Imagine you’re Corroded Coffin’s hardcore fan who owns a bar and you keep seeing this one guy (whose name is Steve) with a different member every weekend night.
Problem is you’re 99% sure they don't know they’re all dating this Steve guy at the same time. Which is awful and cruel of him.
Although Steve seems nice enough (always leaves big tips and says thank you to your staff), you know from experience that you can’t judge a book by its cover. Your long line of “nice” exes can prove that.
And despite everything, you have to admit Steve is unfairly attractive. No wonder these guys are so whipped for him that they had collectively fallen for his deception.
So as Corroded Coffin’s loyal fan, you seethe and fume on their behalf. Never outrightly rude to Steve because duh, you don't want to act like an ass when Eddie Munson is sitting there, utterly besotted to Steve who has been stringing him and his bandmates all along this whole time.
So you plan, scheme, drop a note here and there each night they come to the bar with Steve, hinting about the truth, telling them to keep an eye out, that they’re being played like a fine violin in Steve’s hands.
It’s the best you can help without making a scene and probably causing unnecessary scandals.
Frankly, their love lives aren't your business, but your conscience doesn't allow you to sit this one out.
Except their reactions aren’t what you expected. You can see Eddie or Jeff may let it slide, but when even Gareth and Doug just look amused, you realize maybe you had had it all wrong.
The next Saturday night, you watch Doug and Gareth hang out with Steve, both give Steve heart eyes, and both jokingly fight over Steve who looks beet red.
Then Sunday night rolls by and you see the same thing happen with Jeff and Eddie.
The only difference is that they both steal kisses from Steve when they think no one looks. And just like the previous night, Steve glows under their flirting and unfettered affection.
For the first time since you started observing Steve from afar, you finally notice how gone he is for his boyfriends. How he’s just as bad when it comes to them. Completely smitten and infatuated.
Shaking your head, you go back to your job, happy that your favorite metalheads have found their person and wondering when it will be your turn.
Maybe one day soon.

STWG Prompt: Pisces
A magazine slapped down onto the table and Eddie dropped into his seat just a moment later. "Gentlemen! We enter into a new month, it is time for the ritual."
"The ritual," Dougie and Jeff echoed, rehearsed.
"Not the ritual," Gareth groaned, stabbing at his lunch. "It's going to be the same as last month, it always is."
"...what's the ritual?" Lucas asked, saying it slowly like Eddie might yell at him for asking.
"Oh, horoscopes!" Eddie opened the magazine with a grin, paging through it and clicking his tongue. "Hopefully no plagues are written in the stars."
"Horoscopes." Mike looked at him flatly. They'd only been sitting at the Hellfire Club table for a week now, and in that week, horoscopes hadn't been mentioned once. "You believe in that shit?"
"Nah. My mama loved 'em though. And it's kinda fun." He tapped the magazine on the table and cleared his throat. "We enter Libra season, may it be prosperous for our resident Libras!" He gestured to Gareth and Jeff. "It says here that Love is within reach! You just need to be brave enough to grasp it."
Gareth glanced at Jeff and scoffed. "Total bull."
Jeff grinned. "I don't know. Eddie, is this your little ploy to confess your long buried feelings for me?" He fluttered his eyelashes and blew a kiss."
"You want to be my type so bad it almost makes me love you," Eddie teased as he leaned in just a little closer.
Dustin balked and Mike had gone pink, staring down at his sandwich and refusing to look up from it. Gareth rolled his eyes again and gestured to the boys. "What are you guys? What are your signs?"
"How am I supposed to know that?" Lucas still seemed a little confused. "Is it like... by month? My birthday's in April."
"Early or late? What day?" Eddie tapped at the pages. "That'll make you either an Aries or a Taurus."
"The 8th. Early."
"Aries! According to your horoscope, you'll need to be brave and face your fears in the coming month. An emotional cold front is coming your way, young one."
Lucas glanced over his shoulder towards another table, where Max was sitting with her hood up, staring out the window at the overcast sky. "I'm pretty sure I've been facing an emotional cold front for a while already."
Dustin leaned forward curiously. "I'm a Pisces, what does it say for that?"
"Why do you know that?" Mike asked, some of his initial standoffish-ness worn away.
"Steve and Robin have this game where they make up terrible horoscopes for each other." He shrugged. "Robin's a Pisces too, and Steve is a Cancer."
Eddie hummed. "Pisces, huh?" He too a bite of his apple. "Be extra cautious with your belongings. Damn, looks like someone is going to rob you, Henderson. So the stars decree."
"So the stars decree," Dougie and Jeff echoed.
"I hate it when you guys do that." Gareth threw a chip at Jeff's head.
"Why do you think we do it?" Jeff grinned and threw the chip back. "Come on, Eddie, what's Dougie's? Something about doom and gloom, right? Something about how he's gonna die?" He laughed as Dougie kicked him under the table.
"Well, our fiery Aries friend will be facing- oh." Eddie's eyes widened a little. "It's actually not doom and glooom this month. Keep your aim true to your goals, even when progress is slow."
"Oh." Dougie nodded, considering. "That actually is kind of nice. I can live with that."
Eddie chuckled and turned his gaze to Mike, cocking his head with a smirk. "And you? Let me guess, fire sign. You're probably an Aries too. Or a Leo?"
Mike shrugged. "I don't know, end of December."
"After the 22nd?"
"Yeah."
"Capricorn, then. ...seriously? You're an earth sign?"
Mike squirmed a little under his stare. "Thought you said you didn't believe in this crap."
Eddie shrugged. "There's a little bit of truth to everything. That's what mama thought." He looked at the magazine and snickered. "This month may test your patience."
Mike hunched in on himself, glaring at Lucas when he tried to pat his shoulder. "Most months get on my nerves. This is stupid."
"Aw, he's like a baby raven," Dougie teased before elbowing Eddie. "Alright, come on man, what's yours?"
"The most important horoscope! Let's see here, Cancer says... I am invincible and nothing can bring me down. Damn right!"
"Let me see that." Jeff snatched the magazine from Eddie. "...oh. What do you know."
"The stars are in alignment for a good month ahead." Eddie chuckled and took the magazine back. He tapped it on the table before tucking it into his bag. "The ritual has been completed!"
"The ritual has been completed!" Gareth grinned as Jeff rolled his eyes.
"This is why everyone thinks we're satanists, you know-"
"Let the people think what they want, they're just mad I don't read them their horoscopes."

So I know I've been reading a lot of fics where the third member of Corroded Coffin is named Freak. I feel like that's because people don't actually know his name. But I looked it up and his name is Doug Teague. So you have Eddie, Gareth, Jeff and Doug. You're more than welcome to keep his name as Freak or whatever you'd like it to be. Just thought I'd announce that his name is Doug for those who don't know

WIP Wednesday Holiday Edition! Make me write!
Headcanon
Nice!
Brian is not their first or even second bassist. The first one was a little red-headed girl named Emily Rose who moved right before high school, the other was Doug Teague who graduated when Eddie should have the first time, so he’s been their bassist for two years.
He started playing when he was 12 when his dad accidentally got him the wrong instrument and didn't know there was a difference between a bass and a guitar.

GENERAL BACKSTORY ;
1967-1982 — Born to Donna Harrington and an unknown father, Colby quickly became accustomed to his mother's antics. Though she was a Harrington, her brother (Steve's father) struck it rich more than she did, she was a con-woman. She would often dump Colby with her brother, and take off to Vegas. He's close to Steve because of the amount of time they spent together as kids, but he's a little less popular than his cousin. He joined the Hellfire Club in high school, and became a regular attendee of Corroded Coffin concerts! 1983 — Colby tried really hard to be there for Jonathan when Will went missing, and tried to join in the search party. He ended up very nearly saving Barb during the party, but by the time he heard her screaming, she was already gone. He helped Nancy and Jonathan with looking for the Demogorgon, partially since he wasn't really a fan of hanging out with Tommy and Carol. He confronted Steve during the whole "Nancy The Slut Wheeler" thing, and Steve was surprised to find him there during the final showdown with the demogorgon. 1984 — Getting a job at Palace Arcade, Colby was often looking over the party, and quickly introduced to Billy Hargrove and Max Mayfield. Billy and Colby began hooking up in secret every time Billy dropped Max off at the arcade. He let Lucas talk to Max in the back, and eventually skipped work to help Steve and the kids. When Billy showed up at the house, he was mad when Billy nearly beat up Lucas and then beat up Steve, and refused to speak to him for a while afterwards. 1985 — Still working at the arcade, and still refusing to speak to Billy, Colby spent a lot of the summer mostly alone in the arcade since Starcourt took a lot of their business. He was largely unaware of what was going on until the power kept going out across town. But, rather than join his cousin and friends this time, he went along with Joyce and Hopper to see what the hell was going on around town, ending up at Murray's, then part of the battle of Starcourt later on. 1986 — Colby was feeling guilt for shutting Billy out and never forgiving him before he died, and on top of everything else, his mom was home again, but they were still staying with Steve at the house. He actually very narrowly avoided being a Vecna victim. He was still working at the arcade, but was often popping in next door to see Steve and Robin at Family Video. After Chrissy, Colby tagged along with everybody to prove Eddie's innocence. He'd known Eddie for years, he believed in him the whole time. While the others were in the Upside Down, he took the liberty of staying with and protecting the kids, feeling a bit of a duty to Max after Billy had died. During the final showdown, he stayed in the real world on lookout duty with Erica.

` i've been meaning to mention someplace that i'm not planning on adhering to any spin-off canon like the books/comics, but with the corroded coffin bandmate getting some votes in my muse poll, it made me remember some of the characters introduced in eddie's prequel ( btw, i haven't read the book; i did look up some spoilers ). i would've used the previous band member ( doug teague? ) as slight insp by making corroded coffin --- in my personal headcanon --- kind of a tradition, a lost boys sort of gang of misfits united by metal. like it originated as a garage band that's sort of passed down to other metalheads every time a member graduates.

It has been brought to my attention that both the new comic and the newest novel has un named freak now named as Doug. Granted these written works are are quasi cannon, or it could just been another Stranger Things extended universe continuity error, but here are some ideas on how they could all work together in a cohesive way:
Dougie from Flight of Icarus is Doug is previously un named freak - he was held back 2 years like Eddie.
Dougie (Teague) from Flight of Icarus is a separate character from Doug / previously un named Freak. One goes by Dougie and the Other Doug, perhaps to decreased confusion between the two. This could also be why Jeff switches instruments between Flight of Icarus and S4.
I don't think Dougie from the book is the unnamed freak
If Dougie from the book was the unnamed freak then he would have had to have been held back twice with Eddie. In the book scene in which Eddie tells the band about the opportunity Jeff is on the fence because he's a sophomore and the others are all seniors.
To be the same person he'd have to get held back twice just like Eddie.

Also the inconsistency of Doug: Doug Teague in Flight of Icarus, which is set before the end of the '83-84 school year is already a senior as is Eddie (and i am actually pretty sure he graduates and goes to college); yet here in the beginning of the '85-86 school year its still him.
Details revealed about Eddie Munson
In the Stranger Things comic Rise of Hellfire
Has already had his handcuff belt in 1978
Also already has his battle vest with the Dio patch on the back
Has short but not shaved hair in 1978
Did not know anything about D&D prior to 1978 ( his freshman year)
Got roped into trying out the game with the original nerd's club by Ronnie
Thinks it is some "dorky ass after school acting club"
Being faced with the pencil and paper and numbers reality of the game he calls it a "math actors' club"
The bycicle he uses is old was tossed by someone
His first character is Relgar the Bloodied, a half-orc
He wanted to play a characther that "kicks ass"

You know what? I think it's time for another 'blogger yells at cloud' moment.
As always headcanon whatever you want. You do you, I just wanted to vent about these things that bother me.
Today on LadyKailitha's rants:
1- Eddie's hair. I was wondering when I wrote this on Steve's style if there was an Eddie equivalent and I've found it. Putting Eddie's hair up. Now as an artist and a writer, I understand the artists' need to not hide everything under that massive curtain that is Eddie's curls.
But as a writer? It does bother me a bit when people are constantly pulling Eddie's hair up.
Because here's the thing. In the show there are three times where putting his hair up out of the way (he has a handkerchief, he could use it do so) would be a good idea and he just... doesn't.
The first time is after he dives into the lake to save Steve. Having had long hair at that age, let me tell you, that hair was dripping down Eddie's back the whole time it was wet. Yes, even with the jacket on. He could have pulled it up at Nancy's to stop it from doing that. But nope. It stays down.
The second time is when he's making his shield with Dustin. He has the bandana on, but it's on his head and not pulling his hair back.
The final time is when Dustin and he are prepping the trailer against the bat attack. Again, it's only pulled out of his face with handkerchief on his head, but it's still not pulled back.
So all this to say that if Eddie didn't pull his hair up during those times, I really don't think he'd be pulling it any other time. He sees his favorite rockstars Dio, Ozzy Osborne, James Hetfield all rocking long hair and seeing that they don't put it up even after having performed for two hours under hot stage lights and running around on stage and he's going to think that's cool. And do that himself.
I know Joe Quinn looks great with short hair and that Eddie would look great with it short or pulled back, but I just don't think that Eddie would in character, you know?
2- Dougie Teague=The Unnamed Freak.
For those that don't know, Doug Teague is the name they gave the character in "Flight of Icarus" the Eddie Munson novel.
Now there are two slight problems with this.
Firstly, unless Dougie failed his senior year (which could happen I've written him that way once), the senior of 1985 Dougie wouldn't be eating lunch with them or be at Hellfire in 1986.
Secondly, they swap Jeff and Dougie's instruments. In the episode when Carver and his thugs show up at Gareth's, Jeff is seen playing guitar and the Unnamed freak is playing the bass. In the book they're reversed.
Look, I'm not a musician but even I know the difference between the two instruments.
What I think happened is the writer looked at the paper that Carver has when he's trying to find Eddie, saw the name Doug and went with that. Without, you know, actually watching the show.
So yeah, I don't think he's the Unnamed Freak.
Plus, you know, the book is barely canon anyway...lol! I've just been seeing people pick up the name recently and run with it and it weirded me out for some reason. Like I've handled Grant, Archie, Frank, and countless others with aplomb but for some reason Doug was a bridge too far.

As you might be aware, there is a gigantic list of categories for The Emmys, which has made the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences split up the ceremony into two separate weekends, the first of which is deemed the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. That covers the technical and smaller categories including short form, cinematography, and production design.
This year, Hannah Gadsby rightfully garners an Emmy for her writing on Nanette, Russian Doll and Marvelous Ms. Maisel nabbed many technical awards for their beautifully imagined universes, Fleabag was honored for its spot on casting, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend appropriately got honors for original music and choreography, The Simpsons still has staying power after all these years, and James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke has won the hearts and minds of America.
Also, Megan Amram is still without an Emmy for her An Emmy for Megan web series, which is a huge snub. Also, perhaps, it might be a way to force her to renew her own digital short form series, but she needs to, when all is said and done, win one for her genius satire that points an absurdist mirror at the entertainment biz.

Teague’s world was in such a state that there was always a lingering worry in the back of his mind about whether things would still be okay when he got back. In some ways, the zombie apocalypse on his world going relatively well was a worse toll on Teague now, for now there was no certainty whether he’d be better off helping other worlds or helping his own. And as much as he might’ve liked it to be otherwise, simply having a keyblade didn’t make him enough of a badass to take out swarms of zombies.
Today though, Teague decided to take his Humvee out for a ride to help make a certain part of town safer. The Browning M2 might be hard to find ammo for around here, but it had a couple of spare clips and they’d only be using the one for this ‘mission’. It was as Doug was driving the trio around that they spotted a dark portal, but this one looked different from the ones the Heartless came out of. Doug parked the car and Knight Herleva exited the Humvee to approach the portal, poleaxe in a low guard position. Thankfully there weren’t many living zombies around here right now, but Teague was keeping an eye out from the turret position.
