very specific and gonna be hard to find a job in probably (especially a reliably paying one) but:

several of these things could fit into like. development of therapy-like materials

like, games and craft projects that have some therapeutic value, that besides being fun also help people realise and learn stuff

these things do exist, but money for development is probably not too common unfortunately

are you looking for like. long term perspective/ideal ideas and plans mostly or also like. tips and suggestions for jobs that are easier to get?

i think @doubleca5t has some answers on her blog about how to get a Boring Office job (ideally paying well enough to do fun stuff you're actually passionate about on the side, while not being too soul- and bodycrushing hopefully) (i am personally not planning to make my creative passions my job because i find pressure hard to consistently combine with fun)

hello chat, I'm trying to figure out what I'm gonna do with my life

I really do love posting on tumblr (top ten favorite activities for real) but I need to get a job of some kind

I want to do something creative, and I want to help people. I really like making things too. some of my main ideas are to make content on some website where I can earn money (youtube or twitch or something, but please let me know any suggestions you have, it would genuinely help me so much)

my other idea though is to make merch, but not lame merch, I want to make some genuinely good things to wear. like, I want to design a pair of booty shorts that say "I think everything's going to be okay" on the back

I also am making a TTRPG system, and I've designed a few card games and board games, I have no idea how to publish something like that but that's something I would be interested in :)

there's something really interesting to me about how in watermill theater you know the balladeer probably isn't going to be doublecasted with lee harvey oswald, because of how she's casted. so you end up forgetting about it until another national anthem when she's covered and pushed offstage, and all of a sudden lee harvey oswald comes not from the american dream, but from the ensemble. an ensemble which for the entire show has either been onstage, acting as the orchestra, or both. the backbone of the show. the backbone of america. the working class. "ordinary" people. bystanders the assassins are distanced from. and all of a sudden he takes off his jacket and goes from bystander to assassin.

I know it's several months early, but is there any possibility of tossing the Dracula winner into the Van Helsing poll for a potential crosscast, since they never interact in the novel?

You mean like, letting Gloria Holden also be in the running for the role of Van Helsing? I would argue against this because they do share scenes in the novel—Jonathan's famous Kukri knife moment includes both of them, as does the final sequence in the snow. Doublecasting works really well in theatre, where the distance of the stage adds to a sense of abstraction that plays well with casting metaphors; I think you have to be a lot more careful casting in film, as its inherent love of the specific could make that choice confusing if not really well done.

How are the witches working for the Macbeth reading (I don't see them on the tracks)?

Oh! I get to answer an ask about one of my favorite SocShakes things!!

There is an old tradition here of grouping roles together by number when there are enough of them. Usually into Firsts, Seconds, and Thirds*. So any role in the play that is First [X] gets included in the "Firsts" track! For Macbeth specifically, we are including the Witches, the Murderers, and the Spirits. In other plays, you will find citizens, gentlemen, servingmen, messengers, etc.

This is usually a way for us to simplify the process of doublecasting tracks. In some plays, for example this summer's Romeo & Juliet, it makes things harder to spread out the line count evenly**, so we don't always follow it.

*Billy doesn't usually have more than 3 of anything and when he does, there's not usually more than one or two so we don't tend to have "Fourths" as roles.

**I (Jess) have been slowly trying to perfect our process of condensing 30+ roles into tracks for 10 readers. I am not always perfect, however, and if you're like "hey this is a weird choice to double" just let me know and I can look at it for next time!! We all know I forget a random lord now and then.
