Had a bit of a mental breakthrough regarding past fandom discussions, it all clicked in my head just now! Dorothy's Vision doesn't contradict Lone Trail in regards to Mumu's past!!

Hello, you, yes you, have you thought about the beat drop in Bbrain recently?
Arknights really has such phenomenal music, and though I don't think that this has been the absolute most impactful of all its songs to me (cough Babel), Bbrain does a truly excellent job at illustrating the alien, supernatural danger of Awaken and Neurotransmitter. Throughout Dorothy's Vision there's a pretty noticeable air of unease, and the sound design of the neurotransmitter drones is truly foundational to this, really establishing the association of them being creepy. Bbrain immediately takes advantage of this with the rumblings of something waking up, something starting. We're aware that something is going wrong, but not to what extent.
The unique instruments used throughout the song are great for signifying the scientifically induced impending apocalypse, and of how good intentions were so quickly warped for malevolent ends. Practically half of the noises could be argued to be alarms and sirens, screaming that a meltdown has begun, that the danger is imminent. The fucking around has happened, and the time of finding out has truly begun. The rollercoaster reaches its climax as the situation unfolds, as Awaken, well, awakens, and then the kick at 2:00 minutes sets in, and it starts teleporting. Holy shit. We can't stop it if we don't stop it here and now.
Now Arknights has its fair few apocalyptic events and catastrophic last stands, and the music that's paired with them, but... Bbrain holds a special place in my mind because it's simultaneously channeling overwhelming scientific triumph, this terrifying entity that can obliterate you once it fully comes into and understands its powers, is equally awe-inspiring and truly majestic. To me, the kick at 2:00 minutes in till it winds down roughly thirty seconds later is the cast watching with open mouths in horror, in awe, in reverence, understanding what they're seeing, before the fight properly engages.
Even as the song ends, it's not a triumph, it's a quiet fading out that this technology still exists and can absolutely be reused. That the capabilities and discoveries made here today can be explored further. This song isn't only good by itself, elevating a fight and narrative far above what I would have thought about it, but so too boosting the importance and significance of Kirsten's name, and instantly setting up Lone Trail to be awesome. I have no doubt in my mind that Dorothy's Vision laying the groundwork was an important and relevant part to LT being as amazing as it was.

imagine saria being so stoic and unapproachable all her life considering emotions an unnecessary interfering thing but since childhood she dreamed of a normal family and love and care until one day she finds ifrit and together with silence begin kid's treatment to eventually become attached to both of them and not realize that she feels them as the very family she always dreamed of
even when silence was mad at her saria never stopped worrying about her wife during the events of DV and LT and how everyone teases her about it I just can't

Dorothy’s Vision is coming out, so read (or re-read) the Rhine Lab manga, it’s pretty good
It’s pretty good (and pretty sad). I don’t think the official translation is out yet so you’re going to have to sail the seven seas to get one.

For those wondering, Sonny is almost certainly talking about Closure's old hacking buddy Dijkstra.
You know, the one who really likes to hear himself talk in 9-21.
The one who really seems to think he's the smartest person around, and that that makes him better than everyone else.
The guy who abused Closure's trust to shut down Rhodes Island's defense systems so Reunion could grab Talulah.
That guy.

I AM NORMAL. I AM NORMAL ABOUT THEM.
Aaaaaggggghhhhh.
Just, they didn’t interact once during this event, they walked completely different paths, but you can still see so much about each other influencing them.
How some of Saria can be seen in Silence, how Saria worried about Silence and still has the Diabolic Crisis on her mind.
There’s the fact that even though they never met up, they both worked to solve this crisis, if either hadn’t been here, it wouldn’t have been resolved.
And this final shot, them so far apart, but shown to be back to back symbolically.
Saria standing in the city, Silence in the fields. Which may be symbolic as to how attached to Rhine they are.
And they both think the same thing, sixty miles apart.

Dorothy's Vision is quite a interesting event, everyone seems to have misgivings about everyone else and it works so well because of where the characters are coming from.
Sonny thinks that Dorothy is being manipulative to get people into her experiments, when no, she legitimately feels what she's saying when she's going 'I just want to help' because it's been so long that he's been a pioneer, a job sold to sick people of a better life but is just for cheap labor and it's set up to force people into it and is that manipulative.
Dorothy thinks that what she's working on will only be used for the betterment of everyone, whereas Rhine is just going to use it to make life worse for everyone because they can make a buck off it because she is truly that naive .
Elena continues to help Ferdinand because she just wants to be a researcher and thinks he's doing the same, just as Ferdinand thinks she would brush off the horrible ethics violations because he thinks she just wants to get ahead.
And I was mistaken as I thought I would have some idea of what the hell Ho'olheyak's deal was by the end of the event, she's there to see the events, but she knows so much more about everything going on from the start that she clearly doesn't need to be working as ostensibly a mercenary, it feels like everyone there knows she's there to pull strings for her own gains, but no one or even the story itself knows what the hell her aims are. A very esoteric bird.

Man I love this scene especially the implication. So... Reggie? Reggie meets Saria's standards, hell, he is even commanding the other Defense units and they use shields as well!
Then there's Jesselton who got rejected by Saria when he applied to her division, experienced assassin can coat himself in iron and make constructs out of it but fcking Reggie passes. LOL Jesselton RIP Bozo Rest In Prison get dunked on Reggie no difs.

Astgenne family and their whole "Science? Not in this household young lady, now go back to read the star chart" interaction is so funny to think about. Like imagine Astgenne and her father on a plane, minding their own business when all of a sudden everything starts to shake while the plane goes through a turbulence. Tension starts building in the cabin when a panicked shriek pierces the silence, a young Caprinae lady starts crying "Waaaah, the horoscope was right, I shouldn't have left my house today. We're going to dieeee, waaaah". The other passengers try to calm her, to no avail, until a male Feline near her raises his head and starts desperately to look for help "An astrologer, please! Is there an astrologer among us? Please!" Astgenne doesn't even have to look at his father to see the swirl of emotions waving in his eyes, she is already accustomed to it after an entire life of casting shame over his name. She can however still hear the whispers of his disappointment whistling through his teeth: -It could have been you... "Not now father." -They aren't calling for a scientist, are they? I wonder why's that. Why don't you go and try to save that woman with your S C I E N C E?" "Father, the situation is serious. Besides I'm not even remotely familiar with the field of med-" Astgenne father raises up on his feet and starts yelling: -Excuse me, can someone bring some water and salt to my daughter? She claims she can make a potion called "S O D I U M C H L O R I D E" that can help that lady! And Astgenne just sinks in her seat, sobbing and whimpering "They'll never be able to understand..."
#Arknights#astgenne#dorothy's vision#like at this point she can't even look at the stars to make a wish because she can't unlearn how to read them and it's like ptsd

Something I think needs to be appreciated more about Dorothy's Vision: This line of dialogue.
When I first saw it in the trailer, I mistakenly believed it was going to be a line from the villain expressing their hubris in a "this dangerous technology can't possibly have any consequences for us" way.
But no, the line isn't from Kirsten or Clooney or any other antagonistic figure, but from our little Greyy. Not as an expression of "nothing bad ever happens to the Kennedys" hubris, but as genuine hope and optimism for mankind's future.
In this context, Greyy is strolling out to basically try flashbanging an artificial catastrophe just to buy a bit of time. What he means here isnt that nothing humans make can harm us - he can literally see the proof it can - but rather that no matter how terrible the things we create, we can survive it. Our capacity for destruction may be great, but to Greyy, our capacity for creation and ingenuity will outweigh it and allow us to thrive. You could argue it's still naive of him to believe that humanity couldn't engineer it's own downfall, but it was his faith in this belief that gave him the courage to face the experiment, distracting it just long enough for Dorothy to neutralize it.
Greyy has grown a lot.
