2024-10-30: Area 30 (Barbershop)

The big sign out above the front door says "BARBER" with the corresponding red, white, and blue pole nearby, but the letters painted on the door say "Mr. Leopold Winters, Tonsorial Artist." It's situated in a narrow storefront downtown, immediately visible to anyone entering downdown from the west, south, or the railroad.

Inside the shop is exactly what you would expect from a barbershop. There's the chair, with a washbasin on a nearby counter also filled with the tools of the hairdressing and shaving. A bench lines one wall for people who are waiting for Leopold to finish a haircut, and a stove keeps water hot for shaves and hair washing.

Leopold is a man who arrived a few years ago, one of the few people who moved here from California instead of the other way around. He has a slight Sheffield accent (most Americans would just call it an English accent, though) from emigrating to the States as a kid when his father spent the family fortune chasing gold in California after the discovery at Sutter's Mill in 1848. Leopold is great at following the instructions people give for their haircuts, but he wishes more people would let him have more autonomy to do try different styles. So many people could look so much better with some of the styles from California, if only they were willing to try!

He's also handy with a blade, and always has on his person a Taylor Sheffield locking switchblade that used to belong to his father. Unfortunately, it's because some of the men in town think that Leopold is trying to steal their wives because he's in such high demand for women's hair styling, and Leopold must be ready to fight at a moment's notice. He never has to draw blood, though, because he just so fast. The blade is already up to his opponent's neck by the time they unsheathe their bowie knife.

Hey all, YoshiKing here! :3 Im gonna recomend yall some kick ass beats ewe!!! This time its an album so lets get to it! Drumroll! Budda-dudda-budda-dudda... BAM

WHOOOOOOOOO!!! This FRESHH album is commin at'chya straight from the land of big bugz and Marsupials Australia!! In particular Melbourne! The Name? Drunk Mums. The Album Also Drunk Mums! And my oh my is this a good album. This one goes for a more contemporary punk feel. I'd call it Post modern Punk, along with some strong garage punk vibes to it also. The guitar has oddly chippy and airy harmonics for punk tracks (Thats why I call is contemporary more pliably to newbies of Punk! :3) Of course it still has strong and rad distoriton like most punk guitars just leans harder on some chippy vibes to it! Along with that it has some more traditional punk sounds to it, like Simple Chord Progression, Strong Bass, Powerful drums (Their drummer loves his Cybals and I LOVE ITTTT ^w^) and is sung in a Paruando sound! (Parurando: Japanese word for singing in a speaking style! :p) oh and did i mention i LOVE music theory 7w7

Some of my fave tracks areee:

Big Titty Trippin': The opening bass line is super catchy, the back and fourth background guitar going like DownDown UPUP DownDown UPUP. It's hard to describe with out sheet music its like an: F note then fallowed by a F,G#,C chord. It sounds diminished but this is just me playing round on my piano, i dont have prefect pitch. al least thats what the main chorse sounds like. the secondary main bridge ROCKS! I love love LOVE the drums keep a constant double time kick snare during it and the bass and guitar harmonizing, it's kicks ass. But thats enough nerding out on this track! 2 more To go! :]

Switchblade: Here Lots of some beach rock that they have in this album. Those airy harmonics i mentioned come full force here. mixded with the bass it makes for an awesome track. I LOVE THE SOLO AT THE END you can really here those chippy harmonics then! Plus in the chores when he's all like "CAUGHT ON A SWITCHBLADE!!" and instruments really add to how hard it goes particularly that bass in that part AHH. It sounds like the Tonic is a D in that part, all other harmonies seem to derive from the D in the back there with the bass part! over all AWESOME SONGG.

Hematemesis: This track is the most punk one they have on this album in my opinion. Its Uptempo and trate only shared by like 3 or 4 other tracks, (Outstayed Your Welcome, Chitty Chitty, Sewing Up My Mouth, And Comatosed!) The Guitar is not particularly crunchy and distorted, but it at least feels more substantial less airy, more PUNK. The drums go HARD lots of noise and i love it! and the singer dose an iconicity punk thing, Screaming, not that deep distorted hard heavy metal scream. an airy screechy scream a punk classic. plus you could EAT of that chord resolution at the end there!

Over all how would i rate the album named "Drunk Mums" a solid 8/10. In my opinion there only one eh track and its "The Business" a down tempo kinda washed out rock song. And i dont like it much. But every other song is very Good. But if you're under the age of like 14 i would not recommended it. It talks about sex in some tracks, tittys (Duh) and cum LOTS OF CUM. I love vugarity in my punk songs. But if you're young or grossed out by that. This is not the album for you...

Nature Prevails in Kitchener-Waterloo

Even within the grey concrete jungle, there's a splash of beautiful colour from plants and parks located in the city. From planters to flower beds to the entirity of Victoria park, there's always an eye catching plant to look at while visiting KW.

Victoria park in Waterloo is a 24 hectare paradise of plants within the city, with trees and trails to give urban life a touch of green. It's the oldest park in Waterloo, opening in 1896. It's a perfect place for dog walking, event venues and quaint picnics, being open to everyone at any hour. Nothing beats the site of the pond or the fresh smell of dew on plants in the morning, except seeing the sunset from a lovely greenspace such as this.
