So lot of ya’ll sent in some asks about if I was going to shadow my goobers based off my last update, so many in fact I had to start deleting them and just chose one out of the many X3 So to answer the question, no, I will not be shadowifying Meau or Missingno in the story, at all, let alone in the coming update! The reason for this is… they’d be unstoppable, nothing could kill them besides maybe Arceus, it’s a bad gig all around, bad writing, and the world would end very fast! But it’s still very fun to think about and do “what ifs” ;3D

So! I have in fact made shadow content before regarding Meau! There’s an old horror comic somewhere in the Chrono link in my pinned post for those interested ^^ however figured I could make a goofy lil update doodle to pratice and treat eveyrthing to the what if scenarios! TW below for body horror, open wounds, gore, starvation, and general horror based stuff!

watching dragon ball alone in my bedroom on an old, small, and dusty tv at 5 in the afternoon is without exaggeration the first memories i have of my life. so clear, yet so distant.

i remember doodling dragon ball characters almost every day in primary school. and even when i didn't draw them specifically, you could tell that "art" for me looked like toriyama's style. those drawings were my first exposure to the that world, and that was my starting point for anything i've ever drawn.

funny story: the hardest i've ever cried as a kid (and kind of in general), was watching the final minutes of the final episode of dragon ball GT, where the intro song "dan dan kokoro hikareteku" plays over a montage of all of dragon ball from beginning to end. i had been following goku since he was a kid in OG dragon ball almost daily since i could remember. kid me couldn't take the idea of him being gone forever. he was my best friend.

i watched that episode on the day of my BIRTHDAY, like 2 hours before i had to go to my party at an arcade restaurant we invited my friends to. i was A MESS. just sitting in our car sobbing uncontrollably while my mom didn't know what the fuck was wrong with me as i couldn't speak. must have been like 8-9 years old, maybe?

last year i thought to myself "why don't i have that song on my playlist?" and decided to look up this ending again out of curiosity. i was once again reduced an absolute wreck as a 27 year old adult in 2 minutes. i couldn't believe how primal these emotions of mine were, as i hadn't watched or cared much about this show in forever, but i suppose it is impossible to completely remove something that was once so core to your life, regardless of how much time has passed lmao. so here i am, tearing up once again.

i know i'm just rambling here, but seeing so many people on social media talk about their experiences with anything that toriyama-san had created really made me start reminiscing on my own experiences with dragon ball and how much it meant to me.

the reach he had on the entire planet cannot be overstated. through comic books, anime, videogames... be it dragon ball, dragon quest, chrono trigger, dr. slump, sand land, etc. and that is without even considering the unquantifiable amount of art that was inspired directly by his work, and the people that were then inspired in turn.

he's touched so many lives of all ages across time. and will continue to do so, as is the nature of art itself.

watching my favorite show. collecting cards with my favorite characters on them. frequenting my favorite AMVs of my favorite moments. playing my favorite videogames with my friends after school... the list goes on.

thank you for all the memories.

Your art is so beautiful! It’s like you somehow dug into my mind and retrieved my dream art style, coloring style, and anatomy style and mastered it all. The way you draw Kai, spinner, and chrono is perfectly soft yet has the perfect amount of saturation! Please, keep posting your god-like art, the world needs to see this!

Ah thank you!! I can do my best to show you my process with a doodle I just did for another ask and explain what helped me get there as a I go along

I like to have reference pictures up from the first sketch, even if I don’t need details yet they help me envision the posture and stuff. I’m not the best at anatomy myself but I would absolutely recommend trying to learn, it’s really satisfying when you start to figure it out and helps make everything more natural

In the next part I add firmer details like hair, facial details, etc. fabric folds is another good thing to learn and don’t be afraid to shift base components in this step, for example I changed the face shape and size of the hands and feet. Flipping the canvas is a huge help in this stage

At this point I don’t really need references besides the character I’m drawing, and I like to fill in the lineart with a solid color. This helps keep the palette more cohesive

Then I block in the flat colors, using the base color as a sort of guideline for the palette but honestly I just go with my eye for what looks good and what doesn’t as opposed to logic, use complimentary colors I guess?

I add blush to the skin and airbrush a couple other areas to start suggesting shadows and light. Picking two colors on opposite sides of the color wheel can help this step stick out more

Then I add shadows and blotches of light, using the airbrushed color as a guide of sorts as I add more saturated versions of that as the shadows/light. I also start changing the lineart color and going over things to clean them up

Then if I don’t like how the colors look I multiply the layer select “gradient map” (or anime background if you’re working with ibis paint and don’t want to pay for anything extra like me) lower the opacity, and merge the layers. I add background shadows if needed, then add a little of the grain filter and chromatic aberration to tie things together! Also I flipped the canvas here because I had chronostasis facing the wrong direction.

Watching the Bowlinguins Play

So cold.

It was so cold.

Zavier was sitting against an evergreen tree, shivering and wrapping his arms around himself in an attempt to retain whatever warmth he could.

This regal coat of his, though intimidating, did very little to protect Zavier from the snow of Icywood Forest. He would've released his Tufflaze from its Capsule to keep himself warm, but he couldn't afford to draw any attention.

He had to remain hidden until the time was right. If something went wrong, there was no going back.

It was strange. Zavier wasn't used to being so patient. Even in his youth, even before he became... this, he was used to his butler responding to his every beck and call. And even after the future took a turn for the worse, there was always Chronos there to speed things along.

But now there was neither, and Zavier had to sit and wait for the perfect opportunity to strike.

It may be in an hour. It may be in twelve hours. It may be in a day. Or a week. Maybe even a month or two. But it would present itself.

Otherwise, what was the point of doing all this?

Zavier's attention was drawn by the playful chirping of ten Bowlinguins lining up in a triangle formation. A Snobobo rolled forward into the Bowlinguin at the front, causing it to topple backwards into the two Bowlinguins behind it, who toppled backwards into the three Bowlinguins behind them, who toppled over into the four Bowlinguins at the back.

The spheres of ice the Bowlinguins were carrying scattered everywhere. The Bowlinguins immediately righted themselves, warbling in glee and chasing after each ball.

After each Bowlinguin had grabbed its ice, they lined up again, the Snobobo darting away to get to the appropriate distance for a running start.

Again it rolled into the Bowlinguin pack, and again all the Bowlinguin fell over, dropping their ice.

Zavier strangely found himself envious of the Doodles, playing in such a carefree way, unaware of all troubles that might come their way.

Envious of a flock of birds and their ball? That's a new low, Quincy.

Zavier's fingernails dug into his arms through the sleeves of his coat. He had been trying so hard to train himself not to use that name anymore.

Quincy was Quincy. Zavier was Zavier. They stopped being the same person a long time ago.

But still, it was so difficult to sever that connection. Every time Zavier thought he had finally thoroughly killed the Quincy inside of him, he saw something that reminded him of his childhood, and his chest fluttered in a way that he just couldn't ignore.

It was happening right now, actually. Gentle snowflakes were floating down from the sky, getting stuck in his hair and melting from his body heat.

And suddenly Zavier was back in his memories again, holding his father's hand as they walked through a town filled with cavemen.

Shadows of people were glaring down at him wherever he looked, and when he told his father that everyone was looking at him funny, he was given the bare-bones response of "it's just your imagination."

Even so, Quincy gripped his father's hand tighter, afraid of all the angry eyes burning holes into his body with their gaze.

Zavier would've preferred that burning feeling over this numbing cold. At least if it burned, it was a distraction from this deep loneliness, with nothing to do but watch the Bowlinguins play.

A collection of art, comics, and info pertaining to my Kirby series AU about the Mirror World, the Wave 2 gang, and the Darkroach ship. She's a hard worker and confident in their abilities. When working on a project she tends to get a bit too engrossed into it and may overwork herself. When in a more casual setting they are calm with a sarcastic prickly attitude but still energetic. Despite having an innocence to the “outside” world Rockwell is still cautious and on guard when meeting others even if she presents herself with in a more welcoming demeanor. She struggles with social anxiety and maintaining relationships with others. Maturing at a young age because of the loss of her parents, the community mostly raised them since her parents went missing. Rw had her best-friend Caveat and would often be at his house a lot along with his two older sisters. She was over there so often that Rockwell considers his sisters as her older sisters too. She used to be a reclusive kid, quiet and would keep to themselves never really opening up and revealing her feelings and thoughts to others because they felt it wasn't needed. Rockwell still does that now but tries to open up to friends. She doesn’t really take shit from people, their one who makes sure they never get the short end of the stick but stays fair.

While Rockwell’s strong-suit isn’t healing magic and can’t really ‘heal’ herself, they’ve developed a work around. At the age of 12, Rockwell had cave exploration accident that resulted with the left side of her skull *caved* in leaving her magic leaking out. Having her injury for about 3 months she developed this type of ‘bandaid’ with the metal she works with. Rockwell melts the metal, infuses it the basic healing magic she knows and a bit of reinforcement magic as well. Successfully creating a metal bandaid, now when she has injuries she just does that. Rockwell is actually the first person to ever do this on Chronos [thats the planet that my oc story called ‘In Our Favor’ takes place if anyone is interested I’ll post abt the world building Ive done].

Met Esther while they were in her coastal hometown. Rockwell showed Esther her sandboarding tricks, “I know someone who'd you would get along great with, she does skateboarding as well and works with metals. You two are similar in height too, lol.” Esther comments

Rockwell studies geology as a hobby though it helps when looking for materials for her projects. Caveat occasionally helps with looking for materials when Rockwell goes mining in the nearby caves in the cliffs. Rw does have a journal that has all the geology or rock related puns/jokes she could think of, but she’d rather die than have anyone except Cav know. Cav loves them.

The town that Rockwell lives in is an oasis coastal desert town! Its hidden within cliffs of a ravine. The architecture is inspired off of Camogli, Italy, though the culture and language inspired off of the Philippines(?) and Italy [Im still working on that part]

In 2024, daylight savings time will begin at two o'clock ante meridiem on Sunday, March tenth. That will mean losing an hour of precious sleep and moving the clocks (around your house, and sundry frequented places) forward one hour, though your cell phone, computer, and television plus other electronic devices will likely automatically adjust. The sun will appear to rise and set an hour later.

My tribute to Akira Toriyama

1955-2024

Toriyama was a huge creative inspiration in my life, as I’m sure he was to many others. Few artists - and few have earned the right to call themselves “artists” the way he has - have told stories that are as beloved around the world, that have permeated the culture. He defined a style of action that can be seen in everything today, including big-budget Hollywood movies. But to me - a dinosaur who still calls himself a “cartoonist” - Toriyama was a true cartoonist. There have always been stereotypes applied to anime about it being stiff and expressionless; Toriyama had an art style that simply couldn’t be duplicated, and created some of the most colorful and expressive characters of all time. I often compare Toriyama/Dragon Ball to Charles Schultz/Peanuts, because of their loose, whimsical styles and playful storytelling. And while the series later leaned more into tropes about wild hairstyles and extended fight sequences, you could always see the heart of his creativity in illustrations for other franchises like Dragon Quest, and my favorite game of all time, Chrono Trigger.

I’ve done so many Dragon Ball-inspired doodles and sketches over the years. Farewell, Toriyama-san. We’ll see you in the next dimension.

“Why did Meau’s eyes change?”

The comic starts off with Meau in a much weaker state then where she was after she took a long rest. Her phenotype related genome had corroded and she was forced to relay on different genes to make her up visual appearance. They were repaired during that nap.
