My name is Dekel, I am a 23 year old who lives in Toronto. After graduating university, like many I struggled to find out what it is that I wanted to do in life, all I knew for sure is that I wanted to have a lasting impact and make a real difference in this world. After trying a few entrepreneurial ventures that didn’t quite work out I found myself in a tough place, one where I felt like it was only me in my corner. This led me to start a motivational page on Instagram called Motivated 2 Be Great where I would write daily affirmations to let myself know that I could do more, and be more. 

Eventually this page turned into a community, one which currently has over 17, 500 members between Facebook and Instagram. As the holidays approached I decided I wanted to do something special, to go and do some good as I have in previous years. However, this year was different; This year I had a platform. I decided to use this platform to introduce a #DoGoodBeGreat challenge that encourages others to go out and make a difference. 

The challenge is to go out, take a video of you doing something good for someone else (as big or as small as you’d like) and post it on social media with the hashtag #DoGoodBeGreat. While I know that it is typically frowned upon to film a good act, I knew that the more people that this reaches, the more people will go out and get involved, ultimately leading to more people going out and doing good. So far we’ve had quite a few people getting involved, and more and more are posting by the day. It would be amazing if you would be willing to help us get the word out, as the more people that this reaches, the greater the impact that we can have.
