Lost Rabbit.

“There are many different definitions of being lost...”

The tiny mage had never been to Pandaria before, not before Shin. Now he considered the island to be like a second home. He’d always find himself walking the gardens, taking in the beautiful scenery, as he waited for Shin to train. Sometimes it would take hours, sometimes longer, but he never minded. Sollarian would wait patiently, usually with his calligraphy set in tow, and mill away the hours lost in his own scribe work.

Today, however...was different

 Today - there was no Shin.

He hadn’t wandered off completely, leaving Shin a well detailed note of his whereabouts, his location not too far from Sin and Asherin currently dwelling. If he was needed for anything, he would be easily found. Long silver hair was braided loosely, hanging off his shoulder, the end of the braid landing right above his knee, his length now putting even Saerion to shame, and his robes resembling pandaren fashion - silk with intricate dragons threaded into the design. Today he wore them loosely, letting them hang off his shoulders, leaving the sensitive flesh exposed to the elements. 

Sollarian didn’t even seem to notice the rain drenching his robes and rolling off his skin, blinking a few times when he found a pleasant spot of the garden to take his mind off of things.

So much had happened in the last few days...and he’d kept such a brave front about everything, but today....he felt...

                                           Down.

He wasn’t sure why, not completely, but he did know he didn’t feel like burdening his lover more than he already had recently, no - he’d sort this one out himself.

Sollarian slid down next to a radiant cherry blossom tree, they’d always been his favorite, he hugged his thin legs to his chest, chin resting gently on his knees. His eyes watched the passing of water lazily, his mind drowning in it’s depths, taking his focus off his worries.

Something he much needed at the moment. Sol ran a slender finger over the filigree rabbit lock of his golden collar, he tried to pin down his emotions, to derive where this....sadness..was coming from. He whimpered softly, hugging his knees tighter to his chest. Normally, this would be the part where he would find Shin, the monk always readily greeting him with patience and reassurance, his words alone enough to take away all of Sol’s fears. 

It was be so easy, so easy to run to Shin...

He shook his head firmly, attempting to clear his thoughts, no - he couldn’t always run to Shin. There would be times that his lover might be unable to comfort him, times he would have to fend for himself....to become strong.

Yes, strong.

The arcane lept as his hand, coming as he wordlessly beckoned it forward, it danced along his fingertips, extinguishing only when he willed it. 

Strong, 

      He had become much stronger.

Though maybe not emotionally, he knew that physically he’d grown immensely the last few weeks, partly due to Shin’s intervention. But, it wasn’t enough. He wanted to become stronger - he wanted to protect Shin equally.

And though he knew, in due time, he would...it didn’t ease his pain in the now. Slender ears drooped at the side of his head, another strangled sob making it’s way up his throat, he trembled as the rain got colder.

Soon it would be dark, he needed to get back, but Sol found himself lacking the motivation to do so. So, he stayed there, tears rolling down his pale tender cheeks, his eyes dancing with anguish, even if he himself couldn’t completely understand it, rain continuing to beat down on his silk clad form.

Sometimes, you didn’t need to lose your direction to be lost, one could do so just by simply - being.

But but part 5 where Hen brings Maddie to him when she’s finally released from the hospital because chimney is so utterly convinced she’s better off without him 🥺

Chimney should have expected this. He should have seen it coming from the second Karen had told him Maddie was coming home from the hospital that day, and from the fact that it was Karen with him and not Hen. He’s still out on injury leave, but he knows Hen didn’t have to work that day. And whenever Hen is off work, she’s with him. So he should have realized what she was up to.

“Hi,” Maddie murmurs timidly, moving to sit down next to him on the bed even though he flinches away from me, “let me hug you, please?”

He shakes his head wordlessly, tears streaming down his cheeks.

“Howie,” she whimpers, her own eyes welling up with tears, “Howie, no. I know what Buck said to you, and I know that you believe it, but it’s all wrong. All wrong. You didn’t hurt me; none of this is your fault. Can you at least look at me?”

He just silently shakes his head again, and Maddie feels like Doug is stabbing her all over again. She wonders if Chimney feels the same.

“Chimney, none of this is your fault, and you punishing yourself isn’t fixing anything. The only thing that’s going to fix anything is time, talking about it, and letting me love you,” she whines, hoping “the l word,” which she means sincerely, will at least capture his attention but if it does, it still doesn’t translate into him looking at her.

“H-Hen says you won’t eat?” she asks shakily, “you must be so t-tired. So dizzy. Can you eat something, please? For me. I-I’m not leaving until I see you eat something.”

“Dontfeelgood,” he mumbles, and she can’t help but sigh in relief that he’s finally said something.

“I-I can give you a belly rub?” Maddie offers enthusiastically, “can rub your belly like you like and cuddle you and try to keep you calm.... maybe that will help it stay down? Please, Chim? Can we try? You need to eat.”

“Maddie,” he whispers, desperation in his voice, “please, just go. I want you to go.”

“No,” she huffs stubbornly, “I don’t care what you want. And you don’t actually want to me to leave, I know that. You just think it’s what you deserve. So no. I’m not leaving because it’s not true. You need and you deserve me, just like I need and deserve you. Now. What do you want to eat? Waffles, maybe? I brought waffles. Know that’s one of the few things you’ll eat when you’re stressed.”

“You’re not leaving, are you?”

“I brought syrup, too.”
