on a less off-the-cuff note I feel like horror is a good genre to use for critical interventions on the “cozy farming sim” style of game. like there is a baseline settler colonialism & christianity baked into a lot of the mechanics/conventions in farming sims (player character being offered a vast ‘empty’ plot of ‘undeveloped’ land, digging up “ancient artefacts” to donate to a museum, an emphasis on getting away from the city to return to more traditional/small town living, marriage and children as the natural end state of the game, etc) that are genuinely horrifying when you think about them lol. a game highlighting the horror of those conventions would be really fun to play I think

Okay so we know that there are a disproportionate number of TME trans people appearing on Dropout, both by numbers and even more disproportionate by number of episodes, relative to TMA trans people. But I also find it worth mentioning that we just don't get to be on the silly game shows at all? Probably the most clippable shows, the ones I see circulate the most, are from Game Changer and Make Some Noise. They're certainly what drew me to Dropout.

Guess we're just not marketable enough. If you're REALLY lucky maybe you can be in the show about being pedantic or one single season of D&D. Otherwise fuck you

Obsessed with how Lottie is one of the only Yellowjackets who is not mean to or annoyed by Misty. I’m not saying she’s exactly friendly to her but at the very least she’s polite and non-judgemental. Even when she’s dismissive or exasperated it doesn’t come off as an aversion to Misty herself (like when faced with Misty’s aggressiveness towards her in s2). In s3 ep2, Lottie even awkwardly hugs her and attempts to comfort her about Nat’s death and her own guilt. It’s even funnier because Misty is often annoyed, suspicious of and weirded out by Lottie,
