ok so I don't mind most of the mischaracterization in Gatsby Broadway because I can understand why they did it and how it helps the story that they are trying to tell, even if I don't agree with it. But I really, really don't like what they did to Catherine and the Mckees (and Nick but that's through the whole show) in The Met.

(to clarify, I have only listened to the cast recordings of Gatsby Broadway! I don’t know any of the acting in between songs or anything they are doing on stage because I have only listened)

This ended up being longer than I expected so I put it below the cut :D

The biggest problem for me is that The Met characterizes Catherine and the Mckees like they are evil lustful people set out to corrupt pure and innocent Nick. In the song, Nick sets up a predator-prey relationship with them, even calling Mr. Mckee a vulture. It sets up this divide between Nick, who is our protagonist and Can Do No Wrong, and the people who side with the antagonist that the show makes Tom. It is implied that Nick gets drunk unwillingly, is flirted with by ALL party members unwillingly, and is "on top of" Catherine while being photographed by Mr. Mckee unwillingly. He does not want to be there with these people that his precious pure midwestern morals call "wrong" in any way, shape, or form.

This is not only not supported in the original, but also is a gross way to treat these characters--especially since Mr. Mckee is often read as queer, and his interactions with Nick add to Nick's own queerness. The song itself states that Mr. and Mrs. Mckee have a consensual open relationship in the setting of the show, but it is painted as something that adds to their immoral status. In the year 2024 we are portraying two consenting adults as evil for communicating and agreeing to have an open relationship? Ok yeah sure, if you say so. Mr. Mckee's, and by extension Nick's, queerness is not openly stated in The Met, although some lines can be read as innuendos or implications to this ("[Mr. Mckee, to Nick or Tom] I'd love to do more work on long island, if I could gain entry" "[Mr. Mckee, to Nick] I want to capture your musk" "[Nick, about the party] everyone is flirting now / and they're all coming on too strong"). Again, I haven’t seen what is happening on stage so I can't speak to that or how it effects these lines. Something about turning a character often read as queer into a "vulture" trying to take advantage of Nick (who, according to some reviews, was stripped of most of his queerness) just doesn't sit very well with me.

Changing the nature of the appartment party is not a very new thing, so I wanted to take a moment to discuss what actually happens in the original that contradicts Broadway Gatsby's portrayal. Nick is drinking, and describes getting drunk that evening, before Catherine and the Mckees even arrived to the apartment. When they arrive the conversation is pleasant and not all that harsh, mostly covering Mr. Mckee's photography (which he HAS done on Long Island, though he tells Tom he would've to do more work there who suggests Myrtle sets him up to photograph Wilson) and Mrytle's dress. The only possible implication that Nick is uncomfortable is the fact that he mentions wanting to leave to take a walk but is stopped as he is drawn back into "some wild strident argument" every time. The text does not elaborate much on the nature of this, so I don't know if that was in an effort to trap him there or just Nick getting trapped by social convention as they continued to talk to him. Nick also has no explicitly stated romantic, sexual, or even physical interactions with Catherine--most of their time interacting was Catherine explaining to Nick that Tom and Mrytle both hate who they're married to. Finally, after Tom breaks Mrytle's nose, Nick leaves the party with Mr. Mckee completely of his own (albeit heavily intoxicated) volition.

All in all, I understand why these changes are often made to the appartment party, and specifically the purpose The Met in the show. The Met is what changes Nick's mind about helping Gatsby meet Daisy. The party is used to give a reason to why Nick chooses to help Gatsby because most modern audiences don't want to root for a character who helps his cousin cheat on her husband for no good reason. The audience wants to relate to Nick--which means that they want him to be a fundamentally good person. And therefore we must see that Tom is bad and awful so that we can be ok with Daisy leaving him for Good and Awesome Gatsby. The problem with The Met is that all of that could still happen without villianizing Catherine and the Mckees. Tom is still an asshole apart from their behavior--he still breaks Mrytle's nose for mentioning Daisy and is, you know, cheating on his wife. Nick's decision to organize tea with Daisy in Gatsby Broadway is based mostly on the way Tom treats Mrytle and Nick himself at the party, not particularly on how the other guests behaved. The Met could have come to the exact same conclusion without portraying Catherine and the Mckees as people trying to corrupt Nick's purity and moral standing, and I think that is what makes it so uncomfortable and off-putting for me.

Sebastian loves you with all his heart. he couldn't bear the thought of you getting hurt or worse

every time you leave the castle, please send him an owl. it lets him know where you're going and it tells him you're safe.

he's worried sick if you come back with even the slightest scratch.

"Merlin's beard! darling, are you alright? are you hurt anywhere? do you want me to kiss it better???" he says as you come into the undercroft with one scratch on your face LOLL

it's all fun and games until someone hurts you. let's say you're on a quest together, somewhere in a cave and you two get ambushed. it would probably go like this:

"Diffindo!" an Ashwinder threw out the spell in your direction, hitting your abdomen and leaving a large gash in its wake. Sebastian yelped, not having noticed your state, and threw a quick "arresto momentum!" in the enemy's way to stall their time. "merlin! are you alright-" Sebastian stopped all movement when he saw you- you were hunched over in pain, groaning as you tried to stop the bleeding coming from the gash on your side. At that moment, he felt nothing but pure and unbridled rage. "you BASTARD!" Sebastian turned to the Ashwinder, (who was quite literally about to cast Avada kedavra on him) and cast crucio. nobody touches his girlfriend.

that's definitely one of his red flags.. he has anger issues, and won't hesitate to hurt someone if they hurt you. it's kinda endearing though

speaking of red flags- I'm not gonna ignore them? we all love him but he does have negative traits that will show through in y'alls relationship.

He's overly possessive and gets super upset when another boy tries to flirt with you. if you don't say something to the guy- sebastian will; and i dont think you want that.

he's not very in-touch with his emotions. he has a hard time expressing his feelings because of a) his insecurities and b) his ego.

but on a more positive note, you help him through these things!

meeting ominis and becoming friends with him gave you the opportunity to ask another person about sebastians troubles, and you can confide in him for advice when you need it!

you're sebastian's sunshine- quite literally. you help him through his tough times, and on a regular day, you brighten his mood imensely.

ON TO THE CUTER RELATIONSHIP STUFF!!!

if he's tired he becomes 100% more affectionate- which means cuddles in the undercroft, his head on your shoulder in class, a hand on your under the table at dinner, etc.

Sebastian isn't the brightest, but if he has a class with you, he'll listen to anything you have to say.

he adores your smarts- whether or not you're actually smart is up to you, but it's not like he'll care. you could be the dumbest mf in the world and he'll still be proud of you!

he's your cheerleader! in crossed wands, the broom race against imelda, summoner's court, even an arm wrestling contest, he's there to cheer you on

it's because he never had someone to do that for him- losing his parents at such a young age, he didnt have cheerleaders to be proud of him through his achievments, so he does it for you!

little picnics in the vivarium are his favorite. he loves the feeling of laying of the grass and cloudgazing with you.

I just wanted to say, thank you and the other fans from this part of the GoW fandom.

In a place full of trolls and gamerbros who turn characters that they deem annoying into irredeemable, useless bitches (Freya, Angrboða) and characters they do like are reduced to either prize for someone (Thrúd, Sif and somehow, Freya again) or into their masculinity idol (Kratos, whom they only accept as the testosterone caricature godkiller and his development seen as creators turning him soft. This claim is at it's peak with Ragnarok, but it was there back in 2018 such as wanting Kratos to beat or even kill Atreus for "acting like a brat". What a horrible mindset!) - It's nice to have a side with people who are welcoming, creative and genuinely fun to interact with.

Your analyses - both fandom and in-game inputs - are a delight to read. They're beautifuly written, intelligent and well formulared, I always feel smarter after reading them.

Apologies if you prefer to discuss this in DMs, I wanted others to read this too.

Thank you so much for this message, this kind of feedback truly makes existing in this - and, admittedly, other fandoms - worth it. Your summary of my ramblings genuinely took me by surprise as I haven't been "conventionally" active in the fandom intentionally due to negative past experiences with other fandoms. Those occasional inputs I do come up with are mainly hastily written bursts in broken English.

I don't make a secret out of the fact that in my experience all fandoms, definitely not just Gow(R), are toxic to varying degrees due to trolls employing the very same tactic everywhere they go. For one, it's creating the illusion of dominance of their opinion in terms of quantity (as they have no arguments to back up their stance other than canon twisting nonsense they clearly realize that "quality" is not their strong suit). To attain that, they resort to a number of other tactics typically used by abusers both online and in real life.

As such, whenever trolls see intelligent and thoughtful people refuting their "points" they know they cannot come up with a single canon compliant rebuttal. Therefore they dog-pile in droves as to wear down the opponent who inevitably has to stop responding to them at some point. Because a logical person who dedicates time and thought to formulate an argument, fact checks and brings up evidence and quotes from the source material simply cannot withstand a wave of unhinged trolling coming at them left, right and center. They certainly cannot respond to each ridiculous one line statement of the trolls (such as the types of statements you bring up, in the vein of "Freya is a b1tch, she should've DyEd instead of He**d*all!!11!!") by typing out a thorough and researched response each time. As it would require not just spending hours on it but repeating themselves numerous times over.

The above behavior from trolls is what caused me personally a burnout from the fandom culture overall and led to my taking a distance. When I engage with people in online communities I tend to avoid blanket statements and try to always back up my points with examples from canon. Trolls don't need any of that and always dismiss those points or, at best, make it look like they acknowledge them (by quoting back). But instead of replying with canon facts they resort to Strawman Arguments or Ad Hominem.

In Gow(R) and other gaming fandoms there's also the matter of the trolls looking for "backup" in the form of big bloggers/reviewers who express, in some respects, a view of the plot and characters similar to them. Which trolls use as another "proof" their opinion is supposedly held by the majority. But the uncomfortable - for them and those reviewers - truth is that YouTube community (a cesspool of trolling as of now) represents hardly even 1 percentage of the general audience (one that pays actual money for the games). Which at most passively watches some of those videos, mainly when they have a click baiting title.

A prime example is that "viral" video with millions of views about Atreus supposedly "having a crush on Thrud". Looking at the comment section it becomes obvious that the people leaving humorous and lighthearted remarks don't take the video or the title statement seriously. Whereas the actual trolls who consider Atreus a "selfish little runt" (c) but somehow good enough to be a prize/reward for Thrud (whom they either sexualize or treat as their girlboss self insert); and who deny that Atreus and Angrboda is the only canon budding romance arc in the series are the same four or five people/nicknames. Who can be observed under other Atreus/Angrboda videos with their nonsense.

Furthermore, trolls actively participated in making the "Atreus and Thrud" piece viral in the comment section for at least one Atreus/Angrboda tribute video by mentioning the AT video and the amount of views it has. And openly insisting it somehow "proves that the fans want" Atreus and Thrud as a romantic arc for Atreus - the very same character they consider unworthy of being a secondary protagonist let alone becoming the main lead of the series or having his own spin off. But, as noted, they believe him to be acceptable enough to become a trophy man for their preferred girlboss.

That in turn brings us to another issue of male characters absolutely also being susceptible to objectification and being reduced to love interests and plot devices for female characters whom fandom minority treats as a part of their personal power fantasy. Atreus hating trolls originally didn't even deny they hated Angrboda "by association" with Atreus - thus even they initially admitted she was intended as his potential romantic partner by the narrative - because women to them are just men's extensions/accessories. But when they realized this argument makes it very easy to dismiss them for the bitter misogynists that they are they changed the tactic (also classic troll pattern) and started to distort canon in order to invent "arguments" to justify not just their Atreus hating but also their Angrboda hating stance.

To "warm up" they originally started calling Angrboda a "woke points character" which I cannot stress enough is utterly laughable when coming from Atreus/Thrud shippers. Because if there is a woke points or fan-service character in GowR it would be Thrud and Heimdall, respectively. They're the only ones who could be either removed entirely (Thrud) or replaced/have their screentime reduced to one or two scenes and the story would've been exactly the same. Thrud's Valkyrie aspirations have no influence on the plot whatsoever and are a complete filler. I'm saying this not because I dislike either of them but because it's an objective fact that smashes troll arguments flat.

Then there is the matter of the trolls being unable to stand the fact that interactions with Angrboda is Atreus's healthiest and most positive relationship in the story. It especially challenged them that Angrboda always valued Atreus's personal choices and didn't once question him (even when she disagreed with his train of action), his moral character or his right to take his own independent decisions (on the contrary, Thrud questioned his every move and deemed him untrustworthy the moment he made one, genuine mistake with Garm - and the trolls deemed it admirable because "finally someone put that little runt in place"; they don't actually ship Atreus and Thrud, they ship their own aggression and disdain towards Atreus projected onto Thrud).

Angrboda let Atreus exercise his agency (another troll nightmare as they cannot stand the very idea of Atreus having any) even when his actions went directly against her mother's words about the giant marbles or against the prophesy itself. That is, despite Angrboda considering the prophesy which killed both of her parents her lifeline. And believing that delivering said prophesy and the giant souls to Loki was her one and only mission in the existence full of loneliness (years of not speaking to another person, per Angrboda's own admission). As well as full of hard labor she had to engage in daily at a strikingly young age (purely out of love and sense of responsibility for every living thing in Ironwood) because there was no one around to help her (Atreus understandably expressed astonishment and admiration at that which Angrboda appreciated but - which is no less important - pointed out they're the same age; implying that she knows and acknowledges Atreus/Loki has gone through a lot himself and fared well). Even Angrboda's grandmother broke due to challenges that only made Angrboda more caring and compassionate.

Which is another point worth addressing about fandom culture because it tends to put down gentle and vulnerable girls and women as "unfeminist". Modern "feminism" has little to do with woman empowerment or rights and is a repackaged patriarchy that praises women/female characters as strong and independent only when they take the aggressor and conqueror mantle from a man.

Kratos fell a victim of a similar thinking on part of both the gamebro AND the "progressive" segment of the fandom. I realize Tumblr is not ready yet for that conversation, but masculinity is not inherently toxic and neither is femininity. What both gamebros and woke types cannot handle is that Kratos's development and Angrboda's character represent the type of masculinity and femininity, respectively, that isn't imposed on them by the sexist society but that is based completely on their free will and life experience. Moreover, Thrud is the one who was heavily influenced by the toxic environment she grew up in. Therefore considering her a "feminist icon" is both factually wrong and unwise (even if we discount her "treacherous ex wife" comment in regards to Freya because that was ALSO a part of Odin's toxic influence that she can now, hopefully, work through and move on from).

But the most delightful part is that none of those troll views and arguments have proven to matter at all. GowR developers went on to do literally every single thing trolls dreaded. Freya was not made into a "big bad b!tch who deserved to be killed by Kratos for being a less than perfect mother" (even though not only was Kratos the furthest thing from the father of the year in Gow18 but as you note, the very same people wouldn't object to physical violence against Atreus at his hands). Kratos continued to work towards healthier existence and carving a better path. Angrboda remained an emotionally mature, loving, caring and independent person with a potential of her relationship with Atreus going further in the following installments. Atreus is clearly set up to have his own spin off or remain a secondary protagonist or even become the main protagonist next game. That in and of itself is a prime example of how irrelevant trolls and their entitled demands are in the grand scheme of things.

That being said, as I always point out, we should keep in mind we cannot control media we consume, only our experience with it. A healthy emotional distance from it is the only way to avoid stress if/when the writers come up with decisions we might not like or find offensive. Mental well being should be our priority and media created by others should never define us.

FLOWER HEADCANON(S) FOR SHANE

RECIEVING FLOWERS/GENERIC OTHER FLOWER RELATED THINGS

When it comes to flowers, Shane is pretty indifferent to them over all.

Sure, he thinks they're pretty, but outside of the bouquet? There's no point of giving him any, even as a romantic surprise.

He'll blush, sure, and be very flattered, but he'll be more confused over why you'd give him flowers.

They're sort of just there in this opinion.

(For in-game flowers) If he had to say his favourite flower? He'd probably just say Fairy Roses - simply because those are Jas's favourite, so they're the only one he knows anything about.

(For real-life flowers) If he had to say his favourite flower? He'd probably say 'Bluebells'.

I feel he prefers blue/purple flowers, so, Bluebells' work well for that. They're a nice Spring flower.

Really, the only thing he dislikes is that they're not good for the Hens, so he (alongside Jas and Marnie most likely), have the fun of grabbing them out of the ground before the Hens can have a taste.

Apart from that, sure, Bluebells are pretty.

Why Bluebells? From a Meta stand point is due to their symbolism.

Bluebells symbolise: humility, constancy, gratitude, and everlasting love. There's old folklore claiming that if you wear a crown of bluebells, you can only speak the truth, and that if you can turn a bluebell inside out without tearing it, you'll win the one you love.

And, aside from humility because he already had a very negative view of himself, I think Bluebells fit Shane as a person once you go through his heart events - and if you chose to marry him.

Constancy: he goes to therapy, he gets help with his alcoholism. He finds a consistency in life, a constant, better, way to help himself that wasn't getting drunk. I know the 14 heart event kinda fumbled it, in my opinion, but we do see he finds a new distraction with the arcade game as opposed to drinking constantly - or at least as much.

Gratitude: The first thing Shane does after the 6 heart event is come and speak to the farmer about it. To say he's getting help. You do get dialogue relating to him being very grateful to the farmer; even new lines of speech in the 1.6 update (which I won't write because potential spoilers) mention he seems happier and such. Shane shows a lot of gratefulness towards the farmer and such as the heart events go on. He even says, as one of his marriage dialogues: "When I stop and think about it...I'm in a good place. My life is pretty nice."

Everlasting Love: I feel like Shane is the ride or die sort of person. He may not be the most romantic guy out there; he can be romantic, just don't expect grand gestures. But he loves hard, and deep - to him, it's everlasting. Divorcing him will just completely destroy him which is why I can never do it I will just start new farms I'm too soft lmao xD. Point is, I feel like when Shane loves; he does it forever. Whether that be the farmer, whether it be Jas, whether it be those in his life that have passed away - he'll never stop loving them, no matter what. He likes to be gruff on the outside, but he's scared to get hurt again - he pushes people away before he feels more pain, but deep down, he's a marshmallow and full of just love that never ends ;3;

GIFTING (JAS)

When it comes to gifting flowers to Jas? Oh he's going to do his best to grow them himself.

Sure he could just buy them from Pierre's, but, well, he feels it would mean more if he grew them himself yanno?

Though I feel like he does only actually grow them one time before deciding to buy flowers afterwards, because growing flowers is difficult u_u

Thing is, Shane does not have the greenest thumb. Animals, especially Chickens? Sure; man knows Chickens to the point I feel he could just look at a feather and identify the breed, whether they're a Hen/Rooster, age just from one look with terrifying accuracy.

But actually growing something? Oh the poor man is clueless u_u

Shane does try though! He even speaks to Evelyn about it - she's the one in charge of all the flowers around town after all, and it was very awkward of him to approach her to ask. But Evelyn is just everyone's Grandmother so I feel she's more than happy to teach him.

He also turns to you for help, somewhere for him to grow them where Jas can't find them - he'd hate to ruin his surprise.

Why go through the effort of growing flowers for Jas? Because she is the number one person in his life, and he'll always feel guilty for the things he said when he was at his lowest, the drinking, etc.

Jas's favourite flowers are Fairy Roses! So course he's growing those. He has the seeds, a garden pot from Grandma Evelyn, and whatever else he needs.

And then it turns out growing flowers is difficult. Too much water? It's dead. Too little water? Dead! A lot of flowers were sacrificed in this mans attempts u_u

But after about 10 dead flowers and a small break down to the farmer later because Yoba this is harder than it looks it's a flower why is it so difficult ??? He finally managed to have one success, and thankfully, it was even in Jas's favourite colour.

It was surprisingly stressful to grow flowers without killing them.

But seeing the way Jas's eyes lit up, the way she smiled brighter than the sun? Oh that made it worth it for him.

Even when she insisted on showing literally everyone the flowers Uncle Shane grew just for her

GIFTING (FARMER)

So similarly to Jas, I feel like Shane would try and grow the farmers favourite flowers

Except, of course, he won't tell the farmer because well, what's the point in that?

Now I don't think Shane is the most romantic person in the World. At least when it comes to gifting/gestures, things like that.

Totes a massive cuddler, and just enjoys physical affection. Laying on the couch watching Gridball together and eating microwaved pizza? Sounds like the best night ever.

But romantic gestures? He struggles. Not because he doesn't want to, but because he's always has that little self doubting voice in the back of his head. Wants to make the farmer their favourite meal? Oh but he might burn it, or cook it wrong, or give them food poisoning! Wants to watch a [insert genre] movie with you? Wait, you did say you like those movies right, oh the farmer looks bored maybe this was a bad choice?? Should he turn it off, or talk, ask what you think? Maybe you were tired from farming and he should've just suggested you guys go to bed??

Basically he is plagued with the thoughts u_u

But back to flowers!

He wants to do something nice to the Farmer, and the farmer grows a lot of stuff, so he's gonna try!

It goes as well as one would expect; essentially take what I wrote for Jas but, imagine its for the farmer instead xD

He does eventually manage to grow a pretty decent bouquet of [insert farmers favourite flower here]

He course gets those doubts, worries. What if these weren't the farmers favourite and he mis-remembered! Do they even like flowers???

But when he finally decides to give them to the farmer, with their partially wilted and creased petals, he murmurs about how he wanted to grow something nice for them.

And he see's the soft little glimmer to the Farmers eyes, the warm smile, the faint blush, and the struggle of trying to grow them made it all very much worth it

Especially when the farmer pressed a loving kiss to his cheek

But he's never doing it again it was stressful; if he wants to romance the farmer a little, he's sticking to microwaving a pizza for them

FLOWER DANCE

Okay admittedly most of these are more Shane and Jas head canons but they're based around the Flower Dance so I'm like lowkey cheating I guess? xD

Shane really does not enjoy the Flower Dance; he doesn't really get the appeal, nor does he like wearing that blue suit, and having to dance in front of the town. He finds it embarrassing.

He really only shows up for the food, and because Jas always wants to go

And I really think he finds it difficult to tell her 'no' ;3;

Anyway, he'd rather stay at home, but, he'll always show up whenever Jas asks him to

I feel everyone in town always wears some sort of flower with their outfit; something unique to them in a way yanno?

For Shane, he'd get that Fairy Rose, and, again, it's thanks to Jas. He knows they're her favourite, and well, he wouldn't know what else to pick.

Shane technically does the Flower Dance twice.

He does it once with either Emily, or the Farmer, during the actual event.

The other time? With Jas

Sometimes she asks him in the morning, before the actual event. She's bright and peppy, and teasing how he needs to practice before he dances with Emily/The Farmer.

He always blushes when Jas points that out.

But he also always agrees.

It's mostly Jas standing on his feet, holding onto him, while Shane carefully dances through the steps for her. She always giggles and talks about how she's going to be Flower Queen one day. Shane knows she will be.

Other times though, he dances with her at the end of the day. When the petals of the Fairy Rose he wears is slightly wilted and crumpled; when his suit was creased and in need of being dry cleaned and hung back up for another year.

She's tired, yes, but she can't miss a Flower Dance without an actual dance. And Shane can't miss dancing with his favourite person in the World.

Instead of letting her stand on his feet though, Shane will carefully lift her so she can rest on his hip. So she can cling onto him tight, and rest her head on his shoulder.

He's rock her back and forth, just dancing those familiar steps, Shane humming that Flower Dance music that he finds so stupid, but will be stuck in his head for weeks.

If the Fairy Rose he wears hasn't already been added to the compost pile, or wasn't completely wilted at that point, Shane will carefully take it from the breast pocket of his suit, and slide it into her hair.

And he'll dance with her, all night, way past her bed time, until she falls asleep, and he can carry her to her room to tuck her into bed.

He doesn't like the Flower Dance, but he'll dance it, he'll deal with it, because it makes Jas happy, and that's the most important thing to him.

What is your opinion about the ending of Miraculous?

(I'm using this ask as my chance to talk about both episodes as a whole, not just the ending-- spoilers ahead!)

My thoughts on these two episodes are mixed, but positive overall. :)

Over all, I enjoyed the episodes. It was fun, the action and animation were great, and there are parts that I really really loved that are being adopted into all my kwami headcanons right now and no one can stop me. I was worried with how the season would end based off of some things I heard, and was prepared for the worst-- but these were enjoyable episodes to watch.

However I will not lie that I am not happy with how some characters were handled. I'm sorry but I will never be happy with Gabriel being seen as a hero, and the fact that Adrien wasn't there or even told what happened?? Gabriel getting a statue?? Gabriel acting like he cared about Adrien when he clearly didn't?? No... just no, its not right or fair. I could go on about this all day, but I won't as there's a lot to say about these episodes.

Adrien not getting a role in this finale I am mad at. Him being left in the dark about what happened I'm also not happy with, HOWEVER... seeing Marinette's age, mindset, and everything she's been through... I don't feel that her actions were out of character. I can see a young teenager under pressure wanting to protect the one she loves from a horrible reality. I'm not saying her keeping the truth from him is right, but I can see how it fits into the narrative. As long as the fact that this lie was told is addressed in the future (and the weight it will no doubt put on Adrien) and not just brushed aside, then I won't get up in arms about this scene yet, and I will wait to see how its handled in the future.

Last small little tiny thing is Felix. Like... it feels out of character for him to just be like "yeah hero team!" and for the hero team to be like "yeah Felix!" Feel like more should have been addressed on Felix's character as a whole.

Okay-- enough about the negative-- onto all the awesome parts about these episodes! :D

First of all-- hero team!! Full time holders!! Saved kwamis (I'm so sorry Nooroo that you're still out there you deserve so much better!!) I love it, this is what we needed, and I hope the identity rules ease up among the heroes after this.

Next Nathalie. Oh Nathalie, the queen, amazing-- 11/10 this episode. She full on goes in dying and is ready to shoot Gabriel with a crossbow?? Like girl, you're amazing!! I'm glad to see that she is better now, she deserves it. Anyways I love her.

Adrien getting his amok-- yes, finally.

Marinette's Ladybug and Black Cat unification was a lot of fun. Its too bad the name Lady Noire was already taken, but I loved this whole fight. A piano being dropped on Gabriel's head, Gabriel's reaction to Marinette being Ladybug. Marinette beating Gabriel and just summoning all the Luck Charms... she was a boss. I loved the checkmate scene. I love how she did try to reach out to Gabriel (not that he deserves a second chance but Marinette is just a sweetheart). I loved Gabriel's betrayal to her with a Vemon because it was his last in character moment, I loved that we got to see all the other characters in action. The classmates, Fei and the New York heroes. All great scenes.

Now finally onto the gold of these episodes: THE KWAMIS. Hehehehe they were amazing, they were beautiful. Yes give me all their true forms, give me Gimmi (hehe) they look SO cool and epic. I originally thought I wouldn't like a true-form kwami or a fusion form of them but never mind they're glorious they are my children we need true forms for all the kwamis look at how powerful they are!!

And how the Wish works... I never really liked the whole "destroy the universe and create a new one" idea they had going on in other episodes, and I'm so glad they went with an equal price. And maybe destroy and remake the universe still has a role in it all but give me the green strawberries as a price. The whole Wish scene with how it works and the true form of the kwamis was fantastic and I love it so much.

So...it´s complicated. Let´s just say that for now, for the time being, yes - I defo see reader as an unwilling prisoner who is fearing for their life most of the time because I like to write them as realistically as possible and the same goes for Maggot Momma - I want my monsters to remain monstrous. I like to describe things as one might actually experience them and, therefore, things can take a rather dark and twisted turn. But that´s where the appeal lies for a lot of people (myself included).

Exploring the inner workings of someone as twisted as Maggot Momma feels almost forbidden at times, but that´s what makes it so much fun to write and analyze. There´s just something so alluring and sinful about, well, everything Momma represents, really. She´s a deadly weapon which won´t hesitate to snuff out your life and laugh in your face while she does it...except when it comes to that certain someone and THAT´S where the true appeal lies.

What makes that certain someone so different from anyone else? What is it about them that makes a literal monster pause and decide that - yes, that´s the one - and being obsessed, completely smitten with their chosen one which is so untypical for a monster but here we are and, again, THAT´S what´s so alluring about it. A beast turned (somewhat) soft for that one person while everyone else can just rot in hell-

It´s basically Beauty & the Beast gone unhinged you could say.

Also, I wouldn´t go so far as to say reader feels "disgusted", at least not when it comes to Momma´s overall appearance (at least I don´t think I´ve given that impression in my previous posts, feel free to correct me though). They´re simply scared shitless and that breath truly does stink because Maggot Momma´s literally the walking dead and who can blame them IF they felt slightly repulsed by that? Also, have you been around decomposing, rotting bodies over a longer period of time? Me neither, thank god. Because lemme tell you, it would not be pleasant, at all.

Also, you might have noticed that Maggot Momma and her certain someone haven´t actually ticked that box yet. Meaning: anything to do with actual body contact has yet to happen - save for the occasional bite or lick here and a sniff there and sometimes raking those bloodstained hands through their hair. But that´s about it and your ask perfectly explained why I decided to do it that way.

Because, while I do love tapping into darker territory, I don´t want it to get that dark. That´s just not appealing to me as I feel like there´d be no room for that delicious tension or any kind of holy shit that´s hot yknow. (But that´s just my opinion, to each their own.)

So the clothes stay on (for now) and Imma keep sneaking in some lighter moments to balance out all that...other stuff.

But I guess we might be tapping into things like Stockholm Syndrome at some point in the future because I feel like that´s just an obvious consequence of...everything that´s happening in this (cursed) building.

Definitely hated him at some point (or more than one) because of his behaviour at the party (?) (I forgot if it was a party that August organized but u get it), where Sapphia clearly acted out of impulse and then we all know what happened next.

Also in the backstory where he was super mean to her, ableist, hated her for being a lesbian and kept forcing himself to believe she was the villain!!! oh, and the desperate try to stop the wedding.

I have no idea if he's converting back to being good or something, since we can see him finally coming to his senses after the closet scene (percy in the closet and august confessing), I really hope tho!! would love to see a redemption arc

4. Any OCs/Theories/Headcanons

My biggest theory was the whole Lucas/Luna/Lucille thing (I had figured out Lucille was Lucas b4 the transition, and Luna was his sister). I had a whole document about it where I color picked stuff and helped with a few lines from diff chapters! Took it very seriously (⁠.⁠ ⁠❛⁠ ⁠ᴗ⁠ ⁠❛⁠.⁠) Canvas readers already knew, but for me (and anyone else) who started reading in 2022, clearly it was new stuff!! I remember sending the doc to a few friends and convincing them of the theory being real, it was fun ngl!!

Other than that, I don't have any particular headcanons, and no OCs (but would love to see if someone has any!)

Oh, defender/protector, most often, for sure. She got her 'band name because she sheltered Lifa and Weylon from a storm with her magic; she continued to serve in that role for them and the rest of her 'bandmates for as long as she served as legionnaire (~15 years); her first real bonding moment with Cio was defending her from a sylvari-turned-Mordrem after their airship crashed (while just having been stabbed in the leg by a piece of debris)...I could absolutely go on but will stop here for now.

22. What is some advice or guidance they received that had a big impact on their lives or outlook? Was it a positive or negative impact?

Hmm. Good question.

Ari has had a decent amount of people give her advice over the years. The highest concentration of it can be found in the somewhat typical things she heard as a cub in the fahrar (listen to superior officers because they know better than you, don't rely so much on your magic because it makes you seem weak (and makes us uncomfortable), don't believe in false gods, etc.). To some extent, she's thrown most of those out the window nowadays. If you disagree with orders, it's worth it to question them. Her magic is one of her strengths and she's not ashamed of it (and she fought very hard as a cub to prove that point). She doesn't believe in any gods, but a couple of her friends do, and they're not lesser for that.

Honestly, I think the most key piece of advice she ever had anyone give her probably came from Pliarr (Cio's brother, whom I always need to talk about more and never seem to actually do that for alsdjkf). Ari originally joined the Order of Whispers to try to figure out a way to rescue Brook and Casca from the Flame Legion, but that came crashing down around her head when she got a missive from the Citadel (from Lifa, as a sort of final goodbye) saying that there'd been a raid on Flame and that both of them were almost certainly dead. Pliarr found her in a hallway, holding the missive and entirely frozen still. He talked her off the ledge--which I mean pretty literally in all senses other than it being a literal ledge--and convinced her to stay with the Order. He's also the first one to suggest to her that she might enjoy being a pilot.

They weren't super close friends, but they stayed connected and were friendly, at least. (And Ari had no idea Cio was his sister until maybe like halfway through the events of HoT when they all ended up in the same place. Which was a while after that first meeting--she only met Cio right at the start of HoT, but she'd known Pliarr since ~1322-1323 xD)

7. If your OC could meet any historical or past figure, whether in the real world or in their own canon lore, who would it be and why?

Ari honestly doesn't particularly have anyone she'd like to meet who's a historical figure, so my answer to this is going to be someone I think would be neat for her to interact with...hmm. I think it'd be very interesting to see her interact with GW1 characters. Ari would get along mostly well with Pyre Fierceshot, but it'd be a bit odd (different time periods, very different environments growing up, different opinions on the other races to some extent) and not without friction. I cannot see her getting along with Gwen at all, but I can see mutual respect at some point. Out of my GW1 OCs, I think she'd get along best with Daisy--eventually (Daisy would need a Minute thanks to, well, understandable personal baggage re: the Searing; and whether Ari were to meet during-the-GW1-main-storyline-Daisy or post-canon-Daisy would change a decent amount).

Honestly, though, this is really fun to consider even if only because their frames of reference for the world would be super different from each other. So even if their personalities match up in many ways, they have inherent differences from that alone. (I don't know if I said Any of this in a way that makes sense, but there you go!)

Celeste loves your talent a whole bunch!

She loves that it's such a refined and gothic talent to have.

It reminds her of the famous Victorian poets, like Mary Elizabeth Coleridge and the Brönte Sisters.

Even if you don't right those sorts of poems, that won't stop her from noticing the resemblance.

She won't approach you first to see your poems, but will absolutely listen if you decide to show her.

She says it's like fate that she won you! The gothic, royal-looking princess and her adorable little poet, singing sonatas at her.

She reads Shakespeare, if you can't tell, with Romeo and Juliet being her favorite, since it reminds her of you.

Poor Mukuro basically has no sense of self, so expect her to ask you if she should like it first.

"S/O, I-I know I'm stupid, so how do I feel about this? Do I like it?"

You ended up crying and telling her that she can feel however she wants about your poetry, and that you wouldn't hurt her for not sharing your opinions like Junko did to her.

From that moment on, she tried to be more open about her opinions about your writing, usually very good, but still quite afraid to express constructive criticism.

Poor Mukuro. :(

You wrapped her in your arms and reminded her that she's safe with you and she's allowed to have negative opinions, too.

Mukuro did her best to start giving you constructive criticism, but it's always coupled with an apology for having those feelings or asking you not to hurt her.

It'll take awhile to get her out of that habit, but she will, eventually, and she loves you so much.

She also is one to help you write poems! She'll do those fun games with you.

For example, she gives you a word, and you write a poem based off of it. With enough pushing, she may even join you and write a poem with you!

She absolutely learns to master whatever style you write, whether that be haikus, rhyming couplets, stanzas, or whatever it is you write in your spare time!

She's always the type to ask for tips to improve her writing, stating that she wants to learn from the best of the best, and be like the person she loves.

Mukuro has always been conditioned to believe that she needs to be someone else (Junko), so oftentimes, she'll either try to write like Junko would or write in your style to impress you.

If you tell her that she's perfect as just Mukuro Ikusaba, she will be in tears, mark my words.

But she loves you nonetheless, regardless of your talent, and strives to be like you.

Junko, at first, only liked you because she found you interesting because your poems brought her despair. It doesn't matter if you write about sunshine and unicorns or death and destruction of the world, your poems gave her despair, for whatever reason.

She was curious if you'd be willing to help her and use your poems to brainwash the class a year under hers into her loyal servants of despair.

Of course, you agreed. Your girlfriend had done nothing but loved and supported you, and if all she asked in return was that you use your talent to aid in her goals, you were willing to do so.

Junko tasks you with writing the most despair-inducing poems you possibly can, doing the same thing as Mukuro, and giving you words to base your poems off of. She'd ask that your poems praise despair and diminish hope, promising that she'd convert you to be just like her soon.

You were in love with her, truly, so you agreed. You did want to be with Junko forever, and if a life of despair was what it took for that to happen, you were completely willing. You knew you'd enjoy it soon, anyway.

So you helped her to brainwash Mikan, and Sonia, and Kazuichi, and Teruteru, and Gundham, and Peko, and Fuyuhiko, and everyone else that would soon become the Remnants Of Despair, and even her own sister, Mukuro.

You were in a world of pure despair as Junko manipulated everyone to do her bidding, which you ruled alongside your queen as the Remnants wreaked havoc in the streets.

Eventually, the time came for your reward, as Junko brainwashed you into despair, as well.

You two spread despair with your poetry, with Junko trying her hand at it, as well. That was often a date or some quality time between the two of you.

Except now, your poems all revolved around your genuine love for despair, as well as your love for Junko, which always makes her very happy.

She always insisted you would be happier in despair, and you were! You were grateful to her for converting you, and making the Ultimate Poet fall to despair.

You were her second-in-command, the one behind all her schemes and made them possible, usually with your creativity with words, which made you an excellent speech-maker. You were often the motivational speaker.

But alas, all good things must come to an end, and Junko eventually perished in the line of duty of gifting despair to others.

So what did you do? You followed your beloved queen to the grave, of course.

You would be together forever.

We talked about him with the authors, Marco Nucci and Maestro Giorgio Cavazzano.

INTERVIEW WITH MARCO NUCCI (WRITER)

Hi Marco! In seven days we get the ball rolling with "The Ballad of John D. Rockerduck": why did you choose this title?

«For a very simple reason: it sounded good! It was the first title that jumped into my mind, and I used it. Then I realized it was good. I like to think of this story as a sort of folktale, able of telling us about many things: about money, but also about ambitions and fears, about personal impulses. And also about strain, why not? Rockerduck will suddenly find himself placed in front of a mirror, as if it were the first time... and what he sees will trigger a series of unpredictable reactions and events.»

Sometimes you need to be a bit of a psychologist: how many sessions with Rockerduck did it take to create this "introspective" story?

«A few sessions and a chat with Alex Bertani (translator note: lead editor of Topolino), who suggested me to delve into the psychology of Rockerduck and gave me some hints about the hidden side of his character to bring out. So I conceived this story, it appeared from nowhere in front of my eyes, point by point, from beginning to end. I wanted this insight into Rockerduck to be told in a funny way and I hope I hit the target. Above all, I would like to thank Giorgio Cavazzano, who did a "Giorgio" job, that is, extraordinary in every part. He is the best artist in the world, full stop. Especially when it rains. I love the his rain, it makes me want to take up an umbrella.»

Given tha you have patiently listened to Rockerduck's confidences, how do you interpret his rivalry with Uncle $crooge? (Or does professional secret prevent you from talking about it?)

«It's part envy, part healthy greed and a part… spoilers, I can't say more. If one day we’re going to carry out the “week after interviews” I will be much more eloquent!»

Have you ever felt second best to someone like Rockerduck is?

«I'm second to almost everyone, in almost everything. I can hold my own with writing, and I admit I am an excellent cook and an all-rounder when it comes to cinema. Everything else it’s a Waterloo. But I don't care. Rivalries are a waste of time: they have the bad habit of just putting you in a bad mood. Indeed, very bad... John D. Rockerduck’s word!»

Hi Giorgio! What did you like about this story?

«I liked its originality and the situations thrilled me. When I read Marco Nucci's screenplay I found it interesting and funny, because it touched on aspects of three little-known characters. It was a difficult story to draw but in the end I felt gratified, so much so that I called Marco Nucci to tell him it was brilliant!»

What is the real "wealth" of this multibillionaire?

«Very often the added value comes from the negative side. If he didn’t exist, we’d have to invent him, also because he is the negative counterpart of $crooge, especially when it comes to business and finance. In this story, however, something changes... »

After drawing so many squabbles and challenges between McDuck and Rockerduck, what's your opinion on their rivalry?

«It's a fun rivalry. It could not be otherwise: Rockerduck is a lopsided character, his assistant Lusky is comical... they allow you to tell the rivalry with $crooge in a way that’s always amusing and never repetitive.»

Tell us the truth, how many bowlers did you make the "Rookie" swallow during the decades?

"Lots, he must have had indigestion! The reader always expects such an ending, but I always feel a bit sorry for him. Next time I'll serve him a Borsalino or a beret or a flat cap on a silver platter: I'm tired of drawing bowler hats!»

Hello, hello! I thought I would reach out for some advice if you don't mind??

I'm very new to the fandom and it's become a hyperfixation of mine, and was glad I found mcytblr because it feels safer than twitter and other social media!! However, I noticed a lot of people considering leaving the last few days because more and more toxicity and negativity is leeching onto here that is akin to twitter. One of my favorite blogs actually went on a possible permanent hiatus over it and it was disheartening to see it affect them that much....

I guess I'm just really panicking and afraid?? I feel like I've joined the fandom during a really volatile time and I'm worried that the toxic side of the fandom, moving on to new fandoms, etc. will drive away my mutuals and such and the vibes won't be the same anymore and get worse and worse. I know realistically, new blogs will likely take their place as new people join, but that doesn't change my anxiety surrounding everything happening on here. It hurts because mcyt has started to mean a lot to me and the community is hurting and there is no sign of it slowing down any time soon...I just...idk if I have the proper words but watching the positive side of mcytblr wanting to leave is affecting more than seeing the negativity on here. I'm worried it'll be a ghost town on tumblr in time despite the ccs + mcyttwt's growing popularity :(

second of all, i know often it may seem like it, especially if you frequent twitter more than tumblr, but i fully believe the positivity outweighs the negativity! there are so many lovely, kind, creative, incredible people in this community, that makes me very happy that i ever joined 😊 it's so exciting to be part of such a fun community where you have so many people to talk to, we've all got so much in common it's just really fun!

so in my personal opinion, your experience depends entirely on you! i promise you that if you follow the right people, 9 times out of 10 you will not see any negativity unless you look for it! i myself almost had a breaking point and was considering leaving the fandom, because while i was enjoying myself on tumblr - i also had an account on twitter and boyyyyy i was just following all the wrong accounts.

i realised that twitter offers me absolutely nothing, so i've unfollowed everyone and only follow my favourite content creators, a few artists and give or take a fan here or there - people whom i know will not engage in negativity!

on tumblr is even better, because you can tag and blacklist things so you won't see them. makes it even easier to avoid toxicity and negativity. and one of the most important things i learned is that for your own sake, for your own mood and mental health - don't engage. sometimes you really want to, sometimes you see someone say something very ignorant or disrespectful, and you just want to say something, but i promise you it's so much better and easier to just unfollow and go about your day! if anyone is deliberately being nasty to you, just block them, i promise it's not worth engaging!

honestly more often than not, you'll be fighting your curiosity more than negativity. for example i won't see anything bad about dream, but i'll see people say 'did you see what they're saying about him on twitter??' - and i will only see that stuff if i actively go and search for it. so you gotta try your very best to stop yourself from searching for things :P

in a lot of cases i think people make themselves sad unintentionally. because they worry too much or care too much, too often, about things that we don't really need to worry so much about. whether it's about some old controversy, or if dream and george had an off day and suddenly people are stressing out that their friendship is falling apart, or some streamer is accusing them of something - the less attention you give it the better, the less you worry about it the better.

of course it isn't your fault if you hyperfixate, but you have to try your very best to remember that your mental health is most important! so above all, you have to take care of yourself the most! so i think those people that are choosing to leave, are doing just that :) maybe they'll just take a break, maybe they'll come back, maybe they'll stay altogether - but the best thing to do, is doing what you know is best for you!

i don't know if that helped at all, i feel like i just said a lot of words and not a whole lot of sense haha! but my point is that you need to trust yourself the most :) trust that you'll be able to handle if it's too negative at times, trust yourself that you won't let negativity affect you to the extent that it will impact your mental health, and trust that if god forbid it ever gets to that point, that you'll be able to take yourself out of it! ❤️

The sides denying aspects of themselves

I could write 50 essays on this topic but you'd all get bored and it would be incoherent. So let me talk about some of the parts of the sides that they deny. You probably all already know these but I think it's interesting to talk about and look at the examples--so here we go!

Logan "I don't feel anything" Sanders

OK, right out of the gate this is so untrue. Its so, so, so untrue. You know it, I know it, we all know it.

We've seen him happy:

Angry:

Scared:

Frustrated:

And empathetic/ remorseful:

We've also seen him passionate (Crofters musical), defeated (SvSr) and childish (Losing my motivation)

And all of this requires feeling.

I think what's interesting about this, is that the veil is so thin for this lie. For the pieces I wrote on Roman and Virgil, other characters have had glimpses of the parts they deny but for the most part it's pretty hidden. However Logan having feelings and denying them is common knowledge. Like all the characters know it.

Even Deciet, who yes, is incredibly astute and intuitive, picked it up within knowing the guy for like 10 minutes of canon interaction.

But what is most interesting about all of this to me is that CHARACTER THOMAS KNOWS.

Not only KNOWS but has canonically called him out on it!

C!Thomas [to Logan]: This just serves as testament to the fact that you have a temperament- which is fine, you just haven't accepted it (-LNTAO)

C! Thomas [to Logan]: I've seen you scared. (-Embarrassing Phases)

This is so so fascinating. Firstly, it's worth remembering that Thomas is in control here.

As Virgil said "You're the boss Thomas. Anything you want to know, you can know. You just have to be open to hearing it."

They're his sides. He ultimately has control over them. And Thomas knows that Lo is hiding his emotions, so WHY doesn't he resolve this? Because, let us be clear, it might take time, but if he wanted to, he could.

A) He doesn't think that ultimately, it doesn't matter

B) He doesn't want to

C) He hasn't actually adressed the matter

D) He is concerned about the consequences

Personally I think it's a combination of all four, although perhaps less so D.

We never really get long enough to pause on this topic and see the other sides reactions to this, so it's difficult to draw any firm conclusions. The best we really have is The Puzzle Song in LNTAO, and from that we can conclude Roman is frustrated, and Patton and Virgil are empathetic, but also a bit frustrated and trying to facilitate change.

OK, we've established that he has feelings and looked a little bit at other character reactions. Let's move on to our favourite blue boy himself.

Firstly, motive. WHY does he do this. This is one is easy, and widely canonically established, its his overwhelming need to be taken seriously. Right?

Well sort of.

That what I would have said at first too, but I don't think thats exactly right. It's because he needs to be LISTENED TO, and it's important we make that distinction. I think Crofters is a great example. He made a bit of a fool of himself in that video, and what's more, he didn't care. And I don't think it's becuse of his powerful love of Crofters overtook his sensibilities (lol) it's because he didn't have a point he needed it express in that video. His emotionless, serious personna was created is that the other sides, and Thomas, would listen to him, when he expresses facts and opinions. Because that's all Logan wants.

So it's pretty heartbreaking that it hasn't worked.*

*(Please note I do not think the sides were unjustified in talking over him in some of this points and that some of them are clearly a result of high emotional stress. That said its still clearly getting to Logan)

This is even more distressing when you consider that for Logan listening and learning, going both ways is very much his love language (See Joans explanation of Sunrise from In The Heights on his playlist, and his reaction to Thomas saying he might take an astronomy course). Logan is killing himself trying to be listened to, trying to be loved, and it's not WORKING (Hmm, remind you of another side?)

But this is a progressive development. Maybe it's partly a result of Thomas not having the characters super fleshed out when the series started, but even so, this personna Logan is putting up is coming up more and more often, and he's clearly repressing his feelings more and more. It's kind of difficult to show this, but just watch Logan in early season 1 compared with now, there is a marked difference.

But actually, I think there are two things that illustrate this perfectly.

First, him making himself into a textbox in POF. I mean it goes without saying, but textboxes aren't people. They don't have emotions. Logan feels he can't even show up anymore, because he as a person, is not worth paying attention to. I don't think it's a coincidence that he chose a form that cannot be talked over, and pops up on the front of the screen, impossible to hide, or cut out of shot. Remember, it was Janus who created the skip button.

(That being said I think I'm not saying this is a sign of him having a healthy ego and interfering, if anything it implies the opposite)

Second, the unicorn onesie. The unicorn onesie is something I keep coming back to when I think about Logan because... UNICORNS. They're a fantasy creature, there's not a jot of science or reality about them. Of all of the choices, Logan, fact oriented Logan, doesn't understand figures of speech Logan, doesn't like cartoons because they're not realistic Logan, WHY does he pick a UNICORN!?

In my opinion, the unicorn onesie is something of a confession. Vulnerability. It kind of represents all of the feelings and fantasy and fun that Logan tries to repress. And that kinda makes sense doesn't it, I mean, feelings, fun and fantasy, that's what unicorns often stand for.

So I think it's telling that throughout the series, we first see him embarrassed, but not too torn up about being seen in his onesie (able to show and engage with his feelings fairly openly, but trying to keep fairly calm and serious) to being unable to wear it around his friends in a relaxed environment, WHEN THEY ARE ALL WEARING ONESIES (Can't show any emotional vulnerability at all and suppressing all his feelings in order to seem serious and be listened to.) Thinking about it this way, Roman saying "no onesie, no vote" could be an interesting parallel to how the sides view this. Because, again this isn't working, and if anything, the deeper Logan goes into this emotionless front, the less he seems to be listened to, which makes him go even deeper, and it's an endless positive feedback loop, which is ironic considering how soul-crushingly negative this is.

What I'm trying to say is that we've seen repeatedly, that the point in the episode where a/the side(s) get emotionally vulnerable is often the point in the episodes where everyone calms down and listens to one another, so this emotional repression is doing nothing but damaging Logan.

That being said, you can understand how he's worried about letting his front it down. Because Logan is right.

There will be times where he needs to be heeded, and ignoring him could lead to disastrous consequences. The biggest example of this is DWIT. If he wasn't there they could not have gotten rid of Remus, everyone else would be panicking, and Thomas' mental state would be in the gutter.

Thomas NEEDS Logan.

So if Logan feels like showing his feelings will stop him from being listened to, then logically, he has to continue to hide and suppress them.

I think in season 3, maybe even the season 2 finale this will be adressed and be a big part of his character arc, and I for one, can't wait.

Mostly, because it confirms that nasty, heavy, sharp voice in her head that has told her since she was a child (one that sounds suspiciously paternal) — Night City doesn’t give a shit about you. Nobody gives a shit about you. That she has a choice of dying in the gutter or dying in a blaze of glory.

what is their biggest weakness? Prior to the game, she’s a little...too trustful of people from Heywood and those she admires. It’s why she gets involved with Dex because she’s so excited and starstruck that she doesn’t stop and think to consider the potential he’d fuck them over.

Other than that, she’s too impulsive and stubborn like I said in another ask. Bitch can’t sit still and think something through for 2 seconds because she’s so far up her own ass with “Well, something bad happened to [x] but I’m smarter and can handle this.”

do they care about their appearance? do they like it? Vera cares about her appearance a lot! The Valentinos strike me as a gang that really cares about their appearance (the aesthetic...chef kiss) and growing up in Heywood they were and influential part of what Vera wanted to grow up to be. She learned early that the way you present yourself affects the way people treat you and most important to her — how much attention they give you and make you remembered.

She really likes her appearance and puts time into it! Even clothes she wears to jobs - usually a jacket, a plain black croptop and highwaisted jeans - is carefully considered. Vera puts on a front in all aspects and fashion is of course no exception.

Also, if anyone fucked up her nails they are dead. Because she pays good money for those every two weeks. It’s kind of goofy but when she wakes up from being shot, her nails are all broken off and jagged and raw and because appearance is such an important thing to her it’s like...a thing she focuses all her upset on? Like she was dehumanized and dropped off in a dump just like she always feared she would be as a nobody Heywood kid.

are they confident in their abilities? Yes! Too confident that it often borders dangerously cocky but she does have the skills to back all her talk up. People aren’t afraid of facing her in a shooting competition for nothing. Or rather people aren’t afraid of her in general for nothing. Her papa crafted her to survive those streets and that’s about the only good thing he gave her. 

what is their opinion on cybernetics? Vera thinks it’s normal and that it’s weird when someone is completely ‘ganic. She sees it as leveling the playing field or rather playing at the level everyone else is at with implants since Heywood is chock full of them with the Valentinos about. Vera takes whatever advantage she can get!

Cyberpsychos and Maelstrom admittedly...scare her shitless because it’s another thing she has to watch out for both them physically and the possibility of that happening to herself.

do they have a good sense of humor? I’d say so! It’s a little dark at times (not as dark as say Johnny’s but she grew up around some real fucked up stuff that became normalized) but she’s a master of knowing how to tune it to the people she’s around. Little manipulator (even though she doesn’t see it that way).

how do they laugh? Fairly loud and very cute! She’s got a great smile and it’s admittedly easy to make her laugh if you know what gets her. It’s infectious and disarming - admittedly, she’s good at faking laughing too and uses it to her advantage because she knows that. That laugh is just a little bit more toned back and controlled - anyone who heard her real belly-laugh where she’s got tears in her eyes would be able to spot it.

do they smoke? Vera started up pretty young, maybe around 13, but she’d quit just after her mother’s funeral (~22 years old) and was in the years she was in Atlanta. Until Johnny’s engram rubbed off on her and she gave in and started smoking. She was under a lot of stress and the pressure caused her to pick it back up.

do they drink? Yeah! It’s pretty much the only vice she starts with at the start of the game. Vera grew up around in Heywood too. Deals were done over drinks and when she was a teenager everyone would sneak whatever they could from their own houses and they’d head up onto one of the roofs. Just drink and shoot the shit while the sun set. She loves going out and clubbing. It’s kind of just part of the culture. Vera only really starts drinking “by herself” during the game.

what kind of drunk are they? Fun loving drunk! Very flirty, loves to dance, the life of the party. It’s like Vera dialed up to 11. Her general habit of making bad decisions becomes very prominent when she’s drunk because the very reasoning and her cleverness flies out the window.

do they take any drugs? Noooo. Definitely not. She stays away from anything except w*ed on the rare occasion. Her mother struggled her whole life with addiction and Vera does not want to repeat her mistakes.

You do realize how utterly laughable it is to tell me “DON’T MAKE MORE GIRLS FALL FOR HIM IT FEELS LIKE THE WHOLE FIC IS TURNING AROUND” and then say “you can do anything you feel fit, I respect your work (:”, right?

This is not respect. This is not “constructive criticism”. This is not an opinion so important and valuable that it warrants being repeated about a million times across A YEAR. Most people? They give out their opinions, negative or positive, ONE TIME, and leave it be, because what matters to them is CONVEYING how they feel, not forcing a writer to constantly explain themselves or write whatever they would be comfortable with. Actually? Most people who have given me negative opinions so far have been like that, except one guy who was outright flaming my story because he wanted to wank to it, and he couldn’t believe he had to read 97 chapters to finally reach the smut. That I’m comparing you to this reader and reviewer is PROBABLY a bad sign, don’t you think?

Sokka didn’t MENTION 28: Sokka acknowledged his past mistakes because he’s a grown man who knows to feel remorse when he hurts people he loves. That he brings up having hurt her, to this day, isn’t in the purpose of going “HEY HEY AZULA REMEMBER WHEN I BROKE YOUR HEART LOL”, it’s in the purpose of saying: “I’ve learned from my mistakes and, as it has been for YEARS, I will devote myself to NEVER hurting you again”. That, anon, is a PERFECTLY VALID SENTIMENT for a wedding vow, and one that requires far more character growth and complexity than “Lol I’m so happy we were both virgins because that is the only kind of pure love that has ever been valid in the universe, anything else doesn’t count”.

Hell, you’ve literally made me go right back to the chapter to look at what he says, exactly: “I messed things up between us over my damn stupidity”, he... is literally beating himself up about this. To this day. He’s not talking about it proudly. And yet you’re here complaining as though he were?

SPOILER: More people will have feelings for Sokka in future chapters. In fact, I want to make it even MORE people than I’d originally planned after receiving all these asks. I’d rather derail my story into something you can’t stomach reading than cater to you. Azula will outright JOKE about being “jealous” in a future chapter, and Sokka will know it’s a joke! :D And I’m NOT lying about this to mess with you, it IS going to happen and your persistent asks absolutely WON’T make me alter my content. And why is it going to happen, you’ll ask? Why, because nice, charming, charismatic guys like Sokka attract people whether they want to or not. It’s what they DO about attracting others what matters to me! :’) And that Sokka rejects other people who attempt to be with him should be, I think, a much more important message about loyalty to someone you love than “I ONLY EVER ATTRACTED ONE PERSON IN MY LIFE AND MARRIED THEM”. Because I know that’s virtually the only thing you appear willing to accept, going by the first ask.

And holy crap, Ty Lee is... flirting around? Flirting around... with Haru. The guy she’s in a committed relationship with, whom she’s going to marry. The whole situation is meant to be insanely ironic considering Ty Lee is with the guy she SHOULD be with but it looks like it’s something else? (Hell, nobody even KNOWS it was Ty Lee, Mei Xun didn’t stick around long enough to discover the woman’s identity, so her reputation’s actually safe?) But you’re just so emotionally compromised by anything regarding Sokka being with anyone else, even if it’s 1. not true because he’s MILES away, with Azula 2. a joke 3. a plot device for a FUTURE EVENT, that you just can’t grasp this irony at all?

Ty Lee, by design in this story, has ALWAYS been pretty damn liberal about flirting and relationships. Despite we’ve mainly just heard such relationships mentioned on the side, rather than witnessing them directly, she is objectively the cast member who’s had the most relationships, whether serious or casual or just occasional, with other people. And even then, she’s getting married. Even when she’s had so many people in her past, she’s settling down with Haru for good. And Haru? Haru is THRILLED. Because he loves her. Because she loves him. Because HER past does NOT have a single thing to do with THEIR future. And yet you seriously read these chapters, where Ty Lee is having a lot of fun with her fiancé, and your brain just translated this as “OMG TY LEE IS A SLUT HARU DESERVES BETTER!”? Seriously?

I feel like I’m getting asks from a childish version of Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy. Everything that isn’t straightforward needs to be explained point by point, apparently, and even then, you don’t get it. I literally went to literature school and was told to write intelligent fiction so readers would feel compelled to unravel its complexities themselves... apparently that was a big fat lie? :’) Your persistence actually has convinced me that it is.

Oh and, for future reference (because I KNOW you’ll come back, that’s all you ever do): not because you throw compliments at me later to “cushion” your complaint does it mean you’re respecting me and my story. You can’t slap someone in the face and then go “Oh your cheeks are so plump that I bet it doesn’t hurt”. You can’t just disregard my request that you keep these sorts of questions to my PERSONAL blog rather than the fic’s blog, and pretend you respect me. You can’t come to me time after time with the same complaints and attitude, watch how I’ve basically gone from initially responding with discomfort (because, in my personal blog, there are MANY asks that predate yours, where I’d already explained my reasoning to someone else who apparently didn’t get it, which means the subject wears me out, A LOT), then seeing that I started ignoring your asks, then seeing I closed the inbox so I could regain some sense of normalcy in my life that you refused to let me reclaim, and then seeing that I’m answering with outright hostility, and pretend that it’s ME who has a problem. 

If someone I respected responded in any similar manner to ANYTHING I said to them, I’d basically feel like shit and never talk to them again because I don’t want to be a burden or a problem for someone whom I value in any way. You, apparently, would rather be a problem, and to no avail, because all you’re achieving so far is convincing me to continue writing things that will make you riot until you stop reading my story. If you CAN’T stop reading regardless of the horrifying, amoral, dreadful decisions I’ve made? Congratulations: you still don’t have the right to tell me what to do with my story. And until you GENUINELY understand that, your compliments don’t mean anything to me. I have readers I value who have conveyed complaints, MANY TIMES, in an actual respectful manner. Readers who are even bothered by the same thing you are. And yet I’m even FRIENDS with them. Imagine that :’) It’s almost like the problem isn’t having whatever opinion you do... but rather, the intent of IMPOSING your opinion constantly and persistently until you’ve driven me to lash out as bluntly and cruelly as I may! To the point I’m outright saying I’m going to rewrite my story into becoming EVERYTHING you don’t want it to be so you leave me alone!

And if you’re not the one who’s been here for a year, and this is not really an echo chamber (despite all of these messages have the same complaints, wording, tone, format, style, punctuation and grammar mistakes), yet you SAW that other people have been doing this for a long time, and thought it was PERFECTLY FINE to join the party? You’re no less of an asshole than the rest of them. No matter if it’s your first time voicing your “opinion”. Because it’s NOT about what you’re saying: it’s about HOW you’re saying it. It’s about trying to guilt trip me into writing whatever you want and claiming the story is going off the rails because something makes you personally uncomfortable. This is NOT objective criticism. This is SUBJECTIVE, ENTIRELY. This isn’t a real problem in storytelling, it’s a personal problem for you because it clashes with your moral values. And NO ONE is forcing you to continue consuming content that goes against your moral values, you’re choosing to do that yourself.

If you’re to live by any of the words you said in these two asks, make it “This is your fic and you can do anything you feel fit”. Because that’s literally what I’m going to do. It’s what I’ve done over EVERY complaint in poor faith I’ve gotten, ranging from “quit writing so much happiness it’s boring” to “where’s the sex you prude”. And it’s what I intend to continue doing. What kind of criticism do I value? “This particular scene features a factually contradictory line with a previous event”, such as Zuko claiming he never went to Sokka’s house when he in fact did, and I plain and simple FORGOT about it. What more kinds of criticism do I value? “You need to work out the Gladiator League’s system better because it’s not a solid business venture”, and this one was right? And yet it was too late to fix it, despite it’s 100% spot-on and I should’ve worked it out way better than I did. Another? “Sokka may have gotten over the fact that Azula captured him and tossed him in a slave market too easily”, because? It’s a perfectly valid sentiment? I disagree because Sokka is canonically shown to get over grudges relatively quickly, and yet I CAN see why it seems too fast for some people. What else do I value? Maybe suggestions on wording problems! I’ve made a lot of stupid wording mistakes, in virtue of being a non-native speaker. I’ve done my best to amend those, but it’s a work in progress even now.

Point and case being: in literature, and thus, in fanfiction? Constructive criticism isn’t “WRITE WHAT I WANT TO READ BECAUSE I WANT TO BE PERFECTLY COMFORTABLE WITH ALL I CONSUME”. Constructive criticism is given by people who KNOW storytelling. So I’d only consider it constructive criticism if it’s given by people who can read those chapters and see that the ENTIRE purpose of that conflict is to trigger growth and development as both Sokka and Azula realize their own mistakes and shortcomings with each other. So, someone who’s giving actual constructive criticism wouldn’t come to my inbox a million times with the same complaint... someone who’s giving constructive criticism would come to my inbox, ONE TIME, and say “Hey, maybe this alternative to conveying Azula is instinctively jealous over her canonical insecurities about being a monster and earning people’s love and loyalties COULD have been preferable, despite I know you can’t change that anymore as it’s fundamental for your story”, or “Hey, I thought of another way for Sokka to convey that he realized their interest in each other could result in something TERRIBLE if they ever acted on their feelings, a way for him to not act on that specific impulse to flirt with Suki to push away Azula, but to act on ANOTHER, believable, IC Sokka-compliant impulse that might still convey exactly what you needed to”. But again, even if it were complaints like THESE? I can’t change anything anymore. It’s TOO LATE. If I think it’s too late to fix Zuko saying “lol I never went to Sokka’s house” when it’s not true? It’s WAY TOO LATE to rewrite chapters that are over SEVEN years old, and I don’t even want to do it to begin with. But I WOULD concede these criticisms. I would accept them. I wouldn’t consider them offensive to me, or my work, or disrespectful in any way.

Constructive criticism is NOT about forcing an author to agree with you, or to do whatever you ask them to. Constructive criticism is about helping an author convey what they were conveying in a better, smoother way. If you CAN’T understand what the author was conveying? You don’t qualify for offering constructive criticism. If you need explanations as to why the author did anything they did? You’re, again, not qualified to offer constructive criticism. Your criticism, in any such cases, is NOT constructive, no matter what you’re telling yourself. This is a VERY important distinction, and one you can’t pretend isn’t valid just by throwing a bunch of compliments at me after telling me I’m ruining my story.

Until the day you DO understand the difference between constructive criticism, and subjective complaints? Your opinions will not be considered valuable enough to affect my story in a positive way. And the more disrespectful you show yourself, by continuing to disregard my DIRECT request for you to stop coming back with these complaints, as well as the direct request to stop sending these questions to this blog? The less your opinions will count for me. I don’t bend over backwards for anyone. And I’m definitely not going to do it for you.
