If you're still doing the ship opinions, what do you think of Egypt x Norway?

lol don't think I ever started doing ship opinions, it's just so happened that I tackled a lot of ship related asks after one another 😅 but always happy to contribute Norway related information regarding connections and relations to other nations! ✨

Can't say I've ever heard about Egypt and Norway as a ship before, so I'm starting all fresh with this one. Norway and Egypt don't really have a lot of relations with each other - most of the dealings between the two nations is regarding Norwegian ships and the Suez, as well as military collaborations, and some Norwegian companies have investments in Egypt. I won't say Egypt is a very popular tourist destination, but there are definitely Norwegians who go there on holiday. There's no major cultural links or other funfacts I can find about them in my very short time looking into this.

For me, I need a historical link or some other cultural bond to really enjoy ships, so I think I'll need a bit more convincing on this one ✨

"No." you replied simply, with no further explanation or motives as to why. 

Rúben looked actually taken aback by your answer, not being used to getting a ‘no’, not even from you. Though, he knew the only reason you'd said ‘no’ was to contradict him, and you, having no apparent reason to refuse, was an open invitation for Rúben to keep insisting. 

“Come on, it'll only be three days out.” Rúben insisted, using the nicest voice he could “Out there in the nice sea, with perfect weather, with food, drinks and a nice AC system... yeah? Plus - the boat has a double jacuzzi! Yeah?” he questioned you with a raised eyebrow, and at that, you shut your mouth. 

“I-”

“Uh huh, exactly.” 

“I can live without it!” 

“Oh, come on Y/N..” Rúben sighed heavily, closing his eyes for a few seconds, as if recharging his patience before adding “I'll give you whatever you want, whatever it is, I'll get it for you..after those three days. The only condition is - no sex on the boat."

That really got you thinking. 

“I can’t believe you. You sound really confident in yourself right now! Why do you think it is going to be me that is going to initiate something with you first? In no time at all, the five of you were out. Rúben told you it would take a couple of hours to reach the perfect spot and if everything went well the fun on the boat could start in the early hours of the next day. 

It didn't seem like a bad plan, so you saw no reason to complain, it seemed fair. And if it wasn't so many days together you could easily ignore him. 

Rúben had kept his word about the ship's commodities, there were all kinds of snacks, drinks, and he had brought other kinds of substances. Funny enough, the drawer where pans are kept is right where Rúben is, by his left hand, and sure as hell you wouldn't ask anything from him. Which left you with only one choice.

I feel like everyone under Roger's flag was, we'll say educated, and as such I can't see anyone from that crew being put off by menstruation.

i mean. it's gotta be the other doing dumb shit to protect/save the other, right? like... that is so quintessential rebelcaptain it's practically tradmarked by them. it's either a chronic fight or a singular, knock-down, drag-out fight that results in tears and/or screaming. they make up, of course, but it is a serious hurdle they have to overcome. which they do, eventually, but it's a long road. they would eventually agree that in order for them to be together, and watch each others' backs on missions, etc, they'd just have to 'agree to disagree' and also kind of lowkey shake on one thing: together or not at all.

other than that it's probably cassian fussing at jyn about putting her feet on the ship console or jyn grousing at cass about generally taking care of himself better... things like that. idiots. <3

jyn is absolutely the big spoon so jot that down. they're both just more comfortable that way anyway and besides, jyn revels in being cassian's one lone guard. (she's not, not really, but you know what i mean). he hasn't had that in a long time and she just kind of... assumes that duty pretty naturally. being the big spoon, the one between him and the door, makes her feel good. cassian never asks about it and jyn never says anything-- it's just right that way. (he will always offer to return the favor after a particularly rough day for her or when she's had a nightmare, of course).

I respond to every comment I get! I have a constant need for validation when it comes to everything, so knowing that people are actually enjoying my writing is a huge reason why I try to continue it. Plus, if I'm lucky, I might be able to get ideas off some of the readers and use them! That helps a lot.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

I currently don't have one, since the one I am doing is currently ongoing! Though, I do have it on good authority that it's already angsty and we're only 3 chapters in. Plus, there's more in store!

What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

Again, as I currently only have 1 work on AO3 currently I do not have any with endings. Not much I can do about that right now until I have the other works in progress done. I promise I will have one eventually, though! ♡⸜(˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝

Do you write crossovers?

I love the idea of crossovers and I am currently reading several myself (Though crossover would be the wrong word. More like just general AUs? I never used any of the established characters in these worlds, just the world itself). I would love to write one. I'm just not sure what the crossover AU would be other than Boku no Hero Academia. I think the closest I came to writing one was a Shizaya (Durarara!!!) fanfic I started using the world of The Hunger Games. It's unfinished and only a few chapters in. I'm not sure if I will ever post it. I also started a Victuuri (Yuri!! On Ice) fanfiction where they are Hogwarts students. I'm a few chapters into this one as well, but stopped because I didn't know where to take it from where I had left off.

I have not received hate, at least not publicly where I can see. To be fair, though, my work doesn't have a whole lot of traction on it last time I checked--granted that was a while ago.

Honestly, it feels like all of them! I get so caught up in my own head that sometimes I forget that I have all these WIPs that I need to continue or just ditch. I love them too much, though. (˚ ˃̣̣̥⌓˂̣̣̥ )

What are your writing strengths?

If it were my opinion I would probably say nothing. I personally hate my own writing as a whole.

If it were up to my friends, though, they would probably say the way I describe feelings and how they affect the body. Maybe even just how the characters think as well.

What are your writing weaknesses?

For me, it would probably be pacing? It feels like I am either too quick or too slow to get from one point to another, or even how long it takes for me to write a chapter on average. I tend to take forever due to my tendency to overthink everything, especially the small details.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I love the idea! I was working on a Yuri!! On Ice fanfiction where they were all going to Hogwarts, so the idea was to have dialogue in scattered throughout in everyone's native tongue. One of my friends actually lived in Japan for a while, so I was using her to help me with all the Japanese.

What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?

Probably SasaMiya (Sasaki and Miyano), if I'm being honest. I love how soft the entire series is as a whole, but due to how soft it is I find it hard to write for? I just love angst so much. I don't think I could put those soft bois through all that. (╥﹏╥)

What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

I guess it depends on the ship itself? For SKK it would probably be Nothing Comes as Easy as You, but for DRR it would be one of the unpublished works that I have going. The SKK one is probably the one I'm the most invested in right now, though.

Will I ever be able to watch the final season of Criminal Minds and continue with the show after that season 14 finale? Well, it's been years, and I honestly don't think I can, which sucks, 'cause I've been watching that show for so, so long and I wanted to see its conclusion. I mean, I assume they address the atrocious JJ "big confession." But they don't go anywhere with it, right? Please tell me they don't. I've managed to avoid spoilers for this long and honestly, I just don't want to know.

Do they even realize what they've done to the characters they've disrespected and ruined?

I just genuinely don't understand. If they had ever wanted to take Spencer and JJ that route, they'd had so many opportunities over the years to make it work believably.

For example, before she'd met Will, or even after, but maybe it didn't work out between them. They could've shown Reid jealous, or given any kind of indication that he still felt something romantic for her. Any indication that she'd felt something romantic for him, which JJ had never once shown, even when he had a crush on her.

But she fell in love with a wonderful man and got married and had kids. And you want to tell me she'd done all of that as a means of settling for second best because she was too "scared" to tell Spencer her feelings before? Why was she scared? Seriously, there's no reason for her to hide her feelings if she'd actually felt them. They didn't even give a proper reason for that supposed fear that made her start an entire life with someone else instead of just letting Spencer know how she felt. What was so fucking scary, writers? Why did she start an entire relationship/marriage if she was secretly in love with her best friend? Am I supposed to believe that JJ is that selfish, cruel, and dumb? They really fucking ruined her character in a way that's really hard to come back from.

This is a TV show, things have to be shown to the audience to understand a character's motives and actions. You can't just make a character say something after years of nothing, and tell us that was how they'd felt all along. The audacity to even imply that it was some kind of a slow-burn love story.

Have you ever watched or read a slow-burn story before? JJ and Reid did not have a slow-burn arc, in any way. Shape or form. We'd had nothing to show or indicate that for 14 seasons.

And I know that some people think their scenes were a bit more insinuating and hinting at something in later seasons. And you know what, yes, I can honestly pinpoint the moment the writers were like, we need to add a few more hugs to their scenes in case we decide to make them suddenly fall in love. And that was when Reid was in prison. They had given them a lot more scenes together where they hugged and touched a lot. But we, the viewers, had no reason to read into it because at that point we completely believed their best friends/siblings' relationship that had been going on all that time. It had been 12 seasons at that point. She's in a loving marriage with kids! Oh, and then after that, they decided to wait two more seasons to, you know, ruin their characters.

And giving them more hugging scenes does not warrant the potential of something romantic. Friends hug each other. Especially, JJ and Reid, actually. So I think the writers were just lazy, or just wanted to do something shocking for ratings or whatever. If they'd wanted to go for it from the start, they would've shown way, way more from the characters to convey hidden/secret romantic feelings and mutual pining over the years.

What a waste of a beautiful and pure friendship. They honestly went and threw 14 seasons' worth of character development, moments, and awesome dynamic down the drain.

I know that some people ship it, and that's fine, of course. But personally, I don't think I'll ever forgive it. This kind of reminds me of how I met your mother a little bit, only this is way worse. Because at the very least, Ted and Robin were together at some point, and you know, actually had romantic moments throughout the show. But Criminal Minds had no grounds to stand on, in my opinion.

Juuuuup. Love it. I think most of my fics are rated explicit. I had a phase in which I mostly wrote pwps, trying my hand on more comedy and romance but I feel like writing smut might be my calling 😂

Smut, I think? And a few people told me I'm good at vivid descriptions.

Like Clipped Petunias (destiel). This is my darkest fic. I've had people telling me they had PTSD from it. The end is really angsty and horrifying. It was not supposed to end this way, but this is where the story took me. In the end, I think it fits.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Grace my Soul (destiel) comes to mind. Baby Jimmy is such a delight and the last chapter of that fic is my favorite one.

Do you get hate on fics?

I don't remember ever getting any. I did have a few problems with people stealing my stories or posting them elsewhere. In the past, I also had a few stalkers/stans sending messages that creeped me out (especially for my french fics).

Do you write smut?

Yes! I didn't used to for Teen Wolf, but I've realized that fic with a higher rating tends to get more views (which I get because I rarely read pg13 or under myself), so I started writing it. I both love and hate writing those parts. It always feels kind of awkward to share those imageries, I'm never sure what words to use or how far I should go.

Craziest crossover?

I have a WIP that was a Psych/Teen Wolf crossover.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yes. More than once. I've had a few cases of people putting their own name on my stories, but mostly people repost it without my consent on other websites such as wattpad. Ao3 is the only place I post, so if you see one of my story elsewhere, it's been stolen. Please warn me if you do.

Yes! It's such an amazing thing to think about! I have had translations in spanish, russian and chinese.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Once or twice. To be honest, I think I'm too OCD for it to work, I want it exactly as I want it lol. Help from betareaders is precious though, sometimes they write a couple paragraphs for me, or help me reformulate some things better, or just brainstorm the stoyline with me and give me brillant ideas. Fics are always better with some help.

What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Frozen Inside (sterek) is the only WIP I've ever posted. I feel terribly guilty about it because it's been more than half a decade now and people are still asking me for a sequel. Sometimes I read it over and try, but it's just...done. Thankfully, the last chapter could be taken as a end. Kind of. God, I feel awful and I'm so sorry.

What are your writing strengths?

Hyperfocus. My best stories come out that way. I'll write fifty thousand words in two days or not at all. Sadly, I can't control it. Inspiration also tend to come at the exact moment I can't possibly write, which is sooo frustrating.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Description and world building. I tend to focus too much on the action and dialogues, but forget to tell about where they are and when. I let readers fill the blank way too often, which is something I really need to work on. I've been trying to rewrite some of my fics into original stories and that made it very obvious to me.

Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

It depends. Sometimes the translation is in the end note and it can put me out of the story, especially if it's an important part of the dialogue. If it's just a few words or if it's done in a way you understand it anyway, it can be beautiful!

First fandom you ever wrote in? Stargate SG1.

Favorite fic you've written?

The Guy Next Door (destiel), I think. I laughed, I cried, I squealed, I facepalmed. I must have looked like a maniac writing that story. Castiel was very fun to write for that one. Dean...I wanted to slap Dean so many times while I wrote. I had no control over him, I swear, he kept on being an idiot and made me scream at my screen.

I was surprised earlier, that this fic is not in the top five stories because it's one of my personal favorite.

I've only posted one real smut fic, Sword Master (unless you count the smut-adjacent bits of Customer Service too) but tbh I'm not sure I'll post more in the future. Maybe one or two Burn Like Cold Iron extras when that fic is finally done, but otherwise I probably won't go above an M rating again. You know how people tend to look hotter in lingerie than fully nude? That's usually my take on smut XD the scene turns out hotter if I leave a bit to the imagination lol

What's your all-time favorite ship? Eowyn/Faramir, but outside of Tolkien maybe Jaime/Brienne from ASOIAF

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will? I do my best not to post anything I'm not confident I can finish!

What are your writing strengths? I'm terrible at complimenting myself but I'm trying to be better- let's see I think I'm getting better at dialogue, particularly capturing different characters' voices. I think I can infuse dry humor into my fics pretty well too (although sometimes this happens by accident, rendering a dramatic scene goofy)

What are your writing weaknesses? I'm slow as hell. I cannot focus for the life of me. BUT I'm getting my hands on some adderall so hopefully that will help in the future XD

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? I think my favorite method in fics is when writers don't translate the other language, or at least not directly, and let the other characters and setting reveal the words' meaning through context. Personally I try to avoid it entirely, just because I don't know any words in Tolkien's languages lol

What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to? I'm such a slow writer that I want to stick to LOTR for now, but someday I might snap and write something for BG3 lol (there's no regency AU fics for Wyll?? Are you kidding me?? I'm going to commit murder)

What's your favorite fic you've written? Burn Like Cold Iron is always my (predictable) answer, but among my less popular fics, Chicken Soup for the Soul is an old favorite, as well as Something Burrowed, Something Blue.

Hi there, anon! Thank you so much for reading my stuff. I hope I post soon too LMAO, life can be busy sometimes but hopefully I'll be able to find time to write more in the upcoming weeks. I'm glad you're enjoying my fics so far :)

Man, your question is really hard to answer, though - asking a writer to pick their favorite pieces is like asking a parent to choose a favorite child. That said, I never claimed to be a good fic-parent, so ofc I have my faves. If someone, for whatever reason, could only read five of my fics, the ones I would recommend are:

1. Metro Lines and Their Prismatic Tears - 10,000 words, Rated T, minor background ships, Peyz-centric

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I think Metro Lines is my best-written fic so far. I also think it's unique in that none of my other fics really capture what it does - like if I wanted to include a GuKe fic on my list I would have a handful to choose from, but this fic is truly one-of-a-kind. I like the AU, I like the characterizations, and overall I'm really proud of my work on this fic.

2. Mad Scientist Incorrigible - 30,000 words, Rated E for lots of sex, multi-ship (Lehends x Everyone) but RuLehends-focused, Lehends-centric

Even though I think Metro Lines is better-written, I still see M.S.I. as my magnum opus and likely the coolest fic I'll ever write. Writing this fic as the tournament was going on was such a fun experience and I'm still shocked that it all came together so well narratively. I really enjoy all the drama of the piece and I think no list of ArchiveofOurOner fics would be complete without it.

I think those two very cleanly take the top spots on my list. From here on out, things get a little more debatable, but for number 3, I'll add the one other fic that I've referred to as "my favorite one" before:

3. The Man Who Talked Shit About Choi Wooje - 4,000 words, Rated T/M for violence, One2eus, shifting POV

I love this fic because it defines "crack treated seriously". Every part of it is just so ridiculous and it was super fun to write. I think part of why I consider it one of my favorites is because I had such a blast writing it, but it also shows a different tone of fic than the other two, so I think it's a good inclusion. I also sorely need to include more of my T1 boys on this list, which brings me to my next entry:

4. Facecheck - 14,000 words, Rated E for some smut, One2eus with background GuKe, Zeus-centric

As my first and most popular fic, I feel like Facecheck is another requirement for the AO3 Oner list. That's not to suggest that I don't love it - I do, but I definitely think that I've grown in my writing since then. It would still be a good include to show that growth, plus it's a fun read even if I personally consider it to be more middle-of-the-pack in terms of my work quality.

For the final slot... damn, okay, this is actually really hard. See, if the question was simply which other of my fics do I like the most, then I'd probably go with 04.11.2023, but that feels way too similar to Mad Scientist Incorrigible (since it's literally just an extension of that fic). I would also consider including my Spider-Oner AU, Strand By Silken Strand, which I'm quite proud/fond of, but let's be real - I haven't included any CanMaker on the list yet and that's a complete sin. So, with that in mind:

5. Flash-Ult - 2,000 words, Rated T, CanMaker, Canyon-centric

It was a really close call between this and Heartbreaker, but I think Flash-Ult won out for me primarily because it's much sweeter and a good deal less angsty (though there is still a bit of angst at the end). All in all, Flash-Ult is a classic, feel-good hurt/comfort fic that I think suits my dynamic of CanMaker very well and is therefore a good representation of how I write the ship. I think between M.S.I. and Facecheck, there's already enough smut on the list, but if I were to include a CanMaker smut fic instead... maybe Unleashed Power, tbh? Ig that would also allow for a taste of my Omegaverse AU...

But yeah, that's my list of 5, plus a few bonus ones tossed around in between. They aren't my best fics, they certainly aren't my most popular fics, but I think they make up the best representation of my total LoL RPF corpus so far. If someone could only read a small portion of my writing, then I think this selection would give them a pretty good taste of what my fics are like. Hopefully, they'd enjoy them as much as you have, anon!

twilight (stargate atlantis, sheppard/weir, what if john didn't break the cycle). strong on style but real weak on comfort.

weaving loose ends (stargate sg-1, sam/jack) ends with a wedding! in twenty years of writing romance fic, that has maybe only happened once?

8. Do you get hate on fics?

not yet! but the year is young.

a fic of mine did cause a dramatic fandom schism once, in the dancing with the stars fandom no less. a splinter fan group created in exile! a mod claiming to be personal friends with the stars! everybody storming out and then blocking each other! so my fic did cause hate, but somehow i personally escaped unscathed. i didn't even get blocked. (lesson: in some spaces, rpf is encouraged until They Fuck. second lesson: if you start a fire and then stay very quiet, everyone forgets about you.)

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

i do!! i guess!! but i'm struggling with it right now and it's giving me a complex. and "what kind" is like......... vanilla het fic for the most part tbh. gauzy curtain vibes, even. basically, i have to really sit and think about whether to rate something M or E, you know?

realistically, i'm feeling pretty down on the chances that i'll ever finish ANY wip that's longer than 20k, but the two long ones withering on the vine that i'd like to finish are a sam/jack sg1 episodic soulmate fic and "what if janeway went undercover with the maquis instead of tuvok: the novel."

16. What are your writing strengths?

stealing one of geneeste's answers because "character complexity" is a good one! i don't feel satisfied with any fic unless i feel like i have learned something new about a character, or highlighted it in a new way.

my more specific strength, according to @coraclavia, is missing-scene fics that weave through an entire series canon to make a thesis statement (they are In Love).

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

😭 i can't write anything long 😭 i really wish i were different 😭 i envy those of you with staying power who can return to a story after going to work or writing something else and keep plugging away at it. i used to write sprawling things when i was a teen, but since becoming Adult With Job now many years ago, i've totally lost that skill!!

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

haaaahahahaha. talk about a weakness. i literally couldn't bring myself to write a fic that required dialogue in Ancient from stargate, a language that -- i cannot stress this enough -- is not even real. i'm like "well maybe i'll study latin for three years and then analyze all the episodes where they speak it to reverse engineer the differences so i can write the bastardized space latin correctly" GIRL WHY. JUST FUCK IT UP.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

first completed story that i recall would have been star trek voyager in my early teens, and by the grace of rural internet and some kind of prescient sense of self-preservation, it does not live online. first internet-published fic was several years later, for the x-files. for better or worse, that one can still be found.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

i think pieces (stargate atlantis, sheppard/weir, catharsis through sex pollen) might be the new best, and i had a lot of fun writing erasers on pencils (stargate sg-1, clone!sam/jack, catharsis through truancy).

And another thing!

The people bitching, pissing, and moaning about normality ("stop normalizing [XYZ trope] in fiction" "is anyone normal about this?" "stop being weird about [character/ship] please be normal I'm literally begging you") are usually the least normal people in fandom.

If they were as normal as they'd like to believe they are/want others to believe they are, they wouldn't be trying to police what people are allowed to create, and control what others still are allowed to like. Because different people will have different tastes - that's a feature, not a bug! What a concept!

If they were normal, they'd understand the difference between fiction and reality. That, while fiction can affect reality, fiction is not the same as reality. I wish a simple hug and some kind words could cure my depression, one round of exposure could alleviate my anxiety, and instead of getting my driver's licence I could register to ride a fucking dragon instead. Unfortunately, that's not how the world works. At all. Sad :(

If they were normal, they'd know they're the weird ones for trying to impose their views onto others, viewing their harm as help. They're not "saving" another person from the clutches of proshipping, but indoctrinating them into a cult of control, anxiety, stress, and paranoia that will eat its own if given the slightest whiff of opportunity. Because the war never ends. There will always be something, no matter how small, to incite throwing that first stone. Some people just wanna be mad and feel they're right for it and doing right by it, and they don't care who it harms until it happens to them. Only then is it injustice and wrong and bad. Wild.

If they were normal, they'd know there's no wrong way to fandom when you mind your own business. For example: I'm a sex-repulsed asexual who doesn't like smut, so I don't read it. I don't look for it. I hide the E and NR ratings on AO3 so I never have to see them ever again for all eternity forever. No more smut for me! And I didn't have to yell at anyone to get it out of my results, it was all me! I did that! People are still going to write it regardless of what I think about it, but I'll never know. And we're both happier for it!! Amazing!!!

If they were normal, they'd take the initiative to block the people and tags for the things they don't want to see rather than screeching at others "if u don't like it bLOcK mE!!!!!1!" Do it yourself you lazy little shit! Why is the onus on the person who doesn't have a problem to do the work? You're the one with the issue, do it yourdamnself. Be normal about it.

1. How many works do you have on AO3? Thirteen at the moment (not counting an Adar headcanon collection), but likely to be more soon.

2. What's your total AO3 word count? 170,865 (not bad for a year and a quarter)

3. What fandoms do you write for? Tolkien broadly (so far it's been Rings of Power, The Silmarillion, and The Hobbit - no LotR yet, but I do have an idea for one)

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? Click with caution, all of these but the second one are rated E; apparently, I am mostly known for Adar smut: Scars of Silver and Gold, Because the world is ending, Mistletoe Mischief, Calendar Girl, Until the Stars Burn Out

5. Do you respond to comments? Might take me a bit, but yes, I always do. I figure that someone gave me a little of their time in writing out a comment and I can give them some of mine in return. It's especially fun when people are predicting things; I love hearing what they think will happen.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Mmmm. I think it's probably Scars? Without spoilers, my protagonist lost something very important to her and although there's a lot of good things about that ending - she's still going to have that loss to grieve in the next fic and it'll inform her next arc. I'd say it's still a bittersweet ending.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I don't really do purely happy endings? I write a lot of hopeful endings, but most of them have some darkness lurking under them. I guess if I have to pick one, it's into the wild because that's technically a fix-it fic with Nienor getting saved by Mablung. Although, I might continue it some day, and it would inevitably get some Nienna-the-Song-is-tinted-with-grief flavoring.

8. Do you get hate on fics? Not so far.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Uh, yes. I'm not sure what "what kind" means here? I guess I've written a variety- from kind of dreamlike and romantic to fics featuring BDSM-related kinks.

10. Do you write crossovers? I have never written one. I think that I'd probably never directly write one. But I might do something like shove Elrond into the plot of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight for a bisexual awakening set sometime in the Second Age. Not sure if that's a crossover or just a retelling though.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I'm aware of.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes. Into Russian, if I remember correctly. It was a long time ago and I'm not in that fandom anymore.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yeah, I'd say my THAUC piece counts as co-written in the sense that my artist partner and I talked through the main ideas and beats of the story together.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship? Uhhh for Tolkien, I'm afraid I don't have one (I like a lot of ships, but there's not one all-consuming one). So - I guess I pick Sesshomaru/Kagome from Inuyasha? That's the pairing I read when I don't know what else to read.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I don't start a lot of WIPs. I have a lot more ideas for fics than I have documents or text written, but I do have a Finrod piece that I'm not sure I'll ever finish. I have a lingering idea that might save it, but I think that needs more time in the oven.

16. What are your writing strengths? Mmm - I think worldbuilding, specifically for culture is one of my strengths. I also think that I have a pretty good ability to make OCs that people care about (something that was important with a mostly OC cast).

17. What are your writing weaknesses? I struggle with internality a lot. I find thoughts cumbersome to write, because I process most things by talking them out or writing them down. I also think I could tighten up the cast of characters and subplots. It's something I'll definitely be careful with in novels going forward.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? It really depends on the fic. In Tolkien's world, I think so much of culture is tied up in language that it's a little hard not to include some bits and snatches of other languages. It's important to provide translations in text, I think, but otherwise, go for it if it's important to your characters and your plot.

19. First fandom you wrote for? Alas, I don't talk about that fandom anymore. The author turned out to be terrible.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written? Definitely Scars of Silver and Gold. It's my first completed longfic and I'm very proud of it, honestly. Are there some things I'd do differently? Yes. But I do love it. Honorable mention to peaches we devour, dusty skin and all. The YEARNING.

I try to! I love engaging with my readers and other members of the fandom. Every comment always makes my whole day. Life gets busy sometimes, so I don't always have the time to respond to every single one, but I definitely see and appreciate all of them!

5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Usually my fics have fairly hopeful endings, but "3 Years Ago," a pre-canon Murdered: Soul Suspect fic might fit the bill. Sometime in the future, it has the potential to be topped by "Will of the People," a Fallout 4 WIP that revolves around the Diamond City anti-ghoul riots.

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

My Secret Santa fics, "It's Not the Fall" and "Flawed Phials," definitely have the fluffiest endings!

7. Do you write crossovers?

Nope!

8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?

I get rude or condescending comments on occasion from people who don't know how to hit the back button and/or are unfamiliar with fandom etiquette, though nothing actively malicious. The one time I received a transphobic/homophobic message in response to TMW it was private (if it was public, I would have deleted it; I don't give a platform to that kind of thing at all), and honestly I hope that person is in a better place now because they really didn't seem okay at the time. I'm fortunate that the vast majority of my readers and mutuals are such wonderfully amazing and kind people.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yes, BUT, before you get too excited, not in The Mad Witch. Smut is by definition graphic, and TMW has a Teen rating that shall remain unchanged.

The smut scenes I've drafted so far (F/F and F/M) are for my Rosemary Reaper series (post-canon Fallout 4 WIP). Those fics will all be rated Mature, so while not overly explicit, they'll definitely be spicier than TMW. Maybe I'll share a snippet sometime if there's any demand for it.

10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of?? I have long since deleted my Wattpad account, so my fics should only be on AO3. If anyone ever finds one of my fics elsewhere in the wild, please let me know.

11. Have you ever had a fic translated?

I have not, which is probably for the best. I would like to make some heavy edits to the beginning of TMW when I'm done with it.

12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Not a fic, though I have co-written a short fantasy story with a friend, with him writing for one POV character and me for another. We agreed on major actions and story beats, but we each kept a major secret that we didn't reveal until after we had written our individual parts. It was a lot of fun (though we were both painfully unskilled at the time).

13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?

I don't know if I really have one. I have ships I enjoy and characters I like to pair with OCs, though nothing I feel properly obsessive over. This might be a consequence of primarily writing for video game fandoms. But I do have my default game romances: Merula in HPHM, Piper in Fallout 4, Marcurio in Skyrim, etc. I'm also a sucker for unrequited love interests, like Serana in Skyrim and Aveline in Dragon Age 2. The ANGST.

14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

I never want to say never because I'm currently 83,435 words into the last fic I said I would never write. But there are two fics that I'm almost certain I will never finish, which I'm kind of sad about: my post-canon Murdered: Soul Suspect longfic, A Certain Darkness, and my RWBY OC team longfic, DSRT.

I made it just shy of 200,000 words into A Certain Darkness before I had to drop it. My writing skills ended up surpassing the progress I had made, and by the time I realized how many characters, relationships, and plot points were just straight up bad, I had written myself into a corner. I do love Joy and Angel so much, a medium/ghost duo with way more homoerotic tension than my closeted teenage self ever intended. Maybe one day I'll gut the story, drop the characters into a different setting, and make it something original. One day.

DSRT ran into a similar problem, though fortunately I only ever wrote the first few chapters. I could probably reattempt it if I really wanted, but with the overwhelming number of WIPs I already have, it's hard to imagine finding the time. I do miss my team of teenage idiots: Dustin, Saul, Rosemary, and Talos. It was supposed to have a really tragic ending too, which I don't often get to write.

15. What are your writing strengths?

I often receive compliments on how human I make my characters feel, which is the highest honor anyone could give. I've been told my dialogue frequently flows smoothly too.

17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

Do it carefully and with necessity. Maybe a character is bilingual and blends languages, so it's part of their characterization. Maybe a password or spell needs to be said in another language because it's old or pretentious. It can work, but it can also be easy to mess up. I personally avoid writing dialogue in languages I don't have a good grasp of, or I try to consult other people if I do (not Google Translate, which sucks).

There's also the matter of if the POV character even understands the language being spoken. If they don't, then I don't write the language out (unless it's a phrase the character is going to learn later on). In these instances, it makes more sense to write something like, "The man muttered a phrase in a language she didn't recognize," or "She fired off something in Spanish, the words too quick to catch."

18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Star Wars the Clone Wars, baby! I was like ten or eleven. Never published, but my worldbuilding for that longfic (a saga, more like) was insanely elaborate. Alas, another story for the WIP graveyard.

19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?

Eventually, I want to get back to my Skyrim WIP, which includes a main Dragonborn/Marcurio ship. Maybe even with a little Dragonborn/Serana infidelity on the side (which Marcurio absolutely does not deserve, the poor guy).

20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

I mean, I have to say The Mad Witch, don't I? That fic is where my community is, where every time I post a chapter I have a ton of people who get excited about it with me. It is the story I think about constantly, that I have spent literal years writing and daydreaming about. No matter what I've written before or will write since, this will be the defining fic in my journey as a writer.

That, and I have a special fondness for "Case by Case." I just think it's neat.

Unpopular opinion: This is gonna be a little mean but I gotta get it out, so fair warning for being a bit negative.

Despite the amount of fanart it gets, the DN fandom does not care abt Rem/Misa beyond superficial/aesthetic reasons or using the ship as a tool to write Misa out of the story. I rarely ever see DN fans actually analyze the ship, their dynamic or how they would interract as a couple in any amount of actual depth.

Fanon!Rem/Misa also has no chemistry bc Rem is a non-character that most writers use as a tool for Misa's development (which is nearly always used as a tool to write Misa out of a L/Light story) rather than an actual person with her own complex thoughts and feelings.

I'd honestly prefer the fandom just admitted they don't care abt femslash DN ships instead of pretending they do. If I see one more person superficially say "Misa should have left Light's ungrateful ass and ended up with her monster gf!!" I might actually lose it.

Hmm! I will go with an agree/neutral on this one, maybe? I don't think my feelings on it are quite as strong as yours, nor do I think EVERYONE is only shipping Remisa or caring about DN femslash in a fake way (I know of a few people who have strong genuine feelings about Remisa and have made pretty thoughtful in-depth fan stuff about Rem and Misa before). However I do agree that sometimes fans do just want to try to write Misa out of things because she's "getting in the way" of Lawlight or annoying them or depressing them with her one-sided obsession over Light, so try to find her another character who actually has feelings for her to pair off with, and Rem is obviously the one in canon most devoted to her.

I wonder too if maybe Remisa is primarily explored through fanart and aesthetics because that's kind of the best part of the ship in some ways (I feel like the look of them together and the idea of the ship is a lot more compelling to me sometimes than how they actually interact with each other in canon, haha). I'm not personally that into Remisa because I find Rem boring/frustratingly written for all the reasons you stated, and I think I'd feel exactly the same way about it if it was a mlm ship, so I don't know if it's 100% just because it's wlw that people don't care about it as much as some of the mlm ships in the series, either.

Mostly I think fans should just ship the stuff they're actually interested in and explore the characters they want to explore and not try to force it... not sure I'd conclude that all DN fans are faking their interest in wlw ships and Remisa, but I do agree that sometimes people seem to ship Remisa just to "get Misa out of the way." And it doesn't really seem like the answer to all of Misa's problems to me just to get her together with Rem instead of Light, either

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Most actively at this exact moment, kpop rpf (ATEEZ and SHINee), but all but one thing in this category is a WIP I haven't posted yet. But I also have a Devil Judge AU I *really* want to write, if my writing brain picks back up properly.

4. Top five fics by kudos

This is hilariously skewed to Teen Wolf just by virtue of the size of the fandom, I don't actually think these are the fics I'm most known for, but:

Probably "In Love with Ghosts," a character study about Lan Xichen and Song Lan have to deal with being left behind in the world of the living

I write so much fluff, I'm sure this is very subjective, but I think the one that makes *me* the happiest is the 2-part Petopher series Silver & Gold, because the middle-aged second-chance romance of them finally getting everything they've ever wanted was written to cater exactly to me.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

No, but I do have a hilarious bookmark saying one of my rare M-rated fics should be a G (????)

9. Do you write smut?

Related to the above answer, not really. I collab for smut very happily, but I spent several years in my irl career copy editing for a self-published romance writer who was very prolific but not great at keeping characterization consistent in sex scenes and it kind of burned me out on thinking through such scenarios for my own hobby purposes. That said, I do keep writing things that toe closer and closer to the line, so. Perhaps I am recovering from the trauma.

10. Craziest crossover?

Uh, I'm pretty sure that would be the Kent Parson/Derek Hale thing I wrote here as penance for being a vector of cross-fandom Derek confusion, but I don't think that ever got moved over to AO3. The funniest AU that's almost but not quite a crossover was the Wenzhou AU ("Persistence Pays Off") I wrote that started from the premise of Senpai, Don't You Know?, which is a niche enough reference that I'm probably the only one who understands how hilarious the mismatch is.

I really want to finish Bull City Blues, but my brain started avoiding working on it hardcore because it was bringing up all my own bad grad school experiences, so I'm stuck here with most of the end written but not the ability to push through the middle, and I deeply apologize for that. I keep hoping I'll come up with a way around it, just so I can post the end, finally.

Dialogue (where I mentally always start) and descriptions of specific imagery (because I see scenes like movies in my head)

Plot. (Longfic who? I don't know her.)

18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

It's fine? If I ever wrote a long enough passage in not-English that it wasn't apparent from context, I'd have the translation in footnotes/hovertext, but it hasn't come up yet. Since so many of the fandoms I've written in recently have been non-English, I do sometimes have the dialogue in my head running in two languages simultaneously, but I tend to just write it all in English for ease of reading.
