Watched Rocky Aur Rani while feverish yesterday and
1) given how much people talked about Alia Bhatt’s and Ranveer Singh’s chemistry, I was not expecting the first hour of the movie to be as *aggressively* mid as it was
2) given how mid that first hour was, I was not expecting the next 2 hours to be so soul-crushingly K3G. If I could edit the first hour and fifteen minutes into a 15-min summary I would just so you have context for the far superior second movie that kicks off after that
3) very few of the songs stuck with me like they did with K3G but Dhindora Baje Re is an allllll time. Love when someone bajes a dhol for sure. That goes for Dholi Taaro it goes for Dholida it goes for Nagada Sang Dhol and now it goes for Dhindora Baje
4) the entire movie from Dola Re/Dhindora Baje onwards is STELLAR. The last 45 minutes of the movie are top-tier acting from everyone
5) this is pure speculation and cannot possibly be true but I’m pretty sure all the crying I did in those last 45 minutes are why my fever finally broke as of this morning*
*that and the prednisolone lol
addendum) I am STUNNED no one seems to have created a gif for every frame of the Navratri scene bc Ranveer Singh in a flowy red anarkali doing kathak was to DIE FOR
addendum part 2) Anjali Anand’s arc in this movie was brief and tbh I would have gladly sacrificed a chunk of the first hour to get more of her. The fat daughter who keep getting rejected for marriage proposals and is secretly a financial whiz? I thought they would address that
a) she’s better poised to run the family business than her brother is and
b) she’s fucking GORGEOUS HELLO??? Like yes yes women should not be defined by how marriageable they are etc etc but they fail to acknowledge that she’s also just a straight-up hottie; like whenever she’s on screen they either have her in the biggest slouchiest T-shirts and sweatshirts they can find or when she’s trussed up the emphasis is always on how obvious her weight is but like
Ma’am??? I am on my KNEES I will marry you since everyone else is so fucking complicated
#temeritiveRaconteur#don’t do any time zone math on what time it is for me to be awake rn please lol

Skating on thin ice
♡ 𝒥 — [ 양정원 ] ⊹₊⟡⋆ jungwon ── .✦ f!reader ⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ . . . 𝒲𝒸 2.1𝒦
──── eyes full of 𝓆𝓊ℯ𝓈𝓉𝒾ℴ𝓃𝓈, we walk past eachother, pretending there’s no 𝒸ℴ𝓃𝓃ℯ𝒸𝓉𝒾ℴ𝓃 . . . { a lot of teasing, frenemies to lovers, fluff, crack, low self esteem, highschool drama, romance, bullying, self doubt, light angst? }
────୨ৎ────
“Y/n, I swear if I have to ask you to finish your homework once more, your phone will be on the side of the road!” Your mother yelled from across the kitchen.
Highschool has been on your back this year, everything becoming more and more difficult as the days fly by. You were never a math girl—science, sure. But math? Never. Definitely your worst subject. Nothing really ever made sense, well sometimes it did, but only in budget related stuff—of course you were only good in budgeting, shopping addict.
To make things better—Yang Jungwon, a boy who transferred just a year ago, would always pick on you for your math grades each time he’d see your note from the corner of his nosey eye. If you knew better, you’d make fun of him too—his science grade was trashy, while yours were always colourful.
He never meant any harm from it, he only does it because of the time you humiliated him in PE class when you got higher than him in the beep test, infront of all of his friends who were watching from outside your gym class. Although, your sensitive self cannot handle any insults towards your grades—especially when you’re trying all you’ve got—and still getting so low.
“Another 5? Comon now y/nnie, we’re IB students! You shouldn’t be getting this low now… didn’t you want to become a doctor?” Jungwon whispered in your ear from behind. You quickly yanked his head from your shoulder, making him jump back into place onto his seat behind you. ‘Do you ever get tired of making fun of me? Go focus on your own things.’ ‘I can’t focus on my own things when you have too many flaws…’ he said as he gave you a wink and plopped a lolly into his mouth.
As you were walking to the bus to go home, you were stopped again—by jungwon. “What do you want now, jungwon?” You said in an annoyed tone. “Hey, what’s with the attitude… I’m not here to say anything mean, unfortunately. My friend Sunghoon told me to ask you if you did ice skating, he said he saw your instagram profile and you had something about it in your bio” You were obsessed with figure skating, you claimed that you knew how to skate—when in reality, you fell the last time you tried it and now too scared to try it again. Yet, you still had it in your bio and made it seem as if you were a skater…
As a child, you didn’t do much sports like most people. You wanted to do taekwondo—too boyish for your parents. You wanted to do basketball—lost passion for it after 4th grade. You did gymnastics/dance—wasn’t as flexible as your other friends and got discouraged, slowly growing out of it. Now as a teenager, you felt the need to know a sport, but you knew that it’s only good to be actually amazing at a sport if you started it when you were young.
You went to a sports school and you were one of the only ones who never tried out for anything, too scared of people being better than you because of them doing the sports from a young age. —— “Y/n? Hello? Are you even listening to me? You loser… why are you zoning out at this time? Don’t make me scare you out of it!” Yelped the boy right next to you. “No! Okay? Get out of my face jungwon! I don’t know what you’re saying but whatever it is, no!” You forgot what he even said—too lost in thought to care. It was your stop so you had to hop off anyway.
Days pass by, it’s depressing during winter, nothing to do, especially on Christmas break. Suddenly, a loud, aggressive knock on your door catches your attention. Coming from behind it, “y/n! Y/n! Comon! I know you’re there, I can hear your grumpy sighs from here!”
As you opened the door, you were welcomed by his huge smile—jungwon’s. “Now, what on Earth are you doing here? Is it to tell my mom that-“ as you were about to finish your sentence, you spot your mom and another woman—who seems to be jungwon’s mother—walk from the driveway to your front door.
“Y/n, please welcome our guests with respect and go get the kettle ready. Now miss Yang, what do you prefer? Tea or coffee?” Said your mother before you were even able to process what was happening.
Jungwon stared at you with the biggest grin on his face—as if he planned this from the start. He stayed behind you in your house as you walked towards your kitchen, being the good daughter you are and doing what your mother telling you to do.
“Okay, so, care to tell me what you’re doing here? Did you convince your mother to become friends with mine so that you could annoy me in my own house aswell?” You asked him, avoiding eye contact at all costs—because the last thing you needed, was to add something on his list of “things to hate on y/n”.
As you turned on the kettle, filling it up with water, he responded with a more serious tone than usual “no seriously this time, they saw eachother at the supermarket near our school and recognized eachother from social media.. I didn’t believe it either when I saw my mom pull into your drive way.” How did he even know it was your house.. “and don’t ask me how I know it’s your house, you practically run off the bus and make it to your door before it can even driving.”
As Jungwon sat at the kitchen table, his usual smirk returned. “Anyway, back to the real question. Do you ice skate or not? Sunghoon won’t stop bugging me about it.”
You sighed, suddenly regretting every choice that led to you putting “figure skater enthusiast” in your Instagram bio. Avoiding his gaze, you muttered, “No, I don’t actually ice skate.”
Jungwon’s eyebrows shot up, his teasing grin reappearing. “Wait—what? But your bio—”
“I know, okay?” you snapped, crossing your arms defensively. “I just… I like watching figure skating, and I wanted to seem interesting, okay? People who are good at sports always seem so… cool. And I’m not good at anything.”
His grin faded, replaced by an unusually soft expression. “Hey, don’t say that. You’re good at plenty of things.”
You scoffed. “Name one.”
He leaned back, pretending to think. “Well, for starters, you’re great at making me laugh. Even when you’re mad. And you crushed me in that beep test, remember?”
“That doesn’t count,” you muttered, though your lips twitched upward. “I’m still not good at sports. Or anything else, really.”
Jungwon rolled his eyes. “Stop putting yourself down, y/n. You’re good at science, better than I’ll ever be. And honestly? Half the school’s scared of your sarcastic comebacks. That’s a skill.”
You couldn’t help but laugh. “Right. Sarcasm queen—what a talent.”
“Hey, it’s better than lying in your Instagram bio,” he shot back, smirking again. “But seriously, if you want to learn to ice skate, I can ask Sunghoon to help. He’s a pro.”
Your face flushed. “No way. That’s way too embarrassing.”
Jungwon leaned closer, a teasing glint in his eye. “What, afraid he’ll fall for you when he sees how graceful you are on the ice?”
“Shut up, Jungwon!” you said, shoving his shoulder, though you couldn’t stop the smile spreading across your face.
“Fine, fine,” he said, raising his hands in mock surrender. “But for the record, you don’t have to be good at sports to be cool. And you definitely don’t need a fake bio to impress anyone.”
You blinked, caught off guard by his sincerity. “Thanks, Jungwon.”
“Don’t mention it,” he said, popping another lolly into his mouth. “Just don’t expect me to stop teasing you anytime soon. That’s what friends are for.”
Friends? The word lingered in your mind, leaving a strange warmth in its wake. Maybe, just maybe, he wasn’t so bad after all.
As the days went on, Jungwon started acting… differently. It wasn’t immediate, but you noticed. The sharp teasing comments he usually threw your way softened, replaced by subtle jokes that didn’t sting as much. He even started helping you with your math homework after class, though he made it clear it was only because he “couldn’t stand watching you struggle so much.”
You weren’t sure what to make of it. Was this some elaborate scheme to catch you off guard? Or had he genuinely decided to be nice? Either way, you couldn’t help but feel a little flustered by how much time he suddenly spent around you.
It was late on a snowy Thursday afternoon when it happened. You were sitting on a bench outside the school, waiting for the bus. The air was crisp, your breath visible as you tucked your hands into your coat pockets. Jungwon appeared out of nowhere, plopping down next to you, his usual lolly in his mouth.
“Waiting for the bus again? You know, one day you’re going to freeze to death out here,” he said, nudging you with his elbow.
“Thanks for the concern,” you replied dryly, though you couldn’t help the small smile tugging at your lips.
He tilted his head, studying you for a moment. “You look tired.”
“Wow, such a compliment,” you said, rolling your eyes. “Long day, that’s all.”
“Bet you’re overthinking something again,” he said casually, leaning back on the bench.
You hesitated. “Maybe. You’re being weirdly nice lately, and I don’t know why. It’s kind of throwing me off.”
Jungwon glanced at you, his expression unreadable for once. “Weirdly nice? Wow, thanks. I didn’t realize I was such a villain before.”
“You kind of were,” you teased, though your voice was quieter this time. “But seriously. Why are you being… like this? Did you get bored of making fun of me or something?”
He chuckled, shaking his head. “You’re so dense sometimes, y/n.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” you asked, frowning.
He turned to face you fully, the teasing glint in his eyes replaced by something softer—something you couldn’t quite place. “It means… maybe I just like spending time with you. Maybe I like seeing that little smile you try to hide when you think I’m being funny. And maybe I realized I didn’t want you to think I only know how to annoy you.”
Your heart stuttered. For a second, you forgot how to breathe. “Jungwon… what are you saying?”
He sighed, his breath fogging up in the cold air. “I’m saying.. just, never mind—see you later y/n!” were the last thing he said before he left—your bus arriving at the same time.

Summary : Y/N has been infatuated with miles for a hot minute but she's too shy to say anything and to make the first move. She would never think that he knows of her or even notices her until one small incident.
A/N: Miles is any age you want him to be in the fic, New jeans dropped super shy and it goes with this fic perfectly! THANK YOU FOR THE REQ As a recovering shy person you know I had to do my big one with this one ENJOY GUYS!!! Here’s Pt.2
It was a new day at Visions Academy; you blasted Tyler the Creator in your air pods while walking through the hallways. It was soothing to sound out all the noise. You walk into your first class ELA sitting down sighing wanting to go home. You put your head down wanting to get the school day over with. You suddenly hear noises over your headphones. You look to your left, and it was Miles and his friends being loud, you roll your eyes at his friends but keep your eyes on Miles, he looked so fine with his 2 braids you thought to yourself. You didn’t even realize you were staring, Miles looked feeling eyes on him making eye contact with you grinning. You felt your heart drop to your ass, thinking that he wouldn’t even notice you. To you, you thought Miles was kind of out of your league, he was kind of popular, all the girls wanted him, and he was sooooo incredibly fine. It's not that you don’t like yourself; it was just rare seeing him around girls like you that made you feel like getting his attention was impossible but, you always had his attention you just never noticed it. You decided to stop zoning out overthinking and started doing your work occupying yourself. You nod your head to WUSYUNAME by Tyler the Creator finishing your work just in time class was over. You see everyone else packing their things and you do the same leaving the classroom, you see your friends huddled by your locker.
“HEYYY Y/N” your friend Ocean yells out, you take one of your airpods out waving at her walking up to her and your other friend.
“Hey girlies” You said with a smile
“Girl how's it going with you know who?” Your other friend Aaliyah asks
“Horrible, well not really I was staring at him and he grinned at me so you can say it's over” You huff covering your face.
“I meannnn him grinning at you is amazing he noticed you babes” Ocean stated rubbing Y/N’s back
“Yeah it's better than him screwing his face up”. Aaliyah adds while you were putting your things in your locker.
“Yeah lets just get to math before Ms.Nelson gets on our ass and she gets mad yelling at us” You stated with a laugh closing your locker walking to class.
“Oh yeah she might call my mom again on her bullshit” Ocean huffs
“Nah we need to find her a good wig she’ll be nice to us for a good 2 weeks”. Aaliyah announces.
“No fr and set her ass up on a date she needs some dick” You chimed in laughing your ass off.
“YOO yall evil for this shit she needs more like locs she can’t keep that wig shit too high maintenance for her ''. Ocean replies, it was all laughs walking to class until you bump into someone
BOOM!
Your books and their books drop on the floor and you’re incredibly embarrassed scrambling to pick your things up, trying not to crease your Jordans.
“I'm so so sorry” You say picking up their books and yours.
“No it's ok…you don’t have to pick my books up after all I bumped into you” They say catching you off guard recognizing the voice. He bends down helping you pick up the books.
“No I bumped into you it's my fault i'm sorry” Y/N apologies once again
“Stop apologizing, it's okay mamita I just need to watch where I'm going next time”. They say helping you up, the way that ‘mamita’ rolled off their tongue had you weak in the knees.
“Im Miles” He says, giving you a smile, handing you your books.

She Wanted You
JJ Maybank x Routledge!Reader
Word Count:1.4k
Warnings:none
A/n: angst bc im boycotting watching season three LOL, not my gif
“What do you mean she left?” JJ questioned, dumbfounded. He didn’t realize it, but he was walking into a war zone. The Chateau no longer had the same feel. It was like someone sucked the air out, and pumped smog in.
With tears in his eyes, John B pointed towards his sister’s room. Sarah and Pope were lingering in there, but JJ had no idea why. The room was oddly neat, incredibly out of character of the girl who resided there. Her closet was emptier than usual, the three picture frames that once had pictures of her with her family and friends were empty. What caught JJ’s eyes next, made his mouth go dry. His breath was no longer there. The navy sweatshirt he had given her years ago was folded, on the bed, next to the pillow he always claimed during their relationship. Atop the sweatshirt was a ring from a gumball machine, an orange and green friendship bracelet made of paracord, and a pile of notes written on scraps of random papers. Every other personal belonging was missing from its spot.
JJ tore through the girl’s nightstand, and when he realized the box of her life savings was gone, he let out a string of colorful words and kicked the stand.
“Here, you should read this.” Sarah handed him a neatly written note. By the tear stains on Pope’s face, the somber tone from the kook, and JB’s raging anger, it was a farewell.
He took a deep breath, and swiped the letter from Sarah. The familiar handwriting was already pulling at his heart.
J,
I’ve rewritten this letter four times already, and I still don’t know how to put my thoughts into actual words. Firstly, I love you. I love you until the waves stop coming in. I love you so much that I knew I needed to leave. I’ve known since you wandered home with John B in third grade, and gave me all the answers (even though they were wrong) to my math homework that if there was going to be another boy in my life, he was going to have to fight you for that spot. From 7 years old, I only ever wanted you. But over the last two years, I can see that I’m not the one for you. And that is why I’m leaving. One of the only things that got me through my day was seeing you smile, but I understand that there is someone else who causes those crinkles by your eyes.
I have to leave because it’s too painful. I need time to have all your kisses leave my body, I need to leave because I can’t smell the ocean, listen to Akon and Konvict, or even wash my fucking clothes without thinking of you. I see you in body language, in the waves, in every damn aspect of my life. Not only are we ingrained on this island, but you are ingrained in me. If I’m ever going to come home I need to remove every trace.
I told you last week, I’d always be on your team, even from a distance. I need you to pursue Kiara because there is nothing more I want for you than happiness. Deep down, I know it will always be her. While that sentence feels like a shot, I’m coming to terms with it.
Don’t try to come find me, either. I won’t be going to any of the places we’ve ever talked about, I do have my secrets still. Not Yucatan, not Tybee, and certainly not Jekyll. Take care of my brother.
All my love,
Y/N
“When did you and Y/N break up?” Sarah asked. JJ couldn’t even think straight. Y/N and the boy broke up about a week ago, for that specific reason, JJ thought there was something there with Kiara. He didn’t think the girl would pick up her stuff and bolt. Leave her brother, her best friends, and the life she claimed to love.
“I, uh, initiated it last week or so,” he stuttered, “it wasn’t definite or anything, but it was insinuated I guess. We had a conversation about it, but I don’t think I ever could have said it out loud.”
“Oh,” she thought. “You know she really loved you with every bone in her body.”
He sucked in a deep breath to try to keep his tears at bay. How could he walk out to the front room and face John B. He was the reason the youngest Routledge had left. With Big John gone, she was all he had left. Hell, with Luke gone, she was all JJ had too. In some form he robbed his friends of a family member.
JJ laid down on the neatly made bed and latched onto the sweatshirt that smelled just like her. His memory flooded with images of Y/n in that sweatshirt. From it covering her bikini when they went night swimming, it being the one sweatshirt that was specifically for after she came home from school, the one thing that grounded her when she was having a rough day. JJ felt his chest start to tighten, and his hands were clammy and shaking.
“I thought you said you’d never break her heart!” JB screamed. Impeccable timing.
“John B don’t–” Sarah tried to interject.
“No Sarah, he promised. He promised me almost three years ago that if I gave him permission to date Y/n, he wouldn’t hurt her. He knew he’d be breaking more than just her heart. And now I can’t even help her pick up the pieces. I can’t fix my baby sister, the way she fixed each and every one of us!”
“Bro, you think this is what I wanted? I had a conversation with her. Nothing was definitive. It’s not my fault she took her shit and ran!”
“When has Y/n ever not taken her feelings and ran? Name one time!”
JJ sat there in thought, and there had been one time she didn’t run, and he had promised that he wouldn’t tell. He was going to anyway.
“When you disappeared. I held her while she cried herself to sleep for nights on end. So don’t act like I never treated her right. You know I did.” JB ran his hands through his hair and left the room.
“Until you decided you may have feelings for the girl who is like her big sister.” That stung.
“What’s going on?” Kie asked.
“She’s gone.” John B said. “‘Cuz JJ’s in love with you.”
~~
JJ sat in the hammock, wearing the navy sweatshirt he hadn’t worn in years. It smelled just like her. He could even feel the marks of where she rolled the sleeves and dug her thumbs into the side.
He barely remembered last week’s conversation about Kie, but never did he think that it would cause you to disappear. Y/n was so incredibly loyal. She wanted him. Every. Damn. Day. She wanted him when the clouds were out, and the usually blue sky was gray. She wanted him when he was bruised and beat up, she wanted him when he was crabby after a 14 hour shift, she wanted him at every hour of the day in any way she could have him.
It was just a conversation, he thought. He never flat out said that he was leaving her for the tanned, wealthy kook.
He felt so fucking stupid. He felt so much self-hatred. He remembered when they were 12 and 14, and Y/n wanted to walk to the gas station a few streets over, but John B wouldn’t go with her. He remembered what she usually bought. Peach iced tea, sour straws and a bag of munchie mix. Every single time.
He remembered when the girl got drunk for the first time and dialed him to come get her. God, she was so inebriated. She clung to the boy, giggling profusely. That was the first night she ever told the boy she loved him. Y/n never knew it, but JJ kept that memory locked in his head.
He pondered the time she was ready to give him her virginity. He remembered how nervous she was, but how much she trusted him.
It had grown dark by the time he wandered back into the Chateau. He was surprised JB didn’t kick him out, he fully expected to be out on the streets by now. As he stumbled towards the bedrooms, he went past his own, and fully dove into the light purple sheets he had come to love. She’ll come back, he thought. She has to.

I'll always be your safe space, drabble
masterlist
summary: when you come home overwhelmed from a long day of school, all you want is to feel safe and unwind. Lucky for you, your mom and dad are home to comfort you with whatever you need
pairing: Natasha x autistic daughter reader, Bucky x autistic daughter reader
warnings: none I think?
genre: fluff
words: 858
a/n: hello lovelies, this fic is based on how I experience my autism. please keep in my mind that while maybe your autism might not act this way, that doesn’t make it a wrong representation 🫶
(I was diagnosed by a therapist, please don’t hate on me. I’ve never posted about my autism before because I’ve been afraid of wrong accusations)
You do not have my permission to repost, copy or translate my work
|——————————— ⴵ ———————————|
Everything had gone wrong today. You woke up with your pyjama pants twisted around your legs and your socks were half off. On top of that, you missed your first alarms, and so you had to wait till 7.30 to get out of bed, instead of 7.15.
Your days had started off terrible, and it was only getting worse. When you went to get dressed, you discovered the outfit you had planned in your head, was in the wash, and so you had to settle for a different one.
You ran out of your favourite breakfast yesterday, and Bucky had forgotten to buy it, so you had to settle with a bowl of simple cereal instead.
When you had gotten to school it seemed like everyone had it out for you.
The classes were too loud, and the teachers were annoying. Everytime you zoned out, or decided to doodle a bit to calm down, the teachers called you out and told you to pay attention.
Once you got to maths, the teacher had actually given you detention for doodling instead of listening to her lesson. You tried to explain that by doodling you could focus on what she was saying better, but she wouldn’t hear it.
Therefore, after the school day, which had already left you insanely overstimulated, you still had to sit through an hour of detention.
After you were finally done, you realised there were no busses driving at this time, so you had to call your mom to come pick you up. Of course, Natasha was happy to do so, and when she opened the door for you, she immediately sensed your mood.
She didn’t try to talk to you in the car, rather just handed you your headphones and allowed you to go in your own little bubble.
Once you got home, Natasha had opened your door, letting you out of the car, being careful not to touch you. After you two had gotten up to the apartment, she opened the door for you, allowing you to walk in first.
Bucky was at the kitchen island getting some work done, yet when you walked in he immediately shut his laptop.
He greeted you with a smile but you didn’t acknowledge him.
Instead, you kicked your shoes off, heading for the couch and letting yourself fall onto it. Natasha gave Bucky a glance, letting him know what was going on. Of course, he understood immediately, getting up and preparing you a cup of hot chocolate, that, according to you, only he could make properly so that it wouldn’t be too sweet or too watery.
Natasha took it upon herself to grab your favourite blanket and made sure to grab your some inside clothing, walking to the couch and letting you get changed.
You had specific inside and outside clothing, and after wearing your clothing outside, it was impossible for you to sit on any furniture in your room with your outside clothing still on.
After you had gotten changed, Natasha helped you get comfortable on the couch, finally starting to speak.
“Would you like to watch something, cuddle, or be alone for a moment?” Natasha asked you gently, wiping some stray hairs from your face. You shrugged, not being sure of anything at the moment.
After a minute or two Bucky walked into the living room, three mugs of hot chocolate in his hands. He had made sure to use your hot chocolate mug, which was different from you cold chocolate milk mug, and he made sure to use the proper spoon.
He handed you the mug, and you smiled slightly, leaning forward to give him a kiss on his cheek.
He knew you weren’t up for speaking right now, and he didn’t dare think about pushing you. He always valued the physical affection you used to express your gratitude.
You sat up on the couch, your favourite blanket draped over you, comfortably weighing you down.
It was then that you decided you wanted to watch your comfort show, but you didn’t feel like talking, yet you didn’t know how else to express yourself. You though for a moment before turning to Natasha, looking at her with pleading eyes.
“Do you need something my love?” she asked, softly stroking your hair.
You nodded and motioned at the tv. Whether it was the fact that they were both highly trained assassins, or the fact that they were your parents, both of them immediately knew what you meant, and they didn’t hesitate to turn your comfort show on.
They waited for you to initiate the cuddling session, and they allowed you to snuggle into them when you were ready.
You put your now empty mug down and leaned your head over to Bucky, snuggling into his warm, strong arms and letting yourself feel safe in his embrace. You laid your legs over Natasha’s legs, and she smiled as she say you and Bucky being so close.
She might not ever admit it, but there was nothing in the world that would ever make her more happy than seeing her child snuggled up with her dad.

also awsten writes a lot about exes so there weren’t many songs to choose from (from a non-angst standpoint point). the entirety of greatest hits is also not on here bc that man just wrote an entire banger of an album about having shitty mental health… he’s so real for that 🙂↕️
yes the colours of the lyrics match the colours of the era… sue me
is this proofread??? uhhhhhhh🧍🏻♀️
park seonghwa - sleep alone
‘i feel dead and a half, but you’re making me laugh’
miserable; that’s the only word to describe how you feel. with a stuffed up nose and a tickle in your throat that just won’t seem to leave, you’ve found yourself wanting nothing more than to stay in bed with a hot bowl of broth. you know it would help you more than the cold tablets have done, the wretched things keeping you drowsy and dull. it only serves to make you feel that much more awful.
but the clatter you hear from downstairs brings a weak smile to your face. the sound of a metal ladle against a ceramic dish makes your heart pitter-patter in a strange mix of excitement and adoration. you’re not sure which you’re hungrier for; the soup, or seeing your boyfriend poke his head into the room. it’s not difficult for you to admit how much you’ve missed him this past week, able to hear his soft snores coming from the guest room, but unable to see his tired face next to yours.
until of course, this morning.
he’s been avoiding you like the plague until roughly 7:34 am when you were rudely awoken by a pair of arms snaking themselves around your waist. you’d mumbled something incoherent about not wanting him to get sick, but he silenced you with a quick peck to your lips. “i don’t mind getting sick for you, darling,” he whispered against your lips, “i don’t like sleeping alone; you’ll never have to do it again.”
it brings a soft smile to your face to remember how difficult it had been for him to unravel himself from you to grab a portion of the soup he’d made just a few days prior. he’d whined into your neck like a puppy, telling you all sorts of pretty things about how hard it is to abandon you while you’re in such a state. you’d giggled at him, the sound quickly devolving into a coughing fit that finally convinced him to get up and grab you that soup. if you knew that would be all it took, you’d have faked a coughing fit much sooner.
kim hongjoong - peach (lobotomy)
‘you found me, and finders keep’
“i wrote a song for you,” hongjoong’s voice fills your ears the second you pick up the phone. it’s eager and bubbly, clearly full of enthusiasm for whatever it is that he’s made. you nod, despite his inability to see you, before you remember exactly what it was that you wanted to do.
“isn’t it like 3am where you are?” you scold him gently, taking a glance at your clock just to make sure you’d got it right. it takes a moment of two to do the maths in your head, but sure enough, you’re right. it’s 3am and your boyfriend sounds more awake than you do. “what are you still doing up, hongjoong?”
he chuckles nervously, clearly understanding the direction of the conversation. perhaps he should have called you as a more believable time of day, but then again, if he did that then there wouldn’t be much point to what he’s done. he stayed synced up to your time zone for a reason; so he’d never have to be awake without you.
“it’s not late over there, though,” is his justification. he says it like it explains everything to you, yet it only serves to leave you more confused than you were at the beginning of the conversation. you don’t argue, not having nearly as much energy as hongjoong seems to, despite the time difference. “besides, i’ve been busy! sleep could wait until after i’d finished my latest creation.”
you sigh, “hongjoong—”
“nope!” he cuts you off, a smile evident in his voice, “you’re the reason that i spent so long hunched over my computer making this; you have to be the first person to hear it.”
jeong yunho - i’ll always be around
‘i’m dying to be your everything… everything’
“if i died tomorrow,” it’s an odd start to a question, but as you lay on the roof of your apartment, hand in hand with your boyfriend, it just seemed right. it’s moments like this where you feel you can get all those silly thoughts out there; would you love me if i was a worm? do you think snails are sentient? and of course, if i died tomorrow— “what would you do?”
there’s a deep chuckle from yunho, grabbing your attention from the stars and stealing it all for himself. your turn your head, choosing instead to look at the man you believe holds the universe in the palm of his hands. although the stars are pretty, the twinkle that lies in his eyes when he casts them upon your face is much better to gaze upon. why would you want to stare at the far away stars when you have a much brighter one so much closer.
“i’d learn necromancy,” he smiles in a manner that is so infectious that you can’t help but join him, “and if that doesn’t work, then i’d just have to hope you’d haunt me.”
“haunt you?” you ask incredulously, “wouldn’t you be scared if things started going bump in the night?” he shakes his head, and honestly you believe him. there’s not much yunho would admit to being scared of, especially not the concept of ghosts. “well, how would you know it’s me and not just some other random dead person who’s taken up residence in our apartment?”
“oh, i’d know,” he turns into his side to get a better look at you, “in the same way i know you’re not going to die tomorrow, idiot.”
you can’t help but laugh a little at that.
“you’re right,” there’s a knowing grin on his face when you agree with him, “i’ll always be around.”
kang yeosang - sneaking out of heaven
‘if i’m not brainwashed then i’m trying to be’
he must be an angel given to you from above. with the way he treats you so gently, soft words and even softer touches, it’s not hard to believe. his beauty even matches that of a heavenly being, leaving you breathless and in awe each and every time your gaze falls upon him. he must’ve snuck out from beneath his master’s gaze to come down and visit you; it’s the only explanation as to why he’s sat beside you in your car, carefully crafting a driving playlist for your enjoyment.
“what song next?” he asks, deep voice sending shivers up and down your spine. it takes everything you have to keep your eyes on the road, although you’re sure that death by staring at your boyfriend would be an excellent way to go. “i was thinking something of a similar genre but maybe a bit more… exciting. i think i’ve let the mood drop a little with my last few choices.”
you don’t mind, although you very rarely do when it comes to yeosang. he knows best, is what you tell yourself when you hopelessly agree to everything he says. honestly, if he told you to go swimming with a group of blood thirsty piranhas, you’d probably do it without a second thought. how could you say no to someone like him?
“put whatever you want on, sangie,” you say, “whatever you choose will be good, i’m sure of it.”
he hums in uncertainty, “but you’re the one driving!” oh, so considerate… he’s perfect, “surely you should get to choose, right?”
“i am choosing,” you argue, “i’m choosing whatever it is that you want on, my angel.”
choi san - telephone
‘i’m living on a target and you shot it with an arrow’
as far as first dates go, this might be the strangest you’ve ever been on. call it love at first sight, or just pure, simple infatuation, you don’t care. all you know is that you need to know everything about this man. what can you say, you’re invested?
“what do your parents do?” you ask, trying to keep your voice from wavering too much and giving up your true feelings. sure, you might be in far too deep to go back, but you can still appreciate this for what it is; a first meeting between two strangers. the last thing you’d want to do is scare san away by being overly excitable by something as simple as his presence.
play it cool, maybe then you’ll get somewhere.
“oh, you know,” he shrugs, clearly not too excited by the question you’ve posed. perhaps it is a little surface level. maybe you were too focussed on making yourself seem normal that you’ve made yourself seem uninterested instead! it’s fine, you tell yourself, you can recover from this. “they just do a bit of everything really. we lived in the country my whole childhood so there weren’t exactly many fancy office jobs going…”
“oh, you’re from the country?” you light up with interest, happy with the tiny piece of information that you can definitely use to your advantage. “why’d you move here? any big plans, or just a change of scenery?”
he seems to light up at that question, smiling as you give him a gateway to talk about his future dreams for a few minutes. as the words tumble from his lips, passion oozes from them. every single word is full of excitement and glee, and as he rambles on and on about his future, you realise that you’re more than happy to just sit and listen and imagine yourself as a part of it all.
song mingi - funeral gray
‘i know your dying wish is to be baptised in my spit’
“i didn’t take you for much of a smoker,” a deep voice calls from your left, the tall guy you’d shared a quick conversation with earlier taking a step closer to you. he’d looked pretty under the flashing lights of the club but right now, lit by nothing but the moonlight and the dim flickering of the smoking area sign, he looks even better. his sharp features are illuminated in such a way that you’re sure they might cut you if you get too close. maybe you’re just attracted to danger, you think to yourself as you take a step closer. “that’ll kill you, y’know.”
it’s a snarky remark, meant to be taken as tongue and cheek if the annoyingly handsome grin on his lips is anything to go by. maybe if you had another drink in you, you might have leant forwards to kiss it right off of his lips. for now, although the temptation to press your lips to his is very much there, you settle for blowing a stream of smoke at him.
he waves his hand, clearing the grey cloud in mere seconds. there’s a look of mirth on his features, which only serves to make you giggle. “now you’re going to die too!” you jest, moving your hand up to take another drag. the man mutters something about you being annoying, to which you have to agree; there’s just something so fun about getting under the skin of a man you’ve never met before. it just makes it that much more satisfying when by the end of the night, you have them wrapped around your pinkie.
“what’s your name anyway?” he purrs, pushing his back against the same brick wall you’d found yourself leaning against. you shoot him a cocky look.
“you’ve got to work much harder to get that information out of me, pretty boy.”
jung wooyoung - dream boy
‘cause i was born to be your favourite’
it was a fairly easy question that had been posed to you, one that you would’ve answered within seconds on any other day, yet right now you seem to be struggling. the answer is right there at the forefront of your mind, sitting on the very tip of your tongue. realistically, it shouldn’t be that hard to come out with it, yet as wooyoung stares you down, you find yourself swallowing the answer and shrugging instead.
“oh, come on!” he whines, leaning forward to poke at your shoulder with a strangely sharp finger. you wince, yet your friend seems to have other things to care about that your pain right now. “you have to have a type! just… build him from the ground up! pick his pieces.”
any other time you would’ve answered with a smile. long black hair and sharp brown eyes, a tongue that could rival the sharpest of wits and a laugh that any self-respecting witch would be jealous of. you know exactly what you want and he’s sitting right in front of you.
“i really don’t care what my future boyfriend looks like!” you insist, giving your friend a fake laugh when he rolls his eyes and scoffs. perhaps if you’d have been paying more attention you would’ve noticed the slight smirk that he wears.
“oh, please,” he purrs, shifting until he’s sitting on his haunches, towering above you. things move quickly and suddenly his arms are either side of you, caging you between him and the arm of the sofa. “i’ve seen the way you stare at me; i know i’m your dream boy.”
choi jongho - brainwashed
‘everything’s clean except for my thoughts’
you don’t do relationships. you never have and you told yourself that you never would. it’s just not you, being tied down to one person while there’s a whole world of other people outside your door. why kiss just one person when you could kiss anyone you meet? it’s just so freeing to not box yourself in like that.
so what the fuck are you doing here? with jongho’s arms wrapped around your waist like he never wants to let you go, your fingers laced in his hair like you feel exactly the same. it was just meant to be a one night stand, and yet you’re still here! you’re still at his house a week later. what the fuck is wrong with you?
“you have work, right?” jongho groans into your shoulder, pressing his soft lips to your skin just below your earlobe. it sets something alight within your, your heartbeat quickening and your stomach stirring. something so domestic would never have had that affect on you before, so why now? why with him? you push the question out of your mind and simply nod.
you do have work today, and maybe today will be the day that you go home to your own apartment, not jongho’s.
“do you want me to fetch you lunch?” he whispers, grazing his teeth against your earlobe in a way that sends shivers down your spine. you scrunch your eyes closed, trying your rid your mind of all the filthy thoughts that are suddenly racing through your brain. “is that a no?” he chuckles lowly in your ear, “or have you just got something else on your mind?”
something else entirely. a carnal need to stay home and let him take care of you like he has done every other day this week. what’s another sick day added to the list? you’re sure your boss must think you’re dying or something with the amount you’ve had off since that first night with jongho, yet you don’t seem to care.
and as he pressed another lengthy kiss to your neck, you find yourself not caring about the no relationship rule too. you can make an exception for the man that seems to have you brainwashed.

The Youngest Toretto || GN!Reader (Longer Version)
•Summary• You are the youngest Toretto sibling. ⚠️Warning’s⚠️ Blood, Major Character death, slight swearing, slight violence, gun, gun wound, Angst might make you cry might not. •A/N• Please let me know if any mistakes. I did try to make this gender neutral but let me know if J should change anything. This is not proof read.
*** You were sitting in the cafe finishing off some last minute homework while Mia was behind the counter making sure that you finished it correctly. You then heard a car pull up outside and turned your head to see Brian walking over. “Mia look who’s here” you teased Mia just stared at you clearly annoyed at you “just do your homework” she huffed before smiling at Brian as he entered the cafe and sat down next to you.
“Homework, huh?” He said looking at your book “mind your own business tuna breath.” You replied not even looking up from your book. A couple minutes later of trying to do maths while having to listen to Brian and Mia talk to each other you heard a familiar sound before turning around and seeing all of Doms friends enter the cafe “hey YN mind if I sit there?” Vince asked while leaning against the counter.
“ But I’m here,” you responded “Just move!” Vince said clearly running out of patience so you packed up your stuff before moving to the other side of the counter “asshole” you whispered under your breath making sure you where just loud enough so that Vince could hear you he looked at you surprised at the response before sitting down next to Brian and starting a conversation about something.
You had only zoned out for a couple of minutes before looking over and seeing Vince and Brian throwing punches at each other.
The fight had gotten the attention of your older brother Dom who hadn’t gone out to stop it yet “DOM! As much as I enjoy seeing tuna breath over there being beat up I don’t really feel like having to deal with a dead body today!” You exhaled looking him dead in the eye for a second before he finally walked out to break up the fight you following him with a glass of water in your hand.
After Dom broke up the fight you threw the glass of water on Vince’s head “what you need to cool off” you chuckled “fuck you YN” Vince said back “HEY. TAKE A WALK VINCE” Dom shouted in his face “and YN get inside” “but-“ “GET INSIDE” Dom shouted losing his patience. You rolled your eyes before giving him the finger and walking off Mia right behind you.
“YN you can’t just do stuff like that.” She scolded. “Come on you have to admit it was funny.” You laughed but stopped when you noticed Mia wasn’t laughing.
“Don’t you have homework” she said stepping back behind the bar. “Already done.” You quickly placed your books into your backpack.
“I’m bored I’m going home” you said slinging your bag over your shoulders. “What, by yourself? But it’s starting to get dark.” She said worry in her tone.
“I’ll be fine I have my bike.” You said confidently and if you were being honest you didn’t think anyone was stupid enough to go after the little sibling of Dominic Toretto.
“You know Dom doesn’t like you riding home alone after 5pm. He’ll kill me if he finds out I let you and then kill you for for being stupid enough to go by yourself.” She said thinking that would be enough to keep you there.
“Well been nice knowing you see you on the other side.” You joked walking out the back door hearing Mia call your name as you secured your helmet before riding off.
It had gotten really dark by the time you were almost home. Normally you would already be home by now but with construction on your normal route you had to take a back alleyway. You knew Dom would already be angry so you decided it best if you kept that part to your self.
As you were pushing your bike up the driveway when you heard a gun fire. You rushed to get inside as you saw the car drive by with someone hanging out the passenger door with a gun but you suddenly you felt a a sharp hot pain in your lower stomach.
You fell to your knees the pain being to much. You heard the car drive off with whoever fired the gun laughing. Was this how you were going to die. You placed your hand over the bullet hole feeling the hot liquid cover your hand looking down you saw your top had turned red.
You where losing blood fast and you knew that you would die, die with out seeing your siblings again, die without graduating, die and miss out on so much but you would be able to see your parents again and knowing that brought you a slight sense of comfort.
“YN! YN!” You heard your name the voice sounded familiar but it was muffled and you thought it was miles away. You saw a bright light of a car but it looked like there were multiple. Then it all went dark you heard nothing and you knew that you had taken your last breath the pain finally going away.
•The others POV•
“Wait so let me get this straight you thought it was a good idea to allow YN to go home alone when it’s almost dark.” Mia had just finished explaining to Dom where you were after he had come back inside with the others and noticed your absence.
“I tried to stop her but she wouldn’t listen and just walked out.” Mia tried her best to defend herself but knew that if anything happened to you she was responsible.
“Ok everyone get in your cars we’re going to my house.” Dom announced to the gang. “Hopefully they’re there.” He whispered that part under his breath not want to stress his sister out more then she already was. He knew that you were probably already there but this was a dangerous town they lived in and Dom had made a lot of enemies, enemies who he knew would do anything to get revenge even bring a innocent teenager into it if it meant it got to him.
As they were driving down the street he and his family lived on he heard two gunshots ring through the air moments apart from each other. He sped up hoping to find you inside the house safe and sound.
Once they pulled up to the house Dom was horrified to see his little sibling on the ground bleeding out.
“YN! YN!” He called out as he approached your body the others only a few steps behind. Mia pushed him aside and knelt down next to you. Your eyes were blank and you were in a pool of your own blood.
Tears started to escape her eyes. “Hey.. hey YN look we’re all here the whole gang is here for you… you’re gonna be alright, yeah.. please say something. YN? Please” Her voice broke this was her fault if she tried harder then you would Still be here.
“YN please I’m sorry I’m so so sorry… YN come on say something” She cradled your head in her lap pushing pieces of her away from your face.
“Mia they’re gone.” Vince said as he tried to pull you away. “NO! NO! They’re not gone… they can’t be.” She cried into Vince’s arms as Dom was comforted by Letty. He wasn’t one to cry but he had just lost his little sibling someone who had practically raised.
Vance picked Mia up pulling her away from your body that was now cold. She continued to cry as Letty led her and Dom inside while Vince, Leon and Jesse handled your body.
•Brian’s POV•
Brian went into the house where they were operating everything the next day no idea about the devastating news he was about to hear about the Teretto family.
“O’Conner my office now.” Sargent Tanner ordered. “What’s going on” Brian asked sensing the seriousness about the situation.
“Do you know anything about a shooting at the Toretto house.” Brian was shocked he knew Dominic had enemies but didn’t think they would try and kill somebody.
“No.. what happened?” Now he was scared what if Mia had gotten injured yes he only knew her for a short amount of time but he was really starting to have feelings for her.
“You know the youngest one.. what was their name again.. uhh-“
“YN” Brian was pretty sure he knew where this was going and he prayed that he was wrong.
“Yeah YN they were shot didn’t make it died within a few minutes.” Sargent Tanner said not a shred of empathy going right back to his cigarette.
“Oh… umm… wow they were so young hadn’t even finished high school yet.” Even though Brian barely knew you, you were still a kid who had done nothing wrong and had actually been getting good grades.
“Yeah sure sure.. oh well that’s one less problem we have to deal with, probably had no future anyway. The killer probably did the world a favor.” The Sargent said not even looking up from the file in his hands.
“What the hell man! Look I know that we’re trying to bust Dominic but YN had nothing to do with what he’s doing ok. They were a good kid and didn’t deserve to die so young.” Sargent Tanner was shoulder by Brian’s outburst.
“Yeah… umm yeah sorry” Sargent Tanner apologized before dismissing Brian.
•Mia’s POV•
Mia was heart broken she had just lost her little sibling and all she could think of how she won’t get to see you grow up how she won’t be able to hear you laugh or see your eyes light up when you talk about something that you love ever again and all because she couldn’t stop you. Now instead of helping you with homework or watching bad romcoms with you she was sitting before your grave your favorite stuffed animal in front of it with a bouquet of white roses. You where gone you where really gone.

Is it time for a Steddie time travel fix-it AU? (yes)
A03
There’s something wrong with Steve Harrington.
It’s not that Eddie’s watching him. Not that he pays any special attention to him. But the guy is noticeable. He’s the closest thing Hawkins has to royalty: Rich. Star athlete. Attractive. He’s the cliche golden boy of every teen movie with his polos and letterman jacket and vacant, pretty smile as he walks down hallways with his arm around the girl-of-the-week. He’s a predictable staple; a static figure in the horror script that is Eddie’s high school existence.
So when Steve Harrington shows up to school on an otherwise ordinary Wednesday looking and acting really fucking different, Eddie notices.
Well, he doesn’t actually look all that different. The clothes are normal. But his hair is far from its typical careful coiffure, and there’s a frantic energy to him as he shoves his way through the double doors and jogs into the empty hallway.
He doesn’t see Eddie, tucked in the bathroom alcove.
The only people at the school this early are the marching band kids, wrapping up their hellishly early practice, and Eddie, waiting to sell to a tuba player with no concept of how much weed should actually cost. Eddie has no intention of informing him.
Steve Harrington, pacing in front of a segment of lockers, checking his watch, shoving his fingers through his hair, is wildly out-of-place in the bright-lit early-morning hallway.
And then, things get weirder.
Because Robin Buckley exits the band room and they both freeze.
“Fuck,” she says, “are you––”
“Rob,” Steve says, and it's the most gut-wrenching sound Eddie has maybe ever heard in his life.
She throws herself at him and they hug like—Eddie doesn’t even know. Like the people you see on the news from war zones who thought their family had been killed before a miraculous reunion.
“Are you ok?” she asks, voice cracked and carrying in the empty hallway. “I woke up this morning and my mom was just acting like everything was normal and I had to get to practice and I thought maybe it had all been some fucked up dream but even I’m not that creative.” She pushes away from him, tugging up the bottom of his shirt, “what about––are you––?”
He grabs her wrist, shaking his head. “No, I’m fine. I’m completely fine. I’m just…1983 me.”
What the fuck, Eddie thinks.
Well, he’s already been thinking that, but. What does that even mean? What else would he be?
“Are the kids ok?”
What kids?
“I don’t know. I don’t have a walkie or anything anymore it’s all––” Steve gestures, “reset. And if this is ‘83 then they’re all actual children again, El might not even be––and what if they don’t––”
“They have to. I mean, if we do, they have to, right?”
Are they on drugs? Is he on drugs? The blunt he smoked last night shouldn’t cause hallucinations. He pinches himself. Ow.
The band hall doors open again and Eddie shifts further into the alcove as several horn players walk past.
“We can figure things out after school,” Steve murmurs. “We just have to hold it together until then. I don’t know if we’re stuck here or not but if we are––”
“Right. Act normal. Just normal, 16-year-old Robin things. No problem.”
They grab each other again, a tight, desperate, embrace that is not at all normal, Eddie feels it’s important to point out. He didn’t even think that Harrington knew Buckley existed. It’s almost as strange as if Harrington decided to hug Eddie. Inexplicable.
They separate, Robin rubbing at her eyes and Harrington muttering something about not remembering his locker combination. Eddie’s customer arrives before he can decide if he wants to investigate things further.
Focusing in his first period is even more impossible than usual. Focusing on math is tedious enough normally, but when Robin Buckley and Steve Harrington are having some sort of shared nervous breakdown it’s even harder to care about logarithmic functions.
He sees Steve again in the hallway after first period and Eddie will admit he’s actively looking for him now. Steve is talking in hushed tones to Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Beyers of all people. His hair is an absolute wreck, and his posture is…Eddie doesn’t know how to describe it. 'Aggressive' isn’t quite right but it’s close.
And then, like Harrington has some sort of intuition he’s being watched, he glances up and meets Eddie’s eyes.
Eddie doesn’t know why he runs. His fight or flight instincts have been well-honed his 4 years at Hawkins High and there’s something about the feral-ness in Steve’s stance, the completely unfathomable emotion in his eyes, that has Eddie shoving his way around the corner and into the bathroom. He drops his lunchbox into the sink and pushes both hands into his hair with a quietly muttered: “fuck.” He feels like he might be going crazy.
The door opens.
“Eddie,” Steve says.
It sounds strangely similar to the way he’d said “Rob” that morning–full of something Eddie doesn’t understand.
“Harrington,” he says warily.
Steve takes two steps forward and Eddie automatically scrambles backward, running into the wall and bashing his elbow against the paper towel dispenser. Steve has never actually hurt him before, but some of the guys he hangs out with have and—
Steve freezes: both hands out, reaching for nothing.
“You don’t—?”
There’s a question, there, but Eddie has no idea what it is.
“Eddie?” he says again. This time, it’s desperate and Eddie has no idea why.
The only time he’s ever seen someone’s eyes look like this is when he was looking at his own reflection in the church’s bathroom mirror, clinging to the sink at his mother’s funeral.
“Yeah?” Eddie asks.
Steve’s jaw works. “You don’t remember,” he says blankly.
“Remember what? You’re kinda freaking me out, dude, which is impressive, considering,” he gestures expansively to himself, gives a little shake of his hips so the chains rattle.
Steve doesn’t laugh.
“You don’t remember,” he repeats, more to himself than Eddie. “But you’re ok?”
He’s looking at Eddie’s chest.
“Yes? A-okay. Tip top. Hagan barely touched me yesterday, if that’s what you’re talking about.”
“Tommy hurt you?” Steve says.
Well, shit. The crazy eyes are back.
“Man, why do you care?”
“Sorry,” Steve says. “I’m sorry, I know this doesn’t make any sense to you, but can I just–”
Eddie lets him approach, this time. Lets him reach out to touch. It’s just one hand, at first, tentative, like Steve is expecting to be rebuffed, palm cupped to the ball of his shoulder over his jacket. “Sorry,” he says again, letting go only to reach for the hem of Eddie’s shirt, “Sorry, I know I probably sound crazy, I just––” he pulls it up, stares at Eddie’s side, and then lets out a hysterical little noise that sounds like a cross between a laugh and a sob.
“You’re ok,” he says.
His fingers are hot on Eddie’s skin, pressed light and shockingly reverent to the space between his hip and rib cage.
“You’re ok,” he repeats. It sounds like he’s trying to convince himself.
“Hey,” Eddie says, it comes out more breathless than he’d prefer but Steve fucking Harrington has him backed against a wall in a bathroom with his hands up Eddie’s shirt so he thinks a little lack of air is warranted. “Are you ok?”
The fingers on his abdomen flex.
“No,” Steve says. His eyes are wide and fathomless and the look on his face is terrible. “No, I’m not even remotely ok.”
It sounds like a confession.
Steve lets go of Eddie’s shirt.
He takes a studied step back but then stops, palm still splayed on Eddie’s side, free hand reaching for Eddie’s arm, for his elbow, to cling, like he can’t quite force himself to stop touching; not yet. He’s looking at Eddie like Eddie has broken his heart which doesn’t make any sense because they don’t know each other. They’ve never spoken directly to each other in their lives. So there’s no reason that Steve should be looking at him, like, like––
Like he is.
They’re breathing each other’s second-hand air and Eddie can smell him and there have only been a few times in his life when a boy has looked at Eddie with even half the want that Steve Harrington is looking at him with now. And never, never has a man who looks like Steve Harrington looked at Eddie with anything approaching whatever the hell is on Steve’s face.
“Eddie,” Steve says, and he sounds so lost.
Eddie’s not proud of it.
He runs away.
He shoves Steve to the side, wrenches open the door, and runs without stopping through the hall, outside, down the sidewalk, and onto the main road. He runs until he has to stop because he can’t breathe and only then does he bend over, hands braced on knees, and look behind him. He almost expects to see Steve has followed him.
He hasn’t.
Eddie can't decide if he's relieved by that or not. And then he realizes he’s left his entire stash in the lunchbox in the bathroom.
“Fuck,” he hisses, straightening, hands on his head, lungs aching.
“Fuck,” he says again, just for the hell of it.
He has no idea what’s happening.
But what he does know is that something is seriously wrong with Steve Harrington.
Pt2 here.

Escape - Gareth Emerson x Reader
Summary: You and Gareth get paired for the most important art project of the semester.
Warnings: Slow burn, idiots in love, caring for Gareth's sisters.
WC: 4,730
Notes: I'm in recovery for surgery, so updates will be slow. Shout out to @ashes-writing for being my absolute bestie and letting me bounce ideas.
1 / 2 / 3
PART 1
“Okay, class, you’ll work as partners for your final project.” Mr. Greely the art teacher stated, earning a cheer from the class. “I wouldn’t cheer so fast. I paired you up myself. This project is to make art based on what you learn about your partner, hence the little questionnaire at your tables. It can be a painting, drawing, or sculpture. Any audio recordings or mixed tapes will be given a zero. This is art, not band.
You rolled your eyes, but not because you wouldn’t be working with Tiffany, the only other cheerleader in the class, but because there was a chance you’d have to work with one of the meatheaded basketball players. You didn’t really want to work with her either, but that was a whole other can of worms.
Mr. Greely droned on, only catching your attention when he said your name. “You’ll be working with Emerson.”
Your eyes widened, which caught the attention of a few of your classmates who began to giggle. The panic was not from the boy himself, rather the fear you would accidentally fall harder for him if you got to really know him. Your focus was disrupted by shuffling next to you as Gareth settled into the desk paired with yours. “Hi.” You said softly, meek almost.
Gareth assumed this was due to disdain for him, presented a bit more politely. He did hear the giggles after all. “What’s up?” Not a question, just a simple acknowledgement to your greeting.
You studied his side profile, debating the different art forms you could use to relay the puffy haired metalhead next to you.
“You have a month to complete this project. Oh, and, your partner will be grading you on how well they think you relay them to the world. That does have an effect on the overall grade, so get to know each other.” Mr. Greely finished as the bell rang.
“So, I don’t know if you’re busy tonight with it being Friday and all, but my house is free tonight if you want to come do the questionnaire.” You offered sweetly as you packed your notebook into your bag.
“I, uh, have to watch my sisters tonight, but, if you want to, I mean, you can come to my place.” His nerves were apparent, which made you smile.
“Yeah, I’ll find you at lunch and finalize the details.” You gripped the strap to your backpack and turned to meet Tiffany at the door.
She sputtered out a laugh as she glanced over her shoulder to Gareth. “You really got paired with the freak, huh?”
You couldn’t stop the eye roll. “Tiff, I’ve known him since forever. He’s a sweet guy. Just because he listens to different music and doesn’t dress the same doesn’t make him a freak.” You replied, trying to keep your tone level so as to not snap at the head of the cheerleading team.
“He plays a fucking fantasy game, babe. It’s weird.” She chirps back as if it was common knowledge.
“It’s an escape. Everyone has an escape. You totally zone out when you cheer. That’s your escape.” You’re fully annoyed now, but not showing it, which is hard due to the fact that she just laughs, mumbling a “Whatever.” under her breath.
You break off into your math class and sit next to Eddie Munson. “Hey, Eddie.” You say, catching his attention.
He peeks around you, looking around.
“What are you doing?” You ask, furrowing your brows.
“Wondering why Hawkins High’s very own princess is trying to talk to me. Not that I’m complaining. Just curious.” He responded with an amused look.
You can’t help the small smile that spreads at his antics. “I’m talking to you because I’m a nice person and I let you cheat off of me. It’s time to repay the favor.”
“Ooh, princess wants something from the freak. Enlighten me.” He taps the tips of his fingers together in a way that would mook maniacal if it weren’t Eddie.
You roll your eyes at the dramatics. “I have an art project and I need-”
“I will not model naked for you if that’s what you’re asking.” He had a very serious look on his face, which meant he was totally joking, something you’d come to know sitting next to him in three different classes.
You smacked his arm and furrowed your brow. “No. I need the inside scoop on Gareth. He’s my partner and I have to get to know him, like really get to know him for this project.”
Eddie nods, resting his chin in his hand. “Okay. I can help you with that. As long as I keep copying your homework and cheating off of your tests.” He smirked, a wide grin plastering his face.
“In all honesty, I didn’t even think about using that as a threat.” You giggled, reaching over and scribbling your number onto a page with a scratched out doodle in his notebook. “Call me tomorrow. I’ll be at Gareth’s tonight.”
“Oh yeah, date night.” Eddie replied kind of like an off hand comment.
“It’s not a date, Eddie.” Your eyes were wide again like they had been in art class.
Eddie laughed and shook his head. “I mean his parents. He has to watch his sisters. Although I may be reading into that reaction a little too much, but I think you-”
“Not another word or the copying does stop.” Your face was hard, begging him not to speak the words you already knew were true. You would like to go on a date with him, but this, getting to really know him as part of a project, it’ll work too. Better, you convince yourself. Better because there’s no pressure to actually like him and if you don’t, well at least you'll know and you can stop this pitiful pining over him.
“Yes, your highness.” Eddie bows as much as he can while sitting before the teacher begins class.
Two class periods later you were headed to lunch. Once you made it to the cafeteria you headed right for the Hellfire table, leaving a very confused Stephanie in the doorway. As you approached a group of freshmen were settled at the table. “Hi, does Gareth sit here?” You knew he did, but striking up a conversation would be better than just claiming a seat that didn’t belong to you.
The curly haired one looked up, surprised a cheerleader was talking to him. “I, uh, yeah.” he sputtered, earning a glare from the dark haired one.
“Dude, you can’t just tell people like-” He cuts himself off, looking up at you and wondering if you’d tear him a new one.
You laughed and leaned against the table. “I know. People like me have a bad rap, and usually for good reason. I have an art project with Gareth and we need to go over some details. No malice. No ill intent. Pinky promise.” You held out your pinky, waiting for one of the group to make their move.
The smaller boy with a bowl cut reaches out, linking his pinky with yours. “He’ll be here in a few. He usually takes a smoke break before coming to lunch. That’s his seat,” He points to a chair on the edge of the opposite side of the table. “And Jeff isn’t here today, so the spot next to him is open if you want to sit.”
“Thank you.” You smile before rounding the table and sitting in the middle seat. “My name is Y/N, by the way.” You offer a hand over the table for any one of them to take.
The curly haired boy reaches over and shakes it, “I’m Dustin, this is Mike and Will.”
“It’s nice to meet you guys. So, how does Dungeons and Dragons work? I’ve never played but it seems interesting from what I’ve seen.” You can’t find it in yourself to regret the question as Dustin and Will go into an in depth explanation of the game. You were so drawn in that you didn’t notice Gareth walking up to the table, or the look of horror as the freshmen bombarded you with facts about a fantasy game, even if he loved that fantasy game more than most things.
“Alright you guys, I’m sure she doesn’t want to hear about DnD.” Gareth sighed as he sat, drawing the attention of the four of you.
You gave him a playful glare. “I asked, actually. It sounds like a lot of fun. Very creative.” You were smiling by the end.
Gareth nodded, unable to help the thought that you were only saying that to seem nice and use it against them later. He immediately felt bad because in all the years of classes together, you’d never been that way. “Okay, well, I’m sorry. You can continue, Dustin.”
“Actually, Dustin, as much as I want to hear the differences in characters, I really need to get some stuff settled with Gareth about this project. How about I come sit here on Monday and you and Will can finish telling me about it.” You offered, finding the kids incredibly charming and utterly adorable.
“Yeah!” Dustin replied, opening a book to keep track of what he’d filled you in on already.
Gareth chuckled and leaned over to whisper to you. “You really don’t have to let them torture you like this.” The way his voice rumbled in your ear mixed with the warmth of his breath cascading down your neck, you knew you were screwed.
“Gare, really, I want to know about it. I wouldn’t have asked if I didn’t.” You assured him, placing a hand on his forearm and giving it a small squeeze.
Gareth didn’t know what else to say, so he only offered a crooked smile instead.
“Good, it’s settled. Now to the main task at hand. What time do I need to come over?”
He shrugged and went over the schedule in his head. “I’m gonna do dinner at 5:30, give them a bath, and let them play. They’ll be out by 7:30.” He offered more as a question.
“Or, I can bring dinner from Benny’s around 6, help you give them a bath, and we can all watch a movie before they go to bed.” You twisted a curl around your finger as you waited for his response.
He nodded and smiled. “Yeah, they’d like that.”
You slid your notebook and a pen in front of him. “Write down your order and I’ll be over by six.”
“Do you even know where I live?” He quirked a brow as he scribbled down an order.
“Gareth Emerson, I have lived down the street from you my whole life. Of course I know where you live.” You reached out and gently smacked his shoulder.
Gareth laughed and held a hand up in surrender. “I’m just making sure. I’d hate for you to get lost and leave me starving.” He jokes, sliding the notebook across the table with the order, along with his number. “See you tonight?”
“For sure, but you’re going to see me sitting here for the rest of lunch, if that’s okay with you.” You looked up at him through your lashes.
“It’s totally fine!” Dustin said, grabbing your attention. You’d almost forgotten about the freshmen sitting across from you.
You laughed and nodded, knowing he wanted to continue his spill about the different kinds of characters.
The end of the day came and you were headed out to your car when you were stopped by Tiffany. “What in the hell were you doing at that table of freaks during lunch?”
Your jaw clenched, but you didn’t let your anger show. “I had to come up with a plan for this project. Gareth is my partner. Art is the only class we have together and I’d like to get it started sooner rather than later.”
Tiffany scoffed and rolled her eyes. “Don’t let it happen again.”
“Actually, I’ll be there Monday too, and probably a few times throughout the next couple of weeks. I’ll sit with you guys on game days so no one sees me in my uniform at their table, but this project is important to me. Art is important to me. You know I want to be an artist. If getting to know him is what it takes to make a kickass piece, then I’m doing it.” Your tone wasn’t harsh, but it was firm, letting her know there would be no room for negotiation.
She didn’t say anything, just stomped away, which caught the attention of the older Hellfire members.
“I think she just stood up for us.” Grant said, eyebrows raised.
Gareth pressed his back against the brick wall and looked up at the tin of the sidewalk covers. “Fuck.” He shook his head as he breathed deeply.
“What, Emerson?” Eddie cocked a brow at Gareth’s pained expression.
“I don’t know. Like, this is going to be so hard. I’ve only been in love with her since kindergarten. Now she’s sitting at my lunch table, standing up for me and my friends, and she’s coming to my fucking house tonight. How am I supposed to do this?”
Eddie couldn’t help but to laugh at his friend's pained expression. “I usually don’t get in the middle of this crap, but, earlier I made a joke about it being date night. She got really defensive, and that’s fully a sign that she’s into you. Maybe just go for it?”
“You’re so full of shit, Munson. She’s just a nice person and didn’t want you to get the wrong idea.” He replied, finally pushing himself off the wall. “I’ll see you guys tomorrow at practice. Gotta get home so my parents can head out.”
Eddie and Grant mumbled their goodbyes before making their way to Eddie’s van.
It was currently 5:50 and you’d just pulled into the Emerson’s driveway with a passenger seat full of food and shakes. You released a breath you didn’t realize you had been holding before cutting the engine and getting out of the car. You’d barely made it to the passenger door when the glossy red door to the house flung open.
“Lori, get back here!” Gareth’s exhausted yell came as he chased her down the steps, not yet realizing you’d arrived. He scooped her up as she giggled.
“I was trying to see your friend!” Lori‘s giggles quickly turned into a whine when she realized her brother had no plans to put her feet back on the ground.
Gareth finally looked up, making eye contact with you as you rested your elbow on the roof of the car. “Hey, uh, sorry. One sec.” He finally returned Lori’s feet to the ground but made her look at him. “Go back inside. I’m going to help Y/N bring the food in and you can see her in there, okay?”
She pouted but nodded before walking slowly to the house.
“Someone’s got the dad voice down.” You smiled, bending to grab the bags as Gareth made his way over to you in a pair of grey sweat pants and a faded Metallica shirt.
“Yeah, well, someone had to be when my dad split a few years ago. Rick is nice though.” He replied, reaching to take the bags out of your hands.
You nodded, smiling as his skin brushed yours. “I think you’re doing a great job considering she actually listened.” You offered before bending back down to get the drink tray with the shakes.
Gareth planned on replying, but he was silenced by the sight of you bent over and the amount of leg coming out of the old practice cheer shorts you’d changed into. He watched you stand and bump the door with your hip to close it.
“C’mon Gare, shakes are melting.” You said, taking a few steps towards his house.
He nodded and followed wordlessly. This was going to be a lot harder than he thought.
As you and his sisters settled into the table Gareth apologized again that his sisters threw a fit to both sit next to you.
“They’re fine, Gareth. Tell your brother to stop worrying so much, Lori.”
“Yeah, stop worrying that much.” She sassed, making you laugh and Gareth roll his eyes.
“I don’t know how Clara expects me to help her with her food all the way over there.” He gave the youngest girl a look as if to say ‘didn’t think of that, did you’.
“I’ve got it. It’s just chicken and fries. She’s safe in my care.” You assured him as you opened the small styrofoam container to start tearing the strips into more manageable pieces for a two year old
“Yeah, but you shouldn’t have to.” He replied sincerely.
You sighed and turned to look at him. “Gareth, it’s okay to let people do stuff for you. If I minded I wouldn’t be doing it. Do you trust that?”
He was at a loss for words, only nodding in response.
“Good. Now eat your burger before it gets cold.” You instructed as you finished tearing the chicken. “One at a time, Clara. Don’t put another in your mouth until the first one is all gone, okay?”
The small girl with white curly hair and bright blue doe eyes nodded, reaching for a piece of her chicken.
You popped a fry into your mouth, fully ready to dive into your burger when there was a tap on your shoulder. You turned to see Lori looking at you with a pout.
“Can you do my chicken too? Pretty please.” She looked like she was scared you would say no.
“Of course, baby doll! Let me see.” You pulled her plate over to you and started ripping the chicken into bits.
“Lori, you eat strips all the time.” Gareth stated after swallowing a bite of his burger.
“Gareth, eat your burger and let her be. She wants my attention and that’s okay.” You assured him, cutting your eyes over to look at him across the table without moving your head very much.
“But your food is going to get cold.” He urged as you took on the second strip.
“We’ll call it practice for being a real mom one day. Cold food, cold coffee, hot ice cream.”
“Ew! Hot ice cream!” Lori laughed as you pushed her plate back towards her.
You couldn’t help but join in. Her laugh is tinkly like a fairy, contagious.
“Okay, alright, I won’t say anything else.” He raised his hands in surrender before going back to his food.
The rest of the meal went by quietly, ending with you spooning the girls' shared shake into separate cups.
Once dessert was had, it was bath time, resulting in your cheer camp t-shirt getting soaking wet.
“I am so sorry. Let me get you a shirt.” Gareth was red from embarrassment.
You, however, were still smiling. “Okay, Gare. I’ll get them dried off and changed, then I’ll come find you about the shirt.”
He nodded and left the bathroom.
“Are you my brother’s girlfriend?” Lori asked once she was sure Gareth was gone.
You giggled a bit and shook your head as you pulled her nightgown over her head. “No, baby doll, I’m not. We go to school together. He’s my friend.”
She nodded and her face twisted in thought. “Will you be his girlfriend?”
You gave her a soft smile. “Yeah, I hope so one day.” You winked at her before turning to help Clara into her nightgown. “Why don’t you girls go down stairs to the couch while I go find Gareth and change, hm?”
Lori nodded and took Clara’s hand to lead her away.
You sighed and pushed yourself from the floor.
It didn’t take much to figure out which door belonged to Gareth. He had various band stickers and drawings on the door. You knocked twice.
“Come in!” He called as he snagged his favorite Motley Crue shirt from the hanger. It may or may not have been for a fantasy he had not too long ago.
You opened the door and stepped in. “Hey, I sent the girls downstairs to get settled. Just came to grab the shirt. It’s starting to get a little chilly.” You chuckled at the end, leaning against the wall.
“Okay, great. Um, you can change here if you want. I can go get the movie ready.”
You nodded and stepped further into the room. “Yeah, thanks. I’ll be down in just a second.” You said taking the worn material from his hands. Once the door clicked closed you pulled your shirt over your head and unhooked your bra which was soaked through. You hoped the shirt would be big enough that the lack of bra wouldn’t be noticeable. What you didn’t think about though, was leaving the pile of damp clothes at the foot of the bed before walking out of the room and down stairs.
“Can I sit with you!” Lori yelled as she saw you finally descend the stairs.
“Of course, baby doll.” You smiled, glancing over at Gareth who managed to go a deep shade of red.
Maybe putting you into that shirt was one of his less than stellar ideas. His mind wandered back to the dream he had the other night of you, in the shirt, on top of him- He stopped his thoughts immediately before they became too much.
You settled next to him and let Lori climb into your lap as Gareth hit play on the Care Bears movie. You ran your fingers through the six year olds hair, eventually braiding it into a nice french braid before she fell asleep. You looked over to Clara who was dead asleep in Gareth’s lap.
He looked over at you and then up the stairs. “They won’t wake. They sleep pretty hard. Wanna take them up and get started?”
“Yeah, that sounds good.” You smiled as you got a better grip on Lori. You followed Gareth up the stairs and pushed open Lori’s bedroom door. You laid her down gently in her princess bed sheets and covered her up before heading back to the hall to meet Gareth.
“You’re really good with them, you know.” He said, leading you back down the stairs and turning the light on.
“If I don’t go into art, I want to teach little ones.” You said, tucking a hair behind your ear.
“You could be the art teacher for the little ones.” Gareth offered. “Best of both worlds.”
“You’re so smart, you know that? That never crossed my mind.” You laughed a little, not believing you’d not thought of it before.
Gareth smiles as he bumped your shoulder. “Thanks. And when you do become an art teacher for little ones, make sure you credit me.” He winked before sitting on the floor at the coffee table.
You sat across from him, rolling your eyes at his joke. “I’ll put your name on the degree.” You said sarcastically as you pulled the questionnaire sheet from the spiral notebook.
Both of you took a second to look over the sheet before you spoke again.
“These are bullshit questions.” You said passively as you looked up from the bullet point asking ‘What is your partner’s favorite color.’
“Why do you say that?” He asked, putting his sheet down on the table.
You sighed and tapped your pen on your lip and you thought. “If I’m supposed to make an art piece based on you, what good is knowing your favorite food and color? I mean do I just draw a red cheeseburger? It’s so basic. Art is supposed to make you think. Make you feel something.” You emphasized before laying back on the floor.
Gareth laughed and scooted around to your side of the table to lay next to you. “You have a point, but how do you know my favorite color is red? I never told you.”
You turned your head to look at him rather than the ceiling. “I’ve lived 50 yards from you my whole life, we went to the same daycare, elementary, middle, and high school. Red is one of the few colors in your color palette. People don’t wear colors they don’t like.” You studied his face, taking in every freckle, every developing laugh line, every shade of blue and green in his eyes for the hundredth time, only this time you were much closer. It had much more of an effect on you.
“You’re very observant, you know.” His mouth ticked up into a lopsided smile as his eyes darted around your face.
“Which is you telling me that I’m right.”
“Yeah, you’re right.” He laughed this time, making you smile. “You’re not as oblivious as you present yourself as. Why do you do that?” His brows furrowed as he questioned you.
You shrugged, debating your answer for a moment. “I do what I have to in order to make it where I want to go. You present yourself as a dark, twisty guy who doesn’t care about anything, yet you’ve got smile lines and you’re amazingly sweet with your sisters. Why do you do that?” You challenged with a playful smile.
“Self preservation. I’m a weird kid and if I come off as someone who’s easy to mess with, life would be a whole lot worse. So I keep myself far away from the people who don’t deserve to know me.” He explained, his eyes holding a look that you couldn’t quite place.
Before you could stop yourself you asked, “Do I deserve to know you?”
His eyes that held your gaze flickered down to your lips and back up. “Yeah. Do I deserve to know you?”
You nodded, unable to resist the urge to reach over and rest your hand on the side of his face.
The moment was quiet, intimate, and gone far too quickly as his mom and stepdad came into the house.
“Gareth, whose car is in the drive-“ his mothers voice cut off as she walked in on the innocent scene because she could feel the tension between her son and the girl laying on the floor.
You snatched your hand away quickly and looked at the woman in the doorway, praying she wouldn’t berate you for being there.
“Mom. Hey. I told you Y/N was coming by for the art project.” He was red, not from a blush but from panic. His heartbeat was thundering in his ears so loud he thought it must have been audible.
She nodded and smirked. “Alright, well, carry on then.” She turned and walked into the kitchen where her husband was digging around in the pantry. “They’re going to get married. I’m calling it now.”
“Gwen, you can’t be serious. You haven’t even spoken to the girl.” He turned to look at her before glancing through the doorway to see the girl in question gathering her things.
“A mother knows.” She patted his chest and gave him the look. The look that said you-know-I’m-right.
Gareth walked with you out the door and to your car. “I’ll see you on Monday. Be careful.” He opened your door for you and watched you get in.
“If I wreck going three houses down the street, I probably don’t need a license.” You joked as you looked up at him, taking in the way the moonlight bounced off of the high points of his face.
“Be careful.” His tone was a bit more authoritative than before, making your insides turn.
“I will be.” You promised before smirking. “Do you want me to call you when I get there so you know I got in okay?” You teased lightly, making him roll his eyes.
“Just for that, I sure do. If my phone’s not ringing in 5 minutes I’m coming down there.” He was smiling, laughing at the way you scrunched up your nose at him before sticking your tongue out.
“Maybe I won’t call then.”
“Are you testing me?”
“I guess you’ll find out.”
“I guess I will.” He winked and closed the door to your car before walking towards the door. He stood there, watching you back out of the driveway thinking about how easy it was with you. It was easy to be himself. He finally went inside to wait for your call.

(There will be separate intro/masterposts for each of these when i get to them
The Bone-Binder’s Covenant
(click link to see masterpost)
Basic Premise: The Bone-Binder has broken his promise with the land of Pytharios, and is now terrorizing the region to get what he wants. Chosen directly by the Queen, Aerlyra Ghorne–a promising yet incredibly unsure woman–is tasked to stop him for once and for all. With the help of her assigned crew and companions who join alongside her during the journey, she hopes to do just that.

We Die As One
(Adding masterpost soon)
Basic Premise: Tells the story from a series of ancient journals that are uncovered showing the events following up the total wipeout of all magic. The journal entries focus on a group of scrappy, young heroes who are on a mission against the world, and fail to stop the evils of the world from taking over. All that is left of them is the journals, leaving the ways of the past to be seen as a distant memory and an inspiration to the new generation, who see how the world came to what it has become.
Tags: #We Die As One or #WDAO

(FROM THE IMPCO ARCHIVES, IT’S PART 1 OF AN EPISODE OF BRAINDRAIN.
CW: hypnotic intox, dubcon hypno, public humiliation, kidnapping)
It’s the middle of the night, and your television flickers. There’s a static haze, a soft droning. As the picture comes into focus, a jaunty, old fashioned tune plays over the title card:
BRAINDRAIN
with Imp
Camera slowly zooms in on a small, effeminate man, grinning at the camera. A lower third tells you that his name is Imp. The image is hazy, as if it’s an old broadcast, but you could swear he has horns and a devil’s tail. Are those fangs? What is this show?
“Good evening, Impsomniacs! It’s 3 o’clock, and you know what that means. It’s time for your favorite game show: BRAINDRAIN.”
The camera follows as Imp walks across the set.
“Now, I’ve been hosting this show for many years. It’s been so long, we don’t even remember that far back! The before times, the long long ago, it all fades into nothing, like a dark void at the center of my mind, and no matter how hard I try to remember, it’s like we’re filled with this emptiness. It’s frightening, but it’s exciting at the same time. Like, what even is hiding in that dark space? Is it better if we never find out? This guy knows what I’m talking about!”
Imp points lightheartedly at an audience member, who appears to be asleep. AUDIENCE LAUGHS.
“HA! Haha. Yes.” (Stage whisper, into his headset) “Get that guy out of here. He’s too far gone to laugh at any of my jokes.”
The audience member is swiftly carted away.
“We have a very special player on our show tonight. You might recognize him from such places as snooping around Impco at 6am, or the holding room where we keep all of our prisoner— I mean contestants.”
Curtains move aside to reveal a man chained to a podium by his neck and hands. There is a gag in his mouth. He struggles against the binding. The messy scrawl on his name card says: “POSTMAN (ALLEGEDLY)”
“Usually I’m not up so early in the morning, but today I was woken up by a terrible horn-ache, and that’s when I found contestant number one poking around the facility. What do you have to say for yourself, contestant?”
Imp removes the gag from the man’s mouth.
“I was delivering a package, you lunatic!”
“Oh? Really? And what was in this package?”
“That tie! You’re wearing it right now!”
Imp looks down at the tie around his neck.
“HA! Hahaha! Oh darling, I sure wish I believed you. But you see, we’ve already downloaded dozens of fun triggers directly into your brain. It would be such a shame to waste them. Not only that, but our audience is just aching to see what’s going to happen to you. They’re ravenous. Like dogs. Isn’t that right, folks?”
APPLAUSE AND BARKING.
The man continues to struggle.
“Now, I think we all know the rules by now, but because I’m so nice, I’ll explain how the game is played.
I spin the wheel of post-hypnotic suggestions (we’re still coming up with a snappier name for it).
Whatever it lands on is the trigger I’ll use before I ask you a question.
Will you have to answer a complicated math problem after having your IQ reduced by 30 points? Will I make you into my puppet and then ask you to grab something just out of reach? Will it be a mysterious third thing?
You don’t know! And neither do I! That’s what makes the game so fun. Are you ready to play, Luke?”
“Let me go! M-my name’s not even Luke. It’s Daniel.”
“GREAT! Time to spin the wheel of post-hypnotic suggestions. Ooooooh!”
Imp spins the large, multicolored wheel. In each color is a different image, indicating a different trigger. As the wheel spins, Imp’s eyelids start fluttering. He watches it, half-lidded, a blank look on his face. The wheel has stopped spinning. Five seconds pass. An Imptern in a black t-shirt and headset rushes onto the stage. She snaps her fingers in front of Imp’s face.
“Bwuh.. wha..?”
She hurriedly whispers, “Sir, you know you’re not supposed to look directly at the wheel.”
“It’s my show. I can look wherever I want.”
“You were just zoning out, again!”
“You know I can’t be effected by hypnosis, doll. Now, get off the stage, I’m trying to do a show.”
She rushes off. TEPID AUDIENCE LAUGHTER. Imp gestures to the wheel, which has landed on a drawing of a bottle.
“Oh, a classic! Are you ready for the trigger, darling?”
“P-please don’t, I-I…”
“Hmm, stuttering and slurring like that. Oh dear… How much have you had to drink?”
The contestant’s eyelids flutter. He looks confused. His cheeks flush.
“Whas… happening?”
“You heard me. How much have you had to drink?”
“I’ve haven’t had… anything. I… I feel…”
The contestant giggles, clearly drunk. AUDIENCE LAUGHS.
“Uh oh, I think he’s had a bit too much.”
“I don… nunderstand. I didn’t think it wass real but I ffeel…”
“Didn’t think what was real? Hypnosis? Brainwashing? If that was true, we’d all be out of the job! HA! Ohh, you poor thing, you look like you’re going to be sick. Are you ready for your test, darling?”
“Fffuck.”
“No swearing dear, we’re on LIVE TV! Considering your pitiful state, I’ll keep it simple. Your question is: If one doctor doctors another doctor, does the doctor who doctors the doctor doctor the doctor the way the doctor he is doctoring doctors? Or does he doctor the doctor the way the doctor who doctors doctors?
“I… wh… what?”
“I’m sorry, that’s wrong. I don’t know what the answer is, but I know that that’s definitely not it.”
“Youu asked me a trick queshtion! Ompurpose! How’m I supposed to answer something like… that…? Shit… the room wontstop spinn..ninng…”
“Easy there, tiger. It’s time for a quick commercial break, but don’t you fret. We’ll be back to seal our dear contestant’s fate after this! (BUY IMPCO PRODUCTS!)”
There’s a commercial for Impco brand hypno-goggles. You’re not sure what hypno-goggles are, or what you’re even watching. But that Imp seems so nice. And he said to buy Impco products. So maybe you should…
(Decided to break this up with the commercials since it’s long but part 2 is coming soon! When I post it I will link it here.)

We're Not Bakers!
➺ Part of the "We're Not Heroes!" collection.
➺ Characters: Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, Nobara Kugisaki, Bakery Girl, Kento Nanami, Gojo Satoru
➺ Word Count: 3.7k
➺ Genre: Fluff
➺ Content: Swearing also part-time labor haha
➺ Synopsis: The Jujutsu High first-years are visited by first-grade sorcerer Nanami Kento for what he tells them to be “A very important mission”. Terrified of the possibilities, the young sorcerers are shocked to find themselves in front of… a bakery?
“Well kids, that’s all for your lesson with your sweet and awesome teacher Gojo!” Their teacher poses dramatically in front of the board. “Now he’s off to go on a mission as the strongest sorcerer in the world!” he exclaims, striking one last pose. When his “big announcement” doesn’t get the expected fanfare from the crowd, Gojo quietly murmurs a soft “Whaaaaat? You’re so cool and fun Gojo” mimicking the sounds of (what is meant to be, anyways) his students’ voices.
“Please just leave” Fushiguro states plainly, earning a soft pout from Gojo. “Alright alright” Gojo goes to leave the room, “But be on good behavior while I’m gone kids!”.
“No offense Gojo-Sensei but the worst behavior in this building comes from you,” Kugisaki says as she takes out her phone. Gojo just laughs and opens the door “Alright alright kids, I’ll see you guys in a few!” as he steps out.
The classroom stills as the three students hear their teacher’s footsteps grow more and more faint. When they’re no longer able to hear him, Itadori has the bravery to speak up “So… did you guys understand any of that lesson?”.
“No! I was just about to look up all the answers for the homework” Kugisaki responds, holding her phone out for Itadori to see. “No offense Kugisaki but I don’t think Google will help much for our lesson on Jujutsu History” Itadori pushes his hair back. “Wait…” Kugisaki looks up from her phone, “We were talking about Jujutsu History? I thought we were doing Math!”.
“Uh…no” Itadori chuckles “Oh… Fushiguro, did you understand any of the lesson?” Itadori seeks wisdom from his dark haired friend. “Nah… after about thirty minutes of Gojo not saying anything useful I started zoning out”.
From that, Kugisaki and Itadori slump down on their knees in defeat, unsure of how they would be able to do their homework now that the smartest person in the class just admitted to zoning out during the lesson. Statements like “He can’t do anything if we all don’t do it, right?” and “How is he even a teacher if no one understands him” are mumbled by the students throughout the classroom.
The sound of the sliding door snaps the students out of their woes, pulling their attention to who could be visiting right now. “Oh good, you’re all here” a tall, blonde, and muscular form walks into the room.
“Oh, hi Nanamin!” Itadori gets up and bows to greet the sorcerer. “I thought I told you not to call me that” Nanami comments regarding the nickname, earning an embarrassed chuckle and a soft “sorry” in response.
“Hm… what brings you here, Nanami?” Kugisaki asks. Typically, when people visit Jujutsu High, it’s usually for Gojo or other more experienced sorcerers. Very rarely are the students given much thought at the school…ironically.
“Oh, right” Nanami straightens his back “I have a very important mission for the three of you”. The three young sorcerers perk up. An important mission from Nanami? What could it possibly be?
“I’ve sent you all the address to this place in Shinjuku, I expect all of you to be there in…” the blonde sorcerer looks down at his watch “Thirty minutes”.
“Wait!” Itadori yells out as Nanami walks out the door. “Uh.. aren’t you going to tell us what the mission is about”.
“I’ll tell you once we get there, what I will say though…” Nanami pauses at the door frame before looking back at the students one last time. “Be prepared” he ominously states as he leaves the room.
“Wow! An important mission from Nanami!” Itadori turns to his friends.
“I wonder why he couldn’t go on it himself though? He doesn’t seem super busy” Kugisaki adds. “You know how he gets when it comes to doing overtime, he probably didn’t want to bother with it himself” Fushiguro responds.
Itadori begins to shiver, “Guys! He told us to be prepared! What if this mission is dangerous?” This causes Kugisaki to begin shaking too “Oh yeah… I can’t die yet! The entire mall is having a huge blowout sale next week. I can’t miss that!”
“That’s what you’re worried about when thinking about dying?” Fushiguro sighs, “Whatever guys let’s just go. We shouldn’t be late”. Fushiguro walks out first, with the two scaredy-cat sorcerers trailing behind him, scaring each other with stories on what might happen on this secret mission.
A Special-Grade curse, perhaps?
Maybe someone important got kidnapped!
The possible dangers of a mission from a Grade-1 Sorcerer such as Nanami were seemingly endless. What could it possibly be?
“Uh…Nanami,” Kugisaki asks confused, “...Why are we at a bakery?”.
The cozy aesthetic of the small bakery stands in stark contrast to the surrounding skyscrapers in the area. What odd placement for a bakery the three sorcerers thought.
Still, the bakery looked completely fine and curse-free. So it was odd that they were called over here. In fact, if Nanami wasn’t already at the area, they would have assumed he gave them the wrong address by accident.
Standing in front of the bakery like some tour-guide, Nanami finally decides to brief the sorcerers on why he called them there. “This is a small bakery, with the owner also posing as the only employee. Despite this, the bakery continues to grow in customers, this is a problem–”.
“Teacher!” Itadori raises his hand, cutting Nanami off. “Not a teacher, but what”.
“Isn’t it a good thing for a store to have a lot of customers, especially a small business?” Itadori asks.
“Right. I was getting to that. See, the bakery doesn’t have enough money to generate the revenue needed to accommodate a new employee. However, there continues to be a growing influx of customers to the point where it would be considered too much for their current workforce of one. This is called an operational bottleneck*. If left unchecked for too long, this can have disastrous effects on a business”. The sorcerer explains to the kids, for someone who wasn’t an educator, he was certainly better at explaining things than Gojo.
“I understand why he knows about how businesses work, but how does he know so much about this business?” Itadori whispers to Kugisaki. “Yeah I have no idea, it’s kind of weird” Kugisaki responds. Oh… also, Fushiguro was in the middle of them while they were having this conversation, growing increasingly frustrated at the fact that they won’t just move next to each other when they want to whisper amongst themselves.
“Nanami,” Fushiguro speaks up. “This is all interesting information and all, but what does any of this have to do with Jujutsu–”
“YOU FOOL” Nanami yells out, catching the two whispering sorcerers’ attention, not understanding what’s going on but giving Fushiguro an ooooooo in response to him being “in trouble” with the older sorcerer. “This has everything to do with Jujutsu,” Nanami exclaims, this is possibly the most passion the students have seen in the man. “Do you remember what the French did when they had no bread?” Nanami asks the black haired sorcerer, seemingly waiting for his answer “They had the revolutio–” Fushiguro begins to speak before getting cut off by Nanami “They descended into war! DO YOU WANT JAPAN TO GO TO WAR?”.
The three sorcerers just stood shell shocked, they didn’t expect any of… whatever that was from Nanami of all people. Gojo maybe, but Nanami?
“The reason I’m saying all this is…” Nanami clears his throat. “For your mission, you’re to assist this owner until closing today in everything that she needs”.
“How you decide to do that is up to you as long as it’s done” Nanami begins to leave. “Oh right, here are your checks from Jujutsu High so don’t bother writing a report for this mission. I know you typically get money after you complete the mission, but I trust your honesty. See you.”
When Nanami leaves they talk amongst each other about what they should do. Maybe they could exchange shifts? Who should go first?
They don’t bother to look at their checks until Itadori goes “Uh… guys, am I seeing correctly?”. Turning back at him, Kugisaki and Fushiguro look down at their checks, when they see in big bold letters…
¥15,000,000.00**
They pause for a moment. Were extra zeros added there on accident? No, it couldn’t be, it was on all their checks! Kugisaki was the first to rush into the store “I’m working first, losers!”. “Wait– Hold on Kugisaki I’m going in too!” Itadori follows Kugisaki, and they practically trample over each other as they fight for the entrance.
Only Fushiguro stays in his place, confused, not by the money, but by his two comrades.
I don’t get it.
Gojo gave Tsumiki and I way more money than this growing up.
The sweet aroma of coffee and baked goods hit the group as they entered the bakery. The smell was heavenly. A beautiful mixture of the sweetest desserts combined with a savory touch of different kinds of breads. It hypnotized them.
“Welcome! How can I help you?” a voice calls out from the other side of the room. There, stands a young girl with long brown bangs, red cap, and a bright welcoming smile to go along with it. Man was she really a bakery owner? The trio thought. She looked barely older than they were. Still, they all scrambled to stand up and greet her “Hello!” Itadori starts, “Y-You ask how you can help us, but the real question is, how can we help you” he starts rambling nonsense, causing the woman at the cash register to speak a faint “...What?” in response.
“Dude. Stop” Kugisaki turns to Itadori, “You sound like a weird salesman”. “Hello. We’re high school students who want to help small businesses. We were sent here by someone named Nanami. We assume you know him.” Fushiguro bows to the woman.
“Nanami…” The young bakery girl tries to think of where she recognizes the name “Oh! Of course, one of our regulars! He never told me about this though…”
He didn’t even ask before making us come?! The students thought.
“Though I guess I could use some help since you kids came all this way to volunteer” the woman puts a hand to her chin. “Here, I’m behind on taking inventory so if you kids could sit by the front while I finish up, that would be great!”.
The students look at each other for a second before saying “Sure!” and giving a big nod of approval to the woman.
She goes to the back to start her work. “You guys have no idea what great help this is! I’m so grateful! I’ll be back here if you kids need anything” she gives a little wave goodbye before leaving to the back room.
Now here they stand, alone.
“Fushiguro! You’re mopping wrong!” Itadori yells at his friend. After a few minutes had passed, they decided to give Fushiguro the role of cleaning, which they quickly learned was a big mistake. The black haired sorcerer unfortunately didn’t realize that there was such a thing as using too much soap when mopping, leading to a very slippery mess of liquid throughout much of the bakery. Thankfully (or not, depending on your perspective), Fushiguro also didn’t realize that you had to mop the whole floor and not just a small section.
“Jeez haven’t you ever used a mop before Fushiguro?” Kugisaki observes her friend’s failures as she sits on the counter. In response, Fushiguro just gives her a blank “No”.
“Kugisaki, you’re not even doing anything!” Itadori retorts as he stands next to her by the counter. “Oh yeah, and what exactly are you doing?” Kugisaki yells back.
“I’m trying to figure out how this cash register works” he genuinely responds. “There’s just too many buttons and I don’t know which is whi–”
CHING
The register box opens unexpectedly causing Itadori to fall backward in shock. To make things worse, Kugisaki begins to hysterically laugh at him. “BAHAHAHAHA Oh man! You looked so stupid! I should have taken a photo!” Both Kugisaki and Itadori have tears in their eyes… though, for very different reasons.
Hearing the commotion, the young bakery girl rushes to the front to see what happened. “Oh no! Are you okay?” she asks as she helps Itadori off the floor. “Physically or emotionally?” he asks, staring daggers at Kugisaki, leading to her sticking her tongue out mockingly in response, causing the bakery owner to let out a giggle.
“Say… I should probably ask, why did you decide to own a bakery?” Itadori questions the woman. “Oh! Well… my dad owned a bakery so that inspired me a lot” she thought, “When he passed he left the bakery to me to do as I wished, I wanted to focus more on savory goods so I sold the business and moved here where they would likely sell better” she answered. “Woah… You’re so cool!” Itadori had stars in his eyes while talking to the woman. “Haha… I’m glad you think so” she laughs in response.
Ring. Ring.
A soft bell rings as a customer enters the bakery. “Welcome!” the four workers say at the same time. The customer orders a dozen cupcakes. As Itadori is being taught how to use the register correctly by his red-capped “boss”, Kugisaki takes it upon herself to perfectly pack the cupcakes in a box to give to the customer. The customer thanks them for their service and walks out, only followed by Fushiguro, mop still in hand in order to mop out the customer’s visible footprints from the floor.
A little too proud of themselves, Itadori confidently tells the bakery woman that she could “leave it all to them!” and to “count on us!”, causing the woman to laugh and say “of course!”.
Though, Kugisaki decides to go ahead and boldly ask the woman a question that has been bugging her mind “You know, Nanami told us about how busy you were but it’s been about an hour and there’s only been one customer”.
The woman just looks back at Kugisaki with a smile, “Well of course” she giggles.
“It’s not lunch yet.”
Ring. Ring.
Almost on command, a customer walks through the door. Now seemingly well prepped, the trio is ready for whatever comes their way,
Ring. Ring.
When another customer walks in. Okay… that’s alright, what’s two customers?
Ring. Ring.
Then another.
Ring. Ring.
And another.
Ring. Ring.
Until eventually, the line has reached way past the bakery entrance.
It’s hilarious, really. Three sorcerers, people who are trained to battle the most evil beings on planet Earth, have now descended into chaos working regular customer service jobs. At the front, you’ll find Yuji Itadori, who after just getting used to working the register, is now constantly taking people’s orders in a seemingly endless loop. Next to him is Nobara Kugisaki, packing boxes and boxes of people’s orders and handing it to them, no longer interested in putting any care into how well they’re packed. “Jesus Itadori slow down on the orders!” she yells, out of breath. “Does it look like I have a choice?!” he yells back in tears. Finally, running all around the bakery is Megumi Fushiguro, who can’t possibly shake away the need to clean every soiled surface. Every spill of coffee, every fallen cupcake, he needs to clean it to stay sane. Yet at the same time he’s also so tired. “Don’t lick the glass you weirdo!” he yells out to some child licking the display case.
To make matters worse, the customers don’t seem to have a lot of patience. Heaps of people going “Hey, where’s my order” and “What do you mean you guys don’t have any more of this?” are sprinkled all throughout the store. At one point, one man yells out, “I’ve waited over ten minutes for my food and finally got it, only for you guys to get my order wrong!?”. He’s taking his anger out on Kugisaki, but she’s not having it. “Hey man, I just pack the orders. ITADORI! Did you get this guy’s order wrong?!” she yells out to the pink-haired boy next to her. Itadori, tears in his eyes, simply whimpers “All of the orders look the same at this point”. The man continues berating the both of them until Kugisaki goes “LISTEN HERE YOU LITTLE BITCH, I HAPPEN TO BE VERY WELL ACQUAINTED WITH HAMMERS AND SOON YOU WILL BE TOO–”.
“Woah there haha! Sorry about that sir, young people am I right? Here’s the correct order, with extra cookies as an apology! You can keep the wrong order too!” Of course, the owner of the store is there to fix all of the group’s mistakes. She hands the man another box, and he grumbles as he leaves. He got his goal fulfilled, and he didn’t want to test Kugisaki’s threats.
After some hours, the line finally ends and the group collapses onto the dirty bakery floor (Fushiguro gave up on cleaning it after a while), exhausted from all their work. “That… was the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” Kugisaki cries out, exhausted. They aren’t able to rest for long though, when they hear it again.
Ring. Ring
“WITH THIS SACRED TREASURE I SUMMO–”
“Hey kids! You guys worked hard enough today. I have some cookies in the back. You guys should take a break and let me take care of this customer” their brown haired savior tells them.
“Oh thank you! You’re so beautiful on the inside and out, your kindness truly knows no bounds!” Itadori yells out as Kugisaki drags him by his hood to the back room.
Now eating in the break room, the trio begins talking. “You know, if you think about it, this actually does have a lot to do with Jujutsu,” Kugisaki tells the group. “Huh? What do you mean?” Itadori responds.
“Well… if you think about it, this is one of the only places in the area that serves food, making it the nearest place to get lunch. If this place is closed down, people will likely miss out on the short break they need to have a positive day,” Kugisaki answers.
“So if you think about it…” Kugisaki stands up atop a table. “This bakery is single handedly stopping the existence of cursed spirits!”. In awe of her answer, Itadori and Fushiguro give Kugisaki soft applause.
“Yet… despite all this, she’s doing it all alone,” Itadori adds. “That was a lot for the four of us to handle, yet she has to do it every day all by herself” he pauses. “Listen guys… there’s something I’ve been thinking about since we got here, and I want to know what you guys think…”
As the sun begins to set, the bakery finally reaches closing time and the group cleans up. The bakery lady’s hair is now disheveled and her cap is falling off. Still, she was used to this, and she was happy that she was able to get more help today.
“Um… excuse me?” Itadori stands behind her with his two friends as she cleans a window. “Oh… hi kids,” she turns around “Great job today, you have no idea how much you helped me!”.
I’m pretty sure we made things worse, the group thinks.
“Oh! Of course, but about that…” Itadori continues, when he extends out his hand to hand the woman three checks. When she takes it, her eyes widen as she looks at the amount.
“Here’s some money, we think you should have it” Itadori scratches the back of his neck. “I don’t know how much goes into managing a business, but we hope that’s enough to at least hire some people to help you out after today”.
Hands trembling, teardrops begin to fall on the checks. “Oh… this is more than enough. T-Thank you!” She jumps forward to hug the three sorcerers. Sniffling, she says “Everything here is on the house from now on, okay?”. “You’re wonderful, you’re all wonderful”. The three hug her back and they look at each other, proud that they would be able to help outside of today.
The group waves goodbye and promises that they’ll be back again soon. They walk back home in silence, still a little bit tired from what they did. “Man those cookies were good,” Kugisaki comments, breaking their silence. The two male sorcerers agree, and they continue talking about the different things they ate while at the bakery.
The trio continued talking when Fushiguro stopped, causing the other two to look at him. “What’s wrong Fushiguro?” Itadori asks. “Hey guys…” Fushiguro blushes, embarrassed.
“We never asked that lady what her name was”.
“Hey! Where have you guys been?” Gojo asks his students as they walk into the classroom to grab their stuff. “You’re already done with your mission?” Itadori asks a question in response, shocked. “Huh? Oh that, of course I am! Who do you think I am?” he laughs. “Seriously though, where were you guys?”.
“Didn’t you hear? We were on a mission” Fushiguro responds. The group assumes Gojo forgot, or wasn’t paying attention when he was told. Instead, Gojo goes “Uh… no one sent you guys on anything”.
“What are you talking about? Didn’t Nanami tell you he sent us somewhere?” Fushiguro says back, a little irritated from the long day. Gojo leans back on his chair “Hm… well he didn’t tell me about it. He didn’t give you guys reports to fill out?” he asks, causing the group to shake their heads no. “Huh… oh well! See you guys tomorrow!” Gojo gets up to leave the room, not a care in the world that the students were sent on a seemingly nonexistent mission.
The group standing there shell shocked, when Kugisaki decides to finally bring up the elephant in the room, “I don’t get it… Nanami told us that those checks were from Jujutsu High, right? But if Gojo doesn’t know about it then it couldn’t be them,” she adds, “...but if not them, who else?”.
Ring. Ring.
“Welcome! Oh, Nanami! Here’s your sandwich” the red-capped girl hands Nanami his order, the same one he’s been ordering since he discovered the place. “Yes, thank you, here’s my mone–”.
“Haven’t you paid enough?” she laughs, and Nanami looks back at her confused. “Well… I was just thinking, I know most teenagers don’t come up with ¥45,000,000 on their own” she laughs. Nanami chuckles in response, knowing he was caught, he takes the sandwich. “Well, thank you then. I always look forward to your great food so I’m always doing my best to help” he waves goodbye.
Walking around Shinjuku, Nanami can’t help but chuckle. “A very important mission, indeed”.

whumptober 2023 masterlist
summary: healing is draining and you're trying everything you can to stay afloat... can a new workout routine help keep you above water as you support eddie through his trauma while you work through your own?
You really thought that when Eddie started working at the dispatch center, things were going to get better for you. You thought you would sleep better, your nightmares fading away as you always had your protector next to you now. You were safe, no one could hurt you with Eddie at your side.
But it didn’t seem to matter, because you couldn’t close your eyes without being back in that damn break room – the break room you no longer set foot in.
It was like even though you knew you were safe with Eddie… a sick, twisted part of you kept reminding you that Eddie wouldn’t always be there to protect you.
And the thing was, Eddie had no idea.
No idea that you were struggling. That for months you were feeling sick to your stomach everytime you got up to get ready for work. That you wanted his touch but had a mini panic attack every time he touched you when you weren’t expecting it.
But he had no idea what happened to you either. You were afraid to tell him. Afraid he’d leave you, though logically you knew he would never do that.
Except there wasn’t a good time to tell him, either. He was having a hard time with his PTSD and you were doing the best you could to help him while also trying to keep yourself above water.
Which is why you started going to the gym… The sweating, the adrenaline, all of it just made you feel stronger.
And that’s where you picked up on learning to fight, you wanted to be ready. Ready to protect yourself or Christopher if the situation presented itself and Eddie wasn’t around.
You sighed as you walked into yours and Eddie’s apartment, your body stiff and sore from your workout. You managed to scrape your knuckles just a little bit too but it wasn’t too noticeable.
You hung your purse up and set your gym bag down. “Eddie? Chris?”
You heard Eddie’s voice come from the kitchen. “We’re in here, Honey!”
You smiled and walked into the kitchen, seeing them at the table. “How are my boys?” You went over and kissed them both on the head, “I’m sorry if I made you wait, I got really in the zone at the gym and the traffic was a monster.”
“Oh it’s no problem, I was just getting started on the veggies. Why don’t you go shower and it should be ready by the time you're done,” Eddie said as he stood and kissed the side of your head before returning to cutting the vegetables.
You nodded at him before ruffling Chris’s hair, “Do you have any homework you need help with?” He nodded, “Yeah, math stuff.” “Alrighty, I’ll help you after dinner, okay?” “Okay.”
Smiling, you kissed his head again before going to take a shower.
Once you went into the bathroom, you were all too ready to peel the sweaty gym clothes off of you.
Your leggings peeled off with a wet sound, and if someone heard it they would have thought that you jumped into the ocean with your clothes on. The collar of your cutout t-shirt was soaked enough that you could ring it out. Your sports bra was practically the same way.
“I went way harder than I thought…” you mumbled to yourself as you dropped your clothes into a pile and checked the temperature of your shower.
Scalding hot, just like you liked it.
You stepped under the water, wincing slightly at the initial bite of the heat on your skin. But as you stood there under the water both the heat and pressure seemed to massage your muscles, allowing you to relax.
The shower was the only way you could get a massage, it was the only place you allowed yourself to feel vulnerable.
And you never went to a masseuse at all because Eddie was enough. But now, after everything that happened, the idea of being pinned under someone with your back exposed and their hands on you like that could send you into a panic attack.
He had tried once after he started his therapy sessions, realizing he had been neglecting you and wanted to help you work out the soreness of your muscles.
But you were fighting a panic attack the whole time. You had to hold a conversation with him and ask him to not put his full weight on you. He cooperated without question of course and then you sat and chatted about your day.
Though you haven’t let him do it since, fearing that you would be able to hold it together and freak out on him.
Showers were your source of muscle relaxation. So that’s why you stood there, water pressure on pulse and heat turned up to hell.
When you felt satisfied, you turned the temperature down and finished your shower, ending with a cold rinse just to soothe your skin before getting out and getting dressed in a pair of shorts and one of Eddie’s shirts then joining the boys for dinner.
Eddie watched you wash dishes with a smile on his face as he leaned against the fridge.
He had cleaned out the sink, putting plates, bowls, utensils, and cups into the dishwasher while you were helping Chris with homework. But now you were working on pots and pans because they just didn’t fit in the dishwasher with the other things, often needing to be washed separately – and that took too long for your liking.
So after getting Chris settled down in his room, Eddie came back to watch you, wanting to spend alone time with you since you rarely got that lately.
Not that he was necessarily mad about it, he respected boundaries when and where you set them – no questions asked.
But he was pulled to action when he heard you wince, taking a step and a half to meet you as you turned for a towel.
“What happened?” Eddie asked, holding your hand as you dabbed it dry, wincing as you did so.
You shook your head, not answering him as you took the towel away to blow on the raw skin of your busted knuckles. You had gotten lemon juice and salt on them from cleaning the cutting board you had used this morning, and it hurt like a bitch.
Eddie froze for a second. Where had you gotten bruised and scraped up knuckles from? You hadn’t had those this morning…
In a quick scan, he checked you over for injuries. If you had a bruised cheekbone or black-eye that he somehow missed during dinner. But you were clean, so he could cross fight off the list.
“Nena… what happened?”
His voice was gentle as he took the towel away from you and pressed a gentle kiss to your knuckles. He was worried, because last time he started coming home with busted knuckles he was underground fighting…
But you wouldn’t do that? Would you?
“I was at the gym and I scraped it, not a big deal.”
He nodded and rubbed his thumb gently over it. “Let me finish the dishes.”
It wasn’t a question, it was a statement. Eddie was going to finish the dishes, and he wasn’t going to argue.
You sighed and moved out of the way, letting him take over but you didn’t leave and instead wrapped your arms around his waist, resting your head on his back. After your day at work and then going so hard at the gym, you need this comfort. The domesticity of it all, the safety of it all.
Over the next few weeks things seemed to be getting a little better. Sure, you were still having nightmares and coming home with slightly bruised knuckles but Eddie’s surprise touches didn’t spook you anymore. You were also considering becoming more intimate with Eddie again as he seemed to be doing better as well and was seeking out the contact again.
Things were just slowly coming back to normal, well as normal as the could be, but things were getting better
But then something happened at work, and it set all of your progress back.
You were walking to your desk from the supply closet with more file folders, since you were doing some re-organizing and needed new ones, when you bumped into someone.
They caught you before you fell, steadying you with their hands on your waist. Huffing out a surprised laugh, you looked up to thank them but you nearly choked on air when you saw whose hands were on you.
Panic shot through you like lightning and you put distance between you and Scott immediately, not caring if it was rude or not.
“Woah, Y/N, you okay?” He asked, but the smirk pulling at the corner of his lips told you that he knew the answer.
How could you be okay? After not seeing him that up close for months, then all of a sudden his hands are on you again and you’re back to being the weak little girl you were in the break room that night.
“S-S-Scott, I-I thought you were um late shift?” You stuttered, your eyes looking for escapes to your desk in your periphery.
He put a hand in his pocket nonchalantly, attempting to lure you into a false sense of security, that that side of his body was safe to escape through – it wasn’t.
“Oh, I am, but I decided to come in on a Saturday. I needed another day on my paycheck since I took a day off this week.”
You nodded, jaw setting and grinding your back teeth together as you tried to avoid looking at his face. “I see. Well Scott, if you’ll excuse me I need to get… get back to my desk.” You cursed yourself for starting so confident but then losing it as the breath just slowly got pulled from your lungs.
Scott just smirked. He could see the fear in your eyes and the cottonmouth you were getting just being in his presence. He thrived on it, knowing that corporate wasn’t going to follow up on the claim you made to HR and that you weren’t in a great position to quit so you had to stay for just a little longer.
But he just caught you one unlucky night where you had to stay late to finish a project, considering you didn’t work the night hours because you usually needed to be home with Chris because Eddie was working a shift. The one time Buck was off you took advantage of it and stayed late to catch up.
And you haven’t stayed late since…
“Oh, by all means, don’t let me stop you, I was just on my way to get some coffee.”
You were trying so hard not to clam up and just bolt to your desk and pack up. But you calmly nodded and just squatted down to pick up the folders you dropped.
You hated having your back to him and your hands shook furiously as you collected the pale yellow folders.
“You look like you could use a break, why don’t you join me?” Scott’s voice was right in your ear. It was low and raspy as his hand gripped your shoulder.
Trying your best to just shrug it off, you shook your head. “No, I’m alright. I need to get back to work.”
He clicked his tongue and shook his head, “I insist.” His voice was demanding as his fingers curled around your joint and dug into your collarbone.
Instantly your arm shot up and pushed him off you. “I said no.”
You scooped up the remaining folders and dignity and went toward your desk. Just to have fingers curled around your wrist and pulling you back into a hard chest.
“I’m trying to be nice and you’re being a bitch.”
Rolling your lips between your teeth, you tried to yank your wrist away – twisting and pulling at his grip to get him to let go. “You just don’t know how to understand the word ‘no’. I don’t want coffee, I just want to go to my desk.”
You swallowed, finally looking in his eyes, shredding any last dignity you had. “Please Scott… you got what you wanted, just leave me alone… please…”
The canines he bared as he smiled wide made you sick to your stomach, but as he opened his mouth to speak his attention was pulled away and you took that chance to free yourself. You twisted your wrist and pushed the files into his chest before booking it to your desk.
After gathering your things and rushing to your manager’s office, pleading to her with shaky hands as you told her something had happened and you needed to get home to Chris.
She immediately let you leave, not questioning it as you thanked her and ran out to your car.
The drive home was a total blur, taking the turns on auto pilot as you tried not to break down before you were in the safety of your own home and not risking anyone else’s safety.
And when you finally got home, you were booking it to the fridge to get a cold water bottle to maybe shock your system into calming down. But in your haste you missed the fact that Buck and Chris are home, and not out at the aquarium like you thought they were.
Buck had heard you come in and watched you nearly trip over yourself to get to the kitchen, abandoning your purse and keys on the floor.
Chris had seen it too and looked at Buck concerned, having never once seen you like this. “Buck?” Buck ruffled Chris’s hair, “I’ll go see what’s up. You stay here okay?” Chris just nodded and watched Buck get up and go to the kitchen.
Buck went to the kitchen, finding you chugging the cold water as you white knuckled the counter.
“Y/N? You’re home early.”
The way you jumped, hand clenching around the bottle so hard that water shot out of it – it would have been comical had the dilated look in your wide eyes not set off alarm bells in Buck’s head.
You watched, caught like a deer in headlights, as concern washed over Buck’s face and filled his eyes with pity. Immediately your back was turned to him, shielding your breaking resolve from his helping hand.
With the blood pounding in your ears, you missed his approach until he was touching you. You jerked again under his touch, weakly muttering out, “P-please don’t touch me.”
Buck’s heart sank. He had never heard you sound like this before… so broken…
It sent him back to the night Eddie had destroyed your room in a fit of helplessness, how terrified his best friend was. How you sat with Eddie, him now remembering your bruised knuckles encasing Eddie’s in an act of comfort.
“Y/N… what happened? What’s wrong?”
“No-nothing, just-just…”
He tried to turn you and get you to face him, to get a read on your face and figure out what to do. But you yelped and pushed him back, sending his stunned 6’2” frame into the table.
“Buck you need to leave…”
“Y/N-”
“Leave Evan!”
Buck swallowed, trying not to be hurt as he turned on his heel and went to say goodbye to Christopher.
You watched him leave the kitchen, your ears hot and tingling as you looked at the mess you made. You needed to clean it up before Chris came in here and slipped.
Hearing Buck close the front door, you carefully made your way to the laundry room to get a dirty bath towel to clean it up. Your vision tunneled, your ears rang and you felt that sick snag in your chest as the air was stopping half way down your throat.
By the time you get there your legs can barely hold you up as you get to the washer and sink down to the floor. Sobs are wracking your chest and you can only pray Chris can’t hear you.
But your prayers went unanswered, because Chris can hear you and he is scared.
Your broken sobs and ragged breathing are reminding him of the night Eddie punched those holes in the wall… and the night you came home and took a long shower thinking Chris was asleep and couldn’t hear you crying through the wall.
Chris abandoned the video game in front of him and put himself on a mission to find you. He could follow the sound of your cries to where you were sitting on the cold floor, head between your knees as you tried to breathe regularly.
“Y/N?” He gently called out, hoping you could hear him.
He watched you thread your hands in your hair and pull at the roots, sucking in jagged breaths just for them to be forced out with the next sob.
He didn’t like seeing you like this and he hated that he wasn’t sure how to help. But he knew he had to try.
Chris called out your name again as he approached you, not wanting to scare you and send you further into your panic. You must have recognized his voice because you seemed to calm down just a bit. He sat down on the floor next to you and put his hands on yours on top of your head.
“You’re safe, it’s okay, Y/N. I’m here.” He recalled the phrases you had repeated to him when he was having trouble after the tsunami. He had to pull from what he was shown, he had barely anything to go off of and he just had to hope that it was enough.
With Chris putting his hands on yours, talking to you gently, you could feel yourself slowly calming down. His hands were so drastically different from the ones that had bruised your skin, that it managed to remind you that you were home and that you were safe.
“Please, Y/N…”
You look up at him slowly, your hands letting go of your hair and holding his hands. “It’s okay, you’re safe.” Chris moved your hands to his face, hoping that it can help to ground you.
Your thumbs immediately began to rub back and forth on his cheeks, him taking deep breaths to help you find a rhythm. “Follow me, Y/N. Just like you tell me…”
Chris watched the fog clear from your eyes as you began to calm down and lean forward to press a kiss to his head as a thank you before resting your forehead on his. He wrapped his arms around you as best he could and you pulled him into your lap, your head falling to his shoulder.
You sat there for a bit in silence, rubbing Chris’s back as you managed to collect yourself.
“I’m sorry if I scared you, Chris. I didn’t mean to,” you apologized, breaking the silence. “Are you okay?” His voice was soft and gentle as he pulled back a little. You’re nodding immediately, “I’m better now, thank you buddy.”
“Do I need to call Dad?”
You shook your head, “No, it’s okay. I’ll be alright.”
He nodded before tilting his head a little, “Why are you mad at Buck? Did he do something bad?”
Your heart sank. He had heard you yell at Buck, and you hardly ever yelled around Chris – if ever. And now you’ve come home early, yelled at one of your best friends, and had a full blown panic attack with Christopher as a witness.
“Oh Chris… Buck didn’t do anything wrong. I shouldn’t have yelled at him. I’m not mad.”
“Why did you yell at him?”
“I was just feeling a lot of things and it was just what happened. I could have handled it better and I will in the future,” you said gently as you pushed some of his curls back.
You sniffled a little bit, “Why don’t you go back to the living room and I’ll make you some lunch after I get changed?” You gave him the best smile you could and kissed his forehead after he nodded.
“Okay, let’s go.”
Eddie had come home around 5:30 to you already finishing up on getting dinner ready.
“Honey? What are you doing home?”
“Oh, I got the stuff I need to get done early so I decided to just come home,” you said nonchalantly with a shrug.
He smiled and came up behind you to kiss your cheek before he went to get changed. But as he placed his hand on the small of your back, you jumped.
Eddie’s brow furrowed, you had never reacted like that to him. But he didn’t get to ask you, because you turned your head and planted a kiss on his lips. “I love you, Eddie.” He smiled softly and kissed your forehead, “I love you too, Y/N.”
You wrapped your arms around him and buried your face into his shoulder, smelling his coffee and whiskey body spray. He hugged you back, albeit a little confused, but he could tell you needed this.
After a few moments, you pulled back, “Go get changed and cleaned up, I’ll have it plated for you by the time you get back.” He nodded and kissed your temple, “Yes ma’am.”
You smiled and pecked his jaw before he went to change.
When he came back, Eddie found you and Chris at the table, his plate made up for him just like you said it would be.
“It looks fantastic, Honey, thank you,” he said, announcing his presence before touching your shoulder and kissing the top of your head. You smiled at him, “Of course, Sweetheart.” He sat down next to you, his hand on your thigh, just resting there as you ate.
You talked about his day and everything that went on – you having been getting his twitter notifications and just wanted a little more detail.
But when he turned and asked you about your day, you clammed up and just told him it was like any other day, you just skipped the gym today because you wanted to surprise him with dinner. And you left it at that, leaving no more room for conversation about your day.
After dinner you all went to the living room to watch movies before Chris went to bed. It was your weekend routine.
Except tonight you broke routine.
You decided that you wanted to go ahead and go to the gym, just to get a small workout in before you went to bed. So, after you did the dishes you got in your gym clothes and gave Chris a hug and Eddie a quick kiss before leaving.
It had all happened so quickly that Eddie didn’t get a chance to really slow you down and ask you what was up. This behavior was just so off to him that he just wanted an explanation.
And he did… just not from you.
After you lifted weights for God knows how long, you finally went over to the punching bag.
You had been on autopilot the moment you left the house.
And yeah, you felt bad for just leaving Eddie hanging like that. Giving him no explanation other than you just wanted to. But you had been thrumming since your panic attack, using that energy on deep cleaning and laundry — too on edge to rest or sit still.
You needed an aggressive outlet for all that energy, you had to get to the gym.
So that’s where you’ve been. Lifting weights and running until near collapse.
Now you were hastily wrapping your hands to take it all out on the punching bag. The poor inanimate object becoming the true outlet of your emotions, taking blow after blow as you wail on it. Your emotions from earlier in the day being released in the form of punches.
You hated that Scott was able to revert you back to the scared girl you were that night, smothering all the progress you had thought you made.
The swinging sandbag in front of you felt like a wall as you hit it with every you had. Flashes of that night played behind your closed lids as you seemingly lost control.
You could feel his hands on you again, touching you with evil intentions. His hands mocked Eddie, tainted the loving touch of your boyfriend with his greediness.
Your hips digging into the counter, bruised with the force of Scott pinning you in place. You couldn’t escape, you didn’t know how to escape.
With each moment flashing, each ghostly touch reminding you of what he did to you in the break room, you punched harder — oblivious to the pain shooting up your arm with each solid hit.
You couldn’t stop. You didn’t want to stop.
You just wanted it all to go away.
And in those moments you didn’t feel the tears running down your cheeks, you were numb. You hadn’t noticed the break in your poorly wrapped tape, which allowed your bare knuckles to meet with the canvas bag.
The tears and dissociation blurred your vision and you were blind to the fact the red spots and streaks covering the rough beige fabric was your own blood.
You had broken the skin on your knuckles, staining the sandbag with your blood as tears stained your cheeks.
But when you land a particularly hard punch and your shoulder pops grotesquely next to your ear do you snap out of it.
“Oh fuck!”
Your curse was picked up by a nearby girl who had come in at the same time as you.
“Oh my goodness! Are you okay?!”
Your head whipped up to look at her and you caught a glimpse of yourself in the mirror.
You didn’t look good, covered head to toe in red splotches and sweat. You looked down at your knuckles and saw that your tape was practically non-existent and your hand was covered in crimson.
“Ma’am? Are you okay?”
You blinked and looked at the girl. “Yeah… yes yes I’m fine. I just… I need to go home. My boyfriend is probably worried.”
“Are you sure? That crack sounded bad…”
“Thank you for your concern but I’m alright. You have a good night and be safe, please.”
She could only nod as you quickly grabbed your bag and went out to your car.
You knew you’d be driving with just one arm and you really didn’t want to deal with an midnight ER on a Saturday night so you went straight home — knowing that you’d need Eddie.
Eddie sat in the living room, his knee bouncing with nerves as he waited for you to get home.
You hadn’t answered your phone and he was starting to get worried. With his line of work, he was already thinking the worst. Did you get into an accident? Did you get taken? He had his radio on the coffee table listening closely while he waited, hoping that he didn’t hear anything related to you come over the device.
Then he heard it. The front door opening and closing followed by keys in the bowl and a bag hitting the floor.
You were home, so at least there’s that relief.
He looked up and over as you walked by, arm cradling the other as you sniffled.
“Chris was worried about you.”
Eddie watched you tense, but you didn’t turn to face him.
He stood walking over to you. “He told me you had a panic attack when you came home today, you know, after you yelled at Buck to leave. Then you weren’t here when he went to bed. He knows something is wrong, and he’s worried it’s his fault.”
That made you turn, allowing Eddie to see the rush of tears on your face as you still cradled your arm.
“No, God no. This is nowhere near Chris’s fault.” Your voice was thick with emotion as you spoke and the realization dawned on you that you would have to tell Eddie everything.
“Did I do something? Because I thought we talked about things and worked things out. If I did, please tell me… I want to fix it… I can’t lose you…”
“Oh Eddie…”
“Please mi vida…” Eddie’s voice was soft and low as he rubbed your arms.
You covered your mouth, attempting to conceal the sob of pain and regret. But you couldn’t hide the small yelp or your bloody fist.
Concerned, Eddie put his hands on your shoulders, freezing when he felt the slipped ball and socket joint and you sobbed into your hand.
“Sweetheart?”
“Fix it… please, it hurts so bad…”
Eddie nodded and carefully got himself into position, “You ready?” “Just do i- AH!” Mid sentence, Eddie popped your shoulder back into place.
“You’re okay, you’re okay,” he soothed as you sobbed into his shoulder.
“I’m sorry Eddie… I’m so sorry…”
He ran a hand through the hair at the back of your head, “Hey, lets get your hands cleaned up okay? Then we’ll talk, yeah?”
You nodded before stepping back, instinctively wiping your face with the back of your hand — smearing a little blood on your face.
Eddie tensed a little, that was the worst he’s seen your knuckles and it was starting to look suspicious to him. But you had come home the other times with no other injuries so he had no reason to question you about it.
But he could see clearly that something was wrong. Very wrong.
Eddie gently grabbed your hand and took you to the kitchen.
Without a word he sat you on the counter and grabbed the med kit from under the sink.
You both stayed quiet as he dampened a towel and cleaned you up, he inspected for tenderness and any signs of trauma to your hands other than the obvious.
Once he was done, you both sat in silence for a moment before you spoke up.
“It’s not what it may look like…”
“Oh yeah? Cause it looks like you’ve been fighting. I've seen the bruises on your knuckles but I don’t say anything because I didn’t want to assume. But after today I don’t know what to think.”
Your eyes fill with tears and you shake your head. “That’s not it, I swear. It’s just…” A weight settled on your chest as you realized this was the moment you would have to tell him and possibly change your relationship forever.
“Honey… please talk to me, I’m scared. I don’t want to lose you.”
And with that the damn was broken and you sobbed into your hands.
Eddie gave you a moment to calm down, comforting you as best he could until you were ready.
Once you were composed, you spilled everything.
From you needing to stay late to you going to the break room for a snack to when Scott walked in and shoved your dignity in the paper shredder.
Eddie was listening intently, his rage rising in his body but he tried not to show it and keep a gentle expression for your sake.
But hearing you, here and now, sounding so ashamed and scared. Recounting the night in detail.
And he had been so caught up in the job change that he hadn’t noticed. He hadn’t noticed that the love of his life was suffering because he wasn’t there.
It wasn’t until his son came to him that he noticed something was wrong.
“Eddie, I’m so sorry, I’m so so sorry,” you sobbed, clinging onto him. “It didn’t… I didn’t want it, please you have to believe me.”
He felt his heart shatter in his chest.
You were begging for forgiveness for something that wasn’t your fault.
“I believe you Sweetheart, I believe you.”
He pulled back a little, “I-Is this why you’ve been going to the gym?” You nodded, whimpering a little as more tears filled your eyes, “You won’t always be there… and I just… I want to be ready to protect myself or Christopher.”
You held your hand up and flexed it a little, “I saw Scott for the first time since that night today at work, that’s why I had the panic attack. And I needed an outlet, I didn’t know I was bleeding until I dislocated my shoulder.”
Eddie wiped your eyes, “Y/N I’m so sorry I never noticed… I should have been there…” You shake your head, “I didn’t tell you Eddie, you were going through a lot and I didn’t want to add on…”
He frowned a little but kissed your forehead. It made him feel awful that you thought you couldn’t come to him. You were processing something alone while helping him get better and that wasn’t fair.
“Would you be willing to go to a professional about this? For you and for us? Just so we can learn to get through this together,” he laced your fingers together and kissed your knuckles.
You nodded and pressed your forehead to his, “I want to try.” You brought in a breath, “I have to quit my job…”
He hummed and nodded against you, “Please quit, I make enough, we'll be okay. And we can pull from savings if we need to.”
“Thank you.”
Eddie nudged your nose with his, “I love you, so much.”
You smiled softly and flattened your palm over his heart, “I love you too, Eds. So so much.”
He wrapped you in his arms and just held you there. Planting gentle kisses to your head and whispering little jokes in your ear to make you laugh.
And that’s when you knew that it would all be okay, that it would be better. Maybe not tomorrow, but someday.

WHAT - 13 : What do I do?
wc. (769)
Waking up to a bunch of notifications can be either a blessing or a curse. When I saw all the notifications I thought maybe my post went viral.
The group chat was full of notifications, maybe they were congratulating me?? Or maybe Belle and Ricky were arguing about something stupid.
Niki also texted me. Maybe he wanted more robux, or was asking for a shoutout since I told people to unfollow him as a joke.
I went on twitter- my biggest mistake.
My dm’s were full of death threats.
Full.
Even as I refreshed the page, more and more kept coming.
Yujin’s post
Was it some sick kind of joke? She was playing the victim??
I couldn't get too much into it. I had a test I had to go to. I didn't even want to think about everyone. Do I reply? Do I skip?
“Yn!! Time for school, your math test is today!”
That's right, I have to get good grades for her, my mom. I push myself up.
I don't want to go, but I will.
Yunjin didn’t bother to walk with me. I see her walking, but the dirty glare she gives me tells me already not to talk to her.
I don't blame her…
As I walk into the building I can feel everyone's eyes on me. Not only strangers, but also the people I call friends.
Yunjin and Karina glare at me. Taesan looks at me without any emotion- somehow scarier than the girls. Sohee looks betrayed- hurt- confused. And Hanbin, he looks… sorry?
I think what hurts the most is Sunghoon, he’s with Yujin.
She cries in his arms, and he consoles her.
I want to be her. I want to cry in his arms. Why, why am I suffering.
I try not to think about it as I head to math. I see Heeseung.
Do I sit next to him?? Will he glare at me too?
I just sit where I normally do, Heeseung moves.
Do they seriously believe the post? Do I really seem fake?
I can hear my classmates whisper, it doesn't sound good. I put my head down, desperately trying to focus on math.
Luckily the math teacher comes, and silences everyone. He passed the math tests.
He stops at me, maybe it’s because I'm wearing a shitty outfit, or maybe because I have no makeup?
“Kids these days..” he whispers at me, while shaking his head. So.. he’s seen it too.
Has everyone seen it? Does everyone hate me?
I can't even see the paper, my eyes full with tears, blurring the questions. I can’t help but zone out. Am I really the bad guy??
What do I do?
Do I leave again? Run away again?
That's all I know.
I always run, running is easy.
So I do.
I get up and leave, I can hear the teacher call my name out. I can see Heeseung staring at me, slightly concerned.
I speed walk in the hall, I left my bag in the class but I don't care.
I hear people whisper about me, but I don't care.
I just want my mom.
“Yn?”
I see Sunghoon. He called me. But next to him isn’t what I want to see. Yujin is still there.
I stand in the middle of the hallway, I see my old friends, Sunghoon’s friends, and a bunch of random people.
“Yn, you gonna finally own up?” Yujin asks with a small smirk on her face. That smirk. It makes me annoyed.
Why should I let her win? But… would anyone believe me?
I look around again, but then I see Niki.
He gives me a look… almost telling me to do something.
Yujin now stands in front of me. I guess she tries to intimidate me.
I know what I'm about to do is wrong, but I don't care anymore. Even if I try, nothing will help me get everyone's trust back. It happened back at SM uni, it’ll happen again here.
So I do it, I defend myself for the first time.
I can only imagine the look on Belle's face, she’ll buy me some food in congratulating me. Jaehyun will lecture me, but still be proud. Ricky, he’ll definitely hype me up.
I can already see Niki’s face, he’s smiling. My mom will be slightly proud, but definitely mad. But that's ok.
I finally see Sunghoon’s face, he's shocked.
But I don't care. I don’t care anymore.
That’s why I continuously punch Yujin until someone pulls me off. And the rest of the next couple of hours were a blur.

ok so like. I love the “me when I get the (blank) autism instead of the good at STEM autism” joke that pokes fun at the savant stereotype but man does it hit way too close to home sometimes. I get legitimately upset sometimes that instead of having some unworldly skill in math or science or whatever I instead just get absurdly excited over mundane things but have a ton of trouble with learning. like come on man. I always see these things like “you’ll never believe what this little kid with autism can do what a superpower oh wow ohhh wow yeah” and it’s all just inspiration porn. It’s nice that that 5year old can play Beethovens fifth symphony while reciting the periodic table or something but I can’t do that, and I think a lotta people cant, and I don’t think autistic people should have to prove their worth by being really talented at something. It’s just disheartening that autistic people either gotta be total geniuses or they’re just an object of pity. I’m just so sick of having this thought placed in my head by the general public that I’m supposed to be a genius, I’m supposed to be so talented and an experienced in what I love but it’s the opposite. I love veterinary physiology but I’m Not Good At It. I zone out most of the time while learning, I forget things all the time, some days I just genuinely cannot learn because I can’t process any information. Idk man
