she is a young afghan who has won a scholarship to study medicine in the USA but cannot afford a visa

her father is considering selling his kidney to pay for it. this is not an uncommon occurence in afghanistan, with people selling organs to feed their children

women's rights and children's rights have taken a huge step back and the afghan economy is in tatters ever since america left and the taliban took over. now, the taliban itself was created by the united states as an anti soviet force. it has since spiralled out of control. as america always does, it has washed its hands of the matter and focussed on an internal pr blitz to tell its own citizens that it has discharged its responsibility to the people of afghanistan and that it must continue to fight for freedom... elsewhere... and deny afghan collaborators us visas.
