OLDIES SUNDAY: Gentleman - Intoxication (2004)
It’s another Oldies Sunday! It may be rainy where you are, or it’s dry, but we have something that’s good for both. The past few entries focused on Artists who have been influenced by Jamaica and its music, but are natives of other lands. This Sunday is no different as we head over to Germany to check out Gentleman’s “Intoxication“. Produced by Donovan Bennett a.k.a. Don Corleon on the “Drop Leaf…

SPEAK SOFTLY LOVE
— “WE’RE IN A WORLD, OUR VERY OWN. SHARING A LOVE THAT ONLY FEW HAVE EVER KNOWN.”
pairing; post spray jeremiah valeska x fem!reader
summary; jeremiah takes you to see the first part of one of his favourite film franchises of all time. the godfather. and when you return from seeing such a cinematic masterpiece, jeremiah decides to dance with you to one of the songs from it.
note; HII!! i can’t even explain how excited i am to be writing this. i love the godfather and gotham, so i’m glad the thought came to me. nothing wrong with appreciating my love for both jeremiah valeska and michael corleone;)
also, here’s some of the italian words used in this fic, and what they mean! (if these ain’t accurate just blame google translate)
non smetti mai di sembrare raggiante, tesoro. - you never fail to look radiant, darling.
grazie - thank you.
MASTERLIST
You and Jeremiah panted as you had ran back in the rain to the entry of his hideout. Tonight he’d took you to see one of his favourite cinema classics. The Godfather.
He’d had this planned for AGES. Years even. He knew one day he wanted to share with you the joy he felt in watching such an amazing cinematic masterpiece. And today, he had successfully got what he wanted.
There was tons of abandoned theatres scattered throughout Gotham. But Jeremiah didn’t want to take you somewhere shabby and wrecked. No.
He’d taken you to Gotham’s oldest theatre. A building that had been stood even before the very first time The Godfather came to cinemas. It was high class, and full of money people at all times. The theatre was known for showing tons of classics. So tonight was Jeremiah’s lucky night.
He’d made sure he booked out the whole screening. He didn’t want a soul interrupting any moment he was planning on enjoying with you. Only thing was that because of how high class the theatre was, it would cost a shit load to buy tickets, let alone the whole thing.
Jeremiah made sure the owner knew that money wasn’t everything. Well.. after holding a blade to his throat.
The whole thing went smoothly. And you’d never seen him so happy. He looked more like an excited child rather than a grown man thrilled to see the most loved mafia movie on the big screen.
As the heels of his shoes tapped against the flooring, you heard him softly hum the Godfather waltz. And he did so with nothing but pride.
You sat on the couch, your fingers slowly tracing circles onto the beautiful fabric. Jeremiah always had ways of making you feel so expensive.
“A glass of Chianti, darling?” He called out.
You looked back and nodded as he swiftly poured the Italian wine into a tall crystal glass for you.
Jeremiah carefully strutted over to you, two glasses in his hands. He placed one down in front of you, giving you a kiss on the hand.
“I must say,” He said, sitting down beside you, already motioning for you to move closer. “My expectations for this night with you were perfectly met, my dear.”
Jeremiah put a gloved finger on your cheek, and you practically purred at his touch. He held your waist as you moved into his lap, grinning.
“I suppose now I see why you always used to be so persistent on having that slicked back hair, Don Valeska.” You mocked. You’d known for years Jeremiah took a deep liking to Michael Corleone’s character. You couldn’t blame him, of course. Michael and Jeremiah both shared a great charm.
He rolled his eyes playfully, taking a sip of his wine. He let out a small gasp as an idea struck him. And you furrowed your brows the minute he took you off his lap.
“Miah?” You said, curiosity clear in your voice. He held a finger up, hurrying into another room. You just sighed, wondering what he was planning now.
Jeremiah soon returned, a vinyl in hand. He flashed you a smile, before darting over to the record player. He set it all up, and you started to giggle the minute the song started to play.
Speak Softly Love by Andy Williams. A song that included an instrumental theme used in The Godfather. Which had made the song a true gem to listen to.
He rushed back over to you, and you could see the amount of joy dancing around in his eyes despite the song only just starting.
“Shall we?” Jeremiah grinned, putting his hand out for you.
You accepted it, and he immediately pulled you up. Gracefully, but you could tell he was desperate to finally dance with you to this.
Speak softly, love and hold me warm against your heart..
I feel your words, the tender trembling moments start.
We're in a world, our very own..
Sharing a love that only few have ever known.
Another soft giggle escaped your lips as he directed you to sway around with him. You’d never admitted it, but Jeremiah was an incredible dancer. Always so careful with his partner.
Wine-colored days warmed by the sun..
Deep velvet nights, when we are one.
“Non smetti mai di sembrare raggiante, tesoro.” Jeremiah whispered into your ear. God you loved when he spoke Italian.
“Grazie.” You replied, planting a kiss onto his cheek. However, he redirected your lips. He tilted your chin upward, and soon you felt his own velvety smooth lips brushing against yours.
He put one hand on the back of your head, caressing your hair. He pulled away as the rest of the lyrics played on the vinyl, and the two of you went back to swaying again.
Speak softly, love so no one hears us but the sky..
The vows of love we make will live until we die.
My life is yours and all because..
You came into my world with love, so softly love.
You both waltzed around the room as the strong instrumental part of the song really kicked in. You caught a glimpse of Jeremiah’s face glistening from the moonlit sky outside throughout Gotham.
You’d truly began to admire his new features now. His ghostly white face, red ruby lips, and those icy green eyes..
Some were scared, meanwhile others like his followers found it intriguing. But you.. oh.. you found it hauntingly beautiful.
His change in attitude was also something you were secretly enjoying. Before the spray, Jeremiah had been incredibly shy with showing you affection. His overthinking always crept in, giving him the hint that perhaps you did not feel the same way towards him as he did for you.
Now, he was incredibly bold whilst showing his love for you. And he wanted every single person in the city to see that.
Wine-colored days warmed by the sun..
Deep velvet nights, when we are one.
His gloved hands made their way down your body, cupping your hips. Jeremiah loved your curves. You were so womanly. And it was another part of you he’d always admired.
“This is…” He breathed. “Rather.. exhilarating.”
Speak softly, love so no one hears us but the sky..
The vows of love we make will live until we die.
My life is yours and all because..
You came into my world with love…
“It’s definitely-“
“A night to remember.” Jeremiah cut you off. You dipped down as he hovered above you, his grip tight. He bent toward you, kissing you once again.
So softly love.
THIS WAS LITERALLY SO FUN TO WRITE. either that or it’s the concept of mixing my two favourite interests together. but man i love jeremiah more than anything.

Marlon Brando in The Godfather (1972)
In the opening scene, Brando’s character, Don Vito Corleone, is seen gently stroking a cat, a moment that wasn’t in the original script. A stray cat wandered onto the set of Paramount and director Francis Ford Coppola decided to place it in Brando’s lap, leading to one of cinema’s most iconic images.
The cat’s purring, however, was so loud that it muffled parts of Brando’s dialogue, requiring the dialogue to be re-recorded in post production. The presence of the cat subtly enhances Don Corleone’s persona, reflecting a calm exterior that conceals the underlying threat of violence. This unplanned detail became a lasting symbol, adding depth to the film’s rich character portrayal and symbolism.

I want to put down all the references in the Worst Generation (excluding the Straw Hats and Blackbeard) and the named members of their crews. I'm getting my information from the wiki and adding my own theories/comments where necessary. Ever since I read JoJo, I love finding references in manga.
Fire Tank Pirates
Capone Bege: His surname is obviously taken from Al Capone (whom he also shares his birthday with) and his given name is based on the English privateer William le Sauvage. Him being stated to cut animals' heads off is a nod to the horse head scene from The Godfather.
Vito: His name seems to be taken from Vito "Don Vito" Genovese, a mobster/crime boss from Al Capone's era, and the first name of Don Corleone from The Godfather.
Gotti: He seems to be named after John Gotti, a mobster who ran the Gambino crime family in the 80s (He was nicknamed 'the Telfon Don' due to him facing three trials and being acquitted every time -- the results were caused by jury tampering and witness intimidation-- before being finally sent to prison in 1992).
Chiffon: She's named after chiffon cake, which she also specializes in making.
Pez: His name is the Spanish word for fish, as well as a nod to the candy brand, keeping with the Charlotte Family naming theme.
Bonney Pirates
Jewelry Bonney: Her name is taken from the 18th-century Anne Bonney, who, like Bonney herself, was a noble turned pirate.
Hawkins Pirates
Basil Hawkins: His surname is taken from 17th-century English pirate Basil Ringosel and his given name from 16th-century pirate/privateer John Hawkins. Hawkins is also the name of the protagonist of the 1883 adventure novel Treasure Island (which had a massive impact on the depiction of pirates in popular culture) by Robert Louis Stevenson, who also wrote The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Visually, his design is based off of Joey Jordison of Slipknot.
Faust: He's named after the legendary character Faust, who sold his soul to the Devil in exchange for knowledge and worldly pleasures. The story was most famously told by 15th-century playwright Christopher Marlowe in The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus and by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe in Faust.
On Air Pirates
Scratchman Apoo: His surname seems to be based on the practice of "scratching" records when DJing, tying into his association with music. His first name is taken from the Qing dynasty pirate Chui A-poo.
Kid Pirates
Eustass Kid: He's named after the 13th-century pirate and mercenary Eustace the Monk and the 17th-century Scottish (which Kid would be if he existed in the real world) pirate William Kidd, who was also called "Captain."
Kid's Attacks: I decided this needed its own entry. Punk Gibson (Kid's giant arm) -- Named after the US guitar manufacturer Gibson. Punk Rotten (the giant scrap metal head and arms) -- Named after Johnny Rotten, the name John Lyndon used when he was the frontman of the influential punk band Sex Pistols. Punk Vise (Crushing a target with Punk Rotten's hands) -- As "vice" and "vise" are spelled the same way in katakana, this attack might be named after the British punk rock band Vice Squad. Punk Pistols (a harpoon gun made out of metal pieces that acts like a Gatling gun) -- Named after Sex Pistols. Punk Corna Dio (the giant bull he used to attack Big Mom) -- Corna is Italian for horns, alluding to the sign of the horns in heavy metal, while Dio references Ronnie James Dio, who was very big in that genre; no, I'm not making the obvious joke. Damned Punk (the giant railgun he used to blast Big Mom off Onigashima) -- Probably named after the British punk rock band The Damned. Punk Clash (after magnetizing someone with his Awakened Devil Fruit, they attract very large and pointy metal pieces) -- Named after the British punk band The Clash.
Killer: His laugh alludes to the song 'Psycho Killer' by the New Wave band the Talking Heads, as the chorus is the same ("fa fa fa fa fa"). The song might be the source of his name. His helmet strongly resembles that of Daft Punk member Guy-Manual de Homem-Christo.
Heat: He's likely named after the experimental rock band This Heat.
Wire: He might be named after the English rock band Wire.
Gig: In keeping with the Kid Pirates' music-related theme naming, a gig is slang for a live show.
Dive: She's likely named after stage-diving, a common practice among musicians and their fans.
UK: His name may come from the UK, where many classic punk bands originated from (ie, the Clash, Sex Pistols). Alternately, he might be named after the Sex Pistols' song 'Anarchy in the UK.'
Pomp: He's likely named after pomp rock, more commonly known as arena rock (examples of bands known for arena rock: Styx, Toto, Journey, REO Speedwagon, Boston).
Bubblegum: His name seems to be a reference to bubblegum music (rock and pop in a catchy and upbeat style marketed toward children), which influenced punk rock, new wave, and melodic metal.
Reck: He's named after the bassist of the Japanese punk rock band Friction.
House: She's named after the electronic music subgenre house music.
Boogie: He's probably named after the electronic club music subgenre called boogie.
Mosh: He's likely named after moshing, a rather violent form of dancing. Appropriate for a member of a crew known for their violence.
Hip: She's named after hip-hop.
Papas: He's named after the folk rock group The Mamas & the Papas, the indie rock band Papas Fritas, or both.
Jaguar: He's likely named after the Fender Jaguar electric guitar. Alternately, his name could come from Mick Jagger's last name, as "Jagger" and "Jaguar" are spelled the same way in katakana.
Quincy: Her name likely comes from the producer and musician Quincy Jones, who produced Michael Jackson's albums Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad, and has 80 Grammy Award nominations and 28 Grammys.
Hop: She's named after hip-hop.
Compo: He might be named after an abbreviation of 'musical composition.'
Disc J: His name pretty clearly comes from disc jockey, more commonly known as DJ.
Fallen Monk Pirates
Urouge: He's named after the 16th-century Ottoman Pirate Oruc Reis. He seems to be based off of Grigori Rasputin, who needs no introduction, and/or Ji Gong, a Chinese monk known for having supernatural abilities, behaving bizarrely, and not following Buddhist monastic rules. Interestingly, both these figures have movies (Rasputin the Mad Monk, a 1966 Hammer horror film starring Christopher Lee as the titular character, and the 1993 Hong Kong film The Mad Monk) that might have inspired his epithet.
Drake Pirates
X Drake: Drake is sometimes synonymous with dragon, especially in Middle English; appropriate, given that dinosaur bones likely inspired legends of dragons. His name is also taken from 16th-century pirate and adventurer Francis Drake. Random (but likely not a deliberate reference) fact: He shares his birthday with the singer/rapper Drake.
Heart Pirates
Trafalgar D. Water Law: His surname is taken from Cape Trafalgar in the south of Spain, which was the site of a battle between the British and French/Spanish fleets which famously killed Lord Nelson. His name is taken from 18th-century pirate Edward Low, who was notorious for violently torturing his victims before killing them, which may have inspired Law's own reputation for cruelty.
Bepo: He might be named after Lord Byron's poem 'Beppo.' He's also likely named after bear, polar.
Shachi: His name is the Japanese word for killer whale, which makes his friendship with Penguin (who's named after killer whales' preferred food) kind of funny.
Jean Bart: His name comes from the 16th-century French privateer Jean Bart.
Ikkaku: Her name means 'narwhal' in Japanese.
Uni: His name comes from the Japanese word for sea urchin.
Clione: 'Clione' is the Latin name for sea angels.
Hakugan: His name means 'snow goose' in Japanese.

Hi, please do with Michael finding out that Victoria and Sonny are having an affair, and that Victoria is pregnant with him, him catching them in the act
What we’ve all been waiting for… Michael finding out about Victonny once and for all. 😶 It was only inevitable after all.
Love into Lies: The End.
One business trip after another, meetings lasting for hours, politicians and powerful men seeking to revel in Corleone power as Michael balanced the reputation and legacy of his family as Don while avoiding and diverting a potential war all rested in Michael’s hands.
1957 had been passing by with long absences from Michael away from the family, but that was no excuse nor the reasoning behind your budding affair with Sonny, your brother-in-law behind your husband’s back.
Michael could have very well been present every single day at the compound and yet you and Sonny would still have been grasping at straws to justify being together and make opportunities happen.
The truth is, the nature of your affair and romance with Sonny never had anything to do with Michael’s absence.
Perhaps the bitterness and hatred boiling in Michael towards it all would have not been quite as intense if the truth of the matter was that Sonny began to curl up to you and seduce you while Michael was away. That would have made sense.
Michael has already forced himself to swallow the truth, however. You didn’t care for Michael’s absence or presence because all you thought about, craved and wanted was Sonny.
Michael had to accept that his wife on her own accord fell in love with Sonny and desired him just as much as Sonny desired her. Nothing could change this, and nothing could remedy it either.
Only Michael and Tom knew of your affair as Michael confided in him and only him; the only brother Michael can trust. Neither men have any intention on spreading word of the affair around the compound but rather dealing with it secretly without involving anyone else.
The latter, however, became impossible once Michael examined your medical checkup reports and pregnancy records. There was no way someone else could not be involved when you also gave birth to two of Sonny’s children—not Michael’s.
Your son Angelo and Daughter Isabella that you had welcomed to this world was loved, cared by and adored by Michael under the belief that they were his when in reality you had been giving birth to Sonny’s children.
Four cigarettes in, Michael remains seated in his office chair unmoving and with no colour or expression to his face; all emotion deadened as he holds his cigarette in-between his fingers and lets ash build up on the tip.
Feeling nauseous from the revelations and anxious, Tom sits across from Michael and lowers his gaze to the ground; a hand clasped over his mouth, left completely speechless from the truth.
Having not exited his office in three hours and cancelled all of his business meetings and plans for the day, you and Sonny remain completely oblivious to what Michael has come to realized—preoccupied with your day and household tasks.
“Dada!” Michael remembers greeting Angelo and Isabella after arriving home from a business meeting—kissing both of his childrens’ cheeks and spending as much quality time as he could with his growing family.
Now, Michael feels completely detatched from Angelo and Isabella, as if they were strangers. Michael isn’t their father, he’s their uncle and yet now from all the lies unfolded, he feels no love or sympathy towards them anymore.
“Mikey, I don’t…” Tom’s voice falters as he swallows hard. “I don’t know what to say.”
“You don’t have to say anything, Tom,” Michael repeats, staring at the wall across from him. “There’s nothing you need to say at all.”
“What about Isabella and Angelo?” Tom shakes his head. “What will be done about them? They’re just children.”
“Not my children for as far as I’m concerned,” Michael replies back coldly. “They are just children, yes, but they won’t be raised here. Clemenza will arrange for them to be raised with Don Tomassino in Sicily.”
“Right,” Tom takes in a deep breath, realizing the children won’t exactly have parents anymore once this is all over and dealt with. “I’ll get in touch with him. And…?”
Michael’s eyes meet Tom’s as he raises his cigarette to his lips, taking a long drag from it. “That’s what I’ve been thinking about—what to do with them.”
“Mike,” Tom begins, “I think you should talk to Don Ferrari before—”
“Before what, Tom?” Michael interrupts. “What will he do about his daughter once I tell him she’s been having an affair with my brother? He chooses to be involved in the marriages of his children, unlike our father. He will always have an opinion and say in anything that revolves his daughter. I’ll save Victoria the shame of telling her father the truth while she’s still alive.”
“So you’ll kill her then,” Tom lowers his voice, in disbelief. “You’ll have her killed knowing her father will come for revenge.”
“He won’t,” Michael brushes off the thought, blowing out smoke around him. “Nobody wants another war, Tom. He’ll become my enemy, but he can’t act out against me just yet, regardless of how he feels.”
“He’ll never justify his daughter’s death unless she betrayed the family,” Tom points out.
“Yes, exactly,” Michael agrees, “so then we’ll tell Don Ferrari what he’ll want to hear but that’ll be the end of our allyship and relations with the Ferrari’s.”
“But what about Leonardo and Connie?” Tom frowns, “this is going to come back to haunt them.”
“It won’t,” Michael denies, “Leonardo is a good man. Besides his father, he’s the only man of the Ferrari family I trust. He’s good to Connie and now he’s Connie’s husband. Victoria’s infidelity isn’t going to destroy apart a happy marriage.”
‘The irony.’ Tom rakes a hand through his hair out of frustration, nodding grimly. “God, I’m so sorry, Mike. I’m sorry. I can’t believe this is all happening—that this all happened.”
“You have nothing to apologize for,” Michael taps off the ashes from his cigarette. “This will be dealt with.”
“You wouldn’t consider separating them, would you?” Tom offers. “Perhaps keeping Sonny in New York but detached from the family and Victoria in Sicily.”
“I could have those two on the opposite ends of the world and they’d still find their way to each other,” Michael’s eyes harden. “That’s what they’ve been doing behind my back for years now.”
“They must have thought about the consequences,” Tom mutters under his breath, “they must have thought about something.”
“I’m sure they have,” Michael takes another drag from his cigarette, “and I assume they came to the conclusion that the only consequences available are death. Yet they still continued their affair and birthed two children out of wedlock, putting me under the belief they were mine. That tells me everything.”
Tom raises his head, looking at Michael with worry. “What do you mean?”
“I mean they believe it’s worth it,” Michael states. “All of this was worth it to them. Lovebirds blinded and sickened by their own unnatural affair; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, both married with children. They would die together in each other’s arms if they had to and I will not give them the opportunity to be together in death as they were in life.”
Tom’s heart pounds in his chest from Michael’s words, seeing no ounce of forgiveness or pity left in his brother; nothing but pure spite and bitterness.
“I want Rocco and Al to bring them here now,” Michael speaks calmly, “and I want to hear the confessions come out of their mouths before I explain to them every last detail of their death. I want them to watch each other die, unable to do anything about it.”
~
“When my turn?! When my turn?!” Angelo claps his hands excitedly, watching Sonny begin to reel in his catch.
“When you’re old enough, buddy!” Sonny calls back with a grin, “I promise! Uncle Fredo and I’ll take you as many times as you want.”
“I’ll even teach you some of my favourite fishing tricks your uncle and I use!” Fredo nods, closing up the tin of bait next to him on the boat.
Standing on the docks with your arms crossed, you chuckle to yourself—unable to wipe the smile off your face.
Regardless of whether little Angelo may think of Sonny as his uncle and not his father, there’s always been more than just a “nephew and uncle” bond between the two; a secret you don’t intend on telling Angelo or his little sister for many, many years.
Sonny reels out a trout, quick to set it down in the boat before catching your eye and giving you a wave, smirking.
You blush, waving back from a distance—letting the spring air flow over you and your dress as you watch over Sonny and Fredo over the water, beginning to move the boat towards the docks.
“You wanna grab that lucky fishing rod of yours, eh?” Sonny begins to carefully hook another piece of bait onto his fishing rod.
“Uh huh, and this time I’m gonna say a hail Mary like I always do,” Fredo nods ecstatically, eager to get to the docks.
Distracted from watching the two, you gasp softly when you feel a hand touch your hip; not overly affectionate but to signal whose come to join you.
“Hi, darling,” you glance over to your side, seeing Michael standing next to you.
“Hello,” Michael greetssomewhat withdrawn from his distant tone of voice only to muffle down the pain he begins to feel doubling inside of him seeing you now. “Enjoying yourself?”
You nod, letting out a soft laugh. “Well, it gives me something to do as the laundry dries. It’s been a slow day, surprisingly.”
What you don’t know as Michael’s briefly distracted you in some small talk is that Rocco whispers something to Esther—the nanny—who gives him a brief nod before smiling at Angelo, talking all sweet like and leading him back towards the central family estate.
Al Neri makes conversation with Fredo and Sonny by the docks, handing Fredo’s his favourite “lucky” fishing rod before joining the two men on the boat—seemingly all harmless in your perspective.
“You didn’t want to join them?” Michael asks, gesturing to Sonny and Fredo paddling off into the lake again.
“Oh, no,” you say back sheepishly, shaking your head. “I can always enjoy a good view but fishing isn’t my thing. You know I’d get seasick all over again!”
“Surprising,” Michael comments—his tone of voice growing colder with each word. “You never leave his side if you can help it.”
“His side…?” You blink, turning your head to face Michael.
Michael stares back at you; his gaze hardened and affixed with bitterness and cruelty. It’s a look that instantly causes waves of anxiety to rush through you enough to make you feel queasy and weak in the knees, but it’s also a look that tells you Michael knows more than you do.
Michael nods slowly, realizing you’ve figured out what he means now. “Or is that something you’ve figured to do in my absence? You don’t get too close to your lover so I continue not to suspect.”
Your breath hitches as you swallow hard—freezing in spot. Unable to speak, unable to think of anything, your muscles tense up as shock and worry course through you.
“You and I were here only two weeks ago,” Michael speaks to you in a soft, calm tone. “We watched the sun rise early in the morning. We remained here for two hours, talking to one another. I held you in my arms and there I debated whether I should tell you then or tell you after breakfast that I had another upcoming business trip that week. I did not tell you because I wanted to spend that loving moment with my wife and push aside my work, and even when I left, I thought about you and the morning we shared together. Had I known—” Michael’s voice begins to grow sharper, “that you were having an affair with Santino—cheating on me, lying to me, betraying me for years on end, that morning would have ended very differently.
You swallow hard, feeling tears begin to pool up in your eyes.
Rocco keeps his eyes over both you and the boat Sonny, Fredo and Al Neri are in—signalling to Al Neri with subtle hand gestures and glances.
Al keeps his hand over his pistol concealed inside his suit jacket, pretending to listen into the conversation Fredo and Sonny make amongst one another while fishing—waiting for the Don’s final word.
“I don’t want to know why,” Michael continues. “I don’t want to know why you chose him, when you did and how you did it. I don’t want to know because it serves me no purpose, like our marriage that you chose to destroy and sully.”
“You wouldn’t have let me go anyway,” you manage to croak out.
“Would I have not?” Michael raises a brow. “Should you have filed for divorce and kept the children with me and the same upon Santino, do you really think I would spend my time scouring the ends of the earth to track down two lovers meeting again elsewhere? You should have done that, Victoria. You should have told me and then you should have left. You disgrace my home with your adultery and you do so with my brother. How long did you think I wouldn’t have noticed, hmm?”
“I… I don’t—”
Michael grabs your wrist, staring you dead in the eyes. “You lied to me. You lied to our children, and you gave birth to the children of another man. You made me father my brother’s children under a lie.”
Smiling and scraping off fish scales from the bucket of what he and Fredo have caught today, Sonny gazes up at you—ignoring Michael by your side completely and admiring your beauty.
“M-Michael—” you sniffle, feeling your throat tighten. “You’re hurting me—”
“I’m going to do a lot more than hurt you,” his words sink into you like poison. “When I look at you now, I see nothing. I don’t see my wife, I don’t see my best friend, and I don’t see the mother of my children. I see nobody. You are nothing to me, Victoria. I loved you and I was never unfaithful to you but now you have none other to blame other than yourself. Our children will grow up motherless.”
You flinch, hearing the sound of a pistol going off.
You quickly turn your head towards the lake—Michael refusing to let go of your wrist without budging a muscle only to see the boat sprayed crimson with blood, the same blood splattered over Fredo’s face who sits in a state of shock on the boat.
Neri stares down at Sonny’s lifeless body crumpled onto the boat now pooling with his blood and with a bullet in the back of Sonny’s head.
“Think about your next words and actions very wisely,” Michael warns you as Rocco begins to approach you from behind. “Should you wish for Angelo and Isabella not to join your fate.”
“Sonny—”
Rocco grabs your wrists, roughly pulling them behind your back to tie them tightly with rope as two other bodyguards of Michael’s begin to approach from both sides, cornering you two.
“I’m going to save you the embarrassment of how you’ll feel once your family discovers everything,” Michael stares at you with disgust. “But for all everyone else knows, you drowned in a tragic accident at the lake. I would never let you die with him.”
Rocco presses the tip of his pistol onto your back when you resist, immediately ceasing your movements.
“M-Michael, please, p-please—” You breathe out weakly, gasping for air throughout your sobs as your body quivers against the ropes being tied around your ankles and wrists.
“While my brother’s body rots in the bottom of Lake Tahoe, I won’t let your remains touch his, even in death.”
“Michael!” You cry out in protest, feeling the tightness of the ropes sting and etch into your skin but Michael has no intention on letting your screams notify anyone else in the family.
“Goodbye, Victoria,” it’s Michael who pushes you into the lake with a quick shove, watching you splash into the cold water unable to move, wriggle free or fight against the currents.
Michael puts both of his hands in the pockets of his trousers, pursing his lips and watching you drown and attempt to thrash around with a monotone expression over his face.
Water burns your lungs with each helpless breath you take amidst the water and waves engulfing and overpowering you as you begin to drown—your eyes burning from your tears and vision blurred only to see Sonny’s blood mixing into the water near you.
Michael’s heart forever remains cold and hardened. Whatever humanity he had towards his family is destroyed, but he willingly dons the blood of his wife and brother on his hands.

Gideon Rachman: “I believe in America.” That phrase has rattled around my head, throughout the rise, fall and rise again of Donald Trump. Only belatedly did I recall that this comforting sentiment is the opening line of The Godfather. The words are uttered by Amerigo Bonasera: a man who has actually lost faith in America, and who is turning to a mafia don in search of vengeance. Trump is now telling American voters that “I am your retribution” — appealing to all those who have been “wronged and betrayed” by the system. It is all very Don Corleone. And it is working. Trump is generally ahead of Joe Biden in the polls for the 2024 presidential election. He is the bookmakers’ favourite, not just for the Republican nomination, but for the presidency.
So how can I keep the faith in America, when the voters seem poised to elect a man who faces trial for trying to overturn the last presidential election? “Believing in America” can mean two distinct things. First, you can believe in what America stands for. Second, you can believe that America will come good in the end. The two ideas are related — but they are not the same. My belief that America is a force for good in the world has led me, over the years, into some bitter arguments — even in Britain, which counts itself as America’s closest ally. Whether it was the Vietnam war, Ronald Reagan’s arms build-up, the Iraq war or gun violence, America’s passionate critics have always had plenty to point to. My usual response is that, like every great power in history, America has done terrible things. But in the three great global confrontations of the last century — the first world war, the second world war and the cold war — the US was on the right side. In fact, America was the decisive factor in those conflicts, ensuring that the democratic world prevailed over autocracy or outright dictatorship.
That is why so much rides on my second form of belief in America — the belief that the US will come through in the end. For the past 80 years, America really has been the “leader of the free world” — both an example of democracy in action and as the protector of its fellow democracies, through a network of alliances with other free countries in Europe and Asia. If democracy begins to crumble in America, then liberal democracies all over the world will be in trouble. It is reassuring that the world’s richest and most powerful country is a fellow democracy. In a second Trump term that sense of reassurance might disappear. Many Trump supporters will respond that, if their man wins the election, his victory would be an example of democracy in action, not of a slide into autocracy. But a Trump election victory could not scrub the record clean. We know the character of the man. Trump is somebody who has already demonstrated that he has no respect for the most basic of democratic procedures — a free election. His promise of “retribution” also involves repeated threats to put his political enemies on trial, ranging from Biden himself to Mark Milley, the former head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Unlike the indictments against Trump, these would not be cases brought by independent prosecutors who have weighed the evidence. They would be political show-trials ordered by the country’s leader. That is the hallmark of an autocracy.
So how do I keep believing in America under those circumstances? First, and most obviously, nothing is foretold. There are still many months to go before the election in November.
Second, America’s period of greatness and global leadership has always involved turmoil and melodrama, from John F Kennedy’s assassination in 1963 to the “war on terror” under George W Bush. In the end, the country always righted itself and its underlying dynamism and constitutional system reasserted themselves. So it seems unlikely that this latest melodrama — “America season nine”, as some call it — will bring the series to a definitive and tragic conclusion. The melodrama that America churns up — even the Trump melodrama — can be a sign of vitality as much as sickness. The US is a country with a rebellious, anti-establishment streak that allows it to shake things up and constantly reinvent itself. Voting for Trump is a sign that people are demanding fundamental change. And even if Trump is not the right answer, his emergence is a sign of that restlessness and refusal to settle for the status quo.
Trump’s enduring popularity may even belatedly be prompting some necessary self-examination by the American elite. Biden’s effort to put equality back at the centre of US economic policy is one example of that correction. So is the beginning of a backlash against “woke” thinking. As one Biden aide put it to me, in a moment of introspection: “We’ve realised that a lot of people are frightened of the American left.” Trump’s “retribution” against the left could take the US off in some new and frightening directions. But I believe in America enough to think that it would take more than one more term of Trump to destroy American democracy. The US is not Hungary. It is a big, complex country with many different sources of power and wealth. Trump and his acolytes could not bring them all to heel, in just four years. So you can still count me as somebody who “believes in America”. Me and Amerigo Bonasera.

The Godfather: immigration, catholicism, masculinity, sin and redemption
I’ve recently rewatched the entire Godfather trilogy because I wanted to see the ‘Death of Michael Corleone’ version of the third movie.
The entire trilogy can be viewed through so many levels; here are my thoughts on my rewatch.
Generational trauma - from the murder of Antonio Andolini, every generation of the Corleone family loses a family member to murder. Additionally, each generation produces ruthlessly violent family members. Would Vito have become a mafioso had he not seen his mother shot by Don Ciccio (an event which partly fueled his hatred of Don Fannucci)?
Acculturation - Despite there being an Italian translator, the immigration official records Vito’s surname as Corleone and not Andolini, symbolically stripping him of part of his heritage as he enters this new country. And by the next generation, the Italian first names become Americanised - Santino becomes Sunny, Constanza becomes Conny etc. The delicate balance between integrating into a new culture while maintaining your own is also shown in my next point.
The American dream- from the opening scene, the Godfather asks the question ‘Who is the American dream for?’ and ‘When does someone stop being an immigrant and become an American?' This is also the theme of the opening of the second film, where Senator Geary deliberately mispronounces the name Corleone and disregards Michael’s point about having fought in WW2. Both these themes are shown in the character of Tom Hagen, who is quite deliberately the front-facing part of the family but who longs to be thought of as an actual family member.
I have other thoughts on the catholic themes and will type them out tomorrow.
#the godfather#not Sirius Black (for once) but the movie#the corleone family#I am a sucker for family tragedies

Who benefits from purely digital currencies, such as BTC or CBDC?
At first glance, the two digital means of exchange mentioned above are similar because they are purely digital.
The huge difference is:
A CBDC is a digital form of currency issued by a central bank. Unlike cryptocurrencies, CBDCs have the full backing of the government. In other words, more local and controllable by those in power.
Bitcoin is a digital currency that uses a decentralized, virtual ledger (called a “blockchain”) to record transactions that take place on its network. Anyone can send, receive, and hold Bitcoin because the network doesn’t need approval from governments or banks to function. Users only need a wallet, a so-called digital “wallet”, to store and send cryptocurrencies, and not a bank account.
By definition, both constructs are completely contrary to each other. CBDC first as a supplement, then as a substitute for paper money currencies, issued, managed and controlled by those in power.
BTC decentral, tradable away from power structures and without supervision.
The commonality of both constructs is digital creation, management and transferability.
The CBDC, as a substitute for physical money, makes all value transactions and possessions visible and controllable for the manager. A harmless example: People under the age of 18 cannot pay for goods with an age restriction of over 18. Welcome to the barter business. At this point, I refrain from any speculation about the purpose of CBDC, which is already underway in test projects. But when asked about practical possibilities, I find many answers that influence my previous feeling of freedom. There is only one thing I can exclude. The purpose will hardly be to prevent the creation of new, uncovered money as a problem solver.
What about decentralized crypto’s now?
They are an interesting idea, an incredible object of speculation and in themselves everything that should make the powerful lose their tailcoats. But it doesn’t seem to do. Otherwise, they would have been banned long ago. Instead, in the USA, THE FINANCIAL EMPIRE par excellence, regulated access to the former “devil’s stuff” is now granted by means of tradable ETFs. Led by Blackrock, the world’s largest asset manager, which is deeply embedded in the US power structures and is certainly not suspected by the opposition. The fact that even Blackrock, whose former German governor could probably become the next chancellor in Germany, was able to enforce this in court against the US financial supervisory authority, shows us a victory of the new against the old. Real? Even the commercial point of view, Blackrock’s earning from every transfer of money into BTC and vice versa, still falls short for me. And to keep it in the family, the BTC that can be purchased in the USA via Blackrock are managed and stored by the crypto exchange “Coinbase”. In this case, Coinbase is the interface between coin and paper money and the custodian of the tokens. Where is Coinbase based? That’s right, in the USA.
As Don Corleone said in “The Godfather”: You have to have your friends with you, your enemies even closer.
These ETFs are not yet tradable in Europe, China has already rammed a foot in the door of this billion-dollar market and launched its own crypto ETFs via Hong Kong.
Establishing a decentralized, power-independent medium of exchange is progressive, see gold. In contrast to the many thousands of years of gold, crypto is not yet 20 years old. The digital world has taken a clear shortcut and the spread of BTC is considerable in relation to its lifespan.

Romain Virgo to Release "The Gentle Man" – Fourth Studio Album
New Post has been published on https://plugzafrica.com/romain-virgo-to-release-the-gentle-man-fourth-studio-album/
Romain Virgo to Release "The Gentle Man" – Fourth Studio Album
Jamaican reggae star Romain Virgo is set to share his fourth studio album, The Gentle Man, on March 1. The twelve-track project will be out digitally and on CD via VP Records.
The Gentle Man is Romain Virgo’s most candid body of work to date. The singer questions, deconstructs and affirms his beliefs, sharing clear-eyed perspectives across a dozen tracks. He challenges what it means to be a man in Caribbean culture, explores the highs and lows of ‘Afromantic’ relationships, and, in the process, blends classic, foundational sounds with modern sonics.
“I kept some important questions in mind while working on this album. Who am I to my fans? To those close to me? To myself? People saw me go from this inexperienced youth with a gentle way of doing things to a man with the same morals, but new understanding. With this project, I present my full, authentic self. This is who I am,” said Romain Virgo.
With production credits from Donovan ‘Don Corleon’ Bennett, Oliver ‘Cadenza’ Rodigan, Phillip ‘Winta’ James, Romeich Major, Maurice ‘Seani B’ Delauney, Nicholas ‘Niko’ Browne, among others, The Gentle Man builds on Romain’s soul-stirring reggae palette, closing the gaps between roots reggae, lover’s rock, Afrobeats, and more.
He’s joined by dancehall phenom Masicka on the album opener, “Been There Before”; delivers a heartfelt tribute to single mothers with Nigerian reggae-fusionist Patoranking (“I Believe”); and closes out the album with hard-hitting features from the multi-generational Jamaican talents Jesse Royal (“Bridges”) and Capleton (“You Must Pay”).
Romain Virgo has dropped four singles in the lead-up to the album: “Good Woman,” “Driver,” “Switch You On,” and, most recently, “Been There Before.” The latest track was released on January 26.
In support of his upcoming album, Romain Virgo will perform in Jamaica in February, throughout the North-East and South of the United States in March, at several festivals across the Caribbean in April, and in Europe from June to August, including at Summerjam in Germany in July.
The Gentle Man will be out on all streaming platforms and CD on March 1.
About Romain Virgo
Reggae star Romain Virgo is one of the genre’s foremost crooner’s. Romain has released three albums to date; ‘Romain Virgo’ (2010), ‘The System’ (2012) and ‘Love Sick’ (2018) as well as several singles including his hits “Soul Provider,” “Stronger,” “Beautiful To Me” and “Star Across The Sky.” His music has been streamed more than 57.2 Million times on YouTube, 4.5 Million times on Spotify and 24.2 Million streams on Pandora. He is ranked in the top 100 most popular artists from Jamaica and receives radio play worldwide including key markets such as The United States, The UK, The Caribbean and Canada.

So what about this for a request…
Back then they didn’t have tracing of cash and money or online banking to track it all so everything was cash in hand
So Sonny and Victoria decide to sneak away for a sexy smutty weekend in a tropical paradise or something
Sonny says he’s away sorting something out for business and Victoria says she’s away for some legal thing or whatever their excuses are
Nobody suspects a thing though and nobody even thinks they are having a passionate sordid loving affair
They meet up at the airport or go different ways but meet in their chosen rendezvous in whatever city or country they’re having a steamy sexy smutty weekend away where they can ravish each other in bed nonstop without disruption or interruption and can act like a couple as well as nobody knows them where they’ve went
I’ve received a loooot of prompts for Victoria and Sonny to sneak away somewhere nice and tropical as well as private, acting like a married couple together with nothing to worry about. 🥵 I’m barely scratching the surface here! 😅
If Michael ever came to ask himself or anyone else where you or Sonny were, he’d never ask the question with both of your names in it.
“Business” calls and Michael isn’t the only investor and businessman of the house. He may be the Don, he may make all the rules, but it’s never stopped you nor Sonny from breaking them time and time again.
After all, Sonny is the underboss—just one rank underneath Michael as the Don.
With no affairs or actual business to keep him back at Lake Tahoe, Sonny simply goes wherever he pleases how he pleases; Sonny’s never had an issue finding a separate route to get to where you’re going.
“I’m out sortin’ something for the family business. Someone’s gotta do it.”
For all Michael knows, you’re with your family in California—a worthwhile excuse since the Ferrari family’s dealings stretches over to many states in the country.
“I’ll be back at the end of this long weekend. I haven’t seen all my little nieces and nephews in forever!”
The same way Sonny’s always gotten away to bachelor parties and weekend getaways with Fredo and friends in Las Vegas, nobody can possibly suspect the two of you have snuck off to the Bahamas for the upcoming long weekend.
Planned and timed perfectly, you only landed an hour later than Sonny did only to see him waiting for you at the airport since his own arrival.
“Said you always wanted to go to a tropical paradise of some sort, eh?” Sonny smirked at you, keeping one hand in the pocket of his trousers.
“Something like that,” you returned the playful look and rolled your luggage behind you before you approached Sonny and surprised him with a sweet kiss over his lips. “What would anyone else know?”
“Nothin’ at all, should they ask…” Sonny murmured and wrapped an arm around your waist to pull you in closer to return a hungry kiss.
It took weeks of planning to get the two of you to the Bahamas for the perfect getaway with one another alone; all the privacy one could ask for, living the fantasy of a lifetime.
“And should anyone ask…” You kept one arm wrapped around Sonny’s shoulder as you spoke against his lips, “I’m Mrs. Santino Corleone.”
“My wife.” Sonny confirmed with a grin before he gave your ass a playful smack. “After all this time, I finally get to call you what you should be.”
“Don’t be a tease.” You whispered back before breaking out into a giggle—embracing your new husband. “You’ll have plenty of time to do that once we get to our hotel.”
Rolling your luggage for you, Sonny’s hand is intertwined with yours as he leads you through the airport and towards the exit where his rented vehicle awaits to take you to the hotel.
Out of the country and on vacation without a trace or whisper of your names in the wind, nothing’s traceable back to you and Sonny’s affair in the Bahamas.
Everything from arranged transportation to the luxury, presidential suite is paid in full with cash beforehand without record.
For all any stranger or guest at the hotel can guess and think is that you and Sonny are an ordinary couple—husband and wife excited to be on vacation with each other, getting away from it all.
The names Victoria Ferrari Corleone and Santino Corleone mean nothing and are known to nobody here—a perfect way to blend in without worry of being seen, suspected, or caught.
Endless luxury room service with the top floor all to yourselves, it only took Sonny one mere glance around the massive suite to think of just how he was going to tease, please and fuck you into a moaning mess in every corner of the place within these next five days.
With two hours until dinner service at the banquet hall which is followed by the rest of the evening’s shows, festivities and entertainment, Sonny can be found sprawled out over the king sized bed as you were just about done unpacking.
With half of the buttons on his loose, wrinkling dress shirt undone and his shoes kicked off, Sonny took a sip of his Mai Tai—laying on his side. “Gonna need a change of clothes more than you think this time around.”
“Oh, please.” Your cheeks flared up with blush as you patted your folded skirts and blouses into your luggage. “You know I only brought a change of clothes for these next five days, sooo…”
“Soooo?” Sonny chuckled and tilted his head back, taking another sip of his drink. “You know I don’t mind. It was you making such a mess last time if I remember correctly, wasn’t it?”
Sonny wasn’t referring to a mess around your bedroom through disorganization, but rather how he made it practically a competition to see how many times he could make you cum and catch it in his mouth at the same time.
“Done teasing me yet?” You shut your luggage and turned to face Sonny. “Or are you gonna put that mouth to good use?”
“For the next two hours?” Sonny set his drink aside on the night table next to him. “That’s just warm up for me, baby.”
You couldn’t help but chuckle at Sonny’s seductive, teasing antics as you approached him, feeling that tingly sense of shyness hit you again with each step.
“Gonna give me the vacation treatment then?” You placed your hand over the ribbon on the side of your dress—the only thing keeping your summer dress wrapped around you.
Sonny’s hand immediately moved to unbuckle his belt, but he didn’t take his eyes off of you. “Vacation treatment? I’m gonna give you a baby.”
That wasn’t an offer you’d refuse, even on vacation.
The moment you kneeled up over the bed, Sonny was quick to snatch you into his arms. With no reason to keep quiet or to be inconspicuous, there was simply no reason for Sonny not to taste and ravish every bit of you endlessly for the next five days.
Clothes thrown to a messy pile over the floor and hot skin over skin, both of your bodies collided over one another on the bed over a deep, needy kiss.
Tongues intertwined with each other, fighting for dominance as your hands roamed up and down Sonny’s chest—feeling his broad shoulders and firm muscles.
Sonny’s grasp over your hips and ass was tight enough to leave a red mark, smacking and teasing as his mouth roamed all over you with no intention to stop.
You moaned quietly and tugged on Sonny’s curls as you gazed down at him—straddling his cock with Sonny’s shaft teasingly pressed up against your pussy.
Sonny’s gaze back to you only shows how insistent he is to please. One of his hands is cupped over your breast with the other in his mouth, licking and slobbering over your hardened nipples.
“Show me,” you whispered down to him, beginning to push your hips down to take Sonny’s cock inside of you. “Show me just how much of me you’ve wanted after all this time—what you would do to me, your wife.”
