Gepard is havin a grand time. He's pretty out of it but can at least walk this time. How he's a pain in the ass but he admires his work ethic yada yada. He's unfamiliar with the area so he's hoping Sampo knows where they're going. He doesn't.

Neither of em make it home. Not even into a building. Sampo wakes up in the geomarrow equivalent of a tree, doesn't fall purely because he's damn near tied to the thing. There's more half empty bottles on the floor and Gepard has absolutely no clue where his jacket is and Sampo does not own a cane that embezzled, where did he get that?

There's an attempted 'arrest' of course. Gep may be off duty but he's nothing if not devoted to his role. They don't make it far and Bronya/Seele find them half curled up on the floor, holding their heads up against the cold brick XD.

Honestly gotta think more about the 'nasty' sides of my anthro au societies... As is the slugcat trend and biology I've charted out is mostly, i guess the word would be 'safe' perhaps the only kinda gross or animalistic thing I've put in is the tail slime and even that isn't really as gritty as the thing is based on (Caecillian skin nursing) but I also don't think slugcats would be prone to much of the 'unsavory' trends in animal stuff. But on the anthro side, we really can't pretend like ANY established species and cultures dont have things that were kinda unethical- even if they were unethical behaviors borne out of convenience or safety. So I think going for a pure, utopia-but-like-theres-predators is a little lamer... At most I've sorta worked out how I think my anthro scavenger's societal structures play out and there are more peaceful and more war-like tribes, pirate-types, etc. I've sorta figured out a couple of less-than-ethical treatments for lizards that I could see emerging in an early society that doesn't go for straight culling or just like outright abusive- I want stuff that could reasonably exist in a society, even if only for a bit until something else takes its place as a more convenient option. I don't like comically evil or pointlessly dark shit that clearly just trying to for edge rather than being an aspect of a society you could see the understanding for, and why its not judged within that society. Like sure a regular scavenger probably doesn't think that much about killing a normal slugcat pup, thats just an animal to it. But if we're making them both anthros in the same situation why the hell wouldn't other scavengers be like holy fuck dude thats like, absolutely just a baby person, thats bad.

a lovely anon asked me what sororities f1 drivers would be sorted into so here we go. i would like to say as a disclaimer is that greek life varies from campus to campus, so do take my opinions with a grain of salt. also, i was vp of recruitment last year so i know a thing or two about matching girls with chapters hehe.

i dont have much knowledge on dz (seeing as they were kicked off my campus before i rushed), BUT they were the it girls on my campus. they we're top house, everyone either loved or hated them or wanted to be them.

checo p. - gamma phi beta

gphi on my campus is so hit or miss (as are most organizations, but the chapter on my campus is more out right about it). they're either really nice or they really mean. i think checo has that charm about him LOL

charles l. - alpha chi omega

i don't have achi o on my campus, but of every video i've seen about them, they are more often than not the pretty, philanthropic, top house kind of gals. charles would fit right in. (also the cherry on top is that red is one of their colors).

carlos s. - kappa kappa gamma

i know nothing about kkg, but their mission statement says "...respect for intellectual development, and an understanding of and an allegiance to positive ethical principles" which i feel like is very carlos. carlos is always trying to learn more and get a better understanding.

lewis h. - alpha phi alpha / not rush

lewis would NOT join a phc organization. he would join one of the divine nine for sure, just in solidarity with culture and history. but i will say that the rush/pledging process of the divine can be fucking brutal so there's a chance he'd drop. or better yet, he wouldn't rush at all because he's better than that.

george r. - zeta tau alpha

george would 100% be a zeta. zeta is also a very top house sorority, but when you're zeta you are a die hard zeta. i feel like every sister of zta i've met lives and breathes zta. very george.

esteban o. - delta delta delta

they describe their org to be "an assembly of women with shared values where you can be yourself and belong to something bigger. we are brave, bold and kind." thats so esteban, and considering the work he's put into alpine + the time he's spent in the team. very este bestie of him.

i was gonna make him a zta, but when i was reading other sorority values i came across this chapter. under reputation it said "many consider them obsessed with their looks" and that just feels like pierre.

sk on my campus is on the come up. they recruit a bunch of cute, sweet little girls who are very active on campus. they're everywhere. like lando. he's every where.

i know what i said under checo but pretend you didnt read it for this. oscar is also gphi to me because theyre new member class is so bold and just wants to be involved in everything. giving oscar energy i think.

agds on my campus arent top house by any means, and they have girls who you would've thought would end up in top house but they chose agd. thats valterri to me.

these girls on my campus are super underrated. known to have the most genuine sisterhood on campus. they aren't super active on campus, and aren't super well known. but the people the know them, love them.

aligning with carlos. i think lance does try his best at what he does, and improve. he definitely aims to be bigger than daddy's boy. you know?

an asian sorority. i love these girls. theyre so goofy, but really sweet and also die hard for their chapter. yuki would thrive.

i love my adpis. so much. they're the sweetest girls ever. on my campus theyre super strong in academics and support so many diff organizations on campus. nyck is one hundred percent an adpi.

alex a. - alpha phi

part of their mission statement is "high expectations for character and a drive for innovation" which i feel is alex coded. i can't say what exactly, but alex just screams that.

logan s. - zeta tau alpha

he just has the look that would land him into zeta. what he brings to the table, we'll just have to wait and see.

Ok color is going to be a tough one to fully explain because colors are a Thing in my world that I haven't fully expanded on and defo have not posted to Tumblr yet. Very very basic version, everyone has colors. Two (sometimes four) colors and the combination of colors you have is uniquely associated with you. Sometimes it's just a shade difference so two people might look very similar, but only identical twins actually have exact matching colors.

That being said, Liam and Freya both share the color red as part of their own unique palettes, so their wings have red, their eyes have red, and their weapons (which I have completely revamped since I made my post about magical weapons) have red. Freya wears red a LOT, too.

So red for those two

Favorite food for both (I haven't made dishes that would exist in world [aside from dragon meat but that's not ethical and both would revolt if handed it] so fuck it pretend we have all real life foods on the table [also limiting myself to things I have eaten])

Liam's would be Chicken tikka masala (and he's fucking right)

Freya's would be tacos because likes the variety you can get with them and is far simpler than Liam

Liam's would be pork of any kind. He does not enjoy it and calls it bland, greasy, and with a horrible consistency.

Freya's is cheese. Of any kind. Aside from her just genuinely hating the taste and texture of any she's tried, she was one of the four who invented biology (not discovered it, she *invented* life) so she knows every step in the process it would take to get milk and unlike some of her siblings it disgusts her.

Secret they'll take to their grave:

The way they got together romantically. They'd been friends for decades by this point, though by this point both had the others weapon emblem (remember when I said I revamped how magical weapons work? That's what it is now instead of just having the others weapon) and both didn't realize the other did. Liam was from the future, he knew that Freya and the keeper of the sun were going to be partnered, which is actually why she chose whoever the keeper is to be the keeper, sohe knew he had no chance, and Freya has been trying to subtly tell him (the culture about romantic acts at that point in time had been really dumb so it was extremely subtle and focused around thoughtful gift giving instead of saying "i like you" [which is the fault of Liam's ancestors but we dont have time to get into that]) and hinting while he just grows increasingly confused for why the fuck shes flirting with him when he KNOWS she gets with the keeper.

She is making tapestries, songs, and even attempted forgework for weeks while he grows more and more dumbfounded. She is literally living with him and travelling with him and hugging him instead of whoever the keeper of the sun was going to be. Eventually he goes "fuck it, I have her emblem anyways and I have no idea how thisl turn out since my knowledge from the future says this is not right, but I don't think she's gonna stop till I answer her" so he starts making things for her. Makes a song or two, lots of jewelry, a failure of a tapestry to respond to her failure at forgework, and started leaning into those hugs instead of going stiff, etc etc. Eventually they both came clean, both of them showing they held the others emblem... And she announces that she's been waiting for his answer before she reveals she chose him to be the keeper of the sun.

Nowadays, both of them consider the entire thing the height of stupidity. They actually followed the really stupid culture at the time which led to confusion, Liam didn't realize that nothing prophetically stopped him from being both the Watcher and the Keeper, Freya didn't eventually break the cultural rules at the time and tell him straight or just give up when he seemed disinterested, Liam didn't just ask her what she was doing, Freya made the forgework, etc. They tell everyone that they did follow the stupid culture at the time of subtle gifting, but neither missed a signal and within only two weeks they had come clean and were actually together without anything stupid in the meantime. The forge attempt is unspoken, conveniently no one has asked why Liam who they knew knew Freya would get with the keeper would actually return the attention to Freya without hesitation (they know he's the watcher, and as the watcher he really SHOULD have known he coulda been the keeper at the same time, so they just assume he did) and more.

There is also an embarrassing story for them both individually, the Freya one I've already talked about in her own post (high heels story), but Liams I havent.

Liam is transmasc. His grandmother (Luonim Lililnu, so on his father's side of the family) was transfem. He heard the story of how her body changed at some point when he was a kid and he knew his sibling was born with a fairly different form but changed to become kinda not either way, so he just kinda assumes that just. Happens. Like everyone's body changes eventually by default.

He learned that no, that was actually the exception, when he asked his family as a little 7 year old equivalent "when does your body start changing". It took 5 minutes of explanation to realize he had not in fact discovered the idea of puberty but instead was just your typical impatient trans kid.

That story for Liam is not actually something that is kept to the grave, and he wouldn't even if he had the ability to stop everyone else from talking about it, but I just thought it was too funny not to share.

yeah it is. soooo forced. this feels a lot like the game saying "kiryu is straight we swear" when. majima. exists in the game and did all of that MES in k1, had kiryu outright admit that he feels more relaxed in front of goromi than the cabaret girls. when in y0 kiryu was presented with oda's feelings towards tachibana point blank with oda saying he liked tachibana in the non-platonic sense here

and then having rina swinging a sledgehammer to kiryu's sense of heterosexuality to the point that he had to sort it out on some level...

basically the concept of same-sex attraction has already been shoved into his mind, but the game pretends like it never happened or that kiryu was incapable of considering it. which is. a big contradiction if im supposed to believe that the guy has compassion and empathy to the point of accepting all the misfits he comes across...

it feels like backtracking and being insincere and unwilling to commit to a possibility of kiryu self-reflecting before k2 starts. this brute forcing is not working. i see some minor sparks with kaoru sayama and kiryu 10 hours into k2 but im pretty sure they are gonna fumble the bag so hard given the vibes im picking up overall.

kiryu in yk2 needs like. a female platonic bestie. someone he talks to on the same level with seonhee in y8 (their interactions are fucking amazing, more of THAT please)

ofc there can be a possibility that he isnt the type of person/character to reflect or apply that empathy and compassion to himself. bc he sure is doing some weird things in the name of chivalry and short term goals

after playing y1k my pet peeve is just how insincere parts of the story overall feels. how embarrassment seems baked into the series and even kiryu himself so far because they didn't want to fucking commit (just like kiryu's reflecting bucket list thing going on in y8).

ironically because majima is actually sincere and utterly shameless about his nonsense, majima ends up being best character by default imo so far. >_>;;

im just. genuinely baffled about some of the writing choices here even for the female interests. like u say theres little to no chemistry. i dont know what normal everyday things kiryu and this lady friend would enjoy together and talk about.

Lets talk about ethical consumption under capitalism, shall we?

Honestly I'm wholesale against judging folks for shit like spending money on problematic stuff as long as they're like. Aware of it and consistent about it, if that makes sense?

Like I definitely *encourage* people to consider the fact that every dollar they spend on FNAF or Spotify or Harry Potter WILL go toward conservative power structures that absolutely ARE killing people! But you wanna know something? Virtually every company you interact with, ever, uses U-line products in their back-end, because they're really the only company that provides it. That company is owned by the Uihleins, who are also extremely conservative and fund horrible legislature. Most of those companies ALSO use Amazon, and the crimes there are incredibly well-documented. I could go on with examples like these. This is true of all kinds of companies, including your favorite indie game companies, because capitalism means competing for survival, and things like "this company provides me what i need faster and for cheaper" are basically required to maintain a competitive edge. Some companies can manage to take a hard line stance against these things, but usually only after seeing massive success in their arena. Its an enormous crapshoot to continue to feed yourself and your employees without supporting evil support companies.

And yeah, we all know the whole "no ethical consumption under capitalism" and we all also know that its not a free ticket to do whatever you want and pretend its fine. Its not fine! But my point is that literally everyone in Capitalism is living unethically! Think of Doug Forcett in The Good Place; trying to live absolutely ethically and he STILL failed to meet ethical standards of The Good Place! Because its impossible!

So if nobody can be truly ethical, that means everyone has to find the way to be as ethical as they can while still just...living a life worth living. Which IS still important! The whole point of ethics is that enjoyment of life is something we all deserve, and that impeding that for others is fucked up! But since enjoyment is a personal, internal thing; I cant help but think that the balance of living ethically versus living a life you enjoy is also a very personal one. Therefore, judgment of others, especially when you dont know what they got going on in their lives, can often have the effect of making them feel bad about feeling good, ever! Theres been countless posts by folks with OCD here who struggle because they equate anything enjoyable with a lack of ethics! Judgment feeds into that just as much as it prevents conservatism going unchecked.

So am I saying that we should just let people do whatever? NO, definitely not! All of this is just to say that we are all fucking HUMAN! And that being a human is hard, and all that can be asked of us is our bests. Having an ever-watching social eye over our every action is just as harmful to our wellbeing as it is in the workplace, NOBODY works better under mass judgment! So if you want people to do better (as you should!) The best way to do so is without judgment, but instead with kindness and understanding.

in terms of what it is, well made film. the script had really powerful lines and they were delivered very well by really good actors. and the score...jesus fuck. i think it might jsut be me hearing things but the film ending with the final note of a song that sounds like an air raid siren oughhg

there's definitely room for criticism (both historical--accuracy-wise and film-making wise) but i do like the movie for what it is. i didnt find it enlightening per se cause i already knew a lot of the basic facts going in (or at least, the facts presented in this movie), but the presentation of it was so harrowing it's hard not to be affected. and that being said, i do think the film does a good job of presenting the impact of the atomic bomb in a way (ie, a (white) americentric way) so that certain groups of americans can finally understand why dropping the bomb was a bad fucking idea but only time will tell if that was successful. it'd be nice if i could stop seeing people say "well we had to" as if it was fucking america's hands tied behind its back. anyway

one thing i want to say but unfortunately i'm still not quite sure how to phrase is how i feel/what i got out of this movie as a white american soon-to-be-scientist. like, some details really gathered my attention, particularly about compartmentalism (an idea very anti-modern science...hiding your work like that from your countryman colleagues/the entire world of science at large would not fly today. clarity is very important. and especially in america, the events of the mid 20th century are really why it became proper etiquette to be absolutely transparent and i just think this film did a good job of explaining that even if unintentionally), how science and politics and ethics go hand in hand despite many white american scientists pretending so so hard otherwise for so long, and how oppenheimer was perfectly fine stealing native people's burial grounds from them to gain his own glory, but only grew a conscience about it later when it was clear the government would not give the land back and would build an h bomb with or without his assistance (so no glory for him there) and how that's reflective of well...modern colonialism honestly. it's a very "it's not about control it's about science!" excuse right now (see the mauna kea incident for example). speaking of, i really like the breakdown of the like mythical figure of oppenheimer. he is presented as the coward he 100 percent was in this film and you're not supposed to feel bad for him really -- maybe just kinda somber because of the greater whole (that being said i do wish they cemented this a bit more...)

it's definitely tonally a horror movie to be quite frank. which i think is only appropriate considering its subject matter

Speaking of perseverance, I have a whole ass mentor for my program that is literally going to help me with everything and I can literally feel myself enter into my anime trainee arc ala tkd. A part of me is so grateful and excited but a part of me is feeling some survivors guilt AND another part is feeling fucking pressure. Talk about needing to lock in.

Hmmmmmmm whats really bothering me is that if I am being very honest. It is tiring trying to pretend that I am emotionally invested in software engineering. Its actually a lot like tkd. Was I emotionally invested in tkd as a practice? Sure I even had some parts that I was very good at and preferred. Did I train outside the context of class? No.

I also didn't grow up wanting to do it and after 7 years I quit. I went far beyond then I thought but what I loved most was that it was a physical activity cause I love running around and the people were amazing.

SE is similar in that I didn't exactly grow up wanting to do it. There are parts I like, like systems analysis for example and python. The people have been a mixed bag but this new chapter has people that are very much on my side. And I do like solving problems.

I need to accept that I dont have to be emotionally over leveraged in order for the discipline and work ethic to be there. I can just start from a place of curiosity for the craft. It just feels awkward communicating with people that are emotionally over leveraged in it cause it is there passion. This must be how people feel talking to me when I talk about business and labour. That's actually the areas that im most interested in. Yada Yada Yada, software unique positioning for larger goals you get the picture. And the funny thing is once I get good at something,and I mean really good at it, I absolutely love doing it. Tech support was an acception due to the customer service aspect and being sick but yeah thats my usual brain. And I get so happy when I write code that works,especially if I had to troubleshoot it,its literally like a tiny mental orgasm it's amazing! I just need to foster that because thats how you get passionate. It's like im dating the craft and im expecting all this romance with no rapport.

Something I also need to keep in mind is that because I persevere and now have people on my side and am learning more and more, just like tkd, the craft is going to start loving me back. Tkd the sport AND the people gave me soooo much and made me into such a better person all around that it is still a big part of who I am (especially in regards to how I socialize and tend to carry myself)

I wonder how SE will shape me, but I need to show up in everyway to find out. So far, especially recently, I am very confident that it will me for the better.

every single day, advancements in technology are being made that allow people to do more, that offer people more methods and means of input than ever before, just take for example, the visually impaired, they had braille before, but now, many many new devices and softwares support speech-to-text and text-to-speech functionality! and if speech is an issue, there's still braille!

not to mention the infinite number of ways that visual artists can make use of different mediums and tools and prosthetics to still create absolutely gorgeous works.

we should pour all of our support in developing and making REAL accessibility technologies, and making them financially and globally accessible instead of pretending this embodiment of greed and laziness can possibly do any good, especially as it currently stands.

if Ai genuinely generated its own content I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it, however what Ai currently does is scrape other people's art, collect it, and then build something based off of others stolen works without crediting them. It's like. stealing other peoples art, mashing it together, then saying "this is mine i can not only profit of it but i can use it to cut costs in other industries.

this is more evident by people not "making" art but instead using prompts. Its like going to McDonalds and saying "Burger. Big, Juicy, etc, etc" then instead of a worker making the burger it uses an algorithm to build a burger based off of several restaurant's recepies.

Aside from that theres a lot of other ethical problems with it including generating pretty awful content, including but not limited to cp. It also uses a lot of processing power and apparently water? I haven't caught up on the newer developements i've been depressed about it tbh

Then aside from those, studios are leaning towards Ai generation to replace having to pay people. I've seen professional voice actors complain on twitter that they haven't gotten as much work since ai voice generation started, artists are being cut down and replaced by ai art then having the remaining artists fix any errors in the ai art.
