DQB2 Tips and Tricks Trivia:

The default names / canonical names for the builders are shown on some of the images of the Tips & Tricks entries. Here's an example:

The male builder is named "Bildrick". The female builder is named "Creatrix".

have you done anything with unlocking gendered character customization in dqb2? is it possible? i've been wanting so badly to mix and match options from both categories for years...

So, as it's understood right now there are 2 ways to change your appearance. One is with the clothes ID.

This one will change depending on the gender you have set (1 or 2). It's what happens when you equip armour or change looks in the dressing table. So you can't have male clothes as female, for example.

The second one is with the body ID.

In this one there are different IDs for male and female, so you can set the gender to 1 and have the other gender's clothes.

This is only applicable to NPCs as far as I know right now. (The player is stuck with the base builder appearance so no "body" value exists I believe)

We've been neglecting builder's save data (sorry!) but if I figure out something else I'll comment on it.

[With body it also applies to hair and face, which is not really gendered on the game's eyes. I'm not sure about the wigs from the dressing table]

You can totally make an NPC that looks like builder though. Or play dress up if you want

i've chosen to keep monsters and animals the same as they are, so i was tempted to make Wrigley and Goldirox an Orthworm and a shiny Golem respectively but decided against it (but the monsters have Pokemon typings now)

i was going to challenge myself not to use too many mammalian Pokemon but in the end, i was was "fuck we ball" and just did it to my heart's content

day 14 - dqb2 au (again, shiho is included so it counts) im so amazing. anyway. spoilers. this will probably be the last au

Builder - Minori! The (female) builder is usually blonde with pigtails, so I considered going with Saki. For most of the game, she's described to have a stupid, dopey smile. She wants to spread creation and make others happy. She'll even help monsters who want her dead.

Malroth - He's the one with amnesia, so naturally, Tsukasa. He's violent, he's sort of the human form of the literal Lord of Destruction and he loves high-fives.

Lulu - Airi, mostly because of the pink ponytail. She can be sweet, but mostly stubborn and demanding (which is where I'd say their similarities end).

Rosie - An. She's deeply passionate about what she does and refuses to give up. Also, Pastor Al (iykyk).

Babs - Not too different from Rosie in that sense, and I'd say she's the closest of the NPCs to the builder (discluding Malroth and Lulu), so Haruka!

Anessa - SHIHO. She's seen as a stick-in-the-mud but really, she's just trying to protect others. On top of that, the war in Moonbrooke is all she knows. Even then, she has a soft spot for cute things. She lied throughout this island about her beliefs. She claimed to believe in Hargon's lies about destruction being the true path when she had always aspired to build. She's close the to the soldier Warwick, who turns out to be a traitor and dies. I decided not to assign a character to him because I hate him (he was scared to die after seeing those close to him do so but I still hate him).

Yeah that's sort of it. I don't care enough about the rest of the characters to try to find anyone who's even remotely similar.

I couldn’t figure out how to draw Captain Whitebones (plz help.. how do I draw cartoon skeletons lol) so I drew the main group instead. I had fun doing a more chibi-ish style.

Just a little heads-up for the people that follow me more actively, I’m going to get dental surgery in a few days and I’m probably going to disappear for awhile while I recover. Is it bad that I am absolutely scared shitless? I’ve done this before but I’m still absolutely terrified... I’ve been drawing and gaming constantly just so I won’t think about it..

What would Malroth do if he overheard Perry asking the builder why Malroth hangs off of their feet when the builder uses the windbraker it's especially funny if it's a female builder cause it kind of looks like he's looking up her dress tbh

"Aren't ya worried that 'e could be sneakin' a peek up there?"

"What? Perry, that's.. Ridiculous."

Malroth was just passing by, carrying a crate of supplies to leave at Lillian's restaurant, but he had to stop and eavesdrop. It was his friend and the meek, weak, annoyance that was Perry. He rolled his eyes when he first heard them talking, but the whole 'sneaking a peek' part had him curious and partially suspicious. Even more so with how red the Builder's face was, she was embarrassed.

"What? Didn't think of that before now, didja?" There was most definitely concern in Perry's voice,"Ya know, ya don't know if Malroth is as innocent as he plays as, aye?"

"Well, I just. Dunno. I never thought about it. Why, w-why would I think about him looking up my skirt while gliding?!" She was growing more frazzled, anxious even as she began to run her hand through her hair. The ponytails growing loose, and many strands were becoming strays.

A sound of a throat being cleared startled the two, panic rising on their faces when they saw it was exactly who they were talking about. Malroth looked disinterested, cocking an eyebrow at their reactions at the very least. He shifted his footing some, the crate of goods resting on his shoulder.

"Hey, do you mind taking this to Lily's Treats? I just realized I forgot to have a chat with Perry here about something he needed."

"Oh? S-Sure! No problem, Mal. Meet with me at the memorial after?"

"Mhm, it'll be quick but don't rush."

After handing her the crate, and seeing her jog off around the corner, his glare intensified towards Perry.

"Must think pretty low of me, huh?"

"Wh-What?! No! O' course not, Malroth!"

"I don't know, looking up a girl's skirt is pretty skeevy, as far as I've been told... Despicable, even... So, why don't I tell ya what the view is like?"

Perry was sweating bullets, eyeing the weapon Malroth had on him at the time. He gulped, shaking his head, stuttering out that it wasn't necessary and several apologies. The Master of Destruction chuckled, perhaps more darkly than usual.

"The landscapes around here are beautiful, you know. Fantastic, almost like a dreamscape if anything... That's what I'm looking at, you idiot. Not to mention I have terrible control, so me with a windbreaker? I'm more likely to tear it up than glide with it.... Also she wears shorts underneath, you damn pervert."

"H-How am I the pervert?? You just admitted to--"

"You think I looked up on purpose??? It happens when you're taking in your surroundings up there. Now, I don't want to hear a word of this, ever again. Got it? Unless you want the last sight you ever see be a bird's-eye view of Green Gardens."

DQB2 X PMD AU thingy

Pikachu and Buneary as the male and female builder respectively came naturally to me. Malroth is an Unovan Zorua cause I think it captures his character. Might tweak these designs in the future, ie adding some clothes/accessories (not a lot though). Apologies by how uncanny this is, cause I’m not very proficient at drawing Pokemon designs compared to furry designs.

Wanted to rekindle my Dragon Quest AU but I haven't really gotten the confidence to do so (cause translating Toriyama's style into mine intimidates me now), so I figured I could do my furry DQ AU on the side while focusing on my PMD DQ AU more, and I figured Builders 2 is the perfect place to start considering Malroth is your buddy like your partner in PMD.
