When he said that I was like who’s kid’s but then I realized he was referring to Chaka, Mecca , Matt , and Fruity. They’re kids because, they’re all at least 17 (they go to high school) and Alex , Jen , and goat are around their 20’s.

Downtown Continued that takes place in the early 2000s maybe where there’s a nerd girl who becomes Serena’s girlfriend, who’s also been sexualized and treated badly in nerd spaces by nerd men or by men who try to change her in general and at first Alex with his toxic 90s mentality is like “I can’t believe it she went all lesbo on me for a fake female nerd !” and at first is angry but then starts fetishizing Serena and her girlfriend because y’know men, especially back then, thought women making out was the hottest thing ever, and is even more shocked when Chaka and Mecca come out as dating and they all call Alex out because he’s the problem and he has to learn how to change by being better and learning how to stop taking Jen and Goat’s advice when it comes to women because Jen despite everything is a pick me and Goat is just disgusting.

Like even Fruity has to learn how to change because he starts sexualizing Mecca and Chaka’s relationship and even has to relook everything when Matt comes out as gay and again, toxic 90s mentality, lets it threaten his friendship with Matt.

There could even be a pride festival episode where Alex comes out to try to support Chaka to show her that he’s trying to understand, Goat comes out to try to see “girl on girl action” and Jen comes because she has nothing better to do on a Friday night and like Alex is trying but he’s still like “All these girls who like girls, it’s just so weird that they don’t like guys or even the guys here wouldn’t even give Serena a second glance, it’s so weird” and Goat says something very 90s like “Oh they probably got abused by a male figure in their life and that’s why they’re like this”

And Fruity comes with Matt to try to prove to him that the whole “being gay thing” isn’t an issue to him but he still grimaces when he sees two men holding hands or calls it gross when two men kiss and is also like Alex where he’s like “All these lovely ladies and they like other girls can you believe it ?!? They don’t even want a threesome !”

Then something happens where some bible thumpers start harassing people at the festival and being bigoted and even violent and even Alex and Fruity have a moment of clarity where they’re like “The same sec thing is weird but I’m not like them…. Right ?” and it actually makes them think and want to change when they see their own friends getting harassed.

And I think at first Fruity would be like how Virgil was in the Static Shock comics when it came to Rick’s sexuality where he got gay bashed and was like “well you should have kept it to yourself !” but then feels terrible after seeing it happen to Matt

Also the comic store owner protecting Serena and her girlfriend because he’s basically like Ving Rhames’ gay characters in movies where people don’t expect him to be gay or an ally because he’s a big black macho man

Just watched Downtown MTV and it was a fun little series. It’s on YouTube has 13 episodes. This is gonna be a new small obsession of mine now.😎 Also first post on this app hell yeah!

🛸It follows this young group of people who live in New York. You have Alex who tries to date Serena over the course of the episodes. Jen who is his best friend, Chaka who is his sister, Mecca who is the best friend of Chaka. You also have Fruity, Matt, Goat and some other characters throughout the story. Each character has a realistic feel to their personality as well as atmosphere. The flow of dialogue in this series is very natural and sounds like you are listening to a conversation between friends.

⭐️Rate: 4/5

It was fun to watch and very easy to binge. I wish there was more episodes. I really liked how it felt natural as well. The animation was fun and unique and had a grunge look too it. I’d definitely rewatch this series for fun.

been watching a lot of MTVs Downtown lately

found full eps on yt and have come to realize that no matter the year teenage boys stay the same. tbf teen girls too but guys are allll the same regardless of decade, or city. its good tho i really like it also we neeeeed to bring shows like that and Daria back same w the animation style its so nice and fluid and smoooooooth love it tho its possible i relate to Jen a bit too much lol
