Designing SCP Foundation Site 79 Personel
4/...
Senior Researcher Christopher Louis
Tumblr media
Notes undercut
Design
He's most often described by his rectangle rim glasses, tidy hair and that he wears a suit instead of a lab coat most of the time
I gave him hazel eyes instead of straigh green eyes, because yknow, green with envy
Story
Egotistical, pridefull and brash, a senior research that specializes in biology. A loner that became the only reason Balefire was assigned as his assistant.
Really loves his wife and is on a path of revenge to what Herman did to her (she's not dead, just blind do to an incident Louis blames Herman for)

Love in the air
Interior Holodeck of the USS Fairytale. Emma, daughter of Captain Snow White, and Ensign Balefire, son of Dr. Belle, are on a date.
Emma (enjoying herself Shooting at the hollo image of enemies they encountered before) : this is very romantic.
Balefire: i don't see how but if you're happy I'm happy.
Emma: "This is very romantic."
Balefire: "I don't see how, but if you're happy I'm happy."
Emma: "You always know what makes me happy
Balefire: of course I do."
As the two ensign embrace each other for a passionate beep the intercoms Go on line Ensign Emma Nolan report to the captain's Ready room
Baelfire: Every time
Emma (giggling) is not often Bae.
Bae: "What did you do this time?"
Emma: "Nooooothing." (innocent look)
Bae: "Emma, your mother only calls you when you're in trouble."
Emma: "Oh, okay, you got me. I did do something."
Bae: "Tell me."
Emma (flirty tone): "Guess."
Bae: "Oh, come on. What did you do?"
Emma (flirty): "I cannot tell you. I might just have to show you later."
Bae: "Emma!" (with a chuckle)
Emma: "It's a surprise, bae. You'll love it, honest."
Baelfire: "Last time you said that we were stuck cleaning the bathrooms of the Fairytale."
Emma: "This time I promise it will be better."
Baelfire: "Fine Em. I am looking forward to your surprise."
Emma: "Oh, you won't be disappointed."
Bae: "Okay, but you should get going."
Emma: "Yeah, I know. I am headed there right now. See ya later."
The two give each other a kiss, and then Emma makes her way to her mother's ready room.
Snow: "Emma, I called you here an hour ago."
Emma: "Sorry, mother. I was on a holodeck date and didn't even hear the intercom. It is a huge ship."
Snow White: "Emma don't lie to me. I am well aware that everyone heard the intercom."
Emma: "Okay, but if this is about Ensign Lily, she started it."
Snow: "I did not know that."
Emma: "Well if its me about changing the label on the salt and sugar that was just a prank."
Snow: "What? I didn't know that either."
Emma: "Then why did you call me here, mother?"
Snow: "I called you here because I wanted your opinion. I was thinking of redecorating my ready room but now I am considering grounding you."
Emma: "Mom, I am 20 years old you can't ground me."
Snow: "Wanna bet, young lady?"
Emma: "I am not a child mother.
Snow: "And yet you insist on acting like one."
Emma: "Oh, come on, mother."
Snow: "Don't give me that young lady. If you are going to act like a child, then I will start treating you like one."
Emma: "Mother!"
Snow White: "Yes daughter."
Emma: "Mother! I'm a grown woman."
Snow: "Then prove to me you are. Because if I catch you behaving like a child again, I will treat you like one.
Emma: "Mother, no!"
Snow: "No, you don't want to prove to me you're a responsible adult?"
Emma: "Mother, I am a grown woman. I go on holodeck dates. I do my duties. I'm responsible."
Snow: "Emma, you're a good officer. I won't lie, you are better than me when I was your age. But you're reckless, impulsive, and don't think things through. You took a shuttle to play chicken."
Emma (blushingly): "That was because of a dare."
Snow: "My point exactly. What kind of grown woman risks her life like that? So, until you prove to me you are an adult, you will be treated as a child."
Emma: "No fair!! But fine, treat me like a child."
Snow: "Glad we understand each other."
Emma: "Mother, you are a cruel woman."
Snow: "I love you too sweetie."
Emma: "Mother, you know I love you, but I will be out here proving myself. That way you don't have to treat me like a child anymore."
Snow: "I know Emma, but you are my child. Just try and remember to be more responsible."
Emma: "Promise, mother."
Snow: "Good girl."
Emma: "Mother, I've got to get back to my date."
Snow: "Alright dear, just remember to be more responsible."
Emma: "I will mother. See you later."
Emma returns to her date and tells Baelfire everything her mother said.
Baelfire: "I think you'd look cute in pigtails and dresses."
Emma (playfully): "Shut up."
Baelfire: "What? Just saying."
Emma: "Whatever. You are still annoying."
Bae: "And yet you love me."
Emma: "Yes, I do. Let's get married."
Baelfire: "What? You can't be serious."
Emma: "Why not? We've been on a dozen dates. We love each other. Why not get married?"
Bae: "For starters, your parents would kill me."
Emma: "Dad was just saying that to scare you. It won't be a problem."
Bae: "Your mother could fire me."
Emma: "I know, but if you keep me happy, she won't have a reason to fire you, right?"
Bae: "Fine, let's get married then."
Emma: "Yay! I'm so happy. Now, what should we do for the wedding?"
Bae: "Well obviously invite our families, but we also have to search for space for you and me on this ship."
Emma: "Oh, right. So, we have to plan a wedding. Hmmm… Should it be on a holodeck or in the cargo hold? I think the holodeck would be nice. What do you think?"
Bae: "What about on the moon, or Planet Vegeta, or in the Enchanted Galaxy, our home world?"
Emma: "Hm, those are good ideas. But don't you think we should stay close to our families since we are planning on inviting them to the wedding?"
Bae: "We work and live with our family and friends. All we have to do is put in a request and your mother might say yes. If she says no we will do a holodeck wedding."
Emma: "True. Okay, we'll put in the request. I hope she says yes."
Bae: "What about food?"
Emma: "Hm, maybe we should eat something from the replicators. Oh, I've heard that there is an amazing pastry that they make on the bridge. Or I could ask one of the chef-officers to make us a meal."
Bae: "What about food?"
Emma: "Hm, maybe we should eat something from the replicators. Oh, I've heard that there is an amazing pastry that they make on the bridge. Or I could ask one of the chef-officers to make us a meal."
Baelfire: "You're right. Remember to get Tiana, the chef-officer."
Emma: "Okay, will do. What about our clothes? Should we stick with uniform or get something more formal?"
Bae: "I prefer formal."
Emma: "Okay, I guess we will have to ask a fashion officer for help. Or maybe mom will know what we should wear."
Bae: "If you say so, but I suppose we could do that. who's going to officially marry us?"
Emma: "Hmmm… Let's think… Should it be the captain? Or maybe the ships priest?"
Bae (surprised): "The ship has a priest?"
Emma: "Of course, many of the crew members have a faith. The priest is there to provide guidance and assistance when needed."
Bae: "Well then, I suppose the priest can marry us. What else do we need to plan?"
Emma: "Hm, the invitation. Do we send them out? Or just make them on the holodeck? Should everyone on board the ship be invited?"
Bae: "We could just use the intercom to invite everyone."
Emma: "Hm, we could do that. But what if we wanted some privacy or wanted to only invite a few friends?"
Bae: "That's true. Well, I guess the holodeck it is. We just need to settle on a date."
Emma: "Okay, when do we want the wedding to take place? I was thinking sometime soon, but is there a particular date you had in mind?"
Bae: "We need time to send all of this out, so what do you think in two weeks on a Friday night?"
Emma: "Sounds good to me.
Bae: "Am I going to tell my mom, you'll tell the captain or do you want us to tell them together?"
Emma: "I'll tell my mom You can tell your mom.
Bae: "Okay, love."
Emma: "And you should also tell the priest, so that he can get ready."
Bae: "Yes dear."
Emma: "This is exciting. I never imagined I would be getting married so soon."
The day of the wedding arrives. The ship's priest stands at the front of a beautiful area on the holodeck. A crowd of crew members are seated in the audience. In the front row are the bride, Emma, in an elegant white dress, and the groom, Baelfire, in a dark suit.
The priest: "Brothers and sisters, we are gathered here today to witness these two enter the holy bond of matrimony. Ensigns Baelfire Gold French, do you take Ensign Emma Ruth Swan Nolan Blanchard Charming Mills to be your wife, protect her, cherish her in life until death do you part?"
Baefire: "I do."
Priest: "And Ensign Emma Ruth Swan Nolan Blanchard Charming Mills, do you take Ensign Baelfire Gold French to be your husband, protect him, cherish him in life until death do you part?"
Emma: "I do."
Priest: "Then by the powers invested in me by the captain, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
(Baelfire kisses Emma. The audience erupts in cheers and clapping.)
Baelfire carries Emma bridal style out of the holodeck and throws the bouquets of flowers. Ensign Lily Page (Emma's best friend) catches it.
Baelfire: "That's my wife, everyone!"
Emma: "That's my husband everyone!"
The audience cheers and the celebration begins.
Baelfire dancing with Emma at the party.
Emma chatting with her friends.
Emma and Baelfire talking in the bridge.

(If you think the bats wouldn't give them codenames to talk about their usual child selves I'm sorry to tell you you're wrong. They would all have codenames to safely talk about each other without revealing identities.) (Yes this also includes the batkids who are too young or have no interest in vigilante work like Alina or Kiki or whoever else in the timeline the AU(s) take place in lol)
*ALSO sometimes included are Talons (Some might be familiar from some of my prompts) though that depends on the AU and timeline and if I'm including Court of the Owls stuff or not lol. (Most are they/them until they figure out their own identities because no one wants to just call them it.)
River Talon: 25 yrs old?
Stone “Coal” Talon: 19 yrs old?
Blade Talon: 23 yrs old?
Buddy Talon: 15 yrs old?
Sky Talon: 20 yrs old?
Wolf Talon: 18 yrs old?
Onyx Talon: 21 yrs old?
Data Talon: 27 yrs old?
*They got their nicknames/chose names based off of things they like. And yes there's question marks on their ages because no one really knows, what with the whole forced hibernation undead thing
Tell me about the Colony+ AU
So colony+ is technically a series of AUs for my existing AUs. And the other name for it is pretty self explanatory: Full Colony.
It's a, what if *insert AU* but it was all the batfam from every series included.
So for an example I'm going to put forth my main Cryptid Batfam AU. In it the bats included are Bruce, Alfred, Kate, Barbara, Dick, Cass, Jason, Stephanie, Tim, Duke, Damian & Jarro. 12 people.
In a full colony AU, it'd be at least 60, with Bruce having almost 40 kids alone without including things like unnamed clones. There's also the ColonyX AUs of the Colony+ which is the same, just also includes crossovers like Danny Phantom, Marvel, or whatever else.
Does that make sense?

Sunday reading recap (28-Feb-21)
Tumblr media
THINGS I WATCHED
Harley Quinn - S2 e4-5
Avatar: The Last Airbender - S2, e2-7 -- wooo! i finally got to meet Toph! i’m very excited!!!!
Nadiya Bakes - S1 e1-3
Coming 2 America  - look, i don’t even know what to say here. i put this on to mainly bc i wanted to see what everyone looked like now and to check in on Kiki Layne (amazing, beautiful, badass, needs to be in all the things) and then i just...let it run in the background while i dusted the living room and did a manicure and fucked around on tumblr - the nyt review called described it as ‘a genial, mostly inoffensive, sometimes quite funny sequel’ which i think is exactly accurate
THINGS I READ
a hat, a horse (a Hyundai), and the will to ride (story by synonym4life; art by elkleggs) - 67K, Stucky, post CW canon divergent - i just never get tired of them being absolute idiots about their feelings
💜👂 Draakenwood (Whyborne & Griffin #9) (Jordan L. Hawk, author; Julian G. Simmons, narrator)
💜👂 Balefire (Whyborne & Griffin #10) (Jordan L. Hawk, author; Julian G. Simmons, narrator)
Honeypot (cleo4u2, xantissa) - 133K, Stucky, canon-divergence - a really interesting canon-divergence set up; a little more angsty & dark than i normally go for but I enjoyed it
💜👂 Deosil (Whyborne & Griffin #11) (Jordan L. Hawk, author; Julian G. Simmons, narrator) - AND I’M DONE! This was the first time I read through all of them, beginning to end and it was even better than I anticipated. If you know, you know. And if you don’t, you should treat yourself.
plus 177K of shorter fic so shorter work shout out
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
[Podfic] Cat Nap (podfic by quietnight; original fic by galwednesday) - Stucky, 8K - one of my fave stories where Captain America accidentally steals the Winter Soldier’s cat
[Podfic] No Place Like Home (podfic by quietnight; original fic by asocialconstruct) - Stucky, 5K - i’m always a sucker for stories with multiple versions of one of them
Quarantine 101 with Dr. Rogers (and the Husband) (lordelannette) - Stucky, 5K - I haven’t really been into pandemic fics, since I’m using fic as an escape, but this one was charming & delightful - I loved the outsider POV & the soft domesticity.

BURNING BONES: THE WORLD HISTORY OF BONFIRES
“ The source of the word is suitably gruesome for this time of year when tradition holds that the veil between the world of the living and the dead is whisper thin. The bon in bonfire isn’t from the French word for good (no matter what the wonderful Dr Johnson thought), it’s from bone. The original bonfires were fires for burning bones. “
ARTICLE SOURCE: https://wordfoolery.wordpress.com/2020/10/26/burning-bones-the-word-history-of-bonfires/
INTERESTING ARTICLE. AS A BAIRN I WAS TAUGHT “BONFIRES” STEMMED FROM BALEFIRES...FIRE NORMALLY LIT ATOP HILLS WHICH SIGNALLED INCOMING RAIDERS, AND BEFORE *THAT*, “BAL”FIRES, TO AN ANCIENT SUN GOD.
OF DR JOHNSON, I’M NOT AMONG HIS FANS. HE WAS PRETTY SCATHING TOWARDS THE NATIVES OF THE LAND OF MY BIRTH AT TIMES...
“ Although Johnson admitted he understood nothing about Scottish Gaelic, he reported what he had been told about it: "Of the Earse language, as I understand nothing, I cannot say more than I have been told. It is the rude speech of a barbarous people, who had few thoughts to express, and were content, as they conceived grossly, to be grossly understood". He thus popularized the misconception that the Gaels had no written literature going as far as reporting "that the Earse never was a written language; that there is not in the world an Earse manuscript a hundred years old; and that the sounds of the highlanders were never expressed by letters, till some little books of piety were translated, and a metrical version of the Psalms was made by the Synod of Argyle."
THE ASSUMPTION THAT LITERACY WAS ONE OF THE FEW THINGS TO DESIGNATE INTELLECT AND CIVILISATION IS AN ANNOYING ONE. THE GAELS HAD A STRONG ORAL TRADITION IN WHICH PEOPLE WERE TRAINED FOR MANY YEARS TO MEMORISE, CONTAIN AND PASS ON NOT ONLY MYTHOLOGY AND LORE BUT THE HISTORY OF CLAN, PLACE, EVENTS AND MORE, AND TO DO IT *ACCURATELY*.
HOW MANY FOLKS CAN DO THAT NOW? PEOPLE NOW ARE SO USED TO STORING INFO ON THEIR DEVICES SOME I KEN HAVE TO LOOK UP THEIR OWN NAMES.... OK, SERIOUSLY, I *DO* KNOW FOLKS THAT HAVE TO LOOK UP THEIR OWN PHONE NUMBERS OR POSTCODES...
THAT THE GAELS WERE BARBAROUS SAVAGES WITH LITTLE CULTURE WAS A PREDOMINANTLY ENGLISH VIEWPOINT OF US. THE FACT THAT PEOPLE CAME TO SCOTLAND TO BE EDUCATED IN THE ORAL TRADITION AS WELL AS OTHER ARTS AND THAT INCLUDES WARFARE IS OFTEN IGNORED AND FORGOTTEN.
EVEN CUCHULAINN HIMSELF WAS SENT TO SCOTLAND TO BE TRAINED IN FIGHTING BY THE WARRIORESS SCATHACH.
SO AYE, JOHNSON CAN BUGGER OFF. SPENT MUCH TIME COMPLAINING ABOUT THE FOOD (BUT ATE PLENTY OF IT ALL THE SAME) AND MOANING ABOUT THE WEATHER (POSSIBLY IGNORANT OF THE FACT THAT THE FURTHER NORTH YOU GET, THE WILDER THE WEATHER ALSO BECOMES)
I DON’T KNOW IF BONFIRES ARE LEGAL OR NOT IN IRELAND (NOTE TO SELF: FIND OUT!) BUT I DO HAVE A WEE FIREPIT AND AM HOPING AGAINST HOPE THAT SAMNHAIN WILL BE A DRY ENOUGH NIGHT TO LIGHT A WEE FIRE. THOUGH GIVEN THE RAIN WE’RE HAVING AT THE MOMENT, IT’S PROBABLY 50/50 EITHER WAY.
WHERE I COME FROM, YOU’D LIGHT A BONFIRE THIS TIME OF YEAR AND SEND MESSAGES TO YOUR ANCESTORS IN THE FIRE VIA PIECES OF PAPER BURNED (DR JOHNSON WOULD NO DOUBT HAVE APPROVED) AND YOU SCRIED FOR OMENS IN THE FLAMES.
YOU ALSO BOBBED FOR APPLES, PEELED APPLES AND THREW THEM OVER YOUR SHOULDER FOR THE LETTER OF THE FIRST NAME OF YOUR FUTURE SPOUSE AND OTHER SUCH GAMES...YET THE APPLE IS IMPORTANT IN BOTH CELTIC AND NORSE CULTURE, NORMALLY REFERRING TO HEALTH AND LONGEVITY, AND FERTILITY.
ROASTING MARSHMALLOWS, ENTIRELY MODERN TRADITION BUT HEY, I’M NOT AVERSE TO GOOD CHANGE! THOUGH I’D RATHER DROP MY MARSHMALLOWS INTO A STEAMING HOT MUG OF CHOCOLATE AND JUST LET THEM MELT.
WHEN IT COMES TO FIRE IN GENERAL, THE ONLY TIME I LIVED IN A HOME WITHOUT A HEARTH WAS IN EXILE IN BELGIUM. IT FELT...STRANGE. WASN’T THE HOUSE’S FAULT..AT  ONE POINT IT DID HAVE A FIREPLACE, AS YOU COULD SEE BY THE DEFUNCT CHIMNEY ON THE ROOF.
SPEAKING FOR MYSELF HERE, I BELIEVE A HOME NEEDS A HEARTH, WITH A FIRE AT IT’S HEART. FIRE REPRESENTS SO MUCH AND THE ROOTS OF IT GO BACK SO FAR IT’S ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SEPARATE THE HISTORY OF FIRE FROM MANKIND.
AND AS WITH THE AUTHOR OF THE ARTICLE, I TAKE PRIDE IN USING FLINT AND STEEL OR FERRO ROD AND A WEE KNIFE I USE FOR A STRIKER, TO START A FIRE.
I DID, ONCE, MANAGE THE STICK RUBBING. TOOK ME AGES, LEFT MY HANDS AND ARMS ACHING AND I SWORE TO TAKE MY ZIPPO WITH ME NEXT TIME.  SO I COMPROMISE..THE ROD AND STRIKER IS “IT” IF I’M CAMPING OR CAN’T FIND THE HOUSE MATCHES.
BUT WHAT CAN BEAT SITTING ON A COLD WINTER’S NIGHT IN FRONT OF A BLAZING FIRE, TOASTING FEET OR MARSHMALLOWS, OR STARING INTO EMBERS AND SEEING LANDSCAPES OR EVENTS UNFOLD AND KENNING OUR ANCESTORS WOULD IDENTIFY WITH THE COMFORT, ENJOYMENT AND IMPORTANCE OF THE LIVING FLAME.
TALKING OF BONE BURNING, BTW, THAT TAKES SOME HEAT.
IN THE NORTH OF SCOTLAND THERE ARE “BURNT GLASS MOUNDS”. I’VE SEEN A FEW SO DISAGREE WITH THE “BATHING AND COOKING” THEORY, SIMPLY DUE TO THE SIZE OF SOME OF THEM, AND THE HEAT NEEDED TO CREATE GLASS. NOBODY’S GETTING IN A BATH *THAT* HOT....FOLKS INTERESTED IN GLASS MOUNDS CAN READ MORE HERE THOUGH THERE’S A LOT OF INFO ONLINE...
http://assyntfireandwater.aocarchaeology.com/what-is-a-burnt-mound/
SUTHERLAND WAS MY STOMPING GROUND BEFORE MOVING TO SCOTLAND, WITH ASSYNT NOT TOO FAR FROM US. FROM BURNT MOUNDS TO SOUTTERAINS AND “DRUID TEMPLES”, STONE CIRCLES AND HOLLOW HILLS, THE NORTH OF SCOTLAND IS AWASH WITH HISTORY AND ARCHAEOLOGY, MUCH OF IT STILL REMOTE AND UNINVESTIGATED. WHICH, IMO, IS NICE. :)
“SUTHERLAND” BTW WAS NORSE NAMED, FROM “SUDRLAND”, LITERALLY, SOUTH LAND.
IF YOU’RE LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE LIGHTING YOUR BALEFIRE THIS YEAR, MIND BE SAFE AND HAVE FUN. TRY A WEE BIT SCRYING. IF YOU FIND OUT NEXT YEAR’S GOING TO BE AN IMPROVEMENT ON THIS ONE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW...

Goodbye 2018!
As this strange, surreal year draws to a close I felt it might be nice to recap a resolution I made at the beginning of the year: to read more published books. My goal was 2 per month minimum.
Maybe it was a blatant need for escapism in any form, but I read a crap ton this year.
Never let it be said I do anything half way. Ahem.
In the interest of some form of organization I am dividing this literary amalgamation into categories: Fiction, Art & Hobbies, and Children’s Lit (I adore beautifully illustrated picture books. This isn’t a surprise.) My favorites are marked with bold and italic.
Fiction: Fiction consumed the latter half of the year, consisting of 1 action/adventure book and... a few dozen m/m romance novels. (Again--not a surprise). In the order of reading here are the spoils (with Amazon links, for which I get absolutely nothing.):

Art & Hobby: I love learning new things, and along with reading and studying several art books, I also took a few online art classes this year (two at JeanneOliver.com and several over at Skillshare). I’ve mentioned it before but I let my creative side slide for several years, giving up painting and drawing because I thought there was no point since art wasn’t my “Career”. (Spoiler: I was wrong). In no particular order, these were the art books I read (and refer back to), along with a few “lifestyle/creative living” books too.
Botanical Drawing in Color: A Basic Guide to Mastering Realistic Form and Naturalistic Color   by Wendy Hollender

Children’s Books: I follow many illustrators on instagram and YouTube and many of those have written or illustrated children’s books. Mary Blair has long been my favorite illustrator, and I already own two books featuring her work for Walt Disney & Little Golden Books among others. I love collecting children’s illustrated picture books, but I usually do pass them along to my nieces and nephews. Here are a few I would have a hard time letting go...
Home by Carson Ellis
How to Make Friends with a Ghost by Rebecca Green
Walt Disney's Cinderella (Reissue) (Walt Disney's Classic Fairytale) by Cynthia Rylant; illustrated by Mary Blair
Jane, the Fox, and Me by Fanny Britt, Isabelle Arsenault, Christine Morelli, Susan Ouriou
Mary Poppins (picture book) by Dr. P. L. Travers, illustrated by Genevieve Godbout
And that’s it! Whew! I’m not much for resolutions usually, other than reaffirming my own personal goals and promises to myself to take better care of
me
and giving back to the earth / being conscious of how I contribute to the continuation of a healthy planet. But reading was a good one for me. It gave me an outlet I didn’t realize I had missed quite as much as I did.
Can you believe I still read fanfic after all of this? I DID! Admittedly not as much as in previous years (and I accomplished very little writing of my own, but I did a little bit here and there and that’s okay too).
For now, it’s Goodbye to 2018 and hello to 2019! If you have any really wonderful LGBTQ authors to recommend, I would love to have some new blood! I’m pretty loyal when I find one I like and sort of inhale their catalogue.
Happy New Year!!

"Thanks mama but I can manage," balefire was being concern he didn't want to be a burden on his stepmother he appreciated her and loved her like one loves their mother, but he still felt as though he was imposing on her. "The medication he needs are a couple of painkillers which are on his prescriptions I believe one of Snow White's dwarfs has a pharmacy. As for dietary he can continue eating as he always has/" Dr whale replied to her "Oh and tell Gold I'll be sending him the bill."
are you sure you'll be okay?  ❜

"I don't know mom. I think am not I feel like am going to throw up and then explode and I don't even like going to hospitals I mean normal I wouldn't mind but this hospitals doctor is Dr Frankenstein am not sure I am ever going to be okay with that." Bae looked at his stepmother he never had a motherly figure on to her and it surprised him how easily he accepted her as a mother.

HELEN. THAT LINE. every book has a Peak Whyborne moment but that line in BALEFIRE. I haven't stopped laughing at how Peak Dr Percival Endicott Whyborne, of academia THAT WAS
that line was PEAK ACADEMIA WHYBORNE but do you know which line was PEAK WHYBORNE, A SMUG FART?
“Did you hear that, Griffin? They don’t even have electricity,” I said smugly. “I, for one, have always been in favor of modern progress. Our house has been wired for several years now, due to my insistence.”
FOR FUCK’S SAKE WHYBORNE

Belle logs
Dr. Belle, the greatest medic aboard the USS Fairytale, was dealing with her patient this time, her eldest son Ensign Baelfire. He happened to be in a relationship with the Captain's daughter Ensign Emma.
Belle "Bae you can't just jump in front of every dangerous mission to impress Emma."
Baelfire "I know mom it's just that when I am around her I want to make her feel safe special and protected."
Belle is concerned that Balefire is putting himself in harm's way just to impress Emma, his girlfriend. She wants him to be safe and not to take unnecessary risks just for Emma's sake. Balefire, on the other hand, seems more focused on making Emma feel special and protected than his own safety.
Belle "Listen, you're not even in combat, your a scientist! Now let's see those, it hurts here."
Baelfire "Who says scientists can't protect? Ouch, yeah, it hurts there."
Belle, the greatest medic on-board, is examining Balefire's injuries. Balefire seems to be in pain, but is willing to endure it to make Emma, his girlfriend, happy.
Belle "Your tearing me apart son."
Baelfire "How?"
Belle "On the one hand, I am very proud of you for being brave, strong, and a gentleman. On the other hand, it pains me to see you getting hurt."
Belle is proud of Baelfire being brave, strong, and a gentleman, but she is also concerned for him, as a mother should be, because she doesn't want to see him get hurt.
Baelfire "Relax mom, I'll be fine, it's going to heal."
Belle "This time it will, but what about next time? Now I know you're not going to like this, but your off duty until your leg recovers."
Baelfire "BUT MOM!"
Belle "No buts young man! Your health is more important than impressing Emma, I will not allow you to come to harm just to make her feel special."
Baelfire is not very happy about having to go off duty until his leg recovers. He clearly wants to keep impressing Emma, his girlfriend.
Baelfire (grumpily) "Fine, but it's not fair!"
Belle (giggling at how childish her son sounded) "Well, sweetie, nobody ever said life was fair."
Belle can't help but giggle at how childish Baelfire's response sounded, despite his attempt to sound serious and grown-up. She reminds him that life isn't always fair, and that he needs to accept that sometimes. She does it in a gentle and joking way, which is a sign of her good parenting.

Belle "Ensign Emma, do we have to do this every time? You can't just leap into everything without a plan. If you had looked, you would have noticed it was a trap. Lucky this time it was just a practice scenario."
Emma "I know, mom already gave me the lecture."
Belle seems to be annoyed by Emma's impulsive decisions, but understands that she's young and still needs to learn to make better choices. Belle is glad that this was just a practice scenario and nothing too dangerous.
Belle: "If I didn't know any better, I'd say you and Baelfire planned to get hurt on the same day to get out of duty. Tell me I am overthinking this, Ensign."
Emma (blushingly) "Uhm… your… overthinking… it!"
Emma, who has just been told that she's not making good decisions, is embarrassed and tries to convince Belle that they did not plan this together. However, Belle seems skeptical and it is possible that Emma is just trying to save face.
Emma (blushing bright red) "Uhm…no…we…uh…it was an accident really!"
Belle (sighs) "Emma, you can't just hurt yourself to get out of duty. If you want a night out just request a day off. You're good to go, Emma."
Belle realizes that Emma is trying to make an excuse for her behavior. Belle is understanding and nice about it but also tells her that she can't just hurt herself to get out of duty. She suggests that if Emma wants some time off she should request it, which is much more mature and healthy.
Emma (GASP IN Surprise) "Why didn't we think about that!"
Belle (a little annoyed) "Because you two are young and in love and immature."
Belle seems to be taken care of Emma, the reckless Ensign, today. However, soon Elsa the Chief of Security shows up completely injured. Mulan is supporting Elsa as to make sure she doesn't get injured anymore than she already is.
Belle "Get her sedated, what happened to her? Give me room people."
Seems like Belle has her hands full today with all the injuries, and there's even more to come…

Abduction
She was abducted by aliens when she was little.
There had been no gyrating pie-plate in the sky; no darting, illogical lights that someone might say, in passing, ‘must have been a satellite’ even if they didn’t entirely believe that themselves, ‘definitely not a plane…’ No beaconing, straining fingers of green, like the swaying fields of seaweed she hotly avoided when swimming up at the cottage, desperately kicking to keep her feet from drifting too low. Too close – (don’t touch me, don’t touch me).
She does not remember a blinding beam of preternatural light, but rather, a soft glow contained within a frosted-glass dome; a wan sun, afloat in a too-pale, lumpy sky. (Cottage cheese ceiling.) Incandescent, because it was too early yet for fluorescent to wholly usurp the sockets of lighting fixtures. It was to that unflickering and diffused balefire that she was pulled, severed.
Herself in two: one part, weighted through the spine, one part seized soul.
She was supine and still, upon a bed that was vaguely familiar; a sterile table, not unlike the one she will lay on many years later, surrounded by a peculiar and casual group of white-masked creatures waiting to draw merciful scars on her body. (‘Where is Dr Martian? Can someone go see if he’s been caught up in the hall talking to someone, please?’). Bound, without having to be bound. Alien technology – something working on the joints and limbs to hold her from herself, from the aching want to wrench free; to return to earth, whole and unscathed, sutured back together.
Instead, she was motionless, unable to wriggle from the uncouth, unkind and curious invasions of a sort yet unknown to her; of interplanetary strangeness, working its way across her skin in a terrible crawl, like it did not yet know what skin was, nor all the things it could do to it. Invading and investigating her, an uncharted galaxy, it wrested control, occupied her stars and her moons and her comets and made them its own.
It spoke to her through a dull halogen buzz, the anchors of a vaguely English language forming through its odd mouth-parts. Asking in pitiful vowels and sharp consonants for her compliance. When it spoke, it was is as if over an intercom in the space between them, breaking and breathy and staticky, removed; altogether unintelligible except that somehow, she conceded every inch that it demanded.
She surrendered to its enormous, greedy gravity. Fled to the untouchable glow of incandescent light and stippled, stucco stratosphere.
Away from the more dangerous parts of its war on her, she could see herself, as if from the domed vista of a windowed observatory. She was small and it was large and there was no getting away from this invasion. There was only hope that it would find this new territory wanting. That it would find no succour in the valleys between thighs and salt-water bodies that formed in the dips under her eyes.
          A quick abduction.
A thin hope that what it would leave behind would be whole and familiar and that it would never come back again.

Rumple was ecstatic but also nervous. He had been there to help Milah birth Balefire and now he was going to help deliver his own son. He took pride in that. "Alright well there is no changing it now." He rolled up his sleeves. "PUSH!!!"
Belle was a bit, discombobulated by the magic but was quickly wheeled in. They just had to wait for Dr. Whale who was currently running late. Belle had a terrified expression on her face. "What if I begin to give birth and there IS no doctor?" She whispered.
Worlds Colide
@brave-heart-juliet
Belle was walking from the library when she saw heard a zap then shortly saw a car she didn’t recognize. She waved to the car, gesturing to roll down the window. “Hello? Are you lost?”

~ Judi E. Easley for Blue Cat Review
What it’s about…
Beatrice Ledrey is new to Aviario, Connecticut. She’s working at Blue Ribbon Florist and she’s slowly getting to know her new town and making friends. She’s most interested in the store The Balefires for its magical stock and the interesting people who work there.
Officer Troy McLaren and the local police are working on three crimes that they have finally decided are related, three missing people. Except one of the people is no longer missing.
How does the magical and non-magical community of Aviario work together (or not) to keep their town and secrets safe?
Technical Tidbits…
The cover was awesome. I really like the fonts that Ms. D’Onofrio has chosen. The array of Louise’s tarot cards juxtaposed against Natalie’s old mended bunny create a nice presentation.
The storyline is good with Beatrice being new to the town and just getting to know people and places. It allowed the author to introduce us along with her character. To some light characters and to some dark characters.
The characters were very well crafted. As Beatrice gets introduced, we get to meet and know the people of the town. Some of them we get to know in a deeper way than others and some, I’m sure, we’ll get to know better later on. Some we get to know through chatter and gossip and others we get to know through their own conversation and actions.
The pace was a bit stop and go and distracted me. There was always something going on, but did it further the story or was it just something to happen to distract the reader?
The tension was almost maintained but was a bit shaky because of the pace. The quality of Ms. D’Onofrio’s writing keeps it afloat and interesting.
And this is where you STOP if you don’t want to see any SPOILERS…
The good, the bad, and the ugly…and how much it lit up my life… ✰✰✰✰⭒
The fact that this is closely related to a gaming world is evident when you think about it. There is an underlying darkness that you keep expecting to show up at any time. Beatrice is new to town and just getting to know people. She starts getting close to the gals at The Balefires, especially Louise Mullein, and POW! She’s dead! I feel like I don’t know who the players are and who the game master is going to throw at me next. Why did Louise die? What was the actual cause of her death? Was there a purpose in her death? I really liked Louise. (tear)
BUT…Will we find out in the next book? This book isn’t a continuation of book one. Will future books follow more of an overarching storyline or not? This story has lots of loose ends and plenty of stories left to tell. What will the author do with the rest of this story?
There’s plenty of story left in Ral O’Dailigh and Natalie Marlowe Feistus even if they don’t stay together. But Ral seems to have something going on that he’s struggling with all on his own. And Natalie has so much potential from her past. And what about her father, the ever helpful Dr. Feistus? There’s another couple in April Maine and Jon Knight. But will Ral let them be? And Troy McLaren with his love for “Woop, Woop!” Does he really know what his gift is or how to use it?
And just who is Janus and The Organization? We really have only touched up against them and had hints of who they are. Will we find out about them? They were a frustration and a distraction for me. They kept showing up in the shadows and now I’m waiting for them to do something big. Make lots of trouble or fix something. I’m not sure how good or bad they may be or what their purpose is. Since Ral keeps them secret, I tend to think that they may not be totally good. But like his claws, this secret will out.
It took me a bit to feel comfortable with some of the “accents”. Once I just let the letters run through my head as the author put them down, it made sense and I was more at ease with them. Ral’s “accent” was the one that I really worked at to be sure I was understanding what he was saying. I loved Nat’s way of tacking “dove” onto her sentences just like some people say “love” or “m’dear”. It made me wonder if Natalie has a soft, gentle side to her. For some reason, I want to like Natalie.
I strongly recommend this second book of Aviario to you if you are looking for something entertaining with a dark side.

Designing SCP Foundation Site 79 Personel
3/...
Dr. Herman Puspito
Tumblr media
Notes under cut
Design
Only described as an old man with grey hair and a constant melancholic expression
Author confirmed hes in his 60s
Other than that no further description.
I decided to give him a light blue sweater vest to match with Lucy, seeing she's his assistant
He has his wedding ring on a necklace under his shirt
Story
While the story centers around Balefire and Lucy, Herman and Louis are the basis for the internal conflict happening within site 79
He just wants the best for the site and is trying his best to keep it afloat, seeing he was recommended to be an assistant site director but declined.
He specializes in sociology
And handles most interviews
Though Louis in his clouded judgement see him as a psychopath, Balefire in his professional judgement as psychologist see him as a Sociopath
He's a tired dad who's trying his best.
Weirdly enough he still get shaken up when something goes south
