Oh, he had fucked up. He knew he had. Her expression said everything and if it wasn’t obvious enough then her posture, the way she was crossing her arms, totally said it all, yet he tried to make it right by gently embracing her and nudging her cheek with his nose. “I’m sorry,” he mumbled against her skin, genuinely meaning it and pressed a soft kiss to the corner of her mouth.

It was silly, but Nick was carrying her around the house wherever she wanted to go, with her legs wrapped around his waist and his hands supporting her by the back of her thighs, taking joy in doing so. He also couldn’t help himself but chuckle the way Scarlet was reaching out to grab some snacks out of the cupboard. After all, the challenge was to do so without Nick letting her down. When she finally managed to grab them he cheered. “You did it, baby!” A kiss was first pressed to her cheek before he placed another one on her lips.
