Wounds that have not closed...
There he sits… sitting…watching the sun go downBreathing the silence that surrounds himwith darkness threatening his foreheadbelieving, thanks to his surroundingsthat it will be impossible for him to see his last injurythus deceiving part of him…The part that hurts the most to openAll those corners…to trust, to believe, to imagine, to dreamand even all those…that he only keeps for himselfHe…

Age: Twenty-two.
Feeling: Optimistic.
If anything, coming to terms and conditions with my own understanding of literacy has necessitated a sort of comfort in knowing I can’t know it all. I came to college (yes, even grad school) assuming that through study, all things would become knowable. Despite my every attempt, though, I’ve come to recognize that, put simply, it won’t happen.
What I can do -- the part I can control and the part I’ve learned is most important -- is see my strengths and my interests, the validity within them, and hold myself up on the shoulders of the people who’ve made it possible for me to talk about them with the authority and purpose I feel I do.
I have become, on some level, a friend to the unknown. I want not to see it all and take it in one feel swoop. I want to meet what I don’t know in the middle, keep a distance from the story behind a face without making it a trial of knowledge.
It’s music that brought me here, and the voices around me who brought it to my life and told me, in the end, that music speaks true; I have lived around the sound and it lives within the downbreath. I see story in my photography -- story for myself, if not for others, and for once, I am content to know that a story for me is a story enough.
I am lost.
It’s horrifying.
I love it.

A F T E R P A I N S I hear a lot of “nobody told me about them!” and “I forgot about them!” Caused by involution (shrinking) of the uterus after baby is born. This is your body’s way of helping the uterus return to its former size and position. They can range from mild to moderate and almost everyone experiences them in some form. They tend to be more uncomfortable after each pregnancy - think of it like your uterus had to work a little harder to go back to it’s previous size after each stretch (pregnancy). Breastfeeding can also cause more of them due to the release of oxytocin (the hormone that causes uterine contractions). This is mother nature’s way of helping to prevent excessive blood loss postnatally. What can help? Regular analgesia for the first few days after your baby is born. Gentle movement like a small walk Keeping your bladder empty Some say Arnica can help with the discomfort. What was your experience like?⬇️ 📸: @nixiephotonevada #todandb #todeliveryandbeyond #pregnant #pregnancy #afterpains #downbreathing #birthphotographer antenatal #postnatal #postnatalplan #postnataltips #labour #labortips #labor #labourtips #newborn #newbaby #newmum #antenatalclass #onlineantenatalclass #onlinehypnobirthing #onlinehypnobirthingclasses #due2021 #duedate #40weekspregnant #overdue (at County Mayo) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMpv1wbn4xl/?igshid=1hbrww4thldp9

J U S T B R E A T H E I have always said - never underestimate the power of your breath. When everything else seems out of your control, you can almost always control your breath. This can be especially helpful if, during labour and birth, your plan changes course. ‘Up Breathing’ is the name given to the type of breathing that works best during the active stage of labour. This is especially beneficial for helping you to relax and ease any tension (interrupting the fear-tension-pain cycle). ‘Down Breathing’ is the technique used in the second stage of labour. This is more about helping and gently nudging baby down through the pelvis. This type of breathing can be very helpful if the Fetal Ejection Reflex does not kick into action, helping you avoid Valsalva Pushing. (See my last few posts for more on the types of pushing). Have you tried any breathing techniques? Did you see my new Reel where I guide you through a breath? Let me know ❤️ 📸: @paulinetakesphotos #todandb #todeliveryandbeyond #pregnant #pregnancy #pregnancytips #labor #labour #labourtips #labourandelivery #laboranddelivery #midwife #upbreathing #downbreathing #newmum #newborn #mum2be #due2021 #antenatalclass #antenataleducation #onlineantenatalclasses #hypnobirthing #onlinehypnobirthingclass #hypnobirthingireland #labourphotography (at County Mayo) https://www.instagram.com/p/CLpkTW0n2II/?igshid=5stni4i7bcmi
