this wasn’t what you expected when you decided to take the job at hyosan high school, to say the least.

you weren’t a very squeamish person, but zombies walking around everywhere? nuh uh, that was the end of you. but of course, this was just your luck for accepting the first job you could get after you had finished university and got a degree. maybe you should have waited until another job offer had come and see which one was better. but there wasn’t much time to think about it now, what had been done was done and now you were stuck in the middle of a freaking apocalypse.

wasn’t really what you thought you would be doing once you got out of university, you thought being a teaching assistant would be fun, just to train you for the real thing. but now you were stuck in the middle of a classroom, hiding away from the flesh eating zombies when you heard multiple footsteps running past your door.

you peeked out from where you were sat under the teachers desk, and alone behold, a group of teenagers you barely recognised ran past. and a few minutes later, calling out. you weren’t completely stupid, you knew zombies couldn’t talk, much less say another student’s names.

the corridor with your class was fairly empty of the zombies, but you knew it wouldn’t take long for them to get there if they heard, or smelled, fresh meat. you rushed out from underneath the teachers desk and opened the classroom door that wasn’t fully barricaded by chairs and desks.

the girl now, you recognised, choi nam-ra, a class president. you called her over, and she walked into the classroom, helping you barricade the door with chairs and desks as you both heard the zombies start to come down the corridor.

you leant against the tables as you both finished stacking and barricading the door. nam-ra stared at you for a couple of seconds before speaking up.

“have you been in here since the start?” she asked quietly, you glanced up at her and nodded.

“who were you calling out for?” you asked in return.

“me and the group i was with got separated. i was slightly slower than him because i’m injured, and nobody turned around to check i was still with them” your eyes widened and you began to back away when you heard about her injury, when she reassured you. “its not a bite, i promise”

she lifted her skirt up slightly to show you an extremely bloody bandage on her leg, she began to unravel it to show you the fairly deep gash underneath, you winced slightly.

“you didn’t get any of their blood in it?” you asked softly, kneeling down to examine the gash. you were no professional, but you had some medical training and knew what to do in this situation.

“no” she whispered, looking down at you, her face slightly flushed.

you nodded softly and told her to sit on one of the chairs left in the middle of the room, she did as you asked and you rifled through the cupboards to find any kind of med kit that may help, you eventually found one and walked back to nam-ra, pulling up a chair in front of her and telling her to lay her leg on it before pulling another chair up and sitting on it.

you got rubbing alcohol and put it on a clean cloth.

“this may hurt” you tell her, looking into her eyes, she nodded slightly.

you started cleaning around the cut before softly cleaning the cut as well as you could, nam-ra winced and gripped onto your free hand that was sitting on your lap. you glanced up at her face, she had her eyes screwed closed, her hand gripping onto yours tightly.

you finished cleaning the cut and grabbed the needle and thread inside of the med kit before looking at her. her eyes were trained on your hands, before realising you had stopped and she looked at you.

“this may hurt a little more than cleaning” you say, and she nodded again.

you stitched her up, making sure it was neat and tidy before you grabbed some more bandages and bandaged her leg up as though to preform a protective field.

“all done” you smile at her, patting her leg slightly. “you’re going to have to be as careful as you possibly can with that leg now, as careful as you can be in an apocalypse” you say as you put the med kit back where you got it.

“thanks” she says, and you turn to her with a smile as you close the cupboard.

“its no problem at all”

for the next few hours, you sat and talked about school, and how it was going for her and you, you being a new person to the school. since you were decently young, you had a lot of the male student hitting on you, and you both joked about it seeing as nam-ra had the same problem but slightly different as she was slightly younger than them all.

the zombies were still crowded outside your room, so you had no way of getting back out and finding the rest of nam-ra’s group, but she told you that she wasn’t that worried about it as she had at least someone with her.

as it started to get dark, you found two cans of some kind of food before walking back to nam-ra with the two in hand.

“not the best, but its as good as I can do” you smile sympathetically at her.

you both ate in silence, the only sound being the zombies outside.

when you had both finished eating, you carefully took the cans and placed them with the other empty ones you had already eaten. making sure the doors were secured and no zombies could get it, you sat with nam-ra again.

“you should sleep” you said softly as you saw her tired expression. “you’re injured after all” she only nodded in response, figuring it was the best you could get, you turned your attention to the door.

look s2 was ass and i hate ori in a pod and dictator cait shouldve been explored more and so much and so much theres so much wrong with it, the writers were ass, i fucking hate riot, never trust that company for anything ever, AND ALSO jayvik makes me fucking cry man. i was so deadfaced for most of act 3 (aside from bursting into laughter when it got so absurd i felt like i was losing my sanity) but then they started throwing the fucking flashbacks to s1 at you and there was viktor being himself again, happy and funny and him and jayce nerding out over science magic whateverthefuck, and jayce said "all i want is my partner back," and externally i was like slack-jawed, blinking, shocked. like wait really? we're getting a fucking she-ra ending? this couldve been built up to so much better this is coming from fucking nowhere but really?? jayvik is back it's fucking back it's real??!?!??

and it was so overwhelming. internally i couldve been bursting into fucking tears. im still reeling over it more than a week later, like. is this what it felt like when tfgraves finally got to have their thing in pride 2022? people are saying jayce and viktor died in that explosion and maybe, maybe not, but that didn't feel sad to me. i guess it could be, it's impossible for me to take s2 seriously from a storytelling standpoint, but this isn't about that. like. two guys choosing each other over everything and everyone else. the sheer fucking devotion between them that toed the line of text and subtext since season fucking one. it's right there, on full display, center stage, and this is the actual culmination of the story i guess. wasnt set up at all this cast was way too bloated for its own good, but the fact that it exists. the fact that it's been brought to the forefront, they are FORCING YOU to talk about it. that one showrunner fucking lost his marbles on twitter because it was so hard to ignore, because the love there was just so unabashed and shameless and visible

I'm. I dunno. This is dredging up a lot of old feelings of loneliness being a trans gay man feeling like an outsider looking in to the queer community. It's a lot. Okay professional post done, let's get into my insanity.

In an Instagram post, Annalise said the girls' sculpts came from the DC Superhero Girls line (Bow is from MH G2 in case you've missed that in previous posts). This always confused me because from the photos of the DC dolls I found, they didn't seem to match, plus there are some changes on the She-ra dolls, like Glimmer's "curvier" sculpt (also something Annalise mentioned and, well, I can see on the sculpt comparison she is right but boy is that waist measurement the same) when the DC line didn't seem to have body type diversity, but her portfolio finally answered these questions for me.

Part of my confusion was because there were two lines under the same DC Superhero Girls name, one in 2016 (which was most of what I turned up and focused on) and one in 2019. The 2019 line did actually feature body diversity, but the She-ra line began work in 2017, so while it was possible they pulled the bodies from the in-development 2019 refresh, I thought it was more likely they used the 2016 ones.

This comparison from Annalise's portfolio shows the difference between the two DC lines. None of the articulation counts match the She-ra dolls, as they have 11, so they had some added regardless of the base body.

[Left picture from Ebay since Annalise doesn't have body photos for this line] Left to right, this shows the 2019 DC "Slim" body type on Harley Quinn, Adora's sculpt (the same base sculpt used for Catra and Shadow Weaver), and the 2016 DC bodies on Batgirl (molded outfit details changed for each doll and sometimes chest articulation was added, but otherwise they were all the same). Based on this comparison, I believe the 2019 Slim sculpt was used for the She-ra line as it is by far the closest match, so they were probably pulling from the in-development line and just added details as needed. (Note: the Petite sculpt for the 2019 line is extremely similar to the Slim sculpt, but I'm confidant SPOP used the Slim sculpt from the chest and the fact that the Adora, Catra, and Shadow Weaver dolls are taller than Glimmer's doll)

Adora, Shadow Weaver, and Catra were all molded with the exact same torso in different colors. This torso had a circular hole added in the back with a plug that was popped out to make room for Catra's tail on her. I believe this torso variant with the hole was added for the She-ra line as I haven't seen a DC girl who has it or would even need it.

I have no idea why they included this (filled in, but still) on all the She-ra dolls since they have a version without it already and they're all cast in a different plastic/skin color, but it meant they had to move the molded copyright info up.

For the arms and legs of the Adora and Shadow Weaver dolls, they're exactly the same and seem to just be the DC Slim type with elbow and wrist articulation added. There were a couple hand styles for the DC dolls and they just picked one style to use for all the She-ra dolls (right fist, open left hand).

Catra's hands and lower legs are slightly different as claws have been added and, as noted in Annalise's portfolio, the arch of her foot was changed so she could stand without shoes, but otherwise her body is the same. And, of course, she has the back slot opened for adding in her tail.

Now, onto the doll that I've always had the most questions about: Glimmer! Knowing about the body diversity in this 2019 line now, this is less mystifying to me (I always wondered if they pulled her body from another unnamed line or modified the sculpt used for the other girls), but now the question is: which doll did her body type come from?

The DC line had Muscular/Curvy, Tall, and Petite/Curvy body types in addition to the Slim and Petite body types.

[Left Supergirl from Ebay, middle Glimmer, right Catwoman from Ebay] Well, damn. Now we run into a problem. Left is the Muscular/Curvy body. Right is the Petite/Curvy body (confirmed by comparing it with Bumblebee's body which I know is P/C, but this Catwoman photo is better than the one of Bumblebee), and middle is Glimmer's. Glimmer isn't a perfect match for any of them. Her torso and legs match the P/C body (as does her height relative to Adora/Catra/Shadow Weaver), but her arms don't match either body type. (Also: this sculpt shows her as having two opened hands, but she ended up with the right fist/open left hand all the other She-ra dolls have).

Alright, so lets sus this out. Here's the list of DC characters that got 2019 dolls that I found, along with their doll body type:

Supergirl (teen, superhero): Muscular/Curvy

Wonder Woman (teen, superhero): Tall

Batgirl (teen, superhero): Petite

Zatanna: Muscular/Curvy

Bumblebee: Petite/Curvy

Green Lantern/Jessica Cruz: Slim

Katana: Slim

Harley Quinn: Slim (visual match - not officially confirmed)

Catwoman: Petite/Curvy (visual match - not officially confirmed)

As far as I can tell, there is no just plain "Curvy" body. It looks to me like the P/C arms are pretty much the same as what the Petite and Slim bodies have, and Glimmer's arms are thicker than Catra and Adora's (something you can see in the sculpt but that I've also confirmed is present on the final dolls IRL). My best guess for Glimmer's sculpt is: she is using the Petite/Curvy body and legs, but her arms are based on the ones used for the Muscular/Curvy body. I think her shoulders have been reduced a little from the base M/C arm sculpt, either to fit onto the P/C body or to be more screen accurate.

This is kind of an odd solution, but it's the best guess I have based on the data I've been able to gather. I have checked and I don't think it's plausible she's using the Tall arms - they're too broad at the shoulder and too thin everywhere else. Maybe one day if someone is selling the Supergirl and Bumblebee doll together for five dollars I'll get them and do an IRL comparison between the three, but this is the solution I'm the most confident in, so that's my final assessment for now!

im rewatching she-ra and naturally im gonna want to write about it a lot. starting by breaking down the catradora conflict origin story scene from s01e02 the sword part 2

people have said this before but the most important thing to keep in mind here is how different their understanding of whats going on is. theyre both approaching this with completely different views and so they misunderstand what the other means.

Adora: There's no time. We have to put a stop this.

Catra: What? Why?

Adora: Because this is a civilian town. Look around! These aren't insurgents. They're innocent people.

Catra: Yeah, sure. Innocent people who kidnapped a Horde officer. Now come on, let's get you back to the Fright Zone. Shadow Weaver is freaking out. [laughing] It'd be funny if she weren't such a terrible person.

so immediately theres two things i wanna say about this part, about how catra reacts to stuff. first off, something we learn about catra throughout the whole show and especially in the portal-alternative-reality, is that shes big on Pretending Nothing Is Wrong. whenever shes feeling upset or angry about something, she will start joking around and acting like shes just totally super chill guys, dw ("Ugh, whatever. It's not like I even care. I just wanna get out of this dump at some point before I dieee of boredom). Shes acting like that in this scene. Adora was missing for hours, shadow weaver was breathing down her neck and threatening her, she was already worried adora might have left at this point. she cant let adora know how worried she was tho, so shes all jokes and fast paced conversation. To Adora, tho, it just looks like catra doesnt care, like she doesnt understand the gravity of the situation.

and the other thing is that honestly? I dont think catra does care. about the town, i mean. i think catra was ready for war in a way adora never was. theyre both seeing combat for the first time here, and adora hates it. training for war is completely different than being in the battlefield, and adora couldnt handle it. face to face with it she couldnt tolerate seeing people suffering and dying, houses being burned down, a whole village destroyed. when the horde brainwashed adora into thinking they were only doing the necessary to save etheria, she completely and fully believed it, and when faced with the reality of the horde she immediately realized how wrong that was. Catra, tho, could not care less. she never believed in what the horde said, she knew full well what the horde did, so this isnt a surprise for her. and i do think shes naturally a bit sadistic, or at least growing up among the violence of the horde made her so. either way, shes seeing battle here for the first time and shes completely fine with it. doesnt even spare it all a second glance. why would she care about these people she never met if the most important thing in the world is right here in front of her? (i think even if adora hadnt left that night and went into the battlefield as a force captain, she wouldve ended up deserting. she cant stand seeing people suffer and she cant stand not saving them. shes too good, too selfless for that. catra isnt.) (also she is so ready to kill at all times. she loves violence. i once saw someone say how shadow weaver thought adora was the "cutthroat, ruthless warrior" when that was actually catra and they were totally right)

adora is also trying something futile here, she doesnt need to explain to catra that the horde is bad and hurts innocent ppl because catra has known that all her life

Adora: Catra, no. I can't go back. Not until the Horde leaves this town alone. You have to help me.

Catra: What are you saying?

Adora: I’m saying, this is wrong. They've been lying to us, manipulating us. Hordak, Shadow Weaver, all of them.

Catra: Duh! Did ya just figure that out? Manipulation is Shadow Weaver's whole thing. She's been messing with our heads since we were kids.

(the captions in the pics are slightly wrong, nvm that.) everything i said before. adora just realized all of this, while catra has always known, probably because the abuse adora suffered was more manipulation-and-brainwashing, while shadow weaver always made clear to catra that she didnt give a shit about her, so she suffered physical abuse with little attempt to convince her this was fine.

the "what are you saying?" is one of the things that show how different their perspective is. adora is talking about going against the horde and helping the town, while catra immediately gets more personal. what do you mean? are you saying that you might leave the horde? leave me?

Adora: How could you possibly be okay with that?

adora means, how could you be ok with the horde lying about its actions, and killing innocent people? how could you be ok with the horde raising us to do the same? and catra hears, how could you be ok with shadow weaver and hordak abusing us?

Catra: Because, it doesn't matter what they do. The two of us look out for each other. And soon we'll be calling the shots. Now come on, can we go home already?

catra replies: because, i love you. because you have my back and i have yours. because nothing really bad can happen as long as we have each other, remember? and soon enough, we'll be powerful enough that they cant hurt us anymore. Adora hears, because i dont care about these people dying, the only thing thats important is you and i. and anyways, soon its gonna be Us killing them, isnt that good? lets go back home to the evil murder place.

Adora: I'm not going home, Catra. I can't. Not after everything I've seen. Come with me. You don't have to go back there. We can fix this.

adora says: im starting to realize now how wrong i was about everything. we're not the good guys, and i cant stand for that. i cant stand around and watch people get hurt. i cant stand around and watch you get hurt. lets leave, together, and have a better life, please. lets do the right thing.

Catra: Are you kidding? You've known these people for, what, a couple of hours? And now you're just gonna throw everything away for them?

catra hears, shes willing to leave me. after everything i did for her, all that i took, all of these years of us being together, she would still leave me. she would break our promise. she would leave me behind.

and then she straight up electrocutes adora. ok

she says it was a reflex, but i dont know if i believe her. i dont think she likes hurting adora (not physically. not by this point, anyways), but i do think that shes the type to lash out when upset and immediately regret it, then feel guily about it. which just makes her more upset. :(

Catra: Oh, man. That was a lot stronger than I thought. Are you okay?

Adora: Why are you doing this?

Catra: Because you left me! And if I don't bring you back, Shadow Weaver’s gonna have my head. So, enough with your weird little identity crisis and let's go home already. Or do I need to zap you again?

thats the last time they talk. adora gets teleported away by glimmer, and when they see each other again, its clear that they both made their choice.

the moment adora showed catra she was willing to leave her, there was no coming back for them. because catra would never get over that. she'd spend all her life in that hellscape, putting up with abuse and bullying and probably so much more we dont get to see, because of the promise adora made her. and, in her eyes, adora was ready to leave her on the first opportunity that came up. that hurt. that broke her. and that released something really ugly inside of her.

one thing that is annoying about watching shows like owl house or amphibia or she-ra is that i get the constant frustration from all the little mistakes and goofs and cliches they fall in, and so, out of spite, i cant stop thinking of how i would do something better, something fresher, something more interesting, better thought out, more grounded, more compelling. and then i start spitballing ideas for my own version of a cool show childrens about a bunch of plucky diverse heroes with a quirky girl protagonist who defeat some faux fascistic evil empire on a magical land.

and whats so frustrating about all this is that i dont want to tell those stories! i dont want to add yet another generic fantasy story about children defeating evil, i dont want to be the 14th compeeting standard, these stories are boring and have been run to the ground and the world doesnt need any more of them. but every time i watch these shows the ideas wont stop coming. a part of me cant stop thinking "but maybe ill be the one who will add a new fresh spin on the genre" that is what every other creator of these shows thought! im not going to be "the one who does it right" and even if i could be that is just not a game i want to play

Ok im gonna piss of a whole fandom w this. but here we go lol

So ive been thinking abt She-ra lately (spop specifically) and ohmy god it fucking sucks. like i get so mad anytime i remember it, like and if anyone asks me abt it im gonna warn them do NOT watch this show FOR UR OWN GOOD. unless u dont mind an entire season of fanservice AND BY FANSERVICE I DONT MEAN NUDITY OR THE ANIME KIND, ILL GIVE YALL THAT, i mean specifically how they made catradora canon w virtually no other buildup than they were raised together and ooh they hate each other ouuh ;)) enemies to lovers oouogh🫦 like if ur gonna make a ship like theirs work its gotta have some sort of proper progression w their relationship right? But no, the ENTIRE time up until MIDWAY INTO THE LAST SEASON theyre constantly at each others throats like. its not even fun at that point, it just looks weirdly abusive and toxic. And hey, while were still here, catradora in execution is Such a bad ship bc like. They were raised together. by the Same Person. not even just under the Horde, theyre literally both raised by Shadow weaver. and before their rivalry and in several flashbacks their relationship moreso implicates sisterhood than anything. like idk i dont wanna get too bold here, but it just feels a little too close to !nc3st to just put them together like that?

Omg and lets talk about Fucking SHADOW WEAVER omg. like throughout the whole show were shown and told abt how much of an abusive parental figure she was to adora and especially catra right? But then at THE LITERAL VERY END, Shadow Weaver SELFLESSLY sacrifices herself to help catra and adora save the world. SHadow Weaver, whose entire essence was her desire for Power, who betrayed her own people to obtain it. Who's only semblance of a redemption was her working with the Princesses, just because she would be in a better position of power. no remorse whatsoever for how she treated the two as kids. Nevermind her fake-out to catra that one time, in fact that scene highlights just how easily she'll manipulate those close to her to get what she wants. and u expect me to just "oh wow shadow weaver is so noble for that! This is so sad! poor catra and adora, they lost their now-good mommy!" (again, *their* mommy, eugh). Like im having a hard time believing they were able to mourn her loss like that at all. We've seen them both have very complicated feelings about Shadow weaver. Ok well to be fair we didnt actually GET to see them mourn. which IS ALSO SOMETHING I HAVE ISSUE WITH

the SPEED AT WHICH THE 5TH SEASON RAN omg i HATED IT I HATE IT SO FUCKING MUCH. SO MUCH HAPPENING IN LIKE !) EPS OMG, and on top of that WE DONT EVEN GET A PROPER CONCLUSION???? U EXPECT ME TO BE SATISFIED W THEM ENDING THE LAST EPISODE 5 MINS AFTER SAVING THE WORLD????? And ohmygod DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON HOW THEY SAVED THE WORLD AUGHJLFDRCRJ IT WAS SO BAD Like girl i need SOME kind of CONCLUSION, not just "yay the horde is gone! sunshine and rainbows! bye bye!" GIRL WHAT THE FUCK??! WHAT HAPPENS AFTER??? I WANNA SEE THEM REBUILD ???? I WANT A FLASH FORWARD (AND NO ADORA'S 5 SECOND VISION WHILE SEEKING THE HEART DOESNT COUNT), I WANNA SEE EVERYONE ADJUSTING TO THEIR NEW LIVES. I WANT SOME SWEET SWEET BANTER. I DONT WANT TO READ A FANFIC DEPICTING ALL THAT BC THE CREW GOT LAZY. I WANT A NICE BASE FOR ALL THAT. U GET WHAT I MEAN??!?!?

I think i should mention that i am in no way shape or form homophobic or anything, i am literally the president of the fruitcake club, ok? but the catradora kiss was probably the worst canonization of a relationship in an animated series ever, period. Like really? while Adora's half dead?? and otherwise the whole world ends if u dont?? And with only 5 minutes of runtime left ?????? I am being edged. I am being edged in the worst possible way. I hate it so much. "Dont leave me adora! I LOVE you! I ALWAYS have!!" HUHHH???? U EXPECT ME TO BELIEVE THAT????? "i love u too🥰" HUHHHHH???? GIRL WHEN DID THIS DEVELOPMENT HAPPEN??? U hung out for literally 3 DAYS and u expect me to believe u guys went from enemies to working out their issues to googoo eyes???? when there was HARDLY ANY OF THAT THERE TO BEGIN WITH???? also just the overall trope of "oh no the world is ending, if i kiss this guy it'll be saved" is sososo bad, idc if its a straight or gay couple, it is probably the most annoying trope ever. like gyattdayum i didnt know i was watching an old Disney movie. i thought this was an epic scifi my bad. Yall need a moment? Do u wanna fuck too? Maximize ur "power of love" slay so the world is extra saved? jesus christ. its the "true loves kiss" trope all over again. Like thats such a rude way to treat a ship too. I want to see it in action, i want to see real progression, ESPECIALLY bc its the main ship, not "ooh they might be gay!!11! ooh they might kiss :) oouhh" and then last second theyre like "btw theyre in love now ;)"

Like id *maybe* get it if there were time constraints like with TOH, id get it if they were like "the idea and concept were there, mr CEO wanted us to shut down the party." but from my research, they didnt really have any constraints like that. And im saying *maybe* bc like with TOH for instance, even though they were forced to cut the show in half, they still delivered everything to progress and end the show properly! They had an *afterword*! they had Lumity and Huntlow and Raeda!! And oh my god the progression of Lumity is so sweet and beautiful! we get to see their "enemy" phase, we get to see them fall for each other, we get to see them date, we get their First Kiss!! We get to see how much they care for each other!! And sure, on the flipside we dont really get to see Huntlow. But thats bc the show got cut before it could *really* take off. There was supposed to be a whole season of Willow and Hunter's hijinks while the gang was in Connecticut. There was supposed to be a whole season of the gang adjusting to Connecticut! We were supposed to see the Archivists involvement and the ultimate showdown in the 4th season!! But they had to be economical bc of the cut, right? So they made a montage of Connecticut, they made three separate, HOUR LONG episodes depicting what couldve happened in the 3rd and 4th seasons. we get to see Willow reciprocate Hunters feelings in the 2nd ep! And most importantly, we get a real conclusion!! we get to see everyone rebuild, we get to see how theyve adjusted, how their lives and relationships have changed. We get a satisfying moment for it all to sink in. we get to properly say our farewells to the characters. All loose ends are properly tied! The Owl House may not be in my top list of cartoons, but u have to admit, it has a very good and satisfying conclusion. And all that with such intense time constraints too.

Now dont get me wrong, She-ra and its characters is written incredibly well (mostly) and its LGBT/POC rep is a game-changer. Heck, i loved Scorfuma, and that was only crumbs of a side ship. And the character designs/animation/colors are absolutely gorgeous, like that is honestly what probably pulled me to watch this show. Im just disappointed in what couldve been, yk? It had so much potential. especially in its last season, it just feels like the writers had too much setup and didnt know how to resolve it. 2/10 would not recommend.

In your opinion, what is Pit Madness really? Like, in what way does it affect Jason?

pit madness is a symptom that some people experience after exposure to a lazarus pit, to me it is one of those things where maybe you get it maybe you dont like how not everyone who has a concussion developes post concussion syndrome. i didn’t see any evidence that jason has ever been pit mad in my reading of lost days and utrh, ra’s al ghul mentions it but jason seems sensible and lucid for everything he does so i think it was more ra’s being unhappy that talia went around him to dunk jason and using it as a reason she was in the wrong than anything else.

i hate the way pit madness shows up in fanon because it is usually an excuse to ignore things jason has done and the reasons why he did them, or it is some sort of episode where he is not in control and is prone to indiscriminate violence. both of those limit his agency, call his judgement and perspective into question, and take away focus from what i think are more interesting aspects of his character for example:

the paradox of the comfort and safety he finds in isolation vs his human need for connection and love

or another one is his unshakable belief that he doesn’t matter and the numerous and elaborate ways he tries to prove to himself and others that he does

or even the loss of identity and purpose he had after his death and how he still isn’t sure what would be meaningful and fulfilling for him and explorations of him learning to make his good days good enough that they are worth all the bad ones

circling back to pit madness i just don’t think it will ever be as (fraught? urgent? significant? emotionally engaging?) as a fully lucid jason trying to process the feelings of abandonment and rejection and betrayal and anger that he has to wrestle every time he sees bruce be a loving father to everyone but him or a symbol of justice to the whole city or the pillar of morality for a group of heroes. if he loses it and goes green every time the emotions get real intense i lose these moments of agony and the realizations he comes to as a result.

there is no way i can think of to twist pit madness so that it is as interesting to me as some of the things i have mentioned. pit madness gives the same vibes as soap opera amnesia plots and identical twins separated at birth where you get to put white out over large swathes and make up character motivations out of nothing. in fanfic people can do all that but when it escapes fic and starts to inform how people see canon it is pretty frustrating.

-under the cut is the non rushed version, but skip it if u dont give a shit- Dont mind me just rambling, so if you dont rambling just keep scrolling (dont say i didnt warn u, i mean i think i even go off topic prob)

So everyone who has watched she ra s5, knows that chipped catra is catra fighting adora (and not holding back) under horde primes control.

and so chipped catra was just fighting under horde primes control, not holding back (head-canon!: i would think that catra could see everything "she was doing" but coulnt stop it). Chipped catra did fight adora for a bit, damaging adora alot with the potential scarring outcome. But for chipped catra to make a kill swing

........just what

if adora didnt dodge (barely), then she would most deferentially be dead and boom! Horde prime just won

but adora did get to catra about bringing her home. That would have hit the "normal" catra and thats when the chip was quickly deactivated for catra to say "Promise?"

you could see how scared adora was to the idea of having to hurt catra to live. but getting to catra with her words (adora is good with her words) Horde prime could see what was gonna happen. Horde prime makes catra say her "final words"

Now what i think happened (im not sure bout it tho) is that when catra said her "final words" Horde prime did a certain thing. Since the chip was on catras neck, that has one of the important nerves in her body, leading straight to the brain. thats why horde prime put it there. When he turned off her chip and cut the connection, he sent something to her brain, cutting off that nerve. killing catra.

now if ur like

heres a simple version.

the chip on catras neck was ontop of something that helped her body work, when horde prime turned off her chip, he cut the line from her brain to that important thing, killing her.

so quick some up, one of these 2 wuz gonna die when catra was chipped. Catra by horde prime killing her, and Adora if catra landed that kill swing

so yeah, adora saves catras life. adora gave catra a chance. Catra gave back that favor almost

Catra accpeted her death in the final episode, almost to die with that monster thingy that was stopping adora to get to the heart. But as we all know, shadow weaver jumps in

Shadow weaver dies so Catra could live and adora could make it to the heart

Catra feels this act by Shadow weaver the hardest (in my mind) because shadow weaver made catra who she was, and why she has her ways and things around people... Catra was gonna die right then, she accepted only for shadow weaver to jump in.... EVEN AFTER EVERYTHING ADORA HAS DONE TO CATRA, SHE WAS STILL READY TO DIE FOR HER....THAT BASICALLY JUST PROVES HOW MUCH CATRA LOVES ADORA!!

ALSO Prime saying "YOUR Adora will die" and the terror on Catra's face, and we know by now how explicitly Catra wants Adora, makes the fact that Prime previously said "your Adora" to Catra and "your Catra" to Adora hit so much harder, they really did belong to each other

I STARTED CRYING BECAUSE AS MUCH AS ADORA LEFT CATRA FOR THE REBELLION, CATRA LEFT ADORA FOR THE HORDE BUT SHE REFUSED TO LEAVE HER AGAIN EVEN IF IT MEANT SHE'D DIE WITH HER CATRA WOULDNT LEAVE ADORA, EVEN WHEN ADORA LEFT HER 3 YEARS AGO!!!!!!

'Carterrrr!! C'mon, I've been waiting out here for ages, what're you even doing in there!!'

Sadie was pounding on the door of the bathroom, her foot tapping impatiently on the floor.

'Quit hogging all the warm water, im going to get frostbite with how much you're using!'

She was met with no reply, which made her more frustrated.

'I swear by ra, if you don't not get out there in the next five minutes or so, I will break down the door and!-' she faltered for a moment when she heard Carter.....

No....it couldn't be.

He was always her big brother, Carter never cried!

She put her ear to the door and her hand on the handle, as she heard the sound again. True, she had to strain her ears through the flowing water

"Mnnn....h-how- i cant, how would i?"

Her eyes widened as she realised the dor was locked.

Oh by the gods no! Carter was not going be alone for this, it was clear he needed someone! Or at least thats what she told herself as the whimpers got louder and soft sobs started to echo off the walls of the bathroom.

She looked towards Amos' room, though she knew that the chance he would have been able to help was slim. He'd been rather sick and frail since his possession by set.

Sadie sighed and rummaged her pockets for a bobbypin, her hands eagerly grasping said pin after a few seconds of rummaging. Lifting it to the lock and trying to manoeuvre it open.

She knew she could do it, it's was her favourite trick to show off to Liz and Emma when the classroom door was locked. [Or when the principals car was locked, but that was another story in itself]

She gently opened the door and was met with the sight of Carter slumped against the wall crying, his clothes damp from the mist.

'Oh Carter, what happened to you?' She sighed softly, resting her hand softly on his shoulder.

'I-its just-' his voiced cracked, his deep brown eyes now red and swollen. 'First its dad, whose technically dead now, then it's Amos getting possessed by set, and then it's zia-'

He started breaking down harder, the thought of his "technically-not-a-girlfriend-but-made-out-of-clay" made his head hurts on good days and made him break down on worser ones.

'Carter- listen, I know it's...hard...more than that, actually, to cope with....well...everything that happened on the last few days! I mean, we've had to fight set, pave the way for a new generation of magician's and basically a munch more mind breaking stuff!'

He looked up to his sister, noticing tears pricking in her eyes as well

'we've had to learn how to do an entirely new branch of magic and save the world- something not even the strongest adult magicians could do!'

'DONT YOU THINK I KNOW THAT?!-' Carter let out, his frame shaking and his hands balling into fists. 'I don't know what to do anymore....how I'm supposed to lead...'

'How WE'RE supposed to lead, carter. You aren't alone in this, okay? You've got me, Amos, bast, heck, even khufu! Just....remember that, okay?"

She patted his back and handed him a tissue.

"Now quit hogging the hot water and hurry up! I need to take a bath!"
