Time Perception

My personal least favourite symptom of my ASD is that my perception of time is skewed.

Like, I can not tell myself I’m going to do something in twenty minutes, because when twenty minutes eventually passes, if it only ‘felt’ like one minute to me, I’m going to keep procrastinating until I ‘feel’ like twenty minutes has ‘actually passed’ (and then inevitably it’s too late to do the thing so I have to do it another day and another day and…).

I physically know that time has passed, I know what time is, I know it’s been twenty minutes, but my body gets heavy and my mind goes ‘ehh, nope, sorry, it’s only been a minute, let’s just wait a bit longer’. And then it’s been five years and I’ve yet to actually start learning how to code.
