OC x canon ask game

🫣 Who stumbled the most with their feelings around the other? How much did the other person notice? 

Ace, absolutely. He grew up in a jungle. The most experience he had with women of any kind until he left the Goa Kingdom at 17 was 1) Dadan (his surrogate mother) and 2) Makino (who he was canonically shy around). He basically had no interactions with girls his own age (that we know of) until his Spade Pirates days, and even then, the two major women he meets in the Ace light novels are Marine Ensign Isuka and his crewmate Banshee, whom he is mostly just polite and respectful to. Yara is… an entirely different experience for him. From the moment he first meets her, he’s a mixture of awestruck by her beauty and confused because she’s a Whitebeard Pirate and therefore supposed to be his enemy. Plus, she initially hates him. Ace did NOT know how to deal with her (or, frankly, with any of his other frustrating emotions about being repeatedly beaten by Whitebeard while being strangely accepted by many of the Whitebeard Pirates, including Thatch and Marco) and kind of ended up making an ass of himself, leading to the infamous “you’re really beautiful” scene in chapter 5 of my fic lol. 

As for Yara… it’s not that she doesn’t notice that Ace blushes and stammers and is generally kind of awkward around her, but moreso that she refuses to acknowledge it. She intensely dislikes him at first and doesn’t want anything to do with him until he stops trying to kill her surrogate father, so she mostly tries to ignore him and, when that fails, tells him off quite harshly. 

Things don’t really start to change until Ace stops trying to kill Whitebeard and slowly warms up to the Whitebeard Pirates, at which point Yara finds him tolerable enough to form a friendship with, and Ace’s initial adolescent infatuation grows into a genuine love that he can’t help but express however he can. As Yara begins to fall for him in turn, she becomes a lot more careful with her feelings, unsure if his unwavering kindness towards her means that he actually likes her in a romantic sense, or whether he’s just being Ace (since he’s such a sweetheart towards mostly everyone he meets). 

💕 Who confessed first and how? Did it go as planned or did shenanigans ensue?

Oh, I’ve come up with SO MANY confession scene ideas for them lol and I’m still not 100% sure how it’s gonna play out in And I’ll Surrender (Myself to You), which I consider their ‘canon’, but here’s a few ideas I had:

Ace confesses. Sort of. Well, he tries to. But he ends up getting so nervous that he sets himself on fire, and Yara has to douse him with a bucket of water before he burns down the ship. He’s about to give up and try to recover some dignity when Yara gives him a kiss and asks him, “That’s what you were trying to say, right?”

Yara confesses-- and by that, I mean she drops the first “I love you” in a moment where Ace is at maximum self-hatred after getting mistaken for his father by some random old lady on an island they stop at. He feels like his blood is a curse and his existence is a prison, and Yara is desperate to let him know just how much she cares for him; that he is loved so, so much, damn the world. Ace then initiates their first kiss. (This is the one I’m leaning towards in AISMtY).

They both end up confessing at the same time when they end up in a really romantic setting on some island somewhere (I had this idea while wandering around a botanical garden when I was in France about a week ago) and the moment just feels right for them to share a kiss after dancing around their feelings for each other for so long. The least angsty version. 

There’s probably more than that tbh but do let me know which you prefer-- or if you have any ideas if you want! I’m always open to suggestions <3

like literally i dont think any one piece of media has ever made me so joyful! It just just so beautiful. Visually its so pretty, thematically it toes (tows?) the line of realistic and comforting really well (at least for me), the acting is incredible - especially considering the age of the actors, and the constant unapolagetic queerness that is so obvoiusly written by queer people is so refreshing and just .. nice to see. Nick saying 'im bi, actually' so many times was heartwarming and - as someone who is bi themself - it was so nice to see that the only time the usual bi stereotypes were presented was through nicks anxiety (and also ben). I am so scared to see where they take nick's self worth in regards to his 'similarities' to ben bc i don't want to see him sad. I had already read the comics so it was so cool to see how effective this adaptation is continuing to be. the final few scenes of episode 6 have altered me as a human being and are like a visual form of pure nostalgia and comfort. the taylor song in there is so gorgeous. and speaking of songs the entire soundtrack was perfect (like they understand the vibe and the target audience) and had me doing the leo dicaprio pointing meme constantly. I also watched both seasons several times in the last few weeks and probably will rewatch for the rest of my life tbh. I cannot wait for the next season. anyway yea

I 100% agree I just watch this show or read the comics and I am smiling uncontrollably and just feel so warm and comforted and happy it's insane!! It's so beautiful to see something that feels so genuine and it's awkward but sweet and even seeing the changes and growth of all the characters from season 1 to season 2 feels so realistic!

Nick Nelson saying "I'm bi, actually" about seven times in S2 is literally so accurate and I felt so validated by that because it's so real (also as a fellow bisexual) to have to continually justify your sexuality depending on who you're in a relationship with. The queer rep is just wonderful and can I just say that Isaac's journey this season was one of my favourites and the way I screamed when he went back into the library and claimed the ace book at the end 🤌

Anyone who hurts Nick Nelson or makes him feel sad must endure my wrath! I want to put him in my pocket and protect him from all the sad in the world he is so sweet and caring and kind to Charlie, I hate seeing him compare himself to Ben but I love the way they showed that yes the situation was similar but he was so different because he cared about how his coming out made Charlie feel too and they literally talked and communicated, it was fucking beautiful.

And the whole hickey shenanigans from Charlie noticing it (or lbh from when Buck gave it to him) was so funny and realistic and just that episode was perfection (I'm saying this like all episodes weren't 😅)

The Taylor song scene literally did things to my heart, I felt that scene physically, and you are so right the whole soundtrack is perfect! I mean, Taylor aside you have girl in red, Conan Gray, Gabrielle Aplin, wolf Alice, Holly humberstone, Miya folick like so many more I am obsessed with the soundtrack! And have you listened to the "to Nick from Charlie" playlist based on the mixed tape from vol 1? It's literally also a vibe and has Hayley kiyoko (my beloved) and Troye Sivan (I was JUST SAYING that his blue neighbourhood album is so heartstopper coded and wild is one of the tracks 😭)

👀 Do you have any words/phrases you use habitually? 

I really like word "hence", I heard it once in like third grade and I basically made it a core part of my personality from then on. Not sure how often I use it in fic tho.... Other than that, I think I use a lot of -ly words as descriptors; wryly, ruefully, brightly, etc. A bit basic I'll admit but they get the point across and I don't have to dig out a thesaurus to understand what a character is expressing.

💕 What is the WIP that you are most excited about?

Well as mentioned in the tags of my og reblog, I've only got one WIP that I'm actually working on right now! The working title is "rest your head close to my heart, never to part (baby o'mine)", which will probably stay the title cause I always use song lyrics 😂 I'm usually inspired by music to write so it's only natural, I think. It's a fic for Anne of Green Gables, specifically the Sullivan tv movie continuity remixed into the original book continuity. Set 8 years after the third movie and with zero regard for any supposed "fourth" movies you may have heard of, it centers on the eldest Blythe child, Dominic, and how he comes to a sudden realization about himself in relation to the rest of his family, and how his question of "where did I come from?" Is answered.

Or, "so you forgot to mention to your firstborn that he's adopted and now he's asking Questions™ because he's realized he's the blonde sheep of your black-, brown- and red-haired family, what do you do?" But in fic form 😂😂😂.

I'm excited to see it finished cause I've been working on it for weeks, and because it's the first fic I've written in... A year, I think? So to get it written out will be an amazing achievement for me! I'm not sure how it'll be received cause it's a) the most self-indulgent fluffy-ass piece I've ever written--even more so than my Bradyverse, which I didn't think was possible--and is explicitly canon to the Anne movie that literally only me and like 5 other people like 😅😅 but who cares it's family fluff time!

⏰ What time of day do you prefer to write? 📌 If all your fics/WIPs fell off a ship and were drowning (go with it), and you could only save one, which would it be?

Time of day: whenever I've got a free moment tbh 😂😂 which currently tends to be the evenings as I work the morning shift 5 days a week. I've written or edited during my lunch times before tho so it's far from a hard and fast rule. When the inspiration strikes, it strikes!

Pick one WIP to save: well considering I only have one WIP that I'm currently working on (sorry professors!macdalton au, hopefully I'll get back to you one day), I'd say it's gonna have to be that one, titled "rest your head close to my heart, never to part (baby o'mine)". Even if it wasn't my only wip tho it'd probly be the one I save cause it's also one of the longest-taking wip I've ever had (the Brady verse doesn't count that was less one full wip and more a bunch of little snippets) and the fact that I'm still not done even tho it's been weeks is like. Torture. So I *will* finish this goddamn fic if it kills me. Wouldn't be the first death in the series at least (tho to be clear, nobody dies in this fic. It... Just happens to be about the mc finding out he's an adopted orphan, so. Clearly somebody had to die along the way. Multiple somebodies, even.)

Ascendant (1st house) Pisces:

Alrighty, so ascendant (first impressions/mask) in Pisces (creativity and emotional self-expression), it is likely that you come across as someone you can instinctively trust. People may be naturally drawn to you or automatically feel that they can open up to you. You probably come across as someone who deeply understands and cares about others… More than likely you can play this up to your advantage and you know you are capable of people liking you. 9 - What are your personal headcanons on Snape's diet and favourite foods?

I LOVE discussing Severus’ eating habits because I am a culinary major, so food is literally my fav thing to talk about. I think Severus likes to cook but I don’t think he does it very often. Very rarely. I think since he grew up poor, he would love overly salty things that are easy to make. Their main flavor profile is just salt with a side of salt. Though I know this man has a secret sweet tooth and he loves to indulge in cakes, chocolates, and cookies whenever he can but he kinda gorges himself on it then doesn’t touch them for weeks. I know he would love dark chocolate.

24 - Do you think Snape ever self-harmed?

Self-harming comes in a variety of forms. A lot of people only see it as one thing, but it can also be just neglecting to take care of yourself. I think Severus didn’t take care of himself in the ways he should have cause I don’t think he felt like he deserved to feel good. But I also think he could’ve participated in risky behaviors when he was younger as a form of self-harm as well.

29- How do you headcanon Snape's bedroom would look like?

Exactly like spinners end. Books everywhere. He also nests. So tons of blankets and pillows so he can hide away in his bed for ages and be comfortable.

31- Do you think Snape had any mental illnesses? Which ones and why?

This man has suffered through EVERYTHING. I think as a child he developed PTSD from his abuse, but it eventually just turned into CTSD. From his bullying and mistreatment, I think he developed social anxiety and depression. These things followed him through the majority of his life and worsened or improved in stages. After the death of lily, I don’t see him ever having “good days” tbh. He also has insomnia obviously

I wanted to briefly touch on the fact that Severus is definitely neurodivergent in some way. I am diagnosed with severe ADHD and severus has so many common traits of a person with ADHD. Such as executive dysfunction. (Which could explain his hair & teeth) Why he developed a knack for potions or much much more.

I think he could potentially have autistic traits as well but considering I haven’t received a professional diagnosis for this one yet, I won’t comment on it as I don’t think it’s my place.

41- Is there a side to Snape that he hasn't let anyone see? What do you headcanon this "secret personality" to be like?

I think him and Minerva gossiped DAILY about EVERYTHING. He was invested in some of these student’s lives tbh but not in a motherly sort of way but rather a “ooo what’s gonna happen next” way. So, I think he was a bit of a snarky gossip.

Besides that, I think Severus might have been a hopeless romantic but stopped beliving in true love after everyone he cared for turned on him or used him.

43- What's your favourite headcanon about Snape? Is there a movie/song/book that reminds you of Snape?

I love almost every headcanon about Severus I read. But my all-time favorite have to be the ones surrounding him, Lucius and Narcissa’s friendship. How it was them who taught him certain things like piano, or table manners. I wish we got to see a bit more about their relationship.

Everything reminds me of Severus, but I do have a snape playlist but Alone by the frights just really screams severus to me.

I finally checked out the asmr! Ooh, okay! I’ll give a blend of vampire Dio/Mudad with these, because I think Dio would be his evil, fabulous self, but also think could also make a good father if he really tried!

💐 Family/Kids HC

-Dio grew up with the idea that he’d always have his own family and lineage—he wanted to surpass everyone. How better to do that than to have a whole family at his disposal and control?? (also he grew up in victorian England where that was the expected thing to do).

-Actually getting to that point was harder than he realized, however. Once he had taken on his vampire form through the stone mask, his bloodthirst often overwhelmed his desire for all else. Any time he was intimate with anyone, he’d end up draining all their blood soon after, negating any chance for a lineage. 

-It wasn’t until he met Enrico Pucci that he finally had a vision for transcending his own carnal desires. Pucci reminded him of the fragility of humanity and power of family. Dio, now with Jonathan Joestar’s powerful and beautiful body, still had the power to reproduce—the head/mind from an immortal, but body fighting to remain human. Even if the body would produce a Joestar influenced line, Dio had finally found his desire for a lineage too powerful to ignore.

-While we know he had a few children like Rykiel, Haruno/Giorno, and Donatello, if Dio could learn to control himself, he would probably make an alright, if strict father. His resolve is strong and if he made up his mind, nothing could stop him. When he finds you, there’s a new fire behind his eyes. You are the one he wants to start a family with.

-Don’t expect this to be an easy setup though. You both will have to make adjustments and concessions with one another. Dio still has to drink blood and he’s often with many partners. It would be something more like ancient kings who had wives and a harem. Dio’s blood harem would shift from night to night, but you would be the constant in his life—his companion and lover. 

-At times, Dio would have to spend nights away from you to protect your life. He values you and wants to keep you alive, so he throws a night away with a blood donor and returns, only when he can control himself again. You find this oddly comforting and sweet, knowing that he does what is necessary to keep you safe from himself.

-When you find yourself pregnant, Dio is proud (ngl this man probably has a bit of a breeding kink) and will show you off to everyone, especially as you start to show. He wants EVERYONE to know that you’re carrying HIS child. He’d get even more overprotective of you during that time.

-Dio’s not very good with the baby tbh. He’s annoyed with the screaming and frustrated with the mess. The only way he begins to empathize is the baby’s need to feed. You’d find him sitting, giving the child a bottle, the quickly returning them to you if they started to cry. You have to work with him for a while to get used to caring for them.

-When they get older, Dio has a very strict set of rules, expecting them to act like a gentleman from a young age. Somewhere within himself, however, he remembers the pain of growing up with Dario and softens, slightly. He realizes that along with his strict measures, a degree of affection is necessary for growing things to thrive. 

-He determines within himself to put in an effort, offering praise for a job well done, a supportive pat on the shoulder, or getting everyone together for a movie night. It’s odd to see at first, after so many years of his usual behavior, but you can see that Dio’s trying to be the best Mudad possible.

Is it weird to go to the cinemas alone? Like I love to do stuff on my own, and have my own time and all, but I have never went to the cinema alone because I feel like everyone would be judging me :(

Babe no not at all! I’ve been doing this for years hahah it’s lovely actually. No one is paying attention to you because they’re all busy staring at the screen, and even if anyone does notice, no one cares.

I know it feels daunting at first, the first time I did it I thought everyone was staring at me as well. But in reality no one cares. And once you go it’s the most freeing thing, I highly recommend it.

Also, I’m a big advocate of doing things on your own rather than waiting until someone joins you. I shop alone if I want to, I go to the movies alone, I’ve gone to a concert alone and I’ve even just gone to a restaurant alone. I still don’t particularly love the last one but it’s FINE. Why wait until someone is available if you wanna go now? Just follow your heart tbh.

And doing something you want to do on your own is the best form of self care, honestly. Sometimes I just need to spend time with me, without anyone else, and not be in the house. It’s fine. It’s good for you, even. 💕
