient. I should have listened to (Y/n), then none of this would have happened.”
“Hey, if I know anything about Doctor (Y/l/n), it’s that they’re a saint for tolerating you- “ This made Carlton scoff, but a small smile was returning to his face “- And they wouldn’t want you to be beating yourself up over this.”
“I hate to say that you’re right… but you’re right.”
Tony smirked. “Of course I’m right. Oh, and look who’s coming this way,” he muttered, sipping on his wine with a side eye to the stocky man approaching.
“Stark. Drake. Never thought I’d see a playboy and a recluse having a civil conversation,” the man laughed.
“Ah, Fisk,” Tony greeted with forced enthusiasm, “Finally crawled out of Hell’s Kitchen. How’s business?”
“Had a few setbacks, but I see a bright future ahead with my latest partnership with Doctor Olivia Octavius. There’s an… exciting project that I’d like to resume and Octavius is just the person I need,” Fisk said with a shrug.
“Well, congrats,” Carlton said, raising a glass to him before downing it. He didn’t really care that much about Wilson Fisk, but he was a valuable investor to many researchers and he knew it.
“Yeah, if those lawsuits count as setbacks, sure,” Tony muttered into his glass.
Fisk’s eyes narrowed. He was about to give a retort when the host began to tap the mic at the front of the room. Tony’s face brightened up, nudging Carlton over to his table where Pepper and Happy were already sitting and waiting. Pepper greeted Carlton and turned her attention to the front. From the corner of his eyes, Carlton could see Fisk glowering before retreating to the back of the room.
The conference went on with a few speeches and presentations here and there before they called for a break. Carlton stepped to the side to call Doctor Skirth to check on how things were back at the Life Foundation when a young woman waved at him. She held up a press badge and a notepad as she made her way over to him.
“Hello, Doctor Carlton Drake? Excuse me, I’m Cindy Moon, an intern at Fact Channel,” she said, “Would you mind if I ask you a few questions about your latest research project?”
“Sure, no problem,” he said, pocketing his phone. He looked down at her pencil and notepad and nodded over to it. “It’s rare to see a reporter carry that around, at least a young one. They’re usually holding up recorders or their phone or iPad.”
Cindy laughed sheepishly. “Yeah, that’s why my boss calls me Analog. He’s honestly a bit biased towards me because of it.”
“Why do you use it?”
She shrugged. “It’s not that I’m not good with technology, it’s just that… certain circumstances made me a bit behind in the use of the current Internet of Things. Now, where shall we conduct this interview?”
“The back should be fine.”
Carlton looked over to find an empty table, noting that Fisk was nowhere to be found, and so was Doctor Octavius.

-Original Universe-
Dora never thought that she would be cleaning up Carlton’s files and it was something that she had been putting off for quite a while. She sorted through them, tossing the files to destroy on one side and the ones to keep on the other.
“This one reminds me of Riot,” Scream said as Dora read through Carlton’s notes.
“How so?”
“They are both selfish and arrogant, always at the front, with greedy intentions disguised as for the good of their people. Because they were so alike, Riot would not hesitate to sacrifice him if given the chance. They would have destroyed each other no matter what for their own gain. Their demise is quite fitting.”
“Trapped in an exploding rocket?”
“Trapped in their own decisions that were destroying them.”
“Well, if you put it that way…”
Dora trailed off as she reached a blueprint that she never saw before. Carlton doesn’t run every project through her, but this machinery wasn’t something that she saw him venturing into. She flipped through the notes attached to it, noting that the majority of it were not in his writing. At the bottom of the notes and the blueprint had a signature. Doctor Octavius. How did Carlton get a hold of these? She wasn’t even aware that Carlton was acquainted with him. From what she remembered, Doctor Otto Octavius had died from an unspecified accident that destroyed his entire lab. Scanning through the notes again, he mentions a Kingpin, his biggest investor that commissioned this machine, but it doesn’t say whether it was ever completed before his passing.
“What is this?” Scream asked curiously, their head hovering near the documents.
“It’s… I think it’s some sort of machine that Doctor Octavius had been building to explore other realities. It’s complicated stuff. Why would this Kingpin want this and why would Carlton have it?”
Scream hummed. “Seems like something that a certain investigative journalist could look into.”
Dora immediately notified Eddie about her recent discoveries, but there was only so much he could do when the information was all the way in New York. He wouldn’t even be able to get through TSA.
“Besides,” Eddie said, “There’s a situation here that makes me feel uneasy. I don’t know if I should leave just yet. Hopefully whatever you found is not of immediate danger, but I’ll keep my ears open, alright? I know of Kingpin, so I’ll look into it when I can and ask around.”
“Thank you, Eddie.”

Science & Faith | Carlton Drake x Reader (5/?)

A/N: Kind of losing motivation in writing this series, so I'm going to try and post what I have already written and try writing other things. I technically have more than half of this series finished, but I might do some editing on them before posting.

The Return Part One
- Original Universe -
Carlton woke up on the cold floor of the lab. The air was musky, the lights above him burnt out. He heard hurried footsteps from the other side of the room, followed by a firm hand on his shoulder. He flinched, scooting away to get a better look at the room as his eyes began to focus. Three figures stood around him, all in some sort of costume and a few he recognized as some variation of Spider-man’s suit.
“Where’s Stark? And Spider-man?” Carlton mumbled, holding his head to stop the spinning.
“You’re gonna have to be more specific on which Spider-man you’re asking for,” the tallest one said, crouching down next to him. He had brown graying hair, unkempt with a trimmed stubble, but his blue eyes were familiar. “I’m Peter Parker.”
“That… no… so the Collider did work.” Carlton righted himself up and stood with the help of the other Peter. “You’re a bit older than the Peter Parker I knew.”
“You’re Carlton Drake, aren’t you?” a girl said, looks to be about her late teens or early twenties with blonde shoulder length hair and a white and pink Spider suit.
Carlton nodded, dusting himself off.
“He’s Carlton Drake?” a boy around her age said in disbelief, wearing a black and red Spider suit. “The Carlton Drake I knew was this blond white elitist guy who’s been looking to grant immortality or something to rich people.”
The girl shrugged. “Well, I honestly heard of him as the husband of Doctor (Y/n) (Y/l/n). You know, CEO of Life Foundation? They collaborate with Stark Industries to create customized cybernetic limbs and growing fully functioning organs in labs. They’re pretty badass.”
“Peter! Gwen! Miles!” a little girl’s voice called out, “It looks like the entire area had been caught in the blackout and there’s no signs of this lab being in use for years.”
A little girl in a white shirt and black vest ran in, followed by a stomping arachnoid robot and a man dressed like he was from a noir film in the forties.
“There’s no sign of Doctor Octavius or Kingpin anywhere here. Where should we go first?” the man asked in his deep voice, his face covered with a black mask.
Peter held up a hand to his chin as he thought. “This doesn’t make any sense. I could have sworn I saw this collider powered before we all arrived here. There’s still heat radiating off of it, but the whole place looks deserted,” he mumbled to himself.
Miles subconsciously mirrored him, placing a hand on his chin to help him brainstorm. He frowned for a moment before his face brightened, turning to Carlton.
“You mentioned Stark, as in Tony Stark, right? Since we’re in New York, he’s someone that could help us with this, right?” Miles suggested.
They exchanged a glance and shrugged. “It’s worth a shot,” Gwen said.
“How are we gonna reach him?”
“We’ll just have to go straight to him,” Carlton said. “To Stark Towers.”
-
As Dora dug further into the old research of Doctor Otto Octavius, she could see where things could go wrong immediately. The energy needed to be controlled in a stable environment and with too much power, it could become unstable and break the barriers of the other dimensions. Was it possible that the doctor’s accident had been connected to this collider project? Hopefully, it was never completed or else someone could get their hands on it.
There was a knock at the door, one of the researchers reminding her to take a break. They all planned to head towards the bar and relax and think of what to do next. Dora kept the files on the collider in her bag and followed them out, sparing one last glance at the picture of you and Carlton on his desk before locking the office door behind her.
She wasn’t much for drinking, but when they poured a glass for her, she readily took a sip of it. Carlton’s descent into madness stressed the hell out of her, making her question whether she was still part of the good guys or were in cahoots with the bad guys. All she wanted was to help people, maybe even find the cure for cancer. Then, her family was threatened, so what else could she do? She was unable to tell anyone what was happening. Nothing to her friends or family. She noticed how estranged she had become as a result of this and had to slowly patch things up with her life outside of Life Foundation.
“Hey, Dave, turn that up!” one of the regular bar patrons shouted, pointing at the TV.
The bartender reached over and turned the volume up as everyone gathered around the bar. Dora looked up, her eyes widened at what she was seeing. A sudden earthquake shook New York and caused a massive black out. There were no seismic activities prior to this, so scientists were still looking into it.
“Jesus, what the hell happened?” someone muttered next to Dora.
“Who the hell knows,” another one said.
Dora quickly whipped out her phone and texted you, hoping that you were okay.

Your eyes were attacked by a bright light as you slowly came to. The last thing you remembered was standing in the streets when you fainted. Why did you faint?
You heard a door sliding open, followed by clicking heels. “How are you feeling?” asked the doctor.
“I’m… a bit dizzy,” you managed to say.
The doctor nodded, explaining that she was going to perform a few tests before giving you a cup of water. “Miss Pepper saw you unconscious in your car through the security cameras and sent a small team to retrieve you. Do you mind telling me what happened?”
You sat up slowly with the help of the doctor and frowned. “I was clocking out for the day when traffic suddenly stopped, um… there was some kind of blackout. An explosion had happened a couple miles away and affected the whole area.” The doctor nodded, waiting for you to continue. “Then… I got distracted by something in the sky. I don’t know what it was, but I had a feeling that it was heading straight to Stark Towers. And then, I heard a voice…”
You frowned, trying to remember who it was. Your mind had an answer, but it was impossible. Carlton was dead, but it sounded just like him. It looked like him, dressed up in his usual dark gray suit that he would only use for conferences and company dinners, but at the same time he seemed different.
“Who was it?” The doctor asked.
“It’s crazy,” you said, not wanting to say anything further.
The doctor smiled. “We’re in a building owned by a man with an iron suit. One resident has powers originated by a glowing alien cube, another can turn into a green hulking monster when he’s angry, then another was a soldier from World War Two that had been kidnapped to be their mind controlled assassin, kept in a cryochamber until they have some use for him. I can go on and on. You know, just saying, so we both are on the same page of what crazy is.”
You took a deep breath and nodded, exhaling slowly. “I thought I heard… I saw my ex,” you said, staring down at your hands.
The doctor tilted her head. “How is that cra- ”
“He’s dead,” you said quickly, almost bitterly, “He’s been dead for months.”
“Ah.” She looks down at her chart, then back at you. “Well, you can rest up first. Mr. Stark wants to speak with you and it may explain what you saw. And trust me when I say that you need all the rest you can get. Doctor’s orders.”
“Okay. Thank you.”
She nodded, turning to let you rest. Walking out of the medical area of the floor, she was immediately met with the sight of five new people in costumes and a man in a dark gray suit that looked oddly familiar. The man was arguing with Tony, demanding to see you. She cautiously walked in, holding your medical chart close to her. Tony spotted her and smiled.
“Ah, Doctor Cho, any updates?” he said, wanting to get out of his conversation with the man.
“Yes, they are in a more stable state and everything else seems fine. They just need some rest,” Doctor Cho said, emphasizing the last word to the man.
“Can I at least see them?” The man asked, stepping towards her. “They’re my fiance.”
Doctor Cho frowned. “They haven’t mentioned anything about being engaged. What was your name again?”
“Carlton Drake.”
She exchanged a look with Tony who stepped in between them. “We need to discuss what happened,” he said, “And maybe, just maybe, I’ll let you see (Y/n).”
Carlton sighed. “Fine.”
Tony took them to the communal floor where he brought up a projection displaying cameras and news reports about the black out before heading towards his bar to pour himself a drink. After taking a sip, he walked back and brought up another screen. He pointed at Carlton, then brought up a video of a rocket explosion at Life Foundation. Carlton’s face twisted in confusion as he watched the news report of the accident and his passing.
“(Y/n) doesn’t say much about their life back in San Francisco, but I always do background checks on my employees. There had been a few pap pics of the two of you over the years and the most recent one in Singapore a day before one of your spaceships crashed,” Tony said, “Can you see why I can’t just let you see (Y/n)? In our universe or reality or whatever you want to call it, you’re dead.”
Carlton stepped back to process this, his eyes glued to the news coverage of his demise. They spoke of all the things he had done in this parallel universe, good and bad. And there were a lot of bad things that he felt weren't being revealed.
Peter stepped forward, explaining what had happened that led him to this universe and the others followed one by one. They were all in activities unrelated to Kingpin when they were sucked into this portal and spat out here. They all turned to Carlton, wanting to know what happened to him.
“I… me and the other Tony Stark and the other… Peter Parker was looking into Kingpin and found his lab. The collider was headed by Doctor Olivia Octavius- “
“So Doc Ock was a woman in your universe,” Tony muttered, earning a glare from Carlton for purposely interrupting. He held his hands up and gestured for him to continue.
“She activated the collider and through the scuffle, I got thrown into the chamber. I tried to shoot the panel when she blasted the power capacity to its fullest. I’m not sure if the other Tony Stark was able to destroy the panel in time, but I still ended up going through the portal.”
Tony hummed. “Very interesting. Well, if it was me, I would have gotten the job done,” he commented, downing his drink, “But because he is the alternate version of me, then he’s bound to be brilliant because from the readings I got, the source seems to be coming from here.” He brings out a 3D map of New York and zooms it towards Doctor Otto Octavius’s old laboratory. “If the portal from your universe had gone off, you would have all been teleported to that universe instead. That being said, our Doc Ock died years ago and Kingpin had been sitting in jail during that time. Maybe someone’s been squatting in that place or maybe the collider redirected all of you here. Either way, this needs to be fixed.”

Only in My Dreams | Carlton Drake x Reader (Oneshot)
Prompt: Long Distance Relationship
Fandom: Venom
Words: 803

The kettle was on the stove while you waited for your call to go through, the image of you and Carlton remaining on the screen as it rang. It had been about a year since you and Carlton started dating and many were surprised that you lasted this long. While you resided in New York Carlton had his company in San Francisco. It was difficult at first, due to the time zones but you made it work.
“I could go for a nice cup of tea right now,” came Carlton’s voice from your laptop.
You spun around, almost spilling your tea all over the floor. Carlton chuckled, watching as you quickly cleaned up the counter while in your pajamas before sliding into the kitchen chair.
“Well, fly up here and I can make you one,” you teased. Carlton shifted around, the distant sound of an announcement could be heard in the background. “Where are you, Carlton?”
“I have an important meeting that I have to fly over to,” Carlton said.
“Oh, I guess business is doing well as always.”
“Extremely well. There’s this deal that I’m trying to get through. When it’s done, it’s going to change everything and I’ll be able over there in no time.”
You purse your lips, hoping that it’s not one of those sugar coated promises that he couldn’t keep. He was a busy man, you knew, and it’d be easier if you were to transfer to San Francisco to be closer, but you had a life in New York. It’d take longer to tie all the loose ends and you didn’t want to just up and leave. Not even for Carlton, and he understood. It’d take more than him for you to move.
He continued to animatedly talk about the projects that he had lined up and the ones he hoped to achieve in the next few years. Then, you talked about the work that you had done and the possibility of a promotion.
“Hold on, babe, they’re announcing my flight,” he said, the camera shaking as he looked around, “I’ll call you back later, okay?”
“Okay,” you said, pouting, “Love you.”
“Love you, too. And (Y/n/n)?” You paused, your mouse hovering over the end call button. “I can’t wait to give you the world.”
Carlton had started saying that for a couple of months now and you assumed it had something to do with one of his projects. He always went about the endless possibilities once he obtained resources from space, once he found a way to get up there, how it’ll change the world and how he wanted you beside him when it happens. Your friends had overheard him say it once and they all assume that he was getting ready to propose. You denied it, of course. You’d never talked about marriage before, so why all of a sudden. Carlton was always dramatic with the way he talked.
-
You yawned as you reached for the door, freezing as your brain slowly processed the situation. The door was unlocked when you knew that you always locked it before you left. You shoved your hand into your bag, feeling for the pepper spray before opening the door.
You were greeted by the smell of pesto and clanging noises coming from the kitchen. A familiar voice cursed and you made a beeline towards the source. You flung your bag onto the counter and practically slammed yourself on his back, wrapping your arms tightly around him.
“What are you doing here?” you asked, refusing to let go.
“Told you I had an important meeting, didn’t I?” Carlton said, turning around to hug you back.
“Yeah, but I thought it was for some business deal.”
“There was a business deal,” he said, “I just had to wait for a phone call for them to confirm before I got here.”
“How long are you here for?”
Carlton shrugged. “Maybe a week or so, depending if they need me back at LIFE. Until then, I’ll be able to spend time with you.”
You squeezed him tighter. “I miss you.”
“I miss you, too.”
He started to hum as he rocked the two of you, almost like a slow dance. The stove alarm began to ring, but Carlton ignored it. The sound gradually grew louder and louder until it was shrieking in your ear.
And then you jerk awake. Alone in your bed, the alarm clock reading seven in the morning. You reached over and turned off the alarm, sighing. Why were you having that dream? You haven’t spoken to Carlton, not since Eddie Brock released the news of what had been happening at LIFE Foundation. Your dreams tend to somehow predict the future and despite how pleasant that dream had been, you were having a bad feeling about it.

Science & Faith | Carlton Drake x Reader (4/?)
Words: 1860
A/N: I wish I could add links to this post, but I'm afraid of it not showing up in tags like it had done several times before. The masterlist for this story should be pinned on my blog and my full masterlist is in my bio.
Warning: This whole chapter is set in an AU until the end, which leads to the end of The Invisible River Part One.

The Invisible River Part Two
- Alternate Universe One -
At the end of the conference, Tony managed to find Carlton in the lobby. He turned and opened his mouth at the same time as Tony.
“No, you go first,” Tony insisted.
“Have you-”
“No, I go first,” he interrupted, ignoring Carlton’s glare, “Have you noticed that Rolling Pin and Doctopus aren't here?”
Carlton sighed, pushing his frustrations down to address the situation. “Yeah, they seemed to have left half way through the conference.”
“Honestly, why even bother coming if you’re just going to leave anyways? The beginning part is always pointless, who comes just for that?”
“Maybe he had an emergency,” Carlton suggested.
Tony cleared his throat, looking around to see if there were any more people lingering in the lobby before pulling Carlton on the side. He brought up his watch and projected a surveillance camera, showing Spider-man swinging towards a large building.
“Know which building that is?” Tony said, pointing at it, “That’s a laboratory built under Fisk’s name. What do you think Spandex-man is doing there?”
“Why are you coming to me with this? Aren’t you Iron-man?” Carlton asked, already on the move to leave.
Tony frowned at him, blocking his escape. “Dude, don’t you wanna check it out? Be a hero for once? I know that you were keeping tabs on ol’ Kingpin for a while.”
“I am far from being a hero, Stark,” Carlton said tiredly, pushing past him. Tony sighed, turning to fall into step with him.
“And yet, look at me. We don’t exactly fit the golden boy Captain America role, but it’s good intentions that count, right?”
“My so-called good intentions got my fiance killed, Stark. Look into it with your spider friend if you’re itching for action. I’m not looking for redemption.”
“And yet, you followed me to my car,” Tony said.
Carlton blinked, finding that he was unconsciously following Tony’s lead and was now standing next to his red shiny sports car. Tony pulled out his sunglasses and smirked, climbing in.
“Well, get in, loser, we’re going crime-stopping.”
On the way to Fisk’s labs, Tony contacted Spider-man about any updates on Fisk’s or Doctor Octavius’s movements. He confirmed that they were both in the labs for the past several hours. From the activities that he had observed, they seemed to be building a large machine deep within the labs with power sources leading underground.
“So, we’re just gonna go without backup?” Carlton asked in disbelief.
“No,” Tony scoffed, “We are the backup.”
Carlton sputtered, gesturing to himself. “And what am I supposed to do?”
Tony sighed, digging around the back of his car for a box, unceremoniously tossing a watch at Carlton. He caught it, inspecting it closely before putting it on.
“One button has a taser, the other a communicator. There’s also a little thing I added to check the cameras in the area, then there’s the iron-glove with the same functions of the ones on my suit. Oh, also, a flashlight. Can’t forget that. Plays music, too, if you want. You’re a fellow genius, Drake, you’ll figure it out.” Tony patted his back. “Watch, we’re going to be besties once this is all over.”
They waited until nightfall to start moving. Spider-man updated them on Fisk’s whereabouts, saying that his car was driving away from the building. They all met up and readily agreed that this didn’t have to be a big issue that reached the news. Secrecy wasn’t exactly Tony’s style, but he could take it seriously when he needed to.
Spider-man swiftly subdued the security guards on patrol while Tony hacked into the cameras. One guard had slipped away from his post to check on the others. Carlton quickly lifted his watch and pressed a button, hoping that it was a taser. Bright light blinded the man, making him shrink away. Carlton used this to press another button, successfully tasing him. Tony looked down at the guard and nodded over to Spider-man. He quickly lifted the man and placed him with the others that were wrapped in webbing.
“There’s an elevator near here that goes below ground level,” Tony whispered, “Or we could go through the warehouse. It’s currently empty.”
Tony waved a security guard’s keycard over the reader and Spider-man headed in first. The other two crouched in the corner and watched through the camera on the masked hero, hoping to find something. The way down to the labs below ground went smoothly and it made them feel uneasy. Each floor was brightly lit and suspiciously empty. As he reached the lowest floor, Spider-man paused in his tracks.
“Someone’s here,” he muttered.
Tony activated his iron glove and readied to go in, eyeing the camera through Carlton’s watch. Spider-man entered a narrow hallway leading towards a single metal door. His spider-senses were off the charts as he approached, turning the knob slowly. It was unlocked.
The camera suddenly blurred, followed by a loud smack. A woman in a lab coat, eyes covered by goggles, and four metal arms stretched out from her back, stood in front of him. She smirked, one arm reaching over out of the camera’s view, before pulling back and revealing Spider-man’s mask clutched in its metal claws.
“Ah, that’s a no-no,” he warned.
“Such a young man,” she cooed, an arm holding him yanking him away from the wall and slammed him into a large chair in the room. Metal clamps held his arms and legs in place, rendering him incapacitated as she casually dragged an office chair over. “I’m sure you’re curious about what we’re doing here.”
“It’d be nice if you told me,” Spider-man said.
“I’ve seen the technology you use, so I think you’d appreciate what I’m about to tell you,” she said, standing up and approaching the wide window facing a massive chamber, a large machine in the middle. “Oh, where are my manners? I'm Doctor Olivia Octavius. My friends call me Liv, but my enemies- ” Her metal arms wriggled about, one reaching over to Spider-man to touch his head “- They call me Doc Ock.”
“Nice to meet you, I’m Spider-man.”
“Young man with manners. You see, Kingpin commissioned what I call a Super Collider.”
“A Super Collider?” His eyes drift towards the chamber, landing on the panel on the ceiling. Must be where the power source is. If he could just get to it… “And what does this Super Collider do?”
Tony tapped Carlton on the shoulder and they began to make their way down. Halfway down to the chamber, they started to hear footsteps. The guards were resuming their patrols. Carlton activated his iron glove, metal pieces extending from the watch to perfectly wrap around his hand, and the two scientists continued on with caution.
Doc Ock smirked at this question, turning back to her capture. “Since you came all this way, why don’t I show you what it does? It makes a magnificent light show. I’m sure you will love it.”
A few guards got in the way of Tony and Carlton’s descent, but they were swiftly taken care of and hidden. Just as they reached the narrow hallway that they saw through the camera, a booming whirring resounded from the room. They shared a panic look and rushed towards the door with their iron gloves ready.
They were met with the sight of a man that looked to be in his late twenties with ruffled brown hair wearing Spider-man’s suit. He looked to have been beaten around since that last time they had checked his camera. Tony shot a glare at the woman as her fingers fluttered over the control panel, unphased by their entrance.
“Curiosity killed the cat, fellas,” she commented as the roaring from the collider grew stronger. An atmospheric meter lowers down, a tiny light blinking.
“Stop the machine, Octopus!” Tony warned, aiming his iron glove at her.
“Or what?” She raised an eyebrow, making eye contact with him as her finger lowered towards a blinking button. “If you shoot, who knows what that will do to the machine. Could be interesting…”
A metal arm shot out before his glove could charge. He staggered back and shot out a beam, redirecting the arm and causing it to crash through the glass. She glared, whipping around to check on her machine while Tony rushed over to the revealed Spider-man.
“How you doin’, kid?” Tony whispered, releasing his limbs from the chair.
“Been better,” Peter grunted. “Is this a good time to tell you that my name’s Peter?”
“Why are you doing this?” Carlton demanded as an energy beam shot to the middle of the chamber.
“Carlton Drake,” she scoffed, turning to him, “Don’t you wish you had another chance to make things right? The choices we’re given are paths that lead to an endless possible points in our lives. Each path we choose to walk down opens up to new paths to choose from. Thus, creating- “
“Alternate realities,” Carlton finished.
Doc Ock nodded. “What if you had chosen to listen to your dear (Y/n)- “
“Don’t you dare bring them up! I made my choice and I’m living with it.”
“But what if you have access to that other choice. You can go to another reality where you’re living happily with (Y/n).”
Carlton’s eyes narrowed. “Is this why Fisk wanted you to build this?”
She shrugged. “Well, it’s something I’ve always wanted to tap into, but to have a desperate millionaire fund my little project is always a treat.” She flinched and a metal arm shot out towards the door where Tony was escaping with Peter. “You’re gonna miss the show.”
The air in the chamber began to warp, gradually forming into a portal. Doc Ock moved to give the machine more power before being intercepted by a spider web shooting out from Peter. Chaos erupted in the room, a blur of spider webs, energy beams, and metal arms flying around. The lights began to flicker, drawing their attention back to the machine that was almost at maximum power. Carlton attempted to disengage from the fight to stop the machine when one of Doc Ock’s arms swung out and knocked him out of the window.
“No!” Peter shouted, jumping to catch Carlton as he got sucked into the growing portal.
“You’re not going anywhere!” Doc Ock growled, another arm grabbing Peter and slamming him through the door.
Carlton felt the Collider pull him in. It wasn’t like a vacuum, but more like being swept away by an invisible river. He aimed his iron glove towards the ceiling panel to shut it down, then froze as he risked a glance into the portal. He saw a flash of your face, alive and happy.
Suddenly, the portal grew rapidly in an unstable manner and he could just see Doc Ock through the shatter glass with a gleeful grin on her face, a fist gripping onto a lever as she increased the power to its maximum capacity, lights flickering and surging around her. An energy beam from Tony’s iron glove shot out towards the panel before the portal swallowed Carlton completely, his body feeling as if swept away by an invisible river.

You Do Care
Fandom: Marvel
Pairing: Carlton Drake x Reader
As requested by anonymous:  Hey! If you’re still taking fic requests, can you do one for Carlton Drake? Thanks :) +  Prompt #1166“How are they?”“A strange question coming from someone who claims to be such a hardass. Be careful, mister, or you’ll start caring about people.” from @writers-are-writers
Tumblr media
This was a bad idea. He should’ve never let you do this. Why did he agree to let you do this?
He cursed himself for letting his curiosity out win his heart. Hearing your screams of agony were killing him. He just wanted to shut it down, but...he thought about his mission in life. So he continued to watch as the symbiote attempted to attach itself to you, but tearing you apart from the inside out.
“She’s going into cardiac arrest!” Dr. Skirth exclaimed.
Carlton immediately shook his head, “Shut it down! Shut it all down! Get her out of there!”
The symbiote peeled itself away from you, crawling to the farthest corner. You gasped for air and then your body fell limp.
________________________
The first thing you heard was a steady beeping noise. The more you were pulled from your sleep you also hear murmurs. Voices. Two. The more awake you became, the clearer the voices were.
“So? How is she?” you realized the voice to be Carlton’s. His question was laced with concern and you couldn’t help but laugh.
“A strange question coming from someone who claims to be such a hardass. Be careful, mister, or you’ll start caring about people.” your voice was raspy and you coughed, realizing how dry your throat felt.
The woman beside Carlton must’ve been your doctor as she appeared by your side, giving you a soft smile, “Hello, Y/N. I’m Doctor Bautista. How are you feeling?”
“Sore,” you mumbled.
She nodded, “Yes, well, your body went through a lot of stress. It’ll take some time for you to get back on your feet. In the meantime, you’ll be staying here for a few more days under my watch, just to see how you’re fairing. Is that alright?” You nodded and Doctor Bautista left with a nod.
Carlton then rushed to your side, “Y/N,” he breathed out your name, “Thank God you’re okay.” he cupped the side of your face, thumb grazing your cheek, “I almost lost you.”
“Wh-Wha-” you broke out into another coughing fit and Carlton gave poured you a glass of water. You gulped half of it before handing it back to him, “What happened?” your voice more clear.
“Symbiosis failed. It was tearing you apart from the inside out. Luckily, it detached from you just in time. I raced you over to the hospital and you’ve been out ever since.”
“How long?”
“Two days.”
“Damn,” you mumbled. You rubbed a hand down your face, “When can I get outta here. We gotta get back and-”
Carlton shook his head, “What? No! You’re not doing that again, Y/N! It almost killed you!”
“Car, this is what I signed up for!”
“Well I didn’t sign up to watch the love of my life being torn apart! I can’t do it, Y/N! We’ll find other people to do it, but you’re not going back in there again! I forbid it!” he stood up, frustratingly. He began to pace in front of your bed, mentally scolding himself for letting his emotions get the best of him, for confessing to you in a moment like this. It wasn’t supposed to be this way.
He was going to tell you eventually. Probably at some romantic dinner, not while you’re bedridden in a hospital.
“Car-”
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t-I shouldn’t have yelled at you.”
“Can you come here please?” you reached out for him and he set his hand in yours, sitting at the edge of your bed, “If you don’t want me to, I won’t do it.”
His shoulders sagged with relief, “Thank you. You don’t-You don’t understand how painful it was to watch you go through that. Your screams and seeing your limp body. You barely had a heartbeat.”
You scoffed, “It was painful for you to watch? Imagine it actually happening to you.”
“I don’t wanna go through that again. I don’t want you to go through that again.” his fingers laced with yours, “You mean too much to me. I don’t want to see you hurt again.”
You softly smiled at the sight of your hand in his, “When did Carlton Drake become such a softie?”
“When I met you,” he brought your hand up to his lips, kissing it, “Now rest. Allow your body to heal. I’ll be by your side the entire time.” not letting go of your hand, he moved off the bed and onto the chair that sat beside it. Watching as your eyes flutter shut and eventually hearing your breathing even out. no matter what, Carlton Drake was going to keep you safe. That was a promise.

I Will Not Abandon Us
Fandom: Marvel
Pairing: Carlton Drake x Reader
Summary: Carlton has chosen work over his family time and time again until he realizes the cost of it.
A/N: this wasn’t supposed to get this long. i guess i was just really inspired??? also, i know @the-new-fanfic-order were thirsting hella hard for him earlier, but i just needed to write out some angst/fluff for him.
Tumblr media
“Daddy?” Your little girl, Poppy, looked up expectantly and hopefully.
You looked at the rocketship clock that hung on the wall and seeing the late time. You sighed, sitting on the of her bed, “I don’t think so, Poppy Poo.” Your heart breaks at the sight of your daughter’s shoulders falling, a disappointed look on her face.
“I miss daddy,” she mumbles somberly.
You pull her blankets up to her chin, “I know, I miss him too.” you bend down, pressing a kiss to Poppy’s head, “Sleep tight, Poppy Poo.” you turn on her night light and turn off the room light. With one last glance at your little girl, you close the door shut.
You settle into bed twenty minutes later, sad and alone. It was another night that Carlton was working late. You were, honestly, so tired of it. Your four year old daughter was growing up so fast and he was hardly there to see it!
Like clockwork, Carlton calls you, “Hey, sweetheart, sorry. I think we’re getting closer to a break through. I’m gonna have to stay late again.”
“Yeah, I figured since you didn’t come home like you were supposed to,” you snapped.
There was a beat of silence and Carlton spoke, “Are you upset?”
You sigh, pinching the bridge of your nose, “No, Car, just tired. I’ll see you whenever.”
“Wai-” you end the call and put your phone on silent. Your night was filled with a restless sleep.
__________________________________
Carlton sat at one of the desks in the lab. His fingers continuously swiping through his photos. All of them were of you; of you and him; of Poppy; of you, him, and Poppy....he couldn’t believe how big she’s gotten now.
He zooms in on a picture of the three of you. You were standing on the balcony on one of the floors of his building. In the background, you could see the Golden Gate Bridge. But in the foreground, it was you, him, and your little girl. Poppy was held in the middle while you and Carlton were on both sides of her, kissing her cheek. It was his favorite picture of the three of you.
His thumb grazed over Poppy, “I’m sorry, baby, just a little bit longer and daddy can stay home.” he whispered to himself. He then pocketed his phone and stood up, straightening his jacket and doing up the buttons. He put on his business face. It was time to work.
________________________________
“Alright! So you got Mr. Fluffy and Mr. Stuffy?” you ask as you bring yours and Poppy’s luggage down the stairs.
“Yup!” Poppy exclaimed excitedly.
You brought the luggage to the door, setting them down to help Poppy put on her shoes, “Are you excited?”
She nods, but a look of curiosity appears on her face, “Is daddy coming?”
You shook your head, “No. Daddy has a lot of work, so this is just gonna be a mommy and Poppy trip? That okay? That sound fun?”
“So fun!” Poppy exclaimed jumping up and down.
You chuckled, “Great! Now let’s go get into the car and we’ll be off to Disneyland!”
“Disneyland!!!”
_______________________________
Carlton thought he’d surprise you and Poppy. He ended up leaving work early and heading to the closest Build-A-Bear Workshop to get Poppy a new stuffed animal. He then stopped by to get a bouquet of your favorite flowers, along with tickets to see the latest musical at the SHN.
When he stepped through the doors of his home, he called out, “Y/N? Poppy Poo? I’m home!” But he was only met with silence.
His brows furrowed searching for some sign of either of you, but came up empty. What he did see, however, was a letter to him taped on the banister. He unfolded it to see your familiar writing.
Went on a vacation. Don’t wait up.
Y/N and Poppy
Carlton immediately pulled out his phone and dialled your number. It rang a few times before you picked up, “Hello?” He let out a sigh of relief hearing your voice.
“Where are you?”
He hears you exhale, “If you read the note, you’d see that Pops and I went on vacation.”
“Yes, I read the note, but where exactly are you going?”
A second of silence passes and you reply, “Hm. You’re home early.”
“I was going to surprise you two,” he says looking at the bouquet of flowers and new teddy bear resting on the stairs.
“Hmmm. A bit too late for that.”
“I’m sorry. I know I’ve been staying at work late, but it’s for a good reason! We’re on the brink of a brand new discovery! This ensures the safety of our lives! Of Poppy’s life! I’m trying to save our future!”
“And you’re so concerned about the future that you can’t even live in the present! Poppy is growing up and you’re not even there to see it!”
“I know-”
“No, you don’t, Carlton!” you yell, but then realize that you could wake Poppy, who’s sound asleep in the car, “Did you know that she can name constellations?”
“Really?” he breaths out in surprise.
“Yeah. She has me read her that astronomy book you got her every night.”
“Come home, Y/N.” he pleads.
“We can’t. We’re halfway to Disneyland right now. You promised you’d take her, but I figured that wasn’t going to happen any time soon. So I took matters into my own hands.”
“I love you. Both of you, so much. I won’t abandon you, I won’t abandon us. I just-I need more time, Y/N.”
“I know and I’m giving it to you. So while you’re working, Poppy and I will be at the Happiest Place on Earth stuffing our faces with Mickey shaped treats.”
“I love you, Y/N.”
“I know,” you replied and then ended the call.
_______________________________
You secretly hoped that the three days that you spent at Disneyland, Carlton would magically show up and surprise you and Poppy. But you knew better. The LIFE Foundation was, literally, Carlton’s life’s work. It’d always be that before his family.
So on the last day at Disneyland, you put all of your focus on Poppy, not allowing yourself to grieve the wavering relationship with your husband.
“Throw another wish!” Poppy said pointing towards the path of Snow White’s wishing well.
You chuckled and steered Poppy’s stroller in that direction, “You got it, Princess Poppy!”
When you got there, you unbuckled Poppy from the stroller and helped her look down into the well. You gave her a penny, “Close your eyes and make a wish, Poppy Poo!”
She shut her eyes tight and said, “I wish daddy was here!” and then threw her penny into the well, the coin clinking against the metal grate at the bottom.
You smiled and kissed her cheek, “That was a good wish, baby.” you set her down and went to the stroller, “Now, how about we go on Small World?” you took out the map, trying to figure out what the best route to the ride was. So distracted, you didn’t notice Poppy.
Her eyes widened and she gasped, “DADDY!” your head immediately shot up and looked at Poppy. You watched her bolt down the trail and fling herself into the arms of Carlton, himself.
“MY WISH CAME TRUE! LOOK MOMMY! DADDY’S HERE!”
You slowly walked over to them, stroller in front of you. Your eyes filled with suspicion and curiosity. You stopped and crossed your arms over your chest, “What’re you doing here?”
“It took two days for me to ensure that Doctor Skirth could handle the project while I was away and I did promise Poppy we’d all go to Disneyland together.”
“Today’s our last day,” you stated plainly.
“Well,” Carlton pulled out three Disneyland tickets from his pocket, “It’s a good thing I bought extra tickets to extend our stay,” he says with a smile.
“Yay! Thank you, daddy!” Poppy wraps her short arms around her daddy’s shoulder and Carlton is looking at you expectantly.
“Don’t I get a hug from mommy?”
“You were late.”
He shrugs, “Better late than never, right?”
You let your arms fall and you walk into Carlton’s embrace. He presses a loving kiss to your lips, “I’m sorry. I’ll do better. I promise.”
“I know,” you pull back and smile at Poppy, “Why don’t we get daddy a hat to match ours? What do you think, Princess Poppy?”
“Yeah!” Carlton sets her down and she immediately slides her hand into his.
You, Poppy, and Carlton begin your trip at Disneyland as a family.

Oh How You Tease Me
Fandom: Marvel
Pairing: Dr. Carlton Drake x Reader
Summary: Your fiance has been working nonstop and you’ve grown tired of going to sleep without him by your side. You decide to visit him at work and take matters in your own hands.
Warning: smut
A/N: Again, haven’t seen Venom yet. I know nothing about the movie. I’m just being a thirsty hoe.
Tumblr media
“Car, again? Really?” you sat in the bed you shared with Carlton, all alone.
“I’m sorry, babe. I’m really trying to perfect the algorithms for the Symbiote bondings.” you hear a shuffling of papers, “Once this is all finished. I’m yours, I promise.”
You sigh, “Fine. Don’t stay up too late, okay?”
“I’ll try not to. Sleep tight. I love you.”
“I love you too,” you mumble out, ending the call and placing your phone onto the bedside table. Ever since Carlton drew closer and closer with the Symbiotes, he started working more and more, which meant less time you see him. You hated it. You were lonely and sexually frustrated all the time. Carlton didn’t seem to be bothered by it, so it seems you have to take matters into your own hands.
You woke up the next morning and, no surprise, Carlton hadn’t come home at all. He probably fell asleep at his office. He did keep extra clothes and essentials there for this reason. You looked at the time and saw that it was rounding to 11am. He’s probably up and at it already.
You decide to make a small breakfast. You take a shower and get some chores done before you’re out the door. You fix your coat to cover up your sexy ensemble underneath.
Before going to his work, you decide to pick up some lunch for your husband. According to his assistant, he hardly eats nowadays and it upsets you. He’s sacrificing his health and marriage for his work. It better be worth it in the end.
When you arrived, lunch in hand, you smiled at his assisstant, “Hi, Leann. Is he free right now?”
The young, Asian woman smiled back at you, “He’s on a call right now, but after that he has a bit of free time before a meeting.”
“Perfect!” you follow Leann to his office, she peeks her head in, “Sir, your wife is here to see you.” He must’ve gave her some signal to let you in because she pushed the door wider and gestured for you to enter. You thanked her and murmured some words of warning, of what you plan on doing with your dearest husband. Leann chuckled and gave a nod of understanding. Once she closed the door, you locked it.
Carlton was looking out the paned window, his back to you. One hand held his phone to his ear while the other rest in his pocket, “I believe that with having ambitions like mine, there comes an element of failure as well. But nonetheless, my team and I are persistent to develop new ways of helping the people of San Francisco and eventually, the world, thrive with no struggles.” he paused to listen to the person on the line. He turned to see that you sat in one of the chairs on the other side of his desk.
He swiftly walked over to you, bending down to press a gentle kiss to your lips. He covered the speaker with his hand, “I’m glad you’re here,” he saw the bag of food placed on his desk, “I’m really glad you’re here.” you giggled as he went back to talking on the phone.
He went around his desk and sat into his chair. He stared at you as he spoke, his eyes roaming over your face and your odd choice of clothing. It wasn’t particularly cold for you to be wearing such a coat.
He watched as you untied the coat, letting the lapels fall open. His tongue immediately wetting his lips when he saw you wearing a black lingerie set with matching garter belt. Were you really walking around in only that?
You slid the coat off, tossing it onto the floor and you slowly opened your legs for him, giving him a view of your lace clad pussy. You move the fabric to the side, and after licking your fingers, you began to rub your pussy right there in front of him.
He gulped and stuttered out a reply to whatever question the person on the other end was asking, “Y-Yeah, I, uh, actually. An important matter just came up and I’m afraid I have to cut this short. Will it be alright if I call you back another time? Great. Thanks.” he immediately ended the call, his phone falling onto his desk.
“You have some nerve coming in here like that and teasing me while I’m on an important phone call, baby.”
You shrug as you continue to rub circles over your pussy and clit, “Just wanted to show you on how lonely I’ve been since you’re working a lot more now. Been craving your cock for weeks and the only thing that’s been satisfying me has been Mr. Rator, Vibe Rator.”
Carlton licked his lips again as he stood from his chair, “I suppose I’ve been neglecting my husband duties. My poor wife being home all alone with no one to fuck her.” he walked over to you and fell to his knees, becoming eye level with your pussy. His hands slid from your ankles and up to your thighs, brushing along your stocking clad legs and the cute little ribbons on the garter belt.
“I’ve been treating you so poorly,” he murmured as his thumbs grazed over your clit and slit, “How can I make it up to you, babe?”
“I think I know a way.” Your legs moved to hang over his shoulders. You pulled Carlton by the hair and brought his face down to your wet pussy. He happily opened his mouth to give an open mouth kiss to your cunt.
“Fuck, I forgot how good you taste.” He tongue flicked around your clit causing you to squirm around, but Carlton kept you down with his hands. His tongue then dove into your wet slick, your juices collecting on his tongue.
“Shit, Car. Right there, baby. Fuck me with your tongue. Make me cum.” your hold on his hair tightened, making him groan. His mouth worked on licking and sucking you every part of your pussy. Your climax building up even more when you felt two fingers slide in you, and his tongue licking your sensitive nub.
“C’mon, Y/N. Gimme your cum. I’ve missed tasting you on my tongue so much. I’ve been such a bad husband.”
“Fuck! Carlton! Right there!” his fingers picked up the pace to match the fierceness of his tongue, “‘M cumming. Shit, Car! Gonna cum!”
Carlton didn’t slow as he felt your walls clench around his fingers. It just spurred him on even more to bring you to your climax. He watched as you writhed and shook while the wave of pleasure washed over you. Your body donning a sheen of sweat. When you stilled, he pulled his fingers out of you. He slowly lowered your legs off his shoulders. He then stood up and you eyed the protruding bulge in his slacks.
You bit your lip with a smirk, “You gonna fuck me how I deserve?”
He chuckled, “Whatever my wife wants, she shall get.” he then unzipped his pants pushing them down along with his underwear to flood around his ankles. He bent down a bit, to reach your cunt. He stroked himself a few times before slowly inserting himself into you, “Fuck,” he groaned, “And to think I’ve been missing out on this pussy for weeks.”
He leaned forward, bracing himself against the back of the chair was he snapped his hips forward, his cock sliding deeper within you.
“God, yes, Car! Missed your cock so much! Fuck me hard. Wanna feel it for the rest of the day.”
“As you wish, baby.” his thrusts were harder and deeper now. The sound of skin slapping against skin echoed off the walls, “You missed my cock so much, huh? Nothing can make you cum better than my dick in you, ain’t that right?”
“Yes, Car! Only your cock can make me cum hard! Only yours can truly satisfy me!”
“I truly don’t understand how I deserve you,” he breathed out as he fucked you, “You’re too good to me. You take care of me and what do I do, I leave you all alone. I’m a terrible husband yet you still remain faithful to me.”
You shook your head, “You, Car. I’ll always love you, no matter what.”
“Love you. I love you so fucking much! I can’t take it!” he let out a guttural moan as he felt your walls clamp down on him, “You’re close again aren’t you, sweetheart? Gonna cum all over my cock? Huh?”
You nodded, “Gonna cum.” you pulled him by his tie, pressing your lips against his, “Love you. Fuck, Carlton Drake, I love you so much. I’m yours. I’m forever yours. Shit!” you let go of him and pushed your head back with a gasp.
“Nga, fuck, Y/N!” he leaned down, nuzzling his face into your neck, “Love you. Love you. Love you,” he mumbled over and over again with his thrusts until his hips stilled, his seed spilling within you.
And there you two stayed for a moment or two, wrapped up in each other after being thoroughly spent.
Before he pulled out, Carlton pressed a gentle kiss to your lips. He then slowly stepped back, his cock falling out of you, “You okay?”
You slowly nodded, “Yeah, I think this position killed my back though.”
After pulling up his underwear and pants, and tucking himself in, he helped you to your feet, “I’ll take you to the spa tomorrow to get the kinks worked out.”
“You’ll take me or Albert,” Albert was your driver.
Carlton helped you pull on your coat, “I will. I’ve neglected you for too long now. Besides, I’m in need of a mud bath.”
You giggled as you tied the belt around your waist. You then wrapped your arms around your husband, “I do miss you terribly, but I understand. I just hope all this sacrifice will be worth it.”
He cupped your face, “It will be, I promise.” he kissed you once more, “Thank you for visiting and for the food. I love you.”
You nodded, “You’re welcome and I love you too.”
You picked up your purse and headed to the door. Before you stepped out, Carlton spoke up again, “Oh and Y/N?”
You looked over your shoulder, “Hm?”
“I’ll be coming home tonight.” he smirked, “Be ready for me,” he winked at you which made you smile.
“Of course,” you blew him a kiss and exited his office. You thanked Liann on your way out, feeling proud that your little stunt actually gave your husband the push that he needed.

Sweet Moments
Fandom: Marvel
Pairing: Carlton Drake x Reader
Summary: The precious moments you have with Carlton in the early mornings and the late hours of the night.
Tumblr media
___________________________________________
Mornings
Carlton always wakes up at 5:30 in the morning. His body is just wired that way and he can't seem to stop it. So as day breaks and you're still fast asleep, he enjoys the warmth he shares with you.
With his arms encircling your form, he brings himself as close to you as he can. He presses his lips to your head, his lips mumbling words of love and devotion. He then nuzzles his face in your hair, relishing in the sweet scent of your shampoo. He's in a peaceful bliss up until you stir around 7 o'clock.
"Car," you mumble out, trying to rub the sleep from your eyes.
"Yeah?"
"Love you," you mutter as you lean forward to rest your head against his.
He presses a kiss to your skin, whispering those three words back to you causing you to smile.
This happens every morning like clock work and you both never tire from it.
____________________________________________
Nights
It's very common for Carlton to come home late. There's just so much to do and he wants to spend as much time as he can to get things done.
You always stay up for him even after the countless of times he's said you don't have to. But you want to. You want to make sure that he comes home safe and sound. Is that so bad?
You both then get ready for bed together. If you still have enough energy, you will shower together, washing each other up and giving quick kisses in-between rinses.
Carlton dries off quickly and digs in his underwear drawer, sliding on a pair of black boxer briefs and settling on his stomach in bed. He watches you with such fondness in his eyes.
As you dry your hair and brush through the tangles, as you walk naked into conjoined bedroom and pull on a pair of panties, as you slip on a sleep shirt.
He then follows you back to the bathroom so you can both brush your teeth. For some reason, he always likes to stand behind you, slightly to the side, and have a hand on your hip. Neither of you are sure why, but he always has to do this.
After that, you walk into the bedroom once more, hand in hand, and slip into bed. You both turn off the bedside lamps and you latch onto each other.
Carlton's arms wrap around you and you cuddle into his side.
"Good night, sweetheart. I love you."
"Good night, Car. I love you too." And you both fall into content slumber, ready for your morning routine the next day.

Little Me, Little You
Fandom: Marvel
Pairing: Carlton Drake x Reader
As requested by anonymous: Carlton Drake x Reader. Where the reader admires how good he is with kids
Tumblr media
You were probably just as excited to be visiting Life Foundation as your students. You were an elementary school teacher, specifically a fifth grade teacher. Your class as well as several other classes at your school were going on a field trip to tour Life Foundation.
You informed the CEO and founder of the foundation aka your boyfriend, Carlton Drake, about your visitation, but he explained that it’s pretty likely that he’ll be busy during your tour. You were a bit disappointed that you wouldn’t be able to see your man hard at work, but nonetheless that didn’t lessen your excitement.
Because Carlton was a busy man, he never had time to tour you around the place himself. You were thankful that you now had the opportunity to.
You met a tour guide at the lobby, she introduced herself as Michelle. You were in the back with the other teachers, to watch over your students as you all followed her through the building.
You ended up in a room that looked like a sort of exhibit. There were displays of prototype technologies and models of the equipment and resources the Life Foundation has used throughout the years.
“-and if you look here, you can see the model of the rocket that Doctor Drake and his team designed to travel to outer space.” Michelle said cheerfully.
“Didn’t it explode though?” one student asked.
“A malfunction with a terrible cost,” a familiar voice said as he entered the room. Some students and adults gasped when they realized who the man standing before them was, “Hello everyone, I’m Doctor Carlton Drake, CEO and founder of Life Foundation. Is everyone enjoying themselves so far?”
Some students nodded and others replied, “Yes!”
Carlton smiled, “I’m glad to hear that. So what school are you guys from?”
“Clarendon Elementary School!” a young girl from the third grade class exclaimed.
Your boyfriend leaned down to be at eye level with her, “Is that so? What grade are you in, sweetie?”
“Third and I wanna save people just like you!”
Carlton chuckled, “What’s your name?”
“Maria.”
“Well, Maria, if you do well in school, try hard, and never give up, I’m sure you’ll be able to save people just like me.” He straightened up and looked at the group of chaperones and teachers. His eyes landed on you and his smile grew, “Well, everyone, I won’t keep you from your tour. I have to go back to work.” he nodded to Michelle and she nodded back, continuing her spiels.
The students and adults continued to follow her through the room, but you hung back, letting Carlton approach you.
“I thought you said you had to work,” you say teasingly.
Carlton smirked and rest his hands on your hips, “I couldn’t pass the opportunity to see you,” he presses a chaste kiss to your lips.
“I didn’t know you’re good with kids,” you say with a sigh.
He shrugs, “They’re our future. It’s good to understand them and teach them. That’s why you’re a teacher isn’t it?”
“Yes, that’s true. I’m just saying,” you leaned in closer, “Seeing you interact with Maria...stirred something in me.”
He licks his lips and gives a mischievous smile, “Yeah?”
“Mhmm. Just made me imagine how’d you be like if we had a little me or a little you.”
Carlton moans as his lips hover over yours, “If your students weren’t around, I’d take you right here.” he goes in for a kiss, but a cough interrupts you two.
You both turn to see one of Carlton’s employees, Dr. Skirth, “I’m sorry, Doctor Drake, but we need you back at the lab.”
Carlton’s body sags a bit as he sighs, “Alright. I’ll be there.” he then turns back at you, “I’m sorry I can’t stay longer.”
You shook your head, “It’s fine. You’re a busy man. Got people to save.” to lean in and press a loving kiss to his lips, “I’ll see you at home.”
“Alright.” he then watches you as you rush to catch up with your school group.

A/N: I wasn’t in the smutty mood. sorry.
Tumblr media
He was late. Again. You couldn’t believe it. Actually, no, you could. Your boyfriend of three years has been spending a lot of time at work lately. Most days, he’s been coming home late. You’d already be asleep, but you could feel him slip into bed acting as if everything is alright as he holds you and kisses you. You were tired of it. Absolutely tired.
You questioned him about it and he said he couldn’t talk about it, just that it was top secret work stuff. But you had this gut feeling that something was wrong. That he was hiding something.
You were tired of this and you were going to get to the bottom of it.

You waited in the living room for Carlton to come home. It was nearing one in the morning when you heard the jingle of his keys and then the door swung open. You heard him sigh and the faint thud of his shoes being toed off at the door.
“Y/N? What’re you doing up?” he asked as he makes his way to the couch where you sat.
“I was waiting for you, Car.” you said with a sneer. You were still dressed in the dress for your date night.
Carlton realized this and he ran his hands down his face, “Shit. I forgot.”
“Yeah. You seem to be doing that a lot lately. What I wanna know is why?” you stand and look at him with your hands on your hips.
“Sweetheart, I told you it’s because of work. My team and I are on the brink of a new scientific revolution!”
You scoff, “Are you sure?”
He looks at you in disbelief, “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means, Carlton, are you sure it’s work and it’s not some other woman you’re sleeping with?”
It was Carlton’s turn to scoff, “Are you serious right now?”
“Yes, I am. You’re hardly home anymore, you barely talk to me, you barely touch me! I only get to see you for twenty minutes at most before you’re out the door for work! You can’t even tell me what you’re working on!”
“Because it’s top secret!” Carlton raises his voice, “I thought you would understand! You knew what you were signing up for when we decided to pursue this relationship! I’m getting closer to making history! I’m working my ass off and what do I get when I come home? My girlfriend accusing me of cheating!”
“Don’t you dare play the victim here! You don’t get it either, Carlton! I work and I come home exhausted. I cook dinner and I wait and hope that you’ll come home on time because I miss you! Because I want to be in your arms! But I don’t get that! I’m here! Alone! Wondering if you’re truly working or seeing someone else and going out of my mind because I never feel good enough for you! I’ll never be good enough for you because all you truly care about is your work!”
You collapse onto the couch with a sob. You let your tears freely fall from your eyes, ruining your makeup. You cover your face with your hands, not wanting Carlton to see what a mess you’ve become.
You hear his footsteps approach you and feel the couch cushion dip as he sits down. You feel his arms wrap around you as he mutters, “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” You cry into his shoulder as he continues, “I’m an idiot. A selfish idiot. I never-I didn’t know that’s how you felt.”
“If you were here more then you would!” you cry out, your words slightly muffled by his jacket.
“I know. I know...Y/N,” he pulls you back slightly so he could look at you, “I want to do better. I want to be better, but I can’t. Not now. Work right now has been hectic because I’m so close to finding a solution to save everyone in the entire world and I’m not exaggerating. I just-I need you to be patient with me. I need you to understand that that’s what my long work days are going towards: saving people.
“So I promise that I’ll be the boyfriend you deserve, but after this break through. Can you promise to understand and be patient with me?” he asks as he wipes his tears from your cheek.
You nod, your lips still trembling as you mumble, “Okay.”
Carlton cups your face and pecks your lips, “Thank you. I love you, Y/N, and it’ll all be worth it in the end. I promise.”
