Okay rereading tgcf now and the Xianle arc is genuinely making me frustrated for Qi Rong. He's terrible, obviously, but like. Xie Lian says it himself:

Like you've spent the past ??? years living in the wild, defending a bunch of people who don't even know you exist/hate you + occasionally doing the bidding of a wizard, but it's fine. And then your wizard is like 'I need you to take two hobbits to Rivendell'. It's actually four hobbits but alright. You stop them getting killed on a half dozen occasions. It's fine.

You get to Rivendell. Great. E-dog has the ring, but also that ring now needs to go to Mt Doom so it can get destroyed, so now you're heading out with The Wizard, the four hobbits, a guy who lowkey resents you for being king, a dwarf and Legolas (they won't stop bickering). You trek up a mountain pass that YOU DON'T EVEN END UP USING, but when that doesn't work out so you go through The Mines That Everyone Says Not To Go Through, MEET A BALROG (you left Elf McBalrog-Killer at home) and THE WIZARD who's supposed to be IN CHARGE DIES.

Okay so now you're in charge, but luckily you've got your old buddy Boromir to help with leadership and decision making-

You spend the next several days running trying to find these fucking hobbits, barely stop Gimli and Legolas (they're getting along now but at what cost) from starting a fight with the first people of Rohan you meet, who tell you the hobbits are probs dead.

And then you remember the wizard guy? The one who was supposed to be in charge?? The one who you thought was dead???

You carry the fuck on riding, lead your undead army to war, then jump on a ship to go fight in another battle, where your brother (separated for ??? years, only just saw again for less than a week) DIES.

AND THEN you (no sleep or food several days, your brother (separated for ??? years, only just saw again for less than a week) just died) have to go heal a bunch of people, but not like in official king capacity because the former steward was a bit crazy and tried to kill the current steward (barely alive) and you don't want to put anyone's hackles up

AND THEN it's time to lead ANOTHER army to war

You're also going to war with lowkey Satan and there's like 99.9% chance you'll die. You haven't slept in an actual bed since Rivendell. You have probably got 20 hours sleep cumulatively over the past 6 months. But it's fine.

You get back from war, spend the next few weeks healing people, and then you get to be king. Did I mention all of this happens in approximately one year???

ok look no matter what, i think ill always be obsessed with dl-6. i know, its kinda overused at this point, but the whole thing is so amazing

like,, miles obviously didn’t know he was innocent, but gregory didnt either. when they channeled him he said it was the bailiff (forgot his name srry) even though there was no proof, because he wanted to protect his son. and the result of a child convinced he is guilty for the death of his dad, who even after death tried to find a way to reassure him he was innocent??? just- the concept of this relationship is fascinating, and honestly has so much potential.

and then you add von karma, and the fact he was not only the murderer of the father but the adopter of the son??? just makes everything gets better (worse)

dl-6 will forever live in my head and in my heart bcs the overwhelming guilt at least two of the three must have felt!! (depends on your headcannons about manfred ofc, maybe he was slightly guilty or smth) the psychological impact and the aftermath of it? amazing. maybe its not perfectly written, nothing is, but its fascinating and makes me want to dissect all three’s brains to see the effects this would have caused.

I think my favorite part about Boba's daddy issues is the fact that they aren't your traditional flavor of daddy issues

Like on all accounts Jango loved him and did his best. Some of his methods are a little unorthodox but such is life when you're a war vet with PTSD that doesn't have a healthy coping mechanism besides having a son. No no no. Boba's daddy issues are that he simply is his father and he will never escape that shadow. (Well there's Din who just flat out doesn't know. But my point is there)

He is his father and he will never be the man his father was and isn't that the kicker. You know how Robert Irwin's life revolves around everybody and their mother feeling as though they need to include his father in the conversation whenever it pertains to him in the slightest?

Jango Fett was the blue print and Boba is simply his copy and I cannot imagine hearing about your dead father every time a fellow bounty hunter opened their mouth the second you stepped into a room. At least until Boba got fed up and pulled a blaster on the poor bastard and promptly shut him up for the moment.

And as fun as it is to imagine Jango in the aftermath shaking his head as his child inevitably falls down the very rabbit hole that got himself killed. But, that sentiment aside, I cannot imagine a moment Jango isn't proud of that boy and Boba simply cannot see that. Boba is in no way perfect and Jango was also the blue print for that, but Jango will be damned to feel ashamed of his kid for making the same mistakes under zero guidance. Jango's fucked up, and likewise his child is as well but that's his boy, his pride and joy.

And I don't think Boba's knows that. Most people didn't know his father. They knew Jango Fett the bounty hunter. They knew Jango Fett the Jedi killer. They knew a man, mostly ruthless, that hunted his prey with an expressionless face that waited until the right moment to strike.

And thats not to say that's all Jango was. But who was going to tell Boba that? That the man's hands were as gentle as they were calloused and that despite his dark unassuming eyes that dared one to speak against him, he was a family man at the end of the day and although all the family he had were long since dead he carried their remembrance with a guilt like no other and he loved his boy.

But a 10 year olds memory is a fickle thing. And when ones face is tilted towards the light it's so easy to be blinded by it.

Jango was never cruel, but his hands have left their stain no matter how many times he's washed them and when the only people left alive to speak your name are the hunters you gnashed teeth with and the child you left orphaned despite the promise that things would be different this time around it's too easy for the truth to fall between the cracks.

Because while Jaster would have beamed down at Boba with pride and Myles and Silas would have lifted that boy high above their heads and recounted tales upon tales of what trouble his father had dragged them along for, and Zam had brushed his fair back behind his ears and read him stories and left him books at his doorstep, Aurra Sing was not as kind.

And while she wretched alcohol away from too small hands she had just as easily belittled and abandoned him in the same breath. And while Hondo has described Jango as an honorable man, what good did that tell a boy who had been thrust into prison just a few hours later.

Because whether they'd told Boba his father was a too gentle bastard or a man that striked fear into the hearts of whoever heard his name, he was an unobtainable goal and Boba was a cheap imitation.

And while he rose against the ranks, and learned to strike fear into all who opposed him then learned to love above all else, there's not a soul alive to tell him that his father would be proud of the man he'd become.

And maybe at long last he can sleep at night, because what good is a dead man's approval anyway? But he will never know that at the end of the day, through the shadow and the haze of blurred vision Jango loved him above all else, everything else be damned.

Chapter 1/? -> Clashings

Summary -> The year is 2008, right at the tail end of the presidential elections. On November 7th, a blue-skied Wednesday, the brutalised body of a woman is discovered at 16:28 in the rotten alley of a run down bureau of Queens, beat to death by an unknown assailant.

Tony Stark catches wind of Spider-Man on the scene, which wouldn’t typically be that strange hadn’t Spider-Man been actively threatening the responding officers and refusing entry to the homicide scene — webbing their guns to the musty walls after one had raised their pistol at him.

Naturally, Tony forcibly involves himself in Spider-Man’s little crusade and finds more than he’s bargained for. Might as well get to know the kid while he’s at it.

Or, the fic where Tony’s repression breaks down, Peter gains an ally, and they learn how to live with their collaboration-turned-genuine-bond thing. They’ll get there, eventually.

Or, me finally writing the murder mystery fanfic I’ve wanted to write for so long and deciding to project my political anxieties onto Tony and Peter by having them play detective. Irondad!
