How Supportive is NDIS Meal Preparation for Elderly People?
Introduction
In these challenging times, where the COVID-19 pandemic has reshaped our lives, everyday tasks like grocery shopping and meal preparation have become increasingly difficult, especially for elderly individuals. Altruistic Care Services, an NDIS registered brand, recognizes the importance of providing support to the elderly through their NDIS meal preparation services. In this blog, we will explore the significance of NDIS meal providers at the doorstep and how they contribute to the well-being of elderly people under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Understanding NDIS Meal Preparation Services
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a government initiative aimed at providing support to people with disabilities, including the elderly, to enhance their quality of life. While the primary focus of NDIS is on disability support, it also extends its services to cover meal preparation and delivery for eligible participants.
One of the key features of NDIS meal preparation services is the provision of doorstep delivery. With the ongoing pandemic and the associated health risks, it has become essential to minimize outdoor activities, such as grocery shopping and dining out. Altruistic Care Services acknowledges this need and offers doorstep delivery services for NDIS participants, ensuring they have access to nutritious meals without compromising their safety.
Convenience of Priority Delivery
Altruistic Care Services, in collaboration with participating supermarkets, offers priority delivery for NDIS participants. This means that individuals registered under NDIS receive a unique code, which can be entered at the checkout of these supermarkets. This code ensures that their groceries and meal ingredients are treated as a priority, allowing for faster and more reliable delivery.
The beauty of this service is that the NDIS covers the delivery fee, relieving participants of an additional financial burden. It offers a cost-effective and safe solution for obtaining groceries and meal ingredients while adhering to social distancing guidelines.
Flexible Meal Options
When it comes to NDIS meal preparation, flexibility is key. Altruistic Care Services understands that the dietary needs of elderly individuals can vary widely, and they cater to a range of preferences and restrictions. Whether someone has specific dietary requirements due to health concerns or simply prefers certain cuisines, NDIS meal providers aim to accommodate these needs.
In addition to traditional grocery delivery services, NDIS participants can also avail themselves of well-known food delivery platforms like Uber Eats and Deliveroo. This further broadens the options available to them, making it easier to enjoy their favorite meals from local restaurants and eateries.
Benefits for Elderly Participants:
The advantages of NDIS meal preparation services for elderly participants are numerous. Here are some of the key benefits:
Safety: With doorstep delivery and priority services, elderly individuals can reduce their exposure to potential health risks associated with in-person grocery shopping and dining out.
Independence: NDIS meal preparation services empower elderly participants to maintain their independence and make their own food choices, promoting a sense of self-sufficiency.
Nutrition: Access to a wide variety of groceries and meal options ensures that elderly participants can maintain a balanced and nutritious diet, essential for their well-being.
Cost-Effective: The coverage of delivery fees by NDIS eases the financial burden on elderly participants, making these services more affordable.
Convenience: NDIS meal preparation services eliminate the need for planning, shopping, and cooking, saving valuable time and effort for elderly individuals.
Conclusion
Altruistic Care Services, as an NDIS registered brand, recognizes the challenges that elderly people face when it comes to meal preparation and grocery shopping, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Their NDIS meal preparation services, featuring doorstep delivery and priority services, provide invaluable support to elderly NDIS participants. These services not only enhance their safety and convenience but also promote their overall well-being and independence. For elderly people, NDIS meal provider at doorstep are a lifeline that ensures they can continue to enjoy healthy and delicious meals without leaving the comfort and safety of their homes.

5 Tips for Dressing Your Kids for a Special Occasion
In this fashionable era, kidsâ fashion has also come a long way, particularly in the arena of designer clothing. All the mommies want their kids to look stylish and fashionable, whether they are boys or girls. But dressing your kids for special occasions can be a little tricky. Your little one should remain comfortable and relaxed throughout the occasion while also being able to move around freely Also, you want your kids to be totally comfy and have fun at the same time.
Let us look at 5 tips for dressing your kids for a special occasion:
Consider the age of your child:Â Considering the age is really important when you are dressing your kids for special occasions. If you have a toddler thatâs bounding with energy, you must make sure that they donât trip on their clothes, so a shorter dress would be perfect. If you have a baby, you can go for longer dresses.
Prioritize comfort:Â The outfits you choose for your kids should be comfortable and made from soft materials so that they do not scratch their skin. They should be comfortable while having fun or roaming around. Also, the outfit should be easy to get in and out for nappy changes and other situations that might occur.
Style them according to the weather:Â Dressing your kids according to the weather is one of the most important styling tasks for moms. You should make sure that the clothes you are choosing for your kids complement the weather. T-shirts and lace frocks would work in the summer, and jackets and coats would work in the winter.
Accessorize:Â Accessorize is not only for adults. A gorgeous bow or a smart tie can take any outfit of your kids to the next level. With accessories, they look super cute and amazing. Also, you have to make the baby girls wear headbands or cute little clips, and on the other hand, you have to make the baby boys wear caps or hats.
Pick high-quality clothes:Â No matter what kind of outfit you are buying for your little one, make sure you only pick high-quality clothes that will last for years and that you may pass down to other kids. If you pick quality clothes, your kids will remain comfortable and relaxed as the material is soft.
If you want your kids to be dressed perfectly on every special occasion, then get them custom tailored dresses from SuiSilai. They have experienced in tailoring and will make kids dresses, like jumpsuits, different kinds of dresses, skirts, etc. Also, they are the best online tailoring service provider in Delhi and offer professional custom tailoring services for kids. The Witch and The Carpenter
For the @steddie-spooktober day 23 prompt: Witch Rated: T | Words: 2862 | CW: None | Tags: fantasy AU, witch!Eddie Munson, carpenter!Steve Harrington, Steve Harrington gets migraines, Eddie Munson needs a hug, Steve Harrington needs a hug, they're perfect for each other hugs all around Divider credit: @saradika
Eddie hears about the new carpenter within hours of his rolling into town â of course he does; any witch worth their salt knows exactly whatâs going on in their town at all times (itâs hard not to, when youâre the one providing the potions and charms that help everyone else keep their secrets).
His name is Steve, and heâs come with hopes of filling the hole left when Benny, the previous town carpenter, had died without an heir to his business. People say that he seems hardworking and capable, that heâs strong and handsome, that heâs friendly enough, but that thereâs something a little distant about him â a little lonely (though the older ladies who give Eddie gossip do tend to romanticize at times).
Eddie doesnât expect to meet him as soon as he does, but before even his first week in town is out, Steve turns up on Eddieâs doorstep, looking at once earnest and wary, and just as handsome as the gossip had said.
(Not that that last bit has any bearing on anything.)
âPeople in town say youâre the one to see for remedies,â Steve says when Eddie gets the door open.
âPeople in town say a lot of things,â Eddie replies. âBut in this case, theyâre right. Come on in.â
Inside, Eddie finds out that Steve is seeking a remedy for headaches. But not just any headaches; these seem to be full-body affairs that can keep Steve down for days at a time. He gets dizzy, nauseous, is bothered by any noise, and even candlelight can be too bright for his eyes.
Eddie mixes him up something strong, gives him strict instructions on how itâs to be taken, and then moves on to the matter of payment.
At that, Steve begins to look sheepish.
âIâve only just set up my business. I⌠donât have much money yet,â he admits. âI was hoping you might be willing to do a trade.â
Eddie cocks an eyebrow at him. âAnd what do you have to trade that you think might interest me?â
âYour door?â Steve offers.
ââŚwhat about my door?â Eddie asks after a long moment of confused silence.
âIt sticks. You were having trouble getting it closed earlier. I could fix that,â Steve says.
And itâs true â Eddieâs front door does stick. So does the back door. The shutters often refuse to open or shut properly, and the porch sags a little, and thereâs a leak in the roof when it rains hard enough. While Eddie is the best in the business when it comes to working magic, heâs not so handy with home repairs.
(It doesnât particularly help that witches exist in an odd sort of social limbo. Every town needs oneâthis is generally acknowledged as truthâbut no one particularly wants them around. Eddie lives a little ways away from town, up against the forest line, where itâs easy to ignore him and his shabby house unless someone needs something from him. No one has ever exactly been chomping at the bit to come help him fix the place up.)
Eddie shouldnât say yes. He often trades goods and services, but he doesnât know this man. He doesnât know if heâs reliable, doesnât even know if his work is any good â but something in him wants to agree, anyway.
Maybe itâs the earnestness of his offer, or the hope in his expression that heâs clearly trying to quash, or maybe Eddieâs just a sucker for a pretty face, but eventually he finds he canât say anything but, âOkay, sure.â
âThank you,â Steve sighs as he accepts the potion. âHow would tomorrow work for you?â
Still not entirely sure he expects Steve to show up, Eddie says that tomorrow is fine. If he doesnât show, if he thinks he can fleece a witch and continue living peacefully in town, heâll quickly find out otherwise. And if he does come back â well, it would be nice to have a door that doesnât stick anymore.
âWhatâs your favorite color?â Steve asks before he leaves.
âRed,â Eddie answers, one brow raised in a question that Steve doesnât answer.
âRed.â Steve nods. âIâll see you tomorrow.â
The next day, Steve is back bright and early with a bag of tools and a pot of paint. He tells Eddie not to mind him, heâll just get to work and try to stay out of Eddieâs way, but Eddie canât help but watch as Steve inspects the door hinges, the frame, and then not only trims the door down, but sands and paints it, too.
Red: Eddieâs favorite color.
Anyway, it isnât Eddieâs fault for getting distracted. Thereâs an unfairly attractive man doing manual labor in front of his house, whatâs he supposed to do?
Eventually, though, Eddie does force himself to look away. He shouldnât get attached to things he knows he canât have. Heâs the witch; heâs in the background of everyone elseâs story, he doesnât get to have one of his own â especially not with someone like Steve.
And thatâs fine, Eddie had accepted that long ago. He likes being able to help people, and itâs sort of the only thing heâs any good at. He wonât deny that it stings sometimes, the way people talk about witchesâabout himâbut what should he care about what other people think?
In any case, it doesnât matter, because once Steve finishes with the door, itâs unlikely the two of them will cross paths again any time soon.
Steve finishes the door (it now opens and closes smooth as butter) and goes home.
And comes back the next week.
âFinished what I gave you already?â Eddie asks.
Steve shrugs. âStress always makes the headaches worse, and with travelling and setting up shopâŚâ
Eddie nods, pursing his lips in thought. âI could make you a bigger batch, but it would cost you more.â
âI can fix those shutters.â Steve nods towards the windows. âAnd you mentioned something about the back door?â
âYouâre going to neglect your real customers, spending all your time fixing up my house,â Eddie teases.
âI can make the time,â Steve says, smiling at Eddie. âI think itâs worth it.â
Eddie has to turn away again, reminding himself that Steve is talking about the medicine, not him.
He fixes up a bigger batch of that same strong potion heâd made the previous week (âIâve never had anything work so well,â Steve had practically gushed. âIt was more than worth my work.â) and Steve comes back the next afternoon to start work on the back door.
They talk more this time, when Steve takes breaks, when Eddie is between tasks and brings him cool water to drink, and Eddie finds that Steve is funny and sweet, and catty and sharp, and a bigger gossip than even Eddie himself. And he reminds himself, again and again, that Steve is not for him. This isnât how the story goes.
Witches donât get nice things.
(And thatâs fine. Eddie is fine with it. Heâs fine.)
They do, however, get increasingly nice houses, apparently. Or at least Eddie does. Steve paints the back door red, too, and then gets to work fixing the shutters. Those, to Eddieâs bemusement, he paints a buttery, golden yellow.
âThey donât exactly scream âwitchâs cottageâ,â Eddie points out.
Steve only shrugs. âItâs my favorite color,â he says, flashing a grin at Eddie. âBesides, I think they go with the doors.â
Eddie doesnât argue.
It goes on like this. Eddie brews medicine for Steveâs headaches, and Steve finds things around the house to work on. He fixes the leak in the roof, the creaky porch steps, the drawer in the kitchen that will never stay closed; his business picks up in town, but he always makes time for Eddie.
As much as he can, at least.
âIâve got a few big orders built up,â he says apologetically one afternoon as he collects his medicine from Eddie. âIâm not sure when Iâll have time to get to the cabinets like I said I would, but I can pay youââ
âNah.â Eddie waves Steveâs offer away before he can pull out any coins. âIâll just put it on your tab.â
Eddie doesnât do tabs.
Steve looks skeptical. âIf youâre sureâŚâ
âOf course I am. And if, for some reason, you welch on our deal,â Eddie gives Steve a sharp grin, âI do know where you live.â
âYou should come visit, then,â Steve says.
Eddie falters. âWhat?â
âIf you want to, I mean.â Steve shrugs, avoiding Eddieâs gaze. âJustâ if I canât make it out here, maybe you could come see me, instead.â
And again, heâs so earnest, trying so hard not to look too hopeful, that Eddie canât say anything but, âAlright, I will.â
The way Steve lights up at that is worth just about anything he could have Eddie do.
Eddie tries to remind himself of this as he ventures into town the next week.
He doesnât go into the town proper very often; he grows a lot of what he needs and trades for a lot of the rest of it with customers; heâs a rare enough sight that some people stare, and whisper, and Eddie does his best to hold his head up high and walk without a care.
And if he pulls faces at some of the more egregious offenders, causing them to gasp and scurry away, scandalized, well â Eddie is allowed his simple pleasures.
Anyway, Steve is all smiles when he finds Eddie at his door, and thatâs the most important thing. He ushers him through the shop (a large, warm space that smells of wood shavings and sweet smoke, just as Eddieâs come to associate with Steve) and into the living space above. He serves Eddie tea and cake with a studied nonchalance that says he doesnât want Eddie to realize how excited he is.
How excited he is to see Eddie.
Eddie searches for anything else to focus on before he does something ridiculous, like act on the rising warm feeling in his chest. He finds it, oddly, in Steveâs eyes.
âHave you been sleeping?â Eddie asks him; the shadows beneath his eyes look almost like bruises.
Steve shrugs. âIâve been busy.â
His hands are shaking, Eddie realizes, as he pours the tea for the both of them. Steve must notice Eddie noticing, because he folds his hands back into his lap with a little huff.
âHappens sometimes,â he says brusquely. âMore annoying than anything. Carpenters are supposed to have steady hands.â
(Eddie wonders sometimes what must have happened to Steve, but heâs seen some of the scars that adorn his body, has seen the faraway look that gets into his eyes from time to time, and he thinks he knows. Steve has the bearing of a soldier, and the eyes of a man too kind to have ever been made to fight for a king who doesnât give a damn about him.)
Taking the hint, Eddie changes the subject, but the thought of Steveâs shaking hands follows him home. All those tools, all those sharp things he works with â maybe Steve isnât his, not his to worry over or to care of, but Eddie decides heâs damn well going to do it anyway.
The next time Steve comes by, Eddie slips him an extra packet along with his usual potion.
âYou brew it like tea,â Eddie says to Steveâs confused glance. âShould help steady your hands, when you need it.â
Steve stares down at the packet for several silent seconds. âYou didnât have toââ
âBut I wanted to.â
Shaking his head, Steve looks back up at Eddie. âHow can Iââ
Eddie waves him off before the question is fully formed. âLetâs say itâs on the house, for my best customer.â
âIâm not sure thatâs a compliment,â Steve says, not without amusement.
âThen how about my favorite customer?â Eddie offers.
Steve is smiling now. âAre you allowed to have favorites?â
âIâm the witch,â Eddie reminds him with a smirk. âI can do whatever I want.â
And so it goes.
And so it might have continued going, if it hadnât been for the night Steve turns up at Eddieâs door well after dark, looking grey and haggard and haunted.
Eddie ushers him in, sits him down, makes him some tea, and tries to get some words out of him.
âDo you make anything to help people sleep?â is what Steve finally asks.
âI can,â Eddie says slowly, watching Steve carefully.
Steve drops his face into his hands, rubbing harshly at his eyes. âI justâ I just want to sleep. I donât want to dream, just for one night,â he says, so low that Eddie has to strain to catch all the words. âJust once.â
Eddie weighs his options. He knows how to make an elixir for a deep, dreamless sleep; he wonât deny that heâs used it himself, when certain memories had become too much, but thatâs exactly how he knows that it hits hard and fast. It can be disorienting â maybe even a little dangerous, if you donât know what youâre doing.
âI can make something for you,â Eddie says, âbut only if you stay here tonight. I donât want you walking back home in the dark, it isnât safe.â
âI donât⌠I donât want to impose,â Steve says, as if he could ever be an imposition to Eddie.
âIâd feel better knowing youâre here,â Eddie says, and that seems to break Steveâs resolve.
By the time Eddie finishes the elixir, Steve is barely awake in his seat. He doesnât even argue when Eddie leads him to his own bed, lays him down, and tells him to drink.
Heâs out like a light in minutes.
Eddie closes the bedroom door and sets himself up in a chair by the fire, but he doesnât sleep for a long time.
He wakes in the morning to the sound of someone moving around in the kitchen. He follows the smell and coffee and sizzling bacon to find Steve there, flitting around the room, cooking.
âHey.â Steve smiles, broad and true, when he sees Eddie in the doorway. âI was going to come wake you soon, breakfast is almost ready.â
Eddie blinks at him, wondering if maybe heâs the one who took the sleeping elixir, because he canât quite fathom what heâs seeing: Steve, happy and sleep-rumpled, using his kitchen to cook breakfast like itâs familiar to him, like itâs something he does every day, smiling at Eddie like heâs the final piece missing from the morning.
âI donât know how Iâm going to repay you for what you did last night,â Steve says, determinedly poking at the bacon in the pan. âI canâtâ I canât tell you how much I needed that. How much it helped. But I figured I could at least start by making you breakfast.â
Eddie watches him cook, and feels like his heart is about to crack, because for some reason heâs getting this taste of what life could be like, but he doesnât get to keep it.
This isnât for him.
(And Eddie wants to be fine, but he isnât. He isnât.)
Something must show on his face, because when Steve looks up at him, his own expression falls into a concerned frown. He forgets all about the bacon and moves over to Eddie, arms outstretched to place his hands on Eddieâs shoulders.
âWhatâs wrong?â he asks, so invested, so concerned, that Eddie feels like he might lose his mind.
âThis isnât right,â Eddie manages, and Steve only looks more upset.
âShould Iâ should I not have done this? Did you want me to go, orââ
âI never want you to go!â Eddie blurts. âI always want you here, but thisâthis morning, breakfast, youâI donât get to have this. Itâs â itâs not right.â
Steveâs expression softens, eyes warming with understanding. âYou can have it, if you want,â he says softly. âYou can have me. You always could have. Since the beginning.â
Eddie shakes his head. âThis isnât⌠this isnât how the story goes.â
âThen letâs write a new one,â Steve says.
There isnât anything Eddie can think to say to that, but thatâs alright, because that means his mouth is unoccupied when Steve leans in to kiss him.
Steve never has to trade anything for his medicine ever again, after that, nor does he have to come over to fetch it â heâs already there. Eddieâs house becomes the nicest in town, what with his live-in carpenter, and all. SFX Magazine Issue 368, August 2023
THEYâRE BACK â AND THIS TIME THEYâRE IN ALL-NEW TERRITORY. NEIL GAIMAN TALKS RETURNING FOR SEASON TWO OF GOOD OMENS
THE RASCALLY DEMON Crowley (David Tennant) and the neurotic angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) put aside their differences to pull off one doozy of a Hail Mary and prevent an impending Apocalypse in Good Omensâ first season. The task cemented the pairâs unconventional friendship. So what are divine beings, who have fallen out of grace with both Heaven and Hell, to do for an encore?
The answer lies with archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm), who shows up unannounced on the doorstep of Aziraphaleâs London bookshop. Suddenly, Aziraphale and Crowley are caught up in a caper of biblical proportions â but also a more intimate tale.
âItâs a mystery,â showrunner Neil Gaiman tells SFX. âIt kicks off a story that doesnât have giant consequences for the universe, even if it does have consequences for Aziraphale and Crowley. We have a lot of the marvellous Jon Hamm, who is the angel Gabriel and turns up at the beginning stark naked, carrying a cardboard box with no memory of who he is. In the same way, it is about Aziraphale and Crowley having to get involved with humanity in a way that they havenât before.
âThey get dragged in slightly against their will to try to sort out the love life of Aziraphaleâs tenant,â he continues. âHer name is Maggie [Maggie Service] and she runs the record shop next to the bookshop. Youâll see the coffee shop over the road, which is Ninaâs [Nina Sosanya]. The relationship between Maggie and Nina is one that Crowley and Aziraphale try to fix, and mess up, because they are not good at human relationships, even if they can do miracles.â
Truth be told, Gaiman never originally intended this arc to serve as Good Omensâ second instalment. The TV series was based on Gaiman and Terry Pratchettâs 1990 novel. The two collaborators had partially hashed out the details for a sequel to the fantasy comedy, late one night in a hotel room. This, however, is not it. Gaiman instead plotted a new narrative that could provide the connective tissue between the first season and a theoretical season three, if it happens.
âBecause the hypothetical season three exists, there is a story that is there, and I didnât feel that we could drive straight from season one into that,â Gaiman explains. âI knew what the stakes were. I knew what the parameters were. I also knew that I had David and Michael. I had the angels from plot number one.
I had demons from plot number one. And with anybody that I wanted to bring back, but didnât have room for right now, I did not have to bring them back as themselves. âI had absolutely nothing for Madame Tracy to do in this plot, but I would be damned if Miranda Richardson wasnât going to be in this. She is one of my favourite people in the world. She is hilarious and is so good. And I knew I was going to have a new demon replacing Crowley as Hellâs representative in London/ the UK. Mirandaâs demon Shax is the best demon you could want.â
Itâs late February 2022 and SFX is in Edinburgh for a set visit. A soundstage in Pyramids Studios has been transformed into a street in Soho. The visible local stores include the aforementioned book, coffee and record shops, as well as a magic establishment. In the middle of them all stand Aziraphale and Crowley, the latter in close proximity to his classic Bentley. Itâs close to the end of the six-episode season, so exactly what the duo is discussing constitutes a spoiler. We can say, however, that Aziraphale has picked up the pace. Time is of the essence as Shax marshals her forces to descend on Aziraphaleâs store and retrieve Gabriel.
âThis is really Shaxâs first time out on Earth,â Gaiman explains. âShe is working very diligently and very hard in Hell for a long time. Now she is on Earth, trying to figure it all out. Sheâs just discovering what Crowley has known for 6,000 years, which is that if youâre a demon and come up with a brilliant plan to screw up the lives of humanity, people will get there first and do worse than anything you could have imagined! Sheâs coming to terms with that.
âShe is having to deal with the first crisis on her watch, as well, which is the disappearance of the archangel Gabriel from Heaven. It would be fair to say that by the end of the story, she is leading as much as she can get from Hellâs requisition department â a legion of Hell â in an attack on a Soho bookshop.â
When audiences catch up with Aziraphale again, heâs enjoying his time among humans. He owns most of the block in a Soho neighbourhood, and heâs meddling in Ninaâs love life. Meanwhile, Crowley has been living in his car, with his plants sitting on the back seat. Heâs grumpy about his current status quo, but frequently hangs out at Aziraphaleâs. The duo began as antagonists, but their history and blossoming relationship will be fleshed out in flashbacks.
âOne of the enormously fun things I came up with is the idea of minisodes,â Gaiman explains. âThey are 25-minute-long episodes within the episode. We have three of them over our six episodes. Each of them is like one of those chunks of episode three [in season one]. Whereas the longest one of those was four or five minutes, if that, these are full stories.
âYou get to have the story of [put-upon Biblical figure] Job, and you learn Aziraphale and Crowleyâs part in the story. Then writer Cat Clarke takes us to Edinburgh in the 1820s for a tale of body-snatching and attempted murder that the boys get involved in,â he adds.
âFinally, Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman reunite the League Of Gentlemen in a Nazi-period story that takes place very shortly after the episode in the church. That one was the only one I said had to be there, because I fell in love with our Nazi spies in the church. I kept thinking, âWhat would happen if they essentially came back as zombies, with a mission from Hell to try and investigate whether or not Crowley and Aziraphale were actually fraternising?ââ
Gaiman admits that one of the greatest challenges has been filming Good Omens simultaneously with his upcoming show Anansi Boys. The two shoot within throwing distance of each other, but are both timeconsuming endeavours.
âIf I could go back in time, I would go back to 16 September 2020, when Douglas Mackinnon [co-producer] and I got the phone call from the Amazon bigwigs to say, âWe have good news for you and interesting news for you,ââ Gaiman recalls. ââThe good news is we are greenlighting both Good Omens and Anansi Boys. The interesting news is you are going to have to do them both at the same time.â
âI would go back to then and I would throw myself on the call and say, âNeil, donât! This is unwise.â That we are doing them both together is great. The amount of sleep I am not getting is monumental and monstrous.
âItâs a little bit like childbirth, in that I managed to forget all the things that drove me nuts about the first one. Having said that, I managed to fix all the things that really drove me nuts making season one, which is great. We just have a whole new set of problems making season twoâŚâ
The Odd Couple - David Tennant and Michael Sheen talk character and sets for season two
Crowley and Aziraphale come off as the best of frenemies at times. Where do they stand with one other now?
DT: They are indeed. Whatâs different in season two is because of what happened at the end of season one, they no longer have head offices that they have to report to. They are in a very different position. Whereas before they were trying to get away with things, now they are kind of free agents.
MS: Although sort of fugitives as well. They are sort of in-between. But this amazing life they have created over a millennia, they are now able to enjoy in a slightly different way. They are not having to put on a front for their respective teams. There is a different kind of freedom.
DT: While at the same time being cut off, so they are also strangers in a strange land.
MS: That kind of connects them in a slightly different way. They have always been the only two beings who could understand each otherâs position. Now they are pushed even closer together.
Now that they have the run of the place with no obligations, does that bring its own set of problems, being cut off?
DT: They have this sort of uneasy relationship. They are not entirely cut off from their head offices. Indeed, their head offices are quite keen to exploit that sort of adjacent connection, as we will see as the story unfolds. They exist in this grey area, neither the supernatural nor of the Earth.
MS: By the time we pick up their story in this series, they have appeared in time where they were kind of let alone a bit more. When we pick the story up, they are being bothered again.
The depth and the richness and the detail of what we are seeing on set here in Edinburgh is mind-blowing. How is it for you having it all in one place now, rather than having filming scattered around the UK?
MS: Itâs completely changed the experience of doing it. Just being indoors⌠The Soho set on the first season was freezing cold.
DT: I was in a car park. Even inside the bookshop I was exposed to the elements! Thereâs a greater percentage of the show set here. There was a practical imperative to making it a manageable environment. If we had been in a car park, the elements might have impinged our ability to film.
Hellraiser - David Tennant is Crowley
You and Michael know these characters inside out. Do you have a shorthand?
Itâs a hard thing to be objective about. Although I didnât know Michael that well before we shot season one, it was always easy and exciting working together. Itâs well-oiled now, for sure. Itâs certainly fun to come to work. We enjoy bouncing off each other.
How comfortable are they about becoming involved with Gabriel?
I suppose Aziraphale is a much more enthusiastic detective. We are very much voting for the spin-off called The Azirafiles, which will follow this! As with most things, Crowley is reluctant to get involved or to exhibit any kind of energy or enthusiasm about very much. He is dragged kicking and screaming into this. Necessity forces him to get involved, whereas Aziraphale rather likes it.
Where does Crowley hang out these days?
He spends a lot of time in the book shop. He only has one friend. He can only have one friend. That is the great liberation, and also the great prison, that they find themselves in. They have no one else. They have come to rely on each other more than they ever did. And more than they care to admit.
Crowley is a rock star, in a way. Were there any particular musicians that inspired you?
Not consciously, no. The look was assembled accidentally during the first costume sessions. The Crowley of the book is of the mode when the book was written. He is more kind of Wall Street, the way he is described. We just decided that Crowley should always be of the moment heâs in. We were just trying to find a look that we felt fitted.
Divine Being - Michael Sheen is Aziraphale
How has knowing your characters better informed this series?
The first series was the first time we really properly worked together. It feels like we havenât stopped working together since. Everything that has happened in-between plays into coming back to these characters. I am sure it is all feeding into it. Itâs very difficult for us to know how that is informing the characters and their relationships.
With the flashbacks to various points in Earthâs history, is there a period of time Aziraphale enjoys the most?
One of the most enjoyable things for the audience and us is moving through different historical periods. Itâs a great source of joy, and people thoroughly enjoyed that episode in the first series, so that has been expanded on in season two. But in terms of which Aziraphale enjoys the most, I think itâs not actually a period of time that weâve seen him in on this series.
He would have been happiest at the end of the 19th century, in the Victorian era, which is considered the golden age of magic. He would have loved being with the greats like Harry Houdini. He loved the Victorian period. It was a great period of time for philanthropy and doing good works in a municipal way.
How has it been going from something dark like The Prodigal Son to a more whimsical show?
Thatâs the nature of an actorâs job. You go from one thing to another. In some ways, itâs even more useful to have big differences between the characters. What tends to happen, and I think most actors feel this way, is if you are playing one character for a long time, part of you yearns to play the bits the character doesnât have. Thereâs a naivety and an innocence about Aziraphale. But at the same time, underneath that, there is eons of knowledge and experience.
