This is what I LIVE to do. My love for Power Tumbling and Trampoline never went away. I just needed to find my way back. I had an athlete ask me "You really love what you do Coach Jill?". "Yes, I would never want to go work a 9-5 doing anything else." I lived in the gym growing up and I'll do it til the day I die. Life became easier when I knew what I was best at. When you know that you will never fail so long as your passion survives. You really have it made. I wish so much my dad could have seen me coaching 😭 He did do a lot for me in my sport, my team, and the USTA. He was so proud to hear I was back with USTA and coaching. He laughed his laugh and that ment approval. I didn't need it but, I was glad to hear it. It takes a great support system to also keep you going. I learned this through life. I will forever make an effort to let every Athlete who I have the opportunity to coach know just how much I'm here to support them in their sport now and through out life. I would never be the Athlete or Woman I am this day forward without this sport and having the Best Coach in the entire planet. To my Coach: @paula.grigsby.5 I could never thank you enough for the Life Lessons. Which started at 5 years old, to the much needed; What do I do now talks and supporting me still at the age of 38. To be coached by one of the best and Hall of Fame @usta_trampoline coach. I'm forever indebted. You have subbed in as MOM many times over and literally took me around this country to be able to compete and reach the levels I did. I can't say how grateful I am for you. Thank you doesn't even cover it. She has taught me everything I know in this sport. Now to be able to give back and coach others is all I want to do. An to the association I walked back into last year full of hugs like I never missed a National's. USTA means family. To me... Little work after the kids leave. Knees are getting better. The ankles are horrible. I'm back in training mode. I realized I've let myself go by focusing so much on my kids. No, not just MY KIDS! All my Tumbling Athlete's. To maintain my strength as long as I can. To be able to show instead of just tell; is a gift I'd like to keep giving. Your body eventually takes it from you. Did You hear @simonebiles gave it a name... the Twisties! Give her more credit for being a pioneer in not just creating elite Skills but, in naming effects that happen to gymnast. I can't tell you exactly when but, around my late 20s. I tried and realized my fulls just weren't there like they used to be. My mind just didn't grasp some ideals. Like it all needs explained to me again. Yet, this time my brain won't comprehend. This is so hard to explain. Yet, I realize this is also where most people never do comprehend what tumblers do. This Mental ability is what makes a great gymnast or Trampolinist. Also, NOTE. This is where we realize we must let our pride down. Unlike a sport like Football, Soccer, Volleyball. You're done by 18 usually. Your body is hurting and probably almost or had been broke a time or two. How hard it is for a NFL player to retire and say I'm done. Is exactly how a young gymnast feels when she can't physically go no more. You're sad, angry, confused, depressed. At a younger age than a retired NFL athlete mind you. An it's still hard for them to walk off that field for good. But, Knowing your talent and passion. This is where I beat my depression. Was to get back out and coach! End of the day people may forget your name. Yourself never forgets the memories. An No One, can take away your Greatness.
