Sharks are awesome and cool and cute animals, with an astonishing amount of diversity and a very unfortunate reputation in popular culture. Dolphins are awesome and cool and cute animals, also with more diversity than the average person knows- and it's almost like high intelligence comes with certain traits such as the capacity for individuals to choose to be cruel.

That being said:

Sharks and dolphins both are still wild animals that can and do behave in unpredictable ways, and you should treat them with the caution and respect they deserve- wild animals are not pets or toys.

The people in the notes who are talking about shooting dolphins over this can go fuck right off. Fuck you, you're just repeating things in reverse. Orcas mourn their dead and mama dolphins sing to their babies in the womb. Judging all of dolphinkind for the actions of individuals is the same as doing that with humanity.

no, lighter bones are NOT associated with secondarily aquatic animals!!! its the opposite!!! secondarily aquatic animals often acquire DENSER bones than their relatives!!!! not only does this help them be more stable in the water column, but it also acts as ballast to help them SINK!! they do NOT want to float!! they want to achieve a density that is roughly equivalent to that of the water around them and achieve neutral buoyancy so that it is equally as energy efficient to dive as it is to surface! secondarily aquatic animals already have lungs and fat stores and other things which are less dense than water and thus would float, so they need something to offset that, which often results in things like denser bones!!

penguins have denser bones than other birds! whales acquired denser bones in their evolution to a marine lifestyle! the extremely high density of spinosaurid bones is one of the primary arguments for them having an aquatic lifestyle!!!

You cannot apply human morals to any animal

Just as people call sharks evil or orcas evil or hippos evil

None of these animals have the ability to apply morals to situations like we can, they simply do the things that requires them to survive

Cetaceans are incredibly intelligent and social, but they still should not be deemed evil in the same way as we apply morals and good and evil to humans.

If sharks, dolphins, orcas and hippos are evil because they kill animals to eat them then maybe have a look at humans who have driven many marine animals to extinction

i think the thing that bothers me most concerning radfem/terf thought is this weird bioessentialism that hangs around it — the idea that man/masculinity = always bad and women/femininity = always good, which is just so icky ??? like it’s a dehumanization of everyone regardless of where they fall on the gender spectrum, it kinda assumes that there is just one kind of man/masc or woman/fem (which under european standards, is NOT a very good thing), and also completely ignores how intersectional feminism and gender is.

like unfortunately some of the biggest misogynists are women. like let’s not forget that there are plenty of women who are willing to throw other women under the bus for male validation (think nlogs, and pick mes) or literally just bc they do not fw other women. let’s not forget that women in positions of power over other women (and even men!) can and will use that power (white feminists pushing aside feminists of color, the white tears phenomenon/violent rapist movie stereotypes/abled bodied women participating in eugenics against disabled women and men)

though not as much as I’ve seen men be complete creeps and weirdos, i have also seen a lot of dudes engage in feminist thought and try to challenge the patriarchy in their own lives.

I’ll be 100% clear and say that yes men are much more likely to commit acts of violence against women (or anyone perceived as such), but falling into that bioessentialist thought is literally so unhelpful. besides everything I’ve alr stated, it also just re-affirms the “validity” of patriarchy by dehumanizing everyone. like “ofc men are misogynistic evil sexist pigs bc they’re men; biologically they’re just like that” and “ofc women are perpetual perfect victims; they’re women, they can’t do or be anything else”. you see what I’m saying

like it is cathartic to be like i hate men or i wish the world was just full of women and stuff but its honestly kinda scary to that kind of thought be taken seriously in feminist spaces

It's weird when people go "But dolphins/sea otters are actually evil!". And I am not denying that both animals do stuff that would be fucked up for a human but... you do realize animals like, kill each other? Like all the time? They might have emotions or more complex ways of expressing empathy or doing things purely for amusement but that doesn’t mean they have morality or ethics they are still fucking wild animals, and if y’all make people start hating dolphins the way sharks are hated cuz of your dumb personal vendetta that your animal isn’t as liked as another animal that can be aggressive cuz you all wanna be edgy and call a wild animal a killer rapist then I’m gonna steal stuff from your house.

Lil rant incoming. I was watching a clip on an insta fan account of when Aziraphale and Crowley arrive at the theatre in 1941 and Azi is being all cute and excited and I noticed someone commented this:

The ineffables are dorky af, we know that. They are unapologetically ridiculous and goofy and that's part of what makes them so compelling. They are hilariously cartoonish but also have such profound depth and complexity. These characters are so incredibly special that they have impacted all of us here in an intense, visceral manner.

I'm rambling here but my point is... mah point is.... mah point IS... dolphins Silliness is important. What will feel cringey to the wrong people will be perceived as an endearing part of who you are by the right people. Be as weird as your nasty little heart desires.

Im just so tired of some people assuming there's no fucking wonder in life.

Like i get it bro, you think no aliens exist, there are no multiverses, the universe dies once, all that jazz and i get why.

But I get sick and tired of people assuming that there's nothing left for humankind to explore or to mend, we all die and rot and yadda yadda. Where's the innate joy of life then?

As a biologist everything for me is wonderful even if I don't understand it, the latter case might be better because experiencing childlike wonder at a phenomenon you can't explain feels wonderful, it's better than sex in some cases.

Assuming we are all alone here is just anthropocentric and egoistic. Even whales and dolphins, elephants, primates, hell even canines have a culture we will never understand and it's what makes life fun. Like catching numbers station signals for the thrill, it's all encoded but you feel something in your heart, that a spy is not the only one hearing this.

And assuming humans are alone because of how rare it is it's also anthropocentric as hell. There are multiple planets in the habitable zones of their own stars that, if not tidally locked, probably have lifeforms on it. We're also NOT THE ONLY galaxy in the universe, there's an infinity of them, and lifeforms that might be itching to see someone as intelligent as them.

Speaking about the universe being infinite, there's a whole debate on that one. There might be an infinity of multiverses, or the cycle of the universe exists, but rest assured it is an infinity.

We humans, as a species, we help each other. Because of the internet we can finally share our cultures and speak up about important values in the world. It's also worth reminding you we evolved because of helping each other. We help, we laugh, we live every day, we fight back against to see the sun rise again, and we explore this vast world and the oceans. We can fix our mistakes, and mend.

Assuming everything i just typed is bogus and the only joy is egoistical consuming and being sad about how we are a horrible species makes you ignorant on a scale you don't realise.

that is to say, we know for a fact that taylor felt deeply betrayed by scott b, seeing as he’s verifiably the actual person who sold her masters to scooter, after treating taylor like family since she was very young. it’s pretty self-evident he deserves the level of vitriol in the smallest man who ever lived (besides the other descriptive details that link him to tsmwel, mtr etc).

as for taylor and karlie suddenly never being seen together again (seemingly drifting apart a whole year before the heist even happened, remember?), well she hasn’t spoken on that, so naturally we read between the lines in the songs to find out. some people have taken the masters heist songs to be about karlie, and ran with that. but others see karlie and taylor’s retreat into privacy reflected in songs under the ‘love blackout’ theme (especially around here, you’re on a longtime kaylor blog 🙈)

love blackout = the hints taylor has put out again and again that she intentionally distanced her public image from karlie’s because it was too dangerous to carry on as openly as they had at first. 2016 election sadness themes, secret love themes, all consistent over the years. all while writing new love songs that use callbacks to the rep muse, to yail even 🥺. as if taylor’s been using all the confusion and her masterful quill of misdirection to achieve her priority of protecting karlie. not protecting karlie’s public image and clout with swifties, which she doesn’t need to maintain her success because she was always successful in her own right! no, it’s all for Karlie The Person in their secret bubble of reality. all this showmanship, you know. the great war, hello!!!! too many songs to name where the kaylor chandelier is safely out of sight, but you can still see flickers through the boarded up windows ❣️

so forgive me for having a chuckle. to any anons who sincerely🛸want to believe, I’m just throwing it out there that there are plenty of us that never found the karlie-betrayer theory convincing at all. if you take a closer look at everything, the timeline of events and all the songs since, does it really make sense? i think a lot of people are predisposed to blaming karlie and so everything becomes a sort of confirmation bias.. which partially, i would argue, was by design.. so in a sense i do not fault gaylors or others for falling into this hole. but i do sometimes feel like faulting them a tiny bit for those who never climb out of it. there’s plenty of information and clues needed to figure it out and climb out of it.

one thing i don’t like about the whole “let’s not talk about muses” discourse is while the spirit of it is supposed to be “let’s study why these songs sound gay instead of commenting taylor lyrics on these people’s instagram pages,” in practice the phrasing almost is like giving yourself permission to pass judgement on the people in taylor’s story and then never reevaluate them. people often say ~lets not talk muses that’s invasive and gross~ and conveniently refuse to adjust their perception of karlie (for example) based on what taylor is putting out there, while making convenient exceptions for any interpretation they find that works to reinforce their already negative perception of her. and then after bitching about her they’ll cover their timeline in lisa frank dolphins because apparently that’s what paradise is. i dunno. it all feels dystopian to me atp 😆
